Urban Grill on Main in Cincinnati
While the atmosphere here is fun, stick to sandwiches here as everything else is over priced and not executed well for a limited menu that they have all control to change (the menu is completely digital and only available at the hostess stand). This was our 2nd time here and my husband got the ribs, I got one of the shrimp specials. The ribs were okay but not great. And the shrimp special, for $37 mind you, came with 5 prawns on a bed of rice. I was told I would need to peel the prawns, which I have done before. But if you dont know how to prepare shrimp to peel, then dont put them on the menu. They were not sliced up the back for easy access, they were sliced up by the feet so I had to peel each segment and more of the prawn ended up in a pile on the side of my plate stuck to shells than actually in the meal and we had to stop for additional food on the way home because it made about 12 bites of food. This was brought up to the waitress who had no idea how to acknowledge that anything was wrong. And then we were asked to tip on a machine right in front of her. All in all we dropped $100 for 2 people for a very forgettable meal and wont be back.
Just Wow! Our waitress was new, she had only been there about 2 weeks but if she didnt know an answer to a question she got it quickly. She was a wonderful waitress! The food....🤤🤤🤤 it was sooo amazing. I HIGHLY recommend trying this place out. Their outdoor patio is gorgeous!
We had lunch . Me and a friend each had a cup of french Onion soup. We split a sandwich of breaded Grouper which the breading was i believe corn flakes . It was a large piece of fish that had lettuce tomato, and lite mayo . It was a good sandwich . It is a little pricey but it is worth it to have good food prepared to eat . Jean Wesley
I would only give a 3 star on this restaurant and that being probably for drinks and appatiser or a sandwich yes it would be good, but main course I got Prime rib steak and even though it was tender it was dry and thats because it wasnt cooked that day and maybe even frozen prior to serving. No ojouise was with steak and the mashed potatoes seemed as maybe they were frozen prior to serving also and all that for a woping $41.00 for that meal, like I said the appatiser was good, no menu was brought to the table the waitress insist to use QR code on phone, well if you came in for a meal and left your reading glasses in your vehicle and have problems reading without I will guarantee you will have issues looking over the menu over you phone. Our total transaction for dining for 2 was $89.00 which seems high for the quality of food being served, also transaction taken at table with a small tablet which a receipt is always more user friendly to the consumer so we can look over charges on a more efficient time and when a recient was requested at our table it did seem to be anot issue to the waitress, but with all that said I may be back for drinks and appi. In the future but not the main course! B. Moore
Whoa, I cant say enough about this place. We started with the bacon appetizer, it was phenomenal. Seasoned perfectly, but what I was really impressed with was the way that it was cooked PERFECTLY! My wife had the chicken, it was exactly how chicken should taste! Juicy and exquisite. I enjoyed the Pot Roast. It was not my Mothers Pot Roast! This was excellent. Very well done. My only complaint would be the portion sizes, Im a bigger guy and my meal left me wanting more!
The Urban Grill food truck has been a favorite of mine since I first tried it back in 2013. Now that they have a brick and mortar location they are easier to find. The 1870s farmhouse in Newton has been home to the Urban Grill on Main since January 2017.As this is an old farmhouse, the inside space is separated into rooms and even a covered patio. There is also a small bar area, so seating options are plentiful and they do take OpenTable reservations if you are planning to visit during a peak time.Urban Grill is famous for their grilled mac n cheese, which can be found sandwiched on a bun and topped with a variety of toppings. I went with the Urban Mac with pepper bacon and pepper relish ($12). This normally comes with kettle chips but I upgraded to fresh-cut fries for $3. The grilled mac n cheese actually holds up really well in sandwich form as the crispy cheese on the outside helps keep the creamy inside contained. Each of the grilled mac sandwiches Ive tried are great! My wife went with the couscous salad with grilled chicken, vegetables, slivered almonds, golden raisins, cranberries, and goat cheese ($10). She choose to have it topped with Thai peanut sauce. She was in love with this dish. I tried a bite of it and found the complex dish full of a variety of flavors and quite filling. My son had the mini burger with chips ($6) and ate nearly the entire thing. The unique thing hear is that the cheese is grilled onto the bun, similarly to how the mac n cheese is grilled. So the cheese is a bit crispy and adds an interesting texture. My daughter had the grilled chicken and mac n cheese ($6). It was also served with kettle chips and was a very large plate of food for a kid. Urban Grills chicken is marinated, grilled, and pulled into bite size pieces making it very easy for anyone to eat.Overall we have been extremely happy with the Urban Grill on Main and have been back a few times in the year since their opening. We will continue to frequent for delicious hand crafted food in a comfortable and family friendly space.
I didnt get to eat here as the wait was just too long but had a drink at the bar while I tried to endure the wait. They have great outdoor seating with nice heat elements. Although I would have waited but you have no heated waiting areas and honestly couldnt keep my kiddos in the cold. Would love to go back as this warm rum cider was amazing.
We went there for a celebration of life in memory of my nephew, not only did they open the doors for us, but they shared their memories of my nephew. The food here is phenomenal and the service was the best!! Thanks again for all you did for Timmy!! Well be coming again real soon
Amazing! From the constantly adapting menu to the amazing service! They have their core menu and then they have a changing special menu with some great options! I do recommend getting a reservation for weekends as they are usually pretty slammed then, but since they use OpenTable for reservations, it is a breeze to do. You will never leave hungry!
