My wife and I couldn’t wait to check out this new Italian joint right down the street from where we lived. We had stopped by a few weeks back but they were renovating the place.Today is our lucky day... LaDessa was the friendliest server EVER!We decided to each grab a salad and split the pepperoni pizza this evening! HOLY SCHNIKES... that pizza was unbelievable! We will definitely be back! Thanks for the great experience!
Got takeout: Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and Spaghetti Bolognese. Both were very good and large portions. The Bolognese sauce tasted like it had a little cinnamon in it. A little curious at first but it was actually good. I had to Google to see if that is common and apparently it is. Good food.
My fiancé and I recently went there for the first time and had the chicken parm and trio pasta. It literally knocked our socks off. This was some of the best Italian food you can get. It makes Olive Garden look like a microwave dinner. Would be willing to drive 2+ hours to get this food again. The sauce is to die for.
The. Best . Food . in Dayton , I’m half Italian, I’m from Rhode Island exactly , and I know Italian food. I have been searching for good Italian food and I feel like I found it in this place , my bestie is from New York , and she agrees , and is also extremely happy to have found this and so close to home. If you have not been to this restaurant , you are missing out. You have not had authentic Italian food if you have not ate anything here. Bravo ! To many years of success ! Ciao
I was disappointed by my visit here. The service was rather slow. The staff were very nice though. The food itself wasnt great in my opinion. When I think of puttanesca I think of tomato chunks, black olives & capers maybe anchovy or hot peppers. Never pepperoni. It was just a bit of a let down. My pasta was fully cooked, which in my book is over cooked.
Everything I tried here was delicious: the meatball NY Roll (pictured), fettuccini alfredo, pizza, calzone, all top notch. Would definitely come back. Good prices and plenty of seating. Great family style Italian food and Im glad we dont have to drive to Jimmys or Tronis anymore.
I grabbed a cheese calzone for lunch via carryout and it was incredibly delicious. I can honestly say I would give the food alone more than five stars if I could. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. All around a great experience, and I think I found my go-to Italian place from here on out. Do yourself a favor and give Venecia a try!
The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. The atmosphere is a bit odd (flashing multicolored lights in one section, bright white lights in another, etc.), but I understand its a newish place and they will probably work through all that in time. Nobody ordered pizza from our group, but we saw a ton of people come in, grab pizzas, and go. This will probably be my focus next time to see what all the hype is about, but it didnt seem like you could go wrong with anything on the menu. This place has it where it matters and can easily fix its shortcomings. If you havent tried it yet, take the risk. You will not regret it.Owner: One thing that probably needs to change sooner than later- you gotta get a payment system. The old fashioned ticket that a server does math on can really only be used in small diners. With means ranging from 15-30 dollars, bills will get complicated and a computer will be more efficient and accurate. It also allows customers to check (or understand) the prices.
Ate lunch here today. Pizza and salad with house dressing excellent. Also carried out the veal parmigiana-also excellent and a HUGE serving. Garlic knots good too. Took off a star for the Italian combo sub one of our group got-flavor good but too many veggies and only 1 piece each of meat and cheese. Would rather pay a bit more for a heartier sub. Heartily recommend any of the pastas.
My husband and I just had lunch for the first time here at Venecia. It was hard to choose as everything was appealing on the menu. It was somewhat disappointing that they didn’t offer a lunch menu. My husband was really wanting to try the sausage, pepper, and onion sub. I thought that it is a norm for a Sunday to only serve dinner, but was surprising for a Saturday. Nonetheless, my husband had a sausage, pepper, and onion calzone instead, and I had the stuffed baked shells. My dinner came with garlic knots and a salad. The salad was pretty standard, but the rest of this Italian fare was top notch! Will definitely return, and recommend.
We were very excited to try some authentic Italian and echo the 5star reviews that brought us in. The pasta was yummy and flavors very fresh. The service was attentive and kid-friendly (which I really appreciate!) Our kids had asked to go to Olive Garden, and after we chose Venecia instead, my husband said, “See! This is why we say ‘no’ to Olive Garden!” LOL! We will be back!
I had lunch here for the first time with my aunt. Shes very picky, 90% of the time she is disappointed with her food. Today, she truly enjoyed her Italian sub. She commented on the fresh bread and delicious house dressing. I had the pasta trio and it was fantastic! The atmosphere isnt fancy, but very good fresh food. I highly recommend trying this place!!!
We just ordered carry-out for the first time, and it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! We tried the Trio Pasta and Fettuccine Alfredo, and both meals came with side salads and garlic rolls. The pastas were high-quality, authentic entrees, the salad dressing was amazing, and the garlic rolls were to die for. Im not going to lie--I even dipped the garlic rolls in my leftover dressing. The fresh herbs used in the dishes really made the food shine. The prices were more reasonable than other Italian restaurants in the area, and the staff was super friendly. We are fortunate to have this treasure in our community, and we cant wait to go back!
We ate here for lunch and had the garlic rolls, pasta trio, and a calzone. And holy moly, their food is delicious! This is now our go-to restaurant for Italian. The entrees were delicious and the garlic rolls are to die for. Their marinara sauce is the best I’ve ever had. You’ll be missing out if you don’t eat here.
Very impressed by this wonderful hidden gem in a semi-sketch area of Kettering. Was Very apprehensive to try the place at first glance because the exterior looks like An eighth-grader who didnt understand the assignment put it together. However if you put lipstick on a pig, you still get bacon which is always good so I thought Id check it out. Atmosphere is cozy and the food is authentic working class Italian
This is better than any Italian food I’ve eaten. The homemade Italian dressing is amazing as is the meat sauce. We discovered this restaurant a week ago and are back for the second time in a week. It’s authentic Italian as they advertise and is certainly freshly made. If you don’t try it, you’re missing a wonderful Italian dining experience. The people are very courteous. We drive 25 miles to eat here.
