The Exchange in other cities:
Used to come here often to sell my old games and stuff like that. Recently I took in a controller and was told that it “did not work”. I took the controller next door to the GameStop who is notorious for low balling or not even accepting items. GameStop took the controller and said there were no issues with the item. I’m led to believe that the “Exchange” didn’t even test my item or any of the ones I brought in before
The staff is beyond helpful. If they dont have something at that store they will get it from another. The wide selection of stock is amazing. This place has everything you need for a little nostalgia in your life. I go here often and 10/10 experience everytime. Please give them business. They deserve it
I love the Exchange. Not only can you find collectible items for yourself and unique gifts for others...the music selection is second to none. If you cant find what you are looking for, just ask one of the sales associates. Just a heads up...this store gets busy on the weekends. I would recommend going on a weekday. Relax and enjoy the amazing selection of music and items around you.
Since the move to the new location, the selection of merchandise has been phenomenal. Ample room to move about and a wide range of pop culture items are available. From vinyl to statues to books, the selection is great. Customer service is always pleasant and prompt. A shout out to Vince as he always friendly and helpful every time I visit.
Went to sell some old vinyls that we no longer need. Was told that they were too musty Even though the vinyls themselves were in decent shape. The sleeves were worn down. But I see that they sell Vinyls without the sleeves. So kinda baffles me how they wont take vinyls because the sleeves look musty. But will sell vinyls without the sleeve.
This place is amazing! They have a lot of classic AND modern gaming devices. They also sell some appliances, and theyll pretty much buy, sell and trade anything they can! The employees were also really helpful. Its about to be my go to when it comes to video games, comics and music.
I went there to get a couple of used cds. Its a great place if you still listen to cds or even cassettes and now vinyl. There is loads of product and other items as well. Plenty of room to roam around and just enjoy all the music. By the way, I did find the cds I was looking and at great prices.
Love this store! I have been shopping with them since they were the record exchange! They always seem to hire the right mix of knowledgeable people. If you have a question, it RARELY goes unanswered. I remember when they dealt mostly with music, movies, and video games. Not only do they have all of that but Ive personally bought books, xenomorph wash clothes, band shirts, posters, toys and collectables (pop figures, figurines old and new etc) hot wheels, comics, DVD Blu ray players, retro game consoles, and so so much more. Its like a nostalgia/modern collectable entertainment flea market. On the off chance they dont have something in stock like a particular movie, they can almost always order it in and have it within a week! Rewards program too!
My most recent visit at the Elyria Exchange store was horrible. I patiently waited for someone to assist me. During this time 3 customers who walked in after me were greeted and assisted promptly. Also there were associates who saw me, one walked right pass me and did not offer any help. Let it be noted, I was the only Afro American in the store at this time and really felt discriminated against. 30 mins later I finally waived an employee down to help me. I spoke to the manger Megan, and she seemed not to care about my experience. I asked who the owner was, and she would not tell give me that information either. She used the excuse that they were short staffed even though 4 of them were just standing behind the desk doing nothing. This is my last time doing business with the Exchange.
Im giving 2 stars because this store has a lot of variety at a great price, but the staff is what bogs it down. If they know they have a chance they will scam you out of your money especially if youre younger. Some of the prices are also strange, they have a copy of Paper Mario for over 100 dollars and they refuse to lower the price even a little bit so that things been on the shelf for a long time.
A great place to get new & used games, movies, and consoles. The wide range of titles keeps the store busy. They also have a plethora of Funko Pops. The staff is friendly and doesnt pressure you to buy. They are very helpful and make great recommendations. Theres more in the building than you might think. Definitely worth checking out.
A great and big place to find a bunch of neat items!Pros: Has a good amount of everything. CDs, DVDs, games, cables, game systems, Apple products, accessories, records, and more.Biggest Exchange location in the area!Lower sales tax rate compared to North Olmsted, Lakewood, Parma Heights, etc…Prices tend to be a bit lower here than other locations, not including lower sales tax rates.Cons: It seems like their dollar CD section doesn’t get changed all that often. It’s a great place. Visit it for fun or while you wait for your order from Buffalo Wild Wings!
Not really pleased with the overall customer service of this place. I stopped by and purchased a game for the PS3, said game did not work, so I returned to the store. Made the exchange got another copy came home to try it again, second copy did not work. I returned to the store a third time in the same day and got my money back however, it seems pretty poor customer service to make somebody do that much running and then not offer any other assistance besides saying well you can get another one. As I said the only reason why its not a one-star review is at least they took back their defective copies.
