Wonderful restaurant. Great service &excellent food. Did take a while to get our order but the quality seemed excellent... I tried Manhattan like no other & Blackberry special and was surprised at both. excellent drinks. Was able to get a nice table without reservations.
This is such a nice restaurant I really enjoyed myself there. The food and service are great. I am not a lover of ricotta cheese by any means particularly the stuff in the supermarkets. I dont know what Vaccaros does with their ricotta cheese in the stuffed shells but it is wonderful! I couldnt believe how good it was. The atmosphere is wonderful, the table settings are beautiful, and the restaurant is very clean. I plan on returning many more times. Thank you to the owner and staff for making this such a great place and dining experience.
I was part of a group of 12 that attended an evening business function. Everything surpassed my expectations. They seated us at one end of the restaurant and when we arrived the wine was ready. Appetizers have been pre-ordered and they were excellent. We had a cheese plate, antipasto kabobs and also vegetarian kabobs and a flat bread. My favorite was the cheese plate but both kebabs were also quite good. For dinner I had the chicken parmesan over a three cheese ravioli and it was perfect. I also sampled the salmon which was perfectly cooked and presented. The steak received rave reviews as well. We wanted for nothing in terms of service. This was the best restaurant experience Ive had in Ohio since the pandemic. I highly recommend and I will be back to try more things on the menu!
First time and won’t be the last. Quite honestly, I don’t understand any of the more negative reviews. This is an exceptional place. We left wondering why it took us so long to visit. We came with friends from Brazil (they know their cuisine); we were blown away. I highly recommend the lasagna bolognese and the cannoli
I have passed Vaccaros Trattoria many times and never thought to give them a try. I am glad I finally did, as they have a wonderful restaurant. I suggest a reservation for the weekend (and maybe the weekday) as they book up quickly. We reserved a table on Thursday and by Friday, most of the time slots on OpenTable had been taken. We were a little early, 20 min, but figured we could have a drink in the bar before our table was available. However, when we entered, the hostess let us know our table was almost ready and just needed to be set. Both ladies at the hostess stand were very nice and welcoming, a great start to the night. We were sat quickly at a very nice quiet table in the corner. Soon after being seated, we were greeted by our server, Andrew??, and had water on the table. He went over a few things, as this was our first time here, and left us to look over the menu. He was back in a few minutes to take our drink order and ask if we had any questions. We talked about a few of his favorites and suggestions and placed our order.Drinks were out quickly and followed by their amazing house bread and dipping sauce. While we sat devouring the bread, we saw so many wonderful dishes come out of the kitchen. A lot of...awe that looks so good, maybe next time, were said. After sitting for a bit, one of the managers, I assume, came over to check and see how we were doing. We chatted a little and were thanked a few times for coming in. Soon after, our food arrived. WOW!! Both dinners looked amazing!! We dug in and both had the biggest smiles on our faces...we made great choices. Everything was so delicious, that made up our minds that we will be back.Andrew came over a few times to check on us and so did another manager. Again, thanked a number of times for coming in. We cannot wait to come back and explore more of the menu, however, that will be tough with how delicious our dinners were.We had the chicken parm and the eggplant dish. Both were unique in the additions, and it worked. The eggplant was paired with homemade rigatoni and pesto with crispy brussel sprouts. Interesting...but it all worked. The chicken parm had a cheese ravioli with a cream sauce. Again, not your typical side, but it worked. After dinner, we were offered desert or an after dinner drink. We were stuffed from dinner, so we declined. Andrew again thanked us for coming in and said he would love to see us again soon. As we were walking out, again another thank you with a big smile.Overall, a wonderful evening. The staff went above and beyond, the food was amazing and the atmosphere was welcoming. We will be back soon...Thank you Vaccaro’s Trattoria!!
