The Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center in other cities:
They made it mandatory to wear masks, which is perfect fine but they do not do their part. They do not sanitize anything, the store was disgusting. Everything was dusty and some products contained odor. I am 100% with Thift stores, but I never had such an unhappy experience. I used to come here all the time, but recently they have not been keeping up. Its unfortunate.
Very good selection of clothing, prices are a little high. There is a lot of good deals hidden between high price items. The place is also very well organized which I appreciate greatly. Employees are generally kind and helpful. I had an horrible employee named Annie. While checking me out she was frowning and unhappy and was asking another employee Why am I even here?. While I understand not wanting to be at work you do have to put a happy face on just like everyone else. After three attempts of typing in my card information having it decline 3 times I assumed the problem was on my end. So I had to go through the trouble of getting in touch with my bank and being on the phone for an extended period of time to find out absolutely nothing was wrong. I understand messing up the first time, but three times that is ridiculous. She just made my day so much more stressful when it didnt need to be.
My senior mother and I both frequently come here from cleveland. Today was normal until my mom forgot to hang her hangers by the register. And the young lady very callously told her. You can hang those behind there. WE HAVVVVE customers hang up their hangers while they are waiting in line. Mind you my mom is older and has trouble walking. She could have just smiled and took the hangers without the remark. I walked over and hung them up. But good grief... the attitude was not needed. All while playing Christian music on the speakers. 2:55 pmFriday. 5/7
The drivers that came to pick up our USED childrens dresser were highly critical of the furniture item because of normal wear for an OLD and USED childrens dresser. They were rude and highly unprofessional. I will not consider donating here in the future and will not make purchases here. There are plenty of other thrift stores that are gracious, appreciative, and kind. All values that ALL of your employees should show in this kind of business and is clearly lacking from this particular location.
This store is awesome! We love shopping here. We always find great deals at this location. It is the best Salvation Army Store in the area. Today we went to find a comforter for our bed. While we were there we found a battery charged lawn mower! Our lawn mower had broke. This was a blessing for us. I reccomend this store to everyone.
I was just there June 22, 2019. I pulled up to the door where everyone unloads their donated items and there was a guy who was moving boxes etc and there were things piled all over the place ( outside the doors ) I asked the employee where I should put my donations and he says anywhere. I told him it looked like there were a lot of items and if they transfer a lot of the items to other Salvation army’s. He said no then said something about trashing them. I asked him if they were going to trash the clothes etc that I brought and he just smiled. Another lady who was donating items asked me if she heard correctly that they were going to trash everything that was being donated sitting out there. I just I don’t think so because I brought almost new clothing and shoes and picture frames etc. then when I asked that same employee if I could have a donation slip ... he said “ for your garbage “? Then I said hey ... I brought very good clothes , coats and shoes etc ... he showed me the slips and I filled it out and left. I hope he was kidding and that the Salvation Army isn’t really going to trash all of those clothes , shoes , picture frames , scarves etc that I brought and I also donated teddy bears in excellent condition. I am never donating anything else to Salvation Army if all they do is trash things that others may need. To top all of this off I donated a brand new poker game and the employee dropped it and all of the pieces went everywhere. I asked him if I could help him pick it up and he said no he will sweep it up and he took a broom and swept it up and threw it in a box that he was throwing everything in as if it were trash and when I left I seen pieces of my game all over the place
The staff is almost always rude, possibly due to the fact they are always short staffed. The prices are far too high for a thrift store also. Once in a great while you may get lucky and find something decent priced being the half off color. The bathroom is always unusable BC its so disgusting. Overall, the worst thrift store around.
Not a friendly store, its clean though. Prices are high, even for broken or torn items, due to Avons demographics. Wednesdays are 1/2 off day, Except for furniture and electronics, which doesnt make sense. Wednesdays are packed with a line to the back of the store at times with only one, sometimes 2 cashiers (there are 3 cash registers).Employees are rude, they act like you are bothering them. If a tag falls off while trying on clothes, better make sure you can secure it back on before paying for it, because the cashiers will treat you like your price swapping and refuse to sell you the item.
Would give zero stars if I could. Went there to give a pillow top mattress used under five times. Would not take because the (box spring) yes I said the box spring you know the thing that gets covered had a tear about an inch and a half long???? The employee told me the manager would not take. Not that the manager took the time to walk back and look. Could have been a real nice bed for someone in need but laziness prevails again!!! So sad
Today I felt like it was a little pick through however normally this is a great Salvation Army to visit. I always find something good here. And I always go home with more than I planned on. Prices are a little higher then saw the other Salvation Armys I have been to however go on Wednesday and its half-price off everything!
The price increases at this store have brought full retail price tags to used goods. So much for thrift! They have color tag mark down days but exclude many items from the sales. Its like coupon day at Macys, the good stuff is never included. Dont check with the employee, they dont know the score & arent inclined to help! Sorely disappointed in an institution that I have supported for most of my life.
I was helping my sister move and we decided to take a van full of stuff to this location and the two men were giving us attitude about how much stuff we had to donate. One even made the comment do you have anything left in your home? We didnt even get a chance to finish unloading the van before we decided to go somewhere else since we were clearly an inconvenience to them!
I went one day early before work, and I really had to use the bathroom and it wasnt open, come on people are in there touching things, come on open the bathroom and lock it and when someone returns the key a worker can go and clean it before the next person! problem solved!! I had to leave the store and go to the gas station to use the restroom!! I was not a happy camper lol.
They have great prices and great clothes for everyone and great house items too. This store is very clean and the bathroom were very clean too. But they do need their employees to check the game case for the right cds for the games and for the movies for dvds too. They need to do this before the customer leaves and buys these items. But they are very friendly
I was shocked when I went there today. I had gone in the past, but some where along the way, things have changed. The store is clean, organized, and the people are fine, but the prices are ridiculous....even laughable. The home goods, vases, glassware, etc. are priced so outrageous. This is not Nordstrom Rack . There was a vase that was priced at $34.99! Crazy. Walked out with nothing, I just could not bring myself to pay those prices for used and donated items. Some body is getting very greedy.
Waited 15min just to get a remote for a product i was buying. As a manager sat in an office repramanding an employee and wasnt answering their knocks as the manager holds the remotes for some asinine reason. Which held up 2 employees trying to get the remote for me who should of been working on moving customers out the door.. Very unprofessional and a ton of my time wasted on top of being there on the busiest half off day of the week waiting in line 15min prior to. Which made me hold up 2 employees and so only one was checking people out at the time of all of this. Not satisfied. Plus sign said all half off but furniture when it should of said yellow tags not included as I expected everything but furniture to be. For a company profiting off donations I find this to be ridiculous.
I used to love going there but now I believe they are getting over priced. They wanted 6$ for a baby sleeper, you can get those brand new for that price! They only ever have 1 register open so I always end up waiting! I usually dont mind but I have little kids! And another thing can they please make the carts bigger so I can fit my 3 month olds carrier in it! Its soo hard having to hold the carrier and the things I pick out. Those are pretty easy things to fix, thank you
The selection is plentiful, but the prices are absolutely insane. Upon walking in I heard a loud woman yelling at the top of her longs that the microwave was hers because it had convection and she wouldnt let anyone near. The price was higher than what you would get brand new for the same functions and size across the street at Walmart, despite being crusted with food. They had a really beat up table selling for $450... At a thrift store in really bad condition. Save your money and time and go to the goodwill down the street.
Scheduled a pick up for a loveseat. Driver had a attitude, said they “were not professional movers and could not remove “. He lifted the bottom cushion like it was beneath him to touch my white loveseat with no stains. I have moved this piece to another room by myself. Unprofessional, rude, and lazy. Why do they drive a huge truck if they are not movers?????
Employee accepting donations acted like it was a bother. Also complained, saying Christmas decorations arent good. Also witnessed him complaining to other people about their donations. We are eating at Swensons next door and now are seeing him throw everyones donations as if they are trash.Very poor representation of the good mission of the salvation army.
After reading other comments, I can report the same poor experience with donating....a disgruntled worker, seemingly irritated by being there & having to take in what people are dropping off. We think we are supporting a mission and to see my items tossed around like trash was upsetting. I wont donate here again.
Terrible customer service, further, do not shop here expecting to find items that haven’t been picked over by the employees first. I witnessed an employee pulling items for her mother to purchase. Upon speaking with the manager regarding this incident she denied the existence of the employee and became combative with me. I will no longer shop here

