University Village in other cities:
I love living at University Village, everything is really neat and orderly in the entire process of signing on, the apartments are in great condition, and the leasing agents are great! I was working with Olivia and even if I have questions now, she’s super quick and answers them really fast- she also gives the best answers to any follow up questions I have and handles all my problems perfectly!
It is pretty nice living here. The rooms are clean. Hot water is available for 24 hours. The environment is also beautiful for both people and pets. Once something is out of order in the apartment, the maintenance will come to repair in a shor time. If the boiler system works better, it deserves 5 stars.
If I could give 0 stars I most definitely would.PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT ever rent an apartment at University Village . This is the 7th time I’ve had to have emergency maintenance come to my apartment for a plumbing issue late at night. Every time this happens I call emergency maintenance, document, and speak to the manager the next day. I am so so disappointed in this place I tried to call home. I’ve told them several times the plumbing in my building needs to be addressed and they either keep putting it off or ignoring me and I’m done being ignored. School is hard enough as is and I should not be having to deal with plumbing issues like this. I don’t know what else to do right now but to share my frustration in hopes that nobody else will make the mistake of renting here ☹️Everytime the upstairs neighbor takes a shower for a long time the dirty water backs up into my toilet & shower. this can’t be safe and is so gross I can’t even begin to explain how disgusting I feel living here. Their solution was to tell him to use less soap.
My boyfriend was visiting me at University Village apartments. UV gives out parking passes for guests, but told me last week I do not need one if the guest is staying less than 24 hours. After my boyfriend was there for 3 hours, we could not find his car anywhere. Apparently, this “business” they use to tow (Complete Impound & Recovery) patrols when they need money when their employer (UV apartments) did not request this at all. There were more than 50 available spots in the three closest lots, yet they towed him. Absolutely disgusting business behaviors. For further information, he arrived at 7:45pm when the leasing office was already closed (I couldn’t have gotten him a pass if I had wanted to), and he went out to the parking lot around 10:30pm. Absolutely unacceptable. As an employer, I would not advise using this service. I now look down on University Village and will seriously be reconsidering renewing my lease.
I recently had a very pleasant experience while touring an apartment for my daughter. Mike Reynolds showed us 3 different models and was very thorough in providing apartment information, and all the amenities UV has to offer. I appreciate his patience and professionalism in answering my many questions. A very positive experience, and top of the list of places for my daughter to live.
I just signed the lease and I have been asking a lot of questions to determine if the apartment is a good fit. Although the communication was via email, it was quick and to the point. Sam and Mike are very helpful! Sam have been assisting me thorough the entire process the past few weeks and was absolutely accomodating. The communication is very good!!
I found this place from a friend. As i continued with the process of moving in, i found it very frustrating. my portal would say my rent is not what the agreed among amount is. UV asks for requested perks like a certain floor, being by a bus stop or by a dog park. my roommate and i put ours in and we got none of them. The front desk person said that she was even upset that we did not even get one our perks we asked for. I am hoping my experience with them increasing with all of their amenities they offer.
I took a tour around the property with my brother not too long ago and was very pleased, the leasing consultants, asha, sam, Jonathan, Olivia and Anna were very helpful even though we had so many questions. The managers Molly and Aledria were very patient and understanding as well and even helped me out on their day off
The RLC is never clean and isn’t up to the standards I would expect for how much the rent is. The coffee machine is almost never working and the gym that is supposed to be 24 hours never lets me in after 10pm. Management will take every opportunity to charge you for the smallest things, even $50 for a lost parking pass. Maintenance takes forever, I had a work order in for 2 months and they still never came and fixed the issue. Things break in the apartments all the time due to the buildings being so old and I have had too many issues to count in my short time here. The leasing agents were nice, and other than the managers they all seem like pleasant people. I would recommend that if you are looking for a good college apartment that you stay away from this complex. Homestead Properties clearly only cares about their profit and not the experience of their residents.
I’m attending OSU and I was looking for a quality place to stay. After visiting university village I didn’t need to continue that search. It’s a safe, high quality, and affordable option. One of the workers name Willem showed me a couple options and made sure I was happy with the apartment before I signed all the forms. Overall a great experience and it’s been a great place to live. I don’t usually give reviews, but Willem is definitely 5 stars.
Overall, it might be a good apartment if it is a LOT cheaper as it used to be. I liked its location - it used to be close to Kroger and convenient, now less attractive due to the closing of many stores.I guess the shuttle is of some value if you attend the university and dont have a car. However, you can find better options in the walking range of the university. There are hidden costs: They charge you a mandatory 200/person/year for the shuttle. They charge 180 or so/mo for gas/trash. Rent increased when the market is good but not lowered during COVID.Other than pricing, the appliances are old and unreliable, and it takes forever for the maintenance to fix even basic things like the drain. They tell you that you should buy a plunger and clean the range hood filter yourself. We must have filed 1000 requests for fixing our faucets, and it still keeps breaking. The refrigerator was leaking. The window is small and air circulation VERY bad, the A/C loud, they did this light filtering upgrade, and you lose half the sunlight and cannot even see outside without looking at your reflection. The shower is leaking. A few years ago, they replaced the shower nozzle to save water, and the already bad water pressure was reduced even more. The temperature is so unreliable that I was almost boiled a few times. We realized the temperature changes whenever someone in the building uses water, so we came up with this hack that if you are leaving the basin faucet running, youll at least not be burned with soap all over yourself. Sorry Earth. And the overall environment is not that good to begin with and rapidly degrading. The dogs*t photos were taken from one single walk around the buildings, and I did not even try that hard. The trash is constantly overflowing, and youll see a notice that if you throw trash around, youll be fined. - the problem is it is a little bit hard dragging trash across the entire buildings, so I can relate to the people. Oh, and packages were lost frequently, and they would suggest you contact the shipper as they cannot do anything about it.Well. Moving is expensive in time and money, but I do regret not moving out early. Guess being an overworked graduate student, you dont have a lot of choices. This is only my experience, of course. My advice? Compare more - there are more options than you think.
Great option to live if you want to be close to OSU. They offer a shuttle to go to campus and have a nice gym and pool. Common areas are good and several events are organized by them for the residents. I just took a star from it because my living room AC was never fixed even though it was asked several times. Besides that issue maintenance always responded pretty quickly.
Not worth it for a one bedroom at all. Paid almost $1,000 a month for an apartment that was totally different in quality from the one I had toured. There was frequently a smell of mold and bugs, with frequently having maintenance coming in to exterminate. There is a good chance any person you have over will be towed and there is really no guest parking. Do not recommend unless you have multiple roommates for cheap rent.
UV is a good and safe place to live! I am living here for four years and I love here. The price is cheap and the apartment is good. The maintenance service is quick and you can simply submit your maintenance order through their website which is very convenient. They also have many awesome activities like movie night.
All in all, I had a awesome experience working with the uv leasing staff. I had a ton of issues and a ton of confusion with my whole sublease process but they were able to take the time and walk me through the whole thing. Mike and Asha were extremely helpful in helping me understand what was going on, and Jon and Anna spent hours in the phone with me. Shout out to Sam too for running back and forth from the office 100 times for me! and thank you to aledria and molly for taking the time to reassure me that everything was okay. Also, Thank you Olivia for helping me with the move out forms i thought that was going to be way more awkward👏🏻🙏🏽(Stan or Annell better clean that machineeeeeeeeeee)
Lived there for a year and will never go back. Firstly, they have no cameras & someone stole my roommates car out of their parking lot in the middle of the night. Second, people will walk up and down the street and slash everyone’s tires for fun. Also, university village locked me out of my own apartment and wouldn’t let me back in, so I had to climb through the window of a second story building. If a door is unlocked when you go in someone’s apartment for an inspection, LEAVE IT UNLOCKED. Lastly, they have the absolute worst service and the workers are always ignorant and don’t care about the residents. After you sign that lease, they will bill you for the most random things and drain you out of everything you have. If you care about your safety and want to be treated like a human being, I do not recommend university village.
I would give one star, but I loved Anna when she did my tour. She was so nice and very helpful. But ever since my roommates and I needed to switch from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom, it’s like the managers have no idea what’s going on. I understand being understaffed but I have no idea where my unit is and I move in a week. I’ve been emailing and calling, and whenever someone answers the phone, they say they saw my email, but do not respond. I find that so unprofessional and rude. I haven’t even moved in yet and I’ve already had to complain multiple times, I hope this is the last.
Very responsive management; apartments attractive, functional. As were overseas its very reassuring to know our college student is in a good apartment in Columbus. Kudos in particular to staff T. Lusk for providing exemplary customer service. Love the new center w/fitness area and computer areas - sets you way apart from the competition.
Best value for your money near OSU! Its nice to find a place that is close to campus but just far enough away to enjoy some quiet & green space. The buses make it very convenient to get to campus. And the office staff is great! Very helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
Started off great but then all of the staff changed & a new manager came in. He is WORTHLESS! If you notice, all of the 5 star reviews mention certain names of employees. It is because they are friends of people that work there or they work there themselves. Do not believe anything they say! They are cheap apartments for a reason so if you dont mind bugs, dirty apartments, noise & taking a bus that breaks down often to campus, then by all means... sign up! But if not, there are far better options closer to campus.
As a current resident I have been facing issues related to repeated pest treatment for last 5 months where the apartment asks us to stay away for a day. Not work from home friendly. Recently those guys even opened my closet without seeking my permission where I had left my documents. Worst choice ever made to sign my lease here. If ever there was an option I would give 0 rating
I have lived for a year at UV and had an amazing experience so far. The apartments are great quality and affordable with shuttles to campus and Kroger. Some other benefits that are really liked are:- Access to high quality gym and life center- Frequent social events and trips- Really polite and helpful staff
If I were you, Id look elsewhere to live. In my experience, maintenance is slow to respond to issues that arise. I currently have not had AC in my living room since May 24th, 2021. I have called the maintenance department on at least 3-5 different occasions since then to try and get the process started to get my AC unit replaced and get an update on where things were at. The person answering the phones seems to want to get you off the line as quickly as possible and seems rude. With this AC situation, I continue to get the run-around and haven’t received any updates. Last week on June 1st, I was told my AC unit would be looked at within the week. For the money you’d spend living here you could find a better experience in the area. As a resident, Im very disappointed with how Ive been treated and will look elsewhere when my lease expires.
