The Statler in other cities:
We love our downtown home! Ronny is amazing, as is the entire management staff and security. Every maintenance issue is addressed quickly. The renovations are spectacular. We use the rooftop as well as the community room all the time. Its nice to have other places to hangout. The location is perfect as well. Quick walk to Heinens, Playhouse Square, E9th Pier to watch the sunset, and Progressive Field to watch the Tribe!
Love this apartment complex!! Also, everyone in the office was busy, but still so nice! Jackie helped give an awesome tour of the unit, rooftop, gym etc even though we didnt have an appointment. She answered all of our questions with a smile on her face and even gave us complimentary drink tickets (for coffee/tea/smoothies etc) for the awesome coffee shop located in the building. Very pleasant experience and I loved the newly renovated 1bd we viewed. Looking forward to moving in here soon. Thank you!!
Through the good, the bad and the ugly, Ive lived at The Statler for more than five years. And then Millennia bought the Statler, renovated the building from top to bottom and its a wonderful place to live now. The residence lounge is stunning as is the restored lobby. What a difference new ownership and management have made!
Take it from a current resident, do not sign a lease here, at least until construction has ended (whenever that may be). There’s a building next door under construction also and between the two be ready to be awake at 7am sharp by some sort of construction noise. Complain, ask for a way out of your lease, won’t help you.In addition, the building is selling floors to short term leasing companies so your neighbors may not be your neighbors for long. This may be closer to returning to a hotel than they may think.Over the last few months, the referral bonus has risen from ~$300 to $1000 due to the fact they can’t fill this building. Don’t be fooled. The only good part of this building is the awesome security and maintenance staff. They are always friendly, willing to say hi and hold a conversation, too bad everything else brings down this building’s community.PS: How would you feel if construction workers surrounding your home decided to draw racist stereotypes on the bare sanded and patched drywall...
I have lived in Statler Arms for the past 4 years, in two different apartments. I have always had prompt maintenance service when required and the leasing office was very helpful in addressing an issue with my lease agreement recently. The location downtown is great and rent is reasonable given the size of the apartments and the building amenities (gym, doorman, in unit laundry, etc). Have recommended to multiple friends in the past and they have been happy living here as well.
I had a short term stay at the Statler back around 2007 and fell in love. Was lucky to get a sublet again in 2011 for a short term stay. There was a yoga studio right across the hall from me and a decent restaurant downstairs. Wondering if theyll restore what was the old dining room and the speakeasy downstairs. Love the history. Will be back in Aug 2019 and would love to get a 4 week rental.
BEWARE! Detailed Review included with blatant honesty....I lived at Statler for 3+ years and used have a fairly neutral opinion of the place. Unfortunately, the living conditions, treatment from management and creepy lack of security are major factors that will lead you to be incredibly UNHAPPY if you live here.LIVING CONDITIONS: The Statlers amenities are on par with similar buildings around the area only a little bit older. Machines in the exercise room are okay, but when they break they dont get fixed for months. Also, a heavy Middle Eastern population makes the exercise room a loitering ground, especially for males who are unaccustomed to American ways and frequently sit and watch when women work out. On one occasion, a group of these young men went so far as video taping a young female running on the treadmill. Security will not intervene (they dont get paid enough), making this a creepy and beyond awkward situation for all involved. I never felt safe, nor did any of my female friends, making this and other common areas more like scary areas.Units are generally in good shape, but noises and smells easily come through the doors of the units. For the last year and a half I lived there, 2-3 times weekly occurrences included: children running and screaming down the hallways at all hours of the night, Thick smells of incense wafting through the walls and cracks in the door (a towel under the door helped, but didnt eliminate this), and less-than-neighborly behavior regarding banging on walls, screaming, etc. Horror movie noises was what we nicked named it. There was a few months were the children would knock on random doors, pull the fire alarms and cause other nuisances, but managements blanket threats to evict people helped quell these major disturbances (although management was very condescending and targeted their threats and complaints to everyone, despite clear evidence of the specific people who actually were to blame).MANAGEMENT: Like most management companies, Statlers staff will be friendly to your face and say what they need to in order for you to sign a contract. After that, they will continue to play nice, but will not oblige any requests. Of the dozen or so maintenance requests I made over 3+ years, about 75% of them needed to be made twice because they were cleared from the system without actually being completed. Per the above, complaints about awful neighbors or creepy activity in common areas were met with fake concern by management and zero action to correct the issue. Its sad, because the building is nice, they just need to be more professional and address the issues at hand.In the end, Im happy to have moved past the entire Statler situation. They have a great roof top view and excellent location in Playhouse Square -- its simply not worth the risk because of the creepiness, security concerns, crappy unprofessional management and generally uncomfortable living arrangements.
The worst place to live, You will not get half of what you paid for. Every thing is broken , and you will receive a ((warning letter)) every day about every thing even if its not you business. Warnings about how to throw the trash are posted with Arabic and Indian language for your convenience. The staff are very very very rude. you will get more freedom if you lived at the schools dorm my rent for 2 bedrooms is a bit over $1,300
