Jen Emahiser is a kind and compassionate person and therapist. So happy to hear that she has assumed the position of Senior Clinical Director at the BG office. Unison is fortunate to have her in a leadership role!!

Dont waste your time here.To say I am disappointed in my services is an understatement. I am a non-binary transgender person, which is a major part of why I sought mental health services in the first place. From day one at Unison, I was deadnamed and misgendered countless times even though I was very clear about my name and pronouns. I am understanding that my legal name must be used for prescriptions and such, but I should NOT be greeted as such when I have made it clear that I am transgender and am uncomfortable with that name.At my intake appointment, the psychologist made me highly uncomfortable with the way he asked questions. He also made assumptions about my gender and pronouns when I told him I was having top surgery soon. From a mental health professional, that is unacceptable. And even on my third time in the building, the nurse and psychiatrist greeted me with my deadname and I had to correct them. To me, this insinuates they do not even know who I am, to not know what my name is. This is also really upsetting, given that there is a transgender ally sign displayed in the lobby. Putting up a sign does not make an institution or its workers allies--their actions do. This sign is giving the false assumption that the employees at this branch know how to handle transgender clients, when clearly this is not a safe space for transgender people. My final straw was when I was trying to get my most recent prescription refill. I was leaving for my top surgery in two days, and was going to be out of state for two weeks. I was due for a refill of my prescription, and received a call from my pharmacy explaining they were still waiting on the doctor to refill my prescription. They instructed me to call my doctor, so I tried. I called the branch numerous times and no one answered, so I finally just went in person to find multiple employees sitting around, yet not answering the phone. I was told that the nurse wasnt in but that I could call and leave a message. Why I could not speak to my psychiatrist directly, I will never understand.Nonetheless, I left a voicemail with the nurse. Over 24 hours later, one day before I left for surgery, I still had no response or answers. I called and left another message. Later, I received a rude voicemail from the nurse. She said that the doctor had already refilled my prescription a while ago, and accused me of not calling my pharmacy directly before calling her repeatedly. I called my pharmacy to clarify, and was told that the doctor had just called the refill in moments before I called. So essentially my own nurse was gaslighting me and trying to blame me for not having my prescription on time, when in reality the doctor was just late sending in the refill request.I am done with services at Unison and have switched to another facility. In my first appointment at the new facility, I have already spent more one-on-one time with my doctor than I did in two months at Unison and was not deadnamed or misgendered a single time. Unison is supposed to help people with their mental health, but my experience did nothing but cause me stress and anxiety.

I cant speak for other people and their experiences with BG Unison but without the people who work here I wouldnt be where I am today. These people care. All of them. If you are willing to help yourself they will help you along the way. They went above and beyond to go to the board to help with my meds and appts. Judge for yourself. Dont let others opinions keep you from trying Unison for yourself. Best decision Ive ever made

Staff was nothing but rude. Councilor zoned out and forgot what was going on. No one came back to schedule a next appointment after waiting 15 minutes then was told to leave and just come back later. Extremely unprofessional.
