Toledo botanical garden is a great place to relax, evening walks, family friendly fun activities even some were enjoying lunch under big trees and pleasant natural breeze in late May. Definitely recommend this place. We saw some big, fringe carp fishes in the creek. Flowers were blooming and roses are just coming out.
This is such a beautiful and serene botanical garden. Fairly large and features a good variety of flowers, trees, and lots of birds. Theres also a pond with water fountain that also has sailboats that float across it with the water/wind movements, which was neat to watch. I did see a few ducks and chipmunks while there as well. Parking is easy to get in and out of, and there are plenty of spots to set up a picnic for your visit as well. I also noticed that it seemed like some locals gather here for book clubs and read under the shaded areas together, which I thought was super cute. I will definitely visit again the next time I visit Toledo.
Just a perfect place to enjoy the summer weather. If you thinking about a little escape from your busy life, I think this is perfect place. You will get to see beautiful nature, cool breeze and bright sunny day or you can go for afternoon walk. What else anyone can ask for summer, right!!
I LOVED THIS PLACE!!! What a beautiful, calming, whimsical little garden. I wasnt expecting much but upon arrival my eyes looked over all the beautiful flowers and greenery...so incredibly beautiful. All free, just go walk around and enjoy watching the fat little squirrels that inhabit the park...I will happily drive the 2 hour journey from my home in Indiana to visit.
This is such a beautiful place to visit locally for a walk or just to enjoy nature and some local wildlife. I have enjoyed some lovely relaxation on the hills here, and deer have grazed around me. The trails are shorter, usually a mile max, so its a quick and nice walk. The views of the gardens are beautiful. Some of the gardens are open, some are grand and have a European feel, and others have a wetland feel with little bridges and lots of trees. For the small amount of land the Botanical Gardens use, they have found such a wide variety of garden atmospheres. It really is a pleasure here. Lastly, I like the small sunflower garden on the Bancroft entrance.
Found this place by accident today and was only able to take in a small portion of it, and I was pleasantly surprised by how meticulously kept the property was! There were deer 🦌 running all around. This place is packed full of art and love for nature. I cant wait to go back and explore and visit the gift shop when it opens. I am amazed at this find. So much more to see here.
Big beautiful open space with lots of trees, shrubs, flowers and other plants around to enjoy. Lake and grassy areas perfect for picnicking. Entire are perfect to take a run/jog or even a nice walkthrough. No pets, but it preserves the beauty and nature. Great photo opportunities too!!!
Beautiful perennial garden but otherwise there isn’t much else to see. We arrived on a Sunday and some event was taking place. So we had to pay $12 per person to get into the park since the art fair was being held. The fair was an adde surprise and gave us something else to do though since the garden themselves are a bit small.
Beautiful place! The flowers and plants are blooming beautifully and we spotted tons of wildlife. The walking trails are easy to find and well maintained. Great place to bring your kids for a walk in nature. The other activities usually available were closed due to safety reasons from the covid-19 restriction, but the buildings look in great shape and I cannot wait to return once they open again to check them all out! Public bathrooms are available and plenty of parking. They offer rental options for weddings and parties so if you are in the market for something like that check out their info. Most of the main trails are handicap accessible and restrooms are also. We highly recommend stopping by and visiting if you are in the Toledo area and looking for something to do!
Loved enjoying this park with my Mother before she passed and it was her wish that our whole family could see it. i recently was there with my daughter and still a relaxing peaceful beautiful garden ,will like to see it again with other family members..would be lovely for weddings,or outdoor birthday/family picnic...
Went here to take some pictures and this place was pretty nice! The colors of the trees were really pretty!! Only thing I wish was different was that there was so much open space where there could be more greenery! I thought this place was really nice and pretty, but I do believe that there are better parks with less crowding.
Since it was a Saturday and COVID-19 season, we couldnt visit any of the arts & crafts areas, but there are so many beautiful plants and gardens and sculptures we still had a fantastic visit! I just wish other people had been following the rules (no dogs, wear a mask, etc…) so everyone could have felt safe being there.
