I am writing this review to help people who might be in the same situation I was when I arrived to Cleveland from Overseas.I lived at University Studios for 1 year, and I had the pleasure to deal with Kathie, who has been a terrific leasing manager for me. She helped me to move in my apartment on a Saturday because I didnt have other options.I have to say that previous reviews raised many problems that I think belong to a former management. You have to be realistic when you review a place based on the expectations, location and price. I felt safe living there, there are always security guards and the area is constantly under monitor surveillance (and considering you are going to live in Cleveland, you really need it).-The apartments are not suitable for families, but they are a very good option for single people or couples.-The kitchen is not huge. Therefore, if you love to spend hours in the kitchen, this is not your place.-The leasing office is efficient: when I moved in, my bathroom had issues. I reported the problem at 10 am, Kathie arranged maintenance to fix the problem for 6pm when I got back home. During my stay, the laundry facility was always functional. When 1 of the three elevators is not functional you can rely on the other one or two.- I never missed a parcel there. Parcels are safely stored and the security guard is always available to open the door for you to collect them after hours.- The building is centrally located. You can easily walk to the downtown area.- Driving distance from the Clinic and major attractions is very good.- The gym is always available.- This is a very A+++: the place is always perfectly clean, every single day I used to see the cleaning staff working , and actually cleaning every day PROPERLY. I used a bathroom in the lobby area once, and it was perfect (and trust me I have seen many places in my life..and the hygienic standards for many people are a relative concept....)In summary, my review is very positive. I lived in three different countries before moving to US, and I have to say that University Studios is not bad at all. I hope they will continue to improve. Apartments are not 5 star suites, but you know that since you are supposed to inspect the apartment before moving in.University Studios made my living experience stress-free and for me that was great.I will update this review to keep you posted on how long is going to take to receive my security deposit back as I recently moved out. This is a honest review, I have no affiliation with University Studios and I did not receive any discount or gift card.UPDATE May 31, 2016: I received the full refund from University Studios and they have been very honest because they also refunded half month for May because my unit was rented. I hope they will be working like this for a long time and their reviews will always be excellent.
I rented an apartment at University Studios for six months and overall Im satisfied with the experience. They state all utilities included and, unlike other apartment complexes, they didnt charge me for water or electricity overages out of nowhere. I had no problems with the cable and internet. Maintenance fixes problems in a fair amount of time. The walls are thick enough to mask most noise, sometimes youll hear music if theres a subwoofer. I did not experience any insect issues. Theres a nice exercise room and lounge area.My only complaints would be that the elevators break down regularly and are not fixed in a timely manner, and the parking lot is extremely dangerous in the winter when it is icy- taking into consideration that you pay $50 a month to park.I would recommend this place if you need a nice small place to live that is near downtown. The building manager is friendly and returns emails right away.
My daughter lives here an this place is TERRIBLE... This is her first apartment and when she moved in thing are supposed to be in working order but its not. I talked to the lady in the leasing office and everything was supposed to be taken care of and its not so of course she lied. The maintenance man is a joke my daughters stove still isnt fixed her air conditioning was supposed to be new when it was replaced only thing he did was go to another apartment and switched it. I would recommend no one to stay here i feel sorry for my child cause shes stuck in a lease.