This review is simply a list of all the problems we had (that I can remember) over the course of a one-year lease. Some arent the fault of UV, but its the experience youre going to get. Note that all this happened in a newly-renovated unit, which mean I paid extra for this :)Upon move-in:- Apartment completely flooded- Keys to our door didnt work- Oven didnt have the outer glass- Range hood wasnt wired- No fire extinguisher- Bathtub faucet sprayed back against the wall- Fridge doors were install backwards- Two drawers didnt have knobs- Several doors were falling apart/wouldnt fit in the frame- Paint was peeling all over the bathroom- Bathtub was such a mess they had to repaint itAfter move-in:- Heat wouldnt work in the winter- Toilet backed up for days with no alternate bathroom given- I had to submit the same maintenance request 3 times because our bathtub wouldn’t drain and grime, water, and bubbles from people showering above us was coming out of our drain- Dumpster caugh on fire (lol)- Maintenance wouldnt salt sidewalks, I watched many people, including myself, fall- Residents would walk their dogs RIGHT up to our windows and even let them jump on the screen- Shower head cracked during a shower and sprayed water everywhere- Towel bar in the bathroom fell off the wall- Ceiling fan was loose and ended up causing a lightbulb to explode- Both sinks had leaks that led to mold which was never treated- Rats were spotted outside in broad daylight- Dog park isnt maintained at all, owners didnt pick up after the dogs and the people from the apartment wouldnt do anything about it- Saving the craziest for last: someone drove a moving truck through the power lines, caught one of the buildings on fire and took out the power for the day
My daughter just moved in & IT IS TERRIBLE! The apartment was not clean at move in, the manager in the office was not pleasant at all, the hallways are dirty, it is overpriced and no one ever seems to know what is going on. There are much better places to live. I cannot wait for my daughter to move out!
Thus far, I think I am probably living in the most amazing and student-friendly complex apartment in Columbus. Since I moved here, University Village has been incredibly responsive and accommodating. What I like the most here are all the amenities, especially the gym. As an international student, I hope to benefit from the opportunity to interact with people from various backgrounds during some of the social events organized by University Village.
I wish I could give this a zero. Do NOT move here!! Overpriced with dishonest staff. A 6 month lease turned into 7. If you live 15 days out of the last month, rent is not pro-rated. You are charged full monthly rental fees. Let’s not get me started on maintenance. Also, the walls are thin. If the neighbor flushes the toilet, you hear. Units are boxed like. For this price, I recommend The Canterbury across the street or The Quarry in Grandview. Worst rental experience I’ve ever had.The Management does not care about your thoughts. They then troll reviews and recommend you “contact then to discuss concerns.” Do NOT move here!Per below review from “Management”...I spoke with your office numerous times. The Public should be aware nothing will change.
Ive had a great experience with University Village. Move-in was well organized, and the apartment had been thoroughly cleaned prior to my move-in date. The office staff is friendly and always willing to answer any questions. One of the greatest amenities is the new Resident Life Center. It is well maintained, and it is open 24 hours, which is very convenient. In addition, the shuttle serve they provide to and from campus was one of the main reasons for my choosing to live here. I would recommend UV to any student looking to be close to OSU campus, but not right in the middle of all the action.
Overall great community. Ive been here since July and any issues Ive had maintenance has come and fixed them nearly right away and the leasing office is very accommodating in working to making sure that Ive had the best living experience. The location is one of th best in Columbus, the Krogers is extremely close by and campus is in walking distance. The shuttle system thats included is very useful and Ive used it many times to get to and from campus and have never waited long for the bus. The brand new resident life center is beautiful and very clean and nice.
I have lived at university village for the past couple of years and I have loved it! The staff is friendly and helpful and maintenance has always came and fixed any problems within 24 hours. The apartments are clean and the area is very safe and quiet. The best part about UV is the amenities such as the shuttles to OSU and all of the parties they throw. The new resident life center is absolutely beautiful and is a great place to hang out at and study.
My apartment is great... the bathroom could be updated but other than that i cannot complain! The apartment complex always has something fun going on and offers a lot of free things to do for their residents.. the pool, gym, study area, and the people who work there are great. I resigned my lease too for next year! Great place to live if you want to be close to campus but not pay crazy high rent!
The location and quiet neighborhood is great since it is only 2 miles from OSU! The busses are a great money saver to get to and from school. The gym is small but has a little bit of everything you need. The staff is very friendly. Just know that they keep up on what you can see from the outside, but these are older buildings and there will be internal fixes needed throughout your stay. Maintenance does good work, but just keep up on maintenance requests as they are very busy and understaffed.
I moved here this past summer and love it so much, Ive already renewed my lease for next year. This apartment has so many perks. The apartment is decent and the new resident life center provides a 24 hour hour well-equipped gym, free coffee and printing, and awesome tailgate parties. Even better, this place is well located with a Kroger nearby and frequent bus service to campus. Very convenient!
I have been living here for 2 years . Its a great place to live in . The environment is very natural and peaceful. Its very convenient since there are some supermarkets nearby. I can take shuttles to the campus. Its a great option if you dont have a vehicle. The majority of neighbors are students, so the atmosphere is quiet. For those of you who are foreigners, its the best choice to live in university-village.
I would give it a 0/5 if I could. The maintenance has been horrible since I’ve moved in. It took them months just to come into my apartment and fix the countless issues that we’ve had. The towing policy is ridiculous and I don’t see how this fraudulent business is still up and running. I wouldn’t even consider living here, there’s much more appealing apartments in Columbus, especially near OSU.
I just recently moved out of University Village after living there for 5 months. Overall, I thought the complex is well organized: the buses run on time; the staff are generally good at replying back emails; and the fitness center is decent. My only issue is with the value you get for the money. The rent is high (and the utilities are unreasonably high), perhaps due to the proximity of the complex to the Ohio State. The amenities are not that great. I did not have a washer/dryer in the building (let alone in unit). I had to walk across the parking lot to the maintenance building to do laundry. The walls are paper thin (lacking privacy) and you can totally hear people in the adjacent unit talking. There was a large gap next to my air conditioning unit which acted as a natural vent to the outside world. The residents in the basement were using the shared space for storing furniture and sometime for trash bags, perhaps because the trash disposal was quite a walk.As far as I can tell, the value of the complex is in the location and the shuttle to and from OSU. If you are looking for more, there are many other places around campus.
The neighborhood is peaceful and the apartments are clean, spacious, and offered at an affordable rate. A huge bonus was that the staff have always been friendly and helpful. Also, the apartment was extremely easy to bunny-proof for my rabbit - for that I would have given UV an extra star if I wasnt limited to 5.
UV is the lovely place to cal home...😄😄😄. Love all the new apartments. New resident life center, Pool and gym is very convenient and good. Appreciable shuttle services with friendly drivers. Very good models to suit individual needs. No complaints. Maintenance responds well. Been here a year. Plan to stay for a couple more years.
Rent is decent, maintenance is slow but will eventually fix things. Had a bat fly into our apartment many days in a row before they got it out of the boiler room. For a year, upstairs tenants would take apart their sink and flood their bathroom, resulting in weekly leaks and collapsed ceiling tiles for us. Why they never did anything about that will continue to boggle me. Dont expect much, but the bus line is decent most of the time and its in a relatively safe area.
Living in the maintenance department building is such a terrible experience for residents. The maintenance workers are too loud and disruptive for indoor studying, as well goes for the buses. MAINTENANCE WORKERS ARE SO LOUD SLAMMING THE OUTSIDE DOORS LITERALLY EVERY 4-6 SECONDS FROM MONDAY - FRIDAY 7AM-6PM. DO NOT MOVE HERE IF YOURE LOOKING FOR PEACE & QUIET
I like this place. I have lived here for 2 years and I never met the safety problem. People are nice. Convenient shuttle to the campus of the Ohio State University. However, the building is too old, room is unfurnished so you have buy the bed yourself. You maybe hear the noise from your neighbor easily. So it is a good place as apartment. But you should base on your need. A quiet place to sleep or a safe place to live?
Overall, I really enjoyed my two years at UV. After my first year I had to move from a two bedroom to a studio because of a roommate situation, and they made sure my new apartment was just one door down from my old one so that we wouldnt have to move stuff too far. Maintenance was always extremely fast - if I put in a work order during business hours, they would often arrive within the hour and were always really friendly and efficient. The new gym is really nice and I love that its open 24 hours. The only things I disliked about living here were the shuttle drivers and the faucets. My first year (2015-2016), the drivers were all really friendly and timely, always said hello, etc. My second year (2016-2017), they seem to have changed many of the drivers - a few of the old ones were still there, but it was mostly new drivers and many of them were extremely rude and often five to ten minutes late. Multiple times, I had a driver refuse to let me board the bus or snap at me even when I had my ID ready. I emailed management about the bus drivers and they got a little better, but still nowhere near as great as they were last year. I even heard them complaining about residents on the bus radio a few times. Wilbur and Dan, however, are always really kind. The new water-efficient faucets are awful. The water pressure in the shower is so low that youll be shivering the entire time in the winter - theres barely more than a trickle. The sink faucets now splatter everywhere so that after youre done washing your hands or your dishes, you have to change your shirt and wipe a lake of water off the countertops. If you live here and bring a bike, I would strongly recommend keeping it inside your apartment. They have bike racks, but I had both my wheels stolen and my bike lock cut on two different occasions - the propertys proximity to a not-great neighborhood of Columbus makes it a little dangerous to keep a bike outside.I also have to add that Brent in the leasing office is amazing. I was a music major, and one day I accidentally forgot my $15,000 flute on the shuttle. I didnt realize I had lost it until 24 hours later, and Brent made sure the buses were quickly searched and the flute was returned back to me within an hour of me realizing it was gone. Overall, this was a really great place to live with really friendly people. Quiet, convenient, and clean.
Do not rent from this apartment company. They trick you by showing a model that is nice and promised you a suitable unit at the time of signing the lease. And they told you that you have to sign the lease before knowing which apartment you are getting and you cannot see the apartment before you sign the lease. SCAM!Also they are in violation of fair housing act. The leasing staff told me there are MANY vacant 1 BR apartments and gave me a list of those. When I was talking to the manager, she told me that We do not have any other 3rd floor options available other this unit that we have assigned you. And when I talked to another manager, she told me While we do have other 1 bedrooms vacant, they are simply not ready, nor are they scheduled to be ready any time in the near future. And when I asked for the vacancy list for 1BR apartment, they refused to do so. And they refuse to negotiate. They are in violation of fair housing act by delibrately withholding/misrepresenting information about available housing, Refusal to negotiate for housing, Making housing unavailable, Falsely denying that housing is available for rental when it is actually available and etc.
Good for temporary (semester long) stay.Shuttle bus, Gym and computer room facilities were very good. But the most important point - the apartments arent that good. Very old, and have small windows (not much lighting)However, felt mostly safe in the areaFar away from mostly everything else on campus and north high street.Never had the chance to deal with maintainence. The monthly trips, movie screenings etc are good and are organized well (with bus service)
I lived there for about 7 months, and had a great experience. Maintenance was so very helpful and quick to fix the issues we had. I unfortunately had to make a decision to sublease the apartment, and although our situation was messy and not the easiest with my roomie, the leasing office did the best job they could to help us out and make it work. They dealt with our high emotions and multiple emails and phone calls, and I am so very thankful for them. The new resident life center is amazing and the gym being 24 hours was so convenient. I always felt so safe and my belongings were never in any danger either. I highly recommend this apartment complex to anybody looking. From somebody who works full time and goes to school full time, this was such a great place for me to be while I needed it.