Urban Grille was recommended by some friends whod been there before. This was our first visit. The L-shaped building has a couple of different sections for dining. The new addition is called The Ark, and is popular for milder weather. They have several dishes featured daily, which can change even during ordering. I had one entree picked out to try, but when the server told us about the changes I decided on a different selection.Urban Grille has a good variety of wines, as well as some craft beers on tap. They serve Coke products.I wanted to try the the bacon sticks, but wed been sitting and talking a while before ordering. Our server, Sue, says theyd just put some on and it would be another 25 minutes or so to get them. She recommended the Bacon Jam Toast, so I tried that. It was delicious. The jam is smoky and spicy, with the sweetness of bacon and a nice chewy texture. There was a creamy butter underneath that, and it all rested on a thick toasted baguette. Its a great tasting dish, but very filling. Make sure your table mates help you eat itI ordered the Smoked Turkey wrap, which featured red onion, avocado, and a bit of bacon jam. It was tasty and once again, very filling. I brought half of it home, but I mightve finished it had I not ordered an appetizer. The wrap was served with fries, which had a crunchy breading. They made a hearty compliment. My group of five had a reservation for Sunday afternoon, but it wasnt needed that day. Reservations are recommended, however.Im going to add Urban Grille to my list of favorite Cincinnati restaurants and go back. The nice thing is you can plan on more sophisticated entrees from a daily menu, or go with more standard, cause fare.
Five stars for customer service and the food was great!!! We arrived with plans to walk the bike trail with our pup and then grab dinner in The Ark section (dog friendly). When we arrived, we discovered The Ark was booked for a private party. The staff greeted me and made me feel that they truly cared about us and went above and beyond to accommodate our group and puppy in the “outdoor/enclosed heated bar” area. They offered to heat this area just for us. When I thanked them for this, they proceeded to thank us for dining with them. Can’t say enough positive about the service and the food was delicious! I highly recommend Urban Grill!
The facility was fine…clean and well staffed. My wfe enjoyed her salad and had the ribs special. The ribs were tender BUT I discovered, after the fact, that they were 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 better after scraping off all the candied, caramelized sauce.Lastly, deep fried, macaroni & cheese and Guetta isnt my cup of tea.
Dined here with some friends. Excellent food and service! Wife had the wings which were large and very good and I had the bbq chicken sandwich which was excellent. Serving size was large by today’s standards and a good value. Will definitely return to try some more of the menu.
This is a must try if you haven’t been. I’ve been driving by since they opened and had never popped in to try it and I am so glad I did. I know I will now be a regular. The menu is eclectic and has things you wouldn’t find anywhere else in Cincinnati. The food was amazing. I highly recommend the pulled pork melt. WOW! What is equally as great as the food if not better was the service which you just don’t find these days. From the warm welcome with a smile we received at the hostess stand to the friendly, fun and above and beyond service we got at the bar with Becky, it confirmed the fact that I would be here often. Excellent atmosphere, food and service! You can’t go wrong.
My second time eating here and Im unimpressed. Not so much that I wouldnt give it another try, but itll be a cautious return. Had the special ribs, which were tasty and tender, but have left me unwell the following morning. Also tried the key lime pie, which is ridiculously sized and feels like lead going down. Good key lime should be light, a little fluffy, and the crust a bit crumbly. This was dense like cheesecake and you needed a chisel on the crust. Nice atmosphere, but maybe I just have to find whats good on their menu.
Really wished I had read the reviews telling black people not to bother coming before I had wasted my time. My fiancé and I have just left here after an hour and fifteen minute wait for food.We walked in and stood at the hostess podium. A white middle aged woman was in front of us so it never crossed my mind to think that it might have anything to do with our skin. After a few minutes of waiting for a hostess I noticed that several employees had walked past without any acknowledgment to us or the woman. I found this strange to not have a single one of the four waitresses that walked past us to look our way and to not even say “someone will be with you in a moment”.We were finally seated after a few minutes and the waitress seemed nice enough so I put the lack of customer service out of my head. We ordered the smoked wings appetizer and while they were a bit dry, we still ate them because the flavor was still good. We had to ask the hostess for straws because the waitress forgot to leave them. No big deal. For our entrees my fiancée ordered the Ultimate burger and I got the fish nuggets and chips. We sat around for about 15 minutes when my fiancé decided to order a slice of pie to go. When our waitress went to go ring it up we asked for the check so that we could leave immediately after we ate telling the waitress we had to be somewhere in a hurry. She said ok and went to go get our bill while she had them bag up our pie. After paying and waiting another 15 or 20 minutes we asked how much longer our food would be. She said they were bringing it out right now. Another 10 minutes goes by. We flag down our waitress again (because she hadn’t come over a single time to check on us) and ask to have them just bag everything up since we wouldn’t have time to eat there any longer. She says ok and goes in the back. We sit there for ANOTHER 10 minutes or so just waiting for them to bring the food out. I tell my fiancé he needs to have them take everything off the bill except for the wings we ate but he just says let’s go as we finally see the waitress coming over with our food in the boxes. This whole time I’m fuming! I watched as three tables that came in after us with more than two people get seated and served ALL of their food while we had been waiting for ours. I try to console myself with the knowledge that I can at least eat in the car but no! The food is DISGUSTING!! The fish is completely dried out and the fries were old from having been sitting in the window for god knows how long and their so called mac and cheese that they pride themselves on tastes like velveeta cheese mixed with mayonnaise. Wasted time and money!!! All in all we sat there from about 1:15 to 2:30 and spent 52 dollars on trash.I will NEVER come back here which I’m sure is perfectly fine with them. If you are black or any other POC I would highly advise to keep on driving unless you don’t mind being made to feel worthless.
Service was extremely slow. Burgers were overdone even though ordered medium. Food was over priced for what you get. Burgers are large but size is not as important as flavor and the flavor was blah to say the least. I do not like the way you pay the bill. I prefer to have the server take my card and do the work rather than have an electronic device handed to me at the table with the tip already included. I asked for a receipt and the server said she would get one but never did so we left. The only thing good about the whole experience was the skillet cookie dessert. My daughters meal was wrong and the owner was very rude to her about it and did not offer restitution. We will not be returning.
