Westgate Park in other cities:
Decent park. I like to walk for exercise here. I feel safe and the neighborhood makes for nice scenery during the walk. Quiet neighborhood. Several areas for the kids to play and lots of open space for gatherings, sports and flying kites. Theres even a little area to fish, tennis courts, and racquetball courts. Theres a community center at this park as well that has a workout room, great gymnastics room, lots of class offerings and a game room with air hockey.
Very clean. They have a nice open shelter that can be rented, or 1st come 1st serve otherwise. Most of the time all rentals for the week are posted on Sunday. There is also a nice size building that can be rented, looks great for receptions and such. There is a beautiful pond that you can fish in, and a lot of activities in the community center. COVID Vaccine clinic every Friday through September 10, 2021 that gives you a $100 gift card when you get your vaccine. A couple nice playgrounds, basketball court and handball/ tennis practice courts.
Grew up coming to this park and although it has gone down over the years the city has put some money back into it and it is still enjoyable. Tons of open space, beautiful mature shade trees, playgrounds are meh...but kids tend to have fun regardless. Very diverse ethnicity wise which is great. Great place to work out, hang out or even take some family photos around the park.
The property is nice, my son likes the playset. We go here most often. It is not always clean, alot of people throw trash on the ground. You never know what kind of people are going to be there. Will it be a normal day? Will there be a fight in the parking lot? Will there be people smoking blunts on the playground? Will there be people drinking in smoking in the racquetball courts? You just never know.
Great minds place for the whole family. Can ride bikes, picnic, simply sit around the pond or let the kids play on the playground while you sit on the picnic tables and read and see them clearly. Also very often have special events that are fun including car shows and family events. Plus much more. Wish there was some regular restrooms but other than that great place to hang out with family.
Nice sized park with 2 walking paths, two playgrounds (one is for toddlers), a basketball court, a tennis court, 4 paddle ball courts, a fishing pond and an outdoor shelter. Theres also an enclosed shelter available for renting for events and parties. Fields for sports and 3 parking lots. Theres also a recreational center at this park. Its in a nice neighborhood also.
Great park with lots of trees and really cool art. Playgrounds are a blast and scenery is nice. Fishing pond is absolutely disgusting though and needs better upkeep. I blame lack of funding because otherwise the park is in pretty good condition in comparison to past visits over the past 10ish years.
Great place to get some fresh air and exercise. There is huge fields so if your dog can behave off leash its great for running. There are paths to walk on. There is three playgrounds, tons of swings, a basketballs court, a tennis court, a hand ball court, a pond you can fish in with the correct documentation of fishing licence. (Catch and release only!) They do have a rec center and a shelter house!
There is such a wide variety of essential park features here that no one could be bored/left out: playground equipment, space to run around, shade, fields, a casting pond, picnic tables, benches, trash cans (near the tables)... most of the park was nice and clean, and it was obvious (while I was there) that families prize this park. I do too! It just needs an extra bathroom or two (besides the buildings that are mostly off-limits right now).
I love Westgate Park. Its approx 1 mile loop around the park, so if youre looking to get some steps in or walk a dog, its a great place to be active. The pond is gorgeous, and the new shelter-house is state of the art. I love taking my niece and nephew to play in the park. There are two major areas and they have a good balance of shade and sunshine. Theres an ice cream truck that drives through and around the park on summers. Its a pretty idyllic place to be on a warm evening. As with any park, keep an eye on your kids and belongings and youll be fine. We so enjoy this well-kept (arguably best-kept?) secret here in the middle of Columbus!
This is one of the best parks,on the Hilltop. The community around it is very middle-class, friendly and clean. The park is a mile long n diameter, has a track for jogging or power walking, also two play areas with obstacles n slides for older or younger kids, three tennis courts and a basketball court. It has a outside shelter, free to the public-across from the pond, and a indoor shelter available for rent. This park has plenty of trees and outdoor grills also a Recreation Center with programs for the kids
Great place to take children to play , and for adults to enjoy a walk on the paved path that surrounds the park. Includes a nice enclosed shelter available to rent for events; a/c and heated. Soccer field, b- ball and tennis court. Could use a few more trees for shade though.
This large park has plenty of green space in addition to a pond, shelters, play areas, and athletic fields. It is large enough to accommodate many users without getting crowded. However, this is an urban park, which can come with the issues of inconsiderate users. You will likely encounter litter or graffiti, and traffic noise nearby may disturb your quiet enjoyment.Overall, the parks and recreation department do a wonderful job of maintaining and improving the park, despite its issues, and it is still a nice place nearby for bike rides, playing at the playground, or having a picnic.
Basketball courts are still not up, park doesnt have enough to do really. Its not what it used to be thats for sure. The recreational center is still down which is a shame because it was awesome back then.. its a real shame to see this park become so trashy and full of ghetto rift-rafts who litter and smell and bump garbage music in their car with no feelings given.. no good anymore, needs new things for our local community and some love an care.
I use to love going to the bean dinner and cars in the park. Although about five years in a row it seems like it was who you knew to get your car to win. The drama recently at the events have turned me off to returning and making and a family tradition with my son sadly.
This is a nice neighborhood Park that comes with history. Fort Chase during the Civil War, eat year they have a a beans and cornbread festival. I went to one and the corn bread and beans were excellent, of course. The band they had a liked because ever play in some salt tree, blues blues Rock. Other than that the the park just kept clean. It is not known for night time Misadventures. The pads connect two large walkway around the small Lake. The small Lake does not have a fence, the park itself does not have a fence, do not let your children run when you get near the lake, treat it as though its a in-ground pool at a friends house with no gate or no fence and you dont know where your kids at. Theres parking within the park theres a backside neighborhood roads its easier to get in and out of sometimes the shelter there I think its rental the one with the roof electric and everything regular building. Check it out. Keep it clean if you see litter pick it up unless theres way too much of course it that shouldnt be
This is my lil ones best park ! She calls it Her Westgate Park !! It is a nice park to go let your children play, have a cook out, or just to go enjoy a walk on the path around it or through the grass in the infield of the park. The annual Bean Dinner Event every year is a joy to attend w/family& friends. So ,the next time you are trying to think of something to do ,Think Westgate Park, Youll be glad you did .
I run around the park usually 3 times a week. Theres a pullup bar and situp bench next to the parking lot, and the park is just over a mile around which helps with working out. The playgrounds are awesome. There are also tennis courts, basketball courts, racketball courts, a football field, and baseball diamonds. The shelter house rennovation is very nice and is perfect to reserve for a family gathering or graduation.
Great place to relax. Has lake, basketball court, swings, handball court, grass, a mural, in a compact park near school. Quiet neighborhood, residents in the immediate area, and those who frequent Westgate park do their best to take care of the park.Enjoy your visit!☺
This park is nice but not very safe. The area and location offerings access for druggie from the bottom and the hilltop hoods to hangout. People has gotten harass and robbed. It a small park that has potential for you and families, but it locations of surrounded by bad situation!
Theres a little bit of everything to do at Westgate. I walk the track often. There is a playground area with swings for children to play. Theres also basketball, tennis, and racquetball courts.A fishing pond in the center. The actual recreation center is there. They even have a shelter house to rent for events on site. I ❤ this place.
I fell off the monkey bars and broke my nose when I was seven years old. There used to be a turtle fountain we played in as kids. The powers that be replaced it with the A B C sculpture and mulch. I fell through the ice on Westgate Pond in eighth grade and almost died of hypothermia. Good times, great neighborhood park.
First time visiting. It smelled so badly of dead rotting fish, there was dead fish floating in the water, looks like the water system hasnt worked in who knows how long. Sketchy people hanging out, parks are supposed to be a place where you can go and relax, take your family. Will never go back.
Not the best place, but surprisingly not bad. It is in the heart of Hilltop, but dont let that scare you. Were from Galloway and drove over here for the tennis courts. Not in bad shape, either. Has about a mile loop around with well paved blacktop and concrete. Has a couple soccer fields, small skate park (I think thats what that was...) and a fishing pond. Nice little diamond in the rough.
To that one guy (you know who you are) stop throwing shipping carts into the pond. I bet the bottom of that pond is filled with styrofoam coolers, needles, cigarello wrappers, carts, Tupac, and Grippo bags. Notice how I didnt say ducks. The one place you think theyd be.
A gem of a park in the Westgate neighborhood. This large park offers great picnicking areas; two shelter houses; a pond; tennis, basketball, and handball courts; swingsets; and a newly renovated city recreation center. Perfect for a stroll or relaxation on the swings, this urban oasis is a wonderful asset for the community.
We love Westgate Park! A lovely pond, the best Recreation Center in Columbus, lit tennis courts, racquetball courts, basketball courts, fishig, soccer fields, baseball field, football fields, wonderful gardens and beautiful picnic spots. The neighborhood invests in the park with art, sculptures, regular clean-ups, and benches.
My girlfriend apt got broken into, the destroyed the front door and frame. maintenance did a (temporary fix) buy adding couple wood wedges in frame.... Leaving a 1nch half gap in front door, you can see straight threw to the outside. They said they would have the door replace/fixed by Monday then they said by the weekend, month later no door and still a gap.