My time here has been relatively decent, especially being that Ive been doing online classes since august (2020-2021). I have had some issues with heat as in my apartment gets too hot but that can be more attributed to the season and location of my apartment specifically plus amount of equipment that generates heat.
Do not move here! They will squeeze every penny out of you. Maintenance is slow, put orders in and 2 weeks later they only fixed 1 of 3 problems! They do nothing about loud neighbors. Hallway in apartment is constantly trashed because of mail and packages. Hallway smells of garbage constantly! The only good thing they have to offer is the gym.
I have had a great experience with UV thus far and plan to renew my lease for next year. All of the staff in both the leasing office and maintenance have been very helpful and pleasant when I have needed to ask questions or have needed things fixed in my apartment. Overall, I am very happy with UV!
PROS:I did a lot of research prior to moving here. UV was the best option for me because:- it is walking distance to both COTA and CABS, as well as has their own shuttle service-It has air conditioning (2 wall units in my place and a ceiling fan)-It has a lot of resident parking and a good amount of visitor parking- The amount of complaints regarding bugs or structure issues was low (I dont have these issues and neither does anyone I know who does live here or ever has lived here)-The safety is nice, if you research the crime rate in Columbus, UV stays in a green area, and both your door and the door to your building lock, with a good amount of exterior lighting at night-If you actually do the math and compare the price per square foot of UV to other apartments in the area, it is either the same or lower, especially considering things such as the shuttle and the pool. Their square footage is listed on the website, and their bedroom B is more than enough space for 1 person.-they dont force you to buy Internet or cable, its up to you if you want it-I am really impressed with the management at UV, I had a lot of requests prior to moving in (needing it to be early, wanted an updated place, only being willing to take one type of bedroom, wanting to be close to my friends, etc.) and they were able to accommodate all of them.-its more marketed to a younger crowd but kind of has a family feel to the place, so I think it would be fine for someone of any age to live here. There arent going to be house parties but for those of us who value sleep and a degree, thats good news :)-I consider it walking distance to the Shoe which is pretty much walking distance to campus, but not all people would consider it that- I think it takes me about 35 minutes. Not ideal all of the time but not bad in emergencies.-Kroger is next door for people who dont have carsCONS:I recently had a noise complaint and management assisted me with that. With some issues, such as noise, I know that the manager/landlord cant always fix the issue but for them to reach out to me and try was enough for me. That gives me peace of mind that they would help with other issues, should they arise. I think we have all experienced landlords who barely help with big problems, and would completely ignore a noise complaint considering Columbus is in high demand for living space and they could easily replace you, so it felt nice that UV actually tried to help. I dont know if they will be able to fix it, so I would still probably suggest that people who are sensitive to noise should get a 3rd floor apartment, but I think it would be situational as to how loud your neighbors were, as it is any place you rent. Conclusion:In total this is a good place to live, if you actually drive through it, its adorable and would be an ideal place that a parent would want their college student to live in a big city. You save some money by living here and for me, that was important. I would highly recommend this place to people who work at the medical center like I do, because this is walking distance to the buckeye lots.
Its a very welcoming community! Very pet friendly! The bus system is super easy to figure out and is extremely convenient being an OSU student. I love the location as its off campus but not too far away. The resident life center has a nice gym and is a good place to come and work on homework or projects.
Living in UV for almost 3 years during my undergraduate time, I have to say I enjoyed living here. Its a really good option for students with a monthly housing budget under $700. There are free shuttles to and from OSU campus so it would be very convenient if you dont have a car. Sometimes during weekends, there will be shuttles taking you to and from the nearby Asian supermarkets, free of charge. Newly built fitness and life center is huge and awesome. There is also a swimming pool opens during summers with once-a-week event. The maintenance team is always responding promptly for the requests. The only reason I would like to move out is that there is no hook for washers and driers in the apt, and Im not a fan of public laundry room.
I really enjoy living at university village! They have so many great amenities, maintenance is always fast and the staff is always helpful and friendly! The new resident life center is awesome. It has free printing, coffee and an awesome workout room! I would definitely recommend UV!
Ive lived here for about two years. This honestly feels like the safest place to live while earning my degree at The Ohio State University. It is fun and all the staff and residents are very friendly! The village has a lot to offer; the 24/7 fitness center is great especially when you like to workout really early, the study rooms are a nice addition and I nice quiet getaway, the buses saved me a bunch of money from not having to buy parking passes, and the events are fun to get out and meet new people!
I live in UV for two months. It is very happy to live here, because UV provides very good and warm services which let me to feel at home. There are some traffic inconveniences during weekends. It will be better to advance the shuttle leaving time during weekend, like from 9am to 9pm (every 2 hours).
A very nice apartment especially for the price. Buildings have some signs of age (leaky faucet, multiple layers of paint with cracks, etc.) But overall a very good deal. For OSU students the bus system is also very convenient and dependable.EDITSo after living here a year I am less thrilled with UV. Before moving in we were promised new carpet, and while we have had that new carpet it was installed the day we moved in. A few hours after we checked in and had begun actually moving in some workers arrived to install the carpet, meaning we had to move our things we had already brought in around where they were working and wait to finish moving in. UV sought to remedy this by pro-rating our first day and offering gift cards for our troubles. The only issue with that is that we never received any sort of pro-rate on our account, and while gift cards are nice this kind of issue was a sign of things to come. Our newly renovated bathroom was in fact never renovated at all, we found this out when one of the lights went out and we asked maintenance to replace it. The workers casually mentioned how our bathroom was the wrong color and that the toilet/sink/shower all appeared to be the wrong color for the bathroom to have been renovated. We were then told just prior to the summer that our bathroom would be renovated at some point during the summer, but have never heard anything since. This oversight lead to the most recent debacle as one of the ceiling tiles in the bathroom collapsed overnight due to a leak coming from the apartment above ours. From where the tile collapsed we can see massive water damage and suspect this leak has been slowly working its way into our bathroom for some time, an issue Im sure would have been found and fixed had the bathroom been properly renovated. To top this all off one of my roommates was towed from the lot, with a new car and a temporary tag they registered their car and received a parking sticker. After receiving the permanent tag for the car they had forgotten to update UV and working night shift did not see it as an urgent priority as they still had a parking sticker issued by UV easily visible on their windshield. This however did not stop a UV employee from having it towed from a parking lot that was no where close to full. Upon bringing this up to the leasing office they insisted that the issue was not the fault of a lazy employee who failed to check for a UV sticker, but instead my roommates fault as they had not updated their plate information. The apartment itself was nice enough but these incompetencies have ruined the experience for us.
The apartments that were shown to me were nothing like the one that I received. When I moved in, my heating unit was off the wall, there was glass in my garbage disposal, mold under my sink, and more. I cannot stress how many inconveniences have come up throughout the time I have been here. However, there is still much to be done. For instance, the heating unit is still broken even though maintenance said they fixed it. Same with my air conditioning. The Nicklaus floor plan online should be updated as well, as does not fit the furniture that is displayed. I have recommended so many people to look elsewhere, and they said that theyve heard nothing but awful reviews, too. The buildings are very old, too - my neighbors ceilings started experiencing flooding today! I am moving out in July and I couldnt be happier.
I lived in there for one semester. To be honest, I will not recommend people to live there. Rental fees are relatively high compared to apartments like UV. The management are rude as what the previous people said. There is a guy in the management team who can speak Chinese. One time I heard him arguing against another person. How could he be so rude?! Besides, you can clearly hear what your roommate is doing(if you have) or your neighbors are doing. So if they have a party or are listening music without an earphone, it will be horrible. But UV also has its advantages, it has shuttle buses that can go to campus area and the Kroger outside the estate is really convenient. So UV may be a good place for the newcomers. After one semester, I subleased my apartment, moved out and found another apartment near my college. The rental fees are almost the same as those in UV but the rooms are about 1.5 times larger than rooms in UV. And now I walk to class. I also got the news that UV is going to raise its rentals. I do not what the management are thinking. Maybe they think that some fools will always come no matter how high the rentals are. What a crazy world!
When we first moved here everything went pretty great. We enjoyed the fact it was close to campus and I really liked the weight room. Then they had to move us towards the end of our first leas (which was fine they were going to do construction in that building). But once we moved into the other apartment we have had a lot of issues. Our sink would spew out water almost every other month and it would take maintenance forever to respond to get it fix. Mind you it is all over the kitchen floor and the third time it happened it was behind our couch in the living room... We also had our fridge go out due the circuit on that wall not being any good. This also took a few hours for them to show up an fix. They promised they would send someone in to help clean the carpet up to help with the smell the water l myeft and we have had no sign of this being done. We resorted to spraying febreze on the carpet. To add to this post if you want to be treated like you are in kindergarten and not an actual adult then live here! Im a pretty calm person but this place is a joke!
Very friendly people here. I was pretty stressed out before moving in and had a very present experience. The apartments are very nice and good quality, and the resident life center and gym are super convenient and great places to spend some down time. Id recommend University Village to anyone looking for an awesome rental experience in Columbus!
The price is right for the location, but youre primarily paying for location. The apartments are okay, but the walls and floors are the thinnest of any of the apartments I have been in. I lived in two different units over the course of 2 years: one 3 bedroom and one 2 bedroom (both renovated). Generally speaking, the office reps and maintenance were very helpful, though moving in to the apartments always presented issues like discolored carpet, incredibly sticky cabinets, a toilet leaking out of the bottom onto the floor, and sticky/dirty countertops. I never had an issue with maintenance as they would always come promptly to fix any issues, though issues like the toilet plagued us off and on for the duration of the lease. Something that was very annoying is the occasionally short notice for water shutoff or pest control schedules. I dont exactly know what the issue is with this, but many times, Id arrive at my apartment at 8pm or 9pm when there would be no notice on my door. The next morning Id wake up for class around 9am-9:30am and find that I cant take a shower because the water is turned off, so I walk out to my door and check for a notice, and sure enough, one was placed there between 8pm the night before and 9am that morning. A moderate annoyance, but nothing extreme really. What is extreme is the gouging they do on your security deposit. Over the course of my two years there, we were charged $225 out of our deposit for damages that I was entirely unaware of as I cleaned the apartments before leaving. Keep in mind that I have never lost anything out of my deposit at any of my previous apartments outside of UV, and take extreme care of everything. I drive a 20 year old car that looks brand new. I was always the last one to leave the apartments and never saw anything that would warrant even close to what they charged out of our deposit. Not to mention I would always spend hours cleaning after moving all of the stuff out of the apartment. I dont know if were actually being charged for another apartment by mistake or if maintenance is just going in there and wrecking the place after we move out, but the charges are well outside of reasonable. After losing the money out of the first apartment deposit, I made sure to take extra care moving out of the second apartment and still lost over 75% of the deposit in damages. My mistake was that I didnt take pictures when I left, so I cant prove that the damages werent there, but quite frankly, its ridiculous. I wouldnt be writing this if I thought the charges were even remotely justified. Overall, good place to stay if youre a student as the busing service is a godsend, just watch out for any minor damages that may not be apparent or dont expect to get your deposit back.
