There are a lot of reviews stating that they take too long but my experience here was actually great. We were only there for about 30 to 45 minutes before they were able to take my pup in. I dont think they serve on a first come first serve basis but what level of emergency the pet may be in, so that may be why it didnt take them long for us, as my pup had gotten into some cocoa powder, which is a very time sensitive issue to take care of. I may have also just been there at a less busier time than usual. Either way, they took great care of my Madelin and she hasnt shown any signs of toxic poisoning so Im happy to have taken her here. Would come back in the future if ever needed!
Took our dog in because he wasnt acting right. Before I knew they called me while I was waiting in the parking lot since they dont let the owners come in with the pet and they said his heart wasnt working properly and gave me two options pay 3000.00 to have him further tested or put him down because he was in critical shape. I made the decision to have them put him down since he was 14 years old. I asked them if we could say good bye as my children all showed up and they said no at first. But then decided to let us all go in. When we went in to see him he was fine waging his tail and wanting to go home. So we took him home and took him to our vet the next day.Our Vet looked at the x-rays done at Stark County Veterinary emergency and did other tests that came back good and here to come find out our dog has very bad arthritis and once he started pain meds he is back to be a happy healthy dog.Never once did the vet come in and talk with us only over the phone???? I will never take another pet there again. And let others know what happened.
DO NOT bring your beloved pet here for his/her critical care needs. First and foremost, we called this place prior to even leaving our house and they did not disclose any time frame expectations. When we got there we explained what was going on with our dog, and they said it would be 2 to 3 hours before bringing our dog in.4 hours later, only after going in and demanding for him to be seen, did they bring him in their clinic. They explained that he was listed with a paw injury, which he absolutely does not have.1 hour later, we called and they said the doctor has not even looked at our dog yet. We went in to get him back since they obviously didn’t have an interest in making sure our very sick and in pain dog is okay, and were told we were “breaking the law for being in their facility, especially with no masks on” and if we did not leave, they would call the police.I can not emphasize enough how awful this place is. Never again.
We called three area emergency clinics which were all closed to any more pets for the evening, even though we had a very sick puppy. Stark said it would be 3-4 hours, so we went. The phone receptionist was sweet. The young woman who came and got our puppy was, too. Dr. Tara Calcel spoke to us several times, keeping us up to date on what was happening and what the costs would be. In three hours, our puppy was examined, sedated, had a foreign object removed, and was sent home with meds and an offer for us to call if we needed to, very much appreciated on this holiday weekend when so many vets and clinics are off on Monday. The receptionist who brought our puppy out was so personal and thoughtful. People on this page who are complaining about the covid procedures clearly have not been to other clinics this year, as we have. These are national vet protocols for everyones safety.
I was unable to get my dog into my Vet for 3 days. They said if her condition worsened, I should take her to the Emergency Vet. By morning I was on my way there. I was in & out within 2 hours. Everyone was exceptionally nice! The vet was so thorough and my dog came home with instructions and medications.
Had an great experience for a scary situation with our English bulldog. They helped us and our baby. Didn’t over charge us explained everything and told us if we needed anything to call day or night, until we can see our normal vet in a few days. Excellent experience.
I took my 8 year old cat, Winter, in after she had choked while eating her food. She also has some pre-existing conditions that are an added cause for concern. We were there for about 3 1/2 hours or so before being sent home with necessary medicines and their administration instructions. After all the x-rays, tests, and all it came to a fairly reasonable cost—as far as emergency vet bills go, anyway. The staff were all very polite and handled Winter with care. Not being able to go into the clinic wasn’t ideal for my own sense of comfort (and I’m sure for Winter’s, as well), but I felt more at ease with each update being given over the phone.I won’t lie, I was nervous about coming here due to the poor reviews about excessively long wait times/rude staff/pets being put down unnecessarily/etc., but I wanted to write this review for the folks who are going through the same dilemma and throw my positive review into the ring.
If I could give negative stars on this place I would. Forced to take my dog here on a Sunday, since they were only vet’s open. After sitting in car almost three hours, we were given a diagnosis that even I, untrained as I am, knew was wrong. Wrong diagnosis and over $400. Took my dog to our own vet the next day and within minutes had the correct diagnosis and didn’t spend anywhere near $400. This place may do a great job of euthanasia, but in my opinion, that’s all they should do
Would give 0 stars if I could. My friend brought a dog who was hit by a car on the side of the road. The FIRST thing they asked for was $1,200 without hospitalization ,, They didn’t do scans or anything to try to save this dog. The didn’t do an emergency X-ray on him. After my friend told them that it’s a stray dog , they still asked for them to pay. Not rushing to save him or anything. They put this dog down within 2 min max of having him. It’s sad because if he was a missing dog the owner may never know because they didn’t even try to save him. Completely heartbreaking. Do not recommend. Absolute bull.
Went there with my dog for redness and swelling was told he had a large abscess and was sent home with medications and no care instructions and next to no information on his visit. It burst several hours later causing a lot of blood, a gaping hole, and a lot of pain to my dog. When I called them I was told that they should have drained and cleaned it while he was there and still given NO instructions on how to further care for him or his wound on top of it being mentioned that it was odd they didn’t drain and clean the area before sending him home. I am furious. Upon looking further into it because google has given more answers and information than that vet whose JOB it was, yes they should have drained it and cleaned it. Sending him home to let it rupture was dangerous and beyond negligent. My dog is still at risk of further infection because of this and his gaping wound is still leaking profusely. I can only hope a better vet can fix the damages left. Never in my life will I be taking another animal here.
Took my cat in due to dropping blood. I thought a possible uti, but was actually a blocked bladder. Took the option of hospitalizing him for two days, which was veryyy expensive. However, the staff was super friendly and allowed me to call and check on him. Every time I called, they were very nice and gave updates. They even kept him an extra night with nap additional charge because they wanted to make sure his urine was clear, which I was grateful for them caring instead of rushing him out because they were super busy. Only complaint is not being able to see the bill prior to being charged (maybe I could have if I asked?) as well as the overall cost, but they did a good job.
It’s absolutely ridiculous to still be playing the Covid game and not see patients face to face. I rely heavily on reading lips and facial ques to understand what’s being said to me.I missed the call from the Vet explaining the diagnosis and aftercare. I am hard of hearing so I called back to clarify. The snotty receptionist said, “Well didn’t the Dr leave a voicemail explaining what you should do?”When I went to my own Vet later that day he met me in person, face to face, (like normal people do) and couldn’t believe they released our dog without antibiotics for an obvious case of kennel cough.Avoid this place if you can. The only reason to go here is because there isn’t any other options in this area for an emergency visit.
The worst possible place you could take a pet for emergency!!! Do you want to get robbed here’s the place to go. You will sit in the parking lot 4-5 hours with no communication. No updates on pets condition. They get your pet in there and it’s like they have it in prison. If you call for information they are rude and want you to leave them alone. This is so they can run your bill up. Bring plenty of cash because they will take all of it. Our bill was $1185 vet said she couldn’t figure out what was wrong. She was Brilliant. Was she really a vet or a part timer ?Didnt give our harness back they said “can you come tomorrow to get it? Real Quality service. How do they stay in business Shoud be called Stark County Catastrophy Clinic!!!
We will not be bringing our dog back. I’ll drive 45 min to Green and take him to VCA before I come here again. They seem to prioritize by how much money the person will be paying, rather than level of emergency or who was waiting the longest. So glad he had a minor laceration and not something that needed immediate care. I should have listened to the reviews.
You really need to open backup so the public can come in with their pets. Its absolutely ridiculous. I watched 4 different families crying and console each other in the parking lot surrounded by strangers and rush hour traffic while their dogs clung to life inside. Also, I paid $365 for x-rays because you werent sure if my girl had a break or just a wound. She had an open wound on her foot that you just noticed while giving her xrays. Didnt you look her over good before jumping right in to the money making machines? Shouldnt you have seen that first and knew that was the source of the swelling?Yet another reason we need to be allowed to come inside. You had her in there for 4 hours. Did you even look at her? Or did she just sit in a room by herself? I have no way to know any of what you did, but I paid for it.....And you sent me home with pain pills for an infection. Not antibiotics? Im not a Dr...but...?
This place is ok. Good things were that one of the vets on the phone was nice and explained everything to us. And they seemed like they cared. But few things that were disappointing when not busy was that we waited in our car for 3 hours. They don’t let you inside with your pet! Also vet walked out with my dog, we had a question about the appointment and she had no clue what was going on. And couldn’t answer the question about my dog, wasn’t pleased.
I am so grateful for the critical care our English bulldog received, he was truly struggling to breathe and they saved his life. He has phemonia so they took care of him, he stayed in the hospital and then came home with three medicines. The receptionists were kind and would give updates when I called. The two doctors explained things to me, and answered questions.
Worst experience.I first want to say I DO NOT have a problem with the medical care given directly by the veterinarian BUT I have a massive problem with the organization and education given to family members from staff. We were told to come at 930p to pick up our sick dog and bring them home. We began to get concerned when we didnt see or hear from anyone till closer to 11p if there was an issue/slow down it would be nice to call and give us an update after waiting over an hour in the parking lot. When we did see someone we had questions about our dogs care and what to expect after having them in the hospital for two days. When the vet tech finally brought them out they set our dog in the car handed us a bag of medicine we knew nothing about and left us. We had to call back within 15 minutes to try to get any kind of information from the receptionist because our dog was peeing in the car and we were concerned. It was not explained to us that this might happen due to I.V fluids. I was not given clarity on care and what to expect after there stay, nothing was explained to us after we picked up our dog and for that reason, I would highly recommend going elsewhere if there is an option. As a patient, I want to feel confident in my knowledge and education on the medical care of my loved ones and I left feeling very ill informed and still had a lot of questions. When you are spending hundreds if not thousands in medical care that comes with expectations. The vet techs/nurses should be educated in the skills needed to interact well with a family member and should take the time to explain the care needed for the animal when being discharged. Staff should be educated to simply ask if the family has any questions before running back to the door. I hope this clinic takes the time to provide continued education to there staff on these points. As for me I pray I never have to come back.