BEWARE: IF IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, MOST OF THE TIME IT ISNT!!!!!!! Do not believe the recent positive reviews. I recently moved to Cleveland out of state, thinking this would be a great option living downtown. If you would like to live someplace safe and clean, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. I was patiently waiting for me to get my security deposit back before I came online to post a review. I do plan on coping and pasting this as many places as I can so no one has to go through the headache that I did.I only lived at University Studios for 2ish weeks and experienced so many problems.1. I put in a request for maintenance to change my lightbulb because it is wired in (??) and my toilet was flooding from the bottom. Maintenance tracked mud all through my place, all over my floor and bathtub.2. The air conditioning unit began leaking. I had to put towels underneath but the carpet was soaked the entire time. It was embarrassing when I had anyone over. Maintenance came in at the end to replace it and I made sure to be present due to the mud incident. He put the old AC unit on the floor and it left a sticky mess on the carpet. I then requested if someone could please clean the carpet because I tried scrubbing and it did nothing. Courtney said someone came in, but lol.3. The carpets are disgusting. You cant even see there are bugs because the color is a dark brown. The hallways always smell disgusting. Especially the elevators. People smoke and it was unfortunate to smell that when I would be in the kitchen area trying to prepare food to eat. I had scents near by door and also a fan, but it is just disgusting. I also tried putting towels underneath my front door.4. The mail is a joke. Staff leave early as well, so if the packages do get dropped off when they ARE there, they are brought inside and locked up. There have been many times I have came before 5 and there is no one there. If they arent present, the mail is left outside their door, for anyone to grab.5. I walked in one day and there were about 8 COCKROACHES on my wall. I began finding them in the kitchen and in the bathroom. I am a very, very clean and organized person. I barely had any belongings when I moved in regardless. Ive complained and they said they brought someone to spray, but said ultimately it could be because of my neighbors. This building is infested. Courtney offered to move me to the top floor for all the inconvenience I was experiencing, then the elevators stopped working LOL. Ignore the review about one always has to be working. It isnt reliable. Luckily I was on the second floor so moving out wasnt as bad.6. I dont feel safe. The parking gate was down numerous times. The back parking lot DOES NOT have a light!!! So I would be cautious when going out late because there will be random people walking around. One evening I had someone yell HEY aggressivley across the lot and I couldnt see anything. I ran to the door as quick as I could. That was really the final straw about living here. I was terrified.7. When I moved in the mini fridge was a block of ice. I had to blow dry and melt all the ice so I could use the fridge. It was the weekend when I moved in so I needed someplace to put my food... just very annoying. Nothing was ready for use. My toilet had piss all over it when I got there.8. I think everyone should know your door doesnt not have sturdy locks. You lock it from the inside on the knob.9. Cable is included, which thought would be a nice perk. When I moved in as well the cord was broken. I was directed that I had to drive to the spectrum location and get a new cord. I did... still connection was lost. I used vacation time, just starting my new position, to actually get anything resolved or to get answers. You dont get any updates on if anything was fixed. I feel like I was left in the dark.10. Laundry mat here will charge your card $7.00 per load and then clear after the next business day, only taking out the difference. Kinda annoying they didnt tell you that prior to moving in. Youre dealing with peoples money..
I have lived at University Studios for almost a year now and there hasnt been a moment that I havent loved it. The apartments may be on the small side but theyre cozy and everything is new and updated which is nice. The staff is absolutely wonderful and very understanding. Theyre always helpful and so friendly. The building is very secure so feeling unsafe is never an issue. Free parking is wonderful and though it may get crowded at times I have never had a problem finding a parking spot. The new gym and game room is a nice touch and I cant wait for the coffee shop downstairs to be finished. Then this building will be perfect!I would definitely recommend this building to anyone who is looking for a nice apartment downtown. You cant beat the price and the location is great!john yacovella apt 625
The studio I lived in was, of course, fairly small. I was a college student when I moved into the U.S. Apartments, so I did not worry very much about its dimensions. The only thing that really mattered to me was having a place close to Cleveland State University, having a place with well insulated walls, and having a place relatively affordable. During my one-and-a-half years there, I experienced a series of hits and misses in those categories. The room I lived in was, for the most part, large enough for my needs. I was able to squeeze a full-sized bed into the allotted bed space including a makeshift bed-stand. I was able to fit two dressers and a small writing desk into the living area space, including my bike. The bathroom was decently sized with a large marble counter-top and full-sized shower/tub.The kitchen was considerably smaller than everything else. It only accommodated a mini-fridge, a sink barely large enough to fit dinner plates, a microwave, an electric stove-top, and three cabinets spaced along the margins of the microwave and mini-fridge. I wasnt very thrilled about its proportions, but I was able to prepare and store most of my meals with the amenities provided. The walls were well insulated. They blocked most of the noises from neighbors unless their music was particularly loud or the residents were screaming at the top of their lungs. To be fair, most of the residents there are around twenty years of age, so noise will eventually, in some way, disturb most residents. The building itself is only about a five minute walk from Cleveland State University, so I never worried about getting to my classes on time. Despite not being on campus, the building is (relatively) safe. The gates to the parking lot sometimes got stuck, so non-residents would sometimes steal parking spaces. However, I did not have my car in Cleveland so it never was a problem for me.The entrances into the building are monitored by security cameras, but sometimes outsiders simply waited auspiciously for a resident to open the doors. A security desk is placed near the front of the building, but it is intermittently manned. Despite this, I never experienced any criminal activity inside or outside the building. The laundromat is somewhat lacking in quality washers and dryers. Unfortunately, there are only several washers and dryers in the laundromat, so after a while of heavy use, they break down. The management will happily refund you any money you lose, but be prepared to wait for available working units. The management was very reliable during my time at the U.S. Apartments. They responded to maintenance requests in a timely manner and kept the place fairly clean. The only thing that prevented me from re-signing was the steep price. I paid about $740 a month during my first 12 month, and I considered that as pretty expensive. When I received the new rates, I knew I could not live there much longer. Downtown living is very pricey. It is nice, but it is an expense I could not afford. University Studio Apartments was a decent place to live. Thanks to the staff for great service!