2021-06-12Three play areas, racket ball courts, and swings. Really beautiful area with murals. The park is on the site of camp chase, so you get a little history lesson as well.

2022-05-01●Pretty busy, but we still found a table to sit at.■It would be nice if they had grills. But Im sure that they used to. People just dont cherish anything anymore.●The port-a-pot was beyond horrible, 🤢🤮■I did to pick up alot of trash. Someone had even sat at a table, had a whole pizza meal, soda and all. And just left the trash & empty pizza boxes sitting on the table. 🗑 🚮●But the most irrating of all. Their was a bunch of bad little kids running around with no parent supervision. I understand letting your kids go to the park unsupervised, if you can trust them. And their old enough. But these kids were & im guessing to be 6 to 9 years. The 1 little girl who was playing with my daughter was 8. She was at the park without a parent & had her 4 year old brother with her. She was not watching him what so ever. But shes just a little kid her self. 😦😞But if your kids are running around the park stealing from people, cussing like their grown, bullying other little kids, breaking into cars!! PUT THEM ON SOME LEASHES!!🤣🤣

2022-03-16Its a nice park. There isnt anything fancy however my 11 year olds always have a great time. If you kiddos are younger, theres a fenced in park with benches and handicapped parking right in front of it.

2019-07-30Super nice park. Many beautiful old trees. Has ball diamond, basketball court, multiple tennis courts with night lights. 6 tennis practice stalls with murals on the outside. There are two sets of playgrounds and many swings. Two outside shelterhouses and another one that is very large and enclosed. There is a beautiful grove of older trees and a pond.

2022-06-23Could use more patrols. If we can focus on Westgate and Big Run Parks we could cripple the crime in the area. All we need is community support and the cities support in condemning placing like Wedgewood apartments. Insane amounts of possibilities here....

2020-06-07The park is very spacious and has lots of picnic tables. The park has squirrels, geese and other birds at any given time. Its nice to be able to teach the children what other types of birds and animals are by showing them the live version instead of in a book or on the computer screen.