My cat had not been eating and barely drinking so I rushed her here only for them to want 2000 up front and that was just only to check out what was wrong with her. The price would’ve been fine if I was allowed to make payments but they don’t take monthly payments despite being a emergency vet so I obviously couldn’t afford it and now I’m sitting with a dying pet. I understand that it’s Covid but at least let us make monthly paymentsAn update: my coco had passed when I took her to another emergency vet in Salem and those people were incredible and let us know that she was far too gone and knew that if they gave her fluids it would just make her suffer more. And all that dr had to do was do a physical exam on coco while this place tried to get money before relaying the bad news to us. This place only wants money even if it means forcing your animal to live in suffering
The staff here is amazing, brought my dog in for pain in her back/ hind legs. They came out within 10minutes to triage her to make sure she was not life threatening. Wait time was long but I come to expect that with an emergency vet. Waited about 1 1/2 hours for them come get her, then another 1 1/2 hours for doctor to call with an update on her. Then another 30 hour to get the call on the bill and get her back. The doctor was very thorough and super nice and considerate on the phone. The price was reasonable for an emergency vet, but would rather pay that then have to wait with a dog in pain and Hope to get into the regular vet and have to take time off work. I only give the 4 star rating because I had to wait in the car that long and was not able to go in with my pet. I would defiantly recommend them if you need an emergency vet, would like them to at least let you go in with your pet this is a tense time for both the pet and owner. Thank you guys for everything you do!!!
My normal veterinarian would not see me because they were short staffed, so I took my dog here with vomiting/diarrhea symptoms. It’s similar to a human hospital and critical cases take priority. Even so, we only waited about 2 hours compared to other emergency vets that I called that had 6-8 hour waits. The lobby was closed due to covid so we waited in the car. They called me to explain what they would be doing and let me know the price before they did anything. The staff that greeted me outside, the secretary that discussed billing, and the veterinarian were very caring. My dog is usually nervous around vets but did amazing with them. If we have another urgent care situation, I will be returning here. If you have an emergency case, expect emergency prices!
Took my kitten here cause he had a hard time walking. Was told doctor would see him in a hour.3 hours later nothing. Called and was told it would be another half hour. And that I should’ve never been told a hour cause it was a 6 hour wait. They finally call just to tell me they don’t know what’s wrong and if I wanted further testing I’d have to pay $831. All they did was weigh him. Take his temp. And test his sugar. Which I explained I couldn’t unless on a payment plan I got told they don’t do those. So I brought my kitten home. They told me I had to pay $90 when I picked him up. When I said I didn’t have it they had me signing a paper for a payment plan. Logical right?I went to make a payment of 40 dollars and instead they charged me the $90.Do not go here unless absolutely necessary. Like last resort.Thankfully my kitten was fine the next day and is a normal happy kitten now no thanks to them.
This place has to be the biggest joke a facility in Stark County. Took a cat with an injured paw here and they want $950 to even look into it. Cost $100 to even bring him in. So we went somewhere else the next day and had his paw fixed AND got neutered for $430. These people who work at this emergency vet should be ashamed of themselves. They have absolutely 0 care for animals. All this place cares about it money and they have absolutely no compassion for animals. Please never go here ANYONE WHO READS THIS wait and go somewhere else call ANYWHERE else.
Not sure if emergency pertains to this place. I have been here for an hour and a half and they still have not seen my dog who is listless and clearly very sick. Apparently this is going to be an all nighter. After 5 1/2 hours still didnt know anything so I took the dog and left. 40 minutes later they called me with test results. $1000.00 dollars later I finally got some results. I get that this place is busy but I feel that it is severely under staffed. I would advise you find another facility unless it is absolutely necessary.
Vets gave accurate diagnosis, treated our dog with care and the treatment protocol worked very well. He was given a 70% chance of surviving and fortunately all worked out and we picked him up today. It was indeed costly - but this is an ER facility and I understand they are going to be a premium price. I was most pleased by the fact that the staff was always very friendly and helpful when we called for updates (he was there 3 nights) and there were no surprise extra charges - everything was as they disclosed to us. I would recommend them as I found them to be caring and trustworthy. Obviously we had a happy outcome with our dog but I would say the same if we had a different outcome.
They were amazing and saved my cat. I cannot believe the amount of negative reviews on this place.I rushed my cat here on a Friday for sudden labored breathing after my regular vet could not get her in. I called on my way there crying because I was sure my cat wasnt going to make it and the woman was beyond kind and patient. They took her right in when i got there and she was in bad shape. I honestly did not think she was going to make it. They did a complete work up on my cat and had her stable enough to go home the next day with meds.Did it cost a lot? Yes. They did a ton of tests, xrays, oxygen, fluids ect. Just like us humans pay more to go to the ER its the same for pets.Do not let all the negative reviews from people who do not have a realistic expectation of what emergency medicine cost keep you from taking your pet here for an emergency. Will you have to wait- probably they were super busy each time I went. Is it going to be more expensive than your regular vet-yes its an emergency hospital.Everyone was kind, compassionate and professional. I will not hesitate to go back if I ever have another emergency.Thank you all from me and Bean
I called to have my pei looked at & was told it was a 2 hour wait. Ok fine….so I go right there & all of a sudden it’s a 4 hour wait….are you freaking kidding me?????!!! It’s an emergency & I don’t have 4 hours to wait in my car with my dog who’s already not feeling good & stressed out. What a joke these people are. Unbelievable
I waited 2.5 hours for my dog to be seen. Animals came out, animals went in. None were my dog. I called on my way home to state that I wouldnt be waiting any longer and was placed on hold for 6.25 minutes. I asked for the name of the office manager which I will be calling. I could get better service at a human Stat care. My dog is in pain and will have to be like this until I reach my normal vet on Monday. My dog may not be human. He still has feelings and his care is as important as a human child. Never again!!
Was given a 1-2 hour wait time. But more likely 1 hour- per guy on phone. After 2 1/2 hours, I called and asked what was going on..... they said I was next. However they then took another 5 dogs who arrived after me because they could have something serious.. When does it become the persons turn whos been waiting for 3 hours to have their animal looked at?!When does the amount of time someone has waited ever come into play??? Apparently there is no quick care section vs an emergency section only, so they could turn over volumes faster. And when tech finally did come out to get my dog it was going to be at least 1-2 more hours of her waiting in a crate before the the vet who was on could even get to her! Total waste of my time. I would not recommend this place for anything
Took the dog to the this place as we believed he had swallowed something sharp. Hard breathing and whimpering. When we arrived they asked if he could breathe now and would be out shortly. After an hour of waiting to be checked in, we called to see what the issue was. They told us it would be 3 to 4 hours before they could bring in the dog. The triage in the clinic is poor. I will never go back to this clinic again if it can be avoided.
Took our 13 year old Tabby to see these folks after she suddenly became ill. Her symptoms were very shallow breathing and she kept opening and closing her mouth to breathe. After arriving, she was taken in on a Triage basis, however I was told over the phone that it would be at least 2 hours before her x-rays and lab work were completed as there was one animal ahead of her. When I received the phone call of her diagnosis, she was diagnosed with pulmonary edema, and congestive heart failure, after paying 800.00 up front for the x-ray and lab work. The vet then told me that she had to be put on oxygen as she was turning blue and they were unable to do the labwork. The vet then recommended she stay overnight, and that she wanted to run a CT scan, along with other labwork after delivering a terminal diagnosis, confirmed by the results of the x-rays.When I objected to the further testing, which would have put my beloved cat thru further trauma of not being at home or around people she knew with these tests, I was told to not take an attitude. Having buried my father previously this year and now being faced with every pet lovers worst nightmare, I kindly explained that because of the terminal diagnosis, there was no need to continue with further testing.I elected to let my beloved cat spend her remaining days in the comfort of our own home, and took her to our normal vet the following day, who offered an alternative to euthanasia in the hopes to combat my cats illnesses. Unfortunately 3 days later my wife and I had to put her to sleep as she was no longer eating or drinking.Id like to say that first off, a bit of compassion should have been expressed by this facility. None of that was present. Secondly, the cost of the X-Ray at 800.00 was 3x that what my normal vet charged at 300.00 for our other cat.The amount of poor reviews of this place are a direct reflection on how this place operates, and I will refuse to take my pets here after my experience with their staff. Its obvious that they dont care, overcharge for the same procedures your normal vet can do for a fraction of the cost, and as an Emergency Clinic, its absolutely criminal how they can get away with it. This place seems to only care about one thing.Praying on the emotions of pet lovers while trying to get more money out of them even after giving a terminal diagnosis of the pets condition knowing very well that the additional tests will not save the pet. This place needs to be reported and shut down immediately!DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!Take them to the clinic in Green, who has a caring staff, and has compassion for what we go thru when we cannot help our loved ones.Someone needs to shut this place down permanently.
This is an emergency clinic and they are extremely slow here. We have been sitting and waiting outside for over a half hour to be seen with noone coming out to check our dog. Now 2 hours plus and Ive had to v a lot multiple times to check on my dog. Was told over 45 minutes ago that they were cleaning her wound and getting her meds ready. So ridiculous when you cant even be in with your dog or use the restroom here. Never again
SCVEC lovingly helped us say goodbye to our sweet Maggie. She was our faithful loving little furry friend who was a courageous protector of us for 8 yrs. SCVEC staff helped us set up video chat so my son, Jim, who was her first owner for her first three yrs, could say goodbye, gave us every option and explained all costs. We listened to them intently and we knew putting her to sleep with no further pain was the best option for her. I never expected the costs would be low, because this was an emergency clinic/hospital. When I was given the cost, I thought it was fair. We received the most compassion ever from this facility! I highly recommend them!