Urban Grill is one of my favorite restaurants for many reasons. First, the food is extraordinary. Everything is well thought out down to the details. The burger is flavorful as you can taste all of the ingredients. On weekends, they have specials in which include all types of seafood! They even have plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options. Second, the environment. Urban Grill’s employees are all amazing. The hostess welcomes you, the servers are very attentive and polite, even Betsy the owner will check in on you to make sure you are enjoying your food. They all want to make your experience the best, and it truly shows. I will continue to come to Urban Grill every week! Thank you so much Urban Grill family.
Great service, staff and atmosphere. The food is excellent. Go hungry because portions are huge. We had wings, chilli, burgers, bbq fried chicken sandwiches and fries. My daughter hates coleslaw but she loves the way you guys made it. Id give you guys more than 5 stars if I could. We will definitely be going back soon.
Urban Grill is always wonderful. We sat outside on their ark as they call it. We went for Sunday brunch for the first time and ordered their crab eggs Benedict. It was very good! The crisp prosciutto was a nice touch for texture and hollandaise was delicious! There are plenty of fans in the rafters to keep a nice breeze going on those hot summer days. Well be back!
This was our first visit after hearing alot of positive reviews from friends. We went for lunch and I had the fried grouper which was gigantic. My husband had the pork belly tacos. The outdoor seating area is nice. Overall it was good. Will have to try for dinner another time.
Food was decent but definitely over priced, the prices they charge youd expect a burger to not be a frozen patty with some hard cheddar over it, a very disappointing burger. Service was decent. Atmosphere was really nice on the deck. Drinks could be made better again for the price you pay youd expect a simple old fashioned to be made correct or even the mules to be made with real fruit and not flavored vodka.
Slooowww service, that wasnt very friendly, and mediocre food. Its too bad because they have a great outdoor dining space. The steaks were super chewy and the cheese on the hamburger became hard as a rock... you could break it like a cracker... odd. Our third try (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and its been consistently the same.
Spent over $100 on a fish sandwhich a two burgers (one of them a kids meal). Chips with my fish sandwhich was an extra $3 which i was told came with it, and fries an extra $5 with my husbands burger. Food was mediocre and extremely overpriced for what you get. Service was terribly slow considering it was 2pm and there was no one there.. So disappointed. Wont be returning.
Great place for Sunday brunch! Plenty of outdoor shaded dining available and a few socially distanced tables inside for those who cant handle the heat and humidity outside. Omelettes were amazing. Breakfast potatoes were delicious - just had a little more of a kick than was expecting. Mimosas (one with orange juice & one with white cranberry juice) were awesome. As always service was impeccable.
Anymore my desire to eat out must include healthy options or forget it. Urban Grill does pretty well. I had their Chicken Couscous Salad with almonds and tomatoes. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The dish was tasty. I think adding another veggie to it would be a plus. Also, adding an unsweetened herbal or green tea as a beverage option would be a plus. The atmosphere is nice. A very friendly local community vibe. Makes me feel like Im in the Carolinas. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Just one other suggestion: the salad is crammed into a little bowl. I asked for a dinner plate to pour it onto. I still got a lunch size plate and my silverware kept falling off. The food would present better and be more functional with appropriate dishes. But, thats getting picky. Sorry. Definitely support this local restaurant. Its worth it for sure.
We really wanted to love this place as we drove by it often and loved the vibe of it and menu... However we had such an awful experience. We went with our two year old and we were sat on a cold patio with no heat when it was around 40 degrees outside.. We asked to be moved inside once a table opened and were quoted it would be around 10-15 minutes..it was either wait there and at least order food or go back outside and wait.. So we waited and the server said she would move us ASAP. When we asked for an update about 20 minutes later she said oh no its gonna be a lot longer than that... So we decided to cancel our order and leave as we were freezing.. Right when we said that a tablesuddenly opened inside. The OWNER came to us with an attitude and said can I help you?! I expressed what was going on and she said no...once you sit down you cannot switch tables I responded that the server and hostess both knew we were waiting.. She said well I can move you inside now. At that point we were so cold and just not in the mood to stay after that. So I resumed in saying we would like to cancel order please, she then said it doesnt work like that, I can pack it to go it was about a$70 meal and we were disrespected and freezing and had a toddler.. She kept saying we had to pay and arguing us for around 15 minutes!- I couldnt believe this was the owner, its so unfortunate that we will not be back to support that business. Customer service goes a long way. We were very patient and calm and asked very little.. We paid for what we had gotten already and tipped extra for our SERVER.
Our family have been frequent patrons for a long time; well until this Covid-19 mess. We recently had lunch at your restaurant and the food and service were excellent. Here’s my rub: the waitress brings me her “hand-held” and states it automatically comes up with a 20% tip add. No paper receipt, which you can see attached shows “suggested additional tip” – just this hand-held and her comment.Your restaurant went from a 5-star excellent meal to a 1-star because of the rudeness of that tip request. You never put the customer in an awkward situation!!! NEVER!!!We always tip for outstanding service; but to have that shoved at me was appalling!!! Needless to say, we have not been back
First time here last evening, sat on the deck area, which filled up quickly. I think there were less people on the inside. Service was great (Alex). We had the wings (plain) which were really good with a nice smoked flavor. The house salad was crisp and the house dressing was really good. I tried the dinner special, the tempura lobster tail, served over lobster mac and cheese. It was a little disappointing, as the tempura batter was soggy (should be crispy) and the meal was lukewarm. It tasted okay, but not wonderful and definitely not worth the price tag of $37.00. Would have better in my opinion to skip the tempura batter and just broil the lobster. The burgers looked really good, so our next trip, we will probably stick with the basics.
First- a customer should not feel pressured as a waitress towers over them, staring and holding the device in which they tip on while paying for their bill. If a consumer feels they had a bad time at the restaurant, they should be able to tip less in private. Our waitress came back to our table for a “last call” and neglected to ask for refills or different drinks aside from alcoholic beverages. Second major problem aside from service, the food was room-temperature and cold in the center of the burger on top of being bland. After asking for an extra side of ketchup, filling a 2-tbsp cup with an amount of ketchup most would put on one French fry iced the cake on the food. The fries were chewy, making my jaw tired before getting 1/4 way through the plate (usually means old fryer oil- but not sure because the fries were light in color?). Maybe this place does better with the more expensive entrees they have and maybe it was an off-day but I would like nothing more than a refund for $60 meal my awful experience.