This review is intended to sincerely reflect my experience living at University Studios in hopes to inform prospective residents. I did not have a good experience living here. The ventilation system is horrible. The maintence guys were amazing and very helpful. However, the management was very unprofessional and careless. The Internet never works and as a student that is unfair and the biggest inconvience ever. We were without Internet access (which they advertise as free and included aka we pay for in rent) for 7 months. The security guard was very unprofessional. He was rarely at his desk and has personal relationships with residents. To add, he hangs out in their rooms and goes to bars to drink with them. He gossips and tells all of the residents business. When I first moved there he would come in the conference room where I was studying or in the workout room just to talk about people. It has been bought to management attention but they continue to keep him on board because they gossip and share information with each other as well. When I first moved in my carpet was dirty I asked for them to clean it and they denied my request. Along with that , there is always a bad smell in the halls no matter how often maintenance clean up (Do to poor ventilation). I did not feel secure there and it is not a place I suggest you sign over a year lease. It seems like a great deal for students because its in a very convenient area. However living there with all its inconvenience ( cafe food is terrible, elevator is always broke, the smell, cant breathe in room, dim dark lights, very small place, no oven, mini fridge, unprofessional staff, management that tells you ANY just to pacify you for the moment) made me realize that I could of had a better experience from another apartment that wasnt so money hungry. This is my experience, my truth. Best wishes if you still chose to live there.
Ive lived downtown for about 4 years now at a few different places and by far, my experience here with management and security at University Studios have been the most professional and immediate. Communication with staff is always accessible when I need help and staff has been nothing less than friendly towards myself and my neighbors.Katie is constantly putting her residents first and works hard to make sure our experience here is positive and comfortable. She cooperates with us and her efforts are genuine when addressing our concerns and needs. Katie does her job well and goes above and beyond to keep her property running smoothly. As a young female who lives by herself, Ive never felt unsafe during my stay here and the security at University definitely has an effective presence. Officer Mark is someone I trust and he genuinely cares about the safety of the residents here. Mark is always on top of things and he is very much respected and valued here in our community.
Ive lived at the University Studios for two years now and price wiseI its about the same as many places that are decent and in this area. If you want somewhere a bit more reasonable youd have to live a bit further out of the city but for a place that is right in the city and next to Cleveland State I guess this place is fair. My living experience here wasnt terrible. Some of the things I really liked were how the people in the office and maintenance people tended to your needs really quickly. If something was wrong it would get fixed within the day or the very next day. Its also a convenient location if you attend CSU and they also have a workout place here which is nice. Parking my car here I also felt safe because its gated and they have cameras throughout the building inside and outside. My only complaints would be that since these arent big spaces you can often hear everything that is going on around you and to a degree your neighbors can become quite annoying. A lot of people are also young adults so they can be noisy as well with disregard to others. Sometimes the laundry machines dont work and ventilation during the winter can also be a problem. I found myself having to buy a portable heater. During the time that I have lived here Ive also heard of three bed bug stories.
