Definitely the best greek food Ive had in a very long time, maybe best ever. The shrimp scampi was simply amazing, and served with pita bread, veggies, and rice pilaf. The NY style cheese cake tasted homemade and was so delicious. The gyro was very saucy, not dry at all, and very flavorful.
What a delicious Gyro! I bought the stuffed mushrooms, a large gyro, a kefteses pita, chocolate cake and tiramisu. All for under $40! We had leftovers for lunch the next day there was so much food.P.S., Heres a fun fact! There are beautiful murals all over the walls inside the resturaunt. The artist who did them was brought over by the owner from Greece! If you look in the corners of the door frames, you can see his signature in each of the rooms.
The food is ok - and I didnt get poisoned from wheat. I wish they had more info on their site for ordering. Went with the side of gyro meat, which was a little dry, and the side of rice. The rice was pretty tasty. Hubby got the gyro bowl, which was mostly salad. Overall, for the price, not bad.
What a treat! Needed a place to eat close to the airport and come across this little gem. Wide variety of dishes, ranging from kids red pasta to escargots! Very low key, order at counter. Tried the vegetarian grape leaves, chicken lemon soup, beef shawarma bowl & kids red pasta. They were all a hit. We also indulged in tiramisu and pistachio cake pictured here. Worth a try!
Expansive menu with lots of choices made it hard to pick just one entree. Food was delicious & even though the portions were large everyone in our party was a clean plater. We also had a bottle of wine with our meal. Will definitely come back again and try more items.
Foods pretty dang good. The waitresses ate superficially cute but its kinda a unique thing about this place. They dont seem remarkably witty either but they do hustle. The gyro was flippin huge. Managed to eat it all because it was quite tasty. The decor in this place is tacky as hell but in a slightly interesting and almost cool way. This spot is very unique and Id return likely. Its strangely good.
Good food from an authentically-Greek mom-and-pop. They took an old fast-food building and fixed it up into a nice, counter-serve place. (Photos: spanakopita, stuffed grouper, and chocolate cake) By the way, I was just in from out-of-town, but I got the sense they know their regulars, and they were doing everything they reasonably could in terms of COVID-19 precautions.
I wish I didnt live so far away from The Mad Greek. It is one of our destination restaurants, and has never failed to make us happy. Its housed in an old Zantigo building in which we ate Mexican food 30 years ago. This is first class Columbus Greek dining. The Chalkias family brought upscale Grecian seafood dishes to Columbus many years ago with their Fishermans Wharf restaurant, and many of the current Greek restaurants are owned or managed by the scions of the family, or those that worked there. The Mad Greek offer all the standard Greek fare which is the equal of or better to any other Greek in Columbus, but also offers the delicious Greek seafood we love. Fish, shellfish, butter, garlic, lemon, cheese, wine, fine herbs. Today we had the Lemon Grilled Salmon, and my favorite, Stuffed Flounder. Never forget to order the seafood stuffed mushrooms if you love seafood.(9/25/202) Visited in the midst of the covid crisis. Lunch was outdoors on the patio, served in throwaway containers to help reduce covid transmission. My favorite Greek restaurant nailed it! With all of the obstacles places like this face, we got a wonderfully delicious meal, and all of the precautions to serve it safely. Lemon Sole again...cant help it.
This place has delicious food. Went in on a Sunday and there was a line and the drive thru was continuous. They offer alot of different dishes. So I recommend figuring out what you would like before going. Had the Athena Grouper and it was great. I will be back try some other dishes soon.
Food here is fantastic. I love my chicken kabobs (I get them without onion though). The flavor is fantastic, and the peppers are cooked perfectly. The chicken tastes great. I remember their skordalia being better yrs ago though. It was so runny that it slid right off the pita. It used to be thicker and not as intense on the garlic as it is now. But the kabobs are enough reason to keep me coming back.