Service, wasn’t great. We had to ask for a menu, a straw, a refill on cola. Shrimp scampi was too much sauce, and way too much lemon in the sauce. But the shrimp was plentiful and not overcooked. Thankfully.Garlic rolls would’ve been good if they had been warm....they had coagulated in their oil.Pizza was greasy. No liquor license.Atmosphere-very dingy. Needs updating.
The food was great all the times that we went there. I loved the sauce and pasta and the pasta and meatballs. However, my wife and I had a bad experience there. The waitress told us that the young male server did not want to serve us because our tip was not 20%. Who does that. My wife and I are in a fixed income and in our 70s. This behavior is unacceptable.
Was going to order from Mama Disalvos for our 1st anniversary carryout dinner. They had just closed and we were in the mood for Italian. A quick internet search found us this new gem. Food was fast, super hot, fresh and delicious. I got the chicken parm. VERY GOOD. The house Italian dressing may just be an all time new favorite now. Tried both the sausage and meatball. Both were good but the sausage definitely had more flavor. Sauce is good and the garlic rolls are great. We will definitely be back.
Excellent curbside experiences and food!So far we have tried:The meatball sub: generous serving of delicious meatballs topped with sauce and cheese served on a flaky delicious bun. Fantastic flavor. Everything we want out of a meatball sub and more!! 5/5The Italian sausage with peppers and onions sub: gluttonous and delicious!! Awesome mix of flavors!! My personal favorite so far!! 5/5Chicken Parmigiano: excellent!! Delicious chicken, awesome and generous amount of marinara sauce and pasta!! 5/5NY style pizza: so far we have kept it basic. Cheese pizza; pepperoni pizza, and sausage pizza. All 5/5We will be back, and frequently!!
I just had lunch here with my wife, sister and her husband. The place looks like nothing on the outside and is unpretentious on the inside. The food though is outstanding and very authentically Italian. We had garlic rolls appetizer and I had a pepperoni roll. They were great. Good portions. I believe the owner is from Italy.
Leaving this review mostly for the gluten free folks. All the pasta/calzones our group got looked delicious, but cant really speak for them. As far as gluten free options go, there really arent any. I was able to get a grilled chicken salad, however you need to request it NO flour on the chicken, even though it isnt fried, it still had some flour on it, for texture I assume. They did remake me one with no flour. Service was friendly!
We stopped there at 9pm for dinner. My husband is Italian and the cook in our house and is very picky. We both thought the food was absolutely delicious! Fresh, hot, and cooked perfectly! Everything was so good, we had the calzone, pizza, fried zucchini and breadsticks! Complements to the chef and the very friendly waitress! We will definitely travel to dine there again! Make sure to stop in and try the delicious food! You definitely will love it!
We have visited twice now (within a week) and we love it. We stopped by for lunch the first time and were so impressed that we had to come back and try the dinner menu. Everything was delicious! The service was great! Super friendly staff and they made sure we had everything we needed. We grabbed a carry out menu since we live fairly close. Highly recommend!
We had our first lunch today at Venecia...the first of many to come after our experience! We ordered the baked ziti and the lasagna. Both were excellent! This is a cozy, family run restaurant, with outstanding service. Please try this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed! Support locally owned, small business!
My wife and I got there early about 5 o’clock when evening it was Friday night and not busy at all. Although they don’t serve alcohol we were pleasantly surprised with the great service, the cleanliness and the great food they really go out of their way to make this food by hand and serve huge portions. The bread was phenomenal everything was phenomenal. If you want wine maybe you can call and see if you can bring your own but this place is the real deal.
Magnifico authentic Italian food made from scratch!! So nice to finally have an excellent dining experience starting with a super fresh salad and mozzarella cheese sticks freshly made with marinara sauce on the side! I enjoyed the Chicken Parmesan and it was absolutely amazing and delicious! The garlic knots made the meal quite yummy!Thank you for opening up a true Italian fare in my neighborhood! I will be back and I will share my experience with everyone!EParr
Food was a 3 out of 5- GF did not like the amount of Lemon and garlic on the Scampi, pretty nasty. Left a nutty flavor, caught me off guard because I have an allergy to legumes.- Bread rolls were soggy, garlic butter tasted, weird.- Shrimp was well cooked!- Appetizers were amazing- Asparagus was good- Lasenga was goodService - Messed up the money. Were shortchanged when paying the bill with cash (so we could give a bigger tip to the server) Intention was to give a specific amount for the tip. But thats OK, Im in IT and shes a Case worker, its the principle we were concerned about. Both of us have worked in the food service industry and have never lacked integrity like this man.I enjoy going to smaller establishments and my GF is new to the area so we thought we would try something in our neighborhood. Well just check this on off the list and leave it there.
Ordered for carry out. Food was ready in about 15 min. Got it home and it was still super hot. The lasagna rivals mybown and mine is the best Ive had (mothers recipe). Def thee best restaurant lasagna. Made with sausage and lots of of it. The calzone was rated PRETTY GOOD by family member. Other family mentioned the lasagna was awesome. Hot, fast, the order was correct except they forgot one item in box but we checked before leaving parking lot and were able to complete our order. Great pricing. The place was full of people and service was still quick. Definately a new fav place for this household. Spent less than $40 whereas going OUT usually costs a lot more.
We ordered a calzone, sausage and pepperoni rolls, a pizza, tiramisu, and baklava. Everything was SO delicious. You can tell their ingredients are fresh, and well prepared. They were busy when we ordered, but had it ready on time, and made sure we had everything. We’re so excited to have an authentic Italian restaurant near us. We’ll be back very soon.
If a mom and pop, Fazolies, and Olive Garden were smashed into a single brand, it would look like this. Give it a few years for the foundation to be set, and this will become a great place for an Italian dinner. My wifes family is full Italian, and they like this place, something Olive Garden cant say.
Slow service food was kind of bland and someone at my table got fettuccine alfredo I didnt think the shrimp should have the tails on them still which meant you pick them up with your fingers and pull the tails off really for a new place thats open they better do better than that I wont be back no alcohol either

