Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse in other cities:
Terrible seating, not kid friendly. We were placed at a table with less than two feet between it and the wall making navigating with chairs and people impossible.High chairs are far, far, far too low to reach tables. Our toddler wasnt given a place at the table so had no plate and no table space on the corner - presumably to allow them to cram more people at the table rather than focus on good service.Food was alright.
We had a very good experience here for the first visit. You really do get a lot of food for the price. For some it might end up being two meals you take home. The chef we had was hilarious and seemed to be very happy with non stop comebacks and jokes. I cannot remember his name unfortunately but if I get to go back I will update.
My cook was very nice...However while he was cooking my food he was sweating perfusly all down his arms and the sweat was dripping into the food...he should have had gloves or long sleeves..the soup has been changed from a delicious chicken based into beef HORRIBLE...I WAS TOTALLY UNSATISFIED!!! I CALLED to tell the manager and she told me she was sorry there was nothing she could do for me...However the next time I came in to ask for her and shed request our cook work gloves...My son purchased me the filet mien meal with shrimp and chicken which was pretty costly for a late Mothers Day which was Also my Birthday....Nothing you can do...the Health department isnt far away Im going to stick with A 1...This place has truly went down and I hadnt eaten here in a while I was excited my taste buds were ready all to get let down...smh DO BETTER GUYS 👎👎👎👎
See photo...this was vegetables, noodles, and fried rice served. Chef served an overabundance to some and barely any to others. Chef completely ran out of noodles so the last person had to wait because the Chef cooked more (the amount seen in picture) We spent $400 for a birthday dinner and more than disappointed.
There are two sides to this establishment, the Hibachi side and the traditional restraunt side which also includes bar seating. We have always had good service and good food on both sides of the restaurant. The Hibachi is where the seats are distributed around the cooking area and the chef performs and entertains while cooking your food in front of everyone. I had steak and scallops which were delicious, the Geisha cocktail, which I did not like. There is a hidden gem to the dinner which most people tend to enjoy which is the salad. The triple ginger dressing for the salad is killer!
I went with a large group and we did the hibachi style side of things. They were quick to help us out and every person I came into contact with was super nice. I got the chicken lunch option and I think it was $10 - so I was happy with that price! Highly recommended to anyone looking for something a little different in the area.
This is quite the place. It is like dinner and a show. The hibachi chefs are always very talented and entertaining. The food is always great and it is always fun to be able to watch your food prepared and made right in front of you while you wait. The food is delicious and I cant wait to go back and enjoy it again. Check them out.
Let me start by saying the food was great and the cook was awesome, unfortunately that was about it. It was 59 degrees and I had to wear a coat the entire time because of the cold wind hitting my back. The server acted like he didnt want to be there! He forgot to get the ice cream for 4 children we had and when asked if we can have it he got an attitude! We asked for bags when we were leaving since we all had to go boxes he went to get them and just tossed them at us. Me and my wife also sat in chairs that are falling apart felt like it was going to break at any time. It was also very dirty they sat us as they were still cleaning up from the last guests and they didnt do a good job.
Had a work holiday gathering here recently and was fairly underwhelmed by the experience. I think the most striking aspect of the whole evening was how cold the entire restaurant was due to the entrance door opening and closing constantly combined with the large amount of exhaust fans spread through the restaurant in order to fully vent the cooking areas. I usually dont feel cold, but was noticeabley cold for the majority of the visit, outside of when the chefs were cooking in front of us.The actual worst part of the evening was the approx. hour we had to wait between sitting down and the cooks arriving. There appeared to be a mix up so we sat waiting while one unlucky gentleman waiter had to try and keep everyone happy while also waiting on other parties. He did his best to appease us, but just couldnt keep up with the drink orders as each of us waited anywhere from 5-15 minutes to get our drink after we ordered it. The salad we ate while waiting barely had any lettuce in it and the ginger dressing was also EXTREMELY watery. When the cooks and unprepared food finally came out, in the cook proceeded to very quickly and very sloppily try to throw everyones meal together. He seemed to be trying to speed through the experience part of the meal to catch up given how late they were. This led to food being poorly cooked and everyones order seemed to not matter as he just kind of threw a mixture of everything he had on the grill on to everyones plate. Everyone got fried rice even though not everyone ordered it, and quite a few proteins were put on plates that didnt order them, which seemed to thin out portions for those who did order them. Its also been a while since I have been to a Japanese Steakhouse, so perhaps I just dont remember, but the food all seemed to taste somewhat bland and consistent as everything seemed to be cooked and steamed with this soy mixture in a squirt bottle that was excessively sprayed on to everything that went on to the grill. Lastly, the lobster, shrimp, and steak were all cooked the exact same amount of time and everything came out overcooked.Overall this experience was underwhelming and I wont be visiting this business/location again.
When I travel to Canton for work, this is a must stop. I really enjoy the special rolls at Wasabi’s. I tried the Hurricane roll and I must say that this is a very good roll. Enjoyed the variety of tuna and salmon with this roll and the fish was cool and fresh. The Angry Dragon is my favorite of all rolls. I sub salmon for the tuna and just enjoy this with a tall Sapporo beer. Awesome taste.
Started off with two 6 count California roll and crab roll appetizers for my girlfriend my son and myself. We recieved are appetizers fairly quick and gave our main course orders. I had the trio which consists of steak, shrimp and chicken. It was very good. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp and chicken combo and my son ordered the shrimp. We all got fried rice vegetables and noodles. Our chef was very hands on and pretty funny as well. If you are over the age of 21 I really recommend the saki when the chef offers it! It was fairly expensive at just over 100 dollars before tip but the portion sizes are very big. We enjoyed everything and will go back to have another wonderful experience.
While a bit expensive overall, the quality of the food was excellent and the show that you get during a meal is certainly worthwhile. Few vegetarian options exist, but they do cater selections to you once they know that you dont eat meat. Plenty to choose from on the menu and the bar has a good assortment as well. Would visit with family and friends again.