Update June 2018:The building is under a new management. According to what my friend sent me to translate for her, there will be renovations throughout 2018. the prices most defiantly will rise even higher.I do really hope they will make the business office an actual business office and supply it with whats necessary.Update:I moved out now (after over nine months of living in Statler Arms) to a place that is, unlike Staler Arms, worth the rent I pay for sure. Not better place but a place where my payments and my expectations met. Statler Arms apartments is not that clean and some features on the website are not as you would expect them to be in reality. The building is downtown and about 15 minutes walk from CSU-Cleveland State University- I would not say that downtown Cleveland is somewhere to be excited about living at.The fact that it is very much a middle-eastern community has no connection to how bad the building is; it is dirty and smelly because of the poor maintenance and the beer drinking habits that the middle-eastern people in the building have nothing to do with. The so-called business office is whats in front of the leasing office; a no-printer two disks and two computers, which do not work, room. And, no electricity in that room either, just giving the whole picture.Another falsely advertised feature is the parking. Yes, there is a parking attached to the building from the 7th floor down but it will cost a fortune to have a parking spot for a car. You got it right, it is not a free parking. It costs:$185 (Updated at 4 March 17) a month for unreserved spot and$190 for a reserved one.It is managed by a company other than the one managing the residential building: I believe it is AMPCO, aka, ABM.The maintenance took forever to get to my apartment for things I noticed the very first day we moved in. They took between 13 and 17 days to respond to my claims.Security is 24/7 and so as the mail claiming. Some security personnel, though, are not as present as others and a resident might have to go down to pick-up their delivery because the security is not at the gate. Must say that entering the building is easy at daytime but a person will need an electronic key to be able to use the elevator and to enter the building at nighttime. There was a robbery at about 8:30 pm; some one got into the building and dragged the ATM outside. At 8:30 pm the gates are key operated. When the gate is in the key-operated mood, a person can get in only if they have the key or they were able to sneak in while someone opens the gate. The laundry rooms are in some floors like the4th, 7th and the 10th (the ones I am aware of); 3 washers and 3 dryers at each. $1.50 for the washer and the same for the dryer. Residents can ask for in-unit laundry but they will have to sign their names on a waiting list. Currently, it will take months.I found out that a new resident got the washer and dryer (in suite) at what the called it reasonable time(before us whove been waiting for 9 months). So, I am not sure anymore about the list length. The management of the building changed starting December 2016. According to the managers announcement, the on-site management is still the same and the maintenance team is kept the same. The only change announced is how residents should make the checks payable to. The convenience fee for the online payment is kept the same 2.25% of the total amount due that is about $20 something on average.
I lived in Statler Arms for two years and just sadly moved out. First of all, the location is perfect. So close to everything you would want in Downtown Cleveland. Second of all, the management staff is awesome. They respond to requests immediately, even if its just you wanting a copy of your lease. They are never neglectful of their residents. They throw Christmas parties every year (delicious food and open bar), they host events monthly, their rooftop is always clean and ready for use, the gym is cleaned everyday, and the lobby is just beautiful. Theres a Christmas tree they put up every year that makes it such a magnificent place to live. Everyone was so good to me that I was sad to leave (but I had to move an hour away for school). Thirdly, the maintenance staff is just wonderful. They go above and beyond to help you out. They are kind and help you even if they dont have to. This was definitely one of the best places Ive lived, and the only drawback is that you should definitely get an apartment facing the courtyard or the street (Euclid Ave) to get some good daylight! Thats literally my only complaint. Theres also a coffee shop and diner in the buildings lobby - just fantastic coffee. I never tried the diner but its always busy during the lunch hour. When I move back to Cleveland Id definitely move back to the Statler.
Average experience overall, not worth the increased prices after renovation at all. Security is below-average - on couple instances Ive encountered that the mailboxes were all left completely unlocked such that anyone could access anyones mails with the security guard at front desk aware and indifferent about it. Moreover, night before moving out, random tenant shows up at my door post 10 pm asking to share the freight elevator for the move-out process the next day - just because the person at front desk revealed my apartment number / identity without my consent. Management was highly uncooperative in the move out process.
This is a good place if you want to be in downtown but the managment changes alots of rules too quick too soon... Restrictions on parking if u living.. You feel Lots of unjustified skim to get your moneyThey seem to have a rule in which they come in apartments to see whos living... Thats so crazy and unprofessional yet they will tell you they do?!!!!
I would NOT recommend moving here. Don’t be fooled by the West Elm furniture and “perks” they sell you, the coffee and beer machine hardly works, if your mail gets stolen it’s your fault (check your lease agreement), the elevators don’t work most of the time and water shut offs are regular because it’s an old building. The worst part here is the staff in the leasing office. They are the reason property managers get a bad name in the industry. They’re happy to take your money but don’t ask them to do anything for you in return. They huff and puff and give you side eye when you ask for your mail (the mailroom is locked to residents) and make you feel like you’re an inconvenience. All they care about is getting you in the door. The only redeeming feature of living in this building are the maintenance guys, they’re responsive and I appreciated their service.Think twice before you sign a lease and make sure you read every clause. It’s airtight and they will trap you in. They once tried to renew my lease for 12 months without my consent and I had to pay double rent when I moved out even though I gave the agreed 60 days notice. They will get you at every turn. All I’m saying is, watch out and consider your options.
Very bad hotelThe mosque was closed and converted into a games room, although most of the population was Arab MuslimsClosing the Values Room and not allowing residents to sit in the lobby after 11 at nightThere is no grocery store or laundry, like the rest of the hotels nearby and Parking price of $ 190 👎

