Timber top isn’t a bad complex for the price. A lot of the people that live here are sketchy, not only are some people sketchy, they’re inconsiderate. My neighbors would constantly play loud through all hours of the nights. It didn’t help that the walls were paper thin. When there wasn’t noisy neighbors, it was pretty quiet. Another thing I noticed was that the leasing office wasn’t helpful, they never followed up with requests or complaints. They also charge a fee for EVERYTHING. I needed a changed lock and new key because someone broke into my apartment and I had to pay $50. I also had leaks and a running toilet that broke many times.
Do NOT live here. It is absolutely not worth it, I promise you. The leasing office seems nice at first to get you through the door, but are ultimately incredibly useless. They don’t do their job, they do not take complaints seriously, and they do not follow through on the actions they are supposed to take. They purposely give false information and lie in order to back people into a corner so that they think they have no other option but to do what the leasing office says. The maintenance there also does not take complaints seriously, if you tell them your heat isn’t working they respond by telling you to buy a space heater. On top of that, they rarely plowed or salted in a timely manner unless you filed a complaint/maintenance request - which does nothing for you if it’s after business hours. This was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had dealing with a company, and I wish I would’ve listened to all of the negative reviews. Save yourself the stress and look for housing elsewhere. Take reviews seriously, these are not unique incidents, they do not care about their tenants in any way.
After shoveling out our steps after the big storm and shoveling out 3-5 parking spaces for our neighbors, they were running around with front loaders today and removed the snow blocking the remaining spacesno one here knows how to drop a plow, salt heavy, or properly run equipment with finessewith all offense, i could have done a better job when i was learning bobcat at 13 years oldthey will not shovel your sidewalks or a path to your mailbox (ours rusted out and fell and they didnt even weld it back into place, they just stood it right back up) which is concerning for anyone, but especially for residents that have a disability or are on the older sideso glad that my boyfriend and i get to redo the steps today so no one gets injuredwhile im here, the woman that answers the phone for any accounting or billing questions is quite possibly the rudest person i have ever had the chance to interact withtwo stars because the rent is cheap although they raised rent when we renewed our leasei know giant corporate companies like AIY are trying to keep up with market demands, but my wage does not keep up with market demands and remains stagnant
Living here is 1/5 stars. its terrible. my apartments full of mold & they’re not the best to deal with at all.but this beautiful RAY of sunshine !! working in the office makes it bearable. i was involved in a bad car accident & lost my keys (also broke my leg). Ray has made dealing with all this so much easier. she has by far been the most delightful person i’ve dealt with since Lawrence stopped working for AIY. thank you Ray!!
YUCKKK! Place is literally filled with garbage everywhere, cockroaches, mold, torn down walls, maintenance won’t ever help with anything but the WORST IS THE OFFICE STAFF literally they could CARELESS. They’re absolutely rude which is hilarious since it’s literally their job to assist the people paying millions a month (this property roughly gets about 4 million monthly) and yet somehow manages to be absolutely worthless. Avoid this disgusting place at all costs. Also its extremely not safe, cars get stolen, people get beat, dogs get beat, gunshots and shootings. Literally if you value your life, why would you choose to live here?
The view is nice. Thats about the only perk. If you have a billing/accounting issue or question you cant get ahold of anyone. I was told They work off of voice mails but fail to call you back by the time rent is due. I paid rent for a washer and dryer and then had it removed recently. I informed the office when maintenance removed them. I had talked to the office about it about two weeks before it was actually removed. Come time to pay rent, I was still charged the rent for the washer and dryer. Now no one is answering to correct the issue, and I was told to pay the full amount to avoid late fees. Absolutely not acceptable- why am I paying for something you knew you were taking from me and did take from me?Also- the office staff is horrible with communication and very unpleasant to deal with.ALSO about a week after moving in I had to flee my apartment because of an insane ant invasion- there were flying scout ants EVERYWHERE and all weekend I could not get anyone to get back to me about it. So for three days I couldnt even live in my new apartment. They never compensated me for those days.Do not bother living here- I promise you can find something better. Like- literally anywhere thats not here. I cant wait to get out.
I have not had a mailbox in over 3 months! I have been lied to about who is responsible for the mailboxes( in doing research I have found it was the complexes responsibility) they have lied and said that it was the post office clearly knowing it was their responsibility. I have lived here for several years and this is unacceptable. I give it 2 stars because Michelle is great and Casey the and the maintenance guys are good(well the ones that properly install a dishwasher, but didn’t). The only other draw about this place is the price. It’s shouldn’t take 3 months for me to still wait on a mailbox.
I have lived at Timber Top Apartments & Townhomes for over a year now. Its a clean and safe apartment complex with many wonderful amenities. But what sets it apart from others in my opinion is the people that work here. From my first visit to the leasing office until now, a year later, I have encountered nothing but friendly, accommodating, and efficient service. The maintenance staff responds to every request within the same day. They are polite, respectful of your living space, and resolve issues within minutes. It is truly a stress free and pleasant place to live! Highly recommend it.
Timber Top is the best. Ronald and Lawrence were so helpful and accommodating while guiding me through the apartment rental process. The apartments are spacious and clean and the staff are very friendly. I love the fact that Timber top had so many options in one of the best areas in Akron, Oh. Youre not going to find a better place with quiet scenic views and amenities in the city. I highly recommend this peaceful hidden gem to anyone seeking a great place to stay.
Meh. I could give you a list of my grievances but that would take entirely too long. Ive been unable to receive mail here because the apartment mailboxes have gone missing. My balcony is falling apart. Maintenance is slow to respond to requests. And theyre pretty expensive considering the age of the apartments. The townhomes where I live are the nicest and not really affected by criminal activity. So thats good. If you need space this is a good place. My unit is pretty spacious but there are a lot of detractors so proceed with caution.
Yeah... No. Well actually ehhhh?- Prepare to have your mail lost. They provide no help to the mail services in terms of clarity / placement. Amazon prime delivers to the door so theyre usually on point...- Its good for the pricing. Large space for a reasonable sum.- The public laundry takes a lot of abuse from families with kids. I also dont think the hot temp setting really exists with the laundry. (Apartment temp and water pressure are ok though)- It is close to nature, very comforting in its own way- nature + fiber internet is a recluses dream- bugs are abundant (cost of being by nature tho)- allergies are rough to those with sensitive noses- Maintenance is hard to get a hold of, seems organization is a little shoddy. But the people themselves are nice.- timber top is... Okay... That is until you need something. Then you realize no ones actually there(I dont think any building improvements are coming anytime soon- and its just old all around)my mail ... :( Limited edition scarf... Lost to the void ... Why the mail box USPS? Why not at the door :( (get a postbox If mail is important to you)
Oct 8th through Oct 11th 2021Cabin: Knotty by NatureOur stay with Timber Top has always been a great one, (5years)but this time it was not very good at all,and these cabins cost to much for the stay we had this time. Our cabin did not look the way the online pictures did. In the Theater Room the couch was falling apart, all the room sinks were clogged up, the freezer didnt work,(it linked),the ice machine didnt work until the day we were leaving, the dishes were chipped up, it took 30 minutes for the coffee pot to work, and the deck was very. dirty. House keeping needs to Communicate with the front office better.
We had a broken fridge and maintenance installed a new one for us today. Larry Smith was very helpful and very friendly throughout the whole process, made sure everything was cleaned up and in good working order before he finished. He was very professional and had fantastic personal manner!
I applied for a one bedroom apartment and received a call from Ron, one of the leasing agents, on a Friday afternoon. He told me my application was approved and asked me to set up an appointment with him to tour the three available units and discuss the terms of the lease. Due to my work schedule, the soonest I was able to come in was three days later on Monday. He said this was fine and I set up an appointment with him at 10 am. I was excited. From what I could see the community looked decent. When I showed up for my 10 am “appointment” Ron came to the door to inform me that all available units had already been rented out. I drove 35 minutes one way for him to tell me this. He could have simply called or emailed me. I completely wasted my time, effort, and money on the application fee. I can not believe the level of unprofessionalism and poor customer service this place has to offer. Extremely disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend Timber Top to anyone.
I would give 0 stars if I could. These are horrible, over-priced apartments. The walls are paper thin, you can literally hear everything your neighbors say, the floors are creaky and feel weak, the interiors look very cheap and unprofessional. God help you if you have neighbors above you. There are terrible bugs all the time, spiders, silverfish, fruit flies, stink bugs, etc. The roads are also in very bad condition. The maintenance workers have shown up drunk to my apartment on multiple occasions, and even when they were sober they didnt seem to know what they were doing. The power goes out intermittently all the time, literally dozens of times a year. The bathtub feels like its about to cave in, so showers can be exhilarating with the fear of sudden doom at any moment. A relaxing bath is completely out of the question. Temperature wise its very uncomfortable in the winter and nearly unbearable in the summer. Most apartments dont have opening windows so you just have to leave your doors open if you want fresh air.The office staff is usually rude and disrespectful, reminiscent of the South Park cable company. They could not be less helpful. The on-site laundry rooms are cobweb infested dimly lit hallways with over-priced old small machines that barely clean your clothes. Usually some are out of order. Much like the pool which often isnt open, and is crowded when it is open. Not being hyperbolic, I honestly dont have a single good thing to say about these apartments, and would easily consider them the worst place Ive ever lived. They bring great dishonor to their family. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this miserable place.
Of course its owned by AIY Properties... they dont take care of ANY of the places they own. The apartments are nice inside but the outside (trash, cigarette buds, and over grown lawns) makes you not want to move here at all.Not to mention they dont plow or salt during the winter...theres so many accidents in the parking area during that time.
I have lived here for about three months and it has been a great experience. The apartments are nice and clean and mine was beautifully refurbished. I love the light from all the windows in my unit, maintenance is quick with work orders, and the leasing office was extremely helpful and patient with all my questions. I looked at a lot of apartments in the area and this was by far the best around. Myself and my pooch are very happy to be a part of this great community!
I haven’t been able to really get a personal experience. It’s hard to reach anyone by phone, no email address I can contact, and I have to at least try to call to get some answers because none are really given to you when you first inquire. I’ve been approved, but I don’t know where to go from here. I was able to view two units that I wasn’t fond of. Smelled like urine & there were feces in the breezeway. I had to view apartments myself, which I understand due to COVID, but no one followed up & again I’m unable to reach anyone to ask questions about alternative units. I really wanted to live here because I liked the area & the staff seem friendly when I am able to speak to them. I just want to feel welcomed & cared for at a place I plan to be at for at least two years. I’m having to view & apply other places in the meantime.*Update: I made this post 2-3 weeks ago. Got a hold of someone the next day, person promised some agent would call me because the two apartments I looked at were rented & I had to wait until more 1 bedrooms came available. No one ever called me back so I just decided to sign somewhere else. Decent place as far as looks, but don’t hold your breath on anyone following up with you.