The sushi rolls are great and you get a lot for your money, but prices are high if eating al cart but well worth it. Only issue I ahd was the restroom was very dirty and in need of a good scrubbing down. I have been in gas station restrooms that were cleaner. For a high end restaurant I did expect it to be better. I understand good help is hard to come by but the restrooms are not really an option during covid not to be cleaned well.
This used to be one of my favorite places to go but this experience was different. As soon as we walked in the restaurant smelled funny. The table had a layer of grease over it that was very nasty. I asked the waiter to wipe it down and she just gave me a napkin to do it my self. The ginger sauce seem to have been watered down, and the portions were so big and out of control I would barely eat it. As pictured my plate had so much chicken on it I don’t think they portioned it out correctly. I felt bad for the other person who ordered chicken. Will not be coming back here very bad experience.
First off, Ive been to this Wasabi when it first opened and it was amazing. We came for my husbands birthday today and were severely disappointed. We got there as soon as they opened at 2. Floors were noticably dirty, hood vents over the table looked like they were dripping water. Waiter was friendly but quiet. Bathrooms are absolutely disgusting! Doesnt look like anyone had cleaned them in a while. Seems like the staff could care less to be there.. food was good but not like I remembered and extremely salty. Definitely not worth the money we spent and will probably never go back. Overall, this place seems like a dump.
I was not going to say anything until my fiance and I got food poisoning after are last visit. The bathrooms were so dirty I could not even eat my meal from being so grossed out. Chemical bottles just laying on the ground and counter. The bathrooms smelt so bad and looked as if they had not been cleaned in weeks. I could only imagine what the kitchen looked like. I should have known when we walked into the lobby and there was no wait, and many open tables on both sides of the dinning rooms. My family enjoyed the show, but we all got very sick after leaving and eating our meals the next day. I would not step foot back into this location. The health department should be called. The floors were so slippery, coated with grease, I had to tip toe on the floor so I did not fall mind you I am 25 weeks pregnant. You could see the nasty grease and food on the walls. The host was walking around with a crop top on and leggings showing lots of skin. For a steakhouse and the money spent I was not expecting this experience at all nor have I ever. The salad bowl was half full of water as well and chicken was not cooked. I watched the chef pull out food from the catch tray that should have been tossed. Overall just a terrible experience and very upset because we love Wasabi, we will never return to this location and you shouldnt either unless you want food poisoning and to slip and fall on your head.
Had reservations for my daughters 17th birthday 12/30. The server wouldnt refill their waters, was rude, and this isnt the experience you want for your birthday. Even after telling them it was her birthday they still didnt sing, or acknowledge that for her. Very disappointed. I will go to A1 moving forward
Waiter and Cook were pretty spot on, but the heat had to be broken. We looked at the thermostat on the wall and it was 54 degrees in the building. We had the cook light some alcohol on the cook top just to make us warmer. We should of left but our group of people were very hungry. If you go there when its cold out prepare to freeze
Service was excellent. The chef will cook your food right in front of you. The chef was very entertaining and the price for what you get is reasonable depending on what you order. I got the shrimp and scallops combo for $29 dollars. You walk out of there with at least one more full meal to eat later. Thats around $14.50 per meal if you break it down. For me, I took home leftovers for 1.5 meals. For the taste and quality of the food, it is so worth it!
This has always been one of my favorite restaurants since they put it in at the Strip. But I have noticed it going downhill over the years. The food quality is still pretty good but there are chips in the dishes and yesterday when we into the restroom yesterday I just about lost my appetite. It looked and smelled like it had not been cleaned in a long time and the locks were broken on the stalls. Its things like this that give an overall “shabby” vibe to a once very nice establishment.
Have a life event that youd like to celebrate with a bit of entertainment? Then this is the place to eat. The food is a step above A1 Japan. If youre planning on going during the weekend, make a reservation. Otherwise youll have to eat on the non-hibachi side. The food tastes great and the chefs keep the laughs coming. Free ice cream is available for the individual celebrating a birthday. If you dont over indulge, youll definitely have enough for a second meal the following day. As a warning, this place is pretty loud.
Love the restaurant, server and chef but the hostess that was dressed like she came to work at the strip club has a very nasty attitude!!! The customer service was great from Erica and David!!!! They were fantastic and deserve a five star review. I honestly would have given a 5 star review overall but she ruined the customer experience!!!
Very dirty! We were a party of 8 and everyone’s plate and utensils had dried food in them. Table was dirty when we sat down. Service was ok at best. Food was typical for this place. Lots of low quality. Acknowledged dirty plates and still charged minimum of 18% gratuity and hinted I could tip extra. No thanks. Restrooms were filthy. Don’t recommend until some cleanliness issues are addressed.
To start this off I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I am from out of town and in canton for work decided I really wanted sushi and I could only find two Japanese steakhouse places and I chose this one since it had decent reviews. Where the problem I had with them is that the salads weren’t very good the soup wasn’t bad. When I went to order I got sushi and hibachi. 1. The sushi never came out 2. Fried rice wasn’t good at all but the noodles were decent. 3. Back home we have a couple different places like this one is cheaper with regular hibachi around $12 and other one that’s really nice and around $20-25 per plate. This place had the the same prices and even more then the high end sushi place and in my opinion wasn’t even close to being as good as either one of them. I hate to spend $60 for two people when it’s turns out like this, now if it was good I wouldn’t complain about the pricing at all.
Food was great (aside from the cold soup), hibachi chef was awesome, and server was decent. The cleanliness and sanitation factor are a completely different story. Almost walked out. Plates and forks were dirty with old food stuck on them. The bathrooms were disgusting... I wonder what the kitchen looks like where the food is being prepped. Probably wont be back unless they clean the place up.
Amazing food. I’ve been to other Japanese steakhouses and this one is far the best. The chef was great with our kids and the service was on the ball! We were hesitant to go because of the low ratings but we were super impressed!! We already scheduled our reservations for next weekend!!!