It is a wonderful place to spend sometimes with nature. The park is a bit small but you will find various collections of plant of herb and other flowering plant such as rose, Dalia etc. It has recently built a place for children called “Secret Forest” which is really wonderful. It’s a great place to take picture bcoz it’s a beautiful place and well maintain.
The Toledo Botanical Garden is a beautiful place year round. We got our wedding pictures taken there, people also get graduation pictures, prom pictures, etc. taken there. There is a lot of really cool sculptures along with all the amazing plant life. It’s also the perfect place for a romantic walk, a stroll to relieve stress, or to take your kids to let them run around and burn off some energy. We will definitely be back soon!!
I really loved our visit. Im still struggling in my wheelchair because Im not weight-bearing yet after knee surgery. I wish more paths were paved. I will go back after Im walking again. We took lots of photos. And even stopped in to the potters studio and found it a soothing place too.
Very beautiful all year round. Spring & Fall are the best times though. Great place to go walking or biking (asphalt trail for bikes), read a book, photography, Pokemon Go, etc. They DO have public restrooms. No dogs allowed, which I definitely respect in order to maintain the beauty of this place!
Amazing space, well maintained, the artist village was so cool but many of the studios were closed in the weekend. We took a leather box making class that was so much fun for my daughter (11) my mother and myself. Totally worth the 30$. They did need better maps of the area. I wish their website told us better when/what things were in bloom.
I absolutely love this place. I find it so peaceful and calming. The weather was perfect today for a nice stroll through the garden. I recommend this to anyone who needs a place to relax and gather themselves as well as their thoughts. A piece of my is better then any pharmaceutical medicine. Take a book, take a friend, stroll your babies. I promise u will love it.
I love the botanical gardens so much! Always clean and the staff is kind and helpful. I take my nephew in the summer, this year a member of the staff was leading a tour and the leader stopped to help sooth the crying little fellow and their whole group started singing to him! It was so nice!
Its beautiful and definitely worth the trip out. Theres all kinds of pretty trees, flowers, and sculptures, gorgeous paths, and an awesome playground for the kids called the Secret Forest. Ontop of all that, there was a sign that said they were going to be putting a splash pad in this fall. I bet itll be awesome just like the rest of it. This is a beautiful place to spend the day ❤️
This is my favorite place to wander and take photos. I feel at peace in the lush world class gardens. As an artist sanctuary one can use the surrounding as a muse. You can take classes here and view the displays presented by fellow artisan. There is a link to the past as well as the future. I hope everyone visits and helps support this wonderful place. Become a member and support TBG today. 😘
Such a beautiful place and the picture taking destination of Toledo. Every time I have gone at least one photographer is using it as a back drop. Around prom and homecoming I am surprised there are not buses for all of the teenagers in formal wear. Summer will have a bride or two visiting. Great place to take leisurely walks even so.
So this past weekend me and the girlfriend went here just to do something different in toledo. I forget how beautiful and awesome this place is to walk around. I didnt even know that they had a little stream that look pretty dope in the picture. You guys ever get a chance check this place out
Fabulous gardens and park that I have enjoyed since I was a child. However, I am disappointed that more of the artisan groups at the gardens are gone. Also I know there is an event for the holidays this weekend and I cant find any mention of it on the metropark website or calendar of events. I was looking so that I could share with my friends and family on social media. How can they expect to have a successful event to support the artists if no one knows about it?
As a wedding and engagement photographer in the area, I can easily say that Toledo Botanical Garden is one of my favorite places in the fall. Its beautiful year round, but theres something special about the fall there. Theres beautiful landscaping, a new play area for the kids, and lots of places to walk around and just take in the beautiful nature. The one thing I do have to remind my couples of is that you cannot bring your dog here for photos (or at all). Its free to get in and youll absolutely love it!
