Passing through the Columbus area my wife was insistent that we stop here for dinner. Wind Chimes has been a favorite of her family for over 30 years. We had the cashew chicken and i had the Mongolian Trio with fried rice, egg rolls and won to soup. Both were very good. The service was friendly prompt and very efficient. This place was well worth the stop.
Usually quite good but tonight… I threw it in the garbage as it was inedible. Ordered thru DoorDash. The peppercorn calamari was literally fried to oblivion. Rock hard and ice cold on the outside, tough snd rubbery in the inside. Literally inedible. The Wor Su Gai was worse. Over fried, rock hard, tough, leathery and tasteless. It was ice cold and truly I wouldn’t feed it to a dog. Even the sauce was bad… a cold congealed tasteless mess. No chicken flavor, not even salty just cold tasteless glop. The Pad Thai was just as bad. Over cooked cold mush. Rubbery shrimp in a tasteless sauce no spice, no texture, no flavor. The MooSu pork was actually quite good aside from being cold. The pancakes however were just burrito tortillas cold and dry. Overall… This was just horrible food and they should be ashamed to send garbage like this out. For the record DoorDash delivery was fairly quick.
I live about 50 steps away and am so glad to have Windchimes so close! They have spoiled me to any other Chinese restaurant. I love everything I’ve had from them, and I always order all my favorites, and there are a lot, and then one new thing to try. Always absolutely excellent! All the appetizers! All the soups! Don’t miss the cheese xango crepes for dessert! I discovered those crepes recently when getting takeout, and I really wants to go back immediately to get more! They do shrimp and scallop dishes as well as any fine dining seafood place, and the service in the dining room and bar is excellent!
Door dashed pot stickers, fried rice and sesame chicken. It was AWFUL. the pot stickers were inedible, gummy balls of uncooked dough. The fried rice was dry and hard. The orange chicken was over cooked and stale. It was horrible and I will never order from there ever again.
Windchimes USED to be far and away our favorite. Just picked up my food 10 minutes ago. Terrible. Funny how an Asian restaurant can screw up BOTH fried rice AND fried dumplings! The potstickers are so tough and thick that I’ll be throwing them out. They contain the tiniest bit of pork and are surrounded by a muffin.Asked if there was a bunch of soy sauce in the bag...’yep’...get home and there are a total of TWO packets. So sad that a great place has become this embarrassment.
I never leave reviews but with the current state of the world I’ve been trying to eat locally and this has been one of my favorite finds! This is my second time ordering from wind chimes and both times have been great. Amazing service, good prices, great food. We’ve tried the beef and broccoli, general tso’s and chicken pad Thai. General tso’s was my favorite! Highly recommend.
First visit, wont be the last 👍 Quick service, ample portions, reasonably priced & attentive but not hovering wait persons. Pineapple chicken, miso soup excellent; bonus was egg roll & crab Rangoon as appetizer, though I didnt order them....guessing a standard for all customers. They too were excellent! Great dining experience 👍
Excellent spot for a quick lunch. Service is prompt and friendly. The dining room is always nearly full but there is never a problem finding a table. Several large tables make it a great location for a group lunch if you want to eat with a few co workers. The food is basic Chinese American fare but it is, importantly, always fresh. So many Chinese American restaurants in the area serve limp, mushy dishes that barely taste of anything. Here the orange chicken tastes different from the sweet and sour and is different from the General Tsos and so on. The appetizers likewise taste freshly fried and havent been under a heat light for a quarter hour. The food is always delivered promptly and the severs are attentive but not in your face. Really solid experience all around.
Ive been to this restaurant twice now and each time it has been just really good. My sister told me about it and Im glad I have gone. The food is good and hot and the staff is great. The prices are also excellent. Its a beautiful Oriental setting and Im definitely going back. Thank you Windchimes !!!
Excellent menu and choices of delicious foods. You can always count on the quality of the food. The portions are plentiful and the prices are reasonable. We had a party of 15 and 1 server accommodated all of us. He was efficient, professional, courteous and funny. Excellent service and excellent food ... Dont miss this wonderful restaurant.
I was sat and given water immediately. The lunch combinations are extremely well priced and often a crab wrap, spring, and rice with a meal. Everything was served hot and fresh. The pineapple chicken was astonishingly good. Wait staff was quick and I never came close to being out of water. I also started with an egg drop soup that was one of the best Ive had. I will definitely be back soon. Thanks!
The restaurant is beautiful itself. It has nice ambience and classy seating. It also has a nice full stocked bar. The staff, Waiters & waitresses were very nice polite and professional. I ordered honey cashew chicken and it was delicious. I was quite pleased until I went to dive in my fried rice. I was instantly turned off as I found some sort of black bug in my rice. It was not a roach it was not an ant but some type of bug that I am not sure of. I immediately let my server know they apologized and comped my meal for me along with making a fresh order for me. I understand that things happen sometimes so Im not going to hold that against them. All in all my friend and I had a very nice time my food was tasty despite the bug. My friend enjoyed his triple Mongolian Delight. I guess I would give this Place another try if I were in the area. However I came from the south side specifically for this restaurant. I would give it 5 stars but the bug bothered me.
