We had a very positive experience at The Grand of Dublin. My father spent over three months at the facility following two complex back operations and has even chosen to return to their therapy department for his outpatient therapy. The entire staff at The Grand showed concern for my father’s needs and comfort during his stay. Employees went out of their way to help him even if it wasn’t their normal duty. The staff was also extremely welcoming to my mother and I, as regular visitors, and were always willing to answer our questions and try to meet our needs as well.My family was proactively involved in the daily oversight of my father’s care, as all families would be, and the administrative staff was extremely responsive to any questions or concerns that we had.The facility and amenities by design have a small community feel as opposed to the hospital environment we’ve seen at other rehab facilities. My father was at The Grand from October through January and their beautiful seasonal decorations and activities greatly lifted his spirits during his time away from home.
I agree with concerns others have posted. I had a bad feeling in taking her here because grand places typically dont have quality services. My mom went downhill quickly after coming here and she was allowed to sleep and stay in bed without any meds to reduce the possibility of blood clots. Rather than have her use the bathroom, they encouraged the use of depends.Food was horrible, which I told the staff -- rubbery dry fish (no seasoning or sauces) and skinless chicken. My mom had nausea and I couldnt begin to feed her this food. The aide on duty agreed she wouldnt eat it either. I got a call Thursday morning (Nov. 8, 2018) that my mom was not responsive. But she looks peaceful, according to the head nurse. At Dublin Hospital, two doctors said my mom had been having a heart attack likely over three days and all the nurses (including a nurse practitioner) at the Grand had no idea. I was with my mom when she died at 6 that evening.I went to pick up her things at the Grand and told the head nurses these facts and they really had no comeback for their lack of quality care. The social worker the day before also was so rude and not compassionate in the least about my mom and was disgusted because she didnt participate fully in physical therapy. I thought social workers were, by job definition, to be helpful and supportive of families. They neglected to show initiative and frequently passed the buck (I wasnt on duty.) Its a beautiful HOUSE OF HORRORS. Do not take your family members there.
The therapists at The Grand are extremely skilled, creative, and knowledgeable; very personable and interested in the clientsprogress. The facility is exquisite and elegant with attention to detail in every respect. Rooms are private , quiet and elegant not a speck of dirt anywhere! The food is deplorable. Tasteless, unappealing, poorly cooked. Noodles were so dry, I couldnt eat them and chicken was raw. I would be embarrassed to serve such food! Nursing staff generally professional and patient focused.
If your looking for a 5 star facility, look no further. The Grand of Dublin is definitely the place for your loved one whether they need rehab, assisted living or long term care. The staff is second to none and will not only greet you each day with a smile and a warm hello but will do everything in their power to be sure your loved one is getting the best care possible. After having an unfortunate experience at a rehab in NJ where my mom resided my husband and I made arrangements to have my Mom transferred to the Grand so that we could oversee her care. The transfer couldnt have gone smother because of their excellant assistance. The staff welcomed my Mom with open arms and were there every step of the way. I am happy to say she has completed her therapy after a 6 week stay and was released yesterday. She cried as she said good-byes to the staff that made her feel at home with their TLC. The Grand definitely has employees who truly know the meaning of team work and are always willing to put their patients first. To everyone at the Grand, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.Walt & Ellie Lesinski
All of the staff at The Grand of Dublin were great. My Father was there for 2 months and he received caring treatment that was above and beyond my expectations. I would highly recommend them for all of your family needs. A special shout out to Nurse Amy who was truly a blessing in our time of need.
The Grand was very nice. Beautiful building and very clean. My mom went in for two weeks after hip replacement and they treated her very well. She seemed to be well taken care of and loved the PT time she had. She did say the food could use improving. But overall her experience was very good.
My mom was there for a few months. All nursing staff (including the aids, social worker and the therapists) was very caring and passionate. Danielle, the lady who takes care of the admission was so helpful and understanding. The environment was beautiful, and most of all - clean. I will recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a facility for their love one, either for long term care or rehab.
Nice building, but staffing is horrible. So much to say about this place. The good aides/help move different units, they never stay on the same hall. Where it is better for the patient. They hire new people, then two weeks later they are quit.Female nurse dating female aide- drama being discussed to my family member by the aide, Kianna.Always short staffed to where it effects the patient care. We just wanted a simple recovery from a hip replacement and pain meds where received as a joke- like my family members pain was being mocked as a drug seeker. If you get a room, dont get one close to the nurses station because all we heard was nurses/staff gossiping.I hope this facility gets it together. Its truly beautiful inside.Wonderful aides who have been there awhile truly help with patient care. Alfi, Nancy, Destiny & Sid. Professional personalities from these few aides helped make our stay so much better. We appreciated theyre help so much- we just never knew who we would get to help because they never stayed on the same hall. Nurses dont help the aides as they should. Its a disappointment. To have a nurse come and call an aide that is busy to transfer my family member to the bathroom.Therapy department is so truly great. Wonderful, professional, understanding and encouraging.Get it together The Grand. The potential
Working in a nursing home has to be challenging. But thats no excuse for employees to get high smoking weed in the parking lot. Saw it happening with my own eyes and smelled it in the air. You should really do something about that because these are the people caring people who need them and depend on them.
