My 5-star review is only for the assistance we received at U-Haul Cleveland Heights location by the office manager, Antionette. Antoinette was professional, listened to my questions, and answered them with thought and efficiency. She pleasantly greeted me and bid farewell. (Unfortunately, that’s a rarity these days…)If you use this location, make sure you ask for her!
This is the absolutely worst U-haul station. Go to another station if you can or use Penske or Budget. I put 6.5 gallons into the truck on 65 miles driven and the indicator was exactly where it was when I picked it up and they still wanted to charge me for 2 gallon extra. I even stopped two times to gas up as I this gas guzzler consumed way from than a truck of this size should! The worst are the people there they don’t care about the customer, the person who was supposed to check me in walked away to her car and drove off, she told me she would check me in when she will be back. The staff here should all get fired.
The truck I picked up this morning stalled out about 15min after leaving the lot and had to be towed. Between waiting for roadside assistance and picking up a replacement truck I lost 6 hours of time to load the truck. Im glad Im moving away from Cleveland and wont have to interact with this location anymore.
Uhaul charged me $20 for their associate to close out my rental after house. Really? For a few keystrokes? The sad thing is I tried to close it out myself but the app crashed repeatedly when I was dropping my truck off. Will not be using them again. Customer service still matters to me.
Very poor customer service. Gave away my rental within an hour of my scheduledpickup and left me stranded today (after I waited in line for 20 minutes and my wife had left already). There were no other vehicles available. If renting from them I would double and triple check that your reserved vehicle will be there. I certainly wont be renting from them ever again.
No one came to help park or tell me where to park the trailer. When I finally found someone they yelled at me saying the equipment return label wasnt for trailers (which isnt an obvious fact) so they wanted me to back my car out with the trailer into a busy street to pull into the other drive which had a truck parked on the entrance since I had originally pulled up. After unsuccessfully moving the trailer I told them the equipment return lane was where I was understanding I should return my trailer equipment so they said theyd detach it there and move it themselves. All of this after changing my return time which was supposed to be after-hours at 5:30pm anyways.
The people who work here seem to feel like patrons are a hassle. I dont need service people to kow tow to me, but its kind of depressing to be treated like youre an annoyance when youre just trying to pay them to do things the advertise that they do. Having to listen to one of the customer service people treat the guy in front of me like a jerk was pretty unpleasant.
I am preparing for a move so I have been to this UHaul location on a few occasions in the last few weeks. Generally I had “normal” transactions but the last two visits were extremely negative. One young lady refused to answer a question about pricing. Simply refused. And my last visit led into an argument with the manager that didn’t have to be that way if he just had a more customer service driven approach. The products are products but I would suggest more training on customer service from the top right down.
They tried to give us a truck with a check engine light on saying it was just a censor. Then, after a fuss, they gave us a truck with a tire pressure light on saying it was just a censor and there was no other truck and you have roadside assistance anyway so who cares. I cared! I was trying to move, not spend half the day on the side of the road waiting for help. Anyway, it was not just a censor. On the highway the tire started to wobble really bad, then the truck started to lean. Then a message came came up on the dash that would not go away. Stopped at the gas station to put air in. The tire pressure had dropped to 54 when it should have been around 80-something and wouldnt take more air! I moved with a busted tire taking the streets and praying I wouldnt end up having to call roadside assistance. They need a new fleet. Go somewhere else.
Nothing wrong about this place in particular, but I dislike the fact that Uhaul will rent you a trailer, but not rent you the necessary equipment to tow it. The only option when RENTING your trailer is to BUY the hitch and electrical wiring. I understand that some people already own these items, but they should at least be available to rent.
If I could rate it zero stars, I would. I was extremely extremely stressed out about the moving process to begin with. I booked a truck for 1:30pm and when I got there, the order was cancelled. I attempted to make another order and the truck that I needed was not available. To make matters worse, the agent tried to redo the order and the computer kept freezing, so we had to do it 4 times. The other agent continuous laughed each time the other agent asked him to assist him. I spent an hour there and ended up having to do still do it on my phone and check in on my phone despite having two agents present. One agent got so fed up he left to go and buy chips. Ridiculous.
