The Morgan House in other cities:
Great food at this mostly gift shop. I had a roast beef bake which is shaved beef, horseradish sauce on a croissant that’s baked with a topping on provolone cheese. I got mine with fruit but there are choices of chips or salad. My wife ordered a special, chicken salad melt which came open faced on a croissant, melted cheddar and chips. Both very tasty. Chips were crispy kettle style. We enjoyed coffee with our lunch and gave in to temptation getting their warm skillet chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream.Oh so good.My wife wandered around the gift shop area lots of things of interest.
I went here for the first time when they had all of their Christmas items out and it was magical. There are so many unique gifts and the log cabin feel of the store adds to the charming atmosphere. The walkways are a bit tight so it would be hard to navigate with my toddler if he had been with me.
I had a Rubin sandwich with a cup of house soup the other had grilled salmon with spinach salad. All was good except the soup tasted old and burnt. The service was ok except for them having personal conversations in the dining room around the guests. I give them 3 stars because they can be better when they are trying.
My sandwich was not good at all. The bread was very dry and it was a club in which had one slice of very thin sliced lunch meat as in the stuff you but at the grocery store. The cheese was old. The salad that went with it was good. And it was very expensive and service was so slow.
Lots of really neat things in the store, very unique. AND, the lunch was very good. Their signature soup and roast beef sandwich was suppurb. The melted cheese on top of the sandwich, alobg with delicous, not to strong horseradish sauce, were fantastic touches. The only issue is, if you have trouble with steps, the shoppe has numerous levels, and the levels have different levels.
Went 2 meet a friend 4 lunch at 11 30.When got there put name in,1 hour wait.Long time 2 wait,no workers. Soooo sad.If U r looking 4 any of gift can find it at Morgan House, floors of ALL kind things. When we were sitted, very personable server.Nice menu and offer daily specials. Im ice tea drinker, wish leave ice tea pitcher on the table. My lunch was good, finished with double chocolate warm small iron skillet cookie served with vanilla ice cream.Yummy.Would go back 2 shop, mayb go back later in day 2 eat. Tis the Season.
The many decorations around the building are the attraction. This review is for the food and restaurant portion.Elevated prices and small portion sizes lead to a deflating experience. They greet you with mini muffins, whichever flavors they have for the day. Honestly taste like mini muffins youd grab from the grocery store. Wife got the salmon. Barely a 4 oz. Portion. Looked like a long steak fry rather than a nice grilled piece of salmon. I stuck with the traditional open faced turkey with cranberry. Still as I remember it. New bacon dressing was splendid. Mixed drinks are small. Wine is nice portion. Flavors of meals are well balanced. Food was cooked well. Perfect spot for a small brunch...just be prepared to spend much and leave hungry.
Was so looking forward to lunch here, after almost a year of self quarantine. First, I want to say that their social distancing and cleaning procedures are excellent. I felt safe. But that is all the good I can say. The chicken salad plate used to be yummy, filled with chucks of chicken and celery, along with walnut pieces. This time - it looked and tasted like shredded chicken out of a can, and a lot of mayo, with tiny bits of celery and walnuts. It tasted like mayo and nothing else. The amount of fruit included with this meal is decent, but not really fresh tasting, and $3 for a medium size glass of soda that was more than half nothing but ice cubes? It was no more than an ok meal. Sadly, I will not be back. Very disappointed.
Have never eaten here so I cannot vouch for the restaurant but I have visited the gift shop several times and was impressed. The Morgan House gift shop is huge with an astounding selection of quality items. Right now all their Christmas decor is on sale for thirty percent off. Go for the food the gift shop or both but just go and have some fun.
Everyone is pleasant. I had trouble getting up step at front door. A lady, employee, was able to pull me up the step. It was very steep. I ordered quiche. The first piece over done, but our server was very kind to bring another piece. Ive come here for years. Their gift shop is amazing.
Excellent food and service. Chicken salad on croissant was amazing. A ton of food for the money. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table, but didnt care since we could shop the entire time. Ended up buying some extremely unique gifts for Christmas. Cant wait to go back in January for the sales!
I love walking around and looking at all the items they have. Tons and tons of items to purchase. Did you know they have a restaurant where you can eat? I tried that after I purchased a few things and it was so good! They have mixes and chocolate and so much more!! You must check it out!!
Huge gift shop full of fun and unique items. Neat layout with different levels and rooms full of goodies. If you need a hostess gift, or any present and are sick of the same old mall and big box items, you need to check this place out. It was an old cabin with some history behind it and they serve lunch or brunch. It is always extremely busy to eat there. I ate there once a while ago and wasnt that impressed with the food. Items like chicken salad and brunch style food. However, the gift shop is truly awesome and well worth a visit. There is also a section which sells kitchen and cooking gadgets and tools. Sometimes very neat and useful items where you think to yourself, wow thats so cool, I could really use that.
Cute place and bigger (on the inside) than it looks. There is lots to see in the shopping areas. If you are looking for country decor or christmas gifts/decor, this is your place. In the restaurant I had the daily quiche, which was excellent, and I was surprised how delicious and sweet the fruit was that came with it. My friend had the roast beef sandwich and it looked amazing.I would recommend making reservations on weekends, as I heard it gets crowded. Service was very friendly. I would definitely recommend trying it out.
Delicious food and lovely boutique shop. Lots to see and purchase. A great place to get unique gifts. Ill be back to do some Christmas shopping. A special thanks to our wonderful server, Melissa, and the woman who helped put tables together for our large group. Our afternoon outing was perfect!
One of my favorite places to shop/eat and introduce to others who have never been! Anyone I take here instantly falls in love with the seasonal decor, the awesome restaurant, everything! The Morgan House is definitely unique and one of a kind! 10/10 recommend to anyone!
This is a great place for ladies who lunch! It is a combination of restaurant (open for lunch) and gift shop. The food in the restaurant is very good.....especially their desserts! The gift shop is on multiple levels, so it may be hard for people do have difficulty walking, but it always has unique items. If you come for lunch, allow extra time for shopping!
Fun shopping and terrible food. I was there yesterday with a group. I had a roast beef sandwich, and the roast beef was definitely off. Of course, I didnt eat much. The fruit that accompanied the sandwich was not ripe. I never eat hard cantaloupe, muskmelon and pineapple. Two people had the quiche. It was a skimpy slice and not good, according to them. One woman had a chicken salad sandwich that she found tasteless. I will never go back. Our group was offered only four choices, and all four were terrible.
Amazing food and service. The small dining room is so interesting to see with hand cut beams and creaky wood floors. Dont know why more men dont go hereThe rooms filled to the brim with everything you could imagine, jewelry, cards , clothes , household kitchen ware , children section. And great candy and teas spices galore. So give yourself plenty if time to roam and enjoy a treasure hunt for good food and filling your wooden basket.
Love going to Morgan place. You can shop while waiting for a table. Great idea for any occasion. They have home decor jewelry lichen ideas and lots of samples of food. Purses. Upstairs and downstairs. It is handicapped access. Its was a log cabin and build to what it is today. Fun place to go.