Weve eaten here twice and each time has been a wonderful experience. The menu selection had many items to try and it was difficult to narrow the choices down. We love these old-school type of restaurants and also were thankful that the background music was subdued and non-distracting. Both times we have had the server, Mike. Mike is discreet, good sense of humor, listens well, and very knowledgeable about the menu. We enjoy seeing Mike every time we go to Windchimes.. The food is everything we hope for as we sit down for great Chinese food. There are many things yet to try each time we go.
I do enjoy Chinese food very much and was told this place was particularly wonderful. So let me tell you my experience:Interior: A bit dark, but cozy. I came in when only a few others were around, so it was pretty quiet. The wallpaper could use a changing, but it wasnt bad. Comfortable chairs and nice place settings were good to see.Service: Very helpful and nice. They were able to say how spicy anything was or if anything could be changed.Food: I ordered the Szechwan duck. Duck is very interesting to eat, but the sauce and vegetables were wonderful. The menu was quite extensive, giving many options for anyone who wanted to try anything different OR familiar. I also shared the lettuce wraps, which were tasty and filling. They could easily be a meal if anyone wanted to be grain free. Conclusion: I can see why everyone likes this place. The interior could use a fresh coat of paint or some new wallpaper, but I definitely want to come back and try some of the other dishes like the garlic style beef or Hunan chicken. Still tasty and wonderful.4 out of 5 stars.
I wished I didn’t have to leave a bad review for this place. I’ve sent multiple messages to them to resolve my situation but haven’t received any response. My kids got sick from their food and they choose to ignore my concerns. I know things happen in the real world of life especially during these difficult times we are all in, BUT a restaurant must acknowledge customers concerns.
I have been dining at Windchimes for over 25 years. Valentines Day this year was my last. I ordered dinner for my family. The dinner was one the worst meals we have ever ordered. Not just one dish but all of them. I called and talked to the manager and they didnt want to do anything to correct our dinner. I asked the manager if there had been any changes and she told me new ownership. Well I will tell you it has gone from the best Chinese restaurant in Dublin to the worst. I spent my last dollar with them. If you love in Dublin I recommend Sesame Sea. There food is fantastic. If anyone is hungry I can give you my address. I have five dinners I can leave out on the front porch.
I ordered the Windchimes Supreme because a picture posted looked amazing, unfortunately I got an under cooked sopping mess with not much flavor. Not as well done and good looking as the picture. We also ordered the Crispy Pineapple Chicken and beef teriyaki and those were good!
This place was extremely elegant and the staff was very welcoming. Looking at it from the outside you wouldnt think itd be so vast. The menu is incredible, for example I got the ribs appetizer and it came with full ribs instead of small cut sized ones. The noodle selection and cooking styles are a must. I went for lunch and the amount of food you receive is plentiful to were I needed a box and all for under $8
I understand that it was Christmas day, but they overbooked themselves, and the staff was not very friendly. It took 30 minutes for our party to be seated, and we had a reservation. It took another 30 minutes for the waitress to take our order, and another 40 minutes for the food to come out. The food was great though. I may give it another chance on a day that they wont be completely packed!
Chicken with Stapler pin (may be their new recipe).......I went for lunch today with my co-workers, while I was eating it I got a staple pin in my food. I showed it to the server, his response was ridiculous. He sounded that it is quiet common and if I still have concerns I was asked to speak to the owner. When I was about to exit and tried to inform the same to the owner she is more focused on collecting money rather than listening to customer complaint.- No more visits to this place, not interested to eat Staple pins.
This does not compare to Helen’s Asian Kitchen, which is by far the best Chinese restaurant in Columbus. I tried Windchime’s twiced cooked pork, and it wasn’t as good as Helen’s. Helen’s uses pork belly, and the way they cook it melts in your mouth. Also tried their wonton soup... someone said it was the best they ever had. Mine had the minimal amount of meat filling you could put in a wonton. The broth tastes like any other average Chinese restaurant’s wonton broth. Also had the mala green beans. Once again, Helen’s is 10x better.
OVERCHARGING??? If you order a container of brown rice they charge $2.50. Thats fine. Why do they charge the full extra $2.50 for brown rice when subbing that for white or fried, that is included, in an entree? They should charge LESS.They are not giving you 2 different types of rice, however you are PAYING for 2 different types of rice.I asked and was told brown rice is more expensive, however he didnt understand what I meant. Im not ordering additional rice just subbing it to brown from the included white.
For the price, its just alright - Im sure the dine-in experience is nice, but as a takeout option, there are too many other cheaper, just as good choices in the area. From the dishes Ive tried, it seems that they rely on flavor coming from heat, as the mild / non-spicy dishes Ive had have been bland.
Something happened to this restaurant. I believe the ownership changed. This restaurant used to be one of the best Chinese places to go in town, when I ordered my takeout yesterday the food now ranks close to the worst Chinese restaurants in town. My favorite dish is used to be the teriyaki beef appetizer, which is now not edible. I threw out most of the food. I should have known something was wrong when I was told that I would get a 10% discount if I paid cash.