Lived in a few of these apartments here over several years. Heres my take: I was referred by a friend who said it was cheap, but the people in the office were terribly rude. Her neighbor was a drug dealer but didnt bother her and her boyfriend. Her boyfriend bought a gun.I moved in and found the apartments to be decent, depending what you get. Some are not maintained for decades and in terrible condition with rats, mold, you name it. Some are fine. The people in the office were terribly rude. Eventually I learned to talk to the manager, who I think was the owners wife. She was good. Then they sold and a realty company took over. Better people in the office, but heres the thing, the apartments and the community are the same.I referred a friend from work and within a month she came home to robber in her apartment who ran out through the window. Oh yeah, dont leave your windows open, people climb the building and rob you. That was in the newsletter. Guess she should have known.Your evenings will be filled with yelling, people honking horns, and gunshots. Your days are trash everywhere. It seems like a scenic area but you will not want to go for a walk. There really isnt anywhere to go, there are no sidewalks, and people gun it down the parking lot. I got passed while parking...Did I mention my neighbor was also a drug dealer? She assured me she could get anything, people came and went all night. I hope you like stinkbugs by the way. Some weird slime mold attaches to your faucets, I read it happens in some places but Ive never seen it?As I was moving out, my friend said something weird happened. She was driving up the entrance and the guy in the car in front of her was hanging out the window firing his gun randomly. Thats Timbertop! I said. You learn to say that after a while.
TimberFLOP. Don’t waste your time here. We applied, paid for our application to be told a property manager would call us the same day, never did. We called every day for a week to check when they were going to call and was told the next day or that afternoon every single phone call. Then to be told a week later no one took our banking information even though they sent us a confirmation email of withdrawal of funds for the application. Such a sad excuse for a rental property. I tried so hard to ignore the reviews on here but I shouldn’t have wasted my time. I signed at a different and better rental agency within 3 days of inquiring with competent management staff. We were passed around to multiple office staff on the phone only to be lied to about this property manager calling us EVERYDAY. Don’t waste your time here. Their management is as good as their roads of the property.
The move in process was so smooth and painless. Everyone was so great at letting you know how things work and your part in everything. At no time did I feel misled or confused about anything that was being told to me. The apartment itself was clean and well maintained and completely ready for me on the day I moved in. The complex is very pet friendly and it is perfect for anyone that has a dog. It is beautiful scenery to walk your dog in, or even if you dont have a dog and just want to have a great place to walk to get ready for work. i Have never lived in a place as gorgeous as this for my backyard. The building I live in is also very quiet and peaceful. All in all I would recommend Timber Top to anyone looking for a place that allows dogs. The price is great only 25 more dollars a month and no extra pet deposit. The staff that works in the office were all so great. You can tell when people are actually glad to get you moved in. I have felt very welcome since i first walked through that office door the first time. I love my apartment and look forward to living here for the next year.
Great place to live! Have only been here a short time, but love the amenities and location. The staff are amazing and will make you feel welcome and like a friend they havent seen in a while. Everyone I have met, thus far, is super friendly. The facility is secure and well lit. Absolutely love the finishes in the unit. If you are looking for a new place to call home in the area, I highly recommend Timber Top Apartments & Townhomes.
PLEASE DONT MOVE HERE OF ALL PLACES!!!! Oh my god you could not get a better warning!! They overcharge you constantly for everything and never explain why, they never answer their phones, some months they’ll make you pay WAY MORE then last months rent and threaten to evict you 1 day after the 1st of the month if rent isnt paid!! people get into FIGHTS IN THE STREET IVE HAD STUFF STOLEN FROM OUTSIDE MY APARTMENT, people have tried to break in to my apartment! apartment management doesnt do anything about it, POOLS NEVER BEEN OPEN literally please its so expensive to live here too!! dont go here please pick ANY OTHER APARTMENT besides this one
STAY AWAY. They tell you they have apartments but show you a completely different apart when you go to tour. We stayed for a year then they tried to give us the run around when we were leaving. It’s impossible to get ahold of anyone in the office and you can’t see a break down of your payments. The price may be good but you get what you pay for. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Melissa helped me find a unit I fell in love with. Unfortunately it was rented before my paperwork was complete. She, the property manager & the head of maintenance helped find another unit that I liked in the price range I wanted to stay in. They were all great, especially since it was the end of their shift & they should have been getting ready to leave.Update, moved out Nov 1, 2020 & just received an invoice from. CARLA IN MANAGEMENT SAYIN I OWE Novembers rent. I had provided a notice to vacate prior to moving & was directed to put my keys in the drop box & they couldnt find them. Had staff call me on 11/2 to ask if Id turned them in or if be charges & I informed her that they were in the drop box. Pet fees dont cover damage by pets. Theyre trying to charge over 1,000 for old frayed beat up carpet that my dog got into in 1 corner of the apartment near the livingroom closet. They are also trying to charge for drywall repairs that need to be made when their maintenance is the reason I had drywall issues in the first place. Overall, trying to scam me out of over 2,200 upon moving out. Yes, there are items that need handled, but not rent & a late fee & not a whole apartmentss worth of carpet at over 1,000. They also sent the invoice from 11/10/20 to my apartment address & not the provided forwarding address so I received it today, 1/6/21. No one had answered the office phone, called me back or responded to my emails about their mess ups.
The price and location were alluring, however it has been a nightmare living here. The price is obviously the result of a leasing agency passing on the savings of their staff onto the tenant as there hasnt been a single interaction with the office that has yielded any meaningful results. It has been over a month with an excessively leaking roof and it has been three months that Timber Top has been trying to charge me for renters insurance when I have continually provided proof of my own.If you live here, you will be leaving once your lease is up. Good Luck and remember the price isnt everything.
I absolutely loved the photos of the apartments- (they won’t allow you to view apartments until after you’re approved) I submitted an application on April 8 and was told I would get a response back 24-48 business hours (which is understandable) however I NEVER received a response back and we’re on 4/22 now) I called multiple times reached a rep and was told to leave a voicemail (no problem at all) which absolutely made no difference to the communication- I sent an email with my contact info (was actually emailing back and forth before I even submitted my application)STILL TO THIS DAY I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE OF APPROVAL OR DENIAL. I was not rude in my calls or emails so I don’t understand at all. Definitely a disappointment across the board and an application fee waisted for NO reason at this point-I actually drove 45 mins out of my way to turn my application in because I was told electronic copies weren’t allowed. I definitely wished I would’ve applied anywhere else- If you’re looking to apply here make sure you stay on top of communication IN PERSON because -they honestly could care less about potential renters.
If you like hearing everything and I do mean everything the neighbors do youll love it.If you want drugs, just wait, someone is bound to ask if you want any.I lived next to a constantly barking dog that it took four months for the management to do anything about. Make this place your LAST option for living. One last thing... maintenance WILL enter your apartment without notice! They Fixed my refrigerator and proceeded to enter my apartment twoore times after for no reason. They did at least leave a notice they were there. FOR NOTHING!
DO NOT MOVE HERE. Everyone that works in the office is rude. Maintenance never fixes anything properly. My bathtub is about to collapse and they refuse to fix it. The parking lot alone will ruin your car. The A.C. doesnt work and they have a huge problem with bed bugs. This place is absolutely disgusting. Do not move here. You can find a nice apartment for the same price range. Do not make the same mistake I did and move here. It is absolutely terrible. If I could give 0 stars I would. Seriously DO NOT MOVE HERE.
My BF and I have lived here at Timber Top for 10 years. We lived in our first apartment here for 4 years and then moved to a bigger one with a garage and fireplace for the last 6 years! This past year the property is under new ownership and while I see many improvements there are still many issues that need addressed. For one thing we used to be able to stop in the office and drop our rent check on our way to work, now the rent has to either be mailed to Cleveland I believe it is, or you have to pay on the Internet and there is an extra fee! $1 a month extra does not seem like much but over a year it becomes $12!Also the previous owners took all the rental records and the new owners have no idea that my boyfriend and I were never late with our rent for the 9 1/2 years we lived here under the previous owners! Not many of the residents here can say that and my concern is if I decide to leave here, I have no rental record or a reference for the last 10 years of my tenancy anywhere! That aside, I can see that they honestly want to improve our community. Maintenance issues are handled much more expeditiously when you call the office, always handled very professionally! We love our apartment but it is an old building and in the winter we have cold air that blows in our living room door because the building has settled and the door no longer seals tight, but that is not the new owners faultI love my apartment here and I look forward to seeing the many improvements I know they have planned for this complex! I would give it five stars except for the drafty living room, the boiler sometimes doesn’t provide adequate heat although it is free so that’s a plus, and the dumpsters are running over most weekends because we have no trash pick up.Debbi H.
Timbertop management/office staff are some of the most unhelpful, and rudest I’ve ever experience. They have a “no leeway” policy paying rent . Meaning if you pay your rent on the 2nd at 12:01 they charge you $35 and give you 30 days to vacate the premises. This is during a pandemic when I lost my job as a waitress.
When I first rented from them it was own by a family they were so nice. Everyone was great. Then they sold it to a company. When I moved in from original owners I had no deposit, always paid rent, had a cleaning lady so my place was always clean, no pets. When I moved out I gave my notice like it says to. I was out 3 days into the new month . So now they are sueing me for September which was the 3 days. And for October even though I didnt live there and I was out when I said. Plus they said there is a cleaning charge but can tell me why. There attorney never calls you back the office or corp. Will not talk to you.
This is a wonderful place to live. The property manager is a delight to talk to. They are on top of whatever needs to be fixed. Its very quiet here & I feel safe. The units are wonderful. My 2 bedroom feels like a private condo when I am home. I would definitely recommend living here to anyone !
One of the worst places to stay and I do not recommend anyone living here. Way overpriced and outdated. There are no lights in any of the rooms so you have to buy lamps, the heat NEVER WORKS EVER ! And the air conditioner are upstairs so in the summer ITS MISERABLE majority of the windows don’t open so be prepared to bake all summer long. And do not I repeat DO NOT accidentally spill anything on the walls because there is no way you’ll be able to clean them without all the paint coming off (which you’ll end up paying for). You can forget about talking to anyone in the office unless you go up there. They don’t return phone calls even after having you listen to a automatic system and leaving a voicemail. If you need any maintenance work done good luck there are only a select few people who actually care about fixing your apartment then you have the ones who curse and act like they aren’t at work when they are at your apartment just smoking cigarettes hanging around chilling but their the ones who get the free apartments. The new company that took over should actually spend their time trying to get these apartments in better shape instead of making the internet faster or putting poop bags out for irresponsible pet owners who more than 50% of them didn’t pay a pet deposit . I have water spots on my ceiling upstairs in my sons room and have called too many time to get someone to come look. Obviously this place is to worried about how the outside looks rather the inside. Honestly it never was a great place to live even with the new management this place is steady going down hill. I may not know this new company very well but the few encounters that I did have with them haven’t been pleasant especially when it came to discussions about old management. As you can see from the reviews that this place has a lot of hidden issues for sure.P.S. make sure your not getting charged for maintenance work cause sometimes they’ll charge sometimes they won’t.Good luck.
