Visited for the first time recently and had a fantastic experience! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. It was so pleasant to wander a bit and explore the books and art while we waited for our food. They also took our concerns about allergens very seriously, which always makes dining experiences better.
Came for a reading by a friend whod just been published. Fun little space with a surprisingly varied menu for what looks like just a little coffee bar. I asked for decaf and they didnt have any made but insisted on making some just for me. Enjoyed my visit very much. Street parking was easily found just a hundred feet up the street or so.
The folks who work here are amazing and friendly! Always smiling and remember your name. Super hip and laid back environment. They have poetry slams and comedy night with local stand up comedians. Their vegan pizza night on Fridays is a must! I have also enjoyed brunch here, too. Feels like a very safe and fun place! All vegan menu
Their tortugas change often, and not once have they come to disappoint! It is cheap vegan food that is sure to satisfy the hunger of any eater. The tortugas are always filling, their coffee is also pretty good. And, if you are a reader, you might even be tempted to buy a local book that they have as well.
The food... I have not had a bad thing here. All made in house and delicious. Full of flavor- you won’t even miss the animal products that are not in your food! If you haven’t tried the ‘banana peel barbacoa’ you need to today! It’s amazing!!! The publishing company and bookstore are top notch for their size. Book topics are relevant and on pointe. The company supports equality.
I have found a vegan business that has EVERYTHING. The food is unique and fantastic, the coffee is amazing. The bookstore atmosphere featuring trendy pop art is the perfect aesthetic. I loved how a majority of the books offered for sale were from people within marginalized groups in society. They uplift those voices out of the dark while also taking care of the earth with their all vegan menu. I can’t wait to come back for a happy hour and drinks, as they have a draft beer and cocktail menu as well! This is the place every vegan should go when coming to Columbus!
Staff is wonderful. Went to try the vegan menu and check out the books. I guess I should specify that I am not vegan but was curious about what an all vegan menu might look and taste like. Needless to say, after one meal I am a big fan. Got the tortuga. Would recommend. Loved the house made hot sauce. Not a fan of the ketchup, too watery. Meal was great though. And the book collection was refreshing. Will be back for Friday date night that I saw on the board. $32 for 2 drinks and 2 books. Deal.
In excellent completely vegan establishment. I love their version of crab meat and everything else have tried there. Friends who Ive taken along with me have also been completely satisfied. Very nice dessert options as well along with the choices of Brew and other beverages. Its a really nice unique setting when you include the bookstore aspect. The service is always friendly And Timely. I will never hesitate to head to $2 radio headquarters for some great vegan food!
All the food is vegan, and its delicious. All the food is home made, when I bring non-vegan friends here they enjoy the food. They have a great and wide variety of books, novels, poetry, and graphic novels. I Love the environment and the gatherings that take place here. Would recommend others to visit.
Friendly staff and unique and spacious environment with great indie book selection! As a new vegan, I was happy to see how diverse the menu was and ended up ordering a sandwich, appetizer and dessert. All were incredibly satisfying, flavorful and fresh!! I will be coming back :)
Nice atmosphere. Decently busy on a Saturday afternoon makes it a nice place to see and meet people. Its a coffeehouse, bookstore, eatery (light foods), and a watering hole all in one. That combination itself brings in a nice mix of people. However, you wont be about to put cream in your coffee since the eatery part seems entirely vegan.
The food was better than anticipated. As a traditional eater living with a vegan I occasionally try role reversal in our dining selections. Everything is vegan! #1 burrito was really tasty as was the potato and leek soup. I was really surprised by the biscuit with sausage gravy. It was soooooooo good. Well be back for sure.
If a bookstore can be a boutique, this would be it. This is not the store for you if you are looking for a thousand copies of the it book. Rather, it is a place to find inspiration to read a wider range of diverse books. The way the store is set up makes you want to read everything in it. Also, it is a place to have great conversation over coffee and food. While I didnt sample the fare, it is easy to see that it is a comfortable and quiet place to spend time with a friend or significant other. A very unassuming non pretentious place to spend some time. Check this place out for sure.
My wife and I went to eat there with our toddler son the other day. Not only was the food INCREDIBLE (in my opinion best vegetarian food in town), but they thoughtfully have a little play area for kids, and our kid went right over and started playing while we enjoyed a meal together. Ive never been to a place that was so kid friendly. Highly recommending to all our friends. 5 stars arent enough!