Covid ReviewThis place is absolutely awesome. The staff were very accommodating, and super friendly. It was my birthday, and they made me feel like a king. The food is outstanding. Ive been to a couple places for hibachi but this was by far and away the best for portion and taste. The sushi was so fresh and delicious, and the portion was great for each roll.Ill be coming back and cant recommend enough
Long waits on a weekend night are expected, so no complaints there. Service was ok, definitely not what I expected. This was our first time sitting at a table, and not at the grill. Now the food quality was definitely poor. My wifes plate came out perfect the steak cooked just right, her plate and food nice and hot. Mine however was way over cookedOrdered medium rare and got this dried out, flavorless well done steak, paird with over cooked shrimp. Paid 30 dollars for a steak, I expect it to be cooked correctly. After waiting for so long for food I just asked for boxes and we left. Really disappointed in the quality.
This place is filthy and I had my doubts about it just by how the entry was kept but moved on and was seated at an hibachi table. Smart by keeping the place so dark that you can not tell. I had to use my phone on the menu to read some small print and it was dirty, the plates were dirty, chairs, table and the entire surrounding was filthy. We walked out to go somewhere else. This was a birthday dinner for my girlfriend and a huge disappointment.
I love this place! Proportion sizes are great! Every time we go here we spend about as much as you would spend at any other sit-down restaurant. But, we go home with 2 full bellies and two full meals left over for lunch the next day 😊 The food is incredible, and the dining area is beautiful on both The hibachi side and the regular side.
Amazing service, Hibachi, and sushi. Great alcohol picks as well. The bartenders always seem to know their stuff and are very accommodating. Scene/decorations are nice as well. Been here roughly 30 times over the years, always leave with a full belly and a smile on my face. Keep up the greatness!
I dont know that Ive ever done, this but we got up and left the restaurant even after ordering! It was filthy from the floors to the table all of our plates and even the silverware that was wrapped in linen. The worst part I think though was there was no soap in the bathroom, the same bathroom that all of the employees serving the food use!
Our food and chef William were amazing. He cooks great, is engaged with guests and very personable. He has been around the world. My wife is Filipino and knew some of her native tongue. What a great night out, since we didnt have our kids since they were at a friends house. Totally worth it!!! Cant wait to go back!
We went the other night and it was crazy busy. We were told 45 minute wait. That was ok we could go to some stores and kill time. But an hour and a half later we walk in to make sure they hadnt called the phone and we missed and they said its still gonna be awhile. An hour later we were seated. So 45 minutes turned to 2 1/2 hours. Sat down, and no menu. Just a sheet with a barcode? Neither me or my husbands phones function that way. So asked for a menu and we get one. So we have to turn it sideways and try to both look at one menu. It was also so cold I couldnt take my coat off to eat. I was sitting there shivering.Once we got the food it was good. Was it worth 2 1/2 hour wait and sitting in freezing cold? Not really.
Bartender and waitress. Was awesome. The hostess not so much. Multiple people tonight was told 10-15 min wait for the non hibachi side. An hr later finally seated. Waitress was very nice. Asked about 40 minutes in askedhow long until we have a table hostess said probably a while. Bathrooms were also horrible. I have never had a bad experience here. Hostess wouldnt even lookup when people walked in or walked out. They just continued to talk to each other. I was polite and didnt say anything. I usually dont leave horrible reviews but this was kinda insane
I really don’t know why I’m even doing 2 stars instead of 1. I found the place to be pretty dirty for one. They had empty sauce trays at all the seats, the ‘clean’ ones infront of me had old sauce dripped down the side. When I got my ice water. Thought I saw dirt on the outside. Turns out it was on the inside of cup. Legit dirt. I asked for chicken and shrimp hibachi with white steamed rice. The chef insisted on me having the fried rice, I think he just forgot I ordered steamed. So. Guess he decided for me that I was going to have fried. He commented after putting the rice on my plate “see! you didn’t know what you were missing” I’m also pregnant so this whole situation was a huge turn off. Glad my Godson enjoyed it (he’s 9). The “show” was ok.
Love the portions available and somewhat dim light, classy, upbeat atmosphere...staff was very friendly...not too expensive and just ideal for going out in larger groups...of course there are smaller groups as well...but it was really the atmosphere and upbeat attitude that got my attention...I have eaten Asian food before at various places...Wasabi just looked a little different and felt a little different...and I would certainly go back
Food is great and so is the atmosphere! The wait staff is friendly and helpful if you have a question about the food. The hibachi side is fun and entertaining. The regular side is nice and elegant. Would definitely recommend for a fun date night! The food is always delicious! The variety is great! If someone isnt that into sushi they have other great options. Price is a little higher, but worth it!
Always a good time! The food is fabulous, the service is spectacular & the chefs are always a hoot! I always enjoy every aspect of our experience at Wasabi & cant wait to go again. Also you get more food than you can possibly eat in one sitting. Great food & always plenty leftovers for the next day!💕
My husband and I have been a regular customers for about 6 years and counting. I am thankful that there is call ahead seating available as I am currently working in Cleveland. Reservations went smoothly. Shoutout to the hostess for being awesome informing ahead of time about covid 19 restrictions over the phone prior to our reservation...the chef did a top notch performance as always and the food was exquisite....however I would like to extend a special thank you to our waiter Brent. He did an amazing job with the detail work of the rest of the guests at the table not in my and my husbands party. Hard work, absolutely outstanding customer service and close attention to detail deserves praise - thank you for keeping the quality high at my favorite restaurant. My experiences at Wasabi keep getting better and better. We will definitely be back soon!!!
Very pricey, but well worth it! EVERYONE took home a to go box.The hibachi chef was friendly and fun. Waitress was efficient and welcoming. The food just kept coming. Entrees come with SO many sides. They even box your leftovers for you right there! Highly recommend, but be prepared for sticker shock.
If you like cold food twice in a row you got the right restaurant! We got 30% discount from the manager after we sent our food back once because it was cold and guess what round 2 was just as cold if not colder. All the meats were cold and very disappointed manager wasnt the friendliest ended up giving my brother his meal free but I paid for both mine didnt ask for anything. The steak and chicken were so dried out you couldnt even think to eat it! 65 dollars down the drain! What a waste! We wont be back ever!
