We have had Stella & Luna both trained at The Dog Wizard Medina. Steve Aurelia and Bobby were excellent with our dogs. They were kind and used positive reinforcement in their training. They also continue to offer free support groups to help reinforce training. When I bring up their videos on the computer & the dogs hear their voices, they run to the computer and are so excited. We totally trust leaving our dogs in their care. We highly recomment The Dog Wizard Medina. Al & Gina Hedervary
Saved My Dogs LifeNot to be too dramatic BUT we adopted this 8 year old dog without knowing ANY of her idiosyncrasies to include that she is a purebred Shetland Sheepdog with ALL of that breeds natural instincts (to include herding and barking). She had been previously VERY poorly socialized to include being permitted to run loose (chasing trash trucks, the mail trucks, and big busses, the postal system QUIT delivering the mail). She herded the neighbors children ( and scared them). She was then put on a long lead and relegated to the barn. As the family was going on a trip, I volunteered to pet sit for two weeks. She loved chasing the ball ( 40+ times, she and the breed are VERY high energy) as well as walking on a lead. That became the problem as she would wrap herself around my legs as she saw truck, cars, and people. At 30 pounds she was uncontrollable when she saw another dog on the walks. When she wrapped herself around my legs and I fell into the road, cars stopped to help but she would let anyone near me. As very ungracefully got up, and limped home, I finished the walk home, and cried because I knew I could not give her to someone else and believed that she had to be put down. When I arrived home, my sister was calling about how she was sending to her dong to the Dog Wizard Medina, how he LOVED going to Boot Camp AND they offered a Boarding School experience of a two week period of time. My dog was enrolled, attended, and returned to me with a totally new disposition! NO EXAGGERATION! I was also taught the needed consistency to keep her progress as a Good dog going. Aurelia, Steve, and Bobby at the Dog Wizard Medina saved my dog ( and me). I cannot express my appreciation enough AND pack walks are offered every two weeks to reinforce all the good dog strategies and behaviors for ever. This team of helpful people are just a phone call or message away. Send you dog to the daily Boot Camp experience or better yet, Boarding School. You will NEVER regret the experience and neither will your pet.
I love everything about the dog wizard. They did a great job training my gigantic dog 😂Also their facilities are clean and there’s always dogs out socializing or training. Aurelia and Steve have been so flexible and helpful. We live about 40 minutes from them, but I would never go anywhere else!!! I highly recommend!!!!
We’ve recently completed a 5 day private lesson package with Trainer Bobby and our 2 yr old Grand-doggy Ella, who was visiting from DC. Our experience was wonderful and successful. Aurelia and Steve accommodated our very brief time constraint, even during the deep snow week, by having us work with Bobby 5 days in a row. Ella was a harness wearing puller, who had trouble with her attitude around some other dogs. She left wearing the recommended light slip collar The Dog Wizard provided, with new skills of proper walking, extended staying in “Place”, and interacting properly with other dogs. She, and we, learned to communicate, with eye contact, praise and rewards. What a delightful experience! We shared videos of our training sessions with her owner, our daughter Robin, and gave her the tools and knowledge Ella learned. A very good investment indeed! Thank you so much, Guys!Michelle Mowson
My dog Maxwell has been doing the 14-day day train and we’re only 5 days in and there’s such a huge improvement in him already. We can manage him better both inside the house and outside already. We never used to be able to keep him outside if we were having a bonfire or doing anything else in our backyard because he was just unmanageable outside. The other day, we had a bonfire and he got to spend the entire time outside with us because I was actually able to handle him. And that’s a huge success for us, because I want to be able to include him in all of our family time! Steve and Aurelia have been great in helping me understand why he does what he does, and how to curb his behaviors and stop some of his certain behaviors before they happen. The structure that Maxwell and I have both learned has been life-changing already just for the fact that I’m able to include him in more of our family events. I’m so excited to see where he’ll be at the end of the 14 days, and I’m so glad I decided to invest in Maxwell’s life with The Medina Dog Wizard!
I cant say enough about The Dog Wizard; they are amazing in training not only dogs but in training the people attached to the other end of the leash. Our family came into their office with our pug Stitch, who was acting out. When Steve told us well get to that behavior, if he even still has it. Lets start... and at first I wondered WHY we werent addressing the issue.Except, I soon realized the issue wasnt JUST that he ate grass clippings or ANYTHING off the ground. His issue instead was needing to be refocused on who was alpha. WE were ALPHA.Coming to that realization made all the difference. By our second training lesson, Stitch was a different pug. He was going in place and staying. We started working on duration and then, drum roll, we got to THAT behavior; his growling when he had a toy that he didnt want to drop. Steve walked us through what was happening in his brain, then what we needed to do as Alpha. Now, he drops with encouragement, but we are SO getting to the end goal!Stitchs other major issue that we couldnt quite fix was his pulling on the leash. Hed follow the commands, I would do the tear drop motion for him to start by my side. I would take a step forward and OFF to the races hed go. On our final private session, we used the HermSprenger collar. GAME CHANGER!!Instantly, the prong collar spoke his language! No more pulling! Tonight my husband and I took Stitch for the most WONDERFUL walk weve had with him (in the year and a half weve had him!) Because of the collar and because we listened.Steve and Aurelia have helped my family beyond measure by showing us how to speak Stitchs language better and how to be a better Alpha for him.Every dog and family can benefit from their expertise and guidance. Stitch is happier because his needs are now being met. Rather than searching for grass clippings hes enjoying JUST BEING part of our family.Thank you so very much!Erin, Eric, Aiden and Charlotte
Great people and the training is effective! Training a dog is as much (or more) about training the owner, but even when we first get home after a session and before we have a chance to work with him, we can tell that significant progress was made. And they do a great job of pooping him out!
I am very pleased with the training that my 4yr. old Belgian Shepherd/Husky mix , Yazzi, receivedduring her training sessions , private and group.Steve and Aurelia are very conscientious people and trainers and are looking out for the well - being of not only our dogs ( kids ) but for the owners , which is where I came in and was a little slow at learning the correct responses to Yazzis issues ,and still am , but working on it .They hired Bobbie ,as a trainer , who I think is going to benifit their business immensely. They are all good at communicating with not only the animals but what may be as important, the pet owners. Thank you !!I highly recommend the Dog Wizards of Medina !🐕🐕😁 Chris Garner 4/3/22