Maintenance is slow. The walls are not well insulated so you can hear your neighbors every move. My unit was not well cleaned. The carpets were still wet when I moved in. Within a month of moving in, I learned that there was a pest problem in the unit. Ceiling in living room is stained and floor boards were broken. I hope I will not have to pay for this damage because the unit came like this. Also laundry is super expensive. The machines never work. And my biggest complaint is the lack of a dishwasher. If I could redo this again, I would not live in UV ever again.EDIT: I noticed the mold on the ceiling the day before I moved out. The black spots were there when we moved in. We put in a maintenance request when we moved in. Maintenance decided to put in a SMOKE DETECTOR to hide the problem. That isnt FIXING the problem.
The staff is kind and responsive. The new resident life center is great! You have free Starbucks coffee and hot chocolate, you can play pool table, the study rooms also have a great view and are quiet. I should also mention that the interior design of the center is eye-catching.I live in one of the UP apartments with my wife. It is furnished and pretty new. However, it might be a bit small for a couple life (around 416 sqft).
One of the worst apartment complexes for your money. I have a studio apartment that is tiny and under the stairs that is $741 a month without utilities. Our window A/C barely works, the heater didnt work, our toilet was leaking 4 or 5x even after maintenance fixed it. Our door knob stopped working and we actually got locked in our apartment and ended up missing classes at one point. The laundromat is $1.25 for a small washer then another $1.25 for a drier. Sometimes they end up not working properly and you have to wash or dry more than once to clean your clothes. The gym is pretty convenient to have, but its absolutely disgusting because it is never cleaned. It is also very small, so when 4-5 other people show up there no room and it smells terrible. The one good thing about this place is the free parking right outside your complex. Even though, this is not the safest parking situation because anyone can get to your car and possibly break in.
They have shuttle bus to take us to school, so it is good for the students who dont have a car in here. and their leasing office is nice and clear, they have gym and studying room in there! But the apartments are a little bit old, and it is kind of easily hear noises.
Living in University Village has been satisfying so far, they genuinely surprised me. On my move in date I was welcomed to a carefully cleaned apartment, I’ve had only one issue with my apartment and it was quickly fixed by their maintenance team before I put my first piece of furniture in. One of the light-bulbs were fried, but besides that minor issue I haven’t had a single problem with my space since I’ve moved in. The UV staff assisted me the whole time, they were very helpful ensuring my move in went smoothly. UV offers a wide range of amenities, I absolutely love their new life center which I spend most of my time there studying, working out, and playing in their game room. Also, their OSU tailgates are super fun too, they make living here fun it’s like a small neighborhood! They offer a ton of social events which I love, I moved here from Florida and its helped me meet a lot of residents that live here. Their shuttle service is amazing as well, the shuttle travels to OSU throughout the week and its great if you don’t have a car. All around this place is hard to beat, I’ve done an enormous amount of research and looked at multiple properties before I moved to Ohio and I am extremely happy I chose UV. The amenities that come with UV can’t be beat such as: their extremely fun social events, their OSU shuttle service, recently built life center, and their pricing. I don’t regret the move at all I am very pleased with University Village.
Really small apartments. No locks in the bathrooms and they refuse to show you the part meant before moving you in. The first floor is literally the basement. They have stopped the weekend bus service to Lennox center and won’t be starting that anytime soon. They cancel the weekday Kroger shuttle service mostly unscheduled. The bus that goes to campus is small and very bad and don’t have enough seating space. Even the seats are small for a regular person. Staff is really rude if you ask any questions. You can find better places at a cheaper price.
If you are reading reviews to figure out if you should get an apartment here I implore you to find another place. You will be bombarded with notes on your door from management to come into your apartment and do upgrades. I was left 3 notes on my door that they were going to replace my windows and I needed to move anything close to the windows within two feet away. I did this 3 times and nobody EVER showed up. So now they are asking me to do it again and promise they will come tomorrow. They replaced my toilet today (not by my request, they choose to upgrade your apartment while you still reside in it causing inconveniences.) After the replacement, my toilet now runs constantly and will not stop. Ive called maintenance and they will get to it tomorrow. This is also after they shut off the water to my apartment for 5 hours today. Also, if you are interested in an apartment here ask them to take you to YOUR apartment you will be leased in and NOT the models as they are in much better shape than where you are actually placed.Management: dont waste your time commenting on this telling me to stop in the leasing office. Thats the biggest cop out response Ive ever read.
Definitely the best neighborhood in Columbus. It is very well maintained given the size of the property. It has its own shuttle that makes traveling to college much easier as for me my home is just next to the bus stop. The newly built Resident Life Center is an icing on the cake which offers free Starbucks coffee, pool game, gym, Internet access and study rooms. Overall, the best place to live in Columbus.
UPDATE 6/7/2019.I called the towing company that they have listed by the parking lots that say car will be towed without parking pass. They told me that university village has told them not to tow any cars. That it’s been like that for a while. So basically university village is charging all of us a stupid amount for a parking pass and not enforcing it what so ever. This is beyond frustrating.I’ve been living at UV for almost 2 years. There are plenty of things that frustrate me about living here. For example: when myself and my roommate moved down here we did it because of the bus system and the huge shopping area for groceries. I understand that the Shopping center being torn down was out of their control. When we resigned last year our rent should’ve not have gone up. Yes, it’s so cool that a bigger shopping complex is being built. The thing is though is that it’s not like I’ll be living here in two years when it’s finished. The amenities that got us to sign here were mostly all gone. So basically when we resigned last year we had to pay more money for less. There are plenty of larger apartments for the same price closer to OSU. However, what frustrates me the most about living at university village is they make you pay for a parking pass. Which I am 100% okay with but NOT ONCE have I EVER seen it enforced. During football season there are plenty of nonresidents taking our spots. Just this past weekend so many cars parked in illegal spots that almost caused me to crash my car because of the illegally parked car in my blind spot. So many cars are always parked in the parking lot that do not have UV stickers. If you don’t want to enforce this and tow away cars don’t make your residents pay for parking passes.
The staff from here are very friendly and always deliver an amazing experience. The shuttle service is outstanding, since paying for parking in OSU is expensive. The only downside is to take a closer look whenever you are in your new apartment since many things can be dirty (inside counters, floor heater vents, and some kitchen drawers).Regardless of that, the maintenance staff are always available and are very hasty in their response and action.
I love the life center, free coffee, free drinks. And I do workouts in the fitness room everyday. And whenever you submit a maintenance, they help you fix it very soon and you dont need to be at your apt! Super convenient! Except that when you live second floor or first floor, there are some noise upstairs when it is very late..... bad sound insulation....
I lived there for the first two years at OSU and loved it! Easy access to campus (especially if you dont have a car) and the complex itself is quiet. The staff is amazing and provide quick fixes to any issues you may have. I love that they host tailgates and try to make the neighborhood fun!
DO NOT LIVE HERE! This apartment complex will rip you off every possible chance they get! First of all they advertise their rooms with utility cost included, but you have to buy electric separate through the company that they want for an additional $80. They also charge a mandatory activity fee of $145 that you cant get out of even if you dont have time to do any of the activities they put on. Throughout the year they changed utility companies twice and we were responsible for setting this up and paying the $80 deposit both times.I was also towed out of my own lot when I got a new car and had to pay $118 to get it out. This was partially my fault for not getting a new slip before, but after getting the warning, my car was towed before the office was open to ask for a new parking pass.At the end of the year I was tired of dealing with this mess so I decided to move out two months early and sublease my apartment. When I signed the form I was told that they were going to take out Junes rent and reimburse me later. When July came around I called the office and the manager said she was not aware I was supposed to be reimbursed? Come to find out I was charged also for Julys rent which I was not anticipating and was charged a $25 overdraft fee from my bank. I called and was told that this was my fault for not cancelling the direct withdrawal, but that the manager would do me a favor and cancel it now. IF THEY COULD CANCEL IT NOW WHY DIDNT THEY WHEN I SIGNED THE FORM TO NO LONGER LIVE THERE?Overall I feel like I was consistently ripped off by university village and the management. I would recommend living in the Old North area if you are a student or really anywhere but here!
I didnt want to write this review but I have to tell people the truth. Apartment is okay but they dont do what they promise and maintenance is always delay or never fix. We were promised that the apartment would be clean and nice when we move in but it was all dirty and messy and even the apartment key was not working when we first tried to open the door(so disappointing). So, when we first signed the lease, leasing office promised us to give $160 laundry and 65 inch TV as a bonus. We trusted them and signed the lease, they talked about all this benefit and blah blah. We asked them about those stuff after we moved in and they told us to email and now after 3.5 months, they are saying we signed the lease late and wont give us tv but they gave the laundry code after 3.5 months of moving. Let me tell you, they still havent fixed some of the things at my place. I would never live here again after my lease contract is over.
Nice a place to live during my college life. The price is affordable and the living environment is amazing. I have access to the newly built village center that has recreational facilities and study room. Shuttle buses regularly head to campus every 20 minutes on school days. i highly recommend this apartment complex
Great place to live! Very fun and homey environment with plenty to do around! The events put on are fun and give you the perfect getaway from a busy school week! The apartments are super nice and spacious giving you all the space you need, even when you want to have guests over!
The walls must be made of paper and cardboard because your can hear every sound every neighbor makes. This place is just trash please save yourself from the headaches and live somewhere else. The A/C started leaking and it took like a day or 2 before maggots started appearing. The bathroom below me caved in so the caulked my shower and had people move in literally 2 days after.
Ive been living here for quite some time. I have to say their apartments are pretty good. HOWEVER, they raise the rent however they want without even updating the contract with us. My car in the parking lot got hit by a pickup without a parking permission and University Village refused to take any responsibility on this accident and they totally felt no shame on their poor management. I dont know why I have to pay this so called life fee when someone can just park in the lots just like I do and hit someones car and run. They probably care more about money than your experience even though they really know how to make you feel like they are offering good stuff.
Bathroom ceiling fell in within a month. Was never truly fixed and always leaked the whole year. Neighbors smoked a lot and easily leaked into our apartment. Mail is never delivered correctly. Gave us a $25 fee because we lost an ID. Which is silly they give you IDs in the first place. Treated us like children. If you want to be reminded of how to clean and to have a constant ceiling leak live here!!
