My daughter worked here for a short period of time and was cleaning a room and got stuck with a needle, she told her trainer and all her trainer did was throw the needle in the trash, which is illegal, and when she went to the hospital about it they had to fill out workers comp papers and this hotel management denied them covering her getting further tests to make sure she didnt contract anything from it. They put her health at serious risk and did not care.
I stayed here for a couple of nights and my friend was cleaning a room and she got pricked by a needle, she told me about it and she said she told her trainer and co-workers about it and they just threw the needle away without proper caution and didnt tell her what to do after words. She was also being harassed by some other co-workers too. And not great service either.
How was my stay, you ask? I cant really answer that, because I didnt GET to stay!!! We booked a reservation through Hotel Planner the day of, everything is confirmed etc. We get there and the place is horrible, theres a sign that says Pools closed, no wifi for guests (who is the wifi for, in that case??). The clerk slowly makes her way up to the counter, asks for the name, then says she doesnt have it. We say we have the reservation number, she just says that wont help me. We ask if we can book another room, she goes were full without even looking. No one was in the parking lot or lobby, but sure. Youre full. She just leaves after that, and we hear her and her coworkers talking about how they wish they could get a keg of budlight. Our courtesy refund was denied by them as well. Courtesy refund... YOU DIDNT EVEN LET US STAY THERE. This place better be a front for a more lucrative business, otherwise I dont know how theyll stay in business. GO TO THE QUALITY INN ACROSS THE STREET, THEYRE VERY NICE, HAVE A POOL, AND THE WIFI ISNT JUST FOR THE ELDRITCH GODS APPARENTLY TAKING UP RESIDENCE IN THEIR EMPTY POOL WHILE THE EMPLOYEES DO BUDLIGHT KEGSTANDS. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY.
**I was told I would get a $22 credit, instead they are charging an extra $22. I called and she has no idea whats happening... DO NOT VISIT THIS HOTEL.** The pool was closed and they picked and chose who they discounted for the inconvenience. (We only came to this hotel so my daughter could go swimming) I was not one of them. Our room had stink bugs so we asked for another... that also had stink bugs. The lady who checked us in kept complaining she needed a break, a drink and a cigarette. When I talked to the other lady at check out she complained that nobody there other than her is competent. That shes worked by herself during busier times, no issue... My point was, neither should be complaining to a customer about them doing their job.. The rooms were shabby and not kept up. I am highly disappointed in the whole ordeal here and will not be returning. When I went to call the front desk I noticed the phone didnt even work. It was plugged in but looked partially taken apart and no lights or dial tone.
Pros:- Very nice staff. Nice management. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful.- Decent complimentary breakfast. Good amount of choices and coffee isn’t too bad at all.- Location is great - right by the highway. There is a McDonald’s right next door which is convenient along with a handful of other fast food joints.- Parking is easy and plentiful. The lot is well lit and all spots are easily visible unless your room is on the inner part of the building looking over the pool roof top.Cons:- No air conditioning in the lobby. Very hot and humid.- Elevator was simply gross. It was not cool, and wreaked of urine or something similar. Honestly the elevator was perhaps the worst thing about this hotel. I had to hold my breath when inside - almost made me gag.- The rooms are somewhat outdated and the furniture was beat up beyond what I would consider acceptable. Computer chair at desk had tattered upholstery. Mattresses were old and way past due to be replaced.- Air conditioning unit in room smelled mildewy whenever it would kick in. Needs cleaned undoubtedly.- Bath towels smelled foul and old. Not really clean smelling.- Toilet was not clean and actual had a brown streak in it (gross!)TLDR -The staff is great and they are doing the best they can, but don’t expect much from the quality of the rooms and amenities. The place is pretty worn out and needs some serious attention and improvement. I stay in hotels a decent amount. I’d probably avoid this place. If improvements/updates are made, it could be quite nice!
We arrived around 2:30 and were our rooms would not be ready until 3:00. Not a problem even though we had to be at a wedding at 4:00. Left to grab a bite to eat and returned to find out 5 of 7 housekeepers had called off and rooms would not be ready until after 5:00. We were offered to change in the board room which we did. However, it wasnt ideal. Room was clean enough. No hand soap in the bathroom and the place could use a little updating.
This hotel will do the job for a quick weekend trip. The hotel is dated but adequately clean and tidy. Nice location with quick access to plenty of restaurants and stores and convenient highway entry. Seemed to be short-staffed but everywhere seems to be right now. Stayed in a king size suite that was a bit small but was adequate for a short stay with younger children. Indoor pool is typical for a hotel or this size and kids were thrilled it was open. Grab and go breakfast had limited choices but was fine. Staff was helpful and felt safe in this location.
We have stayed at the Holiday Inn many times over the last 15 years. The room during our last stay was terrible. Felt dirty, one on the beds had a mattress that was about 6 thinner than the other bed. The desk chair was disgusting. This place needs a facelift. Breakfast was ok but pancake machine was broken.
This hotel was great! Jennifer who checked us in was great. Very friendly. We are on vacation and on our way back home I will be stopping by this place again. The breakfast was supper. The lady that put it all out was as sweet as could be.The pool was good. The beds were very soft got the best sleep Ive had in years.
Disgustingly dirty and stained carpet in the rooms. The mattresses are completely wore out, completely! The furniture is beat up and our non smoking room stinks like smoke. The toilet is loose from the floor and the sink is falling from the wall. The bathroom door wont latch and the view out the window of tarps all over the roof is about all I can say. We are staying with a large group, everyone shares the same thoughts. The manager is usually standing at the front door smoking if you need anything. You will need to get towels at the front desk as they still dont clean rooms and wont bring them to your door. The shower is new!Ashland is a very nice small town Id highly recommend any of the local pubs and breweries downtown.