I went with a friend Tuesday December 19 th and waited 45 minutes to be seated, then another 45 waiting on my food. We were both disappointed in our lunch. We were excited to have the broccoli soup but they were out of it and their famous soup. The chicken salad was very salty, my friends turkey was sliced lunch meat so she was very unhappy. The server said only 1 cook but thats not enough excuse
Unique dining environment. They offer daily quiche and sandwich options. Also have a selection of different desserts. Some items made in house. Had a bug in my water during last visit. Sometimes extremely cold near floor vents. Chairs and tables are meant to blend in to the decor, but can be uneven, wobbly or unstable. Lots of steps up and down inside the building and not necessarily consistent in height. Mostly a lunch dining venue for women. Dining adjacent to retail knick knacks and holiday items. Nicer furniture and home decor in rear. They also sell coffees and treats.
Morgan House never disappoints! The quiche is among the best Ive tasted, and the Reuben is fantastic. This visit I had the snickerdoodle coffee which was very tasty, but honestly all their coffees are flavorful, plus you can take home a bag as well. It is an enjoyable atmosphere, and a great place for funding special gifts.
The Morgan House restaurant has to be one of my favorite afternoon restaurants to go to. The little luncheon plate basket is my absolute favorite. I order it every time! Everyone is always so nice there and you can always find a something to buy. Youre never walking away empty-handed. Such a cute place to shop. 😊
This quaint tea house is one of my favorite places to visit. Their store carries everything from handmade candles to furniture to decorations and tons more. Their food is great too - far from a run of the mill menu. I especially love their signature soup - a creamy mixture of wild rice & curry. To top it all off, their staff is amazing. They are always exceptionally kind to my grandma, who cant walk well and gets easily confused. I cant say enough good about this place!
Great brunch menu and cozy place for a relaxing and comfortable bite. Large gift shop in a historic house, that just happens to have a restaurant. Both are worth a visit. Not for large groups, but if family or friends are coming to visit, wouldnt hesitate to call for reservations.
They were slow, didnt have the chicken pot pie that we wanted. The Italian sub was good. The chocolate Heath pie was tasteless and old so the pie crust was a soggy mess with no crispiness at all. When I told the waitress she explained they were making it fresh for Saturday. That was not comforting. I hope we do not get her next time.
Took mother out to lunch and this is the place to take a mother over the age of 60. It is full of them. The food was good, service was fine, and atmosphere modern country. What draws the ladies in by the bus load, is the large Knick knack shop at the entrance. Like going to Amish country with out leaving Dublin. My mother was mesmerized.
Nice store but restaurant is very slow. They chose to seat larger groups ahead of those with fewer in party and then they said they couldnt seat anyone for awhile so the kitchen could catch up. Ridiculously waited 70 minutes to be seated and that was when restaurant was just opening.
Wow. This place was stacked with people during our visit. We had an hour and a half wait for lunch on the weekend, but the restaurant has a cute little shop to spend time in while you wait. The food was great and the prices are better than I expected. Best description is a quaint Cracker Barrel with in my opinion better food.
This is definitely a womans trip and is decorated very primitively. My wife goes several times a year with my mother and sisters and they make an afternoon of it shopping at their gift shop, which is several stories high! Food is great and prices are good. They have weird Sunday hours (noon-3:00pm only), so expect to wait if you come then.
RUDE! Took a large party to eat as it had always been great in the past. Calling ahead of time I am informed that they no longer take reservations as they had in the past. Once we arrived we’re told there would be a 45 minute wait...THERE WERE DOZENS of empty tables?!?! On top of everything else the people were INCREDIBLY rude to everyone in our party. We will NEVER come back and I would advise avoiding this place all together. Has gone down hill since under new management!!
Once in the country, but now surrounded by Columbuss exploding burbs, the Morgan House is an ancient log cabin at heart, but engulfed by additions. Most of the space is a maze of rooms housing a vast array of country emporium gift-shop merchandise. The daytime-only restaurant is in back. Its menu, served by a charmingly hospitable and competent staff, stays far from the cutting edge. It is laden with comfort words like creamy, stuffed, blanket, and smothered. A loyal clientele of tourists and shopper-diners from all over Ohios Middle Kingdom are drawn by chicken pot pies served in flowerpots, but the chicken-averse will also find soups, quiches, salads and sandwiches built with turkey, tuna, cheese, salmon, seafood, pizza, ham, and beef. Yes, we had chicken pie -- big, thick, rich, and amply stuffed with chunks of chicken and fresh veg. Not for the calorie conscious, but delightfully comforting and good, and worth every modest penny.
The restaurant is just below average. Service:poor, food:not so great. Fruit servedwas not ripe, very large pieces they have to be cut. I expected a much better experience. The dining room is VERY noisy, not much ambience. Doubt I will return. The store is NOT accessable to handicapped, lots of stairs everywhere and noelevator. For as long as this place has been around, you would think they would have got it right by now.
What a delightful restaurant! Lovely room, lots of windows and light and the waitstaff was fast and courteous. The bloody mary I had with lunch was handmade and a bit spicy which is what Id asked for. When talking about the soups they had - the Morgan soup and their boursin chicken - the waitress was kind enough to bring out a taste of it for all three of us. Their soups were thick and very flavorful. I enjoyed their flatbread pizza and the others their food as well. The prices are reasonable and after lunch we walked around a surprisingly large shop full of all kinds of things to give as gifts. If you like to shop, but not at anything like a mall for unique gifts, this would be the place.
This is a fun place to find all sorts of things that you dont need 😁. There are 3 levels with stuff for sale tucked everywhere, from dip mixes to furniture. Great seasonal decorations. Cafe is good, rich food. I think they call it a tea house but the menu has quite a few offerings. House is jammed packed in every nook and cranny with things to see/buy. I love to get cocktail napkins and cards there but have also bought jewellery, soap, decorations, candles and a purse there.
You have just about anything Christmas at your disposal you could imagine. This is what you would expect to see as a very homey Ma and Pa type place that has everything from home made arts and crafts to your big ticket items such as designer clothing and big trees. There is also a small restaurant and candy shop inside as well. The candy choice is quite large and also seasonal, but somewhat pricey. The restaurant has more of an eclectic high end brunch type cuisine. There is a LOT of OSU items, which is a bonus😀. You are bound to find something you want. The arts and crafts prices would seem to be reasonable in our experience. This is a shop worth visiting if just for the visual experience. We go a couple times a year and always walk out with a few goodies.
Food very good. Acoustics terrible for me. Left with headache. Charming restuarnt with lot of things for saleWould give a higher rating if mobility friendly. Just left and putting on sunglasses ,someone opened door knocked me off stoop. Steps are higher than normal height
DO NOT go here for lunch group and expect ANY kind of service or organization. We were told to come early since they dont accept reservations and put our name in for our group . We did. They told us to let us know when everyone (9) arrived- we did. As soon as we told them everyone was there- they told us NOW you are on the list. What is the point of arriving early and putting your name in? Horrible service and no organization. We left and took our business to a restaurant who had both.

