I live within walking distance and came in to try it out. The food was very tasty and arrived promptly despite the fact that the restaurant is short staffed. The owner and wait staff were all very polite and the experience was pleasant. Will definitely have to come back.
I’ve been staying in hartville for a week now and out of all the “sit down” restaurants locally, this is by far the best. I’ve had the same server twice now (Ashley) and she has been great! The food tastes great and service is fast and friendly! Makes you feel at home! Also the mushroom Swiss burgers are bomb!
Went for breakfast with a group an it was outstanding. I will be back. Until today when my wife was looking for a place to sit with more air flow as the ac wasnt working an it was hot. Waitress told her if you have medical issues you should leave Im not nursing you. We been going there every Sunday for breakfast but will never go back as long as that rude person is working there.
Here I am again with an update. My previous review was not kind to this establishment, but its under new management, and we decided to try it again. We were pleasantly surprised. The decor was much nicer, it still had that great vintage feeling, but there were no burlap sacks hiding the sad state of the chairs. It was bright and warm. The menu was larger, and more appropriate for a small town in Ohio. The food was delicious. We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and a hamburger and fries. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food came out without delay. The only downside was that the parking lot is on a hill and the sidewalk is uneven, making it difficult for the elderly or anyone using a walker or in a wheelchair to navigate. So, Ive changed my review from 3 stars to 5 and well definitely be back. Thanks guys!
Great restaurant. The young man that was hosting on Sunday was so friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was wonderful and the owner even stopped by our table and shook my hand. The food was absolutely wonderful. Love that they use local ingredients. Cant wait to go back.
Amazing to think this establishment has been in existence since 1829. Comfortable respite from the 90 degree summer day. Salad was fresh and flavorful. Also had the vegetable soup and my husband had the potato soup and everything was very good. The service was prompt and courteous.
This place is really cute! Everybody who worked there was extremely nice and had a smile. Food came out at an exceptional time and tasted good and hit the right spot! The decor was simple and had both the feel of old and new. Would definitely come again and encourage others to try this place out!
I am very sad to only give this one star. We were in for breakfast. I got the BLT and had a fried egg added. The toast was so hard it was not edible (not burnt just rock hard) the egg was not fried it was sunny side up and the tomato still had the core in it. The server dropped the hash browns off the plate, advised shed get more. More never came. My kids meals were fine. My sister ordered bacon, got sausage. We had to ask for the bacon 4 or t times. She got it after the bill had been paid. I literally got up and poured my own coffee. I was excited to see this open as so many great memories here... Sadly, I wont be going back anytime soon.
We just moved here & just happened by this place so decided to stop. What a gem! I got the chef salad....huge! Hubs got side salad, club sandwich & fries. Fries were homemade. Everything was sooo good! Julie was very informative of the history and nice to talk to. We r def coming back so i can try the fish sandwich!
Love the small breakfast menu. Didnt spend more than 10min or less figuring out what I wanted. First time Ive been here since I was young, way before it changed hands. Kudos to whoever owns it now. Theyve done a good job. Would return again. Love to try other menu items for other meals.
If I could I would give this place zero stars.. I cannot even explain the bed service that was received. First off it took them almost 15 minutes just to get our drink orders and then another 15 to bring them out. We were the first people to sit outside and everyone else came after us. They all got their food before we got ours. People that came in after us finished their food and paid their bill before we even got ours. Then when our food finally came out, she only had one plate and all the rest of the food was wrong. At this point we’ve waited over an hour for our food, and I ordered a side of home fries and my server only gave me a small order and the rest would be out in a “few minutes” which actually means around 15-20 minutes. The small order of home fries were hard & pale while all the rest of the table got nice golden ones. By the time I got my potatoes it had been an hour and a half. I have never received such bad service in my entire life. Nobody should have to wait even more than 15-20 minutes for their food let alone an hour and a half. This place will longer be getting any of my service again!
Our credit card was charged for our meal (party of three) and also charged for a party of approximately 10 people next to us. We had to file a dispute with the credit card to get our money back. The food was mediocre and expensive. The loaded chips were burnt. There were plenty of staff members, but, strangely enough, the service was not good.I used to love The Pantry in the 1990s. 2019? Not so much. I wish that I could say great things about this restaurant, but I cant.
We will never go back. The service was awful. Waited 7-10 minutes to be seated and have a drink order taken. Then waited another 15 minutes before a different waitress asked if wed been helped. We had been so she just sat down and socialized with another table. Another 5 minutes later another waitress just walked past us and started chatting with them too, so we left! On the way out my husband told the lady who sat us and took our drink order to have an nice day (insert sarcasm). She just smiled and said, you too! Completely forgot about us! 3 people working and no one could even bring drinks. Apparently this place just opened 5 months ago after being closed for years. If thats how they operate it wont be another 5 months before it closed again for good.
