The Met in other cities:
The Met is a wonderful place, with delicious food and amazing drinks. Tonight I went there with a group of friends and we had an AMAZING waitress, Haylie Linder. She is new to the scene and was one of the best waitresses we have had there! If you havent tried it yet, GO!!
Loved the Lakehouse Shrimp & the Mommas Little Helper Sangria. If theres any chance of getting the recipes, it would be greatly appreciated. We visited during the graduation of our granddaughter @ Findlay. What a enjoyable experience we had, with the service, wait staff and the food. Thanks!
We booked a small wedding/reception a year ago for this month. We were told a certain price and deposit and now are being told a completely different story. We were told to email the food menu atleast 2 weeks before, so we did. We also included a few questions we had as the menu options have changed since we booked the room. We have been waiting for for a response since April 26th to get answers to our questions. We have emailed three times and called and left messages for someone to call us back twice. We would really like to have someone communicate back with us since our wedding is literally in 12 days. Please reach out to us as soon as possible!
A wonderful Lima gem. Service was great and our server was very attentive and friendly. We really enjoy sitting outside on one of the last warm days. The food was delicious. I had the Shrimp Tacos. So good! My wife enjoyed the Met Salad...her go-to dish at The Met. I highly recommend.
Used to be my favorite nice restaurant in Lima. Then it became less nice, but it was still good....Ive been there a couple more times (business, not choice), deleted my most scathing comments, had a good steak, average service and am just going to go with inconsistent. The bar area still needs work.
Great atmosphere and good food. The doors create a great atmosphere with creative style. We went during lunch and the food came out quickly and hot. The burger I ordered came with salad greens and not iceburg lettuce. The bun was amazing and the cheese what great. The burger however was 2 small over cooked patties. Still overall it was good but would have been better if it wasnt over cooked.Fries were good with season salt.My friend got the out and was very happy. The pork was not dry and tasted great.
Wow!!! We have been blown away by The Met. The food was amazing. Try the Tavern Burger. My daughter said it was one of the best burgers she has had, and I would have to agree. We topped dinner off with the Chocolate Torte.... It was heavenly. We did have it with vanilla ice cream. The menu has a good selection, so I can almost guarantee that you wont be dissapointed!
First time here with my girlfriend from out of town as we were staying in town as her sister was having her baby in a nearby hospital chose this place because of the high rating and reviews was severely disappointed prices are way over inflated for what you get we just ordered the nachos and a few sodas the nachos we received were definitely not worth the price little cubes of chicken queso was okay but definitely not worth the money very disappointed and would not come back just not our type of place to dine out at.
I ate here for the first time today while I was in town for business. The food was extremely flavorful ( I had the smoked taco meal (4 different tacos), and the atmosphere was great! The waitress was nice, made recommendations to me & was attentive to my table. Definitely recommend The Met, and I will for sure eat here again when I come back to Lima.
Food was great, and there were a lot of things on the menu I wanna come back to try. We had the crab dip, brussel sprouts, and large met & spinach salads. And split a Coconut cake for dessert, Everything was great. I was thoroughly impressed by this place, should have come sooner.
**Update** Rob, thank you for reaching out! After reading your reply I realized that I marked 3 stars instead of 4 and have now corrected it.Overall, I had a good experience at your restaurant. Our server, Chris, did an excellent job. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and personable. I ordered the smoked sirloin for dinner and it tasted great! The biggest negative for me was the atmosphere. That being said, the other people in the group I was with thought it was fine.If I could give 4.5 stars I would but sadly thats not an option.
My sister and I were visiting from out of town and were pleasantly surprised to find The Met! We were drawn in first by the architecture of the building, then by the interior, next by the delightful staff, and finally by the delicious food. A wonderful experience all around. It was busy but the service was still fantastic. When we mentioned possibly returning the next evening with other family members to the delightful woman who seated us, she let us know that they were fully booked, and then proceeded to recommend other locally owned restaurants in the area. If we find ourselves in Lima in the future, The Met will be our hands down choice of establishments!
Very nice ambiance on the ground floor of a gorgeous historic building. Custom furniture pays homage to the original structure with repurposed hardware. We had a party of 5 at lunch and were promptly seated and service was quick. I ordered a lunch spinach salad with spicy shrimp and hot bacon dressing. It was quite good and a perfect lunch portion. Others at the table were equally pleased with their choices, mostly other salads and sandwiches. Would love to stop back for dinner. Restrooms very clean. Noise level acceptable for conversation. Looks like they had a fully stocked bar.
