Planned on stopping here for the night because restaurant was SUPPOSED to be 24hrs according to the TA app. Turns out that they close at night. One more reason to not trust the information NEEDED for a truck driver to plan his or her route. If youre going to close, just tell the truth...!
The TA store is amazing. Sat down in the restaurant though, and no one greated me, no one took my drink order, no one even approached the table I was sitting at. Got up and left restaurant. Food smelled really good too, but if no one is going to come and get my order then good smelling food isnt enough to keep me in your establishment.
Great buffet. Had juicy tender steak, fish, and seasoned chicken. Would be hard to decide what is better. It was all delicious. Had a hot shower after dinner and there was plenty of hot water. Actually had to adjust it down because it was too hot. Definitely plan on coming back here when in the area.
Did anyone else get sick????3 Sept 2020I had the breaded pork chops, which were undercooked. And the steak was very undercooked. I woke up at 2:30 A.M. with extreme diarrhea. My diet is typically the same. This was the only change in quite awhile. This isnt really designed as a bad review. Really, a note to Management. Please, check you product dates, and cooking temps, and times.Thanks.
My first time in this restaurant. Very happy how great the food was. We had a cheeseburger and french fries and the lasagna. The portions were very generous and the staff was very friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. Thank you to staff for making my visit pleasant. We will be visiting again.
There are two restaurants inside this TA. First is California Burrito Company; didn’t eat there, but smells amazing!!!The sit down style is called The Hub Room. The food is absolutely tremendous!!Everything is from scratch; fresh fried perch, steaks, garlic lemon chicken legs... that’s just what was on the buffet. Real mashed potatoes!!!Staff is wonderful and not just in the restaurant! If you are travelling up or down I-75 don’t pass up a chance for a wonderful meal!!
Stopped here for fuel and Sunday dinner instead of going up to North Baltimore because I had read about how good the buffet was, with frog legs and other interesting options. On Sunday at 3:30pm they had no buffet. I sat at a table for 5 minutes and never saw a waitress, and the burrito shop is also closed, so I guess someone else gets my business.
As usual, I was glad to get parked for the day. Its small for a TA but they had enough room for me. Like many truck stops, the facility is well used but, its relatively clean considering the nonstop traffic. The people were friendly and professional. I didnt eat at the restaurant but, something was smelling good. Thanks.
Excellent restaurant; its what truck stops used to be. Very pleasant (and cute) waitresses. Shop was quick, professional, and friendly. They didnt try anything shady, and my bill was right. It is a dirt lot, so if its going to rain youve been advised. Showers were the best Ive seen in a while, but the restrooms need an overhaul. Heres hoping that TA never overhauls this place and ruins the good eats!
I thought it was a dump at first. But when I went inside I was surprised! Some of the best food I have ever seen on a buffet. Very clean and waitress were all helpful and polite. Showers were another surprise. Remodeled and clean. This is an older TA Truck stop that reminds me of the good ol days. Honestly 25 years driving and this is the first time I have stopped here. I will be back for sure.
The staff here are amazing! Super friendly and willing to help make your stop excellent in any way they can. The California Burrito Company located inside has the best burritos!!! Shower was very clean with a large waterfall shower head and excellent water pressure. Will be stopping here again if we ever make it back through here.
This place has potential. They label themselves as the first interstate truck stop but its quite run down. If they fixed it up and added memorabilia and keep the old look but tidy it up, would be a great place. As others below say, the food is great, the people are friendly, and the prices are fair. Parking is easy but limited.
Worst food. Chicken wasnt done all the way through yet xtra crispy on the outside. Mashed potatoes are from a box. The corn looked days old and tasted the same. The extra fat, obese chick with dyed black hair isnt as funny as she thinks. Actually down right insulting. I was walking around the store looking for my husband. She asked if there was anything she could help with, I said no. Just looking for my husband. She came back with I can find you a new one if you give me a second.... seriously? I aint no damn lot lizard.... our waitress in the morning, next day, was really nice. Much better than night shift. The morning girl at the burrito place waa definitely not friendly
Only truckstop in the country that has T bone steaks on the buffet 365 days a year. All TA/Petros should follow the example of this location.Update:3-2-21Buffet is back!! And T-bones are still on there!! Glad to see it up and running andthey even still have a few of my favorite servers back. Still #1 in my book!