At first I was placed in the wrong apartment which was much smaller than the one I signed for. I understand mistakes happen and fortunately the manager was extremely nice and worked to resolve the problem promptly. Quality customer service even when dealing with a massive amount of people moving in all around the same time. The RLC is amazing for getting your work and studying done. Also, only had to call Maintenance once and they were knocking at my door within 5 minutes to help.
Very good experience. Have been here for the last 2.5 years. No complaints. Price is higher than other places near campus, but this is one of the safest and well maintained communities. With the new resident life center, the experience just got much better! Roads are well taken care during the snow too.
I have been here for one month and already regret signing my lease.Weve had plumbing issues from day 1 and they have done NOTHING to actually fix the issue. We have informed maintenance and the leasing office multiple times and nothing has been done. The one maintenance guy who actually spoke to us about the issue said that I tried what I could but this solution will not last. I think being able to shower without DIRTY water from someone elses shower/bathroom would be a concern for whoever runs this place; apparently not. There are also ants all over the place and some have even bitten my roommate. I cannot wait to leave this awful apartment and move somewhere else next year. I have no intentions of renewing my lease for this awful awful apartment and I highly recommend that anyone that is seriously looking at this place to reconsider. This headache of an apartment is not worth it.EDIT: I changed my initial one star review to three stars. Shortly after i posted this, I received a call from management and they came in and fixed my problems. I am less unhappy with this place now. However, it took me writing a negative review to get their attention about the issues that Ive had. While I do appreciate them fixing it, it should not have taken this long nor should I have had to write a negative review for this to occur.
UPDATE: Since posting the original review weve dealt with1.) no water pressure at all one day.2.) our toilet would not flush over the weekend. Called maintenance and they asked can this wait until Monday?. Well, flushing my toilet would be nice. so, no, it cant wait. Ended up replacing a completely eroded drain pump3.) Just discovered water is dripping below our kitchen sink. All of our stuff under the sink is covered in water. About a quarter of an inch covered. On the phone with maintenance.Ill continue to update this with issues we have with our apartment. Im not going into the management office and wasting my time after work. If they want to make our stay here better they can reach out to me.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Bugs, plumbing issues, horrible Maintenance. Lived here for a full year and have had to call Maintenance at least once a month involving plumbing such as:Leaking ceiling (3 times)Broken toilet(2 times)Broken faucetNo hot water (took MONTHS to fix)A few weeks ago they put a notice on the door stating a bug inspection would be taking place and an inspector would be at the apartment. We were instructed to take out everything in our kitchen cabinets, pull the fridge and stove from the wall, and stay present to let the inspector in the apartment or we would possibly be reprimanded. We did this and the inspector NEVER SHOWED UP. We currently have an infestation of bugs in our shower we have to routinely kill with draino. We renewed our lease until 2017 and regret it.
Its a good place to live, its quiet, maintenance works fairly well. You have a shuttle bus that picks you up and drops you off campus, so thats a big advantage, specially in the winter. There are many activities during the year for students (like going to the movies, amusement parks, zoo, etc for free*) and the amenities of the resident Life center include free* coffee/hot chocolate/tea, study rooms, printing station (black and white only), a 24h gym, and a pool (only during the summer). There are laundry facilities only in certain buildings, so you should ask before moving, so that you know if your building has one or if you have to go to another to do laundry. The great thing about laundry is that you dont need coins, you just use an app and pay with your credit/debit card. As a personal appreciation, I feel that the apartments are pretty old, small and expensive for what you get. They dont have centralized air conditioning or dishwasher as other apartments in the same price range around OSU. Furthermore, they charge you with a monthly utilities fee of $150 that only includes gas, trash and water, that I think is crazy. You could say that the price is justified because of all the extra activities that you have access to, but you pay an *extra yearly fee for them, so they arent really free.
I just woke up to take a drink of water to find a roach on my windowsill, so im changing my 2 star rating to 1. When I moved in within a few hours it was clear that that apartment was infested with roaches, so they moved me to a new building which was nice. It was nice for a few weeks until the roaches showed up, its been about 8 months and despite the treatments theyve done its getting worse to the point that I dont sleep in the apartment anymore, despite how clean we keep it they wont go away, and Im tired of being told the issue is being handled. The refrigerator freezes randomly and we have to throw food away, our door bolt doesnt work which isnt safe. I understand theres only so much the staff can do there are plenty of other places to live that dont have these problems, especially at theses pricesI and Im not the only one with these problems. know on campus housing is more expensive but I rather eat ramen everyday for a year than sign another lease with university village.
Upside, its and apartment reasonably close to campus. Downside, pretty much everything else. I have been here for 2 months so far and Ive had all of the following issues. My apartment looks like it was painted by a 3rd grade class, black mold has yet to be handled in my unit completely, the counters are destroyed, the drywall has cracks, for the first month we had black mold in 2 of our 4 ac units, in my unit every room smells like fresh cheap asian food, management gave us a list of things they claimed was going to be done in the first month and only 1 of 7 has been taken care of (note this is the ONLY reason we did not back out of our lease), when we check our maintenance slip it all that was talked about is not even listed, our lock is broken, the outside door can be finicky, the outside of the building has holes from where birds have been nesting on the 3rd floor, and about 40% of the lights in the halls dont work. This is simply off the top of my head but dont be fooled by the model or the beautiful main building because you will not have the same experience. The only positive thoughts I have about UV is the location, the bus drivers are incredibly kind, and the people at the front office will do what they can to help you with any problems. Unless my rent is cut in half I would never even consider resigning. Simply dishonest business.
The RLC, gym, bus and maintenance is good. The only complain is raising the prices each year. Also, when I was leaving my old apartment, I was charged $300 for the carpet that could have been cleaned by a cleaner. I missed a spot, and they used it as an excuse to change the whole carpet since it was old.
I love living at University Village so much that I renewed again for next year. UV is far enough away from campus to be quiet, but close enough to still feel like a student. I love the events and activities UV puts on because it really makes me feel important and a part of the UV community.
On the outside, looks great. Bus schedule is (mostly) consistent and the gym is nice. But considering the myriad of maintenance issues (a loud pounding in the wall that kept us awake throughout winter, a large water stain in our bedroom ceiling that eventually grew two mushrooms, a bathroom ceiling made of gross old materials that the insulation kept falling out of, no cover on the outside of one A/C unit so the unit ended up filled with and smelled like mold) that were not fixed no matter how many times I submitted requests, living here was horrible. Not to mention the times I called to check on our maintenance requests (that were marked as complete but in reality absolutely nothing was done) and people in the maintenance office were rude and actually hung up on me a couple of times. Or the time I spent hundreds of dollars on contacts to find out they had been delivered to the wrong building and another resident actually stole some of them from the box. Or the times when people would move out and leave their furniture blocking the stairwells and UV would do absolutely nothing about it. Or how they trick you into a nonrefundable “application fee” in lieu of a larger refundable security deposit. It’s not the perfect community like they suggest it is. I’d recommend living almost literally anywhere else unless you’re desperate.
The WORST place in the world, way worse than a 10 square feet jail. If I could give negative star, I will. The apartments are old and out of repair, you can know what your neighbors are doing by listening to them exactly. Heater does nothing for the winter, you will be freezed. The staff are RUDE, treating customers like cattle after they got you sign the least. Especially the ones sitting in the office center, bad attitude, horrible customer service. The maintenance would enter your house as frequently as they can, for average once in a month. By the end of your leasing, they will kick you out rudely.Sincerely, as OSU student who lived there for three years, I recommend everyone stay away from this place. Dont be fooled by their price, save a hundred or less, go other places.
The day I first went to move in, within 2 hours of being in my apartment I found 2 cockroaches. They moved me to a temp apartment (which was nice of them) and then let me more into a new apartment. In my new apartment (which was across the apartment complex) I found 4 more cockroaches within a span of 2 months. They refused to let me break my lease even though it is not a healthy living environment for myself and my dog to be living where I have found cockroaches. On top of this, I had to talk to the property manager to even get my AC unit replaced because the maintenance department told me they would not replace it until spring (I wanted it replaced in November). I will never live here ever again.
DisgustingI strongly advise to ask to see the unit assigned to you BEFORE signing the lease. The unit they show you is nothing like the unit you will be assigned. The older buildings have lots of plumbing issues, our bathroom has flooded with sewage (yes, two inches of poopy water in our bathroom, seeping into the carpets). We tried to work out a solution with the front office but they could only offer us a SMALLER apartment for a HIGHER rent price. The bathroom is always covered in mold no matter how much bleach we use. There are so many hidden fees that they tuck in your lease so read it CAREFULLY.If I wasnt stuck in this rent for another year, Id be long gone.
Apartments are nice and they have decent maitnence when it is needed. The management sucks kiss your security deposit by because they steal every bit of it wether there is something wrong or not. They put you in the wrong apartment they gave me a one bedroom when I asked and paid a security deposit on a studio which is a 80 a month difference. When I called to ask why they said oh we ran out of studios even though when I applied they had plenty open. Overall it is a decent place to live if they would get better costumer service and a more friendly management. Also they charge a insanely high price for rent and they charge a fee for water trash sewer and gas that is insanely high as well.
Maintenance shows up without fixing the issues Ive had on multiple occasions including possible mold in the ceiling. Late update on this but ceiling in bathroom ended up collapsing two days later because all they did was spray to cover up the stain. But the real reason for my update is Mice Mice Mice. Management and maintenance office has continued to fail to deal with mice issues I have been having for months. Many other maintenance issues too but the mice is the big one. Fridge went out on a Friday they said it wasnt on the emergency list call back on Monday lost all my food. They refused to replace the fridge because it barely kicked back to life fast forward to the next Friday Fridge goes out again. They do the bare minimum here. DONT LIVE HERE. Assistant Manager is no help promises Manager will give me a call tomorrow going on a week no call. One more note: reviews here are artificially high as they give you gifts or giveaways for writing good reviews. Pay close attention to all other reviews as I have had many of the problems they have listed. Not sure if its letting me post pictures of the mice but I tried to add them
We lived in UV for almost 6 months in 2016. We entered to a newly renovated apartment, everything was new! Also the location of our apartment was excellent, we were close to Kroger and to the Olentangy River Rd. and also to Olentangy trail. UV is the best place for the visitors and students of OSU.
It is very good to live in here and very convenient to go to school! You can choose to live alone or with roommates. The facilities are new and if there is a problem you can just make a phone call and then UV will send people to fix it!The shuttle which runs around the university is very convenient for us.
University Village is a great place to live when heading off campus. It is close to Ohio State and the apartments are very cozy. There are so many great amenities with the new welcome center. The individuals who work here are very polite and willing help you in any way and every way that they can.
