Excellent Crunchy Pad Thai and Green Curry Chicken. This was our first visit, and well definitely be back. The service was some of the best we have ever received in Kent. In regards to the other comments; Not really for the average college budget, but was priced reasonable. If the portions were not large enough for you, try the buffet next door. Im a 64 220lb man who likes to eat and the portions are fine. And $2 for a soda is cheaper then most places.
I had heard about Wild Papaya in Kent far before actually visiting thanks to an app that I use called Foursquare. The restaurant is located on main street and near the student apartments which makes it convenient to get to, at least for me. I came to Wild Papaya on a Thursday night and was pleasantly surprised. The building was quaint, neatly decorated, had a small crowd, and was very ethnic. Our service was great too, and we were seated promptly, our orders were taken immediately and our food arrived in a good amount of time. I ordered the mango fried rice with tofu and it came garnished with an orange slice and edible carrot cutout flower. It was delicious! I thought that it was adorable that this restaurant thought to be that creative by garnishing their dishes with edible arrangements. The quality of the food is fantastic, and the portion sizes are generous, I had enough to take home that night. All in all, a really nice experience and their bubble teas are phenomenal as well! I tried my first ever in honeydew here at Wild Papaya and it was worth every penny. A really nice, highly recommended restaurant.
This place is totally worth a visit. The food is delicious and well priced, and there is something for everything, meat eaters or vegetarians. They are very good about dietary restrictions, they ask me every time I order if I have any allergies. They are fast, too. It feels like you just ordered and your food is there, hot and delicious. Highly recommended. The tofu string bean curry is my absolute favorite item on the menu.
You’ll find a home in this lovely Thai restaurant. My family and I have been coming to Wild Papaya for about 5 years whenever we are in Kent. We come to Ohio about once a year; the server always instantly remembers us and greets us with a big smile! The decor is warm and inviting with plenty of seating for families, singles, couples, kids. This is absolutely delicious Thai food that is true to my own culinary experiences in Thailand. My favorite dish is Pad See You! Be sure to ask for Mango Sticky Rice too 🤗An outstanding Thai food experience for all!
I adore Wild Papaya. The staff is always very sweet and the food is lovely. its a quiet, elegant place to sit and relax. Not to mention the food! Lemongrass chicken is my favorite but those papaya rolls and the coconut milk chicken soup are better than any other Thai place Ive been in big cities. This place is a gem in Kent and it deserves our support.
While in the area we chose to eat here for the first time based off of all the great reviews. We were not let down. The staff was friendly and courteous. The food was fresh and awesome. Lots to chose from Im the menu. Being that I have severe food allergies...I love the fact that they state in the menu several times to let your server know if you have allergies or health issues and need to make changes to any of the dishes.
I love Thai cuisine. I am always willing to try a new Thai restaurant. This one is going to surprise you. It is in an unassuming strip mall. We went at an odd time so it was not crowded. Every dish I tried was very tasty. I always have Massaman curry in any Thai restaurant I visit for the first time. The Massaman curry was outstanding. The summer rolls was refreshing. The sauce it came with was so yummy. And to top it all off the service was friendly and prompt. Will definitely return again.
Im vegetarian and this restaurant seemed to have a couple of good veggie options. I called and submitted a carryout order - tofu triangles, a vegetarian curry, and some sauteed vegetables. Two dishes were supposed to come with rice. I dispatched my husband, as he was going to another location to pick up another order. Wed never ordered from this place, but the meals were not what I expected. Nothing came with rice. The two vegetarian dishes were exactly the same. Im not even sure they were vegetarian. They had tofu, but also other sauteed things that looked like eggs that were not identifiable. From Yelp photos, I think this is the restaurants pad see you dish. I took a few bites and didnt feel confident enough that the dish was vegetarian. The tofu triangles were not anything like the description - no peanuts and not triangular. They could have been meat. I didnt eat it. Then there was a fourth dish with shrimp. I never ordered that. Now, my husband should have counted the number of dishes since I only ordered three, but what I was received was not right. My husband gave the people at the counter the names of the dishes I ordered. There was no one in the restaurant when my husband picked up the food. This place needs to invest in an online ordering system to get orders right. Never again. $35 of gross.
My first time here and so sad I didnt discover this great little restaurant sooner. The atmosphere was great because of the music. Spotless and clean and the food was fabulous. Fresh. Hot and was enough to split with co-diner! One entree. 2 appetizers and a drink...our. bill was 21.00!
While Ive only dined here once, the experience was very satisfying. The atmosphere is exquisite and decorative and very clean. This restaurant definitely cares about their appearance and it shows. The staff was very friendly, courteous, and attentive. The food quality was satisfying, as was its presentation. This place definitely exceeded my expectations. I will return.
HANDS DOWN the BEST Pad Thai you will ever have. And it’s been consistent for years and years. I lived in Kent for roughly 6 years and ate this all the time. Since moving an hour away, I still make the drive just to have this. I order Pad Thai from restaurants all the time, and not once has it ever come close to the Pad Thai Country Style (“spicy level 3”) from Wild Papaya.