I would give MORE stars if I could. Stopped in for truck service. Tika and the guys in the shop did a great job on my repairs, cost and time efficient which is very important to us truck drivers! With service, you get a $10 coupon for the restaurant. This TA has a locally owned restaurant, which is way better than the normal pride restaurants the other TAs usually have. Waitress was awesome, food was awesome, service was awesome. Thank you Wapakoneta for a great experience. This will definitely be a new regular stop for me.
Very nice little truckstop. The food is very good, its NOT a Country Pride restaurant its their own place. Staff are great, Gidget and Rebecca are very friendly waitresses. The parking lot is not bad and has easy parking. Glad I stopped by, and I almost never say that about any truck stops.
Mechanic Shop. Charged for parts that were previously purchased by customer. Nothing needed to be disposed only installed. Took 10 minutes for the work itself to be done and was charged $165.96 which was an unjust amount.Attempted to resolve with manager he said nothing he can do and disregarded the issue completely as if his time was being wasted.Wish it could have been handled differently.
We love this place! Staff are great. Bathrooms clean AND THE CALI BURRITO IS AWESOME!!! Staff said its good we must try, so we did! Large portions for a great price! Even tho its small its one.of tge best truck stops we hav been to. This place is like a mom n pop place just great!!!
This is a small TA but by far the best in the USA as far as service and professionalism. I had light issues on the trailer tonight and decided I’d stop in and see if they could take care of it. The guy and gal that took care of me in the morning of 10-15-18 were professional throughout and fixed the issue in a timely manner. It’s hard to find a shop with employees like this out here anymore and I just wanted TA to know that people like me appreciate that. TA has a lot of other places that need to get their act together like this one.
There were 2 guys at the counter who didnt know how to do much. I waited 4 hours to get an oil change then it took almost another 2 hours to settle up. My dog was going ballistic being stuck in the bay so long and when I asked (Dumb n Dumber) for the 3rd time if they had my invoice they started making fun of me and how much of a hurry I was in. The one kid barely lifted his head to stop texting (or whatever) on his phone....but they were really annoyed that I was ready to pay and leave after 6 hours of waiting.I run expedite, my truck was loaded and I had an early delivery scheduled the next day-- after driving 600 miles. Of course I wanted to park and sleep. The shop tech was awesome, though. If you guys could hire someone with customer service skills you might get more business.
There is a sign outside that says this truck stop has been here since 1956. It’s not set up quite like other TravelCenters of America, but it has everything you’d expect. I didn’t notice the row of truck parking on the other side of the CAT Scale until my second time here.
This place. Lets talk about THIS place. Throughout my time in a truck, licensed and not, one thing Ive rally missed had always been mom & pop country feel classic truck stops and restaurants. For me, this location is a first, as I try to stay more west of here. Its a TA, but without the typical Iron Skillet and the never changed iron skillet menu. Instead, theyve got whats called the Hub Room. A mellow lit, fairly quiet and rather comfy restaurant with some very polite waitress. The menu is not big, but different and more appealing. Classic rock plays on the store speakers. The bar is black granite with what looks like the original 70s black leather stools on chrome posts. There is a divided side apart from the bar, filled with booths, a soup and salad bar, and many Sunday old folk enjoying their after church brunch. Nothing but blue Jeans, working hands, and wonderfully comfortable people here. Its calming to say the least compared to other TAs or Petro stops. Sign hanging below the ceiling says First truck stop on the interstate. I believe it.How about the truck stop. Friendly staff greet you ever so politely from behind the counter. The store, not overly big, has the basics but is well laid out, making it easy to find what you need. It reminds you of what truck stops once were. Quiet, small, polite. Before walking in, you can see 2 shop bays. Come around the corner of the restaurant and I see someone restored a 1950s black and white police car with the original gumballs on top and the badge on the door. I couldnt get a picture, as he was just leaving the fuel pumps. Walk a little ways up, people are talking at the pumps. Theres a bench out front where 2 old men were sitting, laughing with each other. Drivers talking to each other for once in the truck stop. If TA or Petro derived from any grandfather truck stop, this surely must be it. Definitely a pleasing feeling. Well, my lasagna just come out, and looks amazing. If you ever get the chance to hang your hat here, you should come inside and take a gander at a classic, American Trucker feel that is now saved as one of my favorites. Yall enjoy your day, Im gonna enjoy my meal.