The building and lot are not suited for a U-Haul business and the business is poorly managed. The lot is usually over crowded with vans and trailers which make the place congested and difficult to navigate. Very minimal parking for customers, who are asked to park across the street, makes recrossing the five lanes of traffic on foot without crosswalks a wee bit of a hazard.Ubox storage is fine so long as you dont need to access them as they are often buried behind other stuff given the space is so small. Locks are prone to be broken of the containers.Getting help to get access to them has proven difficult near impossible, despite abiding by U-Hauls 24hr notice to gain access to your Ubox which they advertise. We filed a formal complaint with U-Hual after being denied access to our ubox on two occasions.The company continually passes the complaint up and down the corporate ladder where ultimately no one can take responsibility or action to assist with a dissatisfied customer, whose home goods are in essence being held hostage. Im not sure how else to put this but future customers beware this company top to bottom is inept at best.
I rented the $18 trailer to move a couch across the city. The line was very long at the end of the month when most people are moving in and out of apartments. Only one service representative knew how to work the computers and triage the line based on the service required. The office employees were all very polite despite more than a few impatient customers. For trailer return, I just dropped it off after hours without any issue.Be advised that there are very few parking spaces, and it is not clear where to park your car while you stand in line in the office. You are bound to be in the way of a truck. Assuming this condition occurs all the time, posting a sign for alternate parking instructions seems like the obvious solution.
I made a 9am appointment to have a hitch installed. I walked to a close by coffee shop to wait. Upon my return at 10:20am absolutely nothing had been done in regard to installing the hitch. The general manager(who evidently was also the installer)told me he was working on my behalf on the computer because he needed to remove a $10 charge for a warranty which I didnt want, and argued with me saying that a 9AM appointment doesnt mean the installation process starts at 9, but rather within a 4 hour period of time. I was given a refund and will have my car mechanic install a hitch. Total waste of my time(and vacation hours from work) to have absolutely nothing done. Found them to be most disinterested in doing the job-let alone a good job.. Never going back to this location....
These people are rude! First off, to rent the trucks are 100-200 dollars each even though on the side of the trucks themselves it says 19.95... Then if you pay in CASH they make you pay an additional 100 dollars like you made of money! I hadnt planned on the extra 100 when i was paying in cash and the people there could care less. I ended up having to have the movers move me in their small van thank god i aint have any furniture! Be warned! If you are moving go somewhere else! I felt like my hard earned money was wasted!!!!!!
I went there to take a truck and the clerk told me there is none so I asked for a Van and asked him if I can take it and drop it at different uhaul location and suddenly he told me I can do this to a truck that two minutes ago was unavailable and he did not tell me the extra charges or anything and did not even tell me the cost just sign here so I signed to discover later that he charged me 120$ I was so shocked
On Tuesday, October 23 we had the hitch placement on our car. It was done at Cleveland Hights, Ohio, 44118 U-haul location by the local manager Radley Gardner. After Mr. Gardner was done with the placement. I noticed several things that were damaged:1. When I opened the back door to my trunk, on the left inside the car, on the panel there is a big crack (which Mr. Gardner was treated with glue and black marker with the purpose to hide it; when I told Mr. Gardner about that crack, he said it was there which is not true).2. At the same left side, near that crack, there is a handle and now the grey wire is going out through the right upper corner of the square where the handle is sitting.3. I noticed a crack on a left brake light (in the back of the car) after Mr. Gardner returned my car after the hitch placement.4. In the trunk of my Toyota Venza I have a net bag which is holded in two upper and two lower holders. After work done by Mr. Gardner the lower right holder have dissapeared.5. In my trunk where Im carrying my extra tire, on both sides there are two plastic flat panels and they were on the plastic push retainers. So, after the hitch placement done by Mr. Gardner, all those push retainers were broken. Basically, it looks like Mr. Gardner have just pulled them out all around in my trunk when he was trying to reach under all those panels.6. The new installed wires from the hitch are not fixed but they are just hanging down