2022-01-04We were afforded the opportunity to dine in the small rustic (term does not do justice) barn-style stage coach room with real wood shiplap covering the walls. Just cozy dining for 16 people. There were only 6 on a Sunday afternoon around 1:00pm. Morgan House is billed probably as a womans tea room. But, there are men enjoying the ambiance. And, did I say novelties everywhere? Good to still catch the many Christmas displays. Gnomes at a discount from $75. Buckeye corner. Everything Bees. Irish venue. Antiques. Goods on consignment, I presume! You might easily find furniture pieces for $1200 and up! 3 floors to explore! Our server was #2. She is a charming lady in her late 60s that knows the menu. My meal was $12. And, Lindas was $13....I ordered the Quiche and substituted the fruit for a bowl of French onion soup. Thankfully #2 cautioned me that the soup just came put of the oven. It was SCALDING HOT! Waiting 10 min did not help. It was necessary to add water and ice cubes. So, I concentrated on the quiche. The standard dinner plate for the quiche was glaringly overstated! But, thats a tea house for you!

2022-03-14A must visit, have lunch in a Civil War Era home, relocated to just outside Muirfield Village near the Columbus Zoo, from Morgan County in 1985. The owners have poured a lot into this gift store restaurant combined. This is not a Cracker Barrel, it is much better! My wife and I dropped in for lunch and both had Pot Pie which offered a choice of a side: salad, chips, or fruit. The healthier side of us opted for the side of fruit which was freshly cut. All were delicious! There are two main dining areas, and we actually wete seated in the original Weaver home, (who owned the home in Morgan County while General Morgan opted to stay there several times in the Civil War Era) and enjoyed a cozy fire, (both dinning areas have fireplaces). After lunch there is a multi level gift store to explorer. When you shop in one area you quickly discover many other areas and levels, including furniture. We love non-cookie cutter restaurants and shops, this in a must stop! Handicap access is available for the main dinning area with a ramp in the rear portion of the building.