Im honestly surprised that the rating is as high as it is, maybe I just got the one bad apartment at the worst time or maybe Im too sensitive to these issues; Regardless, here is why I reccomend you should look elsewhere. The biggest factor that attracted me to UV was the location, as it was somewhat close to campus and had a shopping center with various shops and a Kroger within short walking distance. What I didnt know was that a few months after signing up for a year lease that half of the shops in the shopping center were closed, and that most of the other shops there would be following suit. When I first arrived at UV around September the Shopping Center had a Barber, Table Tennis Club, a Chinese restaurant, Canes, McDonalds, Kroger, Subway, a Liquor Store, a Bar, a Nail Salon, a Pizza Place, Applebees, and a few other restaurants. At the time of writing this (Febuary) Everything except a few restaurants near the end of the shopping center and the Bar has closed or is in the process of closing. Meaning that the biggest selling point for UV (location) is out of the picture. My other problems are with the actual apartment, Sound travels through the ceiling and walls with no issue, I can tell when someone is talking and understand most of what they say, And I am able to tell exactly where my upstairs neighbors are at all times because the creaking echoes throughout the whole apartment. My reason for believing this is the fault of the structure and not simply loud neighbors is that earlier in the year our upstairs neighbor came down to say that my roommates voice vibrated his floor as if he was screaming. What was actually happening was my roommate was talking in a normal voice. There are many small inconveniences that pile up, Rooms do not have locks, the rooms are setup in such a way that if you have a queen sized bed you need to have it either take up half of your room or cover up a door. The University Village website lets me login and put in maintenance requests, but for some reason the function to pay rent online has never worked for my account, forcing me to come to the UV building every time I want to pay rent and it always has to be with a check. I have contacted UV about this issue around 5 times, and each time they have said it is fixed or should be fixed soon, Its still not working. There is no space in the bathroom to put toothbrushes or anything else except for a medicine cabinet and on top of the toilet. I could go on and on about all the small fees and things that they do not have or do, but the above should give an adequate picture.University Village is probably not the worst place to live near campus, but there are definitely much better alternatives in its current state.
Dear god, where do I even start? Long story short, the leasing office, the property manager, and it’s employees are absolutely 1000% careless and negligent. I’ve been moved out for two weeks now (thank god!) after dealing with months and months of pipe noises and issues with safety. Our car tire was even stolen in the parking lot, yay! Now, the person who took over our lease is having the same problems, saying that they’re charging him for things he never signed up for (pet rent, insurance, etc) and claiming we didn’t pay June rent in full. We absolutely did and have proof. Our lawyer is pushing us to take them to court. All in all, it’s advertised well, the rooms they show you are nice, but it’s outdated and nothing is updated and it absolutely sucks. We had someone take over our lease a year early because we literally couldn’t take it anymore. 0/10 would recommend living here.
Absolute Ripoff. Honestly listen to this and save your time and money. Warning that they scam you on security deposits. They will find any way possible to use all of your security deposits, even charging you on things that were there before you that they’ll refuse to do anything about. Spotlessly cleaned the apartment and they still claimed apartment was dirty. Also not to mention extremely overpriced for amount of space , extremely outdated everything and cheap practically everything. You will regret living here not to mention maintenance and the office do not care about anything to do with you or their horrific apartments so forget about asking them for or about anything.
I lived in University Village for 2 years prior to moving to Chicago. I loved my apartment, the facilities and amenities the complex had to offer. Additionally all of the employees who work there were kind, fun and helpful! The units are a good size, clean and updated.
This is the best place to live, the price versus quality is awesome. There a lot of free events and service like go to ski, zoo, AMC movie theater, etc., and service like a free bus to go to Lennox, University Collage. The resident life center is the best place to study, print, with a nice decorations, free Starbucks coffee and Internet also there is a cool area to play billar, watch TV, doesnt forget the gym area. The apartments are great with good maintenance and out side the gardens and streets are very clean and beautiful.
I have been completely misinformed on everything so far. I am a new resident and it has been 4 weeks since my maintenance request was put in and we were told it would be taken care of. Our oven does not turn off which is an extreme safety hazard not only to us but the entire complex as it is a fire hazard to everyone. Also maintenance does not inform you on anything going on in your building. This is the second time our water has been turned off with no heads up and no email. There is a multiple hour window in which our water is turned off which makes multiple things difficult to do. There seems to be a lack f communication between management and maintenance and everything gets lost in translation. I find the apartments themself in very poor condition and the reason for my lease is because I had no other choice. Our window is a safety issue along with insulation issue as the entire base is cracked. Overall these apartments need to go under full inspection as I am almost sure that there will be many failures.
The apartment from hell. The people there leave trash in the laundry rooms. Laundry is $1.50 per load and then people leave theyre stuff for hours at a time and there a barely any machines to being with. Neighbors are loud and obnoxious; everyone just throws their trash on the ground, it is beyond gross even though there are signs. The buses are inconvenient. They are never truly operating every 20 minutes. I had to buy a parking pass just so I didnt have to wait for an hour to catch a bus. The bulidings are ancient and over priced. The AC is a little box that cant keep and entire apartment cold. The bulidings are rotting. My apartment flooded and it took maintenance over a month to room the capert that was mold infested. The wall is caving in, in the kitchen and I complained multiple times to Maintence about it. I wish I would have gone somewhere clean and quite. I left before my lease was over because I couldnt stand the place anymore. It is quite sad.
Pros- Proximity to Campus- Bus transit..............ONLY IF YOU DONT HAVE A CAR- workout facility and poolConsTransit- You pay an extra $120 a month for all the non-sense that apartment complex deems necessary. If you have a car, just pay for a parking pass, in the long run, its way better and cost effective.- Only runs at set times, so dont plan on spending evening hours on campus and plan on taking a bus 40 minutes before class if you plan to get there at a solid time.Pool/Neighborhood- If you inspect the area, this is definetly not the good part of upper arlington; i bring this up because UV doesnt attempt in ANY way to prevent them from causing trouble during the summer.Apartment/Tenants/Repairs- Overpriced apartments that they try to express the need to charge the max for.- if you have problems with any other tenants, UV does absolutely nothing about it. With that being said the floors are very thin and the slightest raised voice can be heard clearly.- I know several people, including myself, that have placed work orders months ago and still havent gotten any results.- UV will convince you there is no pest problem, but during the summer and fall, get ready because you can be the cleanest person in the world and still find the occasional roach here. Also if someone in your building has them, then youll be seeing them soon.Staff- Have publically complained about how awful management treats the staff and how unorganized they are- Language barrier issuesLook, this place got me with how good it looked and even with the overpriced apartment, i thought i could make it work....but no!This place only cares about taking every cent from you that they can get. If you arent an international student or family, then i would strongly advise against this place; i have seen that unless you arent from the US, then the Fs they give about you decrease even more. Also the bus system isnt worth it; you save more money on gas and a parking pass then you do paying the extra monthly fines.
I would avoid signing a lease at University Village like the plague.I chose to live here because I was offered a six-month lease that would carry me through my graduation.I toured a few models of the floor plans. Based on seeing the rooms, I knew that it was not going to be luxurious, but it looked decent enough to get me through six months. However, the room I received looked NOTHING like the model we toured. The only item that had been remodeled since the early 1970s was the refrigerator, stove, and carpet. I suspect almost everything in this place has not been updated since then. This was very unlike the model. The walls had twenty coats of paint on them. We were assigned a unit on a subterranean level since they choose to assign you wherever they would like. The entire unit smelled of must and mildew after I moved in. They tried to clean one of the 1970s A/C units, but this only helped a little bit. There are also awful pipe noises that rattle the entire complex. If someone above you is using the shower, expect the pipes throughout the whole complex to vibrate and shake. The units was also full of spiders. After a few months into our lease, we encountered severe humidity issues. Things that shouldnt rust, were rusting. The bathroom was getting ludicrous amounts of mold and grime in a short amount of time. Im an engineer, and my brand new stainless steel calipers (measuring tool) had signs of rust on them. Yes, high chromium STAINLESS steel. My desktop motherboard developed rusts at a few solder connections. My roommate brought down his guitar, and after just a few days, the strings and screws on it were rusty! We put in numerous maintenance requests in, requesting a dehumidifier. University Village only responded after more than a month later, asking if the problem had been solved. By this point, we had bought our own dehumidifier for the unit. I should have seen this coming. After moving in, I noticed the steel on the bathroom ceiling that holds the slot ceiling (panels) were severely rusted, and they couldnt even cover it up with paint. Lastly, Harley Drive floods every heavy rain. A University Village employee even admitted this to me. During this time, you wont be able to leave your parking lot unless you want to risk flood damage to your car. Its that high. Finally, my last complaint concerns the issues I encountered at move out. My roommate and I signed the lease without any security deposit as a move-in special. After having been moved out of the place for more than a month, we received an email saying that we owed $95 for property damages. One was for an unclean bathroom, which was clean except for the humidity induced grime in the shower tile. This was a $50 charge. After trying to dispute it, they sent pictures of a bathroom that did not resemble the way we remember leaving it at moveout, we suspect the images are from the pre move-out inspection, rather than post. We took pictures ourselves. Either way, it no way justifies a $50 charge. They also charged $45 stating that there was a rust stain on the carpet. I vacuumed the entire unit before leaving, and do not ever recall seeing such a stain. This charge was dropped due to UVs admittance of failure to correct the humidity issue.Overall, I would not live at University Village unless you want to live in a very low quality unit that does NOT resemble the model shown to you. The service was awful, and it is actually expensive for the location, size of units, and amenities. The living conditions here are unacceptable. I surmise many units are laden with mold, mildew, and insect infestations. Other people in my graduating class living at University Village admitted to experiencing very similar issues.
Really good place for students, its near the OSU and they offer free shuttle service every 20 minutes! The resident life center and the gym center are very convenient. I love the fact they organize free day trips around Columbus, like Cedar Point, and etc! Also, during the summer they organize weekly pool parties! The staff is friendly and I do recommend this place if you are going to study at the OSU!
UV is a good living and studyinb place around OSU. As far as I have experienced, the apartment is fine and every equipments work well although some other apartments have some minor problems, such as not enought heat, too much noisy. What impress me most is the fitness room and studying room with coffee and copier. I really enjoy living here. But remember pay the rent fee on time.
I have lived here for 8 months now and have had mostly poor experiences. The price you pay compared to the size of the apartments you actually get is awful. Their biggest draw was location to the nearby kroger and the busses to campus. However, without them giving any notice prior to signing, the kroger closed a few months after move in and they claim a grocery store will be rebuilt eventually but the new shopping center isnt slated to be done for several years down the road. The buses are constantly breaking down and never seem to be on time for their regular schedule often time coming 5-10 minutes late. Currently their is construction going on in our building and it has been almost everyday for over a week. It consists of loud hammering and drilling for hours straight, and the paper thin walls do not help. Also, not the safest neighborhood by any means. You can find much larger and nicer places for significantly less!