We always have a great meal here. Its a fairly busy restaurant most evenings, but our waiter was helpful, polite and quick. The food is wonderful. We cook a lot at home and we are good at it, so if we are going to spend money eating out the meal needs to be excellent! Wasabi meets our expectations. We will be back again.
Everytime I come here they absolutely provide a 5 star experience. The best hibachi food Ive ever had across the US. Today my son puked during the cooking and the waiter and cook were AMAZING at helping with him, cooking quick and making it so we could leave early as possible. This is my favorite restaurant. Unfortunately the food does give me an upset stomach after. But its definitely worth it.
Took my girlfriend and my mother for my mothers belated birthday yesterday and was shocked at the service. Ive been several times and never had an issue with my shellfish allergy. Yesterday I said it so many times to different servers to warn them I have an anaphylactic allergy to shellfish. The chef started cooking and when he went to cook meat he just went and threw the salmon on the grill which was on a plate with shrimp. He did it so fast I didnt have time to say anything before it was on. Then he just scooped it back off the grill with the spatula and put it back on the tray that is already contaminated with shellfish. So I ate my food and had a reactionstarting by the time I left. Had to run over to Walmart and buy liquid gel benadryl and take it then go to bed and throw out $26+ in food. Now Ive worked in the food industry in the past and the protocol for cross contamination is they should have moved me to another table that hadnt begun cooking or cleaned the whole table off and started over. If you have an allergy just skip this place they wont pay attention to you and they charge too damn much to be risking your life.
The food was top notch. Very pricey. The chef was very entertaining. The atmosphere was cozy yet minimal. The ladies restroom was neat and orderly. I did not like how the tip was automatically added to my bill however. They shortchanged themselves, as i always tip great service more than what they charged. I found it rude that they added what they deemed to be an obligatory and satisfactory tip.
We must have had a cook on his actual first night, kind of entertaining but not really.....very nice, but he doesnt have a routine or anything down. The sushi was just ok, the steak/chicken/shrimp/scallops were subpar, the fried rice was bland, the veggies needed to be cooked a little more. It was not worth the $160 we spent on 3 people, thats for sure! Our waitress Elizabeth was really nice tho and kept our drinks filled, and was very attentive! I would give her 5 stars!!!
We had a terrible experience at the Canton Wasabi!! Our cook didn’t do the fun things which we’ve experienced in the past. He basically cooked. He barely spoke. We were celebrating a birthday and spent a lot of money To be only very disappointed. Our waitress asked how things were at the end of our dinner and we explained our cook was terrible. She told the manager and came back to our table and said the manager would not come out to talk to us. How can a manager refuse to speak to a customer?? We didn’t want anything off our bill, but the manager should have come out to talk to us about our complaint. We will never come back after that. We will go down the street the next time we want hibachi.I do have to say our waitress was wonderful. Please don’t spend your hard earned money in a place that doesn’t appreciate their customer!
Very disappointed in the service for the amount of money you spend. Tried getting a gift card which came with a free promotional gift card and was told by the manager if dining in would have to wait till after the meal to purchase the gift card to use on a later date!. I can understand you cannot use the promotional gift card on the same visit however the gift card i paid for i should be able to use immediately! I took advantage of this promo back in November which was not a problem. We asked our server and she said we can use the giftcard we purchased and the promotional card must be used at a later date. I upgraded the rating because our server who will remain un-named corrected the situation. This young manager should know his promotions and treat customers better who basically called me a liar. Ive been in customer service and retail management for over 20 years and would never treat a customer this way. Definitely a coaching opportunity here!
The food was horrible, the service bad and it is horribly filthy there. The did not practice social distancing. The server pulled his mask down every time he spoke although it’s advised no never touch your mask. They cooked and served the rice, then cooked and served the noodles, then cooked and served the vegetables and finally cooked the meat. They ran out of salad and when we asked about it, they served it after the grueling wait to get our entire meal. Although the food was bad, the disgusting filth is why I will NEVER return. Worst $30 I ever spent.
Wow what a let down. Service was terrible. Our waiter never showed up the whole time we ate. We had to go find someone to give us water. Never received the drink that I asked for twice. They squeezed a large party onto our table so we were packed in there. Then they charged everyone for a filet mignon (please check your bill). They added 18% tip onto our bills and thats all they got. Worst service and experience ever, you need to hire somemore waiters if your that busy. Will go back to A1.
Not near as good as what Ive had at other places. We decided to try it out after everyone raved about it. Waitress was great. Very friendly and kept our drinks filled. Thats the only reason Im giving it a star. The food was not that great. Too much soy sauce on everything and it seems like they dropped ginger on some lettuce and called it a salad. The yum yum sauce was less than desirable and it was disappointing to have to pay extra if I wanted fried rice over steamed rice. My 5 year old loves the noodles at A-1 Japanese Steakhouse, but wouldnt touch these noodles. I walked out of there paying $93 for 3 people and we didnt even get the most expensive stuff. I would still be willing to try the Wasabi in Akron, but I will not be going back to the one in North Canton.
This was the very first time that I had ever ate at this restaurant. I had heard wonderful things about it. Unfortunately there must have been different people cooking at your table. I ordered the surf and turf and told them I wanted my steak medium rare it was kind of that way but more medium and the lobster tail was completely overcooked. The food had too much salt and garlic especially the lobster. As far as the service we received our waiter was very good and I had no complaints with that part of our meal. But I can tell you I will never eat there again.
Our experience is always good but this particular one was especially good and speaks to the service of Wasabi.First, my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and we happened to forget our food. We did not realize this was the case until about 40 minutes later and I called back and they threw the food away. However, my wife asked if there was anything that could be done. So, the manager (Amanda at this time) had them remake both of our orders to the fullest and gave it to us in a gift bag, which was astoundingly nice.Second, our server (Nicole), we had her a couple of times and she was nice and helpful and kindly interactive. We feel that she deserves to have some light shown in her direction because of this fact because it seems not many people anymore take serving very seriously and lack respect but that is not at all the case (based on our experience) for this place. We highly recommend Wasabi and we do so far and above that of A1 Japanese Steakhouse. Enjoy.