I feel compelled to write this review after my father basically slowly died at the Grand while family members continually tried to get information regarding his status and treatment, which was not forthcoming. It is expensive facility with some of the most uncaring people I have had the displeasure to be around. There were several nurses and aids that were fantastic, to be fair, but people that had any control over information were generally harried and impatient -- just not kind or compassionate. You had to beg and follow up countless times to get anybody to respond to you, from the doctor to many of the aids and specialists. In particular, the speech therapist was offensive in the way she spoke to my father and to us family members. Condescending attitudes towards patient and family and impatience were par for the course. The beautiful facilities is something you will read about but the bar, the movie theater, the ice cream parlor, the chapel, all empty every single time I was there. These amenities are not even staffed -- they were dark, empty, and depressing. The worst part, though, is the poorly organized, irresponsible, and compassionateless people that work at the Grand.
My name is Carolee Luberto. I stayed at The Grand for about ten days. Ive been in two other facilities for knee replacement surgery and The Grand is by far the best of the three. I wont name the other two but at both there were serious problems getting pain relief medications on time and in the appropriate doses. I never had that happen at The Grand. This is a direct letter to Mr. and Mrs. Vrable and I do hope they see this.Your staff is excellent. I also sent you a handwritten letter that I hope youve received.Lisa, Brittany, Shannon, Chris, Jacob and Moses are the best of nurses. I hope you are paying them more than the standard because they all deserve it. No one was ever rushed with me and addressed all my concerns.Rose Jackson and her son Joseph Jackson, Frank and Uyen are excellent at caregiving and food service. They are treasures and I hope you treat them as such. Jeffery always has a smile on his face and works so hard! Please give them all raises and praises.Stephanie OBrien, Olivia, Gail, Laura, Martin, Reddy, Brady, Holly are so great at Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. They pushed me gently and with care to go a bit further each session.Anita Talentino, Catherine, Abby and Danielle and others all provided the best administrative care. I knew exactly what was happening and why. They are well informed and in turn made me a well informed patient.I would not hesitate to return if the need arises. Please keep doing what youre doing and take care of your excellent staff. They take excellent care of your patients.Carolee Luberto
Beware of the young speech therapist at The Grand who was supposed to help my dad with rehab. He didnt react well to her condescending attitude; so instead of the facility getting him someone better suited, she threatened him with getting him booted out-which she ultimately accomplished as her name was on the Medicare report mom got for the reason they denied further time at The Grand. Mom appealed the decision twice as he was on tube feeding, couldnt walk or perform basic human functions unassisted; and ended up in the emergency room then hospitalized-but according to the therapist was capable of being released. Mom spent hours every day by his bedside hoping to talk to the facility doctor-even left him a detailed note asking him to call her so she could try to understand what rehab was supposed to be going on as she rarely saw the physical therapist either; but he didnt bother to answer-I guess he only has a few hours there a couple times a week so patients better hope they dont need a doctor. Dad also waited hours for bathroom assistance, and fell hard enough to cause bleeding twice in the shower because aid didnt come. He passed away upon being released from the hospital, so wont be a burden to the staff at The Grand any more. They should be ashamed of their lack of care and compassion.
We were hoping this place would be able to help my grandpa rehabilitate after a few weeks in the hospital. He needed to build up strength so that he could start walking on his own again & being more independent like he always was. Going in, he was a fall risk. ON THE FIRST NIGHT, he fell! No bed alarm?! How long he laid there without any help, no one knows supposedly! His whole right side, face & body, was bruised & given bloody scuffs! Over the next few days, he had to go to OSU for drs appts. The drs at the hospital were concerned because he has a stoma & it looked like no one was taking care of it over there like they should. OSU had to take care of it & we had to explain to the people at the grand what they needed to do, but they still failed to do it. Exactly one week after he had been discharged from the hospital, they readmitted due to lack of care, the neglect, he had received at the Grand. I hope he never goes back there & I think the hospital agrees. When I was at the grand visiting him, he needed help using the restroom. He pushed the call button. After 25 minutes of no answer, my dad helped him get there. I dont care how fancy the place looks, the level of care is unacceptable. They were supposed to help him get better, not worse!04/19/19 Follow-up: Despite the owner response to this review. No one EVER contacted us. The POA is my father, so I would know. Also, we found that my grandfather actually contracted a MRSA infection in his stoma while at the Grand & that was what was wrong there! Wow! Thank God he survived or they would have definitely been getting a call from the attorney. He had to spend another week and a half in the hospital before being released to a more competent facility. By the way, after he fell NO ONE CALLED US then either! My father said he didnt find it about it until he came to visit the next day. Absolutely inexcusable! This place should be investigated!
Everything that Glitters is not gold....One thing for sure if it was not for the staff, (nurses, nurse assistants) this place would have scored no stars. The staff are friendly and helpful. The administration is above(beyond) reproach. Administrators and Owners feel that they do not have to speak or interact with the family members. Blu the Head Administrator does not return phone calls. Staff is told to tell anyone that he will select whom he calls back. Made arrangements for my mother-in-law to stay there for respite, they called to confirm then two days later received a called canceling the stay. Think twice about working with this administration and the owners before placing ur love ones here. It may be new and shiny but it is the same old song when it come to leadership.Shame on ur lack of professionalism when it come to scheduling and then canceling at the last minute. SHAME
