We have heard mixed reviews about this place and finally decided to try it out ourselves. It was good, the waitress was friendly. The kitchen does seem to run slower than one would like especially during a lunch break. We didnt have a chance to try the beer this time. Sandwiches were fine. I would prefer an old fashioned hamburger with a better prepared and cooked patty vs. a dressed up hamburger with kale on it with a thin overcooked patty. The fresh cut fries were very well cooked. It is a nice atmosphere. I would have to agree that more thought is put into the beer than the food. I think that if you go in with the expectation that this is a bar and will serve you bar food, you will be satisfied. But currently there are better and faster places to go for a sandwich. I do want to point out that they also have a small kids menu which is nice. We will definitely try it again as it gets more established and then update our review. I think that all of us local people are rooting for them and want them to get better and succeed!Update: We went back. My husband this time tried out the beer. Which liked. He will have to review that part. We had the two hamburgers on the menu. The UBC came without the bacon and the egg was pretty overcooked. Fries were still very good. The pork slider looked great. I would say that this place is not quite ready to be called a restaurant. Its a bar, with bar food. I would totally come here for a flight and a plate of fries. But that is it for now.
Oh-my-goodness, I cant say Ive had better service before, just amazballs. Our server knew the beers and could explain them. Was able to get our orders correct even with a bunch of changes from the menu, and with all our questions and quirks I know she still had a smile on her face, even though it was hidden behind a mask. The experience was terrific. My only regret is that I didnt get her name, but if you stop in.....scratch that, when you stop in, ask for the woman with the purple and blue hair. Oh and the food was great but the beers were even better. Support local people!! I guarantee you wont be disappointed......almost forgot, their merch is dirt cheap as well with super soft T-shirts at $15
We had a group of 20 today. Service was excellent. My loaded nachos, drunken fish sliders, house made chips, and fried green tomato were excellent. No one in our group cared for the slaw; the variety of shredded vegetables was impressive, but it needed a dressing. We brought ours home, dressed it, and have a yummy slaw.
Even during a pandemic this place rocks! The service is friendly and safe constantly sanitizing g for your safety. The food is great! Many standard dishes to choose from with additional season fare to challenge taste buds. More than these are the amazing craft beers. From the delicious and dark 1850 Stout and Old Man Gilbert Vanilla Porter to the lighter Jailhouse Ale and seasonal Christmas Alex, theres something for everyone.
This is a very hipster driven venue for craft brews and food. I absolutely love the atmosphere here and the servers were great. The bartender seems knowledgable with the interesting variety of beer. I love my Keep Sweet draft. So so so tasty. Great place! Go for sure if you need life to move a little slower. Cheers!
Awesome place to eat and drink! Easily one of the best places in Ashland and the surrounding area to get a local beer or meal. UBC has an extensive food menu and a rotating seasonal food menu that gives you tons of options for great food items to choose from. The beer is fantastic and brewed on location. Beer is true to its category and has great taste. The owners are great local people who support the community and are pushing the local beer culture forward not just for Ashland, but for the whole state of Ohio!
After sampling some brews at The Kokosing River Brew Fest last summer, we planned to visit. Its been a long time coming, but the juice was worth the squeeze! Excellent beer, food & service! The pastrami sandwich is a gift from God! The bartender, Michelle, was an absolute peach. We will be back. Cheers!
Very tasty food. We got the finger steak appetizers and the chicken tender dinner. Finger steaks wow! Fries excellent and chicken tenders solid. Only down if I had on the food was tenders are like breast cutlet size. Our server extremely friendly and welcoming. Only down on the service was the hostess seemed to have no people skills and we were putting her out of her way. But like I said. Our actual server was incredible!!
This is my first time here and the wait was only about 5 mins and the service was great! We did have to wait about 20 mins for our food but it was definetly worth it! I got the sliders with fries it was AMAZING! The place was nice and it was filled with VERY friendly workers! I FOR SURE recommend you coming here!
Excellent service, friendly staff, charming decor and delicious food. In Ashland for a youth sports tournament and brought a group of two families with five kids ages 5-11. Cheese curds with a delicious dill dip and spicy tots for starters. The south st. chicken sandwich was fabulous and the house cut fries were crisp and tasty. Others in our group had the quinoa seasonal bowl and Buffalo chicken wrap. All enjoyed their meals that were served accurately and quick. Kids all had wonderful home-cooked and kid-friendly choices (burgers, pasta, Mac & cheese). Cocktail menu had some interesting flavor combos that were nice to try. Atmosphere is very clean and spacious. Appreciated that tables were spaced and staff remained masked. Would definitely return. Added bonus to at the prices were very reasonable.
Great space. Great Hazy IPA (loved it so much I didnt try anything else). Great food! The drunken fish slider was perfectly light and crispy was absolutely delightful with the creamy aioli and juicy crunch of the pickle. The freshly sliced salt and peppered fries was a great sidekick to the slider. Well definitely go back!
Well Id give it zero stars; however, the beer bread was exceptionally good. Furthermore, the service was slow, albeit that was most likely because of the crowd. The shrimp with pasta (the name is currently slipping from me) was terrible. Both the pasta and shrimp were plain. The buffalo chicken wrap that i ordered tasted more like a salad than a chicken wrap. I asked for no tomatoes, yet, I still received tomatoes. The hamburgers ordered by other members received great review. The Cheese Curds were also kind of hard and rubbery. For having such excellent reviews, I feel i was very... underwhelmed, to say the least.
Great atmosphere, our waitress was super friendly and very attentive. Food was absolutely amazing, good sized portions, and reasonably priced. Food came out quick, and hot. I will for sure recommend this place for anybody looking for a laid back local eatery. Will be going back to try more of the amazing menu.
Passed through on Saturday 8/10. Stopped in around 9:30pm. Melody our waitress was fantastic. The beer selection was varied and very good. We ordered the finger steaks for an appetizer and they were delicious, the creole sauce was a great compliment to the meat. 2 of us had the burger special that was stuffed with beer cheese and it was outstanding. The other 2 in our party each had a chicken dish and those were very good as well. I plan on stopping in again on my next trip through.
Prices are reasonable, beer and food was pretty good, and the environment was neat. The only real complaint that I had was that our waitress wasn’t very attentive... My drink and my wife’s drink were empty for about 10-15 minutes before our waitress came back and it wasn’t busy.
Great range of beers here, tried them all even the IPAs (my gawd i hate hops btw) and all tasty. The Scottish style is really good! Props. Have had several food things here and all good. The cooking staff really does a great job and attentions to quality is very good, and every time. YES, yes, I love the TOTS! And deep fried asparagus. Nice to eat vegetables and have great beer. An important standard here: wait staff is always friendly and attentive. That is a total bonus! Good job!
Awesome experience. The ambience feels trendy and chic, but also warm and comfortable. Vaulted ceilings, exposed brick walls, they really did a beautiful job with the décor. Lively bar in the back with a variety of quality beers. The menu is limited, but the food was absolutely delicious. The wait staff is super friendly and hard working. And best of all, you cant beat the prices. It felt like a big night out experience for a very small price tag. Excellent value for your money. I highly recommend making this your new Friday night spot. My only critique would be to put a large sign on the street out front. It was a little hard to find from the car as we were driving by. Already looking forward to our next visit.
We had absolutely the best service tonight! Andrew was fantastic! I had the black bean & corn burger and it was very tasty, and very mushy, i will have to remember to ask for it crisper next time! The spicy tots are delicious! He had the spiders and said the meatball was really good and they ought to make a meat ball appetizer!
Positives: The food here is delicious! We had stopped for lunch. Their Italian and pulled pork sliders were spot on! The atmosphere provides rustic yet modern vibes with some patriotic decor.Negatives: There is no changing table in the womens or mens bathroom. I ended up changing my baby on the bathroom floor. Pretty gross... even if the bathroom was fairly clean. Our server did her job but seemed rushed and was not very personable.
We enjoyed delicious food and excellent craft beer. The grilled chicken is tender, but also has a noticeable charcoal grill flavor. It is excellent on their salad, as well as in their slider with pickled onion. The green salads are outstanding in flavor, freshness, and a crisp ‘crunchiness’. They offer a range of micro-beers – from wheat to dark to ales to flavored. The beers we had matched the description on the menu. So get whatever sounds good to you. Tables are widely spaced, so you won’t have a “noisy neighbor”.