Mad Creek is a great place for the mediterranean food. We used to come here a lot before the pandemic. Now with reopening, they start dinning in again. Of course they still do carry out. The food taste great. You got to try it. Calamari, Gyro, Kabobs, Mousaka, and Lamb Shank are among our favorites.Update today: Ha ha, the price is up now, just like anywhere else, the medium Gyro is $7.50 now.The large size of Gyro, is loaded meet.
I wish I took some pictures but the interior is absolutely beautiful. They have numerous selections to choose from here. I tried the fried calamari and it was very very good. They seem to get your order out to you very fast. I would definitely recommend trying them if you like Greek food
Everything is good here but I love the shawarma. You cant go wrong. Even the steamed veggies on the side are very well done.. the salads actually have green in them instead of just lame iceberg. The people who own it are super cool too and have generously taken my order right before closing a few times. Highly recommend.
Great food, great people! I went there only planning to get a Gyro, but the lady there suggested a different plate. It was delicious! While I waited she gave me some lemon chicken noodle soup which was amazing because I had a cold! Thank you very much for your hospitality especially since I told her I was only in town for a day. I highly recommend this place because the food was amazing and so are the people! The prices are also very reasonable.
I use to go to this place years ago food is still good however I will blame the pandemic due to lack of service thats effecting businesses but the attitude I cant excuse. My sisters and I dined in you have to order your food and seat yourself (not a problem) we ordered libations one server was not clear on how to make the margaritas another assisted her they were better but her attitude was awful and once you order you food and you dine in dont expect to see if you want anything else from them or you will have to go find them yourself... advice order take out.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Ohio. I have been coming here since I was little.. the service is always friendly and the food always always high quality. It can get pricey but I think it’s worth it. I trust I’m getting fresh food and honestly I feel like I can taste the love and passion when I eat here. This restaurant deserves to stay open, I haven’t found a different place that compares and I consider myself a loyal customer. That’s saying a lot because I’m very picky. But Mad Greek has proven to me time and time again that they are true to their service, food, and customers. 💕
Quick service and the gyro was ok however I decided to try a piece of their strawberry shortcake that I seen on display. They gave me a precut piece that was wrapped up and it looked like it was at least a week old. The strawberry filling inside the layers was brown. They covered it with strawberry sauce. It tasted gross. Definitely not going back
The only reason I give this place a 3/5 is the fact that EVERY SINGLE TIME I call in and make an order AHEAD of time, ill be left in their drive thru for an extra 10-15 after already making the call 10-15 minutes prior. I believe that defeats the entire purpose in the restaurant taking in call in orders. also I wouldnt suggest for ANYONE to get their seafood pasta, just. stick to the shrimp pasta, the mussels they use are not good mussels, both times ive ordered the seafood pasta the mussels were expired. thank god I know the difference in good mussels and ones that are no longer good, that wont be the case for everyone, so please take my suggestion and get the shrimp pasta, its absolutely delicious, or if you do order the seafood pasta, just tell them NO MUSSELS, trust me you will regret it if you dont . also the calamari is to die for, they give you the option of getting the platter served with veggies or fries, both are great side options.
YES! When you walk in and are greeted multiple family generations, you know youre in for a great meal. Not only is the food AMAZING, its also one of the cleanest and well put together establishments on earth. This is like fine dining at your grandmothers family reunion.
Thought I would try this place out, I usually go to a different Greek place nearby. Feeling hungry and also splitting a meal with my kindergartner, I decided on the gyro Mega Platter and some baklava. For reference, this Mega Platter is $13.99 and on the menu it says comes with fries and a Greek salad. I was asked if I wanted fries or a choice of rice pilaf, and I went with fries. After a reasonable wait I received my food and drove home. Upon opening the bag, clearly I -thought- I received the wrong order. I called back, explained what I had, and was told it was correct. That sad container is the Mega Platter. So far as I can tell difference between this and a small gyro combo is an additional $7 and no drink.Food was good. Far too little of it, and I paid far too much.ETA: maybe it was just an off day or something and the [little] food I had was delicious, so Im raising my review to 3 stars. But Ill definitely be ordering off the combo menu the next time around, sheesh!