My top advice is that you will not be happy if you are not assertive. You will frequently need to voice your concerns and be persistent if you want change. The management in my experience was quick to help try to fix situations, if they knew of them. The unit (#620) was the smallest unit. I paid $740 + $12 for insurance. The kitchen is really small and lacks a dishwasher/oven. However, a mini-fridge did come included even though it had very little freezer space, it worked fine. The sink was really tiny and made washing dishes a challenge. The microwave they provide is pretty good quality and I was happy with it. The microwave light went once, but it was promptly replaced. There are three small cabinets for storage. Overall, the kitchen is easy to keep clean, small, but manageable for a college student. A large plus is the marble countertop (also in the bathroom). The bathroom was appropriate size with nice tile, shower, and counter tops. The only downside here was there was no storage under the sink/counter, so be prepared to bring some. The toilet backed up a couple times, but it was again promptly fixed. I never had an issue with the tub/shower, and always had hot water if needed. However, the tub did not come with a plug, so if you wanted to take a bath you had to be innovative. The closet when I walked in was really tiny, so don’t expect to hang a lot of clothes or use it for storage. However, the double mirror doors were a nice touch. One thing I really liked about the apartment was that the walls/door provided very good noise cancellation. The building was only about a 5 minute walk to CSU’s campus, and it felt relatively safe. The security guards, however, always worried me. They seldom paid attention and it felt like they were there just to play a part in making you think you were safe. I would doubt their ability to do anything in a situation to be honest. I never experienced any sort of criminal activity in or around the building, but would air on the side of caution when traveling to it at night. I would call an escort from CSU police or carry pepper-spray.I never used the laundry, so I cannot talk about that. The BEST part about my room was the view. I faced downtown and was on the sixth floor, so it was very beautiful. I would definitely talk about what your view would be like should you decide to lease here. One concern is that the coffee shop that used to be part of the first floor appeared to be out of business. I rarely used it to be honest, as it was rather pricey, but it definitely added to the place. The parking was never really an issue, however, I did notice one week that a car or two had been broken into, but that was my only experience with that in the whole year. Just do not be stupid/leave things in sight. I was annoyed that they only had 3 official guest spots, which is troublesome if you are trying to have friends over. The elevators were frequently broken (however, there was always one working, so it was not a huge deal). Furthermore, the gym is kind of a joke, but satisfactory. Also, the game room was never used, so now it is just an empty room (not sure what their plans are for that). When I moved in there was a horrible smell on my floor, but management took care of it (someone’s room reeked). Also, the carpet on the floor I was on was in bad shape. I made a comment about it and soon after they did carpet cleaning. The internet was sufficient, and I never had any issues. I was never worried about missing a package or anything like that if it was sent. The mail room was often in disarray though. One complaint I had consistently was the smell of smoke and weed smell that would sometimes frequent the complex. In conclusion, I would only rent again from here if I were given a room with a similar view I had… and the rent was significantly cheaper – to reflect what you were getting unless they make improvements (no more than $600 is fair). Overall 3.5/5.
This is the worst apartment and company you can find. My boyfriend lives in University Studios and its been nothing but issues.-The elevators are almost always broken...probably relating to elevator certificates that are 2 years expired.-The gate has been broken multiple times and Ive seen non-residents walking into the parking lot making it feel very unsafe at night.-The shower has been broken for at least 6 months and theyve fixed it twice and have never come back the third time (still waiting after requesting maintenance online and in the office multiple times in 3 months). One of the times it was fixed, the apartment door was left open the rest of the week while no one was home.-Office hours are listed as 9-6 but theres been no one in the office most hours for the last few weeks and the office manager rarely stays til 6 anyway.-The gym is a joke with broken equipment and the temperature is way too hot to make it conducive to work out. Theres also no way to sanitize the equipment after use.-Car has been hit once and the window smashed another time but there was nothing [they] could do because their security cameras are too low quality.-24 hour security was cut.-Got new devices and didnt have the wifi password to connect anymore and the office manager couldnt find what it was so guest wifi is all that works.-The company doesnt care about any issues anytime you call and many times there is no answer when you call their office.