2022-06-26Lots of Zara clothing that is damaged or actually on clearance at the Zara store. But these items are being sold for 60% off the original price. I wonder if Zara knows that the items they donate are being marked UP

2021-03-05I LOVE this store. I’ve built such a beautiful wardrobe from here. Love the purpose of Salvation Army. Definitely need to buy the color tags that are on sale to get the best deals, but I can usually fill an entire bag for under $50. Workers are always really nice to me too. Monday mornings are not for the faint of heart - usually a line of pretty pushy resellers trying to get the new color tag deals. Not the stores fault, just a good heads up to know.

2021-12-02I brought a piece of pottery asked for a bag and was told they stopped using bags. I ended up dropping the pottery and broke it $4.07 Im out because you do not want to purchase bags. I did support and donate that 1-10 of s cent just costed you a loyal customer and someone who always put $1.00 in your red kettles. Who makes decisions like this.

2022-06-22Always great finds. The staff are almost TOO friendly. Prices are NEARLY always reasonable and fair (with the exceptions being absolutely glaring and bizarre). I love how huge it is and how varied the merchandise!

2021-04-01Pretty nice inventory when I was there, which was only once so obviously quality could vary quite a bit. Staff is relatively fine, one woman specifically was kind of rude. They also have a policy that they will not ring you out 10 minutes before they close which I don’t think is very fair. They will announce this every few minutes, making it more difficult to focus and more nerve racking so make sure to go more in the middle of the day.

2021-01-31The signage on the door stated they were open until 7p. They announced that everyone had to be in line by 440p because theyd be closing at 5p. The line stretched at least 15-20 people deep and was extremely slow moving. Twice, new customers came in and the employee ( older woman with medium length brown/gray hair pulled back on low ponytail and glasses ...didnt catch a name) literally scolded them that they were closing at 5p. Each time this happened, they were completely confused and mentioned the signage on the door. The employee was extremely rude during the whole encounter. Once approaching the cash register for my turn, the girl in front of me was called to be rung up. The same woman said you still have hangers on your merchandise, you have to take it off and hang them up ( pointing to a rack on the other side of the desk). We will take the next person. Again, her customer service skills were non-existent and she was bossy and rude..no please or thank you or friendliness whatsoever. The girl looked confused and walked near me and said she didnt know, and neither did I....because there was no signage stating that. I hardly ever waste my time writing review posts ( and especially this long).. but that woman was a bitter

2021-05-24We stopped by the Avon store at 4:30pm on a Saturday (it closes at 5pm). One of the employees made a point to tell everyone who walked in that they were closing at 5pm. She continued to announce that the store was closing about every 2 minutes. They closed the dressing rooms half an hour early, and told customers they had to be in line by 4:50 to pay for their merchandise. Pretty disappointing that they made it so difficult to spend money for a good cause.