Horrible food. My grandfather and I ordered the pad Thai. The menu said it comes with chicken and shrimp but they said we only get one choice. Fine. We ordered the shrimp. We got four tiny pieces of shrimp. The noddles were so dry. The dinners had no flavor. My mother got the pad Thai with tofu. Again, the noodles were dry. My grandmother got the pineapple rice. Again, the menu stated chicken and shrimp but it only came with chicken and two tiny pieces of pineapple. We will not be back.
This restaurant has TOP NOTCH food. Their egg rolls... light and flaky and perfectly cooked, not soggy with a clearly home made recipe get these to go in a heat sealing foil wrapper for an excellent treat. Everything has great attention to detail and a homemade touch. Eat Here!
Food was good. It wasnt the best Thai food, but for the area it was good. The service is the bad part. She was already walking away before hearing the rest of our order. She didnt understand how to split the bill either. It was clear that we were two couples on a double date. Why would one pay for the other? For the food: The Duck Cho Cee is good.
Just picked up dinner from here for my mom and I. Ive never left a review for anything but this was so good I felt like I had to tell someone! We had the Hot and Sour soup, yellow curry with tofu, and the mango sticky rice. All of it was amazing but the mango sticky rice is insanely good! Highly recommend it!
Outstanding. Fast, friendly service. Fresh ingredients, excellenty done. Pleasantly decorated. We will definitely be back. Located just past KSU to the east on 59. Parking right in front. Go, you wont be disappointed. We had garlic dishes that were outstanding. We both left wanting more.
We drove 38 miles from Youngstown since theres no Thai restaurants in our area. Food was so good we ordered a meal to go as well. Thai basil chicken and pad Thai were perfect with a nice presentation. Service was excellent and server offered great recommendations. Will look forward to going back soon.
Their waitress is the rudest and worst waitress of all time. The way she looks at you while taking your order makes you want to run for your life. Her attitude is the worst. Im thankful she only takes the order because if she was back there in the kitchen I wouldnt stay there. The weird part is, the two men working there are friendly though, but she hates it.
Ordered green curry and was given less than a 1/2 cup of rice. When we asked for more rice, we were charged $3 each extra serving of rice. You could clearly see where the hostess added this in after she calculated our bill, bring the total for four people to over $60! Not great food, terrible service, and over priced menu items. Big disappointment after reading other reviews. Won’t be back.
The Wild Papaya has such an asthetically pleasing and calming atmosphere. It makes your whole dining experience nice and relaxing. I love dining there. The Pad Thai is delicious. The service is perfect, respectful and calm. Its a great place to unwind and really enjoy your meal.
This. place. is. awesome. Weve been wanting to try it for quite some time, and boy, were glad we did. We got takeout, so I cant say how table service is, but everyone we interacted with was quite friendly and was efficient in getting our order to us. We placed an order during normal dinner hours and it was ready for pickup in 10 minutes, piping hot and really fresh. Very flavourful as well. Try the Pad See Ew--SO GOOD. My only regret is that I wish Id tried it sooner!
Im truly at a loss here. All the reviews seemed so good but what my fiancee and I got was mediocre at best but ultimately garbage imo. My noodles were over cooked, broken up mush with no flavor or spice. I didnt even finish it. My fiancee had a spicy shrimp soup that smelled absolutely putrid to the point we had to ask them to take it away. In the end we left still hungry and with $60 less than when we had arrived. We ended up at Swensons instead which I personally dont love but found 1000xs better than Wild Papaya. Maybe we should have gotten the Pad Thai instead? Perhaps. But from now on Ill stick to Lemongrass in Monroe Falls...
The food was ok but for the price was not worth it at all. They have no child menu so if you take children with you prepare to pay for another adult. $2 for pop and all your getting is half a can pored into your cup of ice. The waiters dont bother to check and see if you need anything. Even the lunch box isnt a deal. You hardly get anything for the price you pay. And if you want to take food home, forget it. They dont even bother to ask you they just take it away. First and last time I will ever go there! Evergreen right next door is a much better choice.
I have been going to the Wild Papaya for almost 2 years. I take my adult children whenever they are in town. We all love the food and friendly service. Its step or two up from the usual oriental restaurant. I try to go at least once a week, even though it is about a 25 mile drive from where I live.
Ive been disapointed my last three visits. Each time I go the food becomes progressively more bland. Crazy Noodles are devoid of flavor, basil rice was not good, prik pao was bland. The only reliable dish is pad thai/crunchy pad thai. I think the owner should look at their sauces/seasoning and taste the product they are putting out. Asking for spicy or extra spicy is also useless, the chili pepper in their menu can be ignored.
Food was ok but the dishes we got (fishermans treasure and lemon scallops) were a complete ripoff. There was maybe 2-3 pieces of squid, one mussel, and 3-4 pieces of paper thin slices of squid in fishermans treasure. The lemon scallops was a joke too. The scallops were nothing more than basically thinly sliced scallops. $32 wasted and we are never coming back again! Too stingy. Shouldnt have charged $14 and $16 for dishes that had barely any seafood in it. Also was told that theres not a lot of vegetables in our dishes and more than half of each dish consisted of vegetables. If I knew we would get ripped off this bad then I wouldve stayed home to cook or order from market districts stir fry.