2022-03-24This is the worst appartment I have lived in so far. The air conditioning unit makes a loud noise which is unbearable. They tell you that you will get a rent free month and ask you to deposit a month rent. But prepare to wait for your money back for a long time. Our contract ended at the end of January, yet we are still waiting to get our deposit back. Not recommended at all!

2019-06-05We are fortunate to be able to renovate this beautiful historic building and are excited that the surrounding buildings on Euclid are also being renovated to make this a vibrant part of town again. As far as early construction noise, this was eliminated once our residents voiced their concerns. We went directly to the construction company working next door and asked that they please refrain from noise until 8:00 am which they agreed to.As far as the photo that was posted by Mr. Blaylock, this was revealed when the original wall paper was removed during the renovation process and was covered by construction once it was brought to our attention. Our 14 million dollar renovation is scheduled for completion at the end of July 2019. Our newly renovated suites are amazing and our new indoor and outdoor community spaces are sure to please all residents.

2021-03-20A lovely building, full of rich history. I love the blend of the old art deco facade with the modern updates. Its also so very close to...pretty much everything. Its a 5 to 10 minute walk max from almost anywhere downtown. Prime location. The office is also extremely friendly and helpful. Maintenance tends to always be on top of things.Over all just a wonderful experience.

2020-01-31My boyfriend and I have been living here about 3 months so far, and everything has been wonderful! Our room is spacious and the design style (paint color, appliances, marble counters, etc.) is exactly what we were looking for! The lobby is a gorgeous grand entrance when we are having guests over, and we cant wait to make use of the rooftop lounge area when the temps rise. Ronny is so helpful in the leasing office, so definitely see him if youre looking to live here! (Take a tour, the pictures online dont even do it justice - its amazing.) Our only complaint would be that the renovations on the yoga studio havent been completed yet, as we use it 4-5 times a week, but we are hopeful that it will be redone soon!

2020-02-01I have lived at The Statler since June 2018. The changes and renovations since that time have really made it a great place to live. The community room is lovely, the updates to the gym are much appreciated, and the staff is incredible. The leasing office always makes time to listen to any concerns that do come up. They even know my dog by name and are always willing to pet and treat her!

2020-01-14I’ve been living here since February 2018, and overall, The Statler is a great place to live. I love the location, the new renovations, the awesome and friendly staff such as Ronny (leasing) and Christopher (security). Maintenance is always there to help, too! They listen to our concerns, and the whole staff is wonderful. If I can, I will continue to live here for as long as I can, especially if they continue to keep it as clean as it as, and keep their price points reasonable.

2020-01-14Walking into the beautifully renovated lobby and meeting the awesome leasing staff, we knew this was the place for us. The leasing staff went out of their way to find us the right apartment and when we needed more space, Ronny and Analise found the right spot. Every request or concern we have had is addressed promptly and professionally. Jerry and the maintenance staff are great to work with and thorough. Chris and Manny in security are always helpful. The location is great and you can walk most places. The community room and amenities are the cherry on top. We love our downtown home.

2020-01-09I have been living at The Statler since October 2019 and its been an enjoyable living experience. From the start the leasing team, Ronny especially, was helpful through the whole process; my move in was seamless! When I have had maintenance concerns they have been fixed in a timely manner and the staff is great at communicating when my problem would be resolved. You also cannot beat the location as its close to everything you need; food, fun and also a dog owner and the walk-ability around downtown and to the park down the street is extremely helpful. I highly recommend this building.