Honestly wasnt impressed at all. The prices were outrageous for the amount of food I got, and higher than what was listed on Google. The spinach pie was flavorless. The dips were lackluster. Way over priced. They just used COVID as an excuse to jack prices up 20%. Will not be going back. I suggest you try somewhere else.
First, the inside was very dirty including the Mens bathroom which had no soap and stopped up sink basin full of dirty water. Second, I had to repeat my order three times and finally opened the Menu to point to my order. They charged my credit card and then told me they made and error had to charge me $3.00 more dollars. Third, the order was incorrect and the food had a bad taste. Fourth, I brought the food back and the cashier refused to refund me money, so I asked for the Owner, he came out and approved the refund. I shared that I was going to contact the Board of Health for cleaning issues. Dont go to this Restaurant.
I just ate here. I ordered ahead. I got the lamb kabobs and Cake. It was really good. The cake was fresh not like the frozen deserts from other places. Kabob was seasoned well. I can’t believe the amount of reviews about the language barrier. If ur worried about that go eat at McDonald’s. The nerve of folks. Food was so good. I’ll be returning soon.
My husband and I were handed a menu and told we could seat ourselves ,look over the menu and come back to the counter to place our order(ok). We did that, got our food in Styrofoam to go boxes....😒..I had to send my food back (fried smelt) so over cooked I couldnt chew it. My Husbands Lamb on his gyro was so dry it was close to being lamb Jerky. But the Fries were very Good. The Food here used to be Good but NOT now.I know its the Lack of Good Help why this and Other Businesses are doing so poorly.THANKS TO COVID and the Government Giving people a reason not to work.
I have been to this restaurant about a dozen times, and I have had several different entrees off the menu. Every dish I have had has been incredible. My father-in-law goes here at least once a week for lunch or dinner - hes been here so much he doesnt have to order, they already know what hes going to have! The waitresses are wonderful - attentive and very nice. The cooks are equally as wonderful, preparing dish after dish that is just as great as the last. I would - and do - recommend this place to anyone looking for great service and food!
We use to go to The Mad Greek frequently several years ago! Alas, nothing lasts forever. This last visit was very disappointing. Lousy service; seat yourself, order from counter and pay before you eat. To make matters worse; food brought to the table in flimsy styrofoam box and plate, drinks in styrofoam and with plastic utensils . If we wanted to go camping, we would. Floors & bathroom were sticky. This place use to have a little class. We shall not return!
Always good food and good service. Their entire family are friendly. I usually get the same thing which is a gyro combo. I recently started getting the carrot cake and it is so delicious. They are practicing social distancing so call ahead and order them pick up in their drive thru. Please no smoking, they are serious!
I was craving some falafel today and we discovered this gem. I ordered the Falafel pita with fries which was delicious. My husband, whos usually picky, got the salmon and he loved it! They also got our food ready in no time. The decor is very pretty as well. We had a very good experience and will certainly return!
Ive been a customer for years, but no longer after today! The food is great and the male staff provide EXCELLENT customer service! However the older lady talks over you as youre ordering, will get your order incorrect and then tell you what you ordered when in fact you did not. She would also benefit from customer service training! Im not sure why she is a point of contact with customers because she is extremely rude!!
We have been coming here since they opened their doors. Its a place we take friends and family from out of town as a must try. Everything we have tried has been amazing. Gyros, stuffed mushrooms, calamari, THE DESERTS!! Everything is fresh and amazing. The service is stellar. Prices perfect. I just cant really say enough about Mad Greek! Try it once and you will keep coming back!
The best Chicken Gyro🥙 in Columbus!!The best fries with extra seasoning, dipped in special sauce!!The best apple Martinis!! 🍸Super friendly, & amazing staff!!Quick, & perfectly accurate service!!Cute decor and always clean!!My absolute favorite Gyro spot /Greek Restaurant ever!!We have been eating here for several years!A must try!!
The Greek food is authentic and consistent. I especially love all the vegetarian options, the best falafel and Gyros in town! Oh and the deserts are fabulous! The service has always been quick and attentive. We drive 35 minutes to enjoy The Mad Greek, well worth the trip!