I found a kitten today. On the side of the road, she was bleeding and I call them they were great right off. Told me what I could do with the kitten, or if I wanted to take responsibility for the bill. I took responsibility for the kitten. And they explained everything to me on what they could do for her. And they gave me a breakdown in prices. I think this was the first time I have taken my pet to any vet and did not have a surprise when I got the bill. Thank you guys for everything. Black kitten is home sleeping peacefully.
I had the unfortunate need of the clinics services Friday night . Our 13 yrs old cocker spaniel had gotten a treat lodged in its throat and was choking and having difficulty in breathing. I rushed him to the facility and was received promptly and expeditiously. The staff person who came out to evaluate him (Morgan) was professional and fast acting. Probably saved my dogs life. The vet (Dr. Heidi) treated him quickly and professionally. Their professionalism and charges were more than expected and very fair. Thank you all for your efforts and working on the holiday weekend.
Our dog was having seizures Friday evening . We were terrified and confused what to do. I called in to see what we could do and the woman who answered the phone was wonderful. She stayed very calm while giving us great advice. She was also very empathetic without being rude and pushy like other vets had been. By morning we decided to bring him in. The young woman who took our dog back was very gentle and patient with him. They kept calling us to update us on his situation since due to covid we were to wait outside. When given our options, they were very neutral and empathetic while answering our questions. They helped to put us at ease through all of our anxiety. The young woman was very sweet in letting us say goodbye to our dog. She has a beautiful and sweet soul. We were very impressed with your staff Friday morning. Thank you for everything. 💜
I first went to Metro when My dog was sick this week. Waited in my car for 8 hours and she was still never seen. Went to Stark ER and they triaged her and had labs drawn up within 2 short hours. She had to have and emergency gallbladder removal. Stark ER referred us to Medvet. Stark ER took amazing care of Tilly while she was there for 24 hours. And I cant thank them enough for the care and finding out what was wrong with my Dog.
I had taken my young dog to be euthanized due to severe cluster seizures and I felt I had no other option due to the fact I had spent $450 the day before at my pets regular vet. It was a difficult time because with the Covid19 precautions, I would not be able to be with my pet and it also made communication with the staff challenging. To make a long story short, my pet is still with me because the Dr was able to work with me to get the costs of a 2 night stay and high level treatment down to a level I could afford. I was well informed of the rewards and possible risks of treatment for my pet. All turned out well for my pet. She did not suffer any long lasting effects from her seizures (20 known seizures in a 40 hour period) and is a happy, healthy dog and has remained seizure free since her treatment 2 months ago. She would not be here if it had not been for Stark Veterinary Emergency care.Everyone was kind and compassionate. Anytime I called for updates on her condition, I was thoroughly informed and treated well by the staff.
My daughter took one of our outdoor cats to the Stark county emergency vet . Giant mistake. The cat sounded stuffed up with cold like symptoms. I would have waited till my regular vet opened on Monday but she took the cat on a Saturday when I wasnt home. If you dont have a pile of cash you can spare then go somewhere else. The cat had a $800.00 upper respiratory infection aka as a cold. They wanted to keep the cat overnight for another 700.00 for a grand total of 1,500.00!!! I got on the phone with the vet and said NO to overnight. He told me the X Ray maybe showed some pneumonia but he was not sure. There was no pneumonia period. They did X-ray and blood work and it was $800.00. The cat was there 2 hrs. Total rip off.
Where do I start. Stark county ER vet doesn’t even deserve 1 star. If I could have given none, I would have. We drove 55 minutes to this facility with a very sick dog. Tried calling the whole way there and the phones rang busy. Arrived at 12:30 am and finally got through to the front desk, they said there would be a brief hold. 15-20 minutes later they HANG UP on us. I call back only to be told that they do not have time to treat us right now, they are busy. I tried explaining that our dog was in extreme distress and explain symptoms and the lady interrupts me and says “we will call you back when we have time to treat you” then proceeds to hang up on me again. We frantically attempted to find another emergency vet and drove another 35 minutes out of our way. OUR DOG DIED. I can’t even explain the pain that we are enduring and we need to warn everyone. Drive the extra 30 minutes and see MedVet, don’t even stop at this place if you are in emergent need of a vet. This place is awful and I wish that we would have never even stopped here. We waisted a very precious hour on this place and the staff here should be extremely ashamed of the way that they acted and I sure hope that they don’t treat everyone this way.Do yourself the solid favor and take the extra time to get your baby somewhere that they will help!
Attempted to call this emergency hospital for an hour, the latter half of that hour driving to it for what I suspected was my dog having a hernia. Labored breathing, lethargy, lack of appetite, tenderness around abdomen. She also had trouble putting weight on her back legs. We finally got through to someone on the phone while we were in the parking lot (the lobby is closed to the public) just to find out it was a 3 or 4 hour wait. The woman on the line offered zero sympathy, didnt ask about our dogs symptoms, and probably didnt care from what Im reading here.
Absolutely useless. Somthing thing is obviously wrong with my dog. He has labored breathing and looks and sounds like hes dieing. So they use a stethoscope and check his lungs and give him some antibiotics 3 weeks go by and it has gotten way worse. Ive been calling for the past 30 minutes and have just gotten a busy tone. My brother took his dog there and they said he was fine, gave him some antibiotics and sent him home. 12 hours he died.this place needs shut down.
Every pet owner dreads the thought of having to bring their pet to an emergency vet office...typically it’s a worst case scenario situation. Human emotions are high and I am sure the staff usually end up getting the brunt of it. I am beyond impressed with the professionalism, compassion, and expert care that each and every employee at Stark Emergency Vet showed myself and my little bubba, Javier. From the initial phone call to every call checking in I was at ease knowing my little guy was receiving the best care possible! Thank you, thank you, thank you Stark Emergency Vet for all that you did!
DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!! Our one year old golden retriever got hit by a car and we rushed her to this facility. The poor thing could not walk, and threw up in the car from the pain. We arrived and NO ONE was in the parking lot waiting. Luck was on our side we thought. I called and gave our information. They said someone would call you back. I explained the dog got sick and ask for paper towels. So far so good. NO!! It gets worse! They call us and get our details. Explains it will be about 15 min and would be out. In the meantime, other cars are arriving. Someone comes out and takes another dog in. Then another. We were sitting on the bench and I ask, do you take in order of arrival bc when we arrived no one was here. She said emergencies go first and this particular dog had seizures. Ok, I will be patient. Next another dog goes in and another. I ask again, are we going to be seen our dog is in pain and was hit by a car. This person says we go in order of emergency. We wait and this continues. So my daughter calls and ask what the story is. The girl starts yelling at my daughter telling her how hectic their office is and we need to wait. So we wait as our dog whimpers. I call this time and ask, what is going on? We were suppose to be seen over an hour ago. I get a rash of excuses and inappropriate responses. This included her co worker in the background telling her to tell me and I quote, too bad when I explained the dog was hit by a car. She says we are trained what to see as an emergency and mine was not. She continues to tell me there is a 4 hour wait and I can go somewhere else. When I questioned what the person in the background shouted and to speak to a supervisor, she escalated and told me there was no manager or supervisor and then threatened me that is she tells the vet that I am acting the way I am, (she is the one escalated), that they would call the police. In all my 60 years, I have never been treated this way let alone threatened to call the police. So I beat her to the punch and called the police myself. They were very sympathetic and gave me suggestions where to go. They could not believe how I was treated and our poor dog! Here is the kicker. Not 20 minutes after we left, a tech calls all happy and says, are you still here? I was coming out to get Lacey and I dont see your car? I was like, are you kidding me. Your office just threatened to call the police on me and told me too bad that I have to wait. Are you not in the same office? To her credit, she did apologize and told me to call the office manager Monday. So there are managers. My recommendation... if they run their care like this, run for the hills. They obviously do not care about animals. Our poor Lacey had a broken leg and had to suffer needlessly because of the young ladies attitudes. And to boot, we are friends with a rescue person and she said, yes, the reception people are really rude. WOW!! Reputation is out there. Just wish I would have know this before taking our loved one there. I have never wrote a review before however I felt it important to let others know how incompetent this staff was.
These so called vets refused to help my service dog after he was shot in the side of his chest. They where very disrespectful to me and friends. I have never been treated or disrespected like this in any other place of business with him. Absolutely the worse place to take ur beloved pet for any emergency. They u a bunch of vet tech drop outs that can get a real vet job anywhere else. And from what their records show they are so disrespectful they can even keep enough stuff on board to even answer there phone. I will never take a animal there again. And I suggest you dont either
I can’t say enough about how disingenuous this place is. Our dog had a seizure and was coming in and out of consciousness my husband was giving her cpr the whole way to the vet keeping her alive for 30-35 minutes the minute we got to this “hospital” they took her away from him and she died minutes later under their care without letting us be with her. Best part to the most awful traumatic experience is they charged us $650!!!!!! For doing absolutely NOTHING
Ive used this vet several times over the years. They have provided me with prompt, professional service at all hours. The staff are polite and the doctor explains everything to you as they go.They have always been up front with me. If something is not as serious as it looks and I can save money by going to the normal vet, they tell me. I have never felt taken advantage of when coming here.
We were rushing our dog there but he didnt make it. I called them from the parking lot and they sent someone out very quickly to check his status. She was so kind and apologetic and said he had passed While the receptionist stayed on the phone with me. She then went over my options for him and gave me my moments to cry and was very patient with me. These are the most compassionate group of people I have encountered. I appreciate everything they did for us and our fur baby in a time of panic.