I stayed in US for 10 months from Nov 2015-August 2016. I am giving it 2 stars just or the fact that the first few months were good. Under the management of property manager Katie , the place was great. Small but still felt homie . She would treat us like family and would try her best to fix any problem to the best of her abilities. We had security from 5pm - 3am and I agree the laundormat had issues but she was on top of things until she left. The place became miserable. The new property manager was rude and verbally abusive, mail would be left on the floor until we brought it up, the laundromat became a disaster always broken . one time it flooded with my clothes , and the coin machines never worked and so they stopped responding to complaints about it anyways! They cut down security it started from 9p.m - 2am ! Which is contradictory to what our leases said. Then we went through a series of security officers who kept quitting, none of which were up to the previous standards. The parking door kept breaking down and if it did get fixed it would be for a day or two and again broken down ! Speak about the 50$ parking charge? If the door is open and everyone can walk in or out what is the point ( Katie with the security officer used to keep a guest car log which disappeared when the new management took over). The whole security plan was ruined. The last month I stayed a new property manager came who seemed genuine and nice but I did not have the opportunity to experience management her way. I got my security deposit back subtracted from it were 45$ for carpet cleaning !!! This is a 314 square studio which is not all carpeted ! I left it vacummed and disinfected I was not told about the fee nor was I sent a bill, it just said carpet cleaning 45$ !! What 300sq costs 45$ ? It is both dishonest and deceiving.Worth mentioning are the two fantastic maintenance men Luis and Ramon they are great people and try to accommodate us. Unfortunately, their great effort cannot compensate for terrible management. They have hiked up the rent.I would not recommend the Studios to anyone anymore. The only reasons I give it 2 stars is for Katie. It is expensive for the size and the management became superbly disappointing. I would strongly recommend you find other studios in downtown which are either cheaper or a bit pricier but with better well better everything !! Take your money and go somewhere else.In response to the reply. I checked my lease . Noting about carpet cleaning. I also checked local rates and it would have been way cheaper. I have the paper work from when I moved in it says nothing as such. You guys have been having the same issues so instead of saying you will look into it actually do something about ! Its dishonest to not disclose a fee you KNOW you will be collecting and not giving us an option to sort it ourselves.M
Im sorry to give that revision. However, I consider it important to let people know about this building. I have lived here for more than 2 years and half. At the beginning everything was OK. But then everything started to fail. Washing machines out of order, dryer machines out of order (sometimes after washing, you have to comeback with all your clothes wet), elevator out of order (sometimes keeping people inside), internet disconnections, fire alarms not well calibrated. I remembered how I loved to live here, but not anymore. I am moving in the next days.
Initially, I was skeptical when I read old reviews about University Studios. However--as I approach one full year as a resident--I have nothing but good things to say about my apartment, the management, and security. The people in the management office are almost always there, and they even know my name and apartment number simply by recognizing my face. In the winter, I thought my apartment was unusually cold--I didnt say anything about it--but as the handyman was repairing the heat in the apartment next to mine, he thought to check my heat, thinking that I may have similar problems. In doing this, he found that my apartments heat was not working to full capacity and instantly fixed my problem. As for the rest of the staff, the security guards all take their jobs very seriously, but also know how to stay positive and friendly in what is certainly a monotonous job. The two gentlemen who clean the building and aid in repair work both work with vigor and take pride in keeping University Studios functioning properly. One time, they even helped jump-start my cars battery that died in the parking lot. If I were to complain about anything, I would complain about the limited capacity of the laundry room when some machines are out of service. Every once in a while, a pungent marijuana smell is noticeable on some floors; however, the smell usually restricts itself to the hallways. The management constantly struggles with adopting a coherent guest-vehicle policy; however--for now at least--any abuse of policy has not created issues with finding parking. Also, University Studios proximity to the healthline bus stop should not be understated (literally right in front of the building). I am a Case Western Law student; and during the school year, I hop on the healthline and arrive on the CWRU campus in approximately 20 minutes. I have lived on Cases campus in the past, and I am not exaggerating when I say that my commute time to class stayed about the same because--if you live on the opposite side of campus--youll be walking 20 minutes to get to class anyway. The healthline goes right down the center of campus, a short distance to most all classes and buildings.