If I could give TimberTop zero stars I would. I have been trying to rent a 2 bedroom loft for 4 and a half months. I did not recieve any calls for 2 whole months of calling and when I did i kept being told Id be called back but never was. I was passed around to 4 people to no avail. I spoke to Meghan and she assured me she had a 2 bedroom loft available that no one was looking at and i offered a deposit and 6 months rent up front bc of covid i have not been able to find a place bc landlords are taking money and selling apartments and not holding them as promised. They ran background and still sold the apartment. I was then told by Larry that they had a bunch of apartments being available this week he was waiting on his property manager and he promised he would call me AS SOON as it opened up. Never got a call. I called 10 minutes ago and a man answered told me no apartments are available. Refused to give me the property managers number. Now me and my kids have to find some place before september but we cant bc of all the fake promises and we was told wed be called to process paperwork for 4 different apartments and everytime I was called they gave them away. I am a teacher and a single mom who works her behind off. We have been bamboozled and lost 300$ in apartment holds and fees and prolly more since february and we are now in July and have nothing to show. Good background, good rental history, always pay bills on time, take care of my properties and yet I stand to lose my career i paid 800 dollars to get a degree in bc we may become homeless due to negligence and blatant lies. This place is a waste of time and everyone lies.
Moved here last fall and have had a terrible experience. Since spring we have had a literal lake of a puddle in our parking lot that they have not fixed and Ive called several times. I asked for a work order to be put in to fix it and they never recorded it. If you like thin walls, then this place is for you! I can hear complete conversations from my neighbors below me and to the side. Can even hear them coughing. Also, kids are running around outside constantly and screaming in the parking lot. They stomp up and down the stairs. The place is littered with trash. There is no parking at night and multiple broken down cars in the parking lot. Timber Top also dumped broken up concrete down the side of our hill and never filled it in with dirt to cover it up! There are broken orange barrels and wood in the parking lot as well. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! Spend a little extra a month if you can and go for a nicer apartment, the cheaper price here is not worth it!! The office acts like theyre going to help/do something but never do. I emailed the property manager and never got a response. Ive called and left my phone number and no response to fix anything.
I moved here several years ago and was very happy at first. It had a woodsy feeling and it was fairly quiet. The staff at the time were honest about the problems with squirrels chewing the coax cables which apparently made cable TV unreliable at times. I appreciated the honesty. As of now though, Im only here for the price. Since the new management took over this place has had several changes some good, and some bad. The good changes include that they updated the small laundromat facilities attached to some of the buildings. They also have made it more simple to pay rent online, as the previous site wasnt straight forward. Theyve put out poop stands that have bags to clean up dog poop. They had AT&T come out and install fiber internet throughout the complex. However, In the winter, the plow barely plows the worst of the hills, doesnt bother touching the empty parking spaces as done before, and doesnt show up after around 9pm. For those of us who work midnights this is a problem. They used to have cameras that were turned on watching the parking areas. They had glaring blind spots and this was made clear when my Girlfriends car was plowed into by a SUV coming down a icy hill. He hit three cars total, two of them completely off camera, then fled the scene. The new management has since turned these cameras off without notifying the residents. They also raised the rent, while making it mandatory you pay online, then charge you a convenience fee to use the service. There was recently a couple of people who were mugged somewhere in the complex and this was reported to the police, but not notified to the residents to keep an eye out for this. The list goes on, but if youre looking for a cheap place this may still be the cheapest, but far from somewhere youd enjoy being at.
Lived here for over 8 years, 2005-2013. They were fairly good with repairs and maintenance when I lived there. Some of my neighbors were trashy, and the place is starting to look dumpy. It would be a huge undertaking to get this place up to par though. The streets need paved, shrubs trimmed, new panels for the buildings. You get what you pay for.
Ive been living in my one bedroom apartment for just about a month now. Now I suppose some people are a bit more picky than me, but I was willing to move anywhere due my previous experience with my roommates at the apartments I was at before I moved here. Despite some of the flaws upon moving in that involved a dirty carpet and a couple other things that shouldve been taken care up by a cleaning staff before the next tenant were to move in, I was happy. Affordable rent with most most utilities included has been great. If you can get past some of the office staff members who arent very kind in person or over the phone, its nothing to make yourself miserable over. I look at it as I really only have to deal with them once a month, to pay my rent, unless I have any maintenance issues, but even then it would probably be no more than a phone call to them, then just dealing with the maintenance staff, who Ive encountered a couple times and they are great. Some people are hard to please and are easily agitated with any little thing that goes wrong or any rude human being they encounter in the process, but me overall, Im pleasantly surprised with how well things have gone. I toured my apartment and put my application fee down that day. The staff was incredibly flexible waiting for me to submit all the papers I needed for them to approve me. Thanks for getting me out of my previous hell hole Timber Top!
As of June 1st I will have been living at timbertop for three months. So far I have had a good experience. Maintenance responded a day after I called, but they are only emergency requests right now due to covid. There are things about the apartment that I dont like- the dish washing machine is not great quality. I save time washing them myself-The floors are uneven in the kitchen and living space (I have a one bedroom loft) paint chips, rusty front door, screen door coming apart, chips in the kitchen counter, paint from stair railing on walls. Bathroom door chipped a bit. Cobwebs nobody can reach in the vaulted ceiling around the sunroof in bathroom-it gets hot like an attic upstairs in the loft-no central air, only heat-it does seem a bit pricey for the shape the apartments are in but all utilities except internet and electricity are included in rent-outdated appliances (fridge, dishwasher, oven/stove, cabinets/counters)And there are many things that I like about Timbertop-most utilities included-no pet deposit, only a pet rent-I Love the location, it reminds me of hiking trails. (I havent lived here in winter yet so the hills and curves of the lots and roads may be a problem, theyre also uneven in many many places)-close to many local hotspots, biking and walking trails. About 15 minutes from Cuyahoga and 15 minutes from downtown Akron.-Responsive team (so far) they did a great job finding me an appartment and answering all my questions-new carpet in my apartmentI am giving a 4 star review because, while there are some things I expected to be better (at least a working dish washer) overall its nice. If I wanted super floors and fancy doors I can look somewhere in the city where Ill have to pay upwards of $1000 a month for the same amount of space, crowded by cars and other individuals. Timbertop is nice and homey..I like the rustic style they have (lots of wood and wicker things) and I can hear the birds, smell the rain, and see beautiful green trees. There is also a small lake in the lower half of the area. I think this is a good a(mostly) affordable place for people just starting out. That being said I wouldnt be able to afford it living on my own. But its not hard to move in with a roommate/significant other.Only two dogs/cats allowed which is sad. I would happily pay an extra fee to get another kitty to live with me. They do allow caged animals such as rabbits, birds, reptiles, etc. That arent restricted (no exotic breeds obviously)If youre considering, Id say go for it. You start out in a 12 month lease and after that its supposed to be month to month. However the lease does say they RAISE your rent if you renew so I most likely wont be staying here in another year unless I dont find anything cheaper/nicer/better location (thats not super cool, in my books). After 6 months or so Ill update again.
8 months into my lease, and I wish I could leave. I understand they are backed up because of covid, but when I call for weeks about mold growing in my wallsI expect a real solution. Not some lady come and spray a couple spots of one wall with some bleach, and then they put a fan in front of the wall. They just don’t seem to care when I call. I have already had to throw out some furniture, and I really don’t want my 3 month old to be breathing in this mold. All they care about is money.
Been living in timber top for 4 years in 2 apartments and have lost most of our property to water damage, experiencing 5 floods (one was a flood of sewage). Someone broke into our mailbox last night, and 3 others. Called timbertop office to report it and they told me its not their problem and to call the post office lol. So we called the post office and they said its timber tops responsibility. We called timber top back and now theyre fixing it. Oh, and our downstairs had a pipe burst that is connected to the boiler heats radiator over the weekend. Sprayed a combo of boiling hot water and anti freeze all over our new couch. Luckily that didnt damage it because the office told us someone would be out to replace our carpet and clean and now it is day 4 with no show or call. I called Monday and Tuesday and was told theyd be there. Tell everyone you know not to move into these apartments. 2/8/19 UPDATE: They responded to this review instead of just fixing the problem. Our apartment is still needing maintenance but instead of doing their jobs they are replying to Google reviews. I was in the office yesterday and they are now telling me to come back?
Was a nice place to live, but if I could give it less then one star I would. Here is why. Had an emergency reason to move out before lease date. Was life threatening. Was not able to pay the amount for awhile. Yes my fault and take full responsibility. Debt got paid in full. Year later they are trying to come after me for amount. I now have an garnishment notice for this amount. Tried calling the court and I have to request an hearing for something that is paid for.it’s harassment and they will not get away with it. I don’t understand how something that is paid of goes for garnishment. Will be looking into harassment. This is not fair.
So my water heater broke back in November and they didn’t fix it properly fast forward 3 months later THE ONLY PERSON who fixed my stuff correctly was the new guy ! His name is Larry he does an excellent job and takes his time on everything he does! He also came back the next and fixed a couple things for me ! He’s about to turn the maintenance around and I can tell !
Moved here last December and have already been in 3 different apartments here. The first one had bats in the ceiling that got into our apartment, it took them 2 weeks to even come out to check out the problem after calling the office at least 8 times. The second apartment was nice besides the fact we didnt even want to move again and we paid almost 100 dollars more than our first place for a smaller apartment when we were forced to move in the first place since they said they could not get rid of the bats. Also the way these places are built are terrible.
The apartments are OK I guess, although if anything is wrong the maintenance men are pretty slow to get to it. Theres been a wasp nest by our stairs since last summer that they somehow cant find at all. I suppose it would be more tolerable if it wasnt for the neighbors. Its like a step above section 8. Delinquent children, loud music, and we have to call the police regularly about what we could only imagine is domestic violence right next door. Hard enough to knock pictures off of our walls. Great when youre trying to put kids to sleep. Finally the office staff are the most patronizing, condescending, people Ive ever had to deal with. Nothing better than literally hearing them scoff at you when you ask them questions about your rent. Oh and rent totally went up at the beginning of the year, for maintenance expenses. Literally making I not worth it to live here.If anyone comes across any nice places in the falls or north hill, please let me know.
You are very welcome I change my rating I absolutely loved staying in your apartment complex it was a very peaceful, beautiful and cool community to be a part of! The best thing is it isnt a picturesque Metroparks light settings the Hills and the woods go perfect with the style anesthetics of your buildings.I shared a two bedroom loft-style apartment with cathedral ceilings my bedroom had patio door with deck overlooking the cliff. It was so relaxing peaceful to sit out on my deck on a hot Summers night and look at the lights throughout the woods feeling somewhat like I was a child at summer camp.Which was much needed at that time of my life I cant thank you guys enough if I didnt own a home of my own now I would still be living there!
Pretty decent apartments for the money (besides run down buildings and bad air conditioning).. but horrible staff. All of the older staff there are extremely rude and condescending besides the newbies they hire (that come and go). Every time you go in with a question they act like you are stupid and they are above you or something. I dont think they understand the concept of customer service. Im not the first person to mention this either...They dont care at all about their residents or complaints and it shows. Im sure they will reply to this review with some witty remark and explain themselves. So get this. When I moved out of my apartment, I followed the terms of lease agreement and cleaned everything etc. and they gave me attitude about opening the door so I could get the rest of my things the next day since I already returned the keys so I didnt get charged for another month. Could have been done in 5 minutes and they had to make it some big deal. Find somewhere where they actually take care of you and any problems, instead of being wrote off as just another stupid tenant.
The apartments are sub par at best and the only thing worth while is the cheap price. However with my recent personal experience, they have lost my business. Never have I ever experienced such awful and immature business in my life. They need to hire all new people in the office if they want to be successful.