2021-06-09The menu hasnt changed much over the years but if it aint broke why fix it? Highly recommend the roast beef sandwich. The pesto pizza is newer but also good. Soups and desserts can vary. Years ago I had the best Key lime pie here and Ive had it in the Florida Keys! Sadly, the chef hadnt made any pie recently (blueberry cobbler did sound good). Fun to look through the store while waiting for a table. Prices are better than some of the other little shops in town on many items too.

2022-06-08Wonderful but pricey food. Many groups of women eating throughout the restaurant with adequate spacing of tables. Waitress was very attentive and did a good job explaining the menu. I will come back again. At 11:30am there was no waiting for a table. Shop has many items to purchase which were reasonably priced..

2022-04-06Lovely lunch with friend. We had the Quiche of the day (Tomato Basil) with fresh fruit and their Morgan House Soup which is a creamy chicken mushroom. Their shopping opportunities are also fabulous. great home decor, culinary treasures and other gift ideas.

2021-12-07This was my first time here. This was my birthday surprise! This is a historic place that has been added on to and turned into a business. They have a multilevel store and restaurant. There 3 levels and with no actual definition on how they connect but thats part of its charm. The food is more for breakfast or brunch. But still very good. The staff is polite but busy and I love how light and airy the restaurant is. They have a wonderful and unique selection of items to but ranging from foods, snacks, saves and such to Christmas items, jewelry, clothes and home and home decorations

2021-12-24Was excited to go with friends for lunch yesterday, just didnt plan on a 3 1/2 hour lunch. Enjoyed shopping while we waited for a table, but it took 1 3/4 hours before we sat down. We were told 1 hour. No place to sit and wait. Then it was another 45 minutes to get our food. Very small portions, soup was cold. Took way too long to be heated up and brought back out. Beverages are served too small and staff was too busy and flustered for any refills even though we asked 3 times. Literally had to track her down to get the bill. Left still hungry and very thirsty. Good thing I loved the people I was with. But was very disappointed in our experience.

2022-06-11Only adequate food in both taste & portion size. & service was slow though plenty of open tables. Positive note,: No loud music, relaxed atmosphere, conversations can be heard. Will not re-visit.

2022-07-02Nice atmosphere though not impressed with the food or the prices. Got a very tiny pot pie with a handful of chips for $14. Overpriced even if it had been $7. Later I went home to finish eating sadly. Understand inflation but think this place is unfortunately taking things to the extreme. Nice place to walk around though and look at or buy crafts.