Love it! Good community hangout! It has books available for purchase and perusal and an eclectic array of tastes and flavors on their menu. There is a list of events and activities they keep posted and updated and are open to adding to it if someone wants to start something themselves!
I came here on a Friday afternoon. The lady at the counter was helpful with menu suggestions. At her suggestion, I ordered the 7 layer wrap. I was expecting it to be a hot wrap but it was cold (not served cold, it is made that way...to clarify). It was 💣💣💣! I got a brownie too that was amazing! I dont live in Columbus, but will definitely stop here when passing through or visiting my sister. Really nice place.
I. Love. This. Place. Delicious coffee and tea selection, amazing book selection, and a great place to just hang out and play board games with friends or get some work done. Its so cute. I wish they had a cola or a lemon-lime soda option, but they do have root beer and ginger ale.
This is the perfect place to take your non-vegan friends. The eggplant po boys were delicious. Much better than some meat versions Ive had around columbus (disclaimer: Im not vegan), and on par with what Ive had in New Orleans. The mac and cheese is where its at though. Ill keep coming back for that stuff. Oh, they also have great pizzas. Unfortunately they didnt have them this weekend but said they would the next. I appreciate the dynamic menu as it gets me to try new stuff. They also make wonderful cocktails and have some good beers on tap. They keep some games (uno, connect 4, etc) out to okay with, and even have kids toys in the back area.I no have yet to come here outside of night mode but they have some cool books and a fancy coffee machine so I could see myself coming here for some caffeine.
Had an enjoyable time. Linch was delicious..vegetarian and tasty. Cheerful and unique place that was refurbished but kept the flavor of the older building. Many years ago this building housed a public library branch. I went there often. Now it again promotes books. I found some new authors to try and a book that I have wanted to read. I look forward to some of the events they have which include book clubs, author readings, music nights and more.
Went to see a few short films created by a colleague. Nice atmosphere with a good assortment of books for sale, some from local authors. Nice childrens corner, assorted art media, tea, coffee, legal beverages, popcorn and other informal food items. Parking available nearby. It was a pleasant experience l would undertake again!
The tacos and blondies were delicious!! And the ginger ale was especially good, from a brand I hadnt heard of before! Plus I didnt realize these were the guys, the publishers who actually put out some of these very successful novels! Very well reviewed books, especially if you like sci-fi/fantasy.
This place is such a blessing for Parsons Ave. I live a couple blocks away and have made this my new home away from home. Im a nursing student and study every day. Their hours are great for my schedule and the vibes are amazing! Did I mention they serve alcohol?! For those stressful days of studying this is just what I need! Dont change a thing.
Food is absolutely amazing I had the Tres Tacos Hermanos and my wife had the jean Claude van randy wrap she said it was the BEST wrap she’s ever had! The tacos I had were so flavorful and you can tell everything is homemade as advertised! Our daughter who’s only 2 loved the “kiddos” meal with the seitan chickn strips great to see a place that has a meal for her we will be back anytime we are in Columbus
Great book store run by even better people. The environment is wonderful-- bright and clean and warm. Coffee, alcohol, and food available. Books everywhere-- from smaller publishers and authors, some published by Two Dollar Radio themselves. Plenty of seating and special events happening regularly.
Wow! Im so excited to see an indepentent bookstore open on Parsons Avenue. As a book lover and a connoiseur of bookstores, this obe warrants an A+. A comparatively small selection of books, but thoughtfully displayed and promoted. I feel like all the books are winners. Its also a cafe, with coffee and beer, and board games to play to pass the time. I suspect Ill be spending a lot of time there.
Idk why these people have a 4.8 star review. What is wrong with y’all’s tastebuds??? If anyone in the Columbus area is thinking about going vegan, this place would only reject that decision. Everything is way over priced and tastes awful. For example; the fake chicken that they use for their sandwiches AKA the seitan should not be called chicken. It tastes like banana bread for some very odd reasons. How can seitan even taste like banana bread? Their cinnamon roll was cold. The ceaser dressing didn’t taste like ceaser at all, it tasted like falafel. Their artichoke dip tasted like a hot bean dip, and not the good kind. The only nice thing good about here is the hand soap in the bathroom. A waste of money and a waste of calories for the day. Please save your money, please. I don’t even write reviews but I had to.. because it was this bad.
A great place to take rescue from the humdrum of the world. Dive into the imagination of the books published and sold. Let the imagination of the food give you pleasure and the variations of cocktails and drinks joy. The love for their own products and their patrons shows in every corner of this ecelectic yet wholesome place. I wished I could package this uniques Oasis and take home with me. Yay Two Dollar Radio HQ.