In early spring, had recently gotten a French Bulldog puppy named Gus and was looking for a trainer when I met Steve & Aurelia at a dog show in Hardesty Park, in Akron Ohio. Fast forward to July when I was going on vacation and decided to board & train Gus with them for 2 weeks. He was 4 months old at the time and the training he received was exceptional! I was not only impressed with what they accomplished with Gus, but also the constant communication I received from them while I was on vacation. They would send pictures, videos, and emails with his progress. I was so amazed at the level of care and understanding they gave to Gus and to me! They understood that leaving my 4 month old puppy with them was going to be hard, but their compassion allowed me to enjoy my vacation knowing he was in such great care. They are amazing dog trainers, but they are wonderful humans! They listen to what you want and always offer great suggestions. The continued follow up care is another great benefit. They welcomed Gus into their family and they will forever be part of ours! As a dog Mom, I meet many other dog Moms and Dad’s who are so impressed with Gus, so I tell them all about my experience. They will always be Gus trainers! We love them!
Aurelia and Steve have been a wonderful support team for me and my Cockapoo puppy, Remy! We did some basic training and they continue to stay in touch and work with us to fine tune his behavior. He is a delightful dog and still needs some reinforcement since his puppy craziness some times results in barking and rough play. The Wizards are amazing, patient, loving trainers and it is a pleasure to work with them.
Steve and Aurelia are wonderful to work with and worked miracles with our feisty poodle. Once formal training is over, they are always available for questions and ready to give advice as needed. They also have group walks with other students and its a great time to get some added support and tips. It impresses me that they continue to be available to you and offer guidance no matter what!
Steve & Aurelia are great trainers. I highly recommend them. Our dog was not good socially and with their heip and us doing our homework, Bentley has come a long way. Make sure you do your homework to re-enforce their training. From the first time they came to evaluate, we knew they were a great fit for our dog.
Kudos to Aurelia & Steve and The Dog Wizard program! We chose a board and train session for our 2 yr. old Great Dane who needed some help with leash walking and recall. While on vacation, we received updates via text, pictures and video. It made us comfortable seeing she was safe, well cared for, and treated like one of their own. Steve and Aurelia continue to check in on Delilah, work with her and with us!! It’s important as dog owners to do our homework and reinforce the training. Delilah is doing so much better that our walks are actually enjoyable. I love the fact that I can reach out to Steve and Aurelia and they always respond with an e-mail, text or even a drop-by. Now that’s service!! I highly recommend The Dog Wizard and the personal care Steve & Aurelia give to both dog and owner.
Aurelia and Steve have been working with me and my dog, Gemma for the last couple months. Gemma did a two week board and train with them. At first I was hesitant for my dog to be away from home for that long, but Steve and Aurelia made me very comfortable and sent updates often. Gemma is much more calm and mentally stimulated now that I know the proper commands and exercises to do with her daily. Dog training is a continuous thing and I continue to put in the work with Steve and Aurelia to get Gemma over her dog aggression. They are committed to helping us and I really appreciate that. I know Gemma adores her trainers and had a good time at board and train because she is very excited to see them and gets excited when we go to the training facility. We also attend the pack walk every other weekend. It is awesome to have a way to continue the training in a safe environment with other Dog Wizard clients. I highly recommend The Dog Wizard Medina to anyone looking for training for their dog.
We added a male Cavapoo while on the lock down of 2020. We searched out to get him some basic training and couldnt be happier with the Medina Dog Wizard. Joey has responded well and I look forward to continuing his learning. Our interaction was manly with Steve, who really cares about your animal. A trained dog is a happy dog!
We had spoiled our now 2 year old Cosmo, a bulldog-beagle mix. Sweet, smart and lovable, he had bad habits, jumping on visitors, taking things off of the counters to chew and barking at bigger fluffier dogs, in addition to wanting to pull at cars as we walked. We turned to Dog Wizard and really researched them. As a teacher I was very thorough. We did the 1 week stay and train. They sent us daily photos and videos. Now one month later (no regressing In training at all) we have a perfect dog. He sits and stays on command, has never jumped or taken from countertops again, yet remains our sweet lovable, sit on our lap and sleep in our bed dog we didn’t want to lose. I 100% respect their professionalism and kindness - they heard our needs and we love the results!
We needed help with structure/training for our rescue Quincy and they got it done. Quincy was very unpredictable, but now we better understand his thought process and what he needs to feel safe and secure. The follow up support was very good, and we board Quincy there when we go out of town. We never worry about his safety or how well he is being treated. Steve and Aurelia are caring people who have the dogs best interest at heart.
Giving them 1 Star is being generous. We went from having a family pet with questionable manners to a complete nightmare. Any attempt to express our concern about her obvious change of behavior has been met with the owners telling us it’s our fault for lack of “doing homework” and being dismissed because apparently we expected too much. For $1200.00 we expected our dog to be returned to us, at the very least, the same way she was before, not worse. We would gladly pay double to have our pet who was fully housebroken, would never snip at our kids or snarl at us back. It’s unacceptable, something happened to her and the only thing that changed was the 6 days she spent with the dog wizard. We are completely devastated and frustrated. Save yourself the heartache and money and take your family pet to reputable company that stands behind their training and backs it with a guarantee. These owners are a joke at best and judging from our dogs behavior after she was with them, they are much worse.Reply to owner: Great lip service- twice now someone was going to pick her up but your trainer Sean never returned a call and you were busy at the ice festival.Every other week since December it’s been something with you guys- vacation, someone died, you’re busy putting together a plan for Bella, you’ll call back after you talk to another trainer etc. etc. etc. The other option you offered was to spend more money to get a collar that you say may work to go with the used drink bottle full of rocks you gave us to use to scare her when she is behaving badly. Your first visit back with Bella in our home was embarrassing. As a business owner providing a service you should have been ashamed...you the expert couldn’t even get her to sit. We aren’t inexperienced dog owners we clearly understood follow up, what we don’t understand is how she came home to us with serious behavioral issues. Our previously fully housebroken dog now has to be crated and is now snipping at our young children. Your only explanation is that she is rebelling against the training(and the follow up you just said we don’t do) How could we be anything but frustrated. The bottom line is we paid for a service you did not provide and your only real resolution is to blame us.
Steve & Aurelia are Wonderful trainers!! They listen to the individual needs for our dog & took the time to help us figure out a solution. They took the time to answer all our questions & helped us understand the exact training/homework we needed to do. I would Highly recommend them!!Thank you both for all your help & training!