University is a good place to live, especially for international students. It locates at the safe place, and most of residents are students in OSU. So it is easy to make friends over here. And UV organizes different varieties of activities every month, which is awesome!
Definitely a great place to live if you are attending OSU. They have bus routes that take you to campus as well as grocery stores and movies! There is a 24/7 gym and a pool. There are tons of options for floor plans. You do have to get your own wifi and electric though and are charged a flat rate for the other utilities on top of your monthly rate.
University Village is too pricey for what youre getting. Youre charged an extra $92 a month on top of the listed rent price for what it is Im still not sure of after living here for a year (not including electric, everything electric). Also, I only got like half of my deposit back when I left my apartment looking better than the day I moved in. Heres a heads up if anything.
The management of this apartment is dereliction of duty, the only thing they can do is perfunctory and cheating.Never ever ever seen such an terrible apartment!!! If I am saying I already give up on the fixing of heater, the missing of my property really really really made me scared, disappointment and angry. I have 6 gift card of gas station in my desk drawer in my bedroom and I found I miss 3 of them in total amount of $100 right after the maintanence enter my apartment for fixing some issue.I never met this issue in my life.I am not saying someone took my gift cards, but how a theft can enter our apartment without destroying the window and door? Why they didnt take all our property like laptop, iPAD, SLR camera and just took half of my gift cards in my drawer??? Why my cards lost happened right after you completed the maintenance? Its terrible and doesnt make any sense...Also in the ealier of Februry ,I heard other guys living in UV losing $2700 cash from $4500 which he put in the draw box in his bedroom right after the maintanence enter the apartment for fixing water leak. The office said its non business with them and the police said if they aimed at specific race, it would be another level of serious problem. So please let me know if you have met the same problem in this horrible apartment.(update in 2-22-2019)I gave them one star because there is no choice LOWER than one star. First of all, the actaul apartment is smaller than the one we were shown in the tour, but its OK, we can stand it,since you have no choice. We move here since Dec 10th 2019 and the temperature reach to 65 only few days BECAUSE those days the temperature outside were almost 60!!!I never got cold in past 10 years before I move to university village but got cold two times in the past two months!!! Also my roommate got cold last month!!!! You can not imagine your heater doesnt work while the temperature is below 0 outside!!!! WE WENT TO OUR FRIENDS APARTMENT IN UV TO SEE THEIRS ARE ALWAYS AROUND 75-78!!! We reported more than 10 times and sometimes they sent someone to check and saying they would back, sometimes they just checked and leaving without any words. We talked with the manager for two times, WE JUST ASKED EITHER FIX IT OR CHANGE US TO ANOTHER UNIT WHICH THE HEATHER DOES WORK WELL,but they just said thats all because the weather is cold outside...and they borrowed us spce heater and said would put some credit in our account, yes you know once we open the space heater, it will cause tripping operation and we never see the credit in our account. NEVER EVER EVRE EVRE Recommend anyone to trying to live here.
Just wanted to update my rating - nothing has changed. In my last review they said a manager would reach out to me and that was months ago. I haven’t heard a word. There also is a roughly 12 inch deep hole in the parking lot that was unmarked and I fell in as it was not marked at night. I let someone know and it’s been two months. All they did was add a cone.I sincerely hope people take my review to heart. This is not a good place to live. My new apartment is cheaper and updated. Please know there are other options if you keep looking.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY. I would pay $100 to live here max. Maintence has to come so much and they don’t do their job correctly or at all. Everything is moldy. Everything is broken. Building smells like fish. They let us know literally the day before they want to give us room inspections. I hate this place and can’t wait to move out. Worse place I’ve ever lived in and will make sure to tell everyone not to live there. Wish I could get my money back.
Great property that is close to the school, and restaurants yet far enough off the road that it maintains a peacefulness that lacks alot of traffic. Or office and maintenance staff work hard to make living here an enjoyable experience. the staff are quick when we have maintenance requests.
Families and grad students, look somewhere else. Anywhere else. The leasing agents might tell you its quiet and family friendly, but that is far from accurate. The residents are primarily undergraduates, which is fine. There is nothing inherently wrong with undergraduates. For some reason, however, these particular undergraduates seem to have the impression that this is an adults-only community. I have been harassed at the pool for letting my potty-trained child splash on the stairs on a 90° day and was told by a pool attendant You cant please everyone... Ive had noise complaints over the occasional bump from a 30 lb child getting out of her bed in the morning. Meanwhile, drunken 20-year-olds shouting at the top of their lungs parade under our windows every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. In fairness, we should have considered walkability when we moved in. Either way, the nearest playground is in Buckeye Village, which is (I think) set to be demolished soon. There are a couple others down the bike trail, but its more of a planned excursion. There is no longer a grocery store in walking distance, which was one of our biggest draws when we moved in.Moving in was a nightmare, too. There seems to be no consistent agreement about what the term premium unit means, so after we toured the model and asked to pay a little extra for a premium unit like the one we saw, we were surprised to get the keys to our apartment and find none of the features we expected. Specifically, we had crumbling laminate tile in the kitchen and bathroom and a yellowing peach tub with avocado colored tile all over the walls. When we sent an email to see what was going on, we were told that our unit was in fact premium, but that the model unit was deluxe premium. In all the fuss around getting it settled, literally every person used different terminology to describe the unit. Ultimately, they did the upgrades to get it where they said (or maybe didnt say?) it would be, which to their credit, was great.Still, the noisiness, the attitudes of residents toward children existing in their proximity, the occasional cockroach, and the challenges of functioning in an already small space with massive wall unit air conditioners jutting out of the walls in almost every room are not worth it.
Worst Apartment ever lived! There is a fat female assistant at leasing office with short blond hair who is rude and impolite to the residents. Dont know how she is hired. Also, the food disposer in the kitchen can NOT process any food, even rice or vegetables. The maintain team will blame the residents for throwing vegetables in the food disposer! If this one only takes liquid, why call it food disposer!Very unfriendly maintenance team and leasing office persons! Try to avoid to live here. Also, I heard a lot of people can not get their deposit back even though they thoroughly cleaned apartment!
Apartment complex only has two positives - the gym and the pool otherwise it is subpar. The rooms are not worth the price and the amount of problems with the contractors that they hire were beyond ridiculous. Beware of utility bills as I was overcharged on more then one occasion and it took a while to get it straightened out. Highly recommend looking somewhere else.Another issue is when my trailblazer got towed. It had the parking pass on the back window as required, but for anyone that is familiar with trailblazers knows that the back window is tinted so they did not see it in their rush to tow me. Was late to work, cost me money, time, and all I got out of the office was that they will discuss it with the towing company and offered their sincere apology for the mixup. Did not get reimbursed and gave up trying to to. The residents that they have running the office are ridiculous.
I am a current resident and student at Ohio State. When I moved in the apartment was not cleaned prior so I had to clean it all myself with my roommates.. the linoleum under the fridge is all torn back and filthy, which I put in a maintenance request over a month ago for and was never fulfilled. I was never given a mail key when i moved in so my roommates and I cant access our mail. Today I went to ride the UV buses to class and was denied because I didnt have a UV ID card, which I didnt know I needed because my roommates and I were never given one. So now I am late for class, have to put out $20 of my own money to park on campus today and it seems like I payed the resident life fee for nothing because I cant use the buses. I was also told that there was a deal for free laundry if I signed a lease when I did and was never given free laundry. Ive only been here a month and a half and already wish I hadnt moved in.
Bottom line up front: terrible experience. Where do I start... cons: terrible security (my bike tires stolen because the lease states we have to keep bicycles outside) and when I informed the administration office they basically told me to deal with it and keep an eye out for shady individuals. I’ve also heard multiple gunshots throughout the summer (and yes, I know the difference between the sound of a pistol/rifle and a firework). My apartment had not been cleaned before my roommate and I moved into it and there were a plethora of cosmetic and functional issues with the apartment. When we told maintenance about the issues, they told us we don’t need those things fixed because they’re not big enough problems. Pros: The leasing consultants are professional and friendly and try to be as helpful as possible even though they don’t really have any say over the issues that arise in the apartment and surrounding areas. If I could do zero stars, I would.
If I could give this place zero stars I would. I thought the bad reviews were exaggerated at the time and now I know that they were all true. Maintenance is slow at fixing even the simplest of things. Our apartment got flooded multiple times because they were unable to fix a drain right the first time. In our building we had really heavy metal doors which the replaced a couple of months after moving in. They didn’t paint the doors or replace the trim around the doors for months. After that they left painters tape around the door and left the wall trim off the wall. I had finally had enough of seeing that tape so I pulled it off, but the trim is still off the wall and laying all over the floor. I told maintenance about it multiple times but they still did nothing. It’s been almost a year of seeing this hideous place and I’m a so thankful that I’m moving out. Whatever you do AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!!!
University Village is so cheap and clean compared to other apartments on campus. The shuttle buses make it so convenient instead of paying $450+ for a parking pass on campus or struggling to find a meter or street parking and worrying about towing. I prefer using the 24 hour gym instead of waiting for machines or the squat rack at the RPAC or JOS. The starbucks coffee machine has saved me soo much money instead of buying coffee on campus. I have lived in two previous off campus apartments and each time it was a nightmare, from moving into nasty apartments/ houses, utilities being astronomical, maintenance staff being creepy, unfriendly and rude and expensive. I have experienced nothing like that at University Village and wish I lived here previous years.