Great place, food is excellent and owner is a fantastic guy. Took my wife and kids and my mom for dinner. Short rib arancini app is delicious. Dont see grilled caesar salads in many places, so we definitely all got those. All entrees were fantastic, especially my burrata chicken parmesan. Got an affogato for dessert, dont leave without ordering one of those! It was a wonderful family evening and I cant wait to go back.
Fantastic gem of a place, top notch! The calamari with pickled onions and roasted red peppers was a very surprising and delicious combination. Homemade pasta, and half price wine nights. Our server Rosie was a delight...shes worth her weight in gold - give that woman a raise! Will be back next time we trek back through Ohio. Well worth it to these weary travelers!
Ordered the $40 meal for 4 to go special they offer weekly and got 2 pizzas, a quart of wedding soup, and a large antipasto salad. Everything in the meal was excellent! If you are looking for excellent quality food without going into the restaurant to eat, take a look at those weekly dinners for 2 or 4. I highly recommend it
The food tasted good and the service was good also The only complaint that I have was the salad. It tasted as if the tomatoes were very old and should have been thrown away as did the cucumbers. Being that it was a tomato and cucumber salad it was rather disgusting. The rest of the food was good and I had no complaints with it.
I always make an effort when I venture out to visit local family owned restaurants. We are so very blessed to have had the rich history we have had here in Akron, Ohio with The Vaccaro Family.I am blessed to be able to call Raphael a friend. I have been a customer for decades at Vaccaros Trattoria, and have frequently used the catering services.Raphael has done many catering events for me including: fundraising dinners, family gatherings, class reunions, and client appreciation parties. Each time he has approached the events with a creative spirit conscientious of the budget I had to work with, and has surpassed my expectations. God bless you brother. It has always been an adventure visiting my friend at his wonderful restaurant that he sacrifices so much to serve others. Most recently, I applaud his efforts to serve local families with quality food at reasonable prices during Covid 19. Thank you for your obedience.I highly recommend Raphael Vaccaro for all your fine dining, take out, delivered fresh meals, and all of your catering needs. In Akron, Vaccaros Trattoria is synonymous with Italian food. An institution indeed.
Disappointed really. I know we need to grant some forbearance to restaurants these days, but we waited well over an hour for our food. Server disappeared at the end and a manager took over. Still wanted it to be better. Kids seemed to be standing around instead of running orders! Staffing?? Hmmm
Our server was very friendly and did a good job of recommending which bottle of wine to select. We got our wine and salads. I understand that the food is made in house and very fresh..but we waited an hour for our dinners... Two of the people at my table had spaghetti and meatballs, I had angel hair and scallops. I dont understand what took so long.. Our food was delicious though. I would eat here again.
Wife and me got to try Vaccaros Trattoria pizza last night and it was delicious. Raphael Vaccaro the owner a few weeks back while wife and me dine in his restaurant stop by our table durning dinner and ask if everything was up to par and we got to talking and told him I did a tour of pizza around Akron I in 2019 once a week try a different local mom and pop pizza shop. Was over 30 different shops I have try and did my rating on each. Was a great way to actually see whats out there was very enjoyable. So Raphael Vaccaro said you have to give mine a try I want on your list. So last night we took him up on the offer. Turned out he does sale a delicious pizza. Leaves your mouth wanting more. Would highly recommend giving it a try if you have not already.
Delicious food served by attentive staff in a pleasant atmosphere. The menu is varied and full of lots of taste sensations. Its not necessarily the traditional fair that you would expect, but so much better. And all the pasta is homemade! Everything was hot and delicious, and the atmosphere is perfect as the noise level allows you to have normal conversation. Tables are not crowded in the room-- they are nicely spaced. An enjoyable experience for a date night or if youre gathering with friends.
Nice atmosphere. Good food. My childs cheese pizza came out covered with large chunks of onions, we did not order onions. The waiter said thats just how its made. That would have been nice to know considering it was for a small child. Not a kid friendly restaurant in my opinion but now I know for next time.