Drove 3 hours round trip to bring my family member 🐕 of 14 years in because she took a turn for the worse. After 8 long hours, I was told there was nothing they could do for her and they recommended she be put down. I was willing to take another 3 hour drive to spend the last minutes of her life with her to comfort her and myself, but was told no. Could possibly have a “brief visit, but was not allowed to stay with her.” $1,300 later and the worst feeling and experience of my life. Next time I’ll drive even further and spend more in order to be with my furbabies, especially at a time like this. 🤬💔😢❤️🐕🐾🌈🌉
We took our chihuahua Luna here in the middle of the night. She was having trouble breathing and just not herself. Pulled up called and they came out right away and took her back and started treatment immediately and 2 hrs later and she was back to herself. Had a great experience and everyone was nice and the vet was very thorough and explained all treatment options and costs before he did the treatment. The cost was not outrageous and the care for our Luna was top notch. Would use again if needed.
After following the instructions on the back of a flea spray for our cats, our one year old spent the next day lightly foaming at the mouth. To be safe, we drove the 30 minutes to the STVEC. Both the senior and the kitten seemed pretty lively on the drive, but my husband and I still thought it best to go. And I’m happy we did. When we got there, we called in after parking in front of a numbered cone and were given light but understandable instructions on how triage was going to work for the pets from the parking lot. A veterinary nurse came out to get the kitten (Who we deemed it was necessary since she had been scratching some pretty decent ones from the recently acquired fleas.)The nurse did openly explain to us that there were two other pets inside that were in critical condition and that if we did not hear from her immediately it would mean that our cat was in stable condition. So, for about an hour, we hung out in the car, played with the senior cat, and just played some music. The surprise came when we were told the price was significantly cheaper that what we were bracing for ($200 compared to $800+, we had never used a Vet ER) and that our kitten was entirely comfortable letting them take off the sweater we had on her AND put it back on at the end of the appointment!!!I’m hoping we don’t have any more instances, but I know where we’re going if we do. Thank you STVEC for fixing my babies without breaking their hearts or my wallet!
Do you not take your pet here! My dog was sick vomiting for two days straight. We took him there and they kept him for four days. They did several tests including x-rays and ultra sound and could not tell us what was wrong. The bill was over $3000. The only good thing they did for him was put him on an IV drip. I have a friend who took his dog there for an emergency C-section and they waited more than five hours to do the surgery. All of the puppies died. Everyone I know who has been there Has had complaints.
My dog died during the night from congestive heart failure. I called the clinic in the early morning to inquire about immediate drop off of my dogs body for handling as it was so hot and I was not able to bury in my own yard. From the get go, all of the staff who helped me, especially Kimberly, were all so kind and loving. My wait time was minimal and the cost was reasonable. I highly recommend!
I left one morning to go to work and my cat was fine. When I got home he wasnt acting right almost like he couldnt stand/walk real good. I was immediately upset and gathered as much money as I could possibly scrounge up. Approx $120. I went to this Hospital and they did take a minute to greet me but she was attentive and did take him back pretty quick, as I filled out a paper. She came back our pretty soon after and had him wrapped in a towel and I do commend her for being honest, she told me that the visit itself would take a majority of the money I had and that any tests that needed to be ran in order to see what was wrong would be extra one being almost $80 itself. I was disheartened. She was honest and told me it would be better to wait till morning and take him to my normal vet in the morning because I would be spending that money so much more wisely because a vet would be cheaper and most will work with a payment plan, which they dont offer. She told me also that it was good that he was alert and eating and drinking that she couldnt promise but that he should be ok waiting just until morning and going to the other vet. I believe that places like this should be more willing to help those who are short on funds. If they really care about the animal they shouldnt take it out on them if you dont have allot of funds available. I was happy that this attendant was truthful, I just wish the prices were lower so I could care for my baby when he was desperate and my vet was closed.
When dealing with the receptionist over the phone she was perfectly nice, however once we got there it was a completely different story. The woman behind the counter is inconsiderate and bordering on rude. We were told when we got there that a cat was being treated and then they would be right with us. Three animals came in after us and two of them with way less serious injuries were immediately taken back into rooms. Two hours with sitting in the waiting room with our terrified pup I decided to ask the woman when we would be seen she told us that she wasnt sure and that the reason we werent taken back to a private room was because it wasnt a critical injury however neither of the other two pets taken back into the rooms were in critical condition. The one and only good thing about our visit was the Vet Tech who was outstanding with our pup, he alone deserves a 5-star rating, however the receptionists attitude made this rating what it is.
Took our 9 year old fur baby in on Saturday for an eye injury. His eye ended up needing removed, which is what we anticipated, and he stayed overnight. The reception staff was very very friendly. We loved the vet who did his surgery. She clearly explained our options and answered all our questions. Yes, you pay for services in advance, but that is how nearly every emergency vet operates. I thought the price was reasonable for what the surgery involved. I had to call a few days later with a follow up question and the receptionist remembered us and our dog. She got the answers we needed from the vet and was extremely helpful. (Drainage from surgery area). We are 100% satisfied and if we needed another emergency visit, we would drive the extra distance to use them again.
Took my fur baby in because she wasn’t able to urinate. The ladies at the front desk were very nice and accommodating. Our dog was taken to the back and a few minutes later we were guided into another room. The assistant later came in and told us that they were going to do xrays. The doctor followed in a while later and said that she had bladder stones and needed surgery. They got the estimate together and told us that if we didn’t do this then our baby would die. We were distraught. We agreed to the surgery. We were told that she would be able to go home in 24hrs (mind you, my baby is older and bigger). Nothing was told to us about the possibility of staying longer and an extra charge on top of that until the next night. We tried to talk to the doctor who, when I questioned the charges and asked why we were not told about that, got defensive and wouldn’t let us talk or ask questions. I called back and spoke to the receptionist, who was very nice, eventually got me back to the doctor who told me I was being hostile and rude because I asked questions. The told me to come pick up my dog after 24hrs because she wasn’t going to deal with us. She didn’t give me a choice to have her stay. The doctor was so rude and so unprofessional in every sense of the word. I would definitely recommend going anywhere else first. This was a horrible experience.
I don’t understand the negative reviews. How can you criticize a business for asking for payment??? This clinic offers a much needed service in Stark County and I’m so thankful they were there for us on a Sunday afternoon when our beloved dog was declining and needed to be put to rest. Our entire family was able to be in the room with her as she drifted off for the last time. Dr. Bridges and all of the staff were amazing. Everyone was kind, caring, and supportive, giving us as much time as we needed every step of the way. We wouldn’t hesitate to return if ever the need arises.
Took my dog in a little over a week ago after her and my other dog got into a fight and she had two lacerations on her face. I walked in and they immediately took her back while I filled out paperwork. About 15 minutes later, the vet came out and told me exactly what needed done and how she would do it. A few moments later, a tech came out and re-explained things to me along with the prices. While I waited for them to finish with her, the kind receptionist invited me into a smaller room and turned on the TV for me and checked on me every so often to see if I needed anything.I took her back today to have her staples removed. We waited for about 20 minutes before they took her back and they had them out in less than 10 minutes and encouraged me to call if I had any questions or concerns.Overall, they were kind and quick. Im sure its just luck when it comes to waiting times and no one else being there. Yes, it was pricey, but all emergency vets are, and it wasnt unreasonable. My only complaint was that they prescribed my dog painkillers in pill form rather than liquid and, since her staples were right st the corner of her mouth, I had a lot of difficulty getting her to open her mouth and take them. Other than that, things were great.
This is by far the worst place to take your pets!!! I had an emergency with my puppy who they thought had gotten ahold of poison, waited out in my car for 20 or more minutes waiting on them to come out and help my dog. Meanwhile coworkers are standing outside talking to other customers laughing and talking about personal life, while my dog is sitting in my car drooling all over waiting to be seen. I have never seen such a horrible place like this. Don’t bring your animals here ever!!!!! They also are so money hungry that they overcharge people!!!! Never again will I bring my dog here!!!!
I brought my cat here when I was convinced his leg was broken as an emergency walk-in on the weekend. He was treated very gently, and they communicated well with me. Their process was efficient, and I was able to take him home within a couple hours. His followup appointment only took minutes. Though expensive, I think the price was reasonable and comparable of that to other emergency vet clinics. My only complaint is that they sent him home with an Elizabethan Collar that cost $16--a huge markup, as I know what those cost vets wholesale--and he had it off by the time we turned onto Dressler Road. I wish I had then known about the inflatable collars! He might have tolerated that better. Luckily, he never attempted to chew his stitches.
Do not go here!! Terrible experience at this vet. Our beloved pitbull was chewing on a bone earlier in the day, and we became nervous when he was continually swallowing later on, fearing that he might have swallowed a piece of the bone. Being that it was a Sunday evening, we took him here, since it was one of our only options. We knew it was going to be $70 at the least, just for the doctor to see him. The wait time was about 30-45 min once we got in the room. The vet tech came in, talked about nothing relevant while we were clearly in distress, wanting to know what was going on with our dog. After she disappeared to the back, we waited another 30-45 for the doctor to come in. She was rude from the get go, not willing to do anything unless we subjected our dog to anesthesia and an x Ray. I told her that I also suspected that his tooth may be the issue (I was looking at his mouth earlier and noticed what looked like a chipped tooth.) She said “I’m not opening his mouth unless he is under anesthetic.” Since we were already paying her $70 I felt it was the least she could do. I opened his mouth for her and she ending up diagnosing a slab fracture. We basically paid seventy dollars plus a prescription fee for something I had already figured out with my cellphone internet search. All the while she was joking and making us feel simple minded when we were clearly just concerned and looking for answers about our beloved pet. NEVER subjecting our pup to this place again.