Ive been here for almost 2 years. Came from out of state with a friend from high school. We rented a 2Br 1Ba loft for $725 a month. After our 6 month lease was up, she went home. I stayed. When it came about to take her off the lease, we went through weeks of hassle. Poor management for sure because apparently they had lost both of our letters. How hard is it to file papers and keep organized?I then moved out months later and ended up having to pay an $80 fee because my kitchen and bathroom was not clean enough. I died inside because my grandmother raised me to be a neat freak all my life and I know how to deep clean. Some of the receptionist are rude and I see Im not the only one who has encountered this. The washers and dryers are bunk; some work some do not. The dryers are so old, it takes me 2 cycles to dry one load of laundry. When people empty the lint trap, they just toss it wherever due to no garbage can.Great location, just horrible management.
We moved into Timber Top Apartments and Townhomes a year ago and we love it! We are planning to re-sign our lease. The staff is professional, kind, and accommodating. We have been able to make many great friends in our time here. Shout out to Larry for being the best building manager in Akron!
I woke up to a ceiling leak in my bedroom on Sunday, June 2. Called emergency maintenance, and he put a drain hole in the ceiling to relieve the built up water, provided tarps and bucket. After hearing nothing Monday, I called Tuesday to find out when it could be dealt with. I was told my unit and the one above me were different management, and the other office would have to be contacted. The source of the leak was simply clogged gutters above my bedroom, but still was not dealt with by Wednesday that week, when we had heavy rain again. The ceiling was still leaking, and looked noticeably worse. I wasnt home, but returned around 9pm to find a large part of the ceiling had fallen onto the top part of my bed. If it had happened a couple hours later, I could have been injured.I called maintenance again in the morning, and they said they would come back to pull up the rug to let it dry, or bring some dehumidifiers. They never returned. I asked the advice of my friend, who is a real estate attorney, he agreed there was negligence which could have caused me injury, he encouraged me to keep trying to contact the office.Rained and leaked again this past week, and I wasnt home to try to contain any leaking, so further damage was possibly done in the unit below mine. I called again on June 14, 12 days later, and someone finally came out to start on the problem. They said it may be next week before the interior damage could be repaired.I had asked about a rent discount for 1 month, as I missed about 10 hours of work waiting for maintenance, and feeling I had to stay home to contain the leaking with buckets. Plus having my room cleared out for maintenance to have room to repair for what will be 3 weeks. I was denied any kind of discount on rent for this experience.Until this experience, maintenance has responded promptly, if not competently, to any problems. I blame poor management for the constant delays. As of today, July 7, the roof has a temporary fix (tarp?), my ceiling has been fixed, but they said someone would come to replace the carpet, but been a week again.
Dont move here. Terrible resident services since they only care about selling apartments. The place is littered in garbage. Trees fall and trap you in your apartment, mail boxes are broke into, dumpster fires, cars being broken into. If My rent wasnt so high I wouldnt be here. But I can not afford to move since all they care about taking your money rather then the wellbeing of their residents. Maintenece requests are outsourced so dont count on the office to help you. And its guarenteed there will be some issue with an apartment when you get it. Be it your a/c doesnt work, stained counters, chipped tiles, peeling wallpaper. Guarentee you will be miserable.
I have lived here for four years with my husband and the experience of living here gets worse every year. The office staff is incredibly rude and insensitive to their tenants’ needs. Getting them to keep up on maintenance has also been a battle.AIY has taken over managing the apartments and coerced us into signing another year’s lease. If we stayed on our month to month plan and continued to save money for about six more months, they were going to raise our rent over $70 a month.Recently, we alerted them on Wednesday (the COLDEST day of this year) at 12:00 pm that we did not have heat. We left with our one year old child for the day to give maintenance the space to work and came back at 9:00 that night to go to bed. No one had come to fix our heat. No. One. In nine hours. My husband and I reached out to the after hours line and one of the maintenance technicians did come and get the heat started. He said that he would need to come back the following day to make sure that it was fixed properly because he gave us a temporary fix. It is Saturday night and he still has not come back. We have called twice because our thermostat doesn’t work and the heat has been at 85 degrees since Wednesday night and NO ONE will fix it. Meanwhile, we are responsible to pay the ridiculous electric bill for all of this energy being used to make our home into a sauna.DO NOT move here unless you like getting overcharged and not having your basic needs met. The company that manages this property gives ZERO cares for the people living here. Needless to say, we will not be “encouraged” or coerced into signing any more leases with AIY.
I love living here, Ive been living here for about a year and a half with my hubby and doggy. Never have had any problems with my neighbors or any crazy people. I love the interiors, theyre really good quality material. Its really nice and fancy. The price is amazing for a 3 bedroom. Literally super close to everything.
I’m actually really surprised to see any negative reviews. I’ve wanted to live here for a while and my experience has been nothing short of professional and pleasant. I can’t wait to get into my new apartment. The skylights and the garden tubs are a bonus!! It’s also very private. Lots of nature around. Very pretty.
Overall my wife and I have been having a wonderful time at Timber Top. Very peaceful in our building, but friends and family that have lived here in the past, have said it depends on which buildings you live in. College kids make up the majority of tenets, but I have seen all ages around the complex. Your mileage may very with noise levels.I cannot speak for others, but I have not had any issues with office staff. They are always pleasant and willing to answer my questions. On the rare occasion that we make maintenance calls, the techs are very kind, communicative about arrival time and quick. Maintenance works very hard to keep the drives and streets as clear as possible of snow in the winter, but keep in mind that parking stalls/bays are not as easily cleared. Unless you have a garage in your lease, it is pointless to shovel the parking bay as you will likely be parked someplace else when you return. Though I recommend you keep one for emergencies. This place is great for young couples getting started.-Chris
Its okay. Its the lowest rent you will find in the area including some utilities in some of the apartments. Be wary of the appliances and old style setting of the apartments though. Make note of any issues you may have while viewing apartments before you decide to move in. Have any and everything that you want fixed before you actually sign the agreement. Overall its decent though. No bugs really besides normal spiders etc. Some people have dogs cats etc. Alot of kids walk around so be careful driving. My only concern is that they do have maintenance who can walk into your home at anytime when conducting a work order. I have had no problems with any stolen property or anything but its just a heads up. They do give you a call before they come. Not anything luxury but definitely the best for the price.
I live in building 5. When I first looked at the place I thought this loft was really cute. We waited 3 days for the place to be “ready”They told us they would be cleaning it, fixing the broken screen door, repairing the rotting bathroom countertop etc. after 3 days, the only change they made was make our apartment smell like weed. This was my first experience with maintenance but we didn’t have anywhere else to go and already paid our first month. We had no choice.Since, our toilet has broken 3 times, our leaking sinks have never been fixed in our 10 months here, our leaking roof has been looked at twice and nothing has been done.It sounds like we’ve had maintaince out a lot, right? Nope. When I call in for an issue, it’s been 2-3 problems each time and they only come out to fix 1 of the 3 issues. They say we need a second and third order for each individual issue. I work full time, and I’d prefer to be home so the maintenance guys actually fix it right and maybe not stink up my house with weed? But that’s not an option. They will come whenever they want, and requesting a time, or even an all day timeframe on a day I can request off work is not an option. They just come right in, and if you don’t give permission, they don’t come.Once my dishwasher was leaking into the apartment below while I was at work. I was unaware so I didn’t report the issue. Without knocking or calling me, they entered and caught my girlfriend in her underwear. My lease is up on 4-30-19 and I got a notice to come in and discuss renewal.I explained to Jen at the office that I was not renewing because of all the maintance problems. She had less than a third of all our issues in her system because they will only address issues one at a time. She was so rude to me and my partner. She was almost laughing at how upset we were with the place. She put in a work order for 1 out of 5 of my issues. The guy showed up at 9 am the next day. I work from 2-11 and asked that they come back in the afternoon. My girlfriend would be home and I really just wanted to sleep before work. That was 3 days ago and of course they never came back. This is going to be a long 2 months I have left.I’ve read the negitive reviews and each one always has a response from the “owner” that apologizes and asks the renter to call the office. If I get a response I ask you not to ask me to call the office. They haven’t been any help for the last 10 months, and they were so cruel to my girlfriend and I last time I expressed a concern.Bottom line: calling is not a solution at timbertop.I’d rather manually flush my toilet.I’d rather drink the rain water from the bucket under my leaking roof than try to turn on my broken sink you all haven’t fixed sooner than call and be abused by your staff.
Decent place to live. Can’t get rid of the ant infestation no matter how much I clean. Reported this to the office. Maintenance came in a timely manner and fixed what was wrong with my appliances. Complicated rent payment system. Charge an extra $21.00 to pay with a debit card, and they make it hard for you to split rent cost. It’s frustrating.
Worst customer service experience ever. Every apartment that I have lived in I have called and got an answer immediately. When calling for. Maintenance request, billing, or anything you may need you have to leave multiple voicemails and still may not receive a call back. Looking at other reviews a lot of people agree and they will comment on this post saying call them and I will call and still not get a answer definitely cannot wait until our lease is up
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Wish I could give 0 stars! Horrible and extremely unprofessional leasing office. Apartments look cute, but I swear, they’re held together with sticky tack! They fall apart after a week of living there and I’m sure you’ll be stuck paying for that at the end. Leasing office doesn’t put in work orders, they don’t keep appointments that you make TOGETHER. And staff is coincidentally NEVER in the office or “available” when you need to speak with them. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemies!
I keep asking why there is a dumpster in a parking spot instead of the designated pad 20 feet away and they wont do anything. They told me it is not a priority. It should be, we have people parking in the roundabout, and walkways when there is a dumpster taking a spot for me to walk by and smell everyday. Im not sure what their priorities are? I know it is not landscaping, building maintenance, I mean look at this place -- Timberland village is ignored. Not my first run in with managment either, I gave up asking them to fix things awhile ago. I dont want to lease another apartment before buying but at this rate its not looking good.
I lived here for about a year. My car was broken into 5 times, each time more damage done. I told the office about this and their response was make a police report. There were kids above my apartment, single parents who had stuff was stolen and mine - the office did nothing. They said they had the police drive by twice a day. I never saw them. The office staff were unhelpful, rude, and often pushed me aside. There was a month that I was sent evection notices after paying. This was right when AIY bought the property. I have a family member who worked for AIY that I confirmed my check with. Timber top tried to charge me for their screw up. The whole two weeks I called the office daily trying to resolve the issue and every day I got no answer, no help, and they said just wait, it will go through. I got more letters and finally an eviction notice. I figured it was just a new system thing until it lasted two weeks. I paid my rent on time. It was an awful experience - please save yourself the hassle. There are so many other nice places to move near Akron. My bathtub was clogged when I moved in and maintenance was prompt but still didn’t really fix the issue because it never drained. I was missing doors on my cabinets that they said they would order and never did. My door locked me in once and they changed the door knob and screen door, and left all the trash and old stuff on my porch. I was on vacation, and my neighbors complained and I got a letter saying not to leave trash out…. Lol.I was trying to find somewhere affordable to live during college - which I did but you can honestly find somewhere for the same price that is safer, cleaner, and with staff that will have a normal conversation with you. My mailbox was always broken into and my mail stolen, my ceiling leaked and was unfixable (????????) It seems like they are in over their head. I lived in the front, once I walked around just to look at what else was there. I walked past an apartment door wide open, clothes and trash everywhere (mid day) to see a person passed out with needles everywhere. Scared me so bad I wont go in there ever again. When I told the office, they said it wasn’t a priority. WHAT!!?? I was not at all looking for some fancy apartment, I knew what I was getting into – but the office was next level bad and the fact they lost my payment scared me. I even brought my bank statement confirming that they cashed the check time stamped and they said it was not enough information. The only good thing about this place is that it taught me how to be an adult – stick up for yourself - and they allowed pets. My neighbors were all nice and it was close to a lot of bars and places to eat.