Ive been wanting to write a review on this place but Ive been so busy & tolerating. Read this & you will thank me.First off, I moved in on the 22nd of August. At first, everything seems to be nice, new paint & clean carpet & etc. But immediately I already found so many problems regarding my unit.-The entrance door was super tough to lock & unlock.-The doors inside the unit are very hard to close & need a lot of force.-The toilet leaked, happened 2 times.-The restroom ceiling which apparently always have dust & chipped paint coming down to the floor.-Restroom sink that doesnt drain properly.-Bathup drain spit out some dirty water along with some waste.-Bathroom ceiling fell down & cause flooding, the water went into my room & my roommates room. All of these happened WITHIN A MONTH, granted, they fixed most of the things, NOT all of them. But the damaged cause by the ceiling & flooding was quite bad as it destroyed some of our stuffs & furniture. Not to mentioned other problems that already happened cause us to be uncomfortable to live here. I feel like this is not how $900/month unit should be like. Then, on the 1st of September, they wanted us to A FULL amount of rent. Weve only been staying here for A WEEK & they want us to pay a full amount of $900 for that. When we moved in we paid that much amount & that we thought that would take care of us for A GOOD MONTH.But unfortunately, the poor management of this place did not pro-rate us despite of moving of the last week of the month. They claimed that it should have been explained when I signed the lease, But I DO NOT recall of such things being explained to me. They were persistent that it is my fault that I didnt know. The manager & the accounting manager were harsh & didnt care at all.Disappointed by the lack of notice & details from the management, I paid the full amount for the next month. Things were starting to get a little better, less and less problems. Until now, parking pass problem. At this point, I have been living there for about 2 months. I woke up this morning only to see that my car was gone. I called the office & one of the lady name Chelsea told me that my car might have been towed because I dont have a parking pass. I was in shocked & disbelief that there is a parking pass. I never received one & have never been told or ask about one. She told me to check my red folder because she already put it inside, I was so sure theres no such thing. I proceed to check it and I was right, theres no parking pass in sight. I went to the office & Chelsea claimed that she gave the pass to me & have my name documented that I received one. She said that if I didnt have one why dont I asked for one?Excuse me? I didnt even know we have to have one, noone ever said anything about the pass & also didnt she say THAT SHE PUT A PARKING PASS IN MY RED FOLDER? Apparently, my roommate was the one who received it & she put my name instead of my roommates. Thats why she was so adamant that she gave one to me.To put this in my perspective, ever since I moved to Columbus, things have been very difficult & University Village is a huge part of it. Chelsea is a very incompetent employee that failed to explain that I still have to pay the full amount of rent & theres no pro-rate. And also failed to explain to me that I have to have a parking pass for the car. If my car never got towed, I would have never found out that this place needs a parking pass. Honestly, now that I know, Ive been walking & paying attention to other cars & there are TONS of cars without one. Now I have to get my car & pay the towing fee that they wont cover even though this is their fault. The management here is very poor, Brent however is very patient & nice but unfortunately there is nothing he could do. Other than him, they are all very incompetent. They take advantage of students & they do it because the can get away with it.STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
The rent is absolutely ludicrous for the space that you get. Everything in the units are cheap from the carpet to the cabinets and everything in between and will start to deteriorate quickly. They established a mandatory Resident Activity Fee which is like $125 PER PERSON, which I feel is just like giving them extra money just to take a swim in the pool in the summer. But overall, my biggest complaint is the terribly high rent for such a tiny place in not exactly an ideal area. You cannot even fit a dresser in the bedroom if you have a full size bed.
Horrible ! Horrible place to live in ! Worst nightmare came true. Once you sign the contract management will try and sabotage your every attempt to sublease or find a new person to replace you. They will be intentionally rude and scare away every potential subleaser, harass you to continue paying, they are cold-hearted and as previous renters have remarked evil. If you want to be threatened by management to never leave, and people being rude to your face then yes go ahead if not stay the heck away from this place. Have not been able to move for a job or life because they have been harassing me and preventing me from leaving and from subleasing for the past year. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place for good.
My car window was broken into here in this parking lot. I lived here for two years, and right before I was about to move out, this incident happened. To be fair, I left nothing of value inside the car. I would advise you to find another place to live as the people living around this place are not trustworthy. Do not move in here. You need to be careful and watch your back living here, or find somewhere else to live.
UV is a total SCAM! Zero Star!1. Lets start with its inexpensive monthly rates! $735/m for a 1-bedroom, $850/m for a 2-bedroom. Nice! Oh, wait, you must pay $120/m for extra charges! It means you must pay more than $850/m for a 1-bedroom, and/or at least $950 for a 2-bedroom. Not cheap anymore! To say it more accurately, based on the age of the buildings and the amount of maintenance units might need, these rates are high! You can easily find a better apartment in this price range.2. As I mentioned, almost all buildings are old. So, they need constant maintenance. You think it is okay, but after several weeks you will be tired of that! I had several issues and UVs management and maintenance office helped me for none of them! The ceiling of my bathroom was leaking for several MONTHS! I reported the leak more than 10 times! And yet, they did not care enough to fix it permanently! And finally, at the end they charged me $30 for a not clean tub!3. One of my neighbors was noisy and thanks to our old stinky building I could hear everything from my living room. Imagine someone has an argument with his roommate at 1:00 am and you hear it clearly from your living room! And again, the management helped me nothing! They did not even help me to find a new unit!4. Some people in the leasing office are rude! Very rude! I had an issue with the lease contract and the amount of money I needed to pay for the last month. They were charging me for an extra money which was not mentioned in the lease contract. I was the at the leasing office and talking with the business manager, and suddenly, rudely, she interrupted me, Sir, you are not going to win this fight! Do you have any other question?. I paid about $200 more than the total amount mentioned in the official lease!5. In the last day, I cleaned my unit several times to make sure they are not going to charge me for anything extra. I took several pictures of my unit to make sure they are not charging me for fake charges!Eventually, they charged me $93 for some vague items like cleaning, damage, stain, etc. and sent a $6 check! $6!I tried to get a report of all the maintenance calls to have a show you how many times I submitted requests, they did not give me any report and they removed it from the online account.I have several pictures and videos with date/time which show how many times the ceiling of the bathroom was leaking and no one cared about it.
I could not take a shower for 5 days!!They did not check basic function. When I moved in here(2nd of Jan, Thursday), I found that there was problem, only cold water in shower booth, at night.Next morning I report it. Technician came to my room on friday and it took too long time(pm 6.00-10.30), so I had to cancel my appointment and he said he would come back saturday. The only thing was waiting him. (Saturday morning - 5pm) However, technician told me it is going to be repaired on Monday. It means I could not take a shower for 5days.Does it make sense? So i want to call office but uv office does not answer. No way to solve the problem.
I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY!!Ever since I moved into this property, there has been issues. Firstly, there was a pest infestation. Then the bathroom ceiling was leaking and dirty water used to drain back into the bath tub though its water outlet. The heat system is controlled by the UV administration. So, later on, during the cold, the heat was started by them very late! And guess what, the heat system in my apartment wasnt working! To top it all up, not all the buildings have a laundry unit, and you have to carry your heavy laundry basket to a different building out in the cold! These are just physical issues. As if it wasnt difficult enough to manage these things alone, they came up with the idea of imposing SimpleBills on the residents, which charges $4 extra per roommate just for splitting the bill amongst the roommates. And despite complaining a lot of times to opt out of it, no one addresses the issue. Everyone says that we are looking into it and then nothing happens. And the complaint is closed without resolution! Now Ive paid the bill directly as a rentee at AEP and I am forced to pay to SimpleBills too with an extra monthly $4 charge.

2022-04-17I’m living here for about for 8 months now, and its been a great experience so far. I like the RLC as it has a great study space, a printing facility, a coffee machine, and a gym. The staff at UV is friendly and helpful. The community is great here and UV people organization events that are fun and also have some free food and booze 🍻... Hahaha, the best part lol... The people are nice here and apartments are clean and spacious. If you are a student coming to OSU you can totally go for UV as they also have a campus shuttle service from UV.

2022-01-03I’ve lived here for over a year and so far it has been a positive experience. The amenities are great, I mostly use the fenced in dog areas, the printer, the pool, and the gym. I also like that there’s fun events and free food sometimes. The leasing staff are really nice. Anna helped me out several times when I got confused about the lease and when I needed help with the printer. She’s super sweet and and very helpful! The maintenance staff have been pretty quick at fixing stuff. So far I only needed one of the stove tops fixed and a drain unclogged.

2021-09-27As a current resident at University Village, I was interested in examining this apartment complex’s measures of accessibility. Accessible handicap parking is directly in front of the Resident Life Center [photo 1]. This building is nicely done, it holds two levels with places to relax, study, and exercise. With this being a two-level complex, there is elevator access to the left [photo 2]. Both floors have various forms of seating: couches, lounge chairs, long tables with chairs, and a computer lab. Wheelchair accessible bathrooms are located on both floors, although, both required individuals to open heavy doors to enter, which could be difficult for some. The arrangement of seating allows spaces for wheelchair accessibility [photo 3] and the ends of the long table allow as well. There is also a nice coffee bar available for all residents. The high tabletop location makes it inaccessible for wheelchair-abled individuals [photo 4]. Although their Resident Life Center may have some accommodations, I have neglected to find any accommodations in terms of the apartments. The building I am in requires stairs to enter the building, and as soon as you enter, there is a staircase bringing you either up or down, no level apartments [photo 5]. I have yet to see any ramps either. The website reads to be handicap accessible but I was disappointed to see the online Accessibility Policy was blank.

2022-01-26University Village is a great place to live and I couldn’t be happier. My apartment is very nice and updated. Sam Wilson helped me with my lease and she was amazing! So friendly and helpful for my process of making a big move. She was able to answer any of the questions that I asked and made my move in process so easy.

2022-07-19You get what you pay for. But also, weve had a lot of not great experiences here during our lease.Know that the buildings are very old, weve had our ceiling collapse in our bathroom. Weve also had cockroaches even though we were very clean. Their gym is extremely small, and their equipment needs desperate cleaning. I never attended the pool, so Im not sure the quality of the pool.Overall, I look forward to moving out. But it is cheaper than most places.

2022-05-25NO stars! This place is somewhere we send our kids to live when they leave home for school and it is not worth your time or money! My daughter has been there for 2 years and has had mold in the walls and carpet multiple times from a leak upstairs in the neighbors apartment. Maintenance takes their sweet time and the manager, well lets just say if i had a dollar for everytime he was suppose to call me back her tuition would be paid in full. They charge a prorate to move in early but even if your lease is over on the 10th you are expected to pay the full month rent. This place is literally a joke.

2022-06-29Awesome off-campus place to live in Columbus. Apartments are good and clean. Hot water is available 24*7. The place is safe to live. Shuttles are also available to OSU.

2022-01-07I have lived here for 1,5 years, it was okay, and I like it overall. I really like living there for my first year, so I always recommend my friends live in UV! I convince five friends to live in UV! But I am disappointed by their referral promo program that they will give $600 to the person who refers to the new leaser. But then it was a digital balance to put on the resident portal, and it only can be used for paying rent. But they didn’t explain that to me. I have two friends who referred my name in their application in August 2021, but the “digital balance” never showed up till I called them four times, and it appeared by December 2021. However, I have to move and sublease my apartment by Jan 2022, so I couldn’t use that promo. The automatic system from the UV resident portal took my “digital balance” for January rent, but I have not lived there anymore. My ex-roommate helped me pay her half rent to me, but the subleaser didn’t want to pay me for her half rent. I was okay and didn’t blame the subleaser. I wish that UV could process the referral promo thing since August, so this won’t happen and become so complicated.

2022-01-07I went in for a tour and felt like I was at home. The staff was very comforting and Justin gave an amazing tour and was very knowledgeable. The property was kept very nice and in a great location near riverside hospital and The Ohio State University. Ended up signing a lease with them the following week!