2022-03-22Had a very bad experience here, and many far worse experiences, even consider emergencies using uhaul that they never cared to resolve or respond to. I can understand when emergencies happen things maybe be done unconventionally but its no excuse for staff to abandon a professional approach to customers and not communicate whats happening before they vacate the facility halfway into their open hours, and furthermore laugh and not take their job seriously when customers are reporting safety hazards. That being said this is the second time I have ever seen uhaul actually do something to resolve a customer complaint or serious issue (the other being a trailer tire pop). Actually its better said that the general manager here took action and deserves praise not uhaul, she listened to what I said, and did what she could on her end to address the safety concerns, mitigate upset customer, and clean up the mess. She actually inspired me to write something positive. Uhaul should give this woman a raise, if I knew she was running a uhaul I would not be so nervous and doubtful of their services moving forward.

2022-06-12Help was difficult to find when picking up my truck. They strongly encourage the use of the app that would only work on their wifi and not on the cell network (or home wifi). When returning the truck they did not want me to use the app they were going to check it in but when arriving for pick up and return people were arguing about damage to the vehicle so I wanted to take my own pictures. While I did have no issues there I called to see if I left an item in the vehicle (after being rushed) and the local number rolls to an 800 number after doing the virtual hold thing for about 30 minutes I waited another 20 minutes after receiving the call back to be told I needed to be transferred to the local office (no kidding). Agent then transferred me to 24 hour roadside assistance with a 30-40 minute hold time...I hung up. Saying I was unimpressed with the service is an understatement.

2021-10-10This is a horrendous service. Employee sits at desk but says she can’t help and says to call a 1800 number to rent truck. Tons of trucks on the lot but she says all are rented. We called the 1800 number and finally got a truck (all those trucks on the lot were available indeed).Upon returning truck, employee says she’s about to leave and can’t help again. Says must create account to return vehicle. My husband was alone and his English is not good. But somehow over the phone I guide him and we create account but website won’t allow us to return the vehicle (glitch of some sort). Absolutely zero service. If I can give this place a negative digit I would.

2022-04-22The employee who took care of me refused to help me with the checkout process. He kept repeating to me Its right there on the screen. Even after I told him I didnt understand he wouldnt help me. I wont go back there again.

2021-08-15Some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The vehicle I rented wasn’t even at the store when I arrived, and it took nearly an hour to check in and be assigned a new truck. Both employees bluntly answered all my questions with “I don’t know”, clearly had zero idea what they were doing, and zero interest in helping out a customer. I will not be renting from here again.

2020-11-09I have rented 3 times this month and had good experiences all 3 times specifically with the female employees however, all staff has been great. They have been friendly and helpful even in unusual situations and always tried to accommodate or assist once they knew what was going on.

2014-09-07The owner is deceitful and the customer service is terrible. Rent anywhere else. This establishment doesnt deserve any of your money and if you give them a penny they will take 100 dollars and blame another Uhaul facility.

2020-07-12Ridiculously rude, ignorant and unprofessional. Scheduled me and another customer the same vehicle. Rather than fix it told us were out of luck and suggested we take our business elsewhere if we had an issue.

2016-07-15Stopped here with a friend to pick up a truck. Short waiting time and the employees were kind and helpful despite having to deal with another extremely loud and disrespectful customer.

2020-05-30I would leave 0 stars if it was possible. We had an online reservation that we made a month in advanced and showed up to our pick up site early. The employees were standing around and hardly working while there was a line of 15 people waiting outside. Horrible service it was slow and unprofessional