I really enjoyed my visit here! the hostesses were great with my toddler. the serving staff very polite and helpful. the drink refills and occassional checking in throughout the meal was appreciated. we were very well taken care of!!!the sushi tasted very clean amd fresh. they have generous portions and a wide variety of sushi. you truly get your moneys worth. it was worth the hour and 20 minutes we drove to get there.
Theyve added noodles since we were there last. Oh man, we waddled out. Fried rice was awesome, shrimp and lobster ($31) was really good. Filet and shrimp ($30) was cooked perfectly and was delicious too. The yum yum sauce absolutely tops off the meal. Our chef was amazing and energetic. Perfect night or for a celebration of any sort. With no alcohol, our 5 meals totaled $180.
Food was excellent. Prices were what I would consider normal for good Japanese hibachi. The chef wasnt much to speak of in the way of entertainment but I guess once you have seen a few different ones the tricks seem to all be the same. Our server was pretty good for the most part attentive but could have been better since the place wasnt very busy when we were there and our table wasnt even full. Drinks sat empty for several minutes before being refilled a few times but I guess if that is the only complaint then you have that just about anywhere now.The inside of the place is really nice and it seems to be pretty upscale when you walk in.Overall had a good experience with my party of 4 including 2 teenagers who enjoyed the food as well.
First time in a while meeting friends there, also first not great experience. Drinks took forever to receive, drinks and food orders were all messed up, then my friend never received his main course...yikes. We told our waiter about the issues and the manager provided my friend with a complimentary drink for the problems. My friend informed the manager that he no longer wanted the meal since everyone was already done eating and he had eaten some of the appetizers that we all ordered. The bills come, which are all wrong and have to be fixed...including my hungry friends, which included and extra drink(manager bought) and the meal he never got. All bad that night but the food was good!
It’s a lot of fun to eat here! It’s great watching the chef prepare your food skillfully in front of you, even throwing in tricks and still cooking everything perfectly! It’s definitely too pricey to be a regular stop for someone like myself but it’s certainly a place everyone should visit at least once with their friends or family!
They dont want money.Ive been here many times. Despite the occasional meh experience, and tales of what happens behind the kitchen doors, Ive generally had a good experience here.. until fairly recently. The last couple times Ive been here have been markedly worse, and just tonight, I was in with a small group, the restaurant was half empty and I was told there would be a 15 minute wait. I understand they dont want to seat a small party at a whole table, I get it. But we waited for 45 minutes with no updates, and several people walked in and were seated in hibachi right away or waited substantially less. The girls at the entrance seemed bored and were mostly just chatting to each other the entire time. When I said we were going to leave to find somewhere that would seat us we were given a couple little giggles and a casual okayyyy byyyeeeeeeee as we walked out. Embarrassing. Was just looking to have a good fun night with family. I dont think I really want to come back anytime soon.
As always the food is fantastic and the chefs are amazing. But the rest of the staff including the . bartender usually have their faces buried in their phones. So disrespectful. Last night was one of the worst experience with the staff. Several times throughout the night you would see groups of the staff together playing on the phones giggling and laughing tohtoget. I sat for about 20 minutes with dirty plates on my table while they played on their phones. I keep coming back for the food but I dont know for how long .
We come there at least once a month over the last 2 years and always have had exceptional service. Believe the cook was drunk. Handed me the split bowls for yum yum and ginger and said here hold on to these. Thought he was kidding but nope he forgot and just sat both bottles on table and said there ya go. My wife ordered double noodles only got a single order and still paid for double. He said “no she didn’t” then looked at ticket and said “oh yeah she did”. No apologies nothing. Looks like A1 will be our choice from here on out!! Drinks and food for family of 5 over 21 we’ll you know isn’t cheap
My absolute favorite restaurant anywhere! Been here at least a couple dozen times and have never had a bad experience. Food is always top notch, huge proportions, extremely tasty, the service is excellent, the chef is always great and the experience in itself is a blast! It is a very busy place because of how great the food is so you may wait to be seated briefly but its always well worth it! Best place all around! I highly recommend!
They have a dud chef that you run the risk of getting. We sat there and watched the other chef at a different table entertain while ours was basically mute. Also seemed like drama between the hostess and back of the house. It just doesnt feel like it is a well run operation.
Food is amazing. A great Japanese restaurant to go to if youre looking for a great atmosphere. Always expect a wait, which doesnt last too crazy long. The food is very good, the chefs are funny and entertaining. My only setback was the price, which is more than A1. Example, youll pay extra for fried rice where its included at A1. The portions are much bigger at A1 than here. At the end of the day, the food is great with not big portions, but youre paying for the atmosphere.
I go here every year for my work Christmas party. And Ive been here just for sushi with a friend. Its usually very good and entertaining. Ive had 1 bad experience. The waiter ghosted us several times. Including taking 30 minutes to get 3 of us refills on drinks and 20 minutes to get our checks. Other waiters came to our table on several occasions apologizing. Keep in mind that the other half of the table was our party also, and their waiter was never MIA. Our chef may have been new. He barely said a word. Did one egg trick in silence. It was fun to watch, but a bit awkward as the chef on the other side was loud and very entertaining. But the food was great. The other 4 people who werent with our party shared in our discontent. Also, for the second year in a row, my sushi order showed up while we were ready to leave. I was told this time that it was because they put steak on the Texas roll, so it may take extra time. Then when I finally got it, the steak was raw. Which was fine (and delicious) but... Why did I have to wait extra for raw steak? Its great food, but there are better options in the area. Also, if you go with a large work party and your bosses are paying for the meal, and you have to pay for your own beer, just walk to the bar to avoid paying automatic 30% gratuity to a waiter who brings your last incorrect drink order long after the meal is boxed.