2022-04-18Rico, my lab, has been with Medina Dog Wizard for over a year now. He first went through the two-week board training at around 6 months old. Since that time, we regularly attend the bi-weekly support group (a benefit for clients) and I have taken him to be boarded (another privilege).Aurelia, Steve, and Bobby are all extremely knowledgeable and are all dog lovers. I have had friends who have paid less elsewhere for training and were left completely unsatisfied and feeling like they wasted their money, whereas I have never had a single regret and feel like it was worth every penny! In training, Rico learned sit, place, down, come, impulse control, etc. These skills are practiced at support groups where we do a pack walk, followed by a training maintenance session, and ends with a Q&A. If you ever have to board your fur baby after training, you can trust they will be in a clean, safe, and enriching environment. I would never use anyone else! The team at Dog Wizard will provide the foundation for your fur baby, give you the skills needed to build upon that foundation, and continue to make themselves available to assist in skill maintenance. I give The Dog Wizard Medina five stars hands down!

2022-04-01Our Doberman Sam ( now 3 yrs old ) has become quite the Gentleman since going to training sessions ( Day Time Boot Camps x2 ) with The Dog Wizard Medina-specifically Steve! We adopted Sam from the Medina Shelter 03.2020 and he was surely rough around the edges!Sam is 90 lbs of pure Love and Steve taught us, the Humans how to carefully challenge and channel his intellect and spirit! And Sam simply ADORES Steve! And Aurelia helps us Paint Our Pets for fund raisers for Dog Rescue groups! Truly just cannot say enough about Steves and Aurelias dedication to ALL - Dogs, Humans, probably even Cats ( not sure about Cats ! )