Ive been a regular customer for years. I love that they took over the old Buybacks location. They have so many cds and dvds now. Plus a great staff who will order the cds and dvds you want. Plus being a regular customer, they know what I want and do an excellent job carrying the items.
Can find all different types of things here. Video game, music, and gadgets. Good prices. Service is good. Staff have always been helpful when I go in and help me find things for my children. Its good that most are young, you can bounce teenage gift ideas off of them.
Literally always the best staff, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful. Great selection of just about everything. Im happy to see this chain expanding further and further as the years go on.Pro tip: If something catches your eye find an employee and ask them to open the case for you. One will usually seek you out anyways within a very fashionable time, but like with any retail job, they arent mind readers. And their jobs are a bit more rigorous than just ringing customers out. (And being awesome.)
The record exchange aka the exchange is a part of northeast Ohios history and a great establishment for our communities. I Love saving money and they have great gift ideas for everyone in the family. Definitely a place to shop all year round even during covid. Mask up
A classic favorite of mine for many years now. We used to drive an hour every week just to go there, till we got a store in our area. Their prices are fair and there are usually plenty of hidden treasures for budget prices, for those on the hunt. Many collectibles, and electronics are available, amongst the media as well. The staff has always been very helpful.
One of my favorite places since I was a kid. Its going to be weird seeing it move to the BuyBacks location but my business will follow! Great staff that are experts at recommending stuff for those that enter unsure of what they want yet knowing they want something! Can never go wrong at the Exchange!
This is hands down the absolute best exchange store in the surrounding area. Literally is the size of Parma, North Olmsted, and lakewood combined, with about the same staff, and its run so much better. I had more help from employees at Elyria than I think I have ever had at any of the other stores, and I didnt even buy anything. My fiance however was finally able to find a metroid magnet, to complete her NES magnet collection. I will absolutely be back, I saw a bunch of cool stuff Im interested in.
I have mixed feeling about this place. Its staff is awesome and quite knowledgeable and helpful. With that said i have take a PlayStation 4 woth all its games to one and had them offer 27 dollars for it and when i turned down the offer had the staff member tell me good luck getting more for it.
I took over $300 in electronics here and expected maybe getting half of it. While they were looking at it, they told us to look around. I waited over 20 minutes just to get offered a whopping $67 cash or $80 in store credit. They low balled me, thinking they were slick, and when I said no they raised it to $100 cash, or $115 in store credit. All while this is going on the woman who was doing the deal was playing a video game not paying attention to me whatsoever. This place is a joke. I understand how these places work, but this is on the lower spectrum of them. Not to mention they thought they were smart by saying they are already giving me more money than GameStop would, which wasnt impressive at all considering they are notorious for giving no money back. Dont go here. Save your time cause I wasted mine.
WOW..what a difference... so much room to lay everything out... very well organized everything has its own place and not piled on top of each other like before in there old location.. Very pleased with there decision on moving to a bigger space. The people are always amazing.
The Exchange is a great place to find old school records new and old. As well as a great selection of video games for all consoles consoles you can find new games of games James you havent seen since you were a kid the consoles for them controllers and spare equipment in the selection of Music in the store is just as wide as well also they have a pretty good movies section. The people in the store tend to be very happy and cordial and more than willing to go the extra mile to help you find what it is youre looking for its a great place I dont even buy new records from anywhere else anymore because this place is so good.
If I could give zero stars I would. Manager was a kid with a chip on her shoulder. Came in with a valid receipt not even 24 hours old. This child refused to exchange my product because it wasnt in the original ziplock bag it was purchased inWas so rude and impossible. Literally I had a receipt and the bag and she wouldnt exchange my item, wasnt even asking for money back, but just a equal item. Lost a good customer over ridiculous politics.
Today I decided to check out the new exchange store In Elyria and Its definitely a lot bigger then the old one. I feel the prices of everything definitely has went up especially Nintendo 64 games and game consoles like $70 for Mario kart?!?! And $105 for a ps2?!? Ill be back here and there but I much rather prefer the exchange In Parma!