The food is mediocre and the prices are awful. I was charged a $6 sharing charge for my 2yr old to take 2 bites of my noodles. The staff was super friendly but definately not worth the price. The place was alittle dirty as well, we went to the hibachi side as soon as they opened and there was grease and old rice stuck to the out edges of the grill.
First time Ive eaten here. Great friendly waiter and chef. Food was incredible. Everything was prepared perfectly from sushi to hibachi - good seasoning, lots of flavor. Portions were a little overboard - especially the hibachi rice and noodles. No complaints though, I just took the extra food to go.
My first time here. I loved the experience. Always wanted to experience it since Ive seen it on movies. I would go back again to experience it over again. The chefs cooked my food just right. I didnt have to add any salt to my food at all like I usually do at restaurants. I would recommend this place to people to experience at least once. Thank you for a good experience n great meal.
We went with my family to celebrate my nephews 13th birthday with 4 other children all under 8 unfortunately this was the worst experience we had not worth the $400 we got charged. The chef was drunk and burned our food , there were egg shells on the rice and all the food was waisted . . I know everyone has a bad day and I have to blame it all on the managers because first if they see this happening at a table where there are 5 children they should have switched chefs or something... our waiter was great he was very understanding and gave all the kids icecream..
If you want a nice place to eat with entertainment this is pretty cool. The food is really good and the chefs put on a great show. If youre going for dinner on the weekend definitely get reservations. It is not cheap and gratuity is added to large groups. Full bar. Sushi bar. Parking can be challenging. It is located in a very busy place but there is plenty to do close by.
Would rate a 0 if I could the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant!!!! Was told 45 minutes to wait an hour and a half later after greeters kept lying to us and putting their friends by we spoke to manager 1 who tried to blow us of off, and was beyond rude! We asked for another manager,we spoke to manager 2 who seated us 15 minutes later, 1/2 hour more to get drinks and service, 20 minutes later for cook, finally got our average bland food, we finally ate, then waited another 40 minutes to get bills and pay bill, gratuity was added on even though we were all billed as 3 separate couples, I would have left nothing! as I dont think that we should have been charged for anything, as it took almost 5 hours to eat in their restaurant. Arived near 6 and we left at near closing time.
One of my favorite places to dine, or used to be. I love the food, lunch or dinner. Traditional, hibachi, sushi and takeout. The problem I have with this location and why I have rated it low is CLEANLINESS. For the money I’m spending, I expect spotless plates/silverware, an entrance that doesn’t smell like a polluted lake, and it to be thoroughly dusted, swept and wiped free of grime. This has deterred my frequency of going as well as others I know. Once in a while I give in to a craving but usually only takeout now because I cant stand how dirty it is. I need to stop that because now I’m thinking about how dirty the kitchen might be if they let the customer area get this bad. Even when it’s early and nobody is there, the waitstaff stand around on their phones when they could be helping to tidy up. This definitely needs addressed promptly, I feel as if it is worse every time I step in the place. It’s sad. I will have to try A1 Steakhouse out instead next time.
Great food but dont expect to be seated anywhere near on time, even with a reservation. We waited 45 minutes past our reservation tonight and finally gave up. Beware if youre bringing kids. They had no beepers left, so we were left to stand around in the horribly overcrowded lobby with my kids sitting on the cold floor. Pretty disappointing way to start what could have been a nice restaurant visit. We have been here many times, but will sadly never return. Incompetent reception staff made it that much worse.
This place used to be awesome.... unfortunately it is more like a restaurant that took a close down for a few months and no one wiped the dust and grime off when they reopened. Gum under all the hibachi counters, threadbare seating in hibachi area. Portion sizes for food that is, or on the edge of spoiling is small (thank god) saw wait staff wipe down chairs, counters and THEN wipe plates with the same dirty rag. Host staff was rude and quick to push customers aside. It was the done deal for me. After waiting 25 minutes and no drink order, we waved a waiter over, he said he couldnt serve us until our table was filled! We were a party of two and arrived at opening. Wont be back, A1 Japan in Canton 5* and Hibachi Japan *, Toko Japanese steak house in streetsboro, all excellent close alternatives to this place. Save your money and your health. Im letting this one go..
We were seated right away, but I didnt care for the location. We had a wheel chair petson so for her it was a good spot. The food was delicious. Our server was exellent. We will definitely go back. Hopefully we can sit on the other side where we can watch a chef cook our meal.
The food quality has gone down since I first went here a few years ago but its still good!05/01/2019 we tried to call 5 times at 900 (Google says it closes at ten) to see if we could put in a to-go order.. And four of the five times we got hung up on . The last time the hostest said can you be here by 930 because we close at 930. And were just not going to have time and I want to be out of here. she came off rude and like she didnt want to take any more orders. I dont think its good customer service to hang up on people. I am going to stop coming to this place.. And thats a sad day.. 😔
Horrible experience, sushi was falling apart, drinks were horrible, chef was a mess, rushed through cooking and forgot an entire order of shrimp and the noodles, after bringing more shrimp out and cooking it it still wasn’t the correct amount. Chef was literally throwing the food onto the plates splattering it everywhere. Manager came out and offered to take drinks off the bill and make new ones plus get more shrimp. Bill came and the drinks were never taken off and the shrimp never came out. Asked about the shrimp and the chef came to the table and called us liars. Drinks were finally taken off the bill and the manager was called again to get the shrimp that was promised, finally got the shrimp and was able to leave. Bathrooms looked like they had never been cleaned and the tiramisu was frozen solid, couldn’t even get a fork through it. This used to be our go to spot for all special events but they have officially lost our business. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Nov 16th 930pm. My husband and I were very excited to try Wasabi for the first time, especially since we finally had a night off from the kids. We went at a time when there was no wait and were seated at one of the hibachi grills right away. That was all the service we had. we sat for over 25 minutes and not one person acknowledged us to even ask a drink order. Multiple employees stood at a nearby table chatting it up. We finally gave up and walked out. Waste of time. Wont try it again.