2019-11-07I stopped in at a little after 8:30pm (they close at 9:30pm). I asked if they were still serving and she kindly told me yes and promptly sat me. Gave me time to look over the menu. I ordered the Thai Tea and the Duck Choo Chee. Both prepared perfectly and were delicious! The presentation was beautiful. After I finished, the waitress asked if I wanted dessert, even though they were closing in 15min. I got the Pumpkin Thai Custard (she recommended the pumpkin with a smile). Also delicious! My waitress was extremely nice and attentive. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the restaurant was very clean. I will definitely be back in. Thank you!!!!

2019-07-22Waitresss not friendly. Food was average. Air condition was down on a very hot day. We were told we could take out but we decided it was not too unbearable. We ordered Pad Thai and Penang curry on the Box lunch menu. It consists of a salad with peanut sauce, rice, curry, and spring rolls.

2018-10-13We had been wanting to try this spot for a while and I did not disappoint. My fiance is a picky eater so she generally goes with something familiar, so she had the orange chicken. Im not kidding when I say that it was the best orange chicken that either of us have ever had! I ended up get pad tai which was equally as good. This place has a quiet setting and I dont think our water glasses got below half full. Service was great and waitress was friendly. We have already been back for the orange chicken.

2018-05-10While visiting the granddaughter @ KSU, we decided to give this small Thai spot a try. We started with Edamame and Steamed (Chicken) Pot Stickers, which were hot, fresh, and very good. I ordered the Sizzling Pla Platter (no idea what the Pla stands for) and selected the whole fish option, which was indeed, a whole fish so be prepared. It was fresh tasting, quickly deep-fried Talapia that was served with the house brown sauce with chicken and vegetables. The fish had a crunchy outer skin and moist flavorful meat, which is a trick with normally tasteless talapia. Presentation was very appetizing (as long as you dont mind the fish staring back at you). Recommend the dish highly. My wife had Country style Pad Thai, which is a spicier version of regular Pad Thai. She said it was really not that spicy. My granddaughter had regular Pad Thai and loved it. However, both versions contained shrimp and chicken and both ladies complained that there were only two shrimp, which seemed a bit of a ripoff. Nice, clean place with a good selection of Thai favorites at reasonable (though not cheap) prices. Not a lot of seating, but adequate I think. Highly recommended!

2021-11-14The food was fresh and flavorful. Best chicken coconut soup, Green curry, and Pad Thai weve ever had. Friendly service and good portion size. You can tell a lot of care was put into creating these high quality dishes. We will be back often!

2021-08-25I love this place! Ordered the orange chicken and beef drunken noodles for takeout. Easily the best orange chicken Ive had. The lady who brought out our food was so friendly I would go back just because of that. Prices may be a little high but definitely worth it. The inside of the restaurant is also very nice and welcoming, clean and well-decorated. Eat here!

2021-11-24Appetizers were delicious. Soup was delicious. Curry came out and tasted like puke so we sent it back which is something I never do. The second dish was the same and the waitress tried to tell us that it was coconut milk and we werent used to the flavor. Which is absolutely ridiculous. So we paid and left. Will never go back.

2021-10-15I love this restaurant! I’ve been going here for about 4 years now and I never had a bad experience. The service is always pleasant and the music is relaxing. The food is always delicious. Big portions with lots of flavor! If you’ve never been here, I recommend the chicken pad thai or the shrimp pad thai to start off. From there, you can get a feel of the food and explore the menu. Give them a try!