First off, due to frequent work travel I am accustomed to many types of hotels and their variances in quality. Sometimes you get taken. I rarely ever complain, so here are the facts: Paid $160 for jacuzzi suite 406 which was $16 less than original price; smells like dog urine; furniture is either scratched up or has stains; desk chair is so worn there is no leather left on the seat and its peeling off onto your clothes if sat in; dust everywhere... up the wall you can see marks that appear like someone has tried to wet dust but made it worse and quit; dust in the jacuzzi itself; large stains on a tall floor lamp missing its lightbulb; holes in a lampshade on an end table; remote to tv didnt work(only a minor irritation); paint/wallpaper peeling in most corners and at the ceiling; a/c didnt work; crusty buildup on every water fixture including jacuzzi; poorly cleaned; dog hair throughout; frost in mini-fridges freezer; and I felt every bed spring and slept only a few hours until I couldnt take it anymore and slept in the stained up chair.
This was hands down the BEST hotel experience weve had in a very long time! The room was clean, everything was in good working condition, the staff was super friendly and helpful, the continental breakfast had a nice variety which even included eggs, bacon, and sausage. The lady, Brenda, was just the sweetest as well. The pool wasnt heated but was indoors and the arcade was so/so... but overall, great experience.
The ladies at the front desk were nice! I’m only giving one star because I was so mad that somebody that was cleaning my Room went through my bag and stole some cash from me! I didn’t notice until I left unfortunately but man! how are you gonna do that to people?? Be careful when you leave your personal stuff at this place, disappointed!
Just NO. The lobby was dirty , then the bathroom had hair on the floor. Room was generally filthy. We left. The woman behind the desk was extremely kind and responsive but I had to leave immediately. We went across the street to a much cleaner nicer newer hotel and were very pleased.
It was absolutely disgusting. Dead bugs lying all over lobby and rooms. Hair all over floor, and rooms smell like wet dog. There were crumbs in room and on bed. The front desk worker uses a whistle to quiet kids down. You can’t have any fun especially since the pool is “broken”. Also should add, there’s a cockroach sitting on the lobby table in the lounge area.
Fantastic breakfast included with your stay. Employee Linda did an excellent job making sure that everyone got what they wanted. Other staff members are courteous and friendly. Night manager Johnny made us feel welcome upon our late arrival and immediately volunteered to arrange a wake up call as I had an early meeting the next day.
Very comfortable, well-kept room. Have no complaints about any of the features. The continental breakfast is exactly what youd expect with a continental breakfast- its mediocre at best. Overall, its well worth what you pay for and provides a nice, quiet space for the duration of your stay.
Rooms are not well maintained. Staff at front desk does not pick up. I had to get two light bulbs replaced, the tv was broken and there was no remote, and toilet ran all night.Went to from desk for light bulbs, tv and remote. They fixed the tv and replaced the bulbs. The remote had broken buttons and was replaced the next day.Night staff bashed day staff about being derelict.
Had a great stay!..my family and I only eneded up booking a room for a couple days but during that time. I enjoyed the Breakfast bar. Room was clean. Needed extra towels and this Black employee helped me. She didnt have a name tag. But held a great conversation and made sure we had everything. So we really appreciate the help. We definitely will book again!
Overall, our stay was enjoyable except last night my wife found a couple items behind the night stands that completely grossed her out. Front desk person had to personally come to our room and remove the items with a pair of plastic gloves. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Planning to come back to the area in February and debating whether I will stay at this location.
Had a very nice stay. Rooms were very clean (slight musty odor near the air conditioner). Many choices at the breakfast and the food wasgood. Front desk staff (Katherine) was exceptionally helpful with everything and gave us helpful ideas of things to see and how to get there. There was also an abundance of pillows on each bed and a mixture of soft and firm to accommodate everyones favorite. Would stay here again.
Stayed here for softball toyrnament. Will not stay here again. The weeds around hotel almost look like small trees. The hotel was dirty smelled really bad like wet dog. Hair on floor in bathroom fridge in room wouldnt get cold plugs in room to plug phone in would not work. Bed has seen better days and hand prints above headboard. Ive stayed in alot of these because of traveling with softball but this was terrible. I asked for a receipt when left they couldnt give me one.???? Staff not friendly at all.
I have stayed at 100s of hotels in my travels and this is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Totally outdated and worn out! Rooms and just thrown together not CLEAN, absolutely disgusting! I am actually blown away that this is an operational hotel. Holiday inn should be embarrassed. I am giving you a warning save your time and money and drive a little further to stay elsewhere.
The hotel was quite nice, down the road from a wetland preserve and adjacent to a few places to grab a bite. The complementary breakfast was really solid, too. The best part, though, has to be the staff. They were amazingly kind and helpful, and saved my bacon when I realized I had forgotten my shaving supplies.
One of the worst HIE experiences. The overnight front desk employee was incapable of handling the domestic dispute on our floor. Screaming for over two hours between 2-5am. When I told the front desk about it this morning, she had no idea. How was this incident not documented?!When checking in and seeing my name listed as a Spire Elite member on the board, I felt valued for my loyalty to the IHG brand. After last night, not so much. The situation was not handled properly, if at all. Very disappointing!
This hotel has a very welcoming staff who are very helpful . You are greeted with a smile and when you get to your room it is very clean and fresh! Their rates are very reasonable and comparable to most of the nice hotels out there. Overall, my experience was very good and recommend it to everyone.