While my apartment is nicer with faux hardwood floors, and the maintenance teams are polite and prompt, literally every building has someone that must have sitting around and smoking weed 24/7 as a job title. Ive lived in my apartment since September, and every day twice a day my neighbors are lighting up. Its really irritating that my 9 month old infants clothes smell like weed unless i spend $150 a month of my own money to buy febreeze.Update: Since posting, we have reached out to management about our neighbors (they never called us back), my neighbors leave nasty notes on our vehicles, AND my car has been keyed by said neighbors. We will not be renewing our lease...would give zero stars for the zero amount of effort they put into protecting their tenants if I could.
Lived here for 2 and a half years. When we first moved in the staff in the rental office (for the most part) were quite dull and incompetent to say the very least. I had so many problems with them that should have never escalated to a point of me screaming into the phone and in the office. HOWEVER.....they have since switched to a new owner and our process for exiting our lease was simple and stress free. Other than the problems with the rental office staff in the beginning, my fiancé and I had a great stay. The apartment itself was newly renovated when we moved in and we made full use of the fireplace available in our apartment. The maintenance staff always fixed everything in a timely manner and the grounds crew were attentive and friendly. We did not want to leave but our lives were heading into a different direction so we were forced to leave what we called Home for the duration of our entire relationship. Memories made here will forever be in our hearts and Timbertop will be a staple in our lives together.
Beautiful views, gorgeous pool, and really cool (if older) apartment setups! The people who complain about the office staff are insane - if youre not a rude jerk when you contact the office, then theyre very nice and always happy to help you. Maintence is really fast, usually same day, and the walkways are always quickly salted and cleared in the winter. Parking is sometimes difficult, but garages arent expensive and seem to be usually available. This is an AWESOME place to live and Id recommend it to anyone! :)
Absolutly grabage organization; lived here for a little over 2 years and it was a horrible experience. The apartments are disgusting and old. They all smell like mold/mildew. They don’t show any initiative to clean the outside and don’t do anything about the numerous number of tenates that let their pets poop/pee on the walkways. But the absolutly worse thing is the front office. My last month I was double charged for rent and they said I would get my money back quickly; well two months later I still haven’t seen a reimbursement check, come to find out they charged me for multiple things that they specifically told me not to worry about; I was told not to clean the carpet because it was getting replaced, well guess who had to pay for the replaced carpet. Please do yourself a favor and don’t get involved with Timber Top Apartments; rent may seem cheap but you get what you pay for; gross apartments and incompetent management.
I just moved in yesterday. This review is based off of my experience with the rental office. At first it was definitely a bumpy start and some wires got crossed. Originally I left a 1 star review but Im updating my review. Allison resolved all of the issues and really went the extra mile for my family and I! I appreciate her and she was such a pleasure to work with. Allison you are definitely an asset To Timber Top and really care about your renters!
So I was thinking about moving here me and my girlfriend into a 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment took us weeks to find a apartment we went back and forth from work days off hours in and out apartments until we found one we both like paid the application fee plus 300$ to hold this apartment me and my girlfriend work a lot and she back and forth to the air force we told them we will move in exactly 30 days they said perfect this 300 will secure the apartment now today they call is and tell us they gave the apartment away . To someone that needed the apartment now and since we moving in 30 days we can give u another one. Now Im tick I give u money out my pocket for u to secure this apartment and u give it to someone else . Now this is not how u run business and second why are u showing apartment that already been claimed I am not moving here and u shouldnt either they do ------ business
The manager and her team are a pleasure to work with- They always think outside the box to resolve any problems that may arise! Every time we walk in the office they are always laughing and make you feel right at home and most of all welcomed. I would recommend the apartments to anyone looking.
My daughter Chanel stays in timbertops and she loves it. I come to watch my grandchildren and everything is beautiful her apartment is very spacious. Shes staying for another year and Im so happy for her. She have everyone wanting to come to timbertops. The only problem is my grandchildren put Ketchup on the wall and I was cleaning it up and the paint came off the wall.
My girlfriend and I have lived here for almost 4 months and are very dissatisfied with everything so far. To begin, there never seems to be anyone accepting phone calls in the office and often times you get no answer. We have filed numerous work orders for our roof over the past several months because it leaks every time it rains it still hasnt been resolved. Additionally, when we were viewing the apartment we were informed that there arent issues with noise regarding other residents and this is not the case. We have filed several noise complaints and nothing has been resolved. One neighbor blares music constantly and it can be heard over our fans and TV. Another neighbor constantly yells and argues with their roommate. We even had to call the police late in the evening because we literally could hear someone being physically assaulted. Once we confronted TimberTop about this, all they did was have us file a noise complaint and have us call the police if we hear it again. So really, TimberTop has done nothing to reassure us they care about their residents safety, comfort, or concerns.
Since living here (2 and a half years) weve experienced mold that made us ill, parts were stolen off of our cars twice, one car was broken into, and our apartment was broken into and my things stolen. Ive complained, but I only ever get the voicemail when I call and nothing has ever been done about it. The rent is too high anyway, but its WAY TOO HIGH for things like this to be continually happening and having nothing done to even attempt to deter it.
If I could give them zero stars I would. This has been one of the worst apartments Ive ever lived at. Nothing works in the apartment (dishwasher doesnt work, heating and cooling system doesnt work). There was a leak in my bathroom that caused a hole, and when they fixed it, they didnt fix the leak and just patched it up (starting to discolor and become another hole). I had a huge leak that flooded my room. And most recently, one of their tree branches fell on my car, and when I asked to speak to the manager they called me back and said they dont cover it. No Sorry about your car nothing. Plus every time you call their office they are the rudest people ever. I am so so so done.
This place is a scam. They will tell you they have a place available and have you do an application, and pay the application fee. Then told me I was accepted (when they never did a background check on me) and was told they had no places available. So they basically just steal peoples application fees and lie about actually doing the background check. Scam! And I have plenty of proof, as everything is recorded and documented.
Reading through these reviews, I can relate to a bunch of them. Ive been staying at Timbertop for a few years now, and all-in-all Im very satisfied. The Good:The VIEWS! It is gorgeous here! I love walking outside my door and being immediately greeted by ponds, streams, and nature. For this price, you wont find a better looking place to start your day to. There is also a beautiful (outdoor) pool with a fantastic view. Finally, of course, the price. The Bad:The drivers and parking lots. People utterly disregard posted stop signs and it does not seem to be enforced at any capacity. Make sure to designate where your kids can play, because there are foolish drivers at all days / times. You will hear your neighbors, but the walls arent paper thin, so when humans do what we do and have fights or arguments or be loud in general, those are heard. In addition to this, there are lots of break-ins in the parking lot, particularly for cars that dont have alarms. Ive had thousands of dollars worth of my stuff stolen from the parking lot, including my ENTIRE MOTORCYCLE. Do not park your bike outside here, and make sure your car alarm is working. I dont hold some grudge against Timbertop for the actions of thieves, but it is definitely something worth mentioning. The Ugly:Other reviews have said a lot about the management and office staff. My experience has varied, but is usually positive or neutral. I honestly think that just like with all humans, there are good days and bad days. The more I understand and figure out an issue before I bring it to them, the better it is handled. The Bottom Line (TL:DR):Would be 5 stars, except for the two things I mentioned above: Lack of effective road safety measures, and instances of parking lot burglary. Otherwise, I love it here. My neighbors are good people, I carefully chose the right spot for me while looking before deciding (this is essential), and I have felt safe and comfortable at all times. Cant ask for too much more at the price.
Some of the workers are nice and easy going.there is a worker here that was extremely rude gave me an attitude and had a tantrum because supposedly I was in her parking spot I look around and I didnt see anything state it was Hers I feel if youre having a Day dont bring it to work with you. AnD also check around to see if there was a spot for me to park and I was told I could park anywhere.
Took my 35$, next day told me my application was denied and said they couldn’t tell me why and to call their 1800 number, they said they’d text me the number and never did. Lame waste of 35$ with no explanation. I make more than enough money and am not a felon nor have i ever been evicted. 2 stars only because the leasing agent I talked to was nice to me, big improvement over the last staff from a few years ago
I lived here for close to 8 years, up until 2013. Im glad Ive finally worked my way up in the world to not have to live here anymore. I saw the quality of this place deteriorate over the years, mostly due to the trashy scum that they allow to live here. The walls were paper thin, so you could hear things like the intimate details of neighbors making love, or people peeing. My first apartment here was a one bedroom with young kids that ran around like a herd of elephants above me, stomping on the floor all day. Towards the end of my living here, the trashiest people on earth moved next door. They were constantly home, since they probably didnt work. I could smell pot smoke radiating from that unit. They screamed, yelled, threw things, fought, and lived in filth. I think they were eventually evicted right before I left. Also, the rental office caught fire before I moved out, probably because of something shady like some pissed off tenant or T-top looking for insurance money to replace the building.
Pros: Beautiful apartments, nice location near Cuyahoga Valley, inexpensive rent.Cons: Where do I begin... we moved in and there was all ready a ton of stuff wrong with our apartment the first day. Both closet doors broken, garbage disposal and kitchen sink didnt work, and only one air conditioner worked. Today (3 months later), we have NO working air conditioner & it has been between 70 and 90 degrees the last two weeks. The management and the women in the office have been EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. They have not been helpful at all. They pretty much told us they have no idea whether or not they will fix our air conditioners and quite frankly they dont care. We have a child living here with us as well. Also, we told them we want to be here if someone is going to come in and work on our apartment. Twice now, someone has been in here without our permission! When you tell the office, they do not care. It is NOT worth the low rent at all. Please just stay away from Timber Top. Lots of people warned us of this before we moved in, and we didnt listen to them. I hope youll heed this advice. There are PLENTY of places around Akron to live. While we love the actual apartment we are in, we will be moving out of here as soon as our lease is up (which is unfortunately another 9 months).
Currently a resident here I have black mold growing in my shower and throughout the apartment timber top refuses to take care of it. I have called numerous times complaining, “maintenance” came to look at it and haven’t done anything the 4 times they’ve came but told me to put bleach on it which I have done and it does nothing but continue to grow I’m suffering respitory problems from it and been to the doctors numerous times for medication. There are bats in my ceiling, my hot water cuts off and on the toilet leaks through the floor and has destroyed my bed from it. I am withholding paying my rent because none of the problems are taken care of this has been going on for months and now I am threatened with eviction though there are many problems that they refuse to take care of. Bottom line is do not move here they do not care about their tenants, everything is outdated and they offer 0 help and have no compassion for people spend the extra money I promise you living here is not worth the bargain price.