Nothing but a bunch of money hungry fools that dont care about your pet. I took my dog in Saturday since our regular vet wasnt open. I was told by the vet that my dog had a couple days left at best if we didnt do something for her. I told the vet my budget and was trying to gather the rest of the money for her medical bill. My pup is worth a million dollars to me and I would do anything in the world to save her. Within 4 hours of my dog of being there she took her last breath because these heartless cowards put the almighty dollar ahead of trying to save an animal. They refused to give any support to her until we had the funds available. After my dog passed they had the audacity to sit there with their hands out wanting paid. Their price was over the budget I had on me. I owed an extra $268 that was never talked about until payment time came. I let them know I did not have it and would not have it until the following Friday. I am scheduled to pick up my pups ashes on Monday and had no problem paying them at the time I pick her up. They refused. Thankfully I had a friend willing to loan me the money to pay these wastes of flesh. I wish I would of read the reviews of this place before taking my pup there. If you care about your pet in the least bit DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!
My 13yr old rescue Ellie ended here late Friday night after driving from Orrville (40minutes away). I thought she was having a stroke. I cant thank enoigh every single doc, nurse, and receptionist for the care they gave her. She was there Fri -mon. Was WAY less than I expected and her care was phenominal! I could call anytime I wanted to check on her. She had idiopathic vestibular syndrome. It was either that or a brain tumor. They explained things, quoted prices and let me know even at 13 she can recover. Shes doing AMAZING! God Bless these workers for all they did because I have my girl back! 5 stars and more if I could!
Our dog injured his foot late on a Saturday night. My last experience at a different emergency vet was costly and unpleasant so I dreaded having to go this route again. I was very pleased. The office was spotlessly clean, the staff was polite. The employees and vet were very patient and calm with our frightened dog. The cost was far less than I expected for an emergency visit. We had a fairly simple problem but in every step of what was done our dog, my daughter and I were treated kindly. I didnt experience anything like what other reviewers wrote about and I wouldnt hesitate to return again or to recommend this place.
I will say that we were happy with the work the vet did on short notice. They rushed our dog back when we arrived, but we did not receive an update of any kind until we asked the front desk 90 minutes later. The update was not correct after we asked to verify with the vet or a tech. They were severely understaffed (they told us that many times) and the long waits with no answers and wrong updates were not easy - we were worried! We followed up with our family vet the following day and they said the work that was done was at least good work. She was there for 13 hours, so we would hope so!Unfortunately, when you have an emergency during off-hours, they are one of the only options available. I would NOT recommend this place as your preferred vet, rather emergency only.. although next time we will go to the emergency clinic in Green (only 12 min. further away).
We took our dog in two nights ago because he had a violent seizure. The first night the staff was fantastic! The sweet receptionist with the long dark hair was helpful, kind and compassionate as well as the vet tech. Our dog stayed for a 24hour seizure watch. We called the next day to see when we could pick him up and speak to a vet as we had many questions. After getting hung up on by Maryanne and trying to get back through for 15 minutes, she finally answered and said we could come anytime and yes we could speak to a vet. When we arrived, we were taken back right away by Maryanne to a room where she told us the vet was too busy and we could talk to a tech instead. After paying $900.00 up front the night before, I didnt feel I was out of line insisting to speak with the vet. After some unprofessional eye rolls and being told we may have to wait a long time, she finally agreed to let us speak to the vet. The vet was very kind, but unfortunately had the wrong chart and didnt bother to get the correct one, so she didnt know the answers to some of our questions once she understood which dog was ours. After speaking to the vet,we were then told to leave the exam room by a very rude Maryanne because she had a lot of patients and we apparently were taking up needed space. We waited in the lobby for over an hour and a half for our dog to be returned to us after three requests. Bottom line- Stark Emergency Vet Clinic, have some compassion or get out of the business.....and Maryann- learn some professionalism. There are a lot of people who would love to have that job that actually care about animals and their owners.
My daughter found a wild kitty hit on our road. We rushed it into this vet office. Unfortunately it was injured too badly to be saved. They put it out of pain and would not accept any payment because it was not our personal animal. The staff was very caring (although we didnt know the cat we felt horrible). Im beyond grateful they took the kitty right in and started working on it, and out of the kindness of their hearts did not charge me. We have had our personal animals here before and they do a wonderful job with them, with reasonable prices. I Thank them each so much for helping us!
This place is a joke! The don’t understand what an emergency is. I took my 2 year old cat to them because he was lethargic and not eating or drinking and couldn’t go to the bathroom. They took him inside and said he needed emergency surgery or he would die. I asked for the price they said $2100, which I could not afford and they refused treatment knowing it was life threatening for my cat. The woman who brought my cat back to me, stepped in front of my car door and stopped me from closing my door when I was trying to leave and told me to bring him back to be euthanized when he’s in too much pain.I posted asking for emergency funding in a pet group for stark county, one of their employees jumped on my post defending their prices and practices then proceeded to call me a liar then tells me my cat is going to die a very painful death without treatment. YOU DONT DO THAT TO A PET OWNER GRIEVING OVER THEIR PET!!!!!So I found another clinic (soehnlen vet clinic in Navarre), who not only drained my cats bladder but treated him with antibiotics, pain medication and gave him IV fluids for $134!!! Not only that they gave me antibiotics to give to him at home free of charge and gave me a free bag of prescription cat food he will have to be on for the rest of his life(valued at 60-70$). They (soehnlen) know the true meaning of emergency and have complete compassion for our pets and pet owners. This “emergency clinic” tried to completely over charge me by $2000 and were utterly unprofessional and rude and was going to let my cat die when all they needed to do was what Soehnlen did for him. Stark ER vet said he had crystals, an enlarged bladder and something blocking his urethra, which they weren’t wrong but for them to try and rob me of $2100 for a procedure I had done for $134 is unacceptable. This place and all it’s employees and doctors need shut down and licenses revoked to never practice in vet medicine again! If you value your pets life do not take them here in the event of an emergency!
If I could give 0 stars I would. Had to put my cat down today. She finally let us know she was ready after a long battle with her illness. Our regular vet was closed, due to the holiday, so we went here to help her make her journey. They informed my husband and I it would be double, $150, to put her down with us present. Didnt have a problem paying extra, I understand that. But, when they told me they would have to take my cat in the back room without us to give her a catheter, I was not ok with that. The whole point of owners being present is as much for us as it is for the animal. Giving them comfort and love in their final moments is all they would want. I understand this is a business but a little compassion for families and the animals that are a part of them would go a LONG way.We ended up leaving and going elsewhere. We went to a vet that was able to fit us in and showed a little compassion to a dieing cat and her family.
We were welcomed immediately by the front desk. Had a short wait in the waiting room. The nurse was very gentle with our cat and explained everything well. You could tell she was an animal lover especially to my cat. We kind of new what was going on before we got there based on her symptoms and google but we needed to be sure. The doctor confirmed our fears. They quoted the surgery to fit our budget the best they can for this type of emergergency situation and yes it was a still a lot at once but thanks to care credit we were able to save our cats life. I can never say enough good things about the nurse and doctor who took care of us on Christmas Eve. I am so thankful that my cat is alive and well.
Any cause to visit an emergency pet clinic can be a trying event. However, I was very pleased and comfortable with this facility. From the time I initially contacted them by phone, they were very professional, kind, and sincere. It was a very busy night and one can expect delays. However, I knew in my own mind, my dog Murphy was beyond any chance of recovery, so the wait was acceptable. Pets with a slight chance of recovery need attention first. The girls at the front desk were very accommodating, answered all of my questions, informed me of my options, and served me with respect and kindness. I would like to mention a young lady that was extra kind to me and showed true compassion and her love of animals at this most heartbreaking time. Her name was Danielle and worked as a technician. She was so sweet. Many comments that have rated this facility are of a negative nature, pointing towards attitude, caring and overpricing. I dont understand the mentality of some of these individuals that write such comments, other than mean attitudes and hatred in their time of sadness. Every pet owner wishes to take their buddy to their own vet, but this is not always possible. I am just thankful that this facility is nearby and available. I would highly recommend them in a time of need. Give your pets a big hug today while they are still with you!
If you care about your pet/family member do not bring them here. Ive never seen less compassion or understanding in a human being in my life and when I left I was more confused than I was angry about how someone who works at an emergency clinic could behave like that. Save your pet and yourself and take them somewhere else.
I understand some of the one-star reviews as much as I understand the five-star reviews. Both perspectives are valid, hence my three-star rating. Its true that this clinic is incredibly expensive and is generally unwilling to alter their price to accommodate someones income or circumstance. The same could be said for a dentist, a car dealer, an insurance company or a guy that does snow removal. Are they overpriced? Yes. Do they give you options that increase your costs exponentially? Again, yes. This all sounds terrible, doesnt it? Heres the other side of this particular coin:This clinic was open to help my cat who began having seizures this past weekend. Without them, I would have had no choice but to watch in helpless agony as my very dear furry friend of 19 years slowly beat himself to death against the floor and slip into a coma as he exhausted himself over and over again.Im truly grateful that I didnt have to do that to him - or me - because this clinic was available. I was able to visit him late in the night when it became clear the seizures were not episodic and could not, reasonably, be treated in the long term. Im grateful they offered the option of CAT scans and brain surgery, but I knew it would not be fair to a cat of his age, nor to my family financially. When we came to the conclusion that euthanizing him was the only reasonable option, the staff was very kind and patient.I understand there are multiple rationales for their pricing, I cant help but feel its still higher than it needs to be. The love people feel for their pets is both deep and quite real. For those who lack the resources (or lines of credit) the torture of being helpless to care for their pet is agonizing. That said, I gladly paid the high fees knowing that by doing so, the clinic will continue to be there during off-hours should we need it for another four-legged family member.
I took my 13 year old pup here after having seizures and to be put to sleep, AMAZING staff. They treated my old girl wonderfully. They came in and talked to us and reassured us in our decision. Layed a comfy blanket down and let us be with her to say our good byes. Then they came in and gently put her to sleep and gave us more time! I also called ahead for pricing and let them know i was coming in. I had ZERO issues. And having issues with my other dog i may be back in.