Stayed for two weeks for business. Had to get key card re-scanned around 6 times to get into room because they would just stop working. The Walls are thin so I could hear full blown conversations next door and noise from upstairs. They had plumbing problems one day. I stay at many hotel for work. Theyre usually nicer ones. This one looks fairly nice but I had way too many issues to consider them on par. Happy to leave..
The guests in the room above us were loud, both nights of our stay. We called the front desk NUMEROUS times. The noise continued until just after 2am. The staff member working the front desk acted as if there was nothing else that could be done. We had to be up early the following morning for an event, and got very little sleep because of the ongoing noise above us. At checkout, all they offered us was extra reward points. Next time, we will stay elsewhere.
Couldnt find our reservation even with my confirmation...after about 15 min realized they used my middle name for my last name. Room was not cleaned, bed cover looked made but sheets were slept in and not changed ulgh! Shower head was green...at 7pm only one woman running the desk and brought us new sheets, I helped make the bed because we were already unpacked and hubby was in shower. Bathroom was visibly clean. NEVER have I experienced this at a Holiday Inn. Pool was not available due to broken filter and this place was rated 5* and a 9 for cleanliness! Feeling let down
Seriously I have never been in a hotel before with such poor service. When we got there it was very clean set up nice. We stayed for 2 days. First night was fine. The housekeeping came. But we were still getting dressed and all. Told her come back in an hour. So we left a few minutes later. We came back that evening and we go into our room and it was the same as we left it. Really? No clean towels nothing! Called the office, well the housekeeper only works certain hours you. Should have asked for towels. Are you kidding me? She should have told us that and offered us towels. So manager said she was busy come get some towels. We are both handicap. Really thats how you treat people? Wow. So we decided to forget it. Get into bed and laying there and we here a frog in our room. So i called the office and they acted like we were crazy said we could switch rooms. Are you serious? We are in our night clothes and we would have to pack up and load up and unload. We are HANDICAPPED. OMG dont stay at this place!!
The cleaning lady stole electronics from my room valued at $200. The hotel Manager Jennifer was horrible to work with on this. Her resolution to the situation was to send me the check-in document, to which she stated she is not responsible for cleaning staff stealing or any stolen property - disclaimer at the bottom of the paper. She said she really didnt care and wouldnt do anything about it. See attached image with yellow star she highlighted. Totally unacceptable. IHG is also very disappointed about this hotel.
I am an IHG Spire Elite member. I am so disappointed by Management and staff at this Holiday Inn.First, the complimentary breakfast is a bogus here. After few guest enjoyed the breakfast, the milk, juices and few other items were empty by 8.00 am. When reported to the staff, they blamed the Management and Management was not available to help. Nothing was done to improve the situation even on the second day.Secondly, I had booked 3 rooms, where one of the room was paid with the IHG points. Due to difference in points, I had to book it separately. When I came to the hotel, I was told the room assigned to me will automatically be assigned for the second day. I was so disappointed because my room keys wouldnt work when I came in late to the hotel on the second night. When I came to the registration desk, they wanted me to provide them the credit card, id cards to register it again. They had all the information in the system to register without the inconvenience.Thirdly, at the end of the stay, I had asked for an check-out extension for an hour which was out-rightly denied without even checking the system. The Management and staff here is rude, arrogant, not flexible and not fit to run this fine brand of Holiday Inn.
I will never stay here again! The front desk didnt do what I asked and was unable to cure the problem once it was done. The bed in the room looked like a banana , the mattress was completely worn out and the carpet was very dirty. The pool was cloudy and you couldnt see the bottom. Very uncomfortable, and I did stay a a Holiday Inn express last night!
We come into Ashland several times a year to visit family. I am an IHG member and have stayed at properties all over the country. This might be one of the worst. The suite we ordered had a broken knob that made it unusable. We basically had to beg for towels and soap. The front desk people are super friendly and tried to do their best to make things ok, but travelling with 5 people is hard enough. Maybe look across the street to a different hotel. Yes, I still have one more night here
I didnt stay in a room, but it was a very nice place and was set up for a Cosplay Convention. The location was nice because there was a lot near it, such as restaurants, Movie Theatres, and so on. I didnt have any problems with any services either. Definitely a nice place to stay
Hotel was clean and staff was nice. Good location for interstate travelers, as it is close to interstate and restaurants and gas station are close by. Breakfast selection was less than normal Holiday Inn Express, but that may have been because a college baseball team was staying at facility. I would definitely stay at this location again if I were in the area.
Tried to get info about renting a banquet room for my wedding reception this fall, over the course of 3 months...contacted the event coordinator Jennifer S. NUMEROUS times and left SEVERAL messages for her. I never once received a call back from her...I then drove to ashland to hopefully meet with her in person not once but TWO times from Mansfield, and she had just left for the day and was on a leave of absence the 2nd time...I left my name at the front desk with 2 separate women and was told they would relay my mesage.....thankfully the Janitor of the hotel was nice enough to show me the banquet rooms before he left for the afternoon.....they were not what I was looking for.....I dont recommend planni,g events at a place that cant even respond to a simple phone call....horrible customer service. I took my business elsewhere.
The walk in area was clean. The front desk only had one staff member workin, and a line of people. I was there for a meeting and there was no welcome sign for us or a sign up pointing in the direction of the room..we had to wait awhile just to ask the girl at the desk.
I visited the Holiday Inn Express and Ashland Suites to fill out applications smelled wonderful as soon as you walk through the door the aroma of cleanliness and maybe even a floral scent just fill the air and it was just magnificent everything was clean the front desk clerk seemed very nice and helpful