Great apt, and great location. My friend just moved here and she loves it. The space and rent amount was exactly what she wanted. Staff was very helpful and made her feel right at home. Thank you University Studios and staff for welcoming her to Cleveland with open arms.
ROACHES. ROACHES. MORE ROACHES.I would not recommend anyone living here. This apartment is infested with roaches. The management is poor and is only in the office a few days a week. If you have a problem on Thursday you have to wait until the following Tuesday to hear anything back. Pest control takes forever to respond to a complaint about roaches and their traps do not work. Two days after pest control came I saw baby roaches in the apartment, meaning they were just born. Ive seen multiple roaches in the hallways of the apartment complex. On top of the disgusting cockroaches the elevators are frequently broken. The laundry room only has a few washers and dryers that actually work and every other machiene just eats your money. You can also only receive packages on certain days of the week when someone is in the office. It is very inconvenient.
I have lived at University Studios since May of 2015. I also had many ups and downs living here.Ill start with the negative:The rent is very expensive for such small spaces. There is no reason for a 300 sq. foot apartment to be $680 a month. Also, the elevators are always breaking, the ventilation in the building isnt the greatest, the opening AND closing gates are always broken and/or screeching loud, (and why is it $50 to just park your car here?) the carpet is like the outdoor, uncomfortable type and is dirty, the internet used to be horrible, but has gotten better after the property manager, Katie, worked really hard to get it fixed, the laundry room machines are no good, they are always broken and eat your quarters, the mini refrigerators seems to have only one setting, which is either having it freeze your food or melt your ice cream, and the fact the thermostats are broken is a tad frustrating. The last things that really gets to me (and is a poor reflection of how the business is ran) are the owners of this building. As I walked to get my mail one day, the owner passed by. Didnt say one word to me, didnt ask how things were going here, didnt even acknowledge me or do anything that a real owner should ask their residents. All Im saying is that I hope these issues change in the near future.Okay, now on to the positive.I have had the privilege to speak to Katie on a couple of occasions to get packages and such. She is not only a FULL-time property manager, but also a FULL-time student at CSU! I told her theres no way I could pull that off!She works really hard to keep this place in the best shape as she possibly can. She is always there for her residents and resolves issues in a timely manner. You can also tell shes a hard worker simply by the fact she gets here early and stays late all the while going to school. My friend, whom does not even live here, got his vehicle broken into, and Katie did everything she could to catch this guy but also get his items back! She didnt even have to do that. The property is very lucky to have her. She is a sweetheart, indeed!Good luck to all who choose University Studios as their new or current home.
Just moved in on the first of the month. The staff was so friendly on my tour and the studios felt so cozy I had to make this place my first home!! Every time I go into the office or see the staff in the hallway I am greeted with a smile and worm wishes for the day!! 😊 thank you university studio staff for welcoming me!!!
Pro: close to Cleveland State and downtownCons: the washers suck and only half of them work. The dryers arent great either. Theres always one elevator out of order. The manager leaves too early. Security is only there from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. The fire alarm goes off pretty much everyday, sometimes multiple times. Whenever security or the manager isnt there (from like 5pm to 9pm M-F and all day weekends) the fire department has to come and turn off the alarm. I personally dont have roaches (I put baking soda down which kills them) but i have heard a few people say they do. I personally dont think its worth the price. But if you can look past all of that, this is a great place for you.
I used to live here until last year. The most careless and apathetic management ever. My bike was stolen from the bike room. They did not care when I told them and said a lot of other people also lost their bikes from the same room. It was locked and inside the special room that is for bikes. This room is inside the building on the ground floor which means nobody without an access key should be able to get in. So either one of the residents stole it or their security system sucks so bad that someone from outside came in and stole it. This happened just before I moved after living there for 2 years. I was a good resident and had never once failed paying my rent on time for 2 years.