This store buys and sells used CDs Blu-rays DVDs, games all systems even some retro stuff they have a lot of good deals on things if youre looking for just about any in entertainment. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable always willing to help even if they dont have something they can find it at another store or put you on a waiting list until it comes in. Youre doing a good job Exchange keep up the good work and thanks for being friendly
The Exchange is a great place to go for music that is or was big at some point. They have a pretty good selection of CDs from names youll recognize, and some your parents will. Sometimes youll get lucky with the smaller names as well. They also have a decent selection of DVDS and video games. Prices are pretty good. Check them out if youre looking to add to a collection or find something new.
If I could I would give this store a 10 star rating. Everyone that works there is awesome and very friendly. They are so much better than the Medina store who is extremely rude and disrespectful. My boyfriend has been going to this store for years and is known by name.
Steep prices for ok stuff somewhat knowledgeable staff depending on who you talk to and no public restroom so when your ready to check out with a couple hundred dollars in stuff and your daughter can’t go to the restroom because there is no public restroom. Oh also target and Walmart had them beat on some of their blue ray prices
Was just in this store (2/23/19)with my young children and the entire store smelled overwhelmingly like marijuana (weed, pot, etc.) Im pro-weed and though ohio is a medical state it prohibits the sale of the flower(bud) so theres no excuse for this. it got so bad it wasnt comfortable having my kids in there. The staff apparently thought it was entertaining and though a customer open the door to air it out a staff member shut the door. The staff should have more consideration for families coming in and maybe at least try to help the situation instead letting there store small like a dispensary. Never returning.
For a smaller store they really have a large selection of items ranging from various movies, TV shows, specials, CDs, Records, Games for all consoles aswell as the consoles themselves. They also carry a large selection of pop culture items, figures, and funko pop figures. Trade ins are hit or miss there depending on the day and items brought. If you think its junk its best just not to bring it.
Came in to browse and as I was going through store I heard a loud crash behind the counter. Apparently they were reviewing a game console trade in for a customer and the employee dropped, and broke the system. What did they do??? Gave it back to the customer and did nothing to correct THEIR mistake. Absolutely disgusting!
Its really hit and miss with these spots. The hits make you wanna keep coming back, cause the service is excellent. The misses make you want to avoid those places like the plague. The one in Elyria is a major MISS to me. A lot like the one in Willoughby to me, where the personnel are fake as all get out and just really off putting. The one in Elyria didnt find my card info, which is total BS cause every other place has found it with no problem. Places like these are why stores like this are fading into the abyss forever never to be seen again.
Very nice staff but 99% of the things in this store are way over priced they also offer you the least amount of money for your stuff, I sold a google home speaker to them for about $8 came in a couple days later and had it listed for $40 and good luck trying to call them it always rings busy
The exchange in Elyria was great they handled my ASD childs needs perfectly the manager went above and beyond to get him the Skylanders game for our system and also when i bring him into the store they do their best to make it as easy and comfortable as possible for him. This is an amazing store with amazing workers. This will be the only exchange i will take my child to even if i live in old brooklyn its well worth the ride there.
Went in to sell my Wii u and ended up buying a PlayStation 2 cuz I had more variety of games that I liked the person who helped me was Richie he is awesome great person gave me a great deal on everything walked out of there spending $0.55 total highly recommend seeing Richie there
One of my favorite places to purchase excellent pre-owned CDs, DVDs, Records, video games &pop culture memorabilia. Ive been going for MANY years and have NEVER had a bad experience.PLEASE REMEBER TO SAVE YOUR RECEIPT JUST IN CASE YOU HAVE A PROBLEM so they can help you.
Unlike their North Olmsted location, the service here is not good. They workers have actually been known to almost ignore you here. They are not friendly and they arent very interested in helping you. The selection at this store is okay. I honestly would rather travel 10 miles out of my way and go to their North Olmsted location to shop than go right down the street to this location (What does that tell you about the service?).
I would give zero stars but took some games to trade in and they wouldnt take two of them because of very light surface scratches and they sold the games to me that way the manager didnt work with me at all I didnt have the receipt either which is on me but if I was telling you I bought these products from your store took them home put them in my Xbox and it didnt even work at all and you would take the game that I played the most which would have more scratches on it theyve been in the containers the whole time these guys are rip-offs I will never be returning and by light surface scratches I mean very light I couldnt even tell that they were on there