Not d bad mean not really good either..The lamb shank I had was cooked perfectly not much flavor but cooked very well. All the vegetables were almost raw and also starting to go bad. The escargot didnt taste all that bad but for all 10 pieces of meat there was almost 16 oz of butter.Really just a mediocre meal I havent been there and almost 12 years and I dont see me doing it again for another 12.
We went in on a quite Wednesday evening because I was craving a gyro all day. From being seated we felt right at home! Our server was very friendly and gave excellent service. He was always nearby but never hovering. The perfect amount of customer service! We ordered a Poseidon martini and the Aphrodite martini. It was everything we needed after a long day! Super yummy! From the fried feta appetizer to the classic gyros we ordered the food was PHENOMENAL. The portions were perfect, we even left with some. Its a great deal for that price!Im only disappointed in not having been here before!!
I was nervous because we waited outside for about 15-30 minutes. We saw that they were slammed because there was a party if about 10 waiting for food. Once we got in we asked about the menu. The lady asked us to wait a minute while she get the large parties order. We waited patiently. Once she took our order we asked her if we could wait inside. She said yes. They were really busy but our order came out surprisingly fast. Once we got our food home we were surprised to see how big our gyro was. But a little too much lettuce since we had a salad with our order and there was only 1 black olive in the salad. Over all it was a good experience. Fred and Melissa Clarke
We have frequented the Mad Greek many times over the years. This restaurant is great. The menu is loaded with delicious everything. I have never had anything but very well prepared offerings. The service is always friendly and efficient. The building is clean and has ample space for private conservation. Oh did I mention everything they prepare and serve here is delicious. Our food is always on time and always temperature perfect.
Oh my, we have not been at the Mad Greek Whitehall for dinner in years. We thought we would try again with some level of uncertainty and nervousness. WOW. Clean, Great Service, Hot and Tasty Dinner. We will be back love the selection of fish!!. I love mine spicy and perfect. Enjoy, all who try this wonderful place.
I came in tonight as a first time customer and am very disappointed with both the food and service. I dont typically leave reviews like this but I did attempt to make it right with the owners son (via facebook) and unfortunately have to leave a one star review.I am a physician and explained to the owners son that I wanted to try this place after a long night shift in the ER. I placed my order and went to pick up the food before closing. The older woman had taken my credit card and at that time did request for some sauce. Mind you, most places that I have eaten dont charge extra but she decided to charge my credit card without asking or letting me know the total. Im fine that it cost extra but the principal behind that is if you run someones credit, its respectful to tell them the total cost so that there isnt any confusion. Of course, she ran it without telling me that it was going to be extra, and when I asked about it, she became rude. No way to talk to a customer like that. The son proceeded to tell me that the price is listed on the menu, inside, etc. AGAIN, ITS THE PRINCIPAL. TELL THE CUSTOMER THE PRICE BEFORE YOU RUN THEIR CREDIT CARD. He then proceeded to question why I was even questioning his mother. Crazy.Additionally, I expressed my concerns about my food this evening, specifically the fries (very soggy, cold, lack of flavor) and the fish was overcooked. Im assuming because I was picking up the food towards the evening, they probably didnt care and was rushing orders. I told this to the owners son and not once during his facebook message did he address this concern. He didnt apologize for the food nor did he attempt to make it right. He continued to express how thankful he was for my service as a physician. NO need to thank me for doing my job - but your restaurant obviously doesnt care about doing its job to satisfy and take care of their customers.I KNOW DURING COVID THAT WE NEED TO SUPPORT FAMILY OWNED RESTARAUNTS BUT THE SON AND THE FAMILY DO NOT CARE ABOUT MAKING THINGS RIGHT WITH CUSTOMERS IF THERE IS AN ISSUE. INSTEAD, THEY MAKE EXCUSES FOR THEIR LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. Please do NOT support a family owned business that is obviously money driven. CANNOT recommend nor will I ever return back here again.