Walk west from TA about 1/4 mile across I75 to Azteca Mexican Restaurant and BAR! Its what you really want. Its very nice, clean, and updated. Margaritas are what every driver would exoect after a long days work. The food is fresh and good. ENJOY DRIVERS!TA review:This place is ok in a pinch for a trucker. Its about 120 parking spaces, ok restrooms, no country kitchen here guys. This place looks as if ownership is really not involved, doesnt care about the business, or simply cannot compete financially with nicer truck stops. I hope ownership can get out and look at some truck stops and observe how nice and fresh truck stops can be these days. This one needs a big make over. Lunch time is very slow here, when it should be buzzing with business. In all fairness too, I75 Construction does not help this place either. All said, this place is just really tired out
Yeah , i read the reviews an stopped.SHOULD HAVE SAVED MY MONEY...I guess the people that think this place is the best thing ever just havent tasted real food... Hog jowl bacon if you like that kind not GOODbacon ! Cooked to death, dry scrambled eggs , when there fresh , that stuff they call gravy--- rough... Poor folks ,must not know how to even cook if they call this GREAT FOOD....... MAYBE YALL NEED TO GO DOWN SOUTH .WELL SHOW YA HOW TO COOK.. Come back an slap ya cook... LolI wont give them anymore of my money, this is for real...
The food is absolutely horrible! I bought my wife 3 chicken soft tacos and it took two napkins to soak up all the water in the bottom of the container. The shells were so soggy just from the walk out to the truck that she couldnt even eat them. A total waste of my money. And another thing, for being the first truck stop in America they sure dont take care of it. TA should take their name off the door until they agree to do quite a bit of major remodeling/updating! STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO STOP!!
Rated #1 truck stop in the country (Trucker Path App) by truck drivers. Excellent diner, CA Burrito M-F, laundry, nice showers. Older place but nice. Is the very first interstate truck stop in the US. Extra parking across street. Lots of ready to heat diner food in coolers. I always stop here for the burrittos!
The people are nice here but definitely drops the rating when they tell you a 2hr wait in the shop and it ends up being 4 1/2hr. New guy in the shop but hes trying hard. Restaurant is awesome so that helps too... btw they give you 10.00 off in the restaurant for getting work done in the shop.
Shop service was awesome, very professional staff and mechanics will try to get you up & running has fast has possibleAnd very honest , the restaurant was very clean, service was great, I really dont stop a TA truck stops, but I do look forward to stop at this location, AGAIN.
My wife went to pay for gas and wanted to use the restroom and some guy kept following her around and tried to her his number so I walked her back In and she pointed him out to me , it was a nappy headed punk ass with a t and a shirt on.He is lucky she pulled me back out of there cause today might have been his real lucky day. Will never stop there again
Iv been here in the past awsome service friendly staff food is good also but when you need work near midnight dont expect a tech guy to be there I was told next tec guy would be there at midnight waited for an hour but he never showed just needed a quick oil change nothing else I was In a rush so i left. But over all nice place
This TA is very small and has limited items to chose from. The only food available is all unhealthy dairy items that are over priced. The produce is genetically modified as well. The restaurant is full of over priced food that is all processed for longer shelf life. If you eat anything from this TA... You would be better off eating poisen!
Do not let them change your wheel seal here. Shop is inadequate and incompetent. I am currently at a different t/a having a wheel seal replaced that this shop already worked on. Very disappointing. Especially considering how long I waited to be seen. And then it took them five hours to complete the job.
