I do not recommend this location. They did not thoroughly inspect my tires, and one of them exploded on the highway while I was driving across the country to Georgia. It was very dangerous. Not only that, when roadside assistance came, they discovered that another tire was bald, and it needed to been changed too. We waited a total of fours hours to get everything resolved that should have never happened in the first place. It was outrageous.
Rude customer service reps on staff today. Waited almost 40 minutes in the hot car for someone to fill propane tanks. Rang bell for fast service. Went inside twice and apparently the people renting and returning vehicles were more important of a sale.
The 24 hour access is nonexistent. A sick joke. And circumstances that require purchasing a storage unit and U-haul vehicle (of which I did) dont accommodate denials of accuse to a vital part society. A compounded wasting of time money energy and scares resources is Triggered with every obstacles unaddressed being so Intricately woven in everyday fiction. Considering...the efforts to relocate storage providers would be worth the peace of mine.
Staff is unprofessional and rude. Also, I was supposed to have an online mobile check out, and I was switched to a check out through the desk. No reason for that considering my credit score is over 800.
They didn’t provided the service at 16:00 though they closes at 17:00 on Friday. Similarly, went on Monday to fill out Propane didn’t showed up for hrs though remind 2 times . Wasted my precious Time. Never wanna go next time.
Worst customer service I’ve ever had, I’d give 0 stars if i could!Scheduled an appointment for a hitch to be installed a week prior. I drop my car off only to be told they refuse to install my hitch because i ordered it from uhaul and not from there store. On top of that i offer to have them install one of their own hitches but they don’t have it in stock and can’t get it in for a week. Absolute joke of a staff. Save your headache and go elsewhere
Great facility. ENCLOSED loading/unloading dock is awesome...you dont have to worry about the weather. Very clean, nice staff. Best storage facility Ive ever stored stuff in. 10×15 space is split between 2 units (10x10 and a 10x5) which is weird, but prices are great. Better than Cubesmart, Public Storage, and others in my experience, across the country, not just OH.
The management, staff, and whole process is not only efficient and friendly, I actually look forward to going there! I rent for my business multiple times a month and have absolutely nothing to complain about. I also rent storage space from them here and there, and its the cleanest, best maintained storage anywhere around, and with great and fair pricing!! Would recommend UHaul and this specific location to anyone!!! Love it here! :)
Im a service member with the US army. I had a hitch installed there this Dec.2015 due to a military relocation. The hitch guy didnt install it professionally and its causing me to have all kinds of taillight problems due to shortage and corrosion. I have a 12 Ford Focus, took it to the Ford dealership, technician showed me the corroded wiring harness and said it was very poorly done. I got a phone call from the hitch guy after I filed a customer claim with U-haul customer center to figure out the solution. The hitch guy, John, never got back to me with any solution or follow-up. Im very disappointed at the service they provided. They dont respect service people for this country. They forgot what they were in the business for at the first place. I paid 400 dollars for the hitch installation and another 450 for the repair at Ford. Too absurd....
They over charged my credit card. After calling to question the charges I was informed that the manager would return my call because they didn’t have any answers for me.Never happened. After calling my card carrier they informed me the release date for my funds was for January the second!! It’s November!!! If my funds are not returned promptly I’m calling the attorney generals office!
Staff was helpful, friendly, and courteous. They do not try to upsell you on things like overpriced cardboard boxes or packing tape. I reserved a trailer, went in, they hooked it up and checked the lights/wiring, and I was on my way.I never got the feeling that the staff didnt like their jobs, which goes a long way.
Uhaul in general has caused delays with my order when I was assured I would get the hitch I ordered. This was set up for an install which I do not need, never ordered. I was told the store Manager was going to rectify my order twice. The Manager still has not called me. I spent 1hour 10min and 59 seconds on the phone with corporate to try and handle this issue that I was lied to about. I was assured that someone would contact me today. Nothing!! Yesterday was my 4th call to the Tallmadge Ave. Akron, Ohio store. If I dont get the merchandise that I need when I was told i would this time around and I have been VERY patient for a so called Manager to call me after talking to corporate then I will escalate this to a higher level. This is not how you conduct business. There is time to make a satisfactory outcome to this. This is not the full story. I just dont want to waste anymore time. I feel I have wasted the $250 that I paid when I could have got this somewhere else to begin with. I was promised a faster lead time and now that will be more than double after its said and done. Waste if time and maybe a new store manager is in order for this location. Probably the busiest location in our area with a clear lack of leadership very disappointing. The U-Haul staff here were very incompetent at their jobs. There were a lot of problems during the process of renting a trailer here and they couldnt figure them out. They apologized and tried to give me a discount for the troubles (so Ill give them 2 stars), but the system charged me for the full amount (plus some it seems) anyway, so now I need to deal with that.
Yo. If you need something done, get with Nomar. When i went in on Friday, he was the only guy on staff there, he not only finished my install by himself, but ran that whole store by himself like it was nothing. If you have a relative that needs work, have them apply at this location so this guy can have some help and get a VERY MUCH deserved break! Nomar is awesome. Everyone else there is straighs up trash
The wait at this location is unbelievably slow , I waited 30 minutes to return my truck and even skipped over in line twice. Management at this place needs to figure out the issue because all the workers move like molasses.
I tried to check in using my phone and it took over 25 minutes just to tell me it failed. Had to go inside. Spoke to owner and he couldnt get the system to work either. We lost 30 minutes of our rental and no compensation. Awful and wont be back