Lovely place to walk and connect with nature. Convenient free parking, no admission fee. Many little garden areas to explore, many photo opportunities. Bring a picnic with the family or a date. Gardens for everyone and every taste. Variety of classes offered year round.
We had only a very short stop here and it seems nice. It was a bit colder (this was back in March) so we ended up heading out early as we were on a road trip out East (on our way into PA)I wish we had spent more time here but I was overruled by the wife and two boys.
This park is beautiful! Its now managed by Toledo Metroparks and I love all the changes theyve been making. There are a lot more natural areas and native plants, while still keeping the formal gardens and manicured lawns. I love all of the large trees they have across the property, and the sensory garden was especially fun. This park has something for everyone!
I had been to the botanical gardens in the distant past, but had forgotten its many appeals. Having been to a Grad party there recently, my children and I LOVED the enchanted forest treehouse with rope challenges and bridges. But I had truly forgotten its massive and meandering girth! We enjoyed an invigorating walk, and managed to see most of the park. The landscape is naturally beautiful, and elevated by sculptures and planning.
It was an alright place, we originally wanted to go to the Toledo Zoo but ended up finding the ticket booth closed. So we decided to check this Garden out. The area wasnt all that pretty in my opinion. The garden is sorta big but nothing worth coming out 1 hour for from Michigan. Its a nice place for neighboring people or people around the place.
Big, beautiful, and free botanical garden. My wife and I spent about an hour and a half here the morning after a family wedding. Strolled the grounds and was impressed by how curated and developed the garden was. I would definitely recommend a visit to this place - you wont be let down.
A beautiful place and FREE!!! I always see photographers and their clients all over for graduation, anniversary, weddings.... It really is that beautiful and wonderful. My kids and I can easily spend 2-3 hours here and never get tired of coming back. We probably go once or twice a month.
This is one of the best parks we have around. SO much to see, absolutely a winner in my book! Depending on which entrance you use, (Elmer or Bancroft) shows a different viewpoint of the park. *Front-Back* If you enjoy plants, water, and art this is a must see for you. An old house with an old school outside cellar entrance, surrounded by a grove of trees sits just beyond the Koi Gazebo to the left upon using the Elmer entrance. You can see a bird cage nestled in the cozy looking front porch. There is a conference center and play area for children adjacent to the surroundings. There are side gardens, bird baths, and a paved pathway that leads out to the Bancroft entrance as a service road. To the right are some shops and education buildings yet hours vary and due to COVID and I am unsure of hours. Walking through there is plenty more to see a far as a wooden bridge, more paths, another hidden garden, as well as statues and artwork. During the summer months, a fountain spouts in the middle of a pond. Plenty of trees as well as carefully placed and labeled plants are to be discovered no matter where one chooses to walk. Benches, picnic tables, stone slabs/steps, and plenty of grassy areas to place a blanket even beckon one to stop and partake in the nature that is all around. Plenty of little spots that will become treasures for the adventurous await.
I had an extra day to spend in Toledo, so I explored the Botanical Gardens. Lots of walking paths (sunny & shady) to explore the property. Lots of unique artwork surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers. Many areas available to picnic or sit and enjoy the view while sipping a drink. There is a big area for kids that includes rope bridges, treehouse, gym equipment in a rustic setting. I thoroughly enjoyed the day strolling around & exploring these gardens.
Was there for a private function, looked a nice place to picnic, walk, chillax. There is a childrens playground. There is building with heat/AC that can rented for private functions. They allow you to decorate it for graduations or whatever type of party. On nice weekend days at peak times parking might be at a premium. We are going to go back and walk around the grounds.