OK I’ll admit it I tried something that was out of my comfort zone. That was supposedly better for the earth (apparently this fish is a top of food chain invasive species?) Needless to say I was surprised when the lion fish came out in full regalia, fried, upright, fins/spines looking quite daunting. Quite honestly the thought running thru my head at the time was, “What have I done?” And “How the heck do I eat that?” Somehow I managed. Not much meat and a meh on the taste. Worth the $36? I don’t think so. My first time there so I may have to give it a crack some other day and stick to what they do best or at a very minimum work less for my meal 🐡 wife liked her steak and drinks
Not what I expected. Service mediocre even though our server had minimum tables. Waited 8 minutes for water refills.?? I worked in food and beverage for 30 plus years in management. Not sure if Urban Grill reads these comments but they need focus on service. I know its currently trending but it can fade at any point
Slow service. Food took forever.. Out of items. You would think the waitress wouldve told us they were out of multiple items since they dont even have a physical menu. Not sure how you run out of an item the waitress just told me was good. No rib sandwich. Ok Ill have the jerk chicken tacos. Oh wait were out of that too. Sure wont be back.
Our first experience will be our last. We looked at the menu online before arriving and their new menu didnt match with their restaurant one. No problem considering we are in Masks and Covid times. Our waitress seemed liked we were a bother to her. We had two kids with us and they got the $5 kid meals. We asked for fries instead of chips, apparently it was a $3 upcharge for fries per kid meal. We werent told this. I was a server trainer for 8 years and a manager for 5 years and a server should always let their customers know an upcharge in my opinion. It wasnt about the money it was the lack of communication. Our food arrived, our $12 fries were cold and the food was less than Wendys quality. My chicken was all breading with a hint of chicken. I dont normally complain, but if I wanted to complain, my waitress wasnt coming to check on food quality or drink refills, she was busy talking at the bar. We seemed like we were bothering her during lunch time, so we do sincerely apologize for bothering Urban Grill, it will not happen again. Good note - My wifes Cuban sandwich was good...service bad and food was not worth eating.
The Urban Grill on Main is such a great place to get good food and hangout with friends on the deck. They have a really nice verity of menu items and everything Ive tried is absolutely worth ordering again and again. And if you like bread pudding then you have to stop in and give it a try. I believe theres a new flavor every week. Today was banana pudding bread pudding. Yep I had some. Urban Grill on Main has probably the best outdoor dinning opportunities on the East Side. This is a stop that should be on your list to try.
Excellent food & service and enjoyed dining on the spacious covered patio. It was hot yesterday so we appreciated the fans.My meal was the Couscous salad with asparagus, cranberries, grape tomatoes, and ribeye steak. My husband enjoyed the blackened grouper sandwich with a side of macaroni & cheese. The blues music they play (Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton...) is our favorite genre. We already look forward to our next visit!
Best meal Ive had in a long time! Ive never had a perfectly cooked steak via carry out EVER, until NOW at Urban Grill. I ordered the Ribeye medium with chimchurri, green beans, and sour cream mashed potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Presentation was impeccable, even in a carry out container. Staff was warm & friendly. The owners, Randy & Betsy even came out to greet us & they made several accommodations to keep their customers and employees safe. I will definitely be back!
I rarely give 5-star reviews, I typically start my reviews at 4-stars and work down. What can you say about a place? The food and presentation are always spot-on. The staff is always friendly, fast and professional. Then, theres bacon. BACON! Due to Covid-19 they dont have the regular unbelievable regular bacon on the menu - its a limited menu. However, theyre offering a bacon bread thats absolutely incredible.Ive taken dates and out-of-town guests here on several occasions and everyone has loved this place. The Urban Grill has become a favorite place of mine!Enjoy!
The outdoor patio is wonderful in nice weather. I especially love the Main Street Salad. Its a large salad and so nice to have a variety of ingredients rather than the same old boring salad choices. Their couscous bowls are fabulous as well. I am excited to try their Sunday brunch.
Service was excellent, as well as food. In fact, so delicious that there were no leftovers! A rare thing for me, as I never finish a full meal..we will definitely be returning! The pulled pork and Johnny cakes were excellent, only suggestion would be to add a side of barbecue sauce with it. The Goetta mac and cheese balls were so good, too. Love it when local businesses are as impressive as this one.
We have previously been to Urban Grill on main for brunch and absolutely loved it! We drove out of our way to have dinner there. We expected a wait on a Saturday evening. We were told 40 minutes for a table of 2. We watched several others that arrived after us get seated for parities of 2-8. After waiting 60 minutes we inquired and were told they could not give us a timeframe for a table. We left hungry and disappointed. Not sure we will return.
Good food here. Cant ho wrong coming here. Very nice service. Im not a local in this area but my parents live near by and of course I grew up near by. This was my first time coming and its really good food and you can tell this place is like the old TV sitcom Cheers lol. Definitely would tell people about this place and I know the ones I tell will go there. I wouldnt just be advertising. No the ones I tell will show up. We are food lovers lol By the way I dont drink anymore but I would come here more often if I did lol Cheers you all!!
Let me start by saying the food was very good! The place looks great and our food came out quickly...but thats where the positive comments stop. Our server seemed to be having a bad day. A group at a table next to us left because their food order was not put in (we had the same server). The server seemed unsure if all of the menu items were available to us. It was 4:30pm, the place was pretty empty and we had a reservation so we were certainly expecting full access to all menu items. We had drinks, appetizers and sandwiches which were all very good but pricey! There were 3 couples at our table and our server was supposed to give us 3 checks. All 3 couples paid by card but 2 of the couples checks ended up being charged to one persons card. Good food but questionable service-not in any hurry to return.