2022-05-26Nice big coffee shop and book store combined. You may enjoy your hot drink/s and some nice appetizing food while enjoying a good book. Free parking out front and in the side of the building. An author or two may make a special appearance to promote existing and or upcoming works. The amazing Mahogany L. Browne pictured in this review. Nice and friendly staff. Decent prices. Good vibes with good people.

2022-02-02Absolute best vegan food in town and on top of that they have an amazing selection of radical books. Great place to come and chill. Awesome nice staff. They even published their own books. Uh-oh, I better not blow up the spot!

2022-02-21Amazing vegan food, wonderful selection of indie-published books. Not to mention such a friendly staff! I recommend Two Dollar for vegans and non-vegans alike, and especially for those who are readers! This place is a huge asset to the neighborhood, and does a great job of being warm and welcoming to all.

2022-03-30What a gift this publisher is to Columbus. Isnt it ironic that, in a country that has freedom of speech written into its Constitution, independent presses are so uncommon. I rejoice that this place of business is allowed to operate as freely as it is. And as a matter of fact I am thinking about the lunch I ate there the other day and as I think about it now I find that my salivary glands are secreting saliva. What an experience. What a delight. Also I have been enjoying the book I bought there that was also published there and not only for sale there. Talk about full service. What a gift this publisher is to Columbus.

2022-06-30I briefly visited Two Dollar Radio Headquarters last week [6-23-2022] while on my way to an open house at the new location of The Open Shelter [at 1037 Parsons Ave.] [about four blocks north of Two Dollar Radio Headquarters].I have been familiar with Two Dollar Radio Headquarters -- without ever having been there -- because I edit the calendar in the Columbus Free Press and because I have included in that calendar, over the years, several different events at Two Dollar Radio Headquarters. It had been extremely interesting, during my visit last week, to see a bookstore, a performance and event space, a bar, and a vegan café all in the same space.I remember looking at Google Maps photographs before my recent visit there. Many of those photographs had shown food and drink and/or people eating and drinking so I had wondered at that time if those photographs had been of a previous business at that same location. Now that I have visited Two Dollar Radio Headquarters and have seen a bookstore and have seen people eating and drinking all in the same room, I am aware that all of those Google Maps photographs are of the same business. If you are looking for an independent bookstore that also offers food and drink, I strongly recommend Two Dollar Radio Headquarters.I now wonder why the word Radio appears in their name while they are clearly not a radio station.

2018-06-29This place is dope. How in the world does it not earn 5 stars every time? Its books, coffee and vegan food that plays killer music. The building looks like an old hardware store from the 30s. Try and grab a table by the windows. WiFi is killer strength.

2021-07-22Book shop meets vegan cafe. The food is amazing and they have a wide variety that my mom vegan friends also really enjoy. They have vegan pulled pork, french toast,ac and cheese... And baked goods too! They also sell some alcohol. The books are phenomenal and unique. They even have mystery book bundles that are themed. They have taken the time to mark some of their fav books with little blocks saying what they are about. Overall a very quirky adorable place for foodies and book lovers to enjoy.