Staff is the star - young, polite and attentive staff. Ive eaten here 4 times and the meals were all fantastic. Great ingredients, executed well by the kitchen. The menu has a few items that are suspect. I didnt try them, so they could be great, given all items I did have were great.Decent beer selection. However, beware of exotic sounding cocktails though. Im a beer guy, so Im speaking by proxy. But many of the menu items I saw returned during my dinners at the bar. Drink or two, not going to notice. 30-50%? Your call. All that said, Ill be back, I will highly recommend.Met, keep up the great service, friendliness and food. Many thanks to you all.
This is my favorite restaurant to celebrate special occasions. I love getting to dress up, explore their drink menu and enjoy the delicious food. My favorite go to is the gnocchi with grilled chicken. Their salads and entrees are tasty as well. The past two times we have went the service has been spot on. They can get busy on the weekends, so plan accordingly. They have many different types of craft beers and wines to explore.
We stopped while traveling through. This is more geared towards adults with no children, road weary and etc. Its a ways from the expressway too .The burger and tacos were good. We ordered a stuffed of Mac and cheese for one of the kids and it was pretty tiny. The PO boy was ok. The raspberry taramisu was very good. But its not really taramisu. Nice place for small groups of double dates. Looks like a large wine selection and bar 3 entrees with two sides and a dessert was $67.00 Masks to walk in I guess.
I’m from Toronto, Canada. I have to say that this is my number one restaurant in the city of Lima. The menu is like no other and they have healthy options and amazing salads loaded of goodness. I got the half size arugula salad and he chicken breast stuffed with chorizo.
Had a great lunch. Delicious fried chicken sandwich and fries. I live in Toledo and met an old friend from Cincinnati there. It just may be our regular meet up stop.I dont remember our servers name, but he said hes moving to NC soon. He was patient with us, as my buddy and I hadnt seen each other in about 4 years and we spent a lot of time catching up before we ordered. Server was attentive and personal. At one point I noticed a fancy straw in a drink hed cleared, and I joked I didnt know you had fancy straws. Without asking me, he brought one out to me. Things like this turn chance customers into fans!!My only complaint, and its picking at nits, is there were no stouts or porters on tap. Add a good milk stout or a vanilla bean porter and I up my rating to ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!! Add both and itll be ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!!
We had a fantastic experience here. The place was packed but the awesome staff all worked together with smiles on their faces to make sure we were well taken care of the entire night. The Met tacos and chicken marsala entrees were absolutely delicious, but the highlight was definitely the cheesecake and the bread pudding desserts which were out of this world amazing. Highly recommend!
I enjoyed the atmosphere here. Their drink menu was different but not in a bad way necessarily. They were strong and made well whether the flavors combinations were my top choice or not. I shared an appetizer with my wife so can’t say much about their food menu. I would absolutely go back for a second try at their menu and drinks.
Second time Ive had the pleasure of having lunch at the Met. Its been more than a year and a half between those times thanks to the pandemic. I had a fish sandwich which was delicious. Crisp fries. And a waiter who made certain our drinks never ran dry. We took extra time to have a great lunch and the Met did not disappoint!
I went here for my birthday, a party of 15. Our service was absolutely horrible. Our steaks were burnt, soup was cold. We had to stack our empty plates to the side because our waitress never came back. We had to call over other waitresses over to help us. When we asked to talk to a manager our waitress was the manager 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
I used to frequent the Met several years ago before moving to Coloradom I have came back twice in the last 5 years and while the food remains delicious, the service is not great. The food took over an hour to come out and the waitress did a poor job of checking on us over that hour wait. This same thing happened 4 years ago unfortunately. It was nice to see they had expanded, but if you cant keep up with a bigger space then why bother. Nice spot, but if you have any other plans for the night, this is not the place to go prior to those plans.
I really want to give them a good review but things were just weird. The food ended up being delicious. The waitress was not great, she sat down at our table and took her mask off, then told me a few the items I asked about were just “okay but not great” and that was a bit off putting. The Brussel sprouts came out burnt but the waitress noticed and already had them make new which ended up being great. So the food was 4 stars, atmosphere 5 stars, waitress 1 star. Evened out in the end. We are coming back to town in a few weeks so we are going to try again!
Gentlemen served us very friendly and nice and gave us great service very attentive to our services needs . I dont remember his name but had long hair kinda tall but did really awesome job!! He rocks deserves A pay raise I think so sure other people have said same or promotion there!!!
This is a great space with a really nice restaurant and bar. There is a great selection of items across the menu and a drink menu that compliments. Really nice for couples as there is a nice selection of salads that can be shared in either full or half portions. Pleasantly surprised to see use of vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower as main items. Roasted Brussel sprouts were excellent. Shrimp lettuce wraps were perfect and flavourful. They also carry a number of local draft beers, in particular Saucy beers. Another unique feature is the ability to get your favorite draft beverage canned to take home. Really nice, central location, great food, great service. Definitely a place to visit in Lima.