LITERALLY. I ordered a SIDE OF LO MEIN noodles, and was given spaghetti noodles fried in brown sauce. I called and asked the manager, and he indeed, confirmed that they knowingly SERVE SPAGHETTI noodles and call it lo mein. What a lack of customer service, I asked for my money back and that wasnt even acknowledged. I am highly disappointed. It was my second time eating here, and will be my last!
I primarily buy egg rolls and spring rolls here. I feel the quality of the chicken in their dishes has declined. I used to eat a lot of Gen. Tsos Chicken and Sweetn Sour Chicken dinners here. Overall this is a clean restaurant in a nice location who, like most restaurants, is trying to balance food cost and profitability.
My coworkers and I placed a lunch take out order for the seven of us. I decided to spoil myself a little and ordered the $13.00 teriyaki chicken. I’ve had this dish when dining in a while back and let me tell you, it was not what I received. All that they gave me was a container of sliced grilled chicken and a container of rice. There was no teriyaki sauce on the chicken OR on the side. Plus it wasn’t the same chicken I had before.I decided to call them and see if they could possibly bring me the correct meal or make it right in some way. When I called, the man on the phone argued with me and insisted they put the sauce in a container, on the side, and in the bag. I told him that yes there was a sauce, but it was the extra brown sauce my other coworker ordered. I know what teriyaki sauce tastes like and it definitely wasn’t it. He kept putting me on hold then coming back and insisting I was wrong and that they know it’s the right chicken and they know the sauce was there. He said the only thing they could do was make me something else but I had to bring them the other meal back and pick it up myself. I told him my lunch was over and I couldn’t leave. He actually refused a refund or credit and said there was nothing he could do. I apparently didn’t specify that I wanted the “specialty menu” teriyaki chicken and apparently I’m just lying that I have no sauce. After 10 minutes on the phone during my lunch, while my other coworker are eating their meals, one of the girls grabs my phone to see if they can get further with the worker than I did. Finally, after a 19 minute conversation, the guy agrees to have a different meal delivered to me but refused to issue any credits.Windchimes has not only lost me as a customer, but they have also lost the other coworkers who ordered with me that day. This was a lunch order of over $50, we work right down the street and will never order there again.I’m not a hard person it please. A simple refund, future credit, or even for the worker to have agreed to bring me something else right away would have made me happy. I’ve never been spoke to as a customer the way this guy spoke to me. I’ll never go back there again.
Recently i went there with my husband and 1 year old kid. This was the first time we had such a bad and annoying experience in our lifetime. The man who served food to us misbehaved and after paying bill we left there at the earliest but he followed us and came outside shouted without any shame, such an idiot. We wont go there anymore.
Put in a reservation and was unable to be seated, then tossed around to a bunch of people then found out they lie about having reservations. Thanks for ruining Christmas Eve wind-chimes. More like sad-times. I then pretended to work there and quit in a fit of rage. But in all seriousness don’t come here
Windchimes Chinese Restaurant is a very authentic Chinese Restaurant.I have to say this is my favorite chinese restaurant. They serve very high quality chinese food and every time ive been there i was very satisfied with my food, service and environment. The servers there are really respectful and nice. They dont have attitudes like other chinese resturants ive been to. The decor in this restaurant consist of a modern classic chinese theme. Using antiques infused with trendy modern looks, it enhances the customers mood of the place. The food is excellent and I am never afraid to order new stuff off the menu because I know that I will be satisfied. i strongly urge everyone to try out Windchimes because you will leave happy and will want to come back again, just like i do!!!!!
I would give a review of their food but...didnt make it that far. Major chip-on-the-shoulder Chinese punk waitress whos way too thin-skinned about her accent misunderstandings. I got tired of her sighs and attitude so I left. Lost sale, honey. I think she had some resentment right from the start because I brought in a Japanese language textbook...and she zoned right in on it. Spare me the island turf war issues and just focus on your job. Im not the one going to Yasukuni shrine. All I said was, I think Ive heard enough, Im passing on this. I dont care for your attitude. and started leaving but she still made some ignorant thug remarks to me as I was walking out. Wow. I thought I was at the mall, dealing with juveniles. Zaijian!
Two words. Seared Ahi. Seared godammed ahi. And it was perfectly done, including the delectable wasabi/teriyaki sauce with it. They also have solid entries for all your standard chinese entrees. But man I was not expecting that tuna. Also a good pokemon gym with decent turnover. My Squirtle Squad Squirtle Cash Money sends his regards.
I feel like the quality of food has gone down a bit. I ordered general tsos extra spicy and crab ragoons which is my usual order. Chicken was heavily battered almost half the piece was breading which was disappointing and wasnt hot at all I had to add extra sriracha to spice it up. Crab ragoons were only in an order of 4 and were undercooked and ended up being soggy when I ate them. Had really good pho from here a couple weeks ago but wont be back for general tsos or crab ragoons. Ive been coming here for years too.