Had a storage unit and closed it up and no longer needed still charging my card to this day, 3rd time now. this time for 200 dollars. do not go here. they also fight tooth and nail about refunding. progessively got worse each time. not looking forward to fighting them a third time.
Extremely horrible and nightmarish customer service for the storage unit!!! The manager refused to remove incorrect late fees on an account. Says that the manager of the manager has to remove them.
The worst uhaul store there is, lazy people that do not answer the phone and when you want to rent a vehicle it is always reserved they say, but the same vehicle sits for days unmoved. They are all too busy playing on their phones to help you. Very disappointed in the service here.

I rent a storage unit from here I went to go get some of my kitchen stuff out and a roach crawled across my box I am a very clean person. When I went to tell the guy at the front desk he accused me of bringing the bugs there with me
Was to lazy to fill my propane said they Stop filling them 15 minutes before close then U-Haul needs to figure it out do they sell propane or not if you do and you’re open until seven then you need to fill them until seven it doesn’t say you close at 6:45
Friendly staff, boxes are not overpriced like some of the independently owned stores. Storage, trucks and moving supplies all in one place!

The customer service at this location is very rude and unprofessional. It’s a nightmare trying to get propane refilled. I’ll take my business elsewhere.
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The store is clean and we got an almost brand new moving truck.
Had a trailer reserved for an 0700 pickup (the website and the door indicates they open at 0700 on Saturdays)... no one was there. I waited until almost 0800 and gave up.
I here weekly, they some type of reward system or appreciation towards their regular on shopping customers
Never use for rental but getting propane is a terrible experience.

2022-06-28Rented a uhaul for a day to move a house in a time crunch. Paid for an appliance dolly but received a utility dolly. Couldn’t return it till the next day. Support said I could receive a free extra day on truck but when I got there they wanted to charge me fees. We agreed the dolly rental would be free. I hired extra help and moved everything in time but I was billed for everything, even the dolly I didn’t have access to the first day. The manager Monzingo was apathetic and I haven’t had a response from a letter since.

2022-05-09We had pods that we scheduled back in March for last Friday and they cancelled them after saying they couldnt get ahold of us when we show no calls from them. We tried getting this fixed all weekend but they didnt have anyone that dealt with the pods all weekend. Now they said that they dont have any way to deliver them to us this week or pick them up next week and we move in a week. And they wont compensate us for anything even though they took no effort to contact us. If I could give zero stars I would.