I lived here for about a year now. Mold has been growing in my bathroom for a while. Just clumps if black stuff and goo all over the inside of my toilet and my tub drain and sink drain. Maintenance never returns our calls. They never fix anything. There’s a lady at the leasing office named ( JEN ) she was very rude about it but the older lady was amazing I think her names michelle. Anyways the other lady was just really rude (Jen) and nonchalant about the situation & kept interrupting us while we were trying to explain the issue. I also told them a few months ago that my mailbox kept getting broke ito and to fix the lock. They said they fixed the lock & to come get a key but I can still open the mailbox with my finger!!
Unfortunately with the new owners its down right dangerous in the winter! They dont salt the roads anymore, let go of majority of maintenance staff, dont do anything about noisy neighbors AND increased rent on top of it! After 8 years Im leaving. Bitter sweet I loved my apartment but its not worth the hassle with AIY running things now 🙁
I will write this in sequence from what I feel is the least concerning to most concerning.1) On our first day our apartment floors were messy. White paint was splattered on the floors and the floors were dirty the office manager was supposed to be informed of the matter. Michelle (WHO IS AWESOME) gave us our walk through and the cleanliness was pointed out..... Michelle explained she would foreword the matter to kim.2) Our neighbors are obnoxious with loud sex acts at 3 and 4 in the morning. The walls are so paper thin. It wouldn’t be too terrible but we have children who are being exposed to this.3) My next issue is the heat in our unit went out on super cold nights on 3 occasions. Maintenance was awesome and fixed it each time but with a new born baby I didnt want him exposed to such cold temperatures on more than one occasion or any occasion for that matter.I should also mention have known the previous owners for years and my experience with them was AWESOME.
I lived here for over a year and never felt completely safe. Trash was constantly overflowing from the dumpsters. Neighbors were a nightmare. Cars were broken into, people would drink and smoke in the parking lot and say inappropriate things to me as I walked into my apartment. Also my mailbox was constantly being broken into and I’ve had numerous cards stolen. The price of the rent was great, but paying a little more to live somewhere else with respectable residents is more than worth it.
Ive been an on-time rent paying member of the TimberTop community for 3 years now. Since moving in, things have only progressively gotten worse. In the past two months Ive heard gunshots on this property at least once every two weeks. It is not safe here. It is a festering hole of drug dealers. The crowd of residents this apartment complex attracts are those that would bring cockroaches and bedbugs into your apartment. The people here are unclean, unkempt, and uncaring about their community.Ive sent maintenance requests regarding the broken washing machines in our buildings laundry unit every week for the past 6 weeks only to be told they wont be fixed until later this summer. My building and 3 other buildings on this property must now do our laundry in any of the remaining laundry units that may be 4 blocks away.If youre a UA or Kent student looking for an apartment, I would steer clear of this residence.
I just moved in here 2 days ago.I worked with Larry all I can say is amazing. Answered all my questions and always return my phone calls. I came in and told him what I was looking for. He found everything but the one thing that I wanted.Melissa is a real joy to work with also. And I had an issue and she was great with helping me with it.I delt with property manager today. She was very patient with me and explained the reasoning behind the problem. Its just a very nice group of people that I have delt with do far.
The place was tolerable with the old mansgement, but is atricious since AIY took over. Weeds are growing in the gutters, no basic landscaping us done, and its impossible to get ahold of anyone that can help you. Nodody in the office answers tte phone and you get routed to a call center where nobody knows anything. I have mice in my apartment and cant get anyone to let me know whats being done. Once my lease is up, I will not be renewing. I would advise ajy potential renters to keep on driving by this dump.See the response below: a big part of my critique was that nobody answers the phone. What is their bright solution, CALL US. I highly doubt that they care about my concerns, they just dont want me airing them publicly.Surprise, surprise five minutes after writing this, guess who called me?
Things I do not like about this place.1. No assigned parking. Work at night, shop at night and do laundry at night always have to park far from where I live. This would be no big deal but when you live on the backside of a building and only have access from the rightside and its raining or have grocey to carry up it becomes annoying. Would gladly pay few bucks extra to have that convience. Lines arent painted so people take two spots up a lot.2. They do not shovel or salt the walkways.3. They only care to check up on things when its costing them money.4. AC is garbage. One room has an outdate unit, does nothing to cool even that room.can see dumpsite from my window for whole complex, raised rent saying increase in property value. And they will charge for certain maintenance calls. Car speed through area all the time my kids were almost hit by a car. They will not install speed bums to ensure the safety of residents.
I had a great experience at Timber Top for the year that I rented. The apartment was beautiful. The location was primo. And the people who ran the management office were amazing. Anytime I had an issue they were there to help and make sure I was happy living there. Overall Great place to live!
Hands down the worst staff I have ever had to deal with my entire life. They took a problem I had, something for where I was not the culprit. Turn it around and blame me for everything and threatened to evict me. I have done nothing but be a good tenant since I have stayed here, they dont work with you they work against you, on top of everything I now have to pay 50 dollar more increase in rent for my new apartment had to pay last months rent and put 300 down on the apartment to hold it all at once to fix a problem that was not started with me. Funny thing is the new apartment is the same as the old supply and demand. im moving to fix a problem that im not the culprit. If you really cared you would have fixed the problem differently, before this I stayed in my old unit complaint free and happy. truly sad how I come back to a place I thought was nice and this is how I was treated mind you I have been in the unit less then 5 months, with the first week of sleepless nights to right now Im at 5 months of almost every night sleepless. I work 8 hrs and more sometimes this can be taxing on the body and mind. Update spent so much time and effort moving into the new apartment and I have the same problem, I had to pay 50 dollar increase in rent and the probelms not solved. Hands down the worst experience ever. Goodluck renting here
I have lived in Timber Tops six years this coming May. I really love it here. My one and only complaint is that people speed through here and blow through the stop signs. I have anxiety letting my Son outside to play fearing he will be hit by a speeding driver. However, if there is a problem with your apartment they are on top of it.The scenery is beautiful all year round and I never feel unsafe. The heat is free and they allow pets. That is very rare nowadays. This tenant gives it four stars!
Ive lived here for about a month now, and I enjoy my apartment so far. For a college student this place is great! The rent is the lowest I could find, and the apartment (while a little dated) are fine. The only thing thats gotten on my nerves so far is a small leak in my ceiling, but within hours of reporting it I was able to have maintenance come out and give me an estimate for how long itll take to fix. The area is quite and my neighbors are quit chill. the area ranges from college (18-21) to what seems early parents mid adult (25-35). If you are a student University is only about a 15 minute drive on a bad day. So if youre looking or your first place or just dont want to live on campus, this is the place for you.
DONT MOVE HERE! pay extra for an updated, better place. No windows that you can open. My car was broken into 3 times this year.( 3rd time today btw! ) The lamp by our building has been lying on the ground for 2 months now and we called to have someone pick it up. Still laying there. But they put up a handicap parking sign 6ft away from the lamp, couldnt bother picking it up. Place is a joke. Staff is worse than the people who use to own it. Keep copies of your paperwork because theyre always losing stuff on their end. Just dont bother with this place or any place that AIY properties own.
If I could give zero stars I would. this place is terrible. dont let the pictures fool you. they only show you the nice new buildings that you cant look at because there are none avaliable. they will show you some sh** ty apartments that are run down and are dirty. they smell bad and there is all kinds of trash outside. besides the bad apartments the management is rude. my fiance wanted to fill out an application and the lady we had was a complete b**ch to us. we tried to tell her one of the apartments had glass all over the floor from a light shade falling on the floor and she ignored us. I recommend you dont go here. go for something better. I am.
The staff is extremely rude. I love the apartments but they are very rude and uncaring. I tried to report that their laundry facility was not kept up and the machines dont work and they just blew me off and said i need to come in. She said thats not really a priority. Like wow. Okay. Rude. Ummmm you guys take our money thats your job to upkeep your facility. And not to mention that there is mercury being used to heat the apartments which is illegal. But whatever. There area is beautiful and the apartments are nice for the price. The roads are horrfic.Just wanted to update/add on to this review as of October of 2017. The above review still stands. My water was yellow off and on the entire year i was here. My ac barely worked. My car got broken into so many times. As far as the water everytime i called i was told its the fire dept. But yet when i would call the fire dept and the city both said they have no idea what they are taking about and that there is no work being done that would effect the area. Everytime i called they just blow me off. Oh im sorry. Or oh its not a priority. So glad im moving out. I feel so unsafe and im tired of the rude staff. A new company took over and they are finally working on the roads. But thats about it. Oh yeah and hope youre okay with death screams at 2am every night and your car will most likely be broken into 1-3x per month.
Avoid renting from Timber Top and AIY. The units are dated and poorly maintained. The inside of the spout on my kitchen sink rusted through, which caused it to break when a small pot slipped out of my hand and hit the spout. Weeks after the repair, I find out that they are charging me to replace a faucet that should have been replaced years ago. So if you like drinking water that ran through a rusty fixture, this is the place for you.
Ive lived here almost 6 years. Management is a joke. I rent from a private owner, but pay association fees in my rent, but Im not permitted to use the pool or even call the office regarding a hornets nest in a common area. Winter is worse, parkinglots and streets are never plowed....and forget about shoveling and salting walkways.
The management have been incredibly welcoming and helpful as I settled into Ohio. The up keep of the complex is incredible. The maintenance staff have fixed issues in less than a day; coming from London, this is truly incredible. Thanks to them for their continued hard work.
**Addendum**As editing a previous post is not a function supported by Google I have deemed it worth my time to leave a second review. To restate the previous issue, there has been an ongoing dispute over additional charges made to my account. After months of trying to deal with the management (with no results) I had actually had my insurance company contact them directly which has now yielded something resembling progress.Take note of this process.1. My account was being charged erroneously (for renters insurance). This was because Timber Top claimed to receive a notice of cancellation from my insurance company.2. I contacted the immediate management and the insurance company.3. Then provided multiple documents outlining that my insurance policy was never cancelled.4. After months of zero results dealing with the Timber Top management I contacted my insurance company (again) to which the insurance company notified me that there had never been a notice given to Timber Top about a cancellation.5. As none of the several documents that I provided could overturn the conviction Timber Top had to collect money, my insurance company actually went against conventional protocol and contacted Timber Top to correct the situation. They were also given a run-around by management!6. Now the corporate office had to be involved and the issue is now on its way to being resolved after 3+ months of interaction and direct contact from my insurance company informing them that the policy was never cancelled (which the corporate office also claimed was not sufficient for proof of continuous coverage by the way).If youre considering this place as an option, take a look at the reviews. There are pretty much only 5 and 1 stars. That is not a good sign, most places have many more 3 and 4 stars than anything else as the experience of the individual will most certainly vary but the 3 & 4 star reviews indicate that the overall experience was tolerable by any standard. The 5 star reviews Ive read here dont outline much about the persons experience as they are usually written within the first 6 months of their stay, whereas every 1 star review details the atrocities of their experience after the six month mark or on their way out after the lease is up and usually add a foreboding warning that I advise you to heed. There are the occasional 5 star reviews of long standing tenants but if they are claiming that this place provided top notch facilities I highly question their tenant history as I would consider this place (at best) a starter apartment.Seeing as how most of the tenants here are early adults I dont see this review as being helpful to anyone who thoroughly researches their living arrangements beyond the price and location. So I guess I just wanted to express my grievances and try to help the overall star rating of this place reflect what I feel is a more accurate depiction.