Ive lived in Toledo for 73 million years, and Im apparently in the top 10% of Google reviewers (jealous?), so I tend to go places and have opinions on them, yet Ive never really been here. Maybe when I was a wee lad, but not in recent memory. I suppose it is easy to overlook. It should NOT be overlooked. Do not overlook it. How dare you even consider it? I was out snappin pics, and I didnt stop to figure out what everything was, so Ill just tell you what I observed: a dad or grandpa and his teenage son flying a drone. A LOT of really cool gardens, including a lot of local plants. Maybe they all were local, I did not inquire. Im sure a few were visitors. I saw two really great Sycamore trees. I saw a bunch of different groups walking about. I saw a few gals sitting and reading. I saw a lot of little decorated buildings that made me feel like I was at art camp. I saw a lot of confusing parking lots (just go slow and pay attention, you have got this). I saw a lot of ladies sitting around what looked like a stylized prairie teepee (spelling?) Surrounded by pastel colored boxes. A themed baby shower? Bridle shower? Whatever our culture has showers for now? I saw 👀 a cool old building. I saw a bunch of sculptures. I didnt like most of them, but you probably will! I saw rolling hills and a big fountain. I didnt explore that area, however, for the mosquitoes were numerous and hungry. Our wet weather of late has been truly great for mosquito-kind. I cant believe you read all of this. I hope this review was as useful as it was genuine.
Charming and beautiful. The landscapes feel open and natural and yet have such thought and care put into them. The water features are lovely and the engagement from the community makes this a great space to learn about new varietals of plants as well as garden design. I personally love the fact that the garden itself is many different gardens, each with it’s own concept and feeling. A wonderful place to wander and a wonderful place to while the hours away. Don’t forget to stop through the artist village either! The works produced there are stunning and the artists clearly create for the joy of creation itself.
What a wonderful way to spend a Thursday evening in the summer. Come to Toledo Botanical Gardens to enjoy excellent music in a beautiful setting. Bring your own chair and food, but you can also get some food from a barbecue food truck. There are some yummy baked good you can buy to satisfy your sweet craving.
Toledo botanical gardens is a beautiful place with nice wide paths, a stroller can easily go down any path. Someone in a wheelchair could visit 90% with someone to assist them on the hills or about 50% alone.Nice clean bathrooms and a nice play area that makes the kids feel like they are playing in the trees.Something is always in bloom and most things are labeled. One of the best free places Toledo has to offer.
This place is the epitome of Pokemon GO greatness. The only better place to play is Downtown, but there is a much lower chance of getting stabbed at TBG.Go in on the Elmer side, hit the small loop. If you dont know what those things mean, ask in the Pokemon GO [Toledo] group on Facebook. Everyone is a helper there.
A beautiful experience with a garden experience that will inspire any Midwestern gardener. The perennial and woodland gardens were favorites. They have a great play structure, but due to crowd and vaccine status for our youngest, we didnt partake. Expect to spend an hour or two taking in the details of this place!
This place is kind of great because its a free and pretty outdoor place to go with the family or even yourself. And they have one of the most unique playgrounds in the city. Its basically like a combination of treehouses and obstacle courses. They dont have things like swings or slides. They have stuff thats made for climbing and walking through. They have a tunnel made of nets and a bouncy bridge going from one tree to another. And they usually have events for Halloween or other holidays. As you can see in the pictures we also like to picnic here because they have a really beautiful spread of land with different flowers and structures, perfect for picnicking. If you were a writer, this also would be your ideal go to place for writing. Also, its a place for weddings which my sister had done and it was nice.

2022-05-10This park is amazing due to its great location and beautiful sceneries inside. The park is mostly famous for being a Botanical garden where you will find variety of flowers and plants. Moreover, we did a film shoot as one of our school projects where we found best locations such as Gazebos and other iconic places as can be seen in the photos. You must visit it if you like to enjoy spending time in park and for walk.

2022-06-12Beautiful setup. Easy to get to. Free to public. Very well explained and so many open-to-public aspects at the Artist Village! Also, the Toledo Rose Competition was happening this weekend and it was gorgeous with amazing people who loved what they did and explained it! Next year, 2023 competition will be third week of June! Will definitely come again! Also, talk about a large collection of Hostas!