When I read all the posts that were so frightening I almost didnt go but I read a recent post by someone who had the same fear as I did but went anyway & made an effort to post their experience which was a positive one so I wanted to do the same. While I agree the costs are very high, the convenience of having a place to go when you need help when your regular vet is closed, makes it understandable. It is, after all an emergency room, our experience was good. We were treated kindly and all questions were answered. One medicine they were going to give our pet for pain was one I take and they gave us instructions on using my meds to avoid costs of getting meds from them which was also helpful. We were there at shift change and everyone was very kind, upfront with expectations on cost, waiting times, etc. While I didnt expect to spend nearly $400 it could have been much more. Thank you for your kindness and care.
Can I make this a negative star rating? Beware!!!!!! This is a Horrible place. I brought my small dog in due to trouble breathing. The staff came to him immediately and took him back to give him oxygen. 7 hrs later I didn’t know if my dog was dead or alive. I couldn’t find out anything about him at all. I was told “he is resting comfortably that’s all you need to know”. It all went down hill from there. Any time I asked a question as to the status of my dog it appeared to be a great inconvenience for the staff. They were incredibly rude and uncaring and told me to go home. Home is 45 minutes away. I was going out of the country in less than 8 hrs. I was told to call when I wanted to and see how he always doing and if I should get him. I asked how long should I wait- “ as long as you want”. Can you give me a suggestion as to what to do here? What is your protocol? “No we cannot and we are very busy”. Any time I called I was told “we are too busy call back later”or “ he is resting comfortably “. At one point - about 5 hrs into this night mare - I told them I was going to just take my dog home and hope he makes it though the night till I can go to my vet in the morning. I was told by the person behind the desk “you do realize your dog will die if I took him out of the oxygen”. At hour 5 I had hoped he was improving but didn’t know . The same staff said -“ Look at your estimate”, I said I didn’t get an estimate. What I actually had was a bill and it was already paid. I was asked “ you mean you sign thing you dont read?” With this particular woman, Every time I tried to ask a question I was interrupted with an answer she thought I was going to ask. At one point the women said “ you were going to ask if your dog has to stay the night”. I said no , let me finish, that’s not what I said. The woman said “ oh yes you did ask that.”After 7 hrs I got into the car and just drove there. I was determine to just take the dog. Wasn’t sure if he was dead or alive. If he wasGoing to die I wanted to be there for him and not with such horrible, uncaring, rude ,nasty people. It turned out he was better and sent home on antibiotics. No one told me that . A 3 minute update would have saved me so much grief. The point is that the staff are rude and cruel. If they treat humans like that how do they treat your animal. It seemed like they hated their job and all the people that came in. We bothered them by coming in. Interrupted their eating session. I ended up going out of town on 3 hrs sleep and driving back and forth 4 times for a 45 minute drive. Dog is ok. My son finally got to speak to the vet after being very stern. The vet was a good guy and probably doing his best?????? He sure hired some nasty staff to be his first Impression. Spend more money and get quality staff sir. . They women are horrible and make you look really , really bad. If you go out of business it will be because of your front desk staff.
The vet was GREAT...super kind and very knowledgeable but the office staff is where the issue is. I called recently to have them email my dog’s X-rays over to my regular vet and the lady told me they were emailed at the end of May. When I contacted my vet today they said they had no record of them emailing anything. So I called back tonight and the receptionist who answered the phone had the worst attitude. She assumed who I and told me that they did it twice yesterday and that they weren’t going to do it again. Didn’t even ask my name or anything...Turns out I wasn’t even the person she thought I was
Our mastiff puppy ingested a rock and had to have emergency surgery.EVERYONE was SO NICE and very helpful! The vet called us immediately after & gave us an update. They encouraged us to call whenever we wanted to check on him and even said we could visit. They went over all take home papers thoroughly including his meds and diet.My pup is home now thanks to them!
If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is a joke and only money hungry. This isn’t the first time I have had problems with them. A few months ago I had my own dog that was having seizures and couldn’t come out of it. They wanted almost $3,000 upfront. Who has that? My dog died that night because she wouldn’t come out of seizure. Well this weekend my in laws had to take their 7 week old puppy up there for emergency and they wanted $1200 upfront for this puppy. Well the puppy ended up dying because this vet would not help him at all until they had the money up there. And then they kept calling saying he’s doing good we got the piece of food he was chocking on out and he’s breathing good and he’s trying to bark. Then they called back and said his heart stop but they brought him back and then they called him back 30 minutes later and he was dead. They are a joke and they are not out to help animals. They are only out for money and that’s all it comes it down too.
Melody Jenkins why are you acting like you dont know that they werent able to let you in the back area because of covid?Ifyy clothing do you really not comprehend that in any emergency room, both for people and animals, that patients are taken back in order of urgency? For example, if one dog is there for an ear infection and a cat comes in that is blocked and cant urinate, the cat will obviously be taken back first because it is more urgent. If youre going to review something, at least be honest about your experience. Maybe youre both just a bit entitled.
Very disappointed and will be pressing charges on girl at vet clinic for menacing along other charges. I Brought my cat for help and was immediatly treated very rude when they asked for 2100$ up front and we said we didnt have it.. As we continued to talk to them about options. They had a very condescending tone when we explained to them we couldnt afford $2,100 so as we asked them to bring my cat back out so we can find somebody that would help him. Which we did we were meet outside with this woman whose only advice was they will put him down for us. Instead of anything else we could do. And later that night one of the girls that works there Kyle golden looked my wife up on FACEBOOK to run her mouth saying my cat was going to die a painfull death and then continued to laugh at other peoples suggestions for trying to help my fur baby. Keep in mind I also have screenshots of this girl from that vet clinic putting my wife and others down for trying to help. . NEVER SEEN SUCH UNPROFESSIONALISM IN MY LIFE !!!
Despite waiting for almost 2 hours in the lobby several others with less severe injuries were let into rooms prior to us. The front desk worker was rather rude when questioned about the wait and this place is under staffed. If you can take your pet elsewhere I would suggest doing so. Our pets injury continued to worsen during the wait causing us and him more distress than was necessary. The only reason this is a 2 star is the fact that the gentleman who helped our pup was fantastic with him.
A couple weeks ago, I found a kitten who had been dumped outside of a local bank. She was barely moving and had blood all over her face. A friend of mine suggested going to Stark Country Veterinary Emergency Clinic, as it was the only 24-hour facility she knew of in the area. After explaining the situation to the staff and handing her over for care, I wrote my name and contact information down. I asked them to call me as soon as they knew what was wrong, to which I was told, if Im allowed, which was a little weird to me.A few hours later, after no contact from the clinic, my boyfriend and I headed back to check on the kitten. Upon arrival, the woman at the front desk (who I had talked with earlier) told us she could not disclose any information, but implied that the kitten had not made it. Once we brought out our wallet, she was suddenly able to tell us that the kitten had severe head trauma and it would require us to pay $5,000+. At this point, I was fed up with the service we had received, and wanted to take her to a different facility. The staff refused to give her back to us, claiming we had surrendered her, although I had not signed any surrender papers and had specifically said I would be back for her. After arguing for quite some time, we got her back and took her to VCA Animal Hospital in Green. After being seen there, we were sent home with antibiotics and pain medication for $200, not the $5,000 the staff at Stark County Veterinary Emergency Clinic had told us it would take to save her. VCA even texted me the next day to check on how she was doing. As of today, she is in perfect health and doing very well. With the previous being said, I would not recommend this facility to anyone.
So we have sat here for an hour waiting for a shot that takes them 5 minutes if even to give our animal. Drove half an hour to get here and the receptionist said she left them a note back in the back that we are out here waiting..... this place is good only if needed as an emergency...... and even then they will keep adding stuff to your animal saying things are wrong to try and get more money. Happy our cat is slowly getting better but the service has been ridiculous and they never seem to be on the same page with any coworkers.
The woman at the desk were attentive and synaptic, while we did wait awhile we were always informed of what was going on. Once our pup was examined the vet, the vet tech, and the woman at the desk helped us with questions, the process, the what ifs, and broke down the payment nicely. The payment for an emergency tail amputation is comparable to my regular vet.Not a solution to your vet, and they tell you this, but a great back up when life becomes unexpected.
I brought my dog Zoe to their hospital on Friday after she became very ill. Everyone there was wonderful and very compassionate. She had to remain there until she was transferred up to Copley this morning and during those few days they took the time to get updates on her condition when I called in , even when they were busy. I could have not asked for a better experience.
Ill give 1 star because yes, they were open and its the lowest rating itll let me give. My puppy was given a 0% chance to make it through the night unless we paid $400 for x-rays to see if maybe there was a chance for him. The $400 was only the beginning of the $2000 the whole treatment would cost. We said we didnt have $400. The very next breath was about putting him down... Long story short, he is alive and well. All about the money, because all this devastating news was delivered without an ounce of sincerity or compassion.
Absolutely horrible people. They lied to us about our dogs treatment. Our dog ended up with diabetic ketoacidosis. They did NOT monitor our dogs glucose every hour until it was down as they said they would. He went unmonitored for 4 to 6 hours at a time. They put dextrose on him which pushes sugar levels back up and had him going from in the 100s clear up into the 400 and 500s constantly just back and forth. Ive talked to 2 other emergency vets that flat out told me this is NOT the treatment plan for what was wrong with our dog. If we had listened to them and kept our dog on 4 units of n insulin every 12 hours as they said it would be back in the same condition it was. We got him back finally this past Friday. Saturday we did the 4 units in the morning. We got our glucose monitor for dogs that afternoon and his sugar was so high it would not even read. We went to 5 units for his evening dose on Saturday which finally got it back down to normal by Sunday morning and have even found we have to do 2 shots of r during the day to keep it from going insanely to high. On top of all this we found marks on our dog consistent with it being abused while there. They held him down so hard around his neck it was black and blue. KEEP IN MIND ITS A CHIHUAHUA MIX THAT ONLY WEIGHS 15 POUNDS. Im disputing the charge on care credit and we are contacting an attorney to go after them for medical misconduct. Absolutely horrible people that have no business whatsoever treating animals. They will be dealing with the better business bureau as well. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE NO MATTER WHAT!!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE PEOPLE.