My husband and I just came here for dinner. This place is disgusting. Dirty dining room and tables. They dont change the table cloth even if its dirty, they just stick some white paper over it. The bathrooms are disgusting. Splatter, dust and grime. Toilet paper rolls busted and laying on the ground. Service sucks. We asked for sake and never got it, asked for silverware and our server hands us a fork out of the container where a server was rolling silverware! No napkin, no chopsticks , just a fork. Then our sushi sat on the counter for 20 minutes while the server disappeared to wherever he went. Then we had to wait a half hour to get checked out. Not a pleasant experience at all. We wont be back!
The only reason I am giving this place a star at all is to be able to rate the place. I called the restaurant to see what time they stopped seating and they informed it was 9:30pm. I pulled up at 9:29 and the hostess informed restaurant had already stopped seating. When. I asked to speak to the manager he said that the cooks had went home. While there was a chef in there cooking. Im very upset that I had drove from 45 mins away to eat here and was turned away with my family after mourning the loss of our grandfather today. Im also upset that Even though I beat the time the lady told me her and the manager did not honor it. Very poor customer service.
Usually I have no complaints when it comes to Wasabi. Its always a good time, fun & energetic staff and great food. Not what happened at all... Im not sure what was up with this last visit... it was horrible!!! I was so disappointed. I brought a few people whod never been there before. I talked wasabi up for 4 days!!!! What a let down.... Had it of been my 1st time id probably rethink coming back! They wasnt busy at all so Im not sure what was up with the crappy service. Not just one seemed they all was in a mood. Not much entertainment at all... the food was quickly thrown together and then on the plates... not in a good way not like ever before!!! It was a friend of the groups birthday. I told them when we called for reservations and after we got there... they did nothing for her even after the cook had asked about bdays while cooking....nothing! Bad experience... Only Good thing out of it was the desert my son got and didnt like!!!
Not a bad restaurant. However, nothing too special either.Coming from someone who has frequently returned to A1 Japan Steak-House to spoil themselves and their spouse, this particular Japanese themed restaurant simply can not compete. We decided to give it a try out of curiosity, and maybe add potential variety to our favorite places to go out to eat.To be fair, if we had come here with nothing else to compare to, perhaps it may have left a little bit better of an impression. But it simply isnt so. First impression upon being seated was how incredibly tiny our table and our personal space was. The table we sat at felt like a fold up chess table it was so small. It was near impossible to fit our meal - let alone drinks or silverware. It just overall felt tacky. When we went there, it was dead, we were one of the very few, if only customers that day. I cant recall any form of entertainment either - there was no note-able music, decor wasnt remarkable, and there wasnt even a basic television within our sight to pass the time. The only visual interest was the koi pond - which was unfortunately outside and virtually gone ineffective as it is mostly only view-able from the street when driving by...Food portions were unexpectedly small, and didnt really match their asking prices. The menu was vague and a little challenging to choose an item from. Its difficult to find an appetite for anything when descriptions are uninspired. The service was surprisingly lacking considering the fact we seemingly had the whole restaurant to ourselves. All in all, just not an experience or food value worth seeking again.I can confidently recommend any viewers to go to A1 Japan Steak-House instead. The prices are more fair, and portion sizes are unbelievably big. I guarantee youll be taking leftovers home. The aesthetic there is much more relaxing, intimate, and pleasing to experience too. Not to forget... you can actually sit naturally at their spacious tables! It felt as though we were missing out on something better. There was a nagging feeling that we should have stuck with the Japanese restaurant we already knew and loved - just a little ways further down the street.
Very good food. Great sushi lunch special! Only complaint is last time I picked up $40+ in sushi they forgot soy sauce, when I got home I called and it took me about 10x calls before someone answered. When they did answer, they only offered me $5 in credit. I will go back again, they were polite and the food is good, I just thought a larger credit would have been appropriate.
Oh my, first off this place is not cheap. If you want cheap there are plenty of good Chinese / Japanese places for you.The food here is an experience, a delight and also a feast for the eyes. We stop three or four times a year and eat as much sushi as we can & our wallets will afford. My favorite has to be the grilled squid, taste & presentation is off the charts.
My three friends and I had a reservation at a hibachi table Saturday night . Upon arriving , we noticed the chairs were in terrible condition . Half the vinyl was peeling away on many of them , exposing the foam beneath . Whatever . We can deal with that . I did order a hibachi meal, my friend ordered sushi - two maki rolls and uni sashimi. Our server was very nice and did her job well.* Chop chop chop *Our chef ( he just seemed like he was so over his job and didnt want to be there ) started preparing the other meals. He proceeded to give a bowl of rice to The other people at the table and work his way on down. He gave a bowl of rice to my friend. Then he scooped up some rice on the spatula and started directing it towards my plate of sushi ( which might My friend, had no available space on it) as My friend realize whats happening, he starts to ask my friend if She want some rice, She said no and as She was shaking her head no, he then proceeds to dump it all over her ginger, wasabi paste, and part of she premium maki sushi . She said no several more times, and he just proceeds on down the line giving rice to everybody else. She was not happy at all. I should have gone and spoken with the manager, but I didnt want to ruin the evening by causing a scene and complaining. All in all, the food was good , the service was poor, and the seating was a mess. In hindsight, I should have spoken with the manager. The experience was not worth all the money we paid.We were pretty disappointed in the experience overall , but the food was good .In case you needed details , we were a party of 4 who had 8:30 reservations . If you are standing at the hostess desk , We were seated at the far right grill , on the side nearest to the wall .Thank you,Heather
Hibachi is always yummy. Wasabi does it well. I ordered the steak and shrimp as always, and it was delicious! We did receive attitude because we didnt make a reservation for a party of 7 on a weeknight. You are a hibachi place, you know you will be getting large parties.

