Ive lived at the courtyards for 2 years and I can say my favorite part about it is the staff, theyre super friendly and maintenance typically responds in a timely manner. Overall its not the greatest apartment in the world, but its not the worse either so Id call it decent.
I love staying here. So glad I can stay here while I do my masters at the school. Living here is the best place to be while going to school because it is on campus so everything is near by to you. Marissa is the best management she gets to know everyone by their first name and if you ever have a issue she resolves it as soon as she can. Would recommend to anyone that is going to school here.
I have had such wonderful experiences talking with staff and management about living there. They are all so kind! It’s a beautiful apartment building. When I toured, I fell absolutely in love. It’s very clean, had nice amenities, and felt like a home. If I decide to come back to YSU after I finish the nursing program I am in to grow my education, this is definitely where I will be wanting to stay!
Over the two years living at the yards, Ive learned to have the independent lifestyle of the college experience while having an apartment to share with my closest friends. Im so glad I went with these apartments due to the ease of rent, no surprise charges, new appliances, and a staff who cares for their residents! I hope whoever reads this will know that its a great place to live out your college days!!
I lived at the University Courtyards for 4 years and while I was here they were always looking for ways to improve and make the best experience for everyone. Before the pandemic they had various events for everyone they had special events for the first week of class, holidays like Christmas and Halloween and a week long event for finals week. They upgraded our appliances and floors and light fixtures. They send out surveys a lot to see how they can improve themselves better. I enjoyed my time at the courtyards and would recommend to any YSU student looking for a place to call home
Not too happy with my time living here, i had 3 other roommates my first time here at the courtyards. I was moved and my second round of roommates were also okay. However, my one roommate had gotten tested for covid and the courtyards didn’t even reach out to tell me or my other roommate, so i found that odd. Then i was charged for a new full set of keys although even though my car was broken into so i had no control over that. Now, i’m trying to sublease my apartment to someone else but i find it a tad bit unfair that the courtyards isn’t willing to help when i’m sure they have a waitlist but who knows.
The courtyards is a nice place to live while at YSU. It gets you more privacy and more space then living in a dorm. They always put on activities for the residents which is always nice. The washers and dryers dont always work which can be frustrating when you try to do laundry. I dont believe they pay much attention to matching you with roommates, while I havent had too many large issues with roommates, I think that I would enjoy it more if I had a roommate more like me.
I am sad that my time at the Courtyards is ending. I’ve made connections with other residents and even the staff. I want to give a special thank you to April and Marissa, they are literally the backbone of UC at Youngstown. You need something done? Call either one of them. April has even helped me with personal issues and has always taken the time out to make sure I am doing well. Marissa goes above and beyond to help with all leasing issues. She helped me find a four bedroom apartment, a two bedroom apartment and even helped with finding me a lease relet. They really care about the students and making the living experience a great one. Every month there’s an activity planned. There’s food, games, tea and talk and much more. UC Courtyards wouldn’t be UC Courtyards without April and Marissa.
Way too overpriced for what you pay. I pay the same amount per month for a larger 1 bedroom with my own bathroom, living room, and kitchen than I did to share with roommates. Maintenance calls are not responded to quickly and staff lost several of my work orders. I also had a washing machine break on my three times which is hugely inconvenient. The lint catchers in the dryers are needed to be replaced due to neglect but never were and always left lint on my laundry. The wall are very thin and you hear almost everything other residents are doing. I also never felt fully safe in the halls or outside due to the frequent cat calling from other residents. The swipe card system they use is beyond flawed. My card deactivated at once a week leaving me to have to wait sometimes up to an hour for someone to let me in and lecture me about keeping my card away from my keys, phone, and other cards (which it was always kept separate and was a major inconvenience because it couldnt be kept in my wallet or in my purse due to that). Management is very petty and catty. They do not have the best interest of the students at heart and just want profit. They never cared that my room had no wifi signal, roommate issues, and how snobby their staff was. Worst place Ive ever lived at by far, anyone looking to live here should seriously consider living university edge or downtown if they have to live on campus. If you can live with a short drive, look at off campus apartments.
I have lived here for almost 2 years and regret renewing my lease for this upcoming year. I contemplated moving out and was informed that even though my new lease is not in effect until August, Im still unable to break the lease unless I myself find a replacement even though rooms have yet to be assigned for new residents. My room is repeatedly barged into for inspections without any warning, multiple appliances have broken this year and my plumbing is seemingly useless. My account with the building has been malfunctioning for months and I go days without knowing a package has arrived. I wish I had known Id be paying an arm and leg for this experience before moving in.
Visited friends at the yards all the time. Always seemed so kept up and safe in the buildings. My friends talked highly of the apartments and would try and get me to apply all the time. If I wasnt a commuter and lived so close to campus I would definately of applied to live there.
Words could not put to justice at how poor this place is. Cheap appliances and furnishings. Managers are more than unprofessional with terrible attitudes. For the price and lack of privacy (since lack of a 24 hour notice and barging into someones home is OK there without knocking), youre better off finding a different apartment outside of Youngstown State. Do not waste your time or money. They may seem nice at the beginning, but it is their jobs to con people in for their money. Worst experience I had at an apartment complex (student housing or not).
I have worked with April to get volunteers from the honors program to help out at St. Vincent Depaul. The young ladies that are coming to help out have been a great help and a pleasure to work with. April has also been a great help to me in many different ways. Sending students down to shop and promoting our store. She has great enthusiasm and a great love for what she does. Thanks
We had a repair man come in and he was very personable and honest. They responded fairly quickly to our requests. The Internet is inconsistent. I experience occasional disconnections and severe patches of lag on PS4. The appliances are all satisfactory. The rooms with one window are super bleak. Everything is covered in an oppressive white monotone color. Maybe its just me, but it makes the place kind of dreary. So far, the place isnt bad. Maybe itll grow on me.EDIT: The fire alarm is the same thing they use to torture people in military prisons. Its absurdly, painfully, relentlessly loud. Even if you are a resident with a hearing disability you would feel this thing vibrate your teeth. Ive experienced more false alarms than tests at this point. Its ridiculous.
Was barged in on too many times to count with no warnings and room gets messed up. They told us to reset our keys the same day they finally fixed all the doors but I was at work all day and got back late to a key that didnt work which was great. Paying for a parking pass just to live here in the summer is also ridiculous.
Poor Customer Service. One of the persons in the lease office was rude when I called and inquired about my lease agreement and she only replied to my email after I sent several reminders.Being an international student and new to US and YSU, they should understand my status care to provide genuine support. Not worth even one star - highly disappointed.I decided to go for other options available Uni Edge is excellant
They cant get their fire alarms under control. Several times a week, they go off over nothing. Its nice that they provide appliances, but the appliances arent very good. Most CAs (basically just RAs) are good, but they do nothing about the ones that allow the miniscule amount of power go to their heads.