It was hell living in an apartment infested by ROACHES, crawling all over the place, even on top of my bed! Check out the pictures I posted of the roaches.Would you live in a place like this?I gave proper written notice to the landlord to resolve the issue, more than 30 days passed and the issue was never resolved. The management team did not care one bit about me, all they did was to try to cover up the issue.Having roaches in my unit was far the worst issue I had there, but there were other issues worth mentioning too while I am at it: the elevators and the washing machines were frequently out of service, sewage problems, and real hypocrisy from the management team.BEWARE of signing a contract with this company.
You are looking at this and see wow- free gym?- Laundry in the same building?- Security 24/7?except that-most equipment doesnt work and very poor air circulation and bad smell-security guy leaves at 2 am , they have cameras but lots of car trunks were open in morning-laundromats constantly break down and bring extra coins! Because you will need to keep moving your laundry in a wakamole style game to find out which laundromat or dryer works-Water leaking above the floor when you try to shower above? Hope its not someones piss! For a whole year they try to patch it up and it would leak a week later without trying to find a permanent solutionNow you are thinking oh wow ok well rent is not to steep and its downtown so....well good luck sleeping with the freaking fire alarm going off in the middle of the night for 2 hrs!!! Hopefully you dont have mid terms because University Studios does not give a flying duck!-Oh and they will also charge you for cleaning carpet, microwave and electric stove even if you clean every 2 weeks through out your stay and vacuum the floor...so if you gonna stay here live like a homeless and piss allover the carpet cuz they will charge you for cleaning anyway!
The best thing about living at University studios was the free internet and how close it was to campus. The negatives include them blaming its tenants for faulty old building problems. The building has a history of sewage problems. Overflowing sinks, toilets, shower. However, they will not hesitate to note that you as a tenant did something to intentionally disturb the quality of living for yourself and other residents. Im a Cleveland State University graduate, with a degree in economics. And my biggest college regret is leasing with University Studios!
Very unprofessional management!!! Office manager Jasmin has no authority . she is nothing but a answering service and her superviser Melanie and the superviser manager Michael are never in !!!!its not just that !! its over priced!! Starting $600 for the smallest unit they have with all the disadvantages., like the free WIFI internet that they offer is soo poor in Signal that you cant even use your computer. the Suites are very small . bathrooms have no ventilation!! the kitchenette is not useable . there is a 10 wide sink that you cant even wash a pot there and mini frige that doesnt even cool any thing down. if you rent you have to just microwave your food or eat out!in Winter the apartments are cold you need to use a space heater but every apartments has just 20 Amp total so you can have your space heater and microwave and your TV on the same time ! if you rent on north sude of the building The HWY noise is unbearable and you cant sleep!! if you have apartments on south side the street noise and the gate will keep you up!!i havent seen bedbugs . but i heard some units they have!!the first floor is clean . but bad smell is killing you in elevators..
My husband and I wanted a environment that was kozy cute and close to downtown and we are happy to say we found that here. The staff are welcoming and try to work with you to make sure your stay is nice ... I would tell you more but u can see for yourself... Thumbs up ....

2022-07-02If youre looking for a space for yourself, you wouldnt go wrong with University Studios! Its definitely on the smaller side (I had the Freshman apartment), but, as I mentioned, this is a good place if youre riding solo! What sold me was having all the utilities included in the rent!

2017-11-17I chose this apartment because the rent covers many thing. Depending on the location of your room, it can be very noisy (nearby the streets). The room is warm and bathroom is okay in term of hot water. But, overall it is not worthy! The treadmill in the gym is only display purpose. Never turn on. Never operated (Asked the issue in both email and office visit). The kitchen is tiny. One elevator sometimes does not work without a reason. Lucky that I live in near stairways. Not only this, the staff in the office does not reply back to my email. Before the contract is signed, the response is quick but after that, it seems no care! Poor management!

2021-05-24I just moved in on 5/15 and I absolutely love my studio, the staff, and amenities they offer. It is so conveniently located to all the interstates, gas stations, downtown, CSU and more. You cant beat the price or location. The kitchen is tiny but for someone who works all the time, its perfect. Maintenance personnel are great too. When you have questions or need something done they are always there. Great job and keep up the good work!