Overall I thought the experience was great and are chef was very entertaining i love the food always delicious i would of gave them five stars but they lose two stars for me because of the atmosphere i dont know why it was so freaking cold my food was amazing but I had to enjoy it in shivers by the end of my meal my toes were numb i would of made a special trip to the north pole if i wanted to be freezing its 50 degrees outside and only 60 inside from what the thermostat said which I think is a little ridiculous next time I would enjoy a bit more heat
If I could leave no stars I would. My husband and I come to Wasabis all the time. We usually love it here. But tonight was pathetic and I will never come back. Our “chef” burned my fish and I got less then half of the portions I usually get when we come for dinner. Nothing was devided fairly. I got less then half a scoop of rice and veggies when usually my plate is full. Bad bad bad night. I will make sure I tell everyone I know to never come here again. Definitely not worth the prices tonight.
The food is great, the chef is great, what is not great is when they sit you with lame boring people who ruin your dinner. Or the fact that they sit you so close to strangers you touch eachother. I know you want to make money, but give your customers some damn room. That is all. Thank you!
Came in on a Monday evening when it was slow, was sat at a table with 2 other people total. I ordered scallops and shrimp while my girlfriend ordered chicken as well as the other two people at the table. While scallops and shrimp are a significant difference than just chicken the people who ordered just chicken got 3 pieces of shrimp with their order while i only received 4. When someone orders scallops and chicken you would think that there would be more than just 4 pieces of shrimp when the other people at the table who didnt order any shrimp received 3 free pieces of shrimp, all in all this was a disappointment and made me feel as though i did not receive my moneys worth
This was the first time eating here and was not impressed at all. The taste of the food was good but the service sucked a b hole. I was a little perturbed by the fact that you are charged extra for brown rice which was a surprise to me when I got my bill. The waiter was terrible and forgot everything that my girlfriend asked for as well as I. I would rate this eating experience in the negative if I could
After reading reviews, I thought it would be a good place to go to. I was very disappointed and Im not hard to please. There were fruit flies all over the place, the floors and tables were sticky, the waitress was kind but the manager wouldnt come out to talk to us, and the food was not worth the price. If you want outstanding hibachi, go down to A1 Steakhouse instead.

2022-07-05My second visit here. What was good:Our chef and waiter were very good. The food was prepared as ordered and was absolutely delicious. The dinner show was entertaining and we enjoyed it thoroughly. What was not-so-good:We were a party of two and were added to a table that already had nine ... it was MORE than cramped and made the entire experience less than wonderful. Meanwhile, across the dining room, a chef cooked for a table of five. Hmmmmm. For some unknown reason, the chef served everyone at the table double yum-yum sauce and no ginger sauce although it was clearly on his cart. A few of us requested it and finally received it... just kinda weird to start off without it.

2022-01-29Our server was amazing! Our drinks, appetizers and food came out very quickly! Caramel Apple tini was perfect. Loved the tuna tartare. Was the best hibachi around. The dining area was too cold though, for my husband and I.

2021-11-13An amazing place to spend an evening. Our server Brent was wonderful and we never had an empty glass. The food was delicious, worth every penny, and our chef Justin was so friendly and funny and seemed like he was having fun cooking for us. I’m very grateful to both of them for making my daughter’s birthday special!!!!!

2022-05-30We reserved a time for Mothers Day. If you wanna come here you should reserve a time any day only the weekends. Food was fantastic! The Hibachi Chef was really good! Very funny! I’d recommend Wasabi to anyone who loves Hibachi. Of course you’ll spend lots of money, but worth it!

2022-05-01The entryway is completely impossible for a person with a wheelchair to navigate, they have a long, steep ramp with a threshold that will not allow the front tires to clear. Luckily one of the patrons leaving helped back us up the ramp.Mass confusion at the desk, the hostess seemed new and overwhelmed. lots of folks with no reservation, nobody at the desk willing to deal with anyone. One of the hostesses was outside as we approached the door and on seeing us with the wheelchair snuck in and avoided holding the door open, nice.I won’t be too hard on the server; it appears as though she has at least nine tables.LOUD, there seems to be lots of birthday parties, which is fine but very very loudOyster appetizer with miso infused mayonnaise is excellent and the sautéed squid was wonderful as well. Very cold and crispy salad, wonderful dressing. Edamame was okay but needed more salt. The atmosphere was spoiled by a very loud Russian person who eventually had to be asked to leave. The manager should have intervened much earlier than she did.We both had the Chirashi, it was not authentic in the least. No boiled shrimp, no fish roe, no pickles, no seaweed, no squid or octopus, it was 12 pieces of mediocre fish on a bed of rice with a small piece of tomago. It could have used less rice and way more variety of seafood. Adding insult to injury, one of the bowls had a large chip, chips like this are a breeding ground for bacteria and likely a health code violation. All in all, an interesting night but scratched off of our list of return destinations.

2021-12-18Wonderful food and great service. All their chefs are entertaining, and highly skilled, and they give you enough food to feed a small army

2022-06-19My meal was pretty good. Just not great. Our waiter was excellent. The chef was very good. Quite entertaining. The only reason I gave it four stars is because I’ve eaten at Wasabi before and the food was exceptional. This time it seemed a little less delicious. As usual, the portions were quite large. Which I do appreciate, since they do come and box up the leftovers for you. It’s perfect for next day lunch. My Elementary school age kids really enjoyed it as well. The food and the ambience. I will absolutely go back again soon! I highly recommend Wasabi.

2022-01-29Came in with family to celebrate a birthday and had a great time. Delicious food, amazing show by the chef, and huge portions. Only downside is that the prices are noticeably higher than other hibachi restaurants in the area, and on my way home I realized that I was overcharged on my bill (got charged $73, total for mine should have been about $55). My fault for being in a rush and not checking the bill closely, but still.

2022-05-23Its fun for big groups or small! The hibachi chefs are fun and make most of the menu right there in front of you, and will squirt sake all over you! 😆 The food is delicious! While its a lil expensive, I think we left with 3lbs of leftovers. Such a fun place and worth checking out with family and friends.

2021-07-20Our cook was Awesome!!! I believe his name was Martin, he provided great entertainment and delicious food! It would have been 5 stars but the other cook on the other side that served our other party was a drag and a little rude. If you go there ask for Handsome aka Martin lol