Stephanie told the absolute truth about this place. Trust me there is nothing GRAND about The Grand of Dublin. Its all glitz and glamour. But the quality of service is just as substandard as any other basic nursing facility. The State of Ohio should seriously spot check this facility frequently! We took our dad out of here due to too many issues to list. The social worker was one of the most inhumane we met and should have her license revoked. My Dad still has Medications that havent been fulfilled yet. Would never recommend this facility to anyone else. We filed complaints with Medicare, Social Services and The State of Ohio.I know of several families who feel the same and want to file also.Dont believe anything they tell you on the tour, the ratios are never what they claim and on many occasions we found our Dad wandering and neglected, with green lights on for over and hour at times. Were just glad to have him away from this place safely.Youve been warned.BTW:Most of the 5 star reviews are from Staff trying to pad the ratings.Notice the names. Catherine Denlinger is the social worker at The Grand of Dublin. Jim Muckle, is an Operations Officer. Talk about desperate!
Caregivers dont hear thank-you enough----so let this be a thank-you to all of the wonderful caregivers you have at the Grand. Everyone I came in contact with seemed to really enjoy their job--from the receptionist who always greeted you with a smile or pleasant word---Jeffery who worked in housekeeping always smiling and making sure the room was clean---Kari in nutrition who spoiled my husband to death, she would bring him coffee at 6:30am every morning and she worried about him filling out his menu requests.---the rehab staff especially Holly they got him walking again----and of course his nurses especially Anita and Angie -- I called them the Dynamic Duo but the term A-Team could be used too. They love what they are doing---Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work. thank you and so much to the Grand staff for the care you gave my husband--Merry Christmas Rita Weaver
After looking at several nursing facilities my father and I chose to have my mom stay here on a 5 day respite stay in the memory care unit. Danielle took us on a tour of the facility; It appeared nice and clean, with a slight smell of urine in the memory care unit. When asked what the staffing was like on the unit she said there was one nurse and one aid, and that the nurse doubles as an aid and helps out doing aid duties due to the low acuity level of the patients and their low census of 15 patients on the unit. I asked her if they are to be taken to the bathroom every two hours and she said, Of course, we will take great care of your mother, I know it is hard, but we will make sure she is taken care of.My dad gave them a list of the medications she was taking prior the the beginning of the stay. Once she arrived he asked if they had the list and they said they werent sure, it may have gotten thrown away, they cant find it. I printed off the list and went over it with the nurse and they were missing one of her blood pressure medications, and when addressed said they would add it onto her list of meds. The second day my Dad went to visit her in the evening and she was still in her pajamas, they gave her Haldol for some aggressive behaviors and said they just didnt want to fight with her. My father asked if she had had a BM and the nurse stated that she could give her something to go. My father simply said she just needs to sit on the toilet for 10 mins and she will go. If you give her a laxative she will have an accident. I also inquired about her last BM on a visit and the nurse said, I dont know, thats something youll have to ask the aid. When I addressed the aid, I asked about my mother by name and requested information about BM documentation. She put her hand on her chin and said, oh, that one, that one, thaaaat one, no, i dunno, let me see as she was checking her computer. No BM was documented after 3 days. I simply took her to the bathroom and she had a BM, and I also cleaned up her shirt where there was several food stains on the front of it.On my visit I took my mom out into the secure courtyard and sat on a bench to visit. As I was looking out the gate was flapping in the wind, not so secure Id say and I reported it to the nurse. I wanted to check up on her around 10:30 pm that night so I decided to call. The phone rang for 13 minutes before anyone picked up. They said they would have to find the nurse, and that they would go over to the unit and find her. The nurse was never found and the phone just kept ringing. The third day my dad found urine soaked clothes in the shower, they said she was incontinent of urine. Even her shoes were wet with urine. She has NEVER been incontinent of urine. This means THEY WERE NOT TOILETING HER EVERY TWO HOURS! Her teeth were caked with food, they were not helping her brush her teeth. My dad stayed there until 11pm and she had still not received her evening medications. My dad asked for a cup for some water for himself and my mom and the aid said she could not find any and would have to go to another unit to get some, but couldnt leave because she was the only one on the floor. My dad asked the nurse to come and give her medications. Apparently the nurse was on another floor passing medications. HOW can the nurse double as an aid if she is on another floor passing medications? When my mom finally got some water she downed a glass and a half! Have they even been giving her water? She was the first to get her medications on the unit at 11:02 pm. No one was in their pajamas and were all still up watching tv on the couch! My Dad was wondering what kind of place is this. He said, I can give better care to her at home, I dont need this! He decided to take her home at once. When faced with the complaints the nurse stated, Im sorry you feel this way.Think twice before sending your loved one here. The building may be nice, but thats all. I am a Registered Nurse and unfortunately they had me fooled...dont send your loved ones here.
Today 9/21/2017 my husband waited for help 2.5 hours. He pressed the red button. The nurse came set red button off and without help went away. It happened 3 times. After 3 time nurse came and disabled red button and went away with no help to my husband. Yesterday I personally talk to Nurse Manager to pay her attention that waiting period of 1 hour is too long she agreed with me that it is too long and promised take care about this situation, but today he was waiting 2.5 hours. Is anybody in this beautiful building care about the patients? I want the answer.
Understaffed, DISGUSTING food, my mother fell out of bed two times, the staff that followed the shift never knew smh, the nurse assigned to my mother acted like she was bothered if I had a question, I could go on and on, read the other low ratings, they are 100% correct, including the social worker. STAY AWAY