We truly enjoy going to The Met. The food is Great! And the staff is so nice and helpful. On a beautiful evening like the few times weve gone we enjoyed sitting outside. Its truly an enjoyable environment. This is our go-to at least once a week. They fill up fast so try to get there early.
While staying in nearby Wapakoneta, we ventured to nearby Lima for lunch on a recent Saturday afternoon. This was one the best restaurants experiences in recent memory. From the decor, to the wait staff, the cocktails, the beers, and the food. Nothing I can say will do justice to the total experience. Please visit the Met and support local restaurants.
Giving it 3 stars. Overall wasnt bad but I dont give out 4 or 5 stars unless Im very impressed. Was with a large party 10-12 for a retirement party. I got the chicken quesadilla and my wife got the chicken marsala. Mine was ok, nothing spectacular. Chicken seemed a little dry and didnt have much flavor and I wish they gave a little more pico and sour cream with it. My wife and I agreed that hers tasted really good but only comes with the chicken over some potatoes, felt that for the price it should also come with a vegetable and some type of roll or bread. Also I know they messed up on the order for the couple across from us, she had ordered 2 salads but only received one. I will say the gentleman that sat across from us got the burger with peanut butter and egg on it and it looked delicious. I would try them again but I would try something different next time. Also my Long Island was a little heavy on the sweet and sour or something and was garnished with a lime instead of a lemon
Excellent food, great atmosphere. I have been to this restaurant many times and have never had a bad meal. They have a large wine list and the wait staff always seems eager to please. My favorites here would have to be the shredded pork french fries, the Spicy Shrimp flat bread and the bread pudding. There is nothing better than their warm bread pudding dessert. The only draw back is the location is rather small and there is generally a long wait if you want to go at dinner time and they do not take reservations.
This restaurant is in the heart of Lima. This is very nice well taken care of and clean restaurant. As you walk up their are large beautiful flowers welcoming you. They have a large selection of wines to choose from and it is displayed beautifully. The restaurant has tons of charm and uniquely decorated. The menu is not large but have something to satisfy everyone. Our server did great great service and professional. I ordered The Pit and it was perfect was juicy and tender and the fries were cooked properly. I plan on coming back from time to time.
I recently had a baby shower for my daughter-in law at the Met. I would highly recommend hosting a gathering of any kind here. I worked with Liz who was wonderful with the all the planning: food selections (which were absolutely delicious) drinks, set up, and checking with me a week before to make sure everything was covered before the big day. Great place to host a party!!!
My wife and I had our wedding dinner here. We had rented a large back room for our dinner. There was a large TV on the wall which was able to display their alcohol selection. There was also a fireplace and couch in front of it that guests could sit if they wanted too. We did not have a large party so seating was adequate. I would say it could comfortably fit 15 to 16 people because of the long table set up that it had.The food was great although a bit pricey but that is what we expected when choosing to eat here. Youre paying for a lot more than the food because you get the total experience here. The Sin Greatly fries and Cheese plate were an awesome way to start the meal and their cocktails were quite exotic.Overall, I would recommend this place and I would love for a chance to go again. Its not too stuff and very much my type of atmosphere to celebrate something!
Food was great. HOWEVER. Drove 1 hour.... We waited 90 minutes to get our food... Bread took 1 hour. Wrong beer was served.... List goes on. It was a sad experience for a restaurant with such potential. Management should have been upfront when we called in for reservations that seating is available... But food orders will take up to 2 hours....
Had an amazing meal with my girlfriend here. We got the loaded fries for our appetizer and the pulled pork was mind blowing. I got a burger, which has a really tasty mayo type sauce on it. She got chicken that was wrapped in prosciutto on a bed of very tasty red smashed potatoes. The venue itself is a very cool, rustic design. We will be coming back.
Have been there many of times in the past all great experiences. The latest one was during the holiday festivities taking place downtown. We had breakfast there and was able to have the little one sit on Santas lap. The Met is a great addition to downtown and they are continuing to grow which is great.
Atmosphere was a mix of comfy cozy and modern. Clean and warm. Service was excellent and fast. Food was fantastic. I had the woosley salad and it could have (should have) been my whole meal! The met tavern burger smelled amazing and was prepared perfectly. Would recommend.