I went in not knowing what to expect and left feeling confused and unsatisfied. The Pantry attempted a homey country atmosphere but ultimately ended up creating a hastily thrown together appearance completed with burlap sacks barely attached to the tattered seats they were meant to cover. The appearance of the restaurant was hardly an indicator of the limited menu which provided few options even reminiscent of country style home cooked meals. Though overpriced for what it was, the food itself was wonderful, but unfortunately caused myself and family to become ill. Thankfully, the staff was very kind and welcoming, even during rush hour. Overall The Pantry has room for improvement.
My daughter and i went for lunch, she got the chicken salad on a crosaunt came with fries or chips or you could get soup also. I got the pantry special, Turkey, tomato, etc with chips $8.00. Great deal. Great people, Great young men that work there. Wonderful manners and always willing to help. I would go again. Thanks for a great lunch
Excellent food! I had the burger, it was huge and the angus beef was delicious! The staff are very friendly and the food came out in a timely manner. While we waited for the main course we were given warm homemade bread with a homemade sundried tomato butter which my wife loved! Each of us got a cup of the homemade soups, the sundried tomato soup was amazing! You have to drive through hartville and give this place a try my family was not disappointed
If you are going to let people come in and seat themselves someone should tell the staff that they shouldnt complain about where we chose to sit. Especially complain loud enough that we could hear and make us feel bad for being there to grab lunch. It took double the time for our order because the staff was slacking off and took their good oldd time putting things together. By the time i got my food it was soggy and cold. Then a few days later find out that the waitress overcharged our card for her tip. When we called to bring attention to it we never an apology or anything other than oh we will take care of it hung up. Still waiting for action to be taken.
Finally got to sample the food here. I could eat the salad I ordered every day. It was delicious. A little light on the candied pecans is all, but the wonderful flavors made up for it. I was a bit disappointed in the desert though. It wasnt nearly as good as I had heard and the whipped cream tasted like it came out of a can. I will most certainly be eating here again though---several other menu items I would like to try.
The menu is very limited, the wait was long for what little I ordered and never got refill on the water. Definitely not going back. * I didnt mention that this is not very accommodating for handicap people. Im truly disappointed in the menu or lack of. I wasnt the only one feeling that way yesterday. I would like to give it another try but to get up the stairs and to the bathroom I honestly felt like I was in a funhouse bouncing off the walls. I understand its an old building but theres limitations to everything. Im not blaming the help as she was friendly enough but it was apparent she was doing everything herself and fell on the steps. I noticed that other employees were sitting down as she was the only one working... I feel for her. I suggest that you revamp your menu, not everyone wants what I call Foo Foo food. We should not have had to wait for the check 30 minutes after eating. We could have just walked out but we didnt. I was just very dissatisfied with the lack of...
I love to support local and decided to give The Pantry a try. My expectations were low and it didnt disappoint. The restaurant looked thrown together within the last week. The booths were old, ripped, and cheaply covered. A nail was sticking out of the top of one, I sure hope no one gets cut on it. The food was laughable. I ordered a burger, medium rare with the housemade chips. The frozen patty was burnt, and well-done. I heard them cooking it and probably shouldve just left. The house bun was just your standards grocery store bun. The LTO had been sitting out for who knows how long. The house made chips Im sure were fresh at some point and were overly salted. It was disappointing and dont see how it will last.
Loved the food, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and country chic. A little more upscale ( but still casual) than usually available in Hartville which is nice. Open for a late dinner. The Hungarian stuffed peppers are amazing and the macaroni and cheese was some of the best comfort foods I have had. Chicken Oscar and goat cheede balls also recommended. Prices are slightly more than the breakfast, burgers , and pizza found in Hartville, but reasonable and so worth it. Have not had a place like this in this area. Please check it out.
Terrible terrible service food was awful as could be. Service took forever and didnt send complete order in a timely manner food was cold and disgusting I sent it back but she tried to charge me for it ??? I took one bite and couldnt swallow that. This was after a lengthy wait for my food. Oh my stay far far away. Even another couple I meet had trouble with everything ?

2022-03-25Very good food that was properly prepared. Wonderful menu choices with a board full of daily specials. Very quaint atmosphere in a very historic building. I could have easily taken a dozen more pics than I did.A little off the beaten path, but that is one of the reasons you should go. Looking forward to more visits soon.

2022-07-14Servings are large enough for my wife and I to split a sandwich which came with fries. Good food and excellent service. Small dining area and a bar area.

2021-02-06The Hartville Pantry has a great selection on their menus for breakfast lunch and dinner. Definitely recommend the breakfast bowl(when available) as well any kind of toast. Honestly the toast alone is worth the trip. Breakfast bread and healthy nut were incredible. Lastly, the beer selection is good but the liquor selection is great. They make a mean Bloody Mary but be sure to add some hot sauce to take it up a notch.

2021-07-06Considering the shortage of workers, our wait time was minimal. The food was great! Our server was a bit frazzled (understandable), but she was still pleasant and courteous. I will definitely go there again when going through town. The owner was wonderful and quite generous. Thanks again to the Hartville Pantry.