2022-07-12Wide array of music, movies and games. Staff has all been very helpful over the years. New location in the old Buybacks looks great. I typically pop in here every now and then to checkout the sweet selection of horror movie items and merch. Collectibles, figurines, and video game consoles are also sold here as well.

2022-08-17Ive shopped at The Exchange for decades now. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating and Ive alwaya thought the prices were reasonable. And the building is great, very spacious and has a lot of variety, be it old and new video games, electronic accessories, board games, and movies/TV/anime/comics.

2022-06-04Terrible exchange rates. Brought in 10 items and got offered enough to pay for only one of the items that I had brought in that the store also had. I understand the need for profit but they are making 300-500% more than paying out.

2022-05-27Gotta love the exchange! Ive been to 3 other locations but this one blew me away. Thr amount of inventory they have here is mesmerizing, youll see stuff you forgot existed! Also huge shout out to them for taking in almost anything you might have to trade whether it be key chains, plushies, cards, old board games, etc. It may not make you rich but you can easily turn a box of old toys into a brand new Naruto Monopoly set no problem. The staff is also all very friendly, making you feel welcomed! Definitely recommend

2022-07-16Love the selection and appearance of the store, but they will low ball you hard when trading stuff in (sometimes depending on who takes your trade). Even if youre just trying to get store credit. This has ruined my experience at the stores on multiple occasions, especially at the Sandusky and Elyria locations. So much so that I refuse to shop Sandusky and have almost reached that point with Elyria. Its like pulling teeth to try and get a reasonable offer sometimes, and its very unpleasant.

2022-07-29Very strange experience. Someone else left a review on Google about them saying there controller didnt work. Well I had a similar experience with my console. They said it wouldnt power on. I just got home plugged it in and came on right away. If they dont want to buy it they should just say on the phone. Sold some games. Only got enough money for a gallon of gas that I probably wasted driving there. May be alright place to buy stuff but Id stay away from trying to sell anything to them

2021-12-17THE BEST place for music, CDs, DVDs, collectables, used Xbox, playstation, Nintendo games, accessories, stand alone consoles and hand-held gaming! Tons of vinyl and now music gear! Guitars, basses and amplifiers! Elyria is the flagship store, but all exchanges have a wide variety of music gifts and collectables! Its a must stop in place for the holidays and year round gifts!

2022-04-30I love window shopping here. Occasionally I get something, but for videogames that are popular on the retro side they are more expensive than anywhere else by a lot usually. Trade ins are a slap in your face if. you being in anything of value. Sold a Gameboy color silver Pikachu edition here and they only offered me 40 for it and Zelda botw combined, but later sell the same Gameboy for 110$. You basically get 1/4 of the actual value of something in cash. Fun to look around though.. Their prices used to be much better 4 years ago.