Great staff! Very friendly, hard working, and courteous! Rushed my dog there due to her stomach being distended and bloated and they worked to get her in as quickly as possible. She had to stay for 3 days and they took such good care of her. They were extremely patient with me calling a million times to check on her ❤️ Was happy knowing my girl was in good hands!
Reading the reviews about this clinic is there anywhere or anyone to report them to. It seems they pray on the fact that you do have a severely sick animal and are raping your wallets. Emergency is called that for a reason. Making people wait 6 hours or not seeing your pet due to financial reasons truly isnt fair. Im hoping I will not ever need to visit this horrible sounding place and pray my fur family stays healthy and safe or at least during the time my vets office is open. Good luck to whomever needs to use this facility.
NEVER TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!! Really long review but worth the read if you care about your animal. I really hope this review saves people from going through what I did. They don’t give a damn about you or your pet. I had a horrible experience here and it almost cost my cats life. They repeated the same procedure on my cat three times and kept him there for 6 days. Charged me for all 6 days and charged me for the 3 exact same procedures.. In the end they pretty much told me that they knew all along the procedure they were performing wasn’t going to work!!! Not to mention the other hospital told me they almost did irreversible damage and he may not have made it had Stark County Veterinary kept him longer. I went to see him every night he was there and they were so rude they’d bring him to the room and pretty much throw him to me with all the IVs. They had him so drugged up he could barely move. They didn’t handle him with care they just kinda threw him around.PLEASE PLEASE HEAR ME OUT AND AVOID THIS PLACE!!! They only care about money! It felt like they were like ok how much money is she willing to dish out to save this kitty... They still send me bills in the mail. I paid $1,000.00 for the first of 3 procedures... I think that’s enough considering they messed up. Still considering taking legal action against them. EXTREMELY RUDE EMPLOYEES!Thank god for Creekside Animal Clinic in Wadsworth and Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital!
I took our 7 week old kitten after her paw was injured in a closing door. She was evaluated immediately upon our arrival. The staff was kind, compassionate and very professional. I felt the charges were reasonable given it was a Sunday at nearly midnight. In the past we used another veterinary ER north of here and it was much more expensive. I would recommend this clinic for any veterinary emergency.
This so called vet hospital does not have any interest in nursing sickly animals back to health. Their main concern is MONEY. I took my cat here when its tail got run over, and it was after hours for my local vet. They told me my cat would be fine, but they NEEDED to do a surgery to keep him from living. The next morning they called and said surgery went fine. 2 hours later they called and my pet had passed away. I later called my vet to go over what had happened and she informed me the surgery was in no way needed immediately. All they wanted was my money and they KILLED my beloved pet. I would strongly recommend against taking your pet here if you care about them even in the smallest capacity. Take the extra voyage to Akron! AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! The Vets should be ashamed that they work for such a shameful business.
I am disabled and have an injured service dog that needs vet care. They refused to even see her if I didnt have over $500 to pay. The woman rudely told me more than once I better reach out to my family for help to save my dog. I lost my entire family to cancer, the last one was my Grandma who raised me in 2013. This women had me in tears. My poor furbaby is all Ive got and Ive been turned away by 4 different vets because I dont have any money until I get my SSDI. I even offered to leave my debit card with one vet. All of these vets care more about money than they do the animals, especially this place.
Everyone that we came into contact at this facility was wonderful, until the very end when we had to check out. My sister, my father, and I had decided to put our family dog down. As I was was already crying during the lobby, the receptionist told me how much it was. I had NEVER been to a vets office, let alone an ER vet, so I had no idea of the cost. She told me the price and I repeated because I was shocked. She then proceeded to tell me well you could be leaving with a $3-$4k bill. I then shot back with and those people are leaving with a healthy animal I CANNOT believe that this woman proceeded to say that me while I was crying, knowing what we had decided. Needless to say, we took our family dog to another facility that was so compassionate not only towards our family member, but towards us as well. Thank you to the staff at this facility, however, the front of the house needs some work!!
Will let your animals die if youre unable to pay upfront. If you cant pay, they said We arent a free clinic, if you cant pay, we wont do anything. No one expects a free operation but telling someone that in distress is cruel. Least set up a payment plan if youre unable to pay upfront.
First off to the people who complained about their service and careing. It says on the door - payment is expected in advance.Sometimes it is costly to own a pet and if you can’t afford medical care for uour loved pet- don’t have a pet.Second- they were attentive and courtious. They showed that they cared for their clients and animals. The outcome of my Marley could have been much worse but the staff perservered and showed determination in making Marley feel better. The value I received was second to none.I highly recommend that you being your ill pet for fantastic care.It takes money unfortunately to pay the staff pay the light bill and meds and realestate- if the staff could afford to work for free I’m certain that they would - but it’s nit that kind of world. The world I want to live in is one where the people you pay donthe best they can deliver the best service possible for the available rescourses. That has been my experience here.Well done
Our 2 year old goldendoodle got her favorite toy, a hard plastic ball, stuck on on her bottom canines. We tried, but just couldn’t get it off. We went to the Stark County Veterinary Emergency Clinic and they quickly removed the toy. They were amazing! We walked in and they immediately took her back. They had the toy off and back in the lobby before I even filled out the paperwork!! An added bonus was that they didn’t even charge us!! Thank you everyone at SCVEC!! Hopefully we won’t be back, but if so, I know we will be in good hands!!!!
Not even deserving of the star! I brought my dog in with an acute case of a severely bulging swollen eye. I could see there was blood behind the pupil. My dog could not see out of the eye as she was bumping into things. I explained all of this detail to the front desk. I was handed a clipboard of papers without even looking up and told me to fill them out and I would have to wait an hour. I filled out the papers to include all details of my dogs eye and returned them. The receptionist looked at the paperwork and asked me which eye? I told her the left eye and showed her where I wrote it down. She told me again a one hour wait and to have a seat. They did not triage my dog at all. I sat and watched as a couple people in tears rushed in with their pets and they were taken directly to the back. I sat and watched as someone who arrived close to fifteen minutes after me completed their paperwork and I heard her say her dog hurt his toenail by getting it caught on something. They took her dog in the back and returned not even ten minutes later with the dogs foot wrapped in a bandage. They left and yet I sat and waited. A couple of pets were discharged and left with their owners. I was finally called after waiting 1 hr and 40 minutes. The vet tech placed me in a room with my dog and told me a nurse would be in shortly. Another twenty minutes went by before the nurse came in. She took one look at my dog and asked what happened to her eye? I told her it just happened that morning so I brought her right in. She scooped my dog up and said she needs to be seen immediately her eye could rupture and she disappeared with my dog! Of course at this point I burst into tears. I knew my dogs condition was a true emergency! The nurse came back and started questioning me if my dog was exposed to rat poison, or if I witnessed an injury? She asked what made me think this was only a possible eye irritation? I asked her what she meant? She told me that I wrote down possible eye irritation on the paperwork. I told her no I did not! She showed me and it was written there but not my handwriting! The receptionist wrote it! After a total of 5 hours I was told my dogs eye was swollen and filled with blood due to high blood pressure. I was given three prescriptions which increased the final cost I agreed to pay which was no issue to me. Ill pay what I have to in order to care for my pets. I was told to follow up with my regular vet and was also referred to a vet ophthalmologist. After the weekend I called and got my dog an appointment with the ophthalmologist (which was a 2 month wait) and took my dog to my regular vet. My vet examined her and said something needs done as soon as possible! He called the ophthalmologist and asked him to see my dog sooner because it was urgent. They gave me an appointment for first thing the next morning. The next morning my dogs eye was looking like it was going to burst! It looked like a horrible zombie eye! I arrived at the ophthalmologist and they examined my dog and found the eye to have a pressure reading of 99 which is more than triple of a normal reading! Needless to say, my dog was taken into surgery where the eye was removed. Pathology report showed a fast growing aggressive tumor. I was told my dog was enduring horrible pain but now that the eye has been removed there would be great improvement in the following few days. I do see the improvement and her ophthalmologist follow up is in a couple of days. My regular vet and the ophthalmologist are the true heroes in this whole ordeal. I know my pet is no more important than anybody elses pet. What is the use of having Stark County Veterinary Emergency Clinic if they cant even complete a simple triage? Since when does a receptionist take it upon herself to diagnose a possible anything? Two hours went by before anybody even threw my poor dog a glance! Wake up! Loss of eyesight is a true emergency not a booboo toenail! Shame on you for your negligence! TRIAGE! TRIAGE! TRIAGE! I truly hope your pets are met with true competence! BOO on you!!!!!!!!
I had the unfortunate luck of witnessing a kitten get hit by the car in front of me. I stopped to see if I could save it, but it seemed that the impact killed the poor thing instantly. I am a huge cat lover and just couldn’t leave the little one there to rot. I wanted to bury it but I’m pretty sure you can’t just do that. Even in your own yard. (Pet cemeteries do exist and can bury loved pets) I wrapped the small kitten in an old (clean) t-shirt and placed the body in a box before taking it to these wonderful people. They were very sweet, understanding, compassionate, and patient while I fought through my emotions and held back tears to explain the situation. The front desk double checked the kitten’s body for any signs of life, and said that the little one had indeed passed away. They let me know they would take care of the body. They also encouraged me to be careful driving home and to just breathe. Bless these people and what they do.
My dog needed to be seen immediately but they refused to see her because the doctor was leaving in 45 minutes. This is now the third time my family was turned away from this place. The first time this happened we lost a dog because of an obstructed bowel and maybe the time we had to drive to another hospital 20 minutes away could have been used to save her life.
