Just recently discovered this hidden gem . A Great place , run by professionals that know their firearms and how to treat people right . I have already been there twice this week ( 45 minutes away but worth the drive ) for hard to find ammo and a nice model 629-2 . Thanks again guys !
Was looking for a particular shotgun, called OEO first, they didnt have one in stock but could order it. I called Vandalia Tactical, they had them in stock, and the were $70-$80 cheaper than the quote I received from OEO. I asked them about trades, they said they would look it over, and quote me a price. Very friendly staff, very knowledgeable, answered all my questions. Ended up trading in a pistol for the shotgun I wanted, and they even installed the accessories I wanted with the shotgun at no extra charge. Great people, wouldnt hesitate to buy more firearms here.
The sales staff arent always the most outgoing and there always seems to be at lest one regular customer in there shootin the breeze like it is a coffee shop. So sometimes you have to get their attention but once they know you want help or are interested in something they are very helpful and will take their time with you. I have never seen them be rude to any customers unlike a gun store north of them. Their prices are pretty much on par with the rest of the stores in the area.
This place sucks. I walked in and asked for a specific pistol which I 100% intended on buying and figured they would be decently happy with a $700 sale. Instead they told me they didnt have one nor would they ever get one because they suck.I went to VRA instead and they got the sale. I will never come here again.
Went there once when I was first looking for a rifle. The staff was very rude because, I wasnt ready to buy. I explained to the worker, that I was just in the beginning stages, and had to save up some more money. The guy wouldnt get the gun down for me to look at, but after persuading him for about 15 minutes, he finally let me see it, but then very quickly asked for it back. I will not go there again. They do however, have a nice selection of accessories.
I dont know why there are so many negative comments on this place, the selection was great, the place was tidy and well organized, and contrary to whatever anyone else says they experienced, these guys were all friendly and helpful. I read that theyre good old boys and you have to be a local to be treated nicely there, that is simply not the case, Im not from here, dont live here (just visiting relatives for thanksgiving), and have never met those gentlemen before, I asked a question and they politely answered, they showed me the rifle I was looking for, and never once hesitated to let me handle it, the price was right also. After entering and saying hello, I said I was just browsing, they still didnt give me any resistance to let me handle whatever I asked about. Normally when youre not a state resident youre told you cant purchase, but in Ohio active duty military are apparently afforded the courtesy of still buying long rifles (and no, Im not stationed here on orders), these guys jumped through hoops to get the information in the system, and I actually got approved quicker than normal. I think the negative comments come from people who came in and didnt show common respect, I see no other reason, because these guys were great, and I will likely buy from them again whenever Im up here again.
Unlike other places that actually employ professionals, these guys are just a bunch of old retired fogeys that know little about what theyre supposed to be selling. Also, their customer service skills are lacking. On top of that, they have ONE person whos allowed to open and log shipments! So if you buy a gun online and have it shipped there, better hope hes not out of town!
I’ve been given wrong bullets while buying a new gun. And I’ve been sent home with the wrong bullets and a coupe mounts on another occasion. Took a lot of my time, gas, $. Was offered nothing in return for it either time. Second time he actually tried to offer me 3 packs of ammo for the wrong one he gave me... I was like sir, what ur giving me for an exchange is 8$ cheaper then I paid for what you Gave me wrong... beside with who I believe is the owner which was a ton of help, Ive got little help. By little I mean they do as little as possible. Vague, tell me only what I ask instead of informing me: I tell them in new to guns and know nothing besides online reading.. besides that I like they place.
The staff is absolutely deplorable. Like one reviewer said before, if youre not a cop, they could care less. My favorite part of the visit was when my wife asked to see a firearm and was denied because I wasnt with her, little did they know I was at the next case over. But the absolute best thing is when you prove them wrong and they get super pissed. I hope the place burns. I will never spend another penny at that establishment.
Vandalia Tactical is a great gun shop. Very friendly staff, helpful for all your questions--and they dont talk down to newbies (I was once). They listen to you and then make suggestions...and offer their advice without being forceful. If you are a first time buyer, or just never been in the shop before, you should check them out. Competitive prices and large stock on hand too.
I have been stopping in here for about 6 years. I dont do it to buy but just for a good laugh. They have always been one of the most over priced gun shops in the Dayton area. One time they had a Galil clone at a half decent price, used. I wanted to give it a good look over before buying it and one of the old guys behind the counter made a snide comment about having to touch things in the shop. Well of course Im going to give a really good look over of a USED firearm. Trust me your money spends better else where.
I called ahead looking for a specific model Glock. They said they had it in stock. I told them I had a 40 minute drive one way to get there and double checked their hours. They said no problem, come on down. I load the family in the truck and head down. I walk in and mention the call, they pull the firearm in question out for me to look at. I agree to purchase the gun and the guy behind the counter tells me ill have to come back the next day. He told me the NICS system had been down all day and that they could not complete the transaction. They knowingly let me drive 40 minutes one way for a transaction that they could not complete. To be fair, this was in 2015 and I had left a review then. A while back an employee or owner of the store replied to my review with foul language. Then my review was gone. Not sure if they talked Google into removing the bad review, or if it was removed due to the language in their reply. Either way, here it is again. If you dont want bad reviews, be more respectful with your customers.
My mom was in town and we went here to buy ammo. The guy behind the counter, on seeing a 5 ft woman come walking in a fur coat and heels, rolled his eyes and asked sarcastically Can I -help- you? Aa if we were lost. He then, as if we were a great burden on him, got the ammo we asked for. Unfortunately for him she was a retired 28 year Dayton officer. What an ass! Since then the handful of times Ive been there the prices havent been good and the service has either been cold or completely unattentive unless they were talking to a range buddy of theirs. Not going again. Plenty of competition with better prices, service, AND selection.
While their selection is not limited by any stretch of the imagination their service and the mood in the shop is not doing this business any favors. After making a few purchases at the shop including a ruger handgun I returned a few more times just to skim their inventory. Truth be told I had been shopping for a new everyday carry and one afternoon I had $700 in my pocket ready to make a purchase. Then I noticed how high they were on a lot of their firearms as I browsed without even being acknowledged for 30 minutes. I mean, $400 for a hi-point 9 Carbine? LOL. Old english has both the .45 and 9mm for under $300 new less than 2 miles from this location. I wasnt looking to buy the hi-point Im merely using it as an example. I ended up purchasing my firearm from Old English. I recommend anyone in the Vandalia Tipp City Huber area go there instead.
Ive been here many times they tend to be a bit more expensive then some of the other shops in the area. I have had both good and bad experiences at the shop. It just depends on which employee you run into. The gentleman that was most helpful was extremely informed and knowledgeable.
The staff is all retired cops and they can be real rude and very condescending, espically if they are busy. It wasnt always this bad but once they got bigger they went down hill. If your trying to sell a gun dont go there, I made a extra two hundred dollars by going up the street.
Stopped by and stood around. Folks just chatting. got no service. I thought if I wanted a lack of Service, I could just go down the road to Tipp City. Went to Copes Distributing in Greenville instead. Best gun shopI have ever been to. The have a SMALL selection in the store but can get anything pretty quickly.
Pros1. They have guns2. Their guns are, in fact, for saleCons1. Shoes and shirt and still no service2. Prices that will put them out of business3. 0 tolerance for the average customer4. Cliquey, high school mentality among the “good ‘ol boys” working there5. General disrespect for female customers shopping solo6. 🤷🏼♂️