2022-03-17Climate Control facility makes it the most excellent to store facility. I have been using U-Haul Storage since last summer. Its convenient for me to go to here in Akron.

2022-05-03Even though I had a reservation there was no truck available for me when I showed up at the scheduled time. No resolution was offered, nothing. Just “sorry for your luck”. Ruined my move. Wasted the time of myself and all the people who had come to help me move. So much for their reservation guarantee.

2021-07-06Waited 30 minutes outside, no one came out... went inside waited in-line for another 10 to 15 minutes while someone was chit chatting with clerk. Finally was to told to go back out sometime will be out in a few minutes to refill my propane tank... over 20 minutes no one came out, saw sometime walk around side of building and back in when they thought I didnt see them. No one came... I went to Menard and exchanged my tank after over an hour...Customer Service is horrible... rude...

2021-10-27I had my stuff here for not even two months. I go online to pay my storage unit and it says I don’t Sheba an count. I email and call and get no response. A week later I finally get through and they tell me I moved out on the 4th. (I didn’t move out I live in another state). My mom goes to check my unit and all my belongings are GONE. EVERYTHING. They even rented my unit out to another person. They have no answers for where any of my things are. I’ve been on hold for hours. I’m in the process of contacting a lawyer and talking to law enforcement. Do not EVER store your belongings here unless you want it all to be missing/ and or stolen.

2021-08-26Worst location ever. I don’t know who that guy is with the pony tail, smoking next to customers while they get loaded, who acts like he bought and is personally responsible for all the U-haul vehicle trailers is, but karma is coming for you bud if it hasn’t already got there. What could have been a simple transaction turned into more delays without even knowing what we have been through the past two days in just trying to get home.

2021-07-07Dont go here! Worst experience ever for trailer hitch installation.Paid for installation up front in March. They scheduled my install in May. When I showed up for the appointment, they told me they couldnt install that day even though they had the parts and had 4 employees standing around doing nothing. After trying to reschedule I gave up and asked for refund and still havent received it. Its July!Customer Service is extremely hard to get to talk to someone since every time I call Im on hold for an hour.They basically stole my money and wasted my time.

2019-09-16The performance and the rating of this staff is as objective as I can be. I rented storage on Saturday, September 14th at 2:29 2019. The staff on that day was not able to effectively articulate the process for entering the building and unloading item. My moving team and I waited 30 - 40 minutes for the young man to remove the lock from the space so that we could unload items. I was advised that I had immediate access to the storage space. I was further advised that the existing cable that secured the space and warranted it inspected could be cut with scissors; that was not the case. When I asked why he didnt tell the truth about being able to remove the existing lock with scissors, he was not honest. Security alarms were triggered frequently. I was never given a card or a code to enter the space; I still have no card to-date. Additionally, the young woman working at that time took a break although there was a line, 7 individuals deep, waiting to be serviced. I watched the faces of several individuals as they were leaving; they were shaking their heads with disbelief and disgust.When I shared that I was going to contact U haul and complain, the young man indicated that he was very comfortable with that; he said that he could defend his actions.The behavior by your staff will hurt your bottom line if not corrected. I am a consultant, design customer satisfaction surveys, and share these examples with my audiences. I have rented trucks from the U haul location on Fountain St. They are the bar for performance. Courteous, knowledgeable, and competent.I need to return to the location to get my key card or code, so that I have access to my storage space; I waited a couple of days because I needed time to recover from my bad experience. I am also checking on other storage providers; I may move my items. Had it not been so late in the day, I wouldnt have done business with the East Akron location.If this is an issue of training, please provide it. The attitudes of these individuals are not good for your business or stockholder (if you are publicly owned).By the way, they never answer the phone at this location and it’s not because they are busy helping other customers. Call the number yourself. You’ll see.