I currently live here, and they never salt or plow 50% of the parking lots, even if they know a winter storm is coming. Every morning after a snowstorm, I see neighbors who are also stuck, because this companys management is too incompetent to ensure their maintenance staff does what theyre supposed to do. I would not recommend living here.
Had a leak in the ceiling the first month I moved in that ruined my brand new couch. Paint was constantly chipping off the walls. Walls are very thin. Gave a notice almost 2 months before moving out that I was moving out and they still tried to bill me for not giving proper notice. The roads around the place are horrible on your car. Wouldnt recommend to anyone.
DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!! I’ve been here a year and it was a waste of time. I asked to transfer because I needed a different apartment but because I didn’t do it in 60 days they wouldn’t help me. I needed to move Because my dad has a HEART CONDITION!!!!!!! and can’t go up the 3 flights of stairs. Would not help me!!! I lve been here a year I was late one time because of an error on the computer. I’m quite never cause any problems and all I asked was to move to a bigger apartment where I would be paying more money then I am now??? What kinda business doesn’t want their people to spend more money??? They obviously have no respect and are ungrateful for the few people that want to live in this dump. Don’t waste your time dont come here save your time and your money.
Timber Top Apartments & Townhomes is an awesome property and I would highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a great property in the area of Akron. The floorplans are spacious and the amenities add an extra layer of fun and convenience to the residents. The staff is very helpful and they will go the extra mile to handle any concerns.
How is AIY going to help us in the middle of this pandemic? Some of us might have to put our rent on our credit card temporarily. PSN the company that processes our payments charges a $25 fee to do this. Maybe AIY can pay this fee or reimburse us for this fee for now. Maybe AIY can give us a temporary rent reduction of 10% to 15%? The only communication that we have received from AIY is that unless we have an emergency in our apartment that they are not going to enter our apartment to fix it. GEICO has offered a 15% discount for policies when I renew them. DISCOVER has granted 0% interest for the next YEAR in response to this crisis. With all the money that AIY has saved on salt this year (because we all know they do not salt the roads here and thats why they bull dozed the fountain because someone slid into it and tore half of it apart) then why cant AIY step up to the plate and help the residents here like many other companies are doing? It makes sense that if the maintenance people are ONLY fixing emergencies then the money you are saving on that alone could go towards financially helping the residents. Please respond publicly to how you can help us and not just say to call the office to discuss. Everyone hit a thumbs up if you agree that AIY can and should help us. Oh and by the way, look at the other reviews from the people that gave Timber Top 5 stars. They have a handful of reviews from businesses on the West Coast of the United States, some from the same car dealership in Sacremento California. So in other words these are fake reviews from individuals that have been compensated to give a positive review and could not even point to Akron, Ohio on a map. This should give you some idea as to how sketchy AIY really is. Thank you.
The buildings down farther into the valley look nice, I live in the area at the top of the hill which is not good at all.Its been months since I moved in and air fresheners have still not been able to remove the smell of cigarettes and dog pee from the previous renter, there is very visible caulk around just about every corner, but that doesnt stop the wind from blowing in through the cracks around my front door, which does not sit straight on the frame.Very poor construction in general, rough wood that has given me multiple splinters, cracked boards, peeling wallpaper. Walls are thin so neighbors complain constantly about music/tv even at a reasonable volume. Garage is the same way with a slightly rotten wooden door that does not sit level and no electricity/lights inside.Would not reccomend it and plan on moving out when my lease is up
The person they hired to do there dry wall and wood work did a horrible job, nails were left out on the stairs and when I called to complain about a problem I was having, the lady called the person I was having problems with when she knew I didn’t feel safe. Very unprofessional, doesn’t answer their calls, don’t care about the safe of their residences, only the dollar.Highly recommended you don’t go here.
Do NOT live here!! If comfort is your desire you wont find it here! It is mismanaged, dirty and horrid views! All they want is money and your concerns are not heard. Dont waste your money, burn it first!!!!! Hopefully the Housing Inspector will agree with me when he gets here! The EPA is next!! Stay away and save yourself!! Whoever you come in contact with in the office ( which is the nicest area here and the slideshow is a joke) are moribund!!!!
From the first contact online and when I visited, the personal care I have received is beyond compare.Apartment is spacious, well maintained and quiet.Very happy here and would totally recommend .They are always available for anything you may need. Made me feel right at home. ❤
THE MANGER IS RUDE B*TCH TO SAY THE LEAST!!The apartments are horribly disgusting. Lower levels have caulking along the walls, for what ever reason; water, bugs, ect. Every apartment I checked out had broken refrigerators, messed up heaters, and foul smell. They charge you $100 that is nonrefundable, for an application to live there. If you ever had a different mailing address and never lived at that residency and they got evicted you will be held responsible for their actions. Also if only one person has a income you will be denied, and will give you a made up excuse to why they wont appove you. They tried telling me that I was on a lease for an apartment that I did not sign for, didnt not pay for single bill for and then when I was denied told me that I wasnt on the lease. Illogical and unlawful reasons. Save your money and your time!!! Look else where. I WOULD RECOMMEND HILLCREST IN MUNROE FALL!!!
I havent even moved in yet and I already am miserable. The staff (besides maybe one lady) is extremely rude and b*tchy to say the least. They expect everyone to work around theyre schedules. If your not unemployed, good luck getting anything accomplished with these guys because they will not work with you AT ALL. The manager is one of the rudest and IMPOLITE people I have ever dealt with. My lease here is going to be a long and miserable stay with this staff. WALK AWAY. DO NOT LIVE HERE
DO NOT LIVE HERE. Ive lived here for a little under a year. I just switched apartments and moved in to building 9 with a new roommate. We had a bat that got in to our apartment through a hole in our roof. The bat bit my roommate and she had to go to the hospital to get rabies shots. When we called the Timbertop answering service at 3:45 in the morning, the woman said she would leave a message for the maintenance guy and he would come to see us first thing in the morning. He showed up at 1:30 in the afternoon. After hiding in my room all morning anticipating the guy to come catch and remove the bat, I called the rental office to find out where he was. I was transferred to the property manager, and she could not have possibly been less helpful or more rude. The women who work in the rental office are demeaning, rude, and unhelpful. When we asked what they planned to do about the possibility of the bat getting back in to our apartment, they told us that we could move. DO. NOT. LIVE. HERE. EVER. The walls are thinner than paper. On numerous occasions, through the wall Ive heard my neighbor peeing. There are constant domestic disputes going on at my other neighbors apartment. There is a reason Timbertop is so cheap. It is awful. Spend just a little more money in rent for someplace else so you dont have to pay medical bills to cover rabies shots.
This place is just plan bad, We chose to move here thinking it would be nice place to raise our newborn and the rent was affordable and in a nice location. They just want your money and dont care about anything else. They dont care about you or your family, You can complain about a neighbor all you want and nothing gets done. My now 4 month old hardly gets any sleep, if this keeps I will have to take DRASTIC MEASURES. Maintenance is a joke. Its always dirty with overflowing dumpsters. The cows upstairs have put Cracks In the walls and celling of my unit , (and lucky me they let me move in without a security deposit)they throw trash off of their stairs so thats what we get to stare at when enjoying a nice evening outback. The maintenance repair men told me he does not work on the brand washer and dryer that was supplied to me by Timber Top. They sent the maintenance crew out at 7am on Saturday to do a full carpet tear out and install.Avoid at all cost, its about time the city steps in and condemns this place.
I appreciate the affordability. I like my pond out front. You can see the ducks and their babies in the spring. Maintenance is cool. Its older but its not to hard to keep clean. I ladies in the leasing office arent that bad. Many are actually really nice. I just wish the walls werent so thin, and I had central air.
I have been here for one year this month. The management is under skilled and experience in customer service is a must for which they have neither.New management is worse than prior. I have noticed that the weeds are being whacked out of the way to our doorways now instead of treading through them to get to my door. Maintenance is awesome, very polite. I call every time something goes wrong and theyre here very promptly. I am 40 years old and seems to be a lot of 20-25 year olds that live around me but I keep to myself and nobody bothers me. I dont hear any fighting or anything bad going on around here I dont like the driving fast the traffic this is a community and they are people literally walking around and some people just drive through here like theyre on the expressway other than that its a nice quiet community and I think a lot of people are misrepresenting what the entire Community is all about.
Timber Top Management: There is a Winter Storm Warning from Friday @ 10am to Saturday at NOON. SALT THE ROADS! I was one of the lucky ones yesterday that managed to maneuver my vehicle back onto portage trail because the entrance to Timber Top was a sheet of ice and I was heading right for the island. Many people at both entrances were not so lucky. I saw at least 5 cars at each entrance that had wrecked into either each other or the island. Portage Trail and the other roads were fine its just that Timber Top failed to salt the roads in time even though it was raining and the temperature was below freezing. I would recommend to anyone that was involved in an accident yesterday 1/10/18 to get together and contact a personal injury lawyer. Had I wrecked into that island you can believe I would have been transported to the hospital via ambulance and contacted a lawyer. If the city can figure out that the roads needed salt then why cant Timber Top management? Please dont ask me to contact the office to discuss. If you want decent people to live here then take care of business.
Affordable rent. Great pool. EXCEPT THE STAFF IS SO RUDE!!!!My mom recently broke her foot and them had a catering job she had the next day her foot and knee were swelled up to the size of balloons. I went down to pay the rent and the lady wouldnt let me, I told her about my mother and her exact words were well Ive seen your mother WITH her broken foot by the pool so I know she can make it down here what kind of heartless person says that? She needs to be fired.
Went to tour a couple of apartments last month, took time to put an application in, paid application fee, submitted requested documentation, but never heard anything from office as to whether or not I was approved. I emailed office since I hadnt heard anything from them. That was 3 weeks ago. Still never got a response. Obviously I wasnt approved but a response would have been nice, since I spent $35 on application fee and filled out application which is time consuming.
Applied for an apartment here and got back that my background was bad. I paid for a background check that they couldn’t have done. I was arrested but all my charges were dropped, I’m pretty sure they just googled my name after taking the money and saw I was arrested and discriminated without doing the background to see if I was actually charged. Got a better place anyways, it was trash.
Timber Top has terrible management and terrible customer service. Several issues have gone unresolved after 5+ calls to management, and they keep giving us the run around without following up. They do not plow their lots, the mailboxes and doors are broken, the roofs leak, and they try to charge extra on your rent without you noticing. DO NOT rent through Timber Top unless it is your last option!
Staff and management is very good! But living condition wise, my upstairs neighbors are very loud and rude. I have two children, a three year old and a 3 week old. When they walk it sounds like they are coming through the floor and it startle me and my children. I dont recommend living here if you have children.
Disclaimer: this is a review for the application process.ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME. They do NOT answer their phones/emails, it took them a MONTH to approve/decline my application and my cosigners application. If you actually want to live here be prepared to have to call multiple times a week to get any kind of answer.Edit: It took you a MONTH, and no you don’t respond to voice mails and you don’t respond to emails. To talk to someone on a phone I shouldn’t have first listen to an automated voice system and then press 1 for “more information”. It’s called customer service. And if your not going to answer your phones on a regular basis try updating your website with more information or putting your application online, its 2020 🙄.