2022-05-26Don’t listen to these bad reviews. I come here practically every week with a buddy of mine and have never had a bad experience. I have purchased from here multiple times with zero problems. Rick (Marine Veteran) is a very respectable man, you come in and he will talk your ear off (in a good way). Have never had a problem with any of these guys. Id definitely recommend stopping in and taking a look around, good selection of firearms, good ammo supply, and no price gouging like most places around the dayton area.

2022-04-09They charged me $50 to use their Silencer Shop kiosk for prints, even though Silencer Shops website says the fee for using the kiosk at a shop that is not transferring a silencer for you will not exceed $40. I also overheard a worker tell someone if they dont get an NFA trust their silencer will be destroyed when they die. This is false, it can be transferred tax free on a form 5 to a lawful heir.

2022-06-03Not sure why people are saying the staff are rude, they were all cool with me. Prices arent too bad either, at least for their pistols.

2022-06-27Lots of guns in the cases, but employees didnt seem interested in selling any of them. No greeting. No eye contact. Walked into what looked like the break room when I started walking towards one. Probably wont stop again.

2022-02-06Everytime I shop here theyre more interested in flirting with my girlfriend, I honestly dont know why I go back !!! I asked if they had any FN hand guns they replied rather quickly that they did not . Upon me browsing the store less than 10 minutes I found the display case that had 6 FN pistols.....all I got from them upon asking to see the FN-X45 was oh well as the GRUMPY old stayed on his stool and argued with the other old GRUM if he would help me out or not ! I walked out and went down the road and spent my money at Vandalia Armory !

2021-07-08Literally the worst customer service I think I’ve ever had. The guy was rude and extremely bothered that he had to stop leaning on the counter and help a customer. The old guy (I’m assuming the owner) was just as rude and pretentious. Wouldn’t spend a dime with these guys and you shouldn’t either. Prices are marked up 40-50% past market price anyway. Not sure how they keep the lights on treating people like that.

2020-10-27These guys have been super friendly and helpful. The two old fellas behind the counter are always nice. I had purchased a pistol for my wife and she did not like it, I asked if they would let me exchange with a store credit. I was expecting to take a hit or just be told no, but these guys gave me full price! In return I purchased a more expensive pistol and will return here for all my fire arms needs. Once again thank you very much Vandalia tactical!!

2020-01-02Very friendly staff, no pressure sales. Allowed me to browse and answered any questions I had. I finally inquired about a specific firearm which they didnt have in stock. The manager was happy to order it for me. No problem being a repeat customer.