2022-05-01This hotel was a second thought after I went to my first choice and it turned out to be a dive. So I decided if I’m going to spend a little bit more money I’m going to enjoy the amenities of the room. I made sure that I had a jet tub to help my sore muscles after a long drive. I wasn’t very pleased with the fact that there was no masking going on and I was told that it’s everybody’s right to choose their own protection. I wonder if that also applies to the mold that was in the bathroom because all they needed was a little bit of bleach on the caulking to minimize the black mold that was sitting on it. I was also advised that I was lucky to be staying there because all the other hotels in the area were severely dated and never upgraded. But then added to this was that this hotel was also dated. An example of it being dated was the worn out chairs and headboards, the scratched furniture, the mold on the caulking in the bathroom, the severely caulked toilet base, and the run down parking lot. Was it worth what I spent? I got to tell you I slept pretty well even though the bed was a little lumpy. The sheets were soft and cool and having that soaking tub was amazing. Hopefully I won’t get anything from this place being dated but it was a welcome relief compared to some of the other places in town

2022-06-24Someone said it best, this seems to be a hotel in transition. The hotel is very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. You almost feel like you’re staying with family. With a special shout-out to the morning crew. 👍Aside from that, the WI-FI was not working, the elevator was not working, the pool and Rec. room were closed, and it felt like the Air Conditioning in the public areas was not working. If you’re looking for a room at a very reasonable price, and the unavailability amenities are not an issue for you, then I would recommend this hotel.