2022-06-19Our family member received fabulous care at the Grand following a long hospitalization. The individualized therapy plan resulted in her full recovery. The Grand gives you the medical care you need without the feel of being in a nursing center. We were even able to watch a film together in the theater. Great job! Thank you!

2022-02-17I will give this facility no stars because I had awful experience and service.I stayed in my own fiche and urine for 12hours.Even though the medicine was prescribed for ever 4 hours they were giving me every 12hours I thinkthey’re selling the pain medicine. The food is terrible the cleanliness stinks. When you are leaving the facility they don’t transfer the prescription to any pharmacy. The so called social worker don’t make arrangements for patients needs. The bed was missing wheel chair portal potty was missing. I slept on sofa without pain medicine when the bed will be delivered no idea.Worst Ever.

2022-03-28My father was at the Grand for 2 months and his care was neglectful. They were not trained in the care he needed and caused 2 of his hospitalizations. We had 1 nurse who cared and an aid. The rest of them would leave him in his wheelchair for hours and wouldn’t help him in bed. And Lord help him if he needed the bed pan. Their staff is stretched thin. We are told this my multiple nurses and aids. Even the nursing manager sat in the room with us for 20 minutes complaining about her job and how stressful it is with no staff. Not very professional. I understand they are short staffed but that is no excuse for neglect. The janitor came every 2 weeks and did a horrible job. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVES ONES HERE! There is nothing Grand about it.