Huge recommendation of this place. The staff was friendly and greeted me well, I ordered a large gyro with a side of fries and it cost 8 and some change that’s a super deal because the large gyro had more meat than pita witch was awesome and the side of fries were in a large cup so it’s a great amount of food for only $8 and some change. Definitely would go back.
I think this is the first time I have given any restaurant 5 stars, but my family and I have been coming here since it first opened and my kids were barely old enough to eat the amazing lentil soup. The best falafel in Columbus. The best moussaka and the best staff. Most of the wait staff has worked there since our first visit when they gathered around our table to watch my 3 year old eat Greek food and love it. Their French fries are our familys favorite in town. Cant recommend this place enough. Especially if you are lucky enough to be there when they offer portobello lasagna! Enjoy!!
We brought our family of five here for dinner. Everyone loved it! Their stuffed grape leaves are really tasty. The lemon sauce they put on top is really good, too! Everything we got was good. Our waiter was really nice, prompt, friendly, and polite. We will definitely be coming back again. 🙂
Went there today for lunch. I had the lunch special, a Greek salad with shrimp. The salad was very good and the shrimp was very tasty with ample servings. The atmosphere was nice and the server was fantastic. The menu very large with so many choices, I would have liked to see more pictures. I went there with friends that wanted me to look at their car and when I opened the hood to look at the motor compartment, the owner asked if we needed assistance and offered to help. Needless to say, he was a very nice gentleman.I will definitely be back.
Excellent, as always. The service was outstanding even in the lunch rush and the food was marvelous! We split a bottle of excellent wine. My friend had her favorite, the Pasta Athena, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had The Gyro Salad and savored every fresh, crunchy bite. I would happily recommend Mad Greek to anyone who loves Greek food well made and graciously served.
They need to get it together. The mom or whoever at the cash register cant ever hear to place a order correctly. repeated myself twice and went to pick up the order and it was still wrong. The younger blonde looks clueless in there while she trys to help. The guy is always nice and trys to make sure all the orders are correct. ( the owner possibly ? ) I understand it was lunch rush but they need to slow down and focus on not being rude.
It is a very cozy atmosphere with great Greek food. They have dine in and carry out options. The service is above average, even when they are busy. It can get a bit noisy when they are busy, but not so bad you cant carry on a conversation with your table mates. They can not easily acomodate large groups ( larger than 5 or 6), but they will try! The best point though is the food! Well prepared, and generous portions.
I would like to start by saying I/we love the mad greek at the office work at. With that being said, I placed a very large order yesterday and was highly disappointed! Whoever answered the phone was very rude and not helpful. I was called a while after my order was placed and was informed that one item wasnt ready yet but the rest of the order was and did I want to change the order, I did. after another 40 minutes I called back to see where the order was since they said it was soon to be delivered and they said he just left and hung up. 10 minutes later, I was called by the delivery guy to come downstairs and get my food as he didnt want to take the elevator up to the 3rd floor. I have NEVER had this bad of an experience with The Mad Greek, but it seems to be getting worse every time we order. If this is how the restaurant treats customer that order $75 at least once a month, we wont be ordering from there again! I miss the old staff that was much more friendly and customer service oriented!
Tied for best gyro in town, wins the race with dessert. It is my opinion that The Mad Greek is tied with Gyro Express on Morse Road for the best Gyros in Columbus. Theyre not the same, theyre both excellent for difference reasons. Mad Greeks gyro comes in two sizes and has plenty of meat and veggies with a perfectly season gyro meat. The tzatziki sauce is nearly perfect too. Its just the right flavor and just the right consistency. Also they have dark proper Greek fries and proper malt vinegar at The Mad Greek. When Im in the mood for Gyros Im town on which end of town Im driving to since both of my favorites are reasonably far from my home, and I make the decision around dessert since its a stalemate in my opinion in terms of gyro quality. If I want Baklava I got to Gyro Express, their Baklava is unmatched. If I want delightful fruit creme cake I go to The Mad Greek. Mad Greek also has a much more robust selection of proper Greek sides of the two.10/10 Ive been to The Mad Greek dozens of times over the years and will go many more. Gyro & fries is highly recommended, strawberry creme 3-layer cake is mandatory.