2022-06-04If I could put a lower rating I would. This hotel absolutely sucks. Staying with a friend for her graduation here and it’s terrible. The pool is closed, as apparently it has been for months now(read more reviews, you’ll see), the roof is coming down in the arcade room and the games suck. The furniture is so worn that it feels illegal to use them. They only give you enough towels for maybe one person so if you need more…good luck. Service is terrible and this place obviously needs new management because whoever is here now needs fired.

2022-05-18Pool was closed because the ceiling was falling in after it rained. The pool was the biggest reason I booked this hotel and not a cheaper one nearby. No signage outside or on the hotel, only way I knew I was there was the GPS. The cable went in and out constantly while trying to watch TV. The shower head felt like a pressure washer. And the worst part of the entire stay, NO HOT WATER! It barely got warm for about a minute of use after waiting 5 or so minutes at a time. Had a room with a nice jacuzzi tub but couldnt even use it because the water was so cold. Not worth the money I paid. Should be about half the price it is because whoever owns it has not put any money into upkeep or repairs. Looks like it would have been a nice hotel when it was newer...

2022-06-18The pool and the elevator or out of order. But other than that it was a nice stay. The rooms are very very clean and nice. Unfortunately no refrigerator in the room. But other than that, it was a very pleasant stay.

2022-06-26Sad. Just plain sad. This property is in poor condition. Heres just a small list of problems.- no public Wi-Fi (broken)- no hot water. Only luke warm at best.- pool under repair (doesnt look like they are working on it.- broken elevator (may not be their fault as it was heavily vandalized by a drunk)- water leaks (some rooms had wet carpets)- worn furnishings in room and public areas.A refurbishment is sorely needed.Continental breakfast is decent.Staff is friendly.

2022-05-14I hate to even leave a review but we had so many people come down for a cheer competition and when we get there they tell us the pool is closed due to roof collapsing (understandable) but most people were looking forward to that and no notification was given. They did tell us they had a game room. Once we got there the change machine was out of order rhe ceilingwas collapsing in there and the claw machine wouldnt move side to side.. and we had to switch rooms due to the wall separated from The ceiling due to past leaks. It was about 80 in the whole hotel except the rooms did have air. No one had any hot water at all. I did ask for a Corp number but got a whole reasoning of why the hotel was in the condition it was. Very disappointing for the price we paid for one night.

2022-05-16Positive: Location Negative: Pool was closed. The breakfast bar was so so and they took cereal away and it was only 8am. There was pancake syrup but nothing to use it for. The chair in my room had leather obviously ripped off. Whirlpool tub not working.

2022-06-27No hot water, Elevators, ice machine, pool, ac in building and wifi out of order. Ants in bathroom, chair looked like from yard sale, tarps over holes in roof, parking lot couldnt see where to park. Worst hotel I could stay in if I could leave negative stars I would.

2022-06-21Positive: It was clean. Negative: We were forced to walk up 4 flights of stairs. No elevator. Our reservation was nonrefundable and no other rooms available. The room was in disrepair.