2022-07-07The dog trainers are amazing and love what they do. I got a 10 month old German Shepherd puppy that hadnt been socialized with other people or animals and had severe anxiety and stranger danger, to the point that I didnt know how to help him. My dog Vader became good friends with Steve at the dog wizard and is now doing really well. Vader loves going for walks and meeting new people and loves playing at the dog park with other dogs. I highly recommend the Dog Wizard, because they really are committed to their passion and they are all very caring and loving towards the dogs. You and your dog will benefit from the Dog Wizard more than just a quick class from pets mart or other pet store. The trainers know all about anxiety and fear that the dogs may have and work with them to help them overcome any issues they have. Excellent place for you and your pet. They will be happy to show you around and explain how they train and they will answer any questions you have. I cant say enough about Steve and his wife Aurelia. Just fabulous people.

2022-04-03I couldnt be more pleased with The Dog Wizard Trainers and staff. My dog Bentley did the two week Board and Train. I was anxious about leaving him for two weeks but I knew that he and I needed some extensive training. He was unlike any other pup that Ive ever had and was a challenge. After his time with The Dog Wizard, he is a much more relaxed pup and is eager to do the commands that were taught. You and your dog have to do the work. I also like the idea that I can contact them with any questions or issues that I have. They truly care about the dogs in their care and want you to be happy with your dog. I cant wait for our first support group!

2022-04-20Highly recommended! The Dog Wizard have been great to work with in the training of our puppy. Not only did our pup get impactful training while she spent time with them at their program, but they have continued to be supportive with follow-ups and additional questions we have had. I would definitely encourage anyone looking for a high quality training experience for their puppy to reach out to them for help - you will not regret it!

2022-04-02I highly recommend the Dog Wizard in Medina, OH. Steve, Aurelia and the other trainers do an amazing job! They worked with my Malinois individually, in group settings with other dogs, and in public. These folks have a passion for what they do and they are very good at it. They are also honest and up front with you...to have your dog properly trained is all about confidence, consistency and dedicated hard work on the owners part. They lay the foundation with you and your dog in a truly amazing way but the long term success needs your involvement. To support you there is a weekly meet up for dogs that have come through one of their programs. They also offer day and overnight boarding but with a twist...when they do it they work with the dog to reinforce what they have been trained on! I am very grateful to have found this place and you will be too!

2022-05-05Best dog trainers ever. They really care about you and your furry baby. My Sadie was a handful when I first adopted her and although I have trained my own dogs in the past, I needed help. She pulled on walks, jumped on people when they came over and was aggressive when on leash with other dogs. She is a pleasure to have now, no more pulling or jumping. She knows all her commands and some tricks. She is still somewhat leary of bigger dogs when on leash, but she has come along way. I highly recommend having your dog trained by this wonderful coupleCarole

2022-04-22We have had dogs for 50 years. We went with every one of them to dog trainers. Bailey, our 4 year old rescue, joined us 18 months ago and we had already been to 2 other trainers with her, with little progress. She showed us quickly that in spite of 49 years with “our other dogs and trainers”, we knew little about how to solve Bailey’s socialization issues with other dogs, her “I know you only came to see me” greetings, and barking that even makes this old, hard of hearing, guy cringe. When we first inquired, Aurelia was both very patient and helpful going through the various options, how The Dog Wizard was different, how the training of both Bailey and, importantly, us would proceed and what to expect with the various options. The very first session saw a significant marked improvement in Bailey. From that first day, Steve spent whatever time at the end of the day with us to help us practice with Bailey to ensure we were going to learn to be consistent with the same techniques. The thorough notes on each technique emailed to us are very helpful and the videos shared are a delight and have us at first, wondering, “You got Bailey to do that today??” Steve and Bobby have both been so thorough and helpful to us, and you can see that each dog, Bailey included, is more than just another client to both of them. The training is a very positive experience for Bailey giving her confidence that there is nothing to fear and, of course, plenty of rewards. She can’t wait to get there on “school days ”. The improvement, session to session, is significant Our daughter, a veterinarian, witnessing the changes in Bailey’s behavior and in hearing a couple of stories I related as I watched progress in some other dogs Bobby and Steve were working with, commented, “They should change their name from “The Dog Wizard” to “The Dog Miracle Worker”. If you would like a reference, we, and Bailey, would be happy to provide more information on our most positive experience. John, Paula, and Bailey Troche

2022-04-01The trainers at The Dog Wizard are amazing! They genuinely care about the dogs they train and their families. They are quick to celebrate success and patiently help with solving difficulties. The support groups are excellent to continue the training and receive support and feedback to benefit your relationship with your dog.