2019-11-11Courtney is the BEST!! She’s always there to answer any questions or concerns the tenants may have. She takes her time to make sure you feel super comfortable. I love love love my apartment!!!! Super affordable and close to the nightlife events!!! I have privacy and feel safe with the gated entrance and exit.We also have security watch every night. My neighbors keep to themselves and don’t pry. I also find the gym and the lounge space as a bonus! When I have friends or family over and I need more room, the lounge space on the 1st floor has 2 couches a table a pool table and a tv. So it’s great for small parties or football watch party!!!!!!! There’s also a conference room for studying.

2020-05-08I lived here for about four years throughout my college career at CSU. It terms of location is was great very close to campus and the rest of downtown. The maintenance staff Louis and Ramon are absolutely wonderful. All the amenities being included in the price was nice too. Outside of that though it was not great place to live. The new property manger is rude. You will find your occasional roach from time to time. At one point we had mice in our apartment. There are 3 elevators in the building and each of them break down constantly. The back gate for the parking lot breaks down very frequently too. The fire alarm goes off quite often too and sometimes in the middle of the night. Someone smashed my trucks window to steal the change I had in there. The parking lot cameras were down at that time being so nothing could be done and I had to pay to replace my window. When I was in the process of moving out somebody broke into my apartment and stole stuff. I know that other tenants have had several packages stolen that they had shipped there. (Luckily for me I was able to have my packages shipped somewhere else because I did not trust this place) Its not the safest place to live. I will say the locks on the doors are not the greatest. And it always smells like weed. I would recommend choosing somewhere else to live if possible

2020-09-14You cannot beat the location. It’s mintues to downtown easy access to major freeways. Maintenace is always busy and friendly. They work at another property down the road so they are here every other day. Ms. Francesca is always friendly and never rushes you out the office when you have a question or concern. There’s laundry on site, a game room and conference room that is available to the residents. It’s also a secured building and gated parking lot which is helpful. Plus all the utilities are included!! What more can you ask for?! I absolutely recommend University Studios.

2019-11-07This apartment building is great. It does have issues just like every other apartment buildings (things fail). As for what the other reviewer said, Ive never had a problem with the fire alarm system. Everytime there has been any chance of fire, its gone off consistently, as is expected from fire alarm systems. I am thrilled at the updates they have been making. Theyve added more consistent security. They are in the process of getting new washers and dryers. The sewage smell another reviewer mentioned was not a sewer smell, but a smell caused by washers breaking down (backed up water) and was not a very strong smell at all. You would not have noticed it unless you were near the laundry room. As stated previously, they are getting new washers and dryers so this will no longer be an issue. Out of 3, elevators one has worked (with only the occasional breakdown, which they fix asap in order to stay in accordance with ADA law). Theyve been extremely accommodating in assisting me and my handicapped ward get down the stairs whenever that elevator hasnt been working. They are also in the process of getting new elevators. Maintenance has been great in making timely repairs when needed. Theyve also added a garbage pickup service which is a much appreciated service for the caretaker of a disabled individual. Last but not least, the fitness room is a great addition. I often go downstairs and run on the treadmill. Unlike another previous reviewer said, the two treadmills I have used, have worked. Personally, I use the fat burning program when performing a run on it. They also have elliptical machines, stationary bikes, and hand weights. Edit: 11/7/2019 After 3 years of living here, I am still satisfied. Maintenance is still on top of any issues that arise. Parking lot is well lit at night. Management works hard to keep the hallways clean. Staff are very professional. Management is very responsive whenever I report any issue, including any that arise with other tenants (a very rare occurrence). They also take the safety of tenants seriously. If you are the type that does not cause issues for other tenants and keeps your living area clean, you will experience a wonderful living arrangement close to downtown. Building is also a secure building which requires a key fob to enter (only issued to residents).

2020-09-18I find University Studios to be an awesome place to live. It is a diverse living community with many amenities to make your life comfortable and entertaining. It has a conference room, game room, exercise room and a whole lot more. I even found the building manager to be a polite and professional lady with a friendly spirit who I have observed to be concerned about her building and her residents which makes this place a Great place to live.

2021-08-22Francesca was great! She was able to find an available studio earlier than my original move in date, which is exactly what I wanted. The move in process was easy and everything was ready for me when I arrived on move in day.