I am sorry to say that it was miserably slow service today. While our server was very pleasant she just couldnt save the experience as we waited just over an hour for our meals. In total we were at the restaurant for nearly 2 hours for lunch. Note...there were probably 4 other tables during this time so it wasnt a customer flow issue! The food quality varied (party of 6) but overall was good. Reasonable prices for lunch and the restaurant was clean and quiet.
This was my first experience with Vaccaros and I so hope it is not my last. We hosted my sisters wedding reception here. The staff are exceptional. Hands down the BEST servers and staff I have had the pleasure of interacting with. They made sure everything went smoothly and everyone was taken care of. The only thing that outshines the staff is the food. Oh goodness the food. Every dish was delicious, no bland over cooked rigatoni here, just mouthwatering chicken Parmesan, eggplant involtini, prime sirloin. Vaccaros was responsible for making the end of my sisters wedding day amazing, thank you.
We visited Vaccaro’s on Saturday, May 18. We had reservations which I booked months ago and told them we were celebrating my Husbands 68th birthday. We got there on time and we were seated immediately. We then sat there for 15 minutes without anyone speaking to us. Finally, someone came by the table to ask us if we had been helped. She got us our drinks and we ordered an appetizer. We had finished our appetizer before a server finally came to our table to take our order. The food took a long time but when we got it, it was good. While we did get an apology for the poor service from our overworked server, no one else, manager or owner, came to our table to apologize and no one ever mentioned my Husbands birthday. It was terribly disappointing. I think they knew we were from out of town and just didnt care about giving us good service. We will not be going back.
I was so excited to share this restaurant with my family. We dont live close and were on our way to Cleveland. We arrived at 5:30. Everyone had a drink. I was the only one who had a refill (it was a mixed drink). We had shrimp cocktail and a salad. Finally at 6:45 our entrees came up and still no refills on soda or water! We had to leave because we would be late for an event. So the waitress boxed everything up and we ended up not eating for the evening! This was very disappointing!
Took my lovely wife of 30+ years to Trattoria Vaccaros last evening to celebrate Valentines Day. I had the Pasta with bolognaise sauce and added mushrooms, my wife had the local grass fed beef with mashed potatoes and gravy. Ive been to Italy and I can honestly say Ive never had better pasta. Its made fresh each morning. My pasta dish was $16 plus whatever they charged for the mushrooms. Had a bite of my wifes steak and it was delicious and tender. I even loved the onions in the gravy and mashed potatoes. Our waitress was terrific. The price is very fair. This is fine dining that wont break the budget. This is not a fast food restaurant so dont expect your meal in 5 minutes after you place the order. When you want to have good conversation and great Italian food, no better place in NE Ohio. 5 Stars! Rafael the owner does a lot of giving back to the community. I had never met him before last evening. About 6 months ago, I attended an event to benefit TRY Ministries which helps rehabilitate men out of prison and Trattoria Vacarros was a sponsor of the event. I mentioned that to the waitress and she said he does a lot of giving to local charities.
Did the COVID - carry out this evening. With on-line ordering and convenient pickup, what’s not to love? Oh and the food is fantastic! Perfectly prepared, delicious entrees - plenty for four. My only regret is that I forgot to order dessert. Can’t wait to come back when the dining room re-opens. Thank you!
Vaccaros is a traditional Akron food service family. The ambience is very nice but did not match the service. The food was good, but even though two of us in my party (5 people) ordered the same item, the food arrived looking significantly different (including missing items advertised in the menu). The waiter was friendly and out going -- quite boisterous actually -- but he was better suited for a sports bar than a restaurant designed for moderate fine dining. Another waiter, possibly a wine steward, dumped the wine into the wine glasses, some of it spilling on the table. The entire service became comical including giving us a bill for twice the amount...which turned out to be from a group that left an hour before us. Overall, food was good, too expensive for the portions and type of items, service was friendly but too many errors and not equal to the atmosphere, -- the whole restaurant would be better as a family style relaxed LESS EXPENSIVE place instead of attempting to be fine dining upper class sophisticated dining. The food taste was the redeeming factor for this restaurant. My party and I likely will not be back but I would consider ordering their catering.