Best burger east of the Mississippi.. I am a very picky eater I used to cook at the Red River Cattle Company years ago cook for some very big celebrities The Bengles Uncle Al and Captain Wendy always got good compliments. This burger came really close to one that I had down in Louisville at The Smokehouse but there burger here Beat It by a small margin so this is the best burger place I know of and again I am very picky the price is there but to me it was well worth the experience. And Sue our waitress is very awesome very knowledgeable and inattentive thank you very much
OVER PRICED! Me and my guest had their seared chicken dinner..Includes: One piece of chicken, rice, and 4 asparagus, brought out on what looks like a childs portion plate.. Mediocre, small portions. Our bill was 50 dollars!? for two meals and 2 cokes... way over priced for what you get! Service is not all that great either.. it took them a half an hour to bring our food out.. Skip this place and go to Red Robin.. better food! Much better price! Or go anywhere else for that matter...
Waited over an hour on food.Toast came out burnt beyond taste.Medium well steak came out... redMother in law didnt get what she ordered at all. Ham on a monte cristo shouldve been, instead prime rib comes out. After an hour wait of course we dont want anything else.Just seems like something is lacking communication wise. A monte cristo is ham and swiss cheese... if something sells out, let a customer know before they wait for food.
First time visiting, party of three, Saturday night, only waited about 10 minutes. Very friendly and helpful staff. The food was so much better than I expected, covered outdoor seating was very pleasant. The steak and veggie kabobs were super! Overall very good experience, well be back!
Ive been here twice, the first time was amazing! The second time was not so good. Service was great both times, food came quick. But the food was awful the second time, my meal was bland and my wifes burger was way over cooked and her toppings were slimy and old. I feel like the chef took the day off and the dishwasher cooked our food. Probably wont come here again. Also I read through other peoples comments, and the owner of urban grille wrote a comment on someones review complaining about them bringing there kids to the restaurant. Which is incredibly horrible to me. Have some respect for yourself urban grille, changed my review from 3 stars to 2 because if it.
We had dinner at the Urban Grill this evening with four others. Everyone enjoyed their meal. About half of us had selections from their burger menu. The burgers were excellent and the fresh buns with melted cheese a pleasant surprise. Good atmosphere but a little loud.
Overall, really good. Prices are mostly reasonable (but a little high). The atmosphere is good - casual but still has some class and character. The service was decent - the waiter was just okay - but food came out quickly and correctly. Id recommend it and Im sure well be back.
Thank god the food was good because my experience was not. The hostess forgot about my party and I had to check back with her after waiting 25 minutes when she quoted 2 or 3 minutes. We were seated next to a door which was used every few minutes to seat others outside. It should be known it was 30 degrees out and the cold air was extremely uncomfortable. I made a comment to another employee that the cold air coming in was annoying, she laughed and didn’t take the problem seriously. My hamburger was under cooked and they did get it right the second time. Our service was great, and that might be the only reason to return.
Im giving it a 5 due to the food. Everything was amazing expect the service. Our server came to the table 2 times. We were there mid afternoon so it was not crazy packed. We had to go request our own boxes and check. Our party of seven was shoved in a round table that was really set for 5. We will be back because, again, the food is great. I just hope the service is better next time!
Some of the best food in the trip state. Absolutely awesome. Menu will intrigue and the cuisine will blow you away. Great service and wonderful atmosphere. Easy to get to and good parking. One of our very favorite places to go. All the food is delicious so I have a hard time recommending just one. FISH TACOS, etc.. love it all.
The food is very good, and the staff is friendly and eager to please. My family and I have visited several times and plan to return. (However, the building is older and, some of the rooms are a bit chilly. If you have an older person in your party, they may be cold while dining.) Other than that, its great! We are never disappointed. Thumbs up to this new establishment.
So disappointed. We have dined at the Urban Grill a few times in the past. This evening we had an early dinner. We both ordered the chicken sandwich. When the order was delivered, one sandwich was supposed to be plain with barbecue sauce on it. It arrived with cheese, grilled onions and peppers. My date scraped all of the extras off and tried to enjoy the sandwich. The marinade was very bitter. Tasted like a strong mixture of just vinegar and lime juice. Then he tried the fries, which was an additional $3, only to find a long hair embedded in one. We explained the situation to our waitress. All she offered us to remedy the situation was a free dessert that we didnt want. Terribly disappointed with the customer service. Will need to think twice before considering a return to this restaurant.
This place will always be a fond memory favorite. The food is made from scratch...including their vegetarian burger which I had. Super yummy!!!! And their quaint, cozy but modern decor made a nice spot for my fiance to proposed to me. He told me he had planned to wait until New Years Eve but the warm home like feeling of the Urban Grill inspired us both to talk more of love and future. You will always be my favorite restaurant because of that.
I was very surprised and very pleased with this little Gem in Newtown Ohio. The service was very friendly and timely. The food although American as you can get with fried specialties is awesome. Large portions and tasty! The resturant was clean and orderly with inside and outside seating. The overall ambiance was a California cafe/grill... highly suggested you visit...
We came in 30 min before they closed on a Sunday evening. There was still a short wait! The service was excellent and the food was fantastic albeit a little pricey. I chatted with our waitress about their eco friendly policies and was pleasantly surprised to see they do not just hand out straws anymore. If you need one they will give you one but only if you ask AND they have biodegradable take out containers! Over all it was awesome.
Food was good. Very different. Not your everyday items on the menu. There are a few. Very expensive. Did not have a big selection so I just got soup and an appetizer. The appetizer was a combination sampler and had cold corn on the cob which I took home because I really dont want cold corn. The other things were good but not very much. Had 4 pcs of sugared bacon with some kind of spice to give it a kickPork Rinds which I like you can buy them $1 per bag and I may have gotten 8 on the plate, the one thing that I really did like was the macaroni/gotta fried balls. They were really good. Plus I got French Onion Soup very good but as I said very pricy. My bill with the tip was $29.00. I must say I probably wont go back their a little to high for my budget and what you get.