Would give a zero star rating if possible. First they throw you a pair of keys to random apts so your basically lost when looking by yourself. Second the leasing agent sent me to the apartment pictured where trash was sitting while the inside smelled of mold and trash. His response was sorry I didnt check that apartment. The worst experience Ive ever had with a company leasing apartments
Ive been here a month so far, the maintance is great, I call in a day or two it is fixed. Everyone seems nice, just only problem I have is my loud neighbor who likes to yell at all hours of the night, I have two kids that need there sleep, besides them not being respectful everything is good!!!
7.12.2017 new managment is no longer taking calls or rent payments at front desk. this is out rageous. i was calling to report a leak!! no voicemail. loud music downstairs. boarded up windows. repairs being ignored. posted number rings and disconnects . previously happy tennant now looking for a new home.
These are the worst apartments I have ever stayed in they look nice I can’t lie about that but the staff are rude and they are incompetent. Then when you need something fixed they give you the run around I’ve been here for atleast 7 months and called atleast once a week about things I pointed out before moving in. I wouldn’t recommend moving here unless it’s your absolute last resort and even then I would still recommend you keep looking before settle with this place.
I never lived here personally but my friend lived here and it was so ghetto. You have to show photo ID and prove that you are with a resident just to get into the pool by a rude security guard. The apartments had bugs, smelled bad, and lots of illegal activity going on. Trash is all over the complex and the people living there are very questionable.
Love this place force me into another apartment, get into another apartment guy next to me is playing no-stop music through my wall at 3-6am all the time. Office has done nothing about my problem. Spend the extra dollars to not deal with drama, the office will not be your friends here
After viewing 3 apartments (which all smelled and just had a dirty rundown look), we went back to the office to return the keys. The lady at the desk asked what we thought. Me, not really knowing how to reply- eeehhhhhh. And her response, understandable. If the staffs reply to a poor answer is understandable, it really shows what even they think of the place.
I have lived here for 3 years and have nothing but issues with management! Now they bring in new management and we continue to be screwed over with increased rents unless you want to sign a new lease. I mean nothing is ever fixed or working properly.....but we dont care...
Horrible, timber top WAS okay then AIY properties took over. I was charged over 60 dollars extra when they switched over just trying to figure out how to pay with their extremely outdated and non user friendly websight. Theres plenty apartments around Akron look somewhere else!! The only way I will change this review is a 60 dollar credit on my account I did talk to all you suggested in your response and they all said nothing could be done.
CHECK THE POLICE REPORTS FOR THESE STREETS. IN THE PAST 18 MONTHS HEMLOCK HILLS DR HAS HAD OVER 40 POLICE REPORTS RANGING FROM CREDIT CARD FRAUD TO ARMED ROBBERY. Management is a joke. The either really suck at their jobs or just dont do them, at this point I really cant tell. I wont even go into detail about the neighbors we have or their screaming and fighting that results in the cops being called (of course these events happen very late at night). Dont be lured in by the cheap rent, youll sacrifice your sleep and sanity just for a couple bucks.
If you check all of the 5 star reviewers profiles youll see that they all review the same locations scattered across the country and even one in Canada, this is a clear indication of fake reviews, stay away from this place! If they have to fake their reviews and still can only manage under 3 starts you probably should run!
I do not even live here BUT I emailed them questions about the place because I wanted to move in. This was a week ago. I emailed them multiple times and still no reply. If the management team acts this way to people who are just asking questions I wonder how they treat their residents.
I been here 6 months.the management is rude and under skilled.when I hade my insurance callThem to show them I had rental insurance he told me they are the rudest peopleHe ever delt with he been doing this 30 years. When my lease is up We will be looking.Wake up AIY management teach them people skill they have none.if they did there jobLike were I work they would be fired.Love the area but the management if possible to giveA zero I would.
I live here and have for a yr...moved in right when new management was taking over...the walls are thin...parking after 9pm is a challenge...some of the younger residents are noisy ...but they did plow ...they do clean up by the trash receptacles...whiched are dumped 2x a week...maintenance has always been here to fix anything within 24 hrs....office people have always be courteous....we have trees and wooded areas so there are bugs...had them come out for yellow jackets...never had anything stolen or messed with...Im staying another yr its not as bad as some would like you to believe it is...one more thing lots of dogs...no one cleans up after them..lots of pits...had one bad incident...management was right on it...
Having a hard time dealing with the office, i came home one night to a notice on my door saying i never paid my rent and i have three days to leave or comply with their demands or i get evicted, i called AIY support online and they say they have my payment and my bank also says the money was taken from my account... the issue is the people in the office saying that they have to do an investigation with Corporate to find out if i actually paid or not. I guess the receipt on their website for paying your rent doesnt mean anything but jack squat.... the AIY online support said all the office has to do is call them.. but they refused and want to make this a bigger deal than it actually is and should be and i also have a balance on my account now for apparently not paying and Im not giving them anything for that because i know i paid and so does the company... just wish this issue would be done with already... too bad they never have time to actually deal with anything!!
It’s horrible some of the staff are very rude I’ve been having problems with my apartment and they don’t care everytime I call I get ignore I’m trying to break my lease for peronal issues and they stay not caring and ignoring me I would love to contact the owner or someone that can really me
This morning they turned the water off with no pre warning until like a half an hour before it happened. The manager is rude.. the pictures of what the place looks like are such a farce. These places are not worth the amount we pay each month and I’m SO HAPPY we are getting out of here.
Nothing like bringing city living to the woods great views and decks on most rentals but this is a vary busy apartment complex lots of people and pets everywhere its for people that are people persons too busy living for me, not real quiet, due to over population of the entire complex and 3 story living aswell not for me! But ok
Worst place I ever lived they had aints and bees all in the appmaent and they didnt come out to solve the problem dishwasher was broken Airconditioner went out they never fixed it water pressure was terrible and guess what never fixed big surprise and it was cold didnt even get any hot water most of the time place is a joke

2022-01-17If you like to get no response from maintenance calls, listen to animals run around the attic of the building all night & the best one to day, have to call of work because there are NO plow trucks, this place is for you! This is a huge apartment complex and it snowed a foot, we have yet to see a single plow truck. Not even a offer of hey here are some snow shovels to dig yourself out so you dont miss work.... so we can pay OUR RENT. This is why we live in a apartment complex so we dont have to worry about it. I was hoping for a better turn around when the new company bought this dump. Nope. I have been here almost 8 years, this year will be my last. And please dont tell me to contact you about these issues, you wont call me back so., what is the point? Do Better.

2022-03-25This place is terrible upon move in the apartment was filthy( moved in during the peak of covid and the place had not been cleaned the mold around the entrance and from the neighbors wash room on the other side of my wash room which never worked had to be treated constantly. The dishwasher was so filthy I have not opened the door from fear of what’s growing inside I was told some would come sterilize it but no one has showed up yet There are cracks in the walls and cabinets and countertops that have to be the original cabinets and countertops because they are disintegrating daily along with doors. and nonexistent floor boards oh they did attempt to fix the floor board issue with foam and that’s the living room!!!! The leaking in the ceiling that drips consistently that won’t even be acknowledged... needless to say this has been the worst year of my life

2022-06-20This place is TERRIBLE ive been here 2 years and could scream!! The building next to mine was roach infested and they have yet to completely get rid of them after 3 weeks!! My apartment in my building has cracks coming from the ceiling down the walls out of no where , my kitchen sink flooding , my electrical outlets not working and to top it all off a water leak in my laundry room they haven’t fixed from two months ago!! I’ve called all these in plenty of times you get NO response. And to continue I had severe water damage from the upstairs and they just PAINTED OVER IT , I’m at wits end with this place and actively looking to move. PLEASE STAY AWAY!!

2022-02-28We had some communication issues in the beginning. My fiance had called a couple of times after turning in our applications and was told multiple times that he had to leave a message for someone. He was told the message would be given to whoever we were working with, twice. When we finally got a hold of the person, he said that he never received any messages.Thankfully, after we got in touch with him, the ball started rolling quickly. We went to look at an apartment and put a down payment on it immediately. He was super nice. Id give him credit, but I honestly dont remember his name. We are moving from a different apartment also managed by AIY. I really hope this place is a much better experience than the one weve had at Deer Creek.

2022-04-22Completely awful management. They never did anything about the awful neighbors. The music was constantly so loud it would shake the walls and floors. Random blood curdling screams in the night. Fights outside. And some of the units are totally disgusting.Quiet is not an option here.Find somewhere else.

2022-03-26Beware -living here, I’ve lived in one of the condos and one of the 2 bedroom lofts. the condos floor was deforming , like a big bump and soft spot in the floor. the loft was crawling with spiders and had an 90s ac that made my electric bill 150$ during summer.another thing. this place makes millions of dollars and probabaly over 1000 tenants , yet they can’t afford light bulbs or proper signs to direct delivery drivers. christ man . entire buildings are just black at night and you can’t see any numbers at all.

2022-03-24Timber top is ran by the absolute worst management company I have ever seen (AIY Properties). DO NOT MOVE INTO ANY OF THEIR PROPERTIES! They will get you for every bogus charge they can come up with when you move out. They are trying to charge me for an extra months rent right now because they say I put in my 60 day notice to vacate 2 days late, even though the neighbors told me they changed the locks on the first day of the extra month I’m getting charged for. How can you charge me a months rent for a place I had no access to? Everyone I know that has lived here has been charges some kind of extra fee when they move out. There’s plenty of other places to rent from, stay away from these scammers.

2022-02-19Im sure each apartment has its ups and downs, and I have no idea how the rent or upkeep is.. but my favorite part about this place is the location.. Just a nice area with hills and curvy roads, picturesque views everywhere you turn..

2022-05-13I hàd my roof leaking water; initially other maiñtenance ppl whom camè by thought it was just from the roof itself. This larry ģuy I conmunicated what was going on since hes a good listener and we found out it wasnt the roof. i would get no excess leakage during extreme rain and during belòw freezing nights it would leak. Larry did troubleshooting of the building and found a neigbor above had a leaky bath tub. he fixed that situation then troubleshot more and found out there was an elbow piece àlso leaking. he fixed that as well. Him and a mike guy workeď on it and did an amazing job. If it wasnt for larry they were just going to pàtçh up my water leaked ceiling and this wouldve happened again. Plus larry was the ONLY maintenànce guy of 3 men who rèviewed my problem who actually capped off the wiring while we waited further to remedy the situation. Im assuming larry makes the most òut of all the maintenance guys and mike too, if theý dont these guys better think twice about how amazing these two are and ensure theyre happy in pay to stay. it would be devastating to lose such amazing workers iñ those two

2022-03-17My five star review is not for the apartments themself but for the Maitnence man Brett. Every time Brett comes to fix something he is very professional and does things the right way. Brett is one of the best Maitnence men . I’ve also dealt with Joe and he was good too he fixed my sink once. I hope that you guys appreciate your Maitnence workers that do their job well. Appreciated people stay and do a good job. I live at 874 and I specifically ask for Brett because of how hard he works and how he doesn’t stop until he knows the job is done right. During these times it’s so important to appreciate your people so I wanted to make sure Brett got the recognition he deserves.