2022-04-29DO NOT order from here unless you would like DRY, disgusting food. Ordered for carry out, as I am still trying to find a good Chinese carry-out restaurant in Columbus. I ordered the Sizzling Noodles with chicken, beef, shrimp stir fried with vegetables in brown sauce, which was described as, Thick egg noodles served on a hot skillet. I was so excited to find a great Asian noodle dish. Absolutely not. This was fried, burnt, dried out spaghetti with the sauce and meat served on the side. It looked like soup served with a side of dried out noodles. Obviously was not expecting much since it is never as good as in the restaurant, but I thought it would be like lo mein, where it is all served together, but this was unacceptable. I also got a side of fried rice just to try. This was the driest, blandest fried rice I have ever tasted. I am so disappointed, as the reviews were great and the pictures looked yummy, but looks like another Chinese restaurant bites the dust.

2022-04-02We have eaten here many times and are always pleased. We switched to take out during covid and have continued to bring our food home. This evening we ordered pot stickers, sesame chicken, happy family, chicken fried rice, and egg rolls. It was delicious. The young fellow at the register was friendly and courteous. I was surprised to read recent reviews. We were pleased as usual!

2022-03-19Its amazing how a service from a waitress can make you not return to a place. Well, this is the story of this lousy place, the service by the waitress, never at all pleasant, and demanding a tip, when she doesnt deserve it. I do not recommend it and if it goes from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM it is guaranteed that it will be a bad time, since it is a rush because the cook closes. bad waitress, you should consider looking for someone who really likes to serve.

2022-01-31Nice family that owns the business. I ordered the curry and was very skeptical of the potatoes in my dish and the sauce. Very mediocre food. The tofu is not drained and was very overwhelming in my dish. The other two dishes ordered on the other hand had more veggies.

2021-12-11Been eating here for 20 years. This is the first time the food was not good. Ordered Szechuan Chicken and House Fried Rice. Both were lacking meat and the meat that was there was very chewy. Rice was overdone. Skimpy on the servings as well. Very disappointed. May need to find a new place to order from. And they charged 50 cents extra for the fried noodles for the Won Ton Soup!

2022-03-19I just experienced the worst service level treatment of my life!! the waitress did a terrible job, she yelled at us and made us feel threatened for being the last customers… she just wanted to leave and started throwing the plates on the table!! The service at this place is the worst!!! I will never come back!

2021-10-19The staff are very nice and the restaurant is very clean. Their menu a wide variety of options to choose from. They had something I had not seen in a long time...Mu Shu. It was pretty good. I will probably try them again if Im in the area.