Was recommended to come here and Im glad I did. I believe this is the largest draft selection in Lima with 16 drafts at the moment. The food and drinks are pricier than surrounding areas but not obscenely expensive. About 6 bucks a pint and food in the 15 to 25 dollar range. My bartender was a complete gentleman and made the experience as if he was personally catering to me in a relatively busy hour. Theyre very proud of their dishes here and respectably so. 18 bucks for two jumbo shrimp spicey tacos. Sounds basic and expensive but its far far from it. Id order it again without hesitation. Overall very happy with my experience here. Wish they had some cheaper options for the locals but you do get very good service!
Before even walking into the restaurant i could tell it was going to be a great dining experience. I tried the burger with the egg and penut butter and it was awesome. The beer selection was just as unique as the doors hanging on the ceiling. I would definitely recommend and next time Im in Lima I will go back again and again.
I went for the first time on a Monday for a dinner all the food was good, delicious. We were some anxious to go back. We went back on a Thursday of the following week and the scenario was totally different, took forever to bring us the appetizer and for the dinner was double longer the wait. Appetizers were ok, my husband ordered a rib eye steak medium well and I ordered a salmon. The salmon was good the rib eye was burn and not even tasty. everything else burned. I was so disappointed and in a good way I told him about my experience with the food, after he waitress listen to me He said that he apologize but they are having a big party at the second salon and they are ordering steak also. I dont think that is a good excuse for a restaurant that is expensive and a lot of business people go there. They offered me to give a new steak, wine, beer dessert as an apologize. But that is not the point. what I understood is that if you are planning to go there between Thursday and sunday, you better call before to make sure they are not having a party and not able to serve your food good. Just for those people that are curious about how much we paid. The ticket was 103.00 we paid the same 103 dollars plus wegave to the waitress 20 dollars as a tip. Not bad for the service we received, you dont think.
Enjoyed two delightful evenings at The Met while in Lima for a family gathering recently. Great food and cocktails. Reasonable prices. I love what theyve done with the decor - bringing the old/vintage look back to life with an elegant and welcoming flair. I definitely recommend The Met and will return if Im in the area again in the future.
The best food I have had in Lima so far (moved here about a year ago so still exploring). This is more of an uppity place with a pretty classy atmosphere. I had the seared scallops over risotto with asparagus—absolutely delicious. Friend had the flank steak, which looked perfectly cooked. Great drink selection, as well! If you don’t want to break the bank, they also have a decent selection of sandwiches/burgers/appetizers. I’d recommend this place for a nice dinner or a place to grab drinks!
Wonderful experience. We were in town from Cleveland for a couple nights. We arrived about 615 on a Friday. We were told the wait was 1hr, but we had a couple drinks in the bar and were seated by 650.Excellent local beer collection and full service bar, the peach mule was great. Dinner was an apitezer which was a cheese and meat plate. It was good but slightly over priced. Beer cheese soup was next, it was excellent and reasonably priced. For the main dish we had a pinenni Italiano and a flatbread dish called an alsatian. Both were fantastic and cheap. We stayed for dessert too. Creme Brule which was just OK, it needed more vanilla and a bread pudding with bourbon sauce, its outstanding. Both very reasonably priced. All night the place was busy. Primarily a local crowd, but we were welcome. The front house manager stopped to see how everything was and shared the history of the building. The staff was all friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there.I would not hesitate to go back.
Such a nice restaurant with a great atmosphere, but tonight was absolutely unacceptable in terms of food and service. Time to wait for drinks, appetizers and our meals were much longer than they needed to be, with waitresses nowhere to be seen and having to ask other staff for even water refills.Appetizers took 40 minutes to be served after arriving, and when the meals were delivered, they were lacking. Flank steak sandwiches only had half of the sandwich filled, with the other half just being bread. The entire experience was extremely disappointing and our whole table had a terrible experience here. Staff was not appropriately equipped for the day after Christmas. And management needs to better organize which wait staff is handling each area, no one seemed to have their own section which lead to a huge lack of organization.A restaurant as popular as this one needs to be on top of the ball more than this, especially on such a busy night.
Went here awhile back with low expectations for a good meal (after all, we are in Lima); however, we were happily surprised to walk in to such a great place! Aesthetically the building is great! Has a lot of the old world charm the building once had but also has modern additions! Weve been here several times since and have yet to be disappointed with the food! Keep up the great work and I highly recommend you visit this place if you havent already!
One of my favorite places to go in Lima. It’s a nicer gastro-pub with a yummy selection of mixed drinks, beer, and wine. The food is also really good and there are several vegetarian options, including the option to ask the chef for something special. If you have room left after the meal, I recommend the bread pudding. It’s delicious. The vibe is cool, classy, but not too pretentious.