Passed this place all the time while working at the nearby Defense Supply Center and finally went in at the recommendation of an associate. Glad we did, left with a full stomach that didnt leave a dent in the wallet. For three meals with drinks, total was 40 dollars. Portion size exceeds what you pay for. I had the Grouper Salad, which was very delicious. The grouper was perfectly grilled and the fish was moist and very tasty. The restaurant staff were very friendly and despite the lunch hour rush, they always made sure we were okay and drinks were full. Highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.
They do not carry lamb for Gyro. Was very disappointed. The cajun chicken was ok... I really like the French fries.I had asked the older elderly lady, if you carried Lamb. She stated no we do not. Her customer service was horrible. It was for take out. We was standing there for 10mins before she even took our order.
Some of the entrees and desserts are in a display case when you walk in. I saw the menu on the wall, and worried that this wasnt a sit-down restaurant. But it is, with lovely Greek scenes painted on the walls. I ordered the moussaka. The eggplant, zucchini, potatoes, and ground beef were so tender, the tomato sauce so sweet and delicious, and the bechamel sauce was smooth as velvet. This surpassed any food that I just had on vacation this Fall. I split the chocolate nut baklava with my friend, and rather than being cloying with honey, it was more like a cinnamon roll. Layers of deliciousness. Large menu, and all of the plates going by looked full and delicious.
This is my go to for Greek fries but unfortunately there is only 1 time to mess up with me and not try and make it right. The fries topping were not edible, had a weird taste to it and I hate wasting money plus gas! Ugh. Called to let them know and gentleman said he would check on it.
Ordered fish and smelt mega platters, which come with fries and a small Greek Salad. Past visits have shown this a good bet. But not this trip. The cooking oil needed to be changed. Our fried entrees arrived darker brown than usual and left an unpleasant aftertaste. The Greek salads were featureless; no Feta, one lonely, black olive and some red onions atop a small pile of green ruffage and a small salad pepper. Its dressing was pedestrian and also served as a dipping sauce for the lightly-breaded smelts, which were chewy and tasted a bit fishy. The sauce didnt elevate them. Service was initially slow but the kitchen was quick. Portions were generous. The fresh-cut fries are a wonderful plus. My snapper filet was nice. It deserved fresher fry oil. On a good day, Mad Greek can make a tummy smile, but not today. Next time, Ill stick with meat.
I was seated instantly even though they were super busy. I ordered and recieved my food within minutes. Delicious and huge portions. Polite and attentive staff. Would recommend and would definitely come back. I was on a working lunch and I was worried that choosing a sit down place would take too long but it was well worththe visit!!
This is a wonderful, local family owned restaurant and is where I go when I want eat Greek food. The menu can be overwhelming until you get used to it. I havent had a bad meal yet. My biggest isssue is noise due to the building design. My family loves this restaurant.Good appetizers we like are the Fire Fries, Spanakopita, Fried Smelt, and the go to Hummus. The Gyro is good, but my favorite is the Shawarma. From the dinner menu, Ive tried many items and am partial to the Lamb Chops. Thats they most expensive thing on the menu.i dont order often because I want to try everything.Desserts I love them all.
I love Greek food and was extremely lucky to find Mad Greek from the airport to the hotel. My wife and I shared some hummus and stuffed grape leaves as an appetizer. Hummus was definitely top 3 of all time, and the stuffed grape leaves were have meat as opposed to mostly rice. The stuffed grape leaves we have ever had. For my meal I had a beef shawarma sandwich. Packed with juicy beef, yellow peppers, and other goodies. It was simply amazing. Their fries were awesome too.I HIGHLY recommend this place... based on 1 visit there so please keep that in mind.