We like to go for the chefs tasting. It makes us feel like its our own special night with a chef that gets to express his own personality. Sometimes, we get to meet the chef too!Regardless, we get to go on a journey. Sometimes its like fire works of Food Wars caliber flavor! Other times, its just fantastic. (which is still...um, duh, FANTASTIC!)But, either way, we get to see what the chef can do! Its an experience! And paired with their fantastic wine?! Are you kidding me?!Im glad to be a part of it!Thanks for making our special days feel so special. If only for one evening. Please Trattoria Vaccaro, never get rid of it! =D
Found this little gem by accident but our returning there in the future will be no accident. Portions are very ample and their sauces are very tasty. Staff very attentive and helpful. They willingness to adapt to their customers wishes are an excellent example of customer first mentality.
I took my family here. Found on Open Table and quickly regretted it. Server was much more interested in two couples behind my family and waited over fifteen minutes for water and not less than twenty minutes for bread. Would not recommend this for anyone who expects well performed service. The food was very tasty, but cant overcome its abysmal staff.
Had lunch there yesterday (Dec. 21). Arrived at 11:30am and they hadnt even turned the heat on yet. The service was ridiculously slow. We waited 45 for our appetizers and our entrees werent served until 1:20pm. I ordered angel hair with tomato cream sauce. First, 2 of us had to send back our pasta because they had the wrong sauces, then both the pasta and gnocchi were overcooked (how does that happen in an italian restaurant?) and the sauce tasted like Chef-Boy-R-Dee. So disappointed, wont be going back.
Best old world style traditional cooking and presentation. Fantastic appetizers. Easter Buffet was out of this WORLD. Thanks a million for this idea! So far out of the box, the big box restaurants can not even come close to the flavor and TLC you and your staff put into the Guest Experience. Keep up the amazing job. Your attention to detail is breathtaking. You are the proud owner of one of the BEST restaurants in OHIO.
Amazing Italian cuisine! My family is from Sicily & Abruzzi, Italy and I was blown away by the homemade pasta & focaccia bread. I truly felt like I was with my family. The owner came by our table to chat which was a breath of fresh air, a sincere and charming conversation!
We dined at the bar tonight - Karen was the bartender and she was above and beyond! The owner made his rounds several times throughout our time in the restaurant - it was evident that he had personal connections with several individuals dining in...wonderful customer service, wine, and food!
My wife Luna and I would like to thank the owner and staff for a fantastic evening on Valentines Day. The dishes we ordered were outstanding. White bass and pan seared scallops hit the spot. The bottle of 2009 Carema Italian wine paired up well with these dishes. Whether dinner or lunch the menu always pleases the palate!
JUNE 2017 I ordered from the Vicarros Trattoria catering menu to feed four soccer teams this past weekend (U15-U18). Italian food is an easy go-to to feed our hungry athletes. Not only was the food plentiful and fairly priced, it was delivered piping hot and absolutely delicious! The lasagna was TO DIE FOR! I also ordered the rigatoni (pomodoro for our vegetarians and bolgnese)...also fabulous! The players raved about the food! I could have eaten an entire meal of the bread...perfect crust and blend of garlic and salt on top. After raving to the owner this morning about our experience, he told me that their recipes are handed down - strictly old school. They make their own pasta too. If you are looking for authentic and delicious Italian food to feed a crowd, I highly recommend Vaccaros.
Amazing place! Went to dinner with 3 Italians who kept muttering under breath OMG just like what nonna used to make! Genuine all hand made old world recipes. If you remember home style Italian cooking or wonder what authentic is, you will not be disappointed! Also - check out their home made Baileys - delish!!!
Came in for dinner with my family. We are vegetarians so we had ordered pasta and salad with no chicken/meat. Long and behold after waiting and having high expectations , our food came out with chicken. Our waitress was great and apologized. But somewhere, some one dropped the ball which delayed our food from coming out which also caused us to cancle our post dinner plans to watch a movie at the theater.