2022-04-09Went there last night. A hole in the wall type joint. Food was tremendous. Tomato sauce wasn’t too thick or watery, but exactly the right blend. The garlic rolls that accompanied it was great. Wine was good. Service was good. It’s real Italian food.

2022-07-20Calamari was good - it did fall apart a little so it was hard to dip. Dinner was good (NY Style rolls, and chicken cutlet). The rolls had too much cheese for me but it was really good! I just pulled out a bunch of cheese. The chicken and noodles were good, my husband got that. Salad was simple but good. Both our waitress and the other waiter were very nice!

2022-04-28We ordered pizzas, a pepperoni roll, and fried zucchini. It was all delicious! We love the sauce! My kids actually ate the zucchini! My office is walking distance from Venecia so Im excited to see they have a lunch menu and will definitely be eating here more often. 😋

2022-05-30We ordered the trio meals for both of us and they were quite good. In a time when most are going away from cash they charge 6% more for using credit cards. I appreciate the sign advising us and I had cash. But why not just adjust your price? It does come across negative to an otherwise wonderful place to eat

2022-07-11Great family owned joint with excellent family recipes. Like many places they have a hard time getting good help, so service might be slow. However it is well worth the wait. Their lasagna is wonderful as are their calzones.

2022-05-04Food was good, service was slow. We had 10 people. Old people with no patience. However I had made reservations a week in advance. Only had one waitress for the whole restaurant. My son had a stroke and I asked for a sandwich to go. She said we cant do sandwiches after 3 pm, thats when lunch hour ends. Will I ever go back. Maybe if its a smaller group. I live about a half mile from the restaurant.