Mad Greek, the mere mention of the place makes me hungry! Some of the best Greek/Mediterranean food Ive ever had. The classic gyros are excellent, the shawarma is so good, and I just tried their Fire Fries, I could eat them as a meal by themselves. The wife is not into this type of cuisine so much, but she still loves their salmon and snapper filets, and there are also many other classic American and veggie offerings so just about anyone can enjoy eating here. The service is surprisingly fast and the servers are very friendly. If you have a sweet-tooth (and still have a smidgen of room left,) their selection of fresh desserts is wonderful. If youre going for lunch, try to be seated by 1100am during the week or you may face a wait for a table, this little restaurant is pretty well known in these parts. We also enjoy getting their food as take-out and heading home for a quiet evening-in.If you enjoy Greek food and are ever around East Broad in Whitehall, stop in for some Mad Greek, I do not think you will be disappointed.
Ive lived in Columbus for 8 years and just found this place, which is totally my loss because its awesome. The atmosphere is pleasant and clean and the food is first rate. Best of all, youl wont go to the poor house eating there. You could spend more and get a lot less at other places. If you like Greek food, give it a go.
My wife Betsy and I had the Gyro Greek salad and Mousaka (eggplant, zucchini, potato, ground beef layered, topped with marinara and béchamel cream sauce, sprinkled with freshly grated romano cheese). It was all delicious. The chef even came out and gave us a small Greek salad he had made for lunch for us to try. It was delicious as well. We got a Walnut Baklava to go and ate half of at home. It was incredible!!
We stopped in tonight and ordered several things for carry out. I noticed big beautiful slices of lemon cake, ready to be served, inside their refrigerated case so I ordered a piece to go. Dont fall that scam!!! For carryout, they already had cake slices boxed up in styrofoam containers and that is what I got. When I opened the container at home there was the most pitiful little sliver of lemon cake Ive ever seen. It wasnt fresh, most likely a day or two old and probably a third of the size shown in the display case. Of course, I paid as much for mine as someone else who got the display slices and ate in! Rip off!
Torn between a 3 and a 4 rating.THE FOODMostly competent, but nothing outstanding. The escargot and calamari were pretty decent. The baked fish has way too much bread crumbs on them, the veggies were soggy, but the rice was nice.THE SERVICECompetent but transactional.THE ATMOSPHEREPretty much what youd expect for a Greek place in Whitehall. A cheesy attempt at faux Greek.
I love Mediterranean food! But from all places where I have ever been this place was the worst. The server brought me old chicken noodle soup from the can. Beef shawarma was dry ,and tahini sauce was just a mayonnaise with parsley. When I go to the restaurant I expect to pay for chefs special food, but not double price for the caned food from the grocery store. Very disappointed!
Food is good however customer service is horrible I believe the owners mother is running the front counter she is very rude, answers phone doesn’t say hello please hold or anything then will just hang up. Seen her on the side of the building one day smoking and came straight in handling money and food and never washed her hands from smoking. Could be a good place to eat but they are some really rude people there.
This place is a joke! The waitress were very rude! We watched the kitchen staff go into the bathroom without removing towels and apron. We got my son chicken fingers and fries they tasted as if they were cooked in extremely old fryer grease to the point where he wouldnt eat them!
Sorry just didnt really like my gyro! I gave this place a try bc the reviews stated to was better than the other greek restaurant in the area that I love but is less convenient for me so i tried Mad Greek bc Im near this location frequently. I was disappointed i couldnt eat the pita at all it was hard and the gyro meat tasted old and reheated. The lemon cake I ordered however was AMAZING...so i might give them one more try before i write them off..Hopefully it was just a bad night bc this location is very convenient 4 me and some of that lemon cake after an actually good gyro would make my evening
So I went to Mad Greek about 2 weeks ago. I had a coupon from valupak for 2 lrg gyro and fries for $16.99. First they said the coupon was expired but it wasn’t then said cause they have a new system they don’t accept valupak coupons anymore. I asked why do you have them if you don’t honor. No reason given they were tongue tied. I have been a customer there for years and needless to say I will not be returning. The one star I gave is not worth the treatment I was given but I had to press to write this review. Oh and by the way got another valupak in the mail and guess what coupon was in them.