2022-02-08I have lived at the Courtyards for three years and it truly has been an incredible experience. The staff is very professional and always greets you with a smile. Miss April is always ready to lend a listening ear and shell make sure you leave her office with a smile on your face. Marissa is very informative and sweet. The newest addition, Liza has been a great addition to the team. Her personality is my favorite thing about her. I will truly miss living here, living here has brought me lots of peace as well as lots of laughs and memories that will last a life time.

2022-02-16I have lived in the courtyards for two years now and for the most part have had a pleasant experience. You really cannot beat the price compared to the other apartments on campus. Especially since you can use scholarship money to pay for it. The staff is also prompt in answering our requests, including maintenance requests. I wish the kitchen had more storage, but we bought a shelving unit that helped out a lot. For a college student, this is a great place to live on campus.

2022-02-16I love the courtyards! The staff and the environment are so positive! They host movie nights, lots of activities, and even get Chic-Fil-A for everyone! The apartments are super nice and are just enough room for me and my roommate! I love having a kitchen to cook and my own bathroom! I also have a super great roommate :)

2022-02-25My daughter lived in a 4 bedroom , 2 bath floor plan and loved it! We were very happy to hear that financial aid and honors scholarships were able to be applied toward the rent. I would highly recommend living at the Courtyards while attending YSU. Maintenance is always helpful and quick to complete service requests. While touring and helping my daughter move in on move-in day, the management team was amazing!

2022-03-04This is my first year at the courtyards and I have truly loved being here. My apartment is almost like my home away from home. The staff at the courtyards are always so polite, friendly, informative, and helpful! Not to mention, the price of the courtyards is amazing compared to any other apartment complex on or near campus. I love that they have parking, have fun games on instagram, give out free Chick-fil-A, and have other fun and cute activities to do that can help you make friends :) The only thing I am not a big fan of is how small the kitchen is and the new locks on the doors. However, it is truly a great place to stay and overall well worth every penny 😁

2022-02-15I lived at the University courtyard apartments for two years! It was an amazing experience for staff maintenance and everything in between was great. They offered free food and whenever you had a problem via maintenance whether it was your air-conditioning broke or dishwasher wasn’t working they were on top of it and fix it right away I would highly recommend to any YSU students to live at the University for yours!

2022-04-01I have lived at the courtyards for 2 years now and it’s a great place to live. It’s a great price compared to some of the other apartment by campus. The staff is also very nice and can answer you question promptly. The only things are the kitchen is kind of small and the wifi has some problems sometimes otherwise it’s great.

2022-02-28The Courtyards is a nice place to live. The staff is super nice and helpful. I have lived here for a year or so and I have nothing but praise for it. The apartment is super comfortable and cozy and it is in walking distance from campus. Totally recommend this place!