Heres a tip..make a reservation. 1st visit here was fine on a Sunday afternoon. Steak salad was delicious. 2nd visit 430 on Saturday and they nearly turned us away even though there were MANY empty tables saying they expected to get very busy. Tried to talk us into deck table even though it was unbearably hot outside. We had a drink, an app and then went to another place down the street where they happily took our $ and provided excellent service.
I would be very mindful of dealing with this restaurant. My husband and I placed an online order late afternoon on a Friday and when we went to pickup our carryout order we were told that it wasnt ready. We waited for 45 minutes and at that point we left the restaurant because it was clear that we were not going to be taken care. After we had already left we received a call from Betsy who proceeded to tell us that the miscommunication was our mistake because we came too early to pick up our food. I asked for our money back because the food was not ready at the requested pickup time and again we received attitude and backlash for them not taking any responsibility for their online customers. You would have thought they would have mentioned at some point during our 45 minute wait!? We were also told that it would be best for us to go elsewhere if we were not satisfied! Darn right Betsy....we will :-)
Great service, great food, and great atmosphere!! This place is so much fun to go during the summer when you can sit outside and take in all the smokey smells of the meats cooking. They have a great lunch menu but double check the day and time you go because they are not open everyday for lunch. The beef brisket is my favorite and they surprisingly have wonderful French onion soup as well! Youll love the urban Cincinnati feel of the restaurant and the adorable rustic aprons the servers wear. I wish the sold them!
I have eaten there twice. The first time wasnt impressed with the food or service. Menu has changed since then. Went there last weekend, asked for a seat outside. Told it would be a 10 minute wait. Walked out on the deck. Looked like about 10 tables and five open. Didnt really expect very good service after that. Went down to Newtown Pub. Seat yourself. Served within minutes.
Awesome experience! Great food, drinks and atmosphere. 👍👍 The restaurant is a really cool completely restored home in Newton with a great bar and dinning room lay-out. They have some of my favorite local craft beers like; Mt. Carmel Amber and 50 west punch you in the IPA. There is also a nice selection of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. I ordered the duck entre which was delicious! Theres a sauce on it that gives it great balance between sweet and savory, and I didnt know green beans could taste so good. Nice to have the side of mashed potatoes, and all very reasonably priced. Definitely coming back! Recommended to everyone!
This place is a hidden gem! The food was AMAZING! Ok ok....the prices are high I admit. $15 for a burger and fries for example? But Im telling you, its the best burger and fries youve ever tasted! Seriously! The beef is Japanese and is absolutely the best hamburger beef going. Everything 5asted so fresh, all the flavors mixing together perfectly. Alex F was our server and she was great as well. Well definitely be back. Highly recommend!
Im giving this 3 starts because of the food. When we first walked in, we were sat at a tiny table by the bar which in my opinion wasnt family friendly, we had a young child whos high chair would have stuck out in the walk way. When we asked to move it was made into a bigger deal than it should have been, they had to check to see if we were even allowed. When we were moved, they moved us into a back room that was hotter than a sauna and thankfully another table had complained about it before we did. When our server came to take our order she wasnt as friendly as youd hope your server would be and seemed to not care about anything but flipping tables (getting more customers) even though it wasnt very busy. When my mom order wine, she brought the wrong kind and argued with my mom about it (my mom is VERY knowledgeable with wine) before she brought her the correct kind. We didnt get to order for about 20 minutes after getting there, when she asked if we wanted to start with an appetizer, no, we want our meal.... Our food was pretty good but I ran out of water and had to stop her to ask for more. Finally she came to ask for dessert which took another 20-25 minutes to get, we were told 10-12 to make. Then after we finished it was even longer to get our check. Should have taken us an hour to sit eat and leave but we were there 2 hours, I probably wont be back.
Had dinner here last evening. The “special” was a smoked pulled pork sandwich. They were smoking the pork on site - it was delicious, and the bun looked huge but was light and perfect with the pork and barbecue sauce. It was served with kettle chips or fries. Our server was excellent also.
As you you walk up to the building you get a sense of walking into someones home. You know its a restaurant, but its warm and inviting. We were greet with friendly smiles and although busy at noon on a Sunday, we were offered a seat at the bar if we would like. Our bartender/server was gracious but not imposing. She gave us a moment to peruse the menu while she got us our drinks.Having dining partners with allergies to gluten and corners he suggested the pork rinds, which my son said, tasted like a wonderful heart attack. They were still crackling when the hit the table. We ordered a bunless burger for my wife and my son and I had the flank steak salad. The burger was wonderful with tremendous flavor. The flank steak is cut thick and is amazingly tender. It was a wonderful experience and well definitely be back.
Just was not impressed. The atmosphere was good and so was the decor. But on a side note the fries were extremely greasy yet they were somehow still under cooked.I had high hopes but was let down. Dont know if i will be coming back. I might give it another try but not for a while as it left an extremely sour taste in my mouth. Seemed like downtown Chicago prices but located in newtown.
Friendly staff, contemporary rustic atmosphere. This was our first visit to the Urban Grill, and both my wife and I loved it. Our waitress was very kind; the food was flavorful, as was the coffee. There was a medical incident during our visit that we felt was handled professionally by the staff.
I do not recommend that restaurant. I went to a birthday party there today for brunch, and my drink ( which it was Mimosa ), took 40 minutes, and the waiter didnt even bring the water first. Plus the food took 1:40minutes to get ready. It was a horrible service. I will never go back again and recommend for anyone. I definitely recommend Taste of Belgium or Maplewood for brunch.