First time diner for take out. OMG so good! Have been looking for an Eastside Greek place that makes authentic Avgolemano Chicken Lemon soup. This place is it! The gyros were PACKED with meat. We ordered a #3 (gyro, fries, soda), 2 gyros, and 2 large chicken lemon soups. Everything was tasty. Fries are fresh cut and seasoned, very good. Have found my go-to Greek restaurant!05/12/18 Update. Have been back and eaten in. Again, great food and service. They have a full service bar! Am now getting take out at least 1x a week, sometimes more because their chicken lemon soup is the BEST!
The lady in the front is very rude ! I ordered a large gyro with fries on my lunch break and when I go back to work the whole gyro was smashed and their was no bread. I went back to return it ; same lady was just arguing and arguing when I asked for another one. So eventually I got another one, I asked her if this was the large that I order she said yes okay, once’s I got back to work I got a small gyro and their was string of hair at the bottom of my food. never going back here.
They served me old fries and gave me to much sauce on my gyro. So much sauce my bag was wet and Soggy. I will never spend my hard working money with these people again. I got a real dry disrespectful greeting from cashier. Extremely disappointed I really felt like they put extra sauce on my gyro like that on purpose bad experience from the beginning to the end.
Need to Work on Food SafetyThe food tastes great but on my last visit there was an array of deserts sitting out on the display case uncovered and unattended where the take out customers could touch and smell them.. I told my wife I was sure those were only for display. Much to my surprise I was wrong. They were served to customers. Yuck!

2021-11-02AMAZING! a must go place in Columbus if you love greek food. its family owned and you can tell! the food is so great, I got the chicken euro platter with rice pilaf. The flavors in the euro were incredible, from the chicken spices to their home made sauces, everything goes together perfectly. The owners/employees really care for you, and make sure your meal is great. we also got chocolate baklava! Also just fyi for dine in- they serve you in to-go containers but I had no issues with that. Cannot wait to return!

2021-09-21The best greek food Ive had in a long long time.Got the Gyro greek salad and my mom got the greek salad. Not only were the portions woth the price but everything was extremely fresh. Lettuce covered in perfectly cooked straps of meat, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives and peppers. The sauce I ended up buying extra to take home.I havent had a salad since the shut down that tasted to darn good.Got the Tiramisu and my gosh Im in love.It was not too sweet, creamy and just delicious. Also the decor is stunning.Go for the Gyro stay for the desserts.

My daughters both ate all their food and my husband and I really enjoyed ours too. The fried fish is delicious!! The staff is very friendly and the place is very clean. 5 stars!!

2022-02-24I was meeting a dear friend for dinner and suggested the Mad Greek. As usual everything was divine. She had actually never had a gyro and loved it. Such a wonderful feeling to share a new experience with a friend. Thank you for your delicious and reasonably priced menu options!

2022-05-28Great food, friendly service. I recommend “The Mad Greek”. We got the gyro plates (one chicken, one beef, one lamb), all delicious. Both of my young daughters loved the chicken one. We also had the fire and Greek fries. Both delicious. The owners are awesome too!

2022-03-08The cashier was really rude and made me feel uncomfortable. Then I went back to the cashier to get some napkins and she only gave me one napkin so I had to take some old ones off a table next to me and my date.

2022-04-18I walked in and went through the line and ordered a signature standard—rice pudding. I was told they were out of rice. I was suspicious but let it go. I wound up ordering a slice of pistachio cake. My friend ordered hummus. It was served to him on a plate. Mine was given to me in a plastic container. I told them they made a mistake—mine was also dine-in. Here’s where it gets weird. I was told “that’s the way we serve it.” Ugh! These women appear to be headed down the expedient highway, I thought. I had a couple of volleys with them before they put my cake on a plate. Unfortunately, it was now wrapped in a cellophane-like plastic. Could I use a knife to share a piece with my friend? No! Anyway, one more quick exchange and I was told the owner would talk to me. Never happened. Did he visit the four (only) occupied tables? Nah. Did he talk to me? Nah. Does this place care about the customer? Nah.