2022-01-15Small town dining, in a former furniture store. Very classic interior with great food. Tried the Jupiter Burger with house chips, while my wife had sliders with a burger and chicken sandwich. Very good. Special kudos to the house chips and fries! Interior layout very spacious with tables spaced out, feeling safe for dine in.

2021-06-16Came here yesterday for the first time and had an amazing experience. The bartender Kristen was extremely friendly and helpful and knew the beers and menu very well. They have a good variety of beer styles on draft. I suggest their beer flight of five beers- for $9.00 it’s a very good deal. I sampled 10 of their beers and all were very good. For lunch I had the cheeseburger sliders with smoked Gouda cheese- juicy, tasty and filling! The home cut fries were very good and they provide malt vinegar as a condiment. The inside bar and restaurant was clean, chic, hip and comfortable that played 80s music. They have outside seating which includes seats with cushions. Plenty of parking just Sourh of the brewery. Great beers, food, place and people. I will be back!

2022-07-08I had lunch yesterday with my daughter and the food was good and the beer was amazing. We had excellent service. I love what they have done with the old Gilbert Furniture Store. It looks really good. I brought home a 32oz growler for $5. What a bargain! Will definitely be back!

2022-06-23Food was good but the Kids meals are a bit on the smallish side for older kids. My 8 and 10 year old were still hungry. The price is reasonable so we just ordered more. Beer was good, on par with other good breweries.

2022-06-18Friendly staff, excellent location, great Gilbert Furniture atmosphere, amazing food & brews!!There was a dish that came out cold, and I asked them if they could reheat it--which is when I learned they do not have a microwave, which is very impressive for a restaurant, as most chains microwave meals. They immediately offered to remake it and brought it out in 5 minutes. Bravo to the staff!!I hope someday they expand on their limited dining and make it more atmospheric. But for what it is, I love eating here.

2021-07-201815 Chicken on Naan was excellent. Friendly wait staff. Nice decor. I guess they dont have dessert or it just was not offered. We didnt remember seeing any on the menu. So we paid and went to Applebees for dessert.

2022-05-15This place is fantastic! Worth a trip for the Buffalo chicken mac and cheese alone. Great flavor and a little heat. The inside is beautiful. The staff is friendly. We met a local who gave us a little background on everything. Smack down in the middle of town. Do not let the closed road/detour signs detour you! Parking was free and it was a quick walk. I cannot rave about this place without sounding like a creeper.

2022-07-17The food was good. They have a great selection to choose from. I had the taco salad 😋My only issue was the chips and pico. The pico was so hot I couldnt eat it. I think I happened to get a lot of jalapenos in that bite. I would have preferred something different if knew it would be super spicy. But I know for next time. The service was great! We had a group of 11 and everything ran smoothly.Ill definitely be back!