We were visiting from Austin TX and my nephew recommended Urban Grill. Great food and atmosphere. We had the macaroni and cheese with BBQ chicken and ultimate steak burger with side salad. We had a large group and all the entrees had a gourmet flair to them. The salads are excellent with fresh mixed greens and veggies. Local brews on tap such as the Mt. Carmel amber ale, loved it. I highly recommend this place.
Let me say...love the decor! I will bring my husband back so he can get some ideas!😉I was driving to downtown Milford and passed by this great little place and thought this is something different. I walked in and was greeted immediately with a smile and a welcome. The owner waited on me and she was delightful! I was using my laptop and finishing up some work and she kept checking up on me! Made me feel very welcome. I will be back! As far as the food, I had the steak burger which was flavorful and juicy served with kettle chips but they have multiple side dish offerings. Give it a try...well worth it!
This place is ok. I really didnt get what all the hype was about. Its not great, its not bad either. After my first attempt at eating there being a bust last month, I finally got to try this place. (Last month I walked in at 5 on a Sunday and they said itd be a 2 hour wait because of their reservations). The waitress was kind of lazy and didnt do a very good job of checking on us, refilling our drinks, or asking if we needed anything. It wasnt because she was terribly busy either because several times I saw her just standing in the bar area chatting with the bartender/ barista. The food was good, I recommend the bacon sticks, which are an appetizer, as a dessert. The coffee was the best part of the whole experience although they do not have a coffee bar menu. All in all this restaurant is ok. It doesnt particularly stand out and still has a lot of room for improvement.
I am a picky plain eater and wasnt sure I would like this restaurant. OMG was I wrong. So sorry I waited so long to try since I am now moving out of state. The blueberry moscato wine was delicious. The bacon sticks appetizer is a must. It has a little kick but I enjoyed and would order again. Two of us had the chicken pineapple teriyaki sandwich and one had the dinner rib special. All of us were impressed and loved our meals. Very tasty. What a treasure Newtown has with this restaurant.
Went here on Nov 5 , service was horrible, the food was bad. I got a burger and the meat was so thin you couldnt find it . The fries were extremely greasy, The waitress was horrible, I think she was a manager, which is sad, she should know what she is doing and set an example for fellow employees. Took forever to get our beer, she never checked on us to see if we needed anything else. The food is overpriced for what it is, I could get a better burger at Red Robin. This was just a horrible experiance
Only thing this place has going for it is the cool outdoor seating area. Menu is limited, overpriced, and misleading. Food not at all what was expected and flavorless. Service was lacking and they werent even busy. Our server was too busy with the tablet at the table to actually engage with us. Very disappointed. Wont be back.
Good food. The staff was absolutely terrible. We had our card ran 3 times and they had such confusion with their credit card machine. The owner was unprofessional and accused us of trying to walk out without paying as we were having our card ran a third time. Will never go again
Urban Grill is one of the few restaurants in Cincinnati that I will consistently return to. Their mac and cheese sandwiches are popular for a very good reason. If you come here for one thing, I recommend ordering one of those. Additionally, their specials are unique and delicious. One of the best ways to do this restaurant is to order a couple of different entrees and share them! Theyll give you extra plates and its an easy way to try many things!
Two words: bacon candy. Its incredible and delicious and you will craze it and think about it for days and want to come back. The bartender is wonderful. She remembered us from last time and made us feel special. Dont we all want that? It was also fun watching her work -- shes a beast behind the bar. My only problem is that they are closed Monday AND Tuesday; I often think about my bacon candy fix on Tuesday and get sad.
One of my new favorite spots! The atmosphere is so cool and they plan on opening an outside var patio with a fireplace!! Ive only had 1 not so good thing there, because I think it was more not what I was exlexpect in my mind, so I couldnt get into it. Their main salad with the grilled chicken is so good!!! Their french onion soup is amazing! Their dinner menu changes each couple if days swhich is kind of cool too, so there will always be something new to try!
We were excited to try this new restaurant. We went on a Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm. The parking lot was more than half empty and their were empty tables everywhere. We were told that they were no longer accepting walk ins and only accepting people with reservations. Not only was this rude, it is bad business. You dont turn away customers mid day when you are half empty. Hopefully, the management will take a class in business and learn how to make a business profitable before its too late.
I love coming to this place after a day on the soccer fields just across the road at Clear Creek Park. Seems like a very well-run restaurant. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the food and drink selections have just enough variety while also making me confident that the ingredients are fresh and the chefs know how to prepare them. It has several different indoor and outdoor spaces that all have a different vibe. Ive sat at the high top bar tables with a boisterous group of soccer players and parents, and in the quiet back room for a lunch meeting.
Not a very special place to eat, for what you are paying it is simply not worth it. The owner may look cool on facebook holding exotic fish but that does not make the food or experience better. I am not sure why the male owner is wearing a chef jacket as he is not a chef. The high school workers seem like they are taken advantage of. No worker is able to coherently respond to a question. The deck seems rather large when the indoor dining is so small. What are they going to do in the winter. Chicken was too salty. Gravel rocks hit my car and dented it in the parking lot. Not able to expand menu besides weird fish. No coupons not coming back, going to main street. Why not be apart of burger week, missed opportunity.
The worst experience Ive ever had in a restaurant, all due to the owner/mgr. Wrong meal sent to our table, correct meal finally came 30 minutes after everyone else had finished eating. Server said shed take it off the bill. However, the owner came to our table and refused to allow the server to do so, created loud scene, humiliated the server, repeatedly insulted us, etc., and even made political comments. She was out of control. Will never return.
Terrible place. Sat at our table for 20 mins. And the waitress never said a word to us. She proceeded to go to surrounding table around ours that were seated after us and took there orders and brought them drinks. Again never said one word to us and its a real shame due to this was our first visit and our dinner date. We got up and left to another restraunt who immediately told us they will be with us in a minute, and brought is drinks. The place was even packed and still made us very welcomed.