Food exquisite, many great options. It was my First time at this fine establishment (4/12/16) and i was seeking a better experience then what we received. Our server could have used better customer service skills as she wiped our table off with her hand, instead of using a rag, and muttering while serving drinks.
Excellent food, nice atmosphere, bar menu has really good beer variety. Its nice to be able to go to a restraunt in Lima that is not a chain or a pizza place (though we do enjoy the shrimp flatbread quite a bit) if you are tired of the same old sports bars and want to change it up from restaurants that you can get anywhere else stop in and give The Met a try.
Just came for the food so I cant say anything about the drinks. Food was very good. Husband had the tavern burger and was very impressed with it. I had the shrimp tacos very good only made better by the addition of a Pico degallo. Spinach artichoke dip was awesome. If the chips where served warm there would be no room for important.
Great atmosphere, attentive & helpful waitstaff, fabulous drinks and amazing food! The blueberry mojito was refreshing and perfect! The Sin Greatly Fries were a cornucopia of amazing flavors and the loaded tavern burger, peanut butter and all, was to die for!! What a gem for Lima!!! Id give it 10 stars if I could!
In a city of subpar pub food The Met stands out from the crowd. They use fresh local ingredients and prepare it with passion. The service awesome. I told our server about our poor experience in Lima and he took the time to make a list of other restaurants to try in the area even added competitors. Oh and the glazed-doughnut breading is a smart twist on a classic dessert. Delicious!
We tried to call before Mothers Day to make reservations and were told they were not accepting reservations. We arrived around 12:40 and were told they have been booked for weeks for today. We then proceed to call and ask what the wait time is and are told at least three hours. Driving by the restaurant it appears half empty with open tables. How exactly are you supposed to get in if reservations are not accepted? Not impressed.
We went there with family for a birthday party. Food was good, as was the atmosphere, staff was friendly. Really my only issue with this place was that it was a little small to host parties larger than 12 - 16 people. They did have a banquet room but even that was a little crowded for more than 25 people.

2022-04-27We had the chicken marsala half portion and the meatloaf. It was really great! I thought the flavors were spot on! I had the red wine blend and my husband had the sangria which was also delicious. Service was good the place was fairly empty but it was late (after 8 PM). The server was very attentive and friendly and even told us about where to eat for breakfast in the morning. The chef even added some bread pudding on the side for our dessert to go which was cheesecake, also excellent!

2022-04-064/5/2022 7pmThis was a great little local restaurant. They staff treated us great and gave us recommendations for what to drink and eat. I would definitely come back here again and bring more guest! They also take Reservations so if you have a group, best you use that service. The Tavern Burger was crazy good!! The cheese curds were the best I have ever had in Ohio!! The whole layout is nice and it was pretty cool to walk thru their backdoor because you can see the whole layout of the restaurant. My group had the meatloaf and the pulled pork sandwich!! Everybody loved it. If I had one mild critique, I would say the fries were a lil heavy on the seasoning side. That was about it but I ate it all so it wasnt to bad.

2022-01-18We ate a wonderful dinner with drinks and dessert. The decor was so extraordinary I asked the waitress, Destiny, to tell me about the building. She brought over Liz the manager/owner. Liz was so kind and told us a about the building that was built in 1880 and showed us all around. The building was part of the old Metropolitan Bank. There was so much history in the building. They repurposed old doors from the apartments upstairs into dining tables and my favorite thing was the old radiator heaters that were repurposed as tall table tops. The food, the service and the atmosphere were superb! Thank you to The Met staff for making us feel so special. We will definitely be back!

2022-06-15We arrived early and were seated immediately. The whole restaurant was full as we left so 5:45 turned out to be a good arrival time. The appetizers were excellent. Everybody enjoyed their entrees and the service was attentive. Drinks were kept full and plates were cleared as needed. Would definitely return based on this visit.

2022-04-24I spent a total of $42 Plus $10 for tip for my son (teenager) and I so a little over $50. The quality of food was average the service was excellent the environment (quiet and relaxing) was awesome. But for $50 I expect for my son and I to be full. Bigger portions.

2022-06-29I recently had an event at The Met for a book signing (Rock Bottom, Tennessee) and the attention to detail in planning was beyond my expections. Liz called several times about details and then even helped me promote the event. As always, the tastiness of the food was exceptional and the wait staff top notch. I would not hesitate to have another event here. Simply the best!

2022-04-20First time customers for lunch today. The food, service and atmosphere were terrific. My husband had the fish tacos and I had The Met tacos, both of our meals were fantastic!! You never know these days what your dining experience will be, we were very happy with our meals! Will definitely be back!