2022-05-20My father was at The Grand during his final days. I am surprised at all of the negative reviews. All the staff was caring to him and my family. They were very responsive and took very good care of him. Our family had a positive experience with The Grand.

2022-05-16There were several times I was looking for staff to assist my mother and there was ABSOLUTELY NO ONE AVAILABLE. They cannot possibly be working a a level of staff that is approved by the State. There are simply not enough people working to care for the residents, and call lights go unanswered for 30+ minutes. Deplorable. They should not have even a 3-Star rating. No one should put their loved ones here for rehab or end of life - its not fair to them.

2021-10-06My aunt (who is of sound mind) was looking forward to going to The Grand after several weeks of hard work in rehab after a stroke. She met with several facilities for her next phase in her care/needs and what she would receive once arriving. The Grand sold her on complete lies! It a beautiful facility, but the care you receive is beyond horrible. I feel terrible what she endured while she was there. I made several phone calls and spoke to the case workers and they would do nothing about the care my aunt was receiving. They acted like they cared while on the phone and did nothing!! My MIL had to rip them when she was there for a visit and family members of other patients thanked her for being a voice for all on that floor. Grand has one nurse for 13+ patients. It’s completely uncalled for. They won’t even get you up to go to the toilet and if they don’t get to you, you sit for hrs in solid pants. My aunt’s physical and mental health declined at The Grand in less than 1 1/2 weeks and she had to go back to rehab. If I could give this a negative star I would. When I spoke to the case worker she didn’t even ask why we were sending my aunt back to rehab or what was going on. Trust me..I’m not a person to leave reviews, but I’m upset and hurt of the lack of care and broken promises made to my aunt. I think of how other patients are being treated that don’t have a sound mind and family members that can’t be all the time. How are they being treated?

2019-06-05I have returned home from my second stay at The Grand for rehab following spine surgeries. I have been so impressed with the staff, including each of my therapists, each of my nurses and wonderful patient care assistants. I want to shout out about Rose, who made each day more delightful. My room was amazing- with views of the children playing outside. Having a private room and bath is essential, and the interactions with children are a bonus. As for the food, I understand that this is a budget issue, and the management does the best they can. Have realistic expectations, people, and then ask your family and friends to bring your favorite foods. Each room has a refrigerator to store those special things- and even a little freezer.I will be returning to The Grand again after my next surgery. I know I will be welcomed warmly and will receive needed therapies. When thinking and planning about needed surgeries, it really helps to know that I can go to the Grand after surgery for rehab and recovery.Thank you to all who work there !!

2021-06-20I only gave them one star bc I had to choose at least a one. The service was terrible! My father is bed ridden and needed help using the restroom among other things. The staff were not attentive to his needs at all, took forever coming to his aid when he pushed his call button. It was so bad on several occasions I had to go looking for a nurse or STNA in another unit. I do not recommend this facility at all. The food would be sufficient for a rodent. Don’t let the looks deceive you!

2018-03-25I waited 8 months to write this review as I wanted time to really get to know The Grand. Last July, we moved my 97 year old mother into assisted living. We are so glad we did! When I fist walked into The Grand, I said to my wife, I want to live here now, 8 moths later, I still feel that way. More importantly my mother is so happy and pleased with the choice. The facilities speak for themselves, far exceeding the other senior care facilities we looked at. However, the staff are what really make The Grand a great choice. When the owner, his wife and whole family participate (not just attend) in the Christmas gala, you know that this is just not another corporate property of some big company. The food (dining service) is very good, with lots of options and a staff that are willing to cater to special needs or requests. If you are considering assisted living for a loved one, do give The Grand serious consideration. We are so happy with the staff and how they make that wonderful facility come alive for its residents.