Night one was a success! It was a little crazy, the bus boys didnt know what table food was to go to, and kitchen didnt communicate with them, our waitress was around sometimes and then vanished the next second. The food took :15 minutes to come out which was good. It was a good first experience and were definitely coming back!
Went on a Sunday around 5pm. No problem being sat - we like sitting at the bar. Best part was the decor - very industrial which I love. Ordered a Burger with pepper jack, jalapeno, red onion, tomato, lettuce and mayo. Japs and red onion not available which I found odd. Thought they were pretty much staples in a restaurant. Burger was over-cooked and dry. Mac and cheese was bland and flavorless. Kettle chips tasted like bagged bulk foodservice ones - not much flavor. The guy next to me asked what cheese was used in the mac and cheese. Have no idea was the answer from the server who then just walked away. Kinda disappointed and probably will not return.
Ive dinned at Urban Grill on Main not once, but twice. Both experiences were horrible. My first visit, I had to wait an unbelievably long time just to get a table. They sat us in an isolated room, which was very cold. While we sat down, a woman asked us if we wanted any heat, which I thought was a strange thing to ask your customer. Wouldnt you keep your rooms at a bearable and cozy temperature. Not long after she turned on the heater, it soon became very, very hot and the noise from the heater became distracting. I came without of town family, and I couldnt even hear them from two feet away from me. We tried to get over the heater incident but things became worse and worse. Our waitress brought out three meals (there were four of us). It took them around ten minutes to even realize that we were missing a meal, and I dont know if they even would have noticed, if we had not said something. Our waitress never checked on us, so we had to ask a young man, who was obviously not a waiter, who was cleaning down a table. The young man seemed to do his best to fix the problem and got our waitress to figure out the problem. When we ended up getting the last meal, it was wrong. They put ketchup, lettuce, and pickles when I asked for none of that and only mayo. So we deiced not to come back until recently. We figured they had a rough night and their food was alright, but not for the price, but we deiced to give them another chance. We got seated a lot faster than our first time at the restaurant, so things looked promising, that is before we met our waitress. This lady was short, looked like she was wearing colored contacts and looked like she had plastic surgery. I dont usually base people of their looks but she looked trashy if I do say so myself. She had a very annoying laugh, and would often talk to the other tables for an abnormal amount of time, ignoring the fact that we needed refills. She was obviously our waitress, but a different young man, most likely the same job position as the other young man took care of us, and made sure we needed anything else after hed brought us our food. We needed more mayo, ketchup, and other condiments and the young man brought us these quite quickly. He never checked on us, but appeared to clean, so Im not even sure he was supposed to get our condiment or our waitress was supposed to. All in all, Your waitresses suck, you food is alright but not for the price, your management needs work, the building is wayyyy to small, and I will defiantly not be coming back to the Urban Grill on Main, and I recommend others to pass on this corrupt establishment.

2021-08-29Tried for the first time tonight. We had excellent service from Sue seated in the Ark section. My husband loved the bacon jelly and goat cheese on toast. The sandwiches were enormous and well worth the money. We will definitely be back as we highly recommend.

2022-04-10Urban Grill has a fantastic vibe. The food is delicious. Everything is delicious! The servers are amazing and attentive. I have had Tony and Jennifer many times. They are just top notch. Tony spoke highly about working at this restaurant. That speaks volumes.I also happened to be in the bathroom with a grill person - just noticed the back of the shirt. She used impeccable sanitation practices… turn off water with back of her hand and opened the door with her arm. I didn’t really think about it until later but well done. 👏👏

2022-03-25Our daughter and son-in-law took us out for my birthday. Went around 4:30 on a weekday. Not crowded. Free parking. Great food. Interesting beer and wine selection. Greater service. A bit pricey...but it was a special occasion. (And they were paying 🤣) Well go back.

2022-08-20We ordered drinks and an appetizer. We told the server that we wanted to go ahead and place our dinner order as well. We asked for a salad and the server told us they hadn’t had that specific salad in years. She asked if we were using an outdated menu. We told her we scanned the QR code at the door. She said “Oh. They didn’t tell us we had that.” No apology for being rude. We then asked for a side of chicken due to dietary restrictions (6 weeks post op bariatric surgery). She immediately said “No, we won’t do that” and was not willing to even find out why we made the request. We got our drinks (water and one soda). Decided to leave and my husband told the ladies at the front that we were leaving and had not gotten our appetizer yet. They said that it was fine and they’d let them know we were leaving.Oh wait, it gets better! We get to the car and a lady chases us down before we leave the parking lot. She asked if we ordered an app, we told her yes but they were unwilling to accommodate the dietary needs so we decided to leave. She told us that once we order an appetizer that it is ours. (Is that a law in Ohio?) Well, we didn’t even get it. She also doesn’t apologize for being rude. She starts to walk away and stops to take a picture of our license plate!!!!! I asked her to delete it and she ignored us. She then made a phone call while continuing to ignore us while trying to talk to her. I’m pretty sure she called the cops on us for not paying for an app that we didn’t get. The level of rudeness was appalling!

2020-10-30We had a wonderful family dinner here! Portion sizes are large! Service was perfect and everyone enjoyed their food. We loved the atmosphere of the “outdoor” but enclosed dining. We were warm under heaters. Great sandwiches and burgers and beer. We will definitely be back!

2022-07-30Great food and outside dining! Really is a hidden gem. I am sad that I just discovered this place myself. If you want upscale, yet laid back, dining and something different then you should definitely give Urban Grill a try!

2022-04-02This place is slamming! The bacon sticks were great, cocktails are reasonably priced and who doesnt want mocha bread pudding? 10/10 recommend.

2022-03-11I had the grouper sandwich and it was ok, my wife had the burger, and it was really dry. Both kids got the chicken tenders, one with fries and the other with salad. None of us liked the chicken, the fries were ok, my daughter did like the salad. The service was slow and we felt the food was overpriced. We also dont think we were charged correctly. All the food looked nice but just did taste very good.