WARNING---BAD SHOP HERE IN WAPAKONETA, OHHad this single wide recap put on 5 days ago here at this T/A in Wapakoneta, OH. It was my only option as they did not have a virgin tire or a good used tire. I was broke down 3.2 miles away on Hwy 33.Took them 4 hrs, 3 techs and 2 different service trucks to get it done. Ridiculous right? I had a spare that was bit in good shape but it would hold air. (Isnt that why we carry these as spares?) Well the tech tore the bead on my spare while mounting it. So they gave me $50 off the cost of the recap. I wasnt too happy. But, I didnt have another choice. Total cost was $773. $500 for the recap and the rest was labor.2 days later. The cap came off in Belmont, OH on I-70 under load to Maryland. The T/A out of Valley Grove, WV took care of the repair with a virgin tire. But, because the Wapakoneta T/A is a franchise they couldnt do it under warranty! I was told that the Wapakoneta shop required me to return the carcass to them in order to get the cost of the tire refunded. They would not warranty the labor either way!I will say that the general workers here are great. Its the management that is lacking professionalism and morals.Do not patronize this place if you want to be treated fairly.
This is a great place to stop you would not believe all the food you get for the little bit of money and the best server they have here her name is Rebecca she been here for like 10 years I advise all truck drivers to stop in here and check it out you will not be ashamed I promise you that
I drive a truck for a living call there before I went to see if they had fish they did so I stopped there fish was overcooked tartar sauce was okay mashed potatoes wasnt mashed they were chunked stuffing was burnt very nasty lettuce was okay bad steak was way too expensive for a buffet $14 for a pop and the buffet will never stop there again
Road assistance with the waiting time way better ...The Worst tire service ever, I came to change my flat tire but they make me wait more than 3 hours for taking looking at the track and the I spend the 4 next hours waiting to get out of the shop, and finally I couldnt make my delivery to Dayton on time which is 49 miles from the TA shop
TA truck service here is really slow, been waiting over 1hr 40min to get in a bay for 1 airline hose to get replaced .the bay I waiting in front of is empty.so waited for 2h 30 min then told would not repair for another 45mins.it was one hose to be replaced.avoid this truck service it bad

2021-11-16Love that this still has that mom n pop feel especially for being a corporate truckstop. Food prices are still decent and portions are very adequate. They have dinner and breakfast buffets. And for being Yankees there sweet tea is good.

2022-07-18Since covid has slowed, it has been a great place to go and dine. The hub room has availability all the time. Never busy. Great food, great service, and my personal favorite-the big screen tv. Watch sports while eating. Great group of ladies serving and taking orders. Very relaxing atmosphere. I love going here.

2019-05-19Had a steak dinner last night and the chicken parmesan tonight , both meals were absolutely spectacular. Very clean and everyone busy doing something always. My server was new but she really did a great job of making me feel welcome and making sure I had everything.

2017-11-24Fantastic TA and it doesnt have a country pride but a family run restaurant instead, which is a nice change from the same food that is in country pride. The food portions are way too big in my opinion but the food itself is absolutely amazing. I ordered the lasagne and it was amazing but so much in the portion. My husband ordered chicken parmesan and he was very happy with his meal. The service staff we had was a very bright friendly person who is very helpful about what to order from the menu. We will be here for thanksgiving tomorrow also and we asked about a turkey dinner and we are delighted that they will indeed be serving a thanksgiving dinner. They are genuinely open 24/7 and 365 days a year which is great for people in the trucking industry like my husband and I. We are delighted to be spending a couple of nights at this truck stop! would highly recommend this place to anyone, trucker or not!!!!

2021-08-18Nice truck stop clean showers. I ordered a burrito from the burrito place and I was disappointed. The chicken and pork were so dried up I couldn’t eat it and had to throw it out . I couldn’t get a refund I didn’t have time to run back inside. The meat must have been in the container way too long!

2021-05-04The TA in Wapakoneta has got the California burrito bar back with good burritos and burrito bowls. The Hub restaurant has outstanding food and larger portions. The customer service is great. You are greeted coming and thanked for stopping by with a smile. If near this TA stop by and get some amazing food and service.