The food was delicious the service was good but the drinking water was incredibly salty when we repeatedly told our servers of the salt water issue we were continuously told that the water was fine they may salt their water to get people to buy more drinks I found the situation quite odd Ive eaten there for years and have never had that happen before
We love it of course you have to wait for your food it is worth the wait for freshly made pastas I read the review of how long the people had to wait of course you do for great food they should go to a restaurant that makes everything in big batches and then they wont have to wait its worth the wait besides you are supposed to relax and enjoy your company you are with and have a wonderful conversation instead of looking at your phone and not even acknowledging the person sitting across from you which is what you see every time you go out Love Raphael the owner he will always make sure you are satisfied Teresa and Frank
I have to say,I finally got to go there, and I was over impressed..food was marvelous, service was superb. Our waiter Bill,,was fantastic...the chef even bought us a delicious drink..I have the same last name, but no relation, and I will definately drive 1.5 hours again SOON

2022-07-14We had a good time here. Our waitress was super nice. The food was good but not great. And the service was a little slow. We weren’t mad about it though. We were happy to sit and chat as the atmosphere was very upscale but relaxed. I do have to say the limoncello crème brûlée was so amazing that I would drink through a straw in a large cup if that was an option.

2022-01-21We got the chicken burrata parmigiana to go and it was absolutely delicious!! The chicken was juicy and the cream sauce paired well with the tomatoes. The dinner was packaged in a sturdy tupperware and wrapped in plastic wrap to ensure nothing spilled anywhere. Since the pandemic started we order to go options more than we sit down at a restaurant now and this is by far the best to go packaging I’ve seen.Fantastic customer service - we will be back!!

2021-07-20This restaurant is truly exquisite. The food is superb, the plates come out of the kitchen hot and the presentation is outstanding. Our Server Rob, excelled in every way. He was easily the best of every waiter during our 30 day road trip. This place is a must try. You can thank me later ! Below is my chicken parmigiana. Easily the best I ever had !

2022-07-06I came with some colleagues from work to discuss business. The restaurant is located conveniently right off 77 but that’s pretty much where the benefits end. We were sat awkwardly close to another table. I was essentially closer to folks on the adjacent table than my own party. It took 1 hr and 45 min to get bread (the bread was good though) and the appetizers were cold. We really didn’t have an appetite by the time dinner came and we just wanted to go home. The restaurant was maybe operating at 75% capacity. The owner was walking around chatting with customers. He really should have been helping the wait staff cover the tables if he was short staffed. I’m sure everyone would have rather had their dining needs met than pleasantries. I doubt we will return.

2022-01-20Chicken Parmigiano was fantastic and my wife loved the Eggplant! They brought a special dessert out for her birthday as well! Pizza seemed a bit undercooked but everything else was great. Service was also top notch.

2022-03-12I have to say this was our first time ordering takeout from here, we ordered it online before they even opened it gave us an automatic pick up time for 5:10 PM which I totally understand. I worked in restaurants for about 18 years and I was a restaurant manager and understand that things happen. When we were have to pick up our food not only was it not ready but they tried to give us the wrong order three times thankfully my boyfriend asked me what I ordered or else he would’ve gotten home a half hour away with the wrong food. I had even called to be sure that he could pay at the time of pick up and they just seemed completely clueless, he did not leave the restaurant until 5:25 PM and we had ordered it online at 3:33 or so. Still have yet to try it since he still driving home but I just really hope that the food is good …

2022-05-31Food was good but there was a large party that was soooo loud. We were celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary and we couldn’t even talk because of the noise. Spoke with the manager and she treated us very well. They are great people!!

2022-05-11My eggplant parmesan was extremely salty and I had to return it. 3 people ordered alfredo w/ chicken. The chicken was over cooked and dry.Our server was great, though.