What a rough visit. My dog had excessive vomiting and i went in around midnight on a saturday night. Walked in and was the only car in the parking lot and only person in the lobby. No one greeted us for 5 minutes and when the tech did see us, a greeting is not the word i would use to describe our interaction. At least 5 more minutes passed by before she took us to an exam room where she started the conversation off by basically criticizing me on my dogs breed. She asked me what was so special about him since hes a double doodle. She didnt understand why people keep getting breeds when there are so many unwanted pets in the world. What a way to start off the exam. She then bascially freaked out when i told her he ate a corn cob a couple weeks ago and made me feel like an idiot like she thought i gave it to him on purpose. The price of the exam changed from what the person on the phone told me and even what she printed on the estimated costs sheet to when we checked out because it was after midnight. She was very abrassive and frankly rude throughout the entire 3 hours we were there. Thank goodness the vet was nice, but needless to say i will not take my dog back there.
Took my pup there today and the staff was wonderful. Very friendly and gentle with my pup. Only spent about an hour And a half there. For as busy as they were that was pretty good. Great experience during a stressful time. Bill was reasonable for being a hospital. I will have no issues bringing my pup back here if needed.
I had to rush my car Max to this emergency facility when his back legs stopped working. I did not have the money on me to pay, as I didn’t get paid until the next following morning. They took him in immediately. Unfortunately max’s Congenital heart disease has put a blood clot from his heart and he was in dire pain with no way to save him. They were kind to me and so very helpful and sympathetic. I held my cat as they put him to sleep. Worst thing I have every seen or been through. They are a caring place that will do what they can to get your animal the best treatmentwithout being turned away because you can’t pay up front . Thank you stark emergency
I recommend this place for anyone! I was very nervous taking my cat because shes only ever been to one vet and they made her feel so comfortable, even brought in a pink fuzzy towel for her to hide in. I cant rave about this place enough. It was a fabulous experience. The staff is all very friendly and reassuring if youre an over-worried pet parent such as myself. Pricing is very fair. The visit itself was the most expensive part, which for being an emergency clinic did not surprise me, everything else was very reasonable. Its nice to know theyre here if I find myself in a bind once again with my old timer.
I highly recommend this business. My 4 month old kitten was accidentally stepped on and was going into shock and bleeding from her nose and mouth. They took her back immediately and began to care for her. I didnt have a lot of money so they gave me an option that was more in my price range and was still able to treat my kitten. She is still recovering but she is doing great! I cannot thank the staff and doctors enough for saving her and taking great care of her!
Had to take my dog here when she was sick they had to keep her for a couple days and do surgery I will tell you this place is amazing even let me go visit my dog and they had hearts on her door because she was a favorite! Made our whole family feel welcomed and most of all saved my dogs life! Yes they are pricey but I will tell you ya get what you pay for at some places and I dont regret a bit meeting these great ladies! -- Xenas Family (the rottie)
Brought my black lab in today because the right side of her face was swollen. They were very, very busy it took a long time to be seen, but there were a lot of other cases that were more important than mine. I was happy to wait my turn. Everyone there was very friendly, nice and helpful. Dr. Bridges, Troy, Sarah and JoAnn took excellent care of us! Everything was explained to me more than once. Bless their hearts for their very caring attitude!
If I could give this place negative starts I would. Took my dog there because she was having trouble breathing and had some wheezing. We had sat there for roughly 4 hours with no answers. Not one staff member during that time had come to check on us or our dog. They charged us almost $800 for absolute horrible and uncaring service. These people just want your money and do not care about your pet or you.
They were amazing when my little girl had to have emergency surgery, they kept us informed every step of the way, very compassionate staff. Excellent detailed after care instructions, I will definitely take her there again if an emergency arises and I will definitely recommend to anyone.
My 15 year old Golden Retriever was having seizures and trouble breathing so because this clinic was close we called in route and they told us they were too busy and I would have to go to another clinic. Explained the situation was an emergency and still went to the clinic thinking he did not have long, the tech came out and told me to take him to Akron/Copley that was 40 minutes away. They had three cars in the parking lot!!! This clinic should be closed because they obviously do not understand what EMERGENCY means. Copley clinic ended up putting him down because of the severity of his situation. DO NOT USE THIS CLINIC - go to Uniontown/Green or Copley if you can.
This place is a disgrace, they dont care about animals just more about money. The staff is extremely rude and just takes advantage of the fact that the are an emergency vet and think they can treat people like dirt. I would leave negative stars is I could. I brought a cat in that was in critical condition and needed emergency surgery and they handed me a bill that was for an insane amount that I couldnt afford and gave me no choice but to put the cat down. Theyre more interested in money!
Took our dog here at 10pm one night due to an unexpected severe seizure at our home. We called ahead and the receptionist was very helpful and insisted we bring him in asap. Took us 15 mins to arrive. Once there they took our dog in almost immediately and were very polite and efficient. We felt the pricing was fair and didnt feel gouged. In an emergency situation this is a perfect place we would certainly recommend.
Answered questions rudely. Took their precious time to give us our puppy back. We were told he’d have a 0% chance of living. He’s completely fine. They make up conditions to trick you for money. Please don’t take your precious animals here. A longer drive is worth it. Don’t pay these evil people a dime.
My dog had surgery because if a bladder infection. They put in staples to peice her back together. The left one inside her so she had problems for months after that. We called and told them that there was an issue and they said they could fix it for free. I appreciate the offer but I couldnt take the risk of my dog having a second surgery when you dont know if they are going to make it out the first one. Unfortunately my dog now has Kidney stones. It hasnt been a yr since her surgery. I dont know how fast they form but I would think that the vet would of caught that. She had 4 kidney stones that looked like rocks in a drive way. They was preety big. Also the vet that did that surgery said there was some complications because of her first surgery. I just dont believe they emergency vet did a very good job of working on my dog.
I took my dog there after he suffered an allergic reaction to a vaccination. The vet examined him then sent the assistant in with an estimate of $1800 to treat him!!!! When I said I didnt have that kind of money, they said they couldnt treat him without money up front. I asked them if they would let him die if I couldnt pay their ridiculous bill. I got several minutes of double talk before I interrupted and asked them again. The response was: Unfortunately, all treatment must be paid for up front or theres nothing we can do.So word to the wise - unless you have a credit card or lots of money to spare, dont bother with them. Money is all they care about. It costs $78 just to walk in the door.
Our boxer has an enlarged heart which has led to heart failure. They have seen him before for his condition. The medication worked for a little bit. After many months of restless nights. My mom being up with his all night afraid we were losing him. Him wetting himself, not being able to eat or even lay down in comfort due to all the fluid in his lungs, we decided to ease his pain and have him put to sleep. The receptionist judged our family for the decision. Stated it wasn’t time. Who are you to judge?? You don’t know how we as a family feel seeing our beloved family member suffer. It was very rude and uncomforting.
My dog was hit by a truck towing a boat at 11:00 pm on a Friday. He was bleeding and going into shock and frankly all I grabbed was him and my neighbor drove us to the clinic. I had to have $1000 for them to hold him till Monday or I would have to take him with me even though he was bleeding and BOTH hips were broken away from his pelvis. Thank God my neighbor had her purse and was able to pay so I could leave him and get him pain management. I give them an OK because they did administer fluids to keep him from going into shock which would have killed him - and they gave me the name of a wonderful surgeon who repaired my baby. It was $1500 to them - and only $3,000 for his surgery. Their prices are high...but my baby is alive - just remember if you go there...bring your purse!
Well it all start Saturday morning my husband woke up to find our puppy right eye swollen and red. We make at appointment at regular veterinarian. Then the puppy started to break out into hives. They took him right away. Everything was okay until 11:30p when my husband went to give the puppy benadryl. We immediately Google this hospital. When we arrived there, there was a waited. We was up next and the doctor had a emergency operation. The nurse ask if she could take puppy back to the doctor to see if we could wait or if we needed to headed to Akron. The nurse comes back and said we could start the paperwork. We found out that he was having another allergic reaction to something that bit him. They gave him multiple injection. We had wonderful service and everyone was so kind. We finally left the hospital at 1:30a and a bill of $173.00.
This place is horrible. If i could rate 0 stars or negative i would. I called to take my dog there yesterday they told me i would need $78 for the exam and the rest of the money up front but wouldnt know the total cost until they did the exam. I couldnt get my check until this morning and i told them the severity of my dogs situation and offered to even give them my car title as collateral until the next morning when i could have paid for the services i was told they arent a title loan office. So this morning i went up with my dog and money in hand and when i walked in the office i was told the vet wouldnt be there until 6pm and i should be ashamed of myself for not seeking attention yesterday when i called (and was begging and pleading for them to please see my dog) i told them they should be ashamed for not seeing my dog because i didnt have $78 yesterday. On my way out the door i was told i might like a cheaper vet because they are expensive (i must say i felt like pretty woman when the rich snooty b!tches wouldnt let her shop) like im low class. I found a wonderful practice who helped me today and they are truly caring people they took my dog and didnt ask for payment upfront and worked out a payment plan with me also i wasnt even charged for extra services they provided. This place needs to change their name to Chase Bank because they do only care about money..not your fur babys or your feelings..they made me feel like a low class peice of trash and then blamed me for their greed. Will never go back they are low life individuals shame on them. My dog is home tonight sleeping after his hard couple of days.
I brought my 7 Year old German Shepherd with weakness dr bridges diagnosed him with bowel perforation and recommended surgery, he did not disclosed that he is not a surgeon and that there is a vet surgeon in Akron and he did not recommend transfer, the surgery was done, they were not prepared for post op care they keep asking me to buy his post op emergency IV med Levofed from Mercy hospital, they overload him with iv fluid, they miss weigh him by their techs and ended with severe congestive heart failure and severe edema and pulmonary edema and died with $10,000 bill, this bill was an estimate with 10 days worth of care, not 4 days worth of care that my dog received, I lost my best friend and part of my family by their ignorance , deceiving, neglegance and dishonesty from the doctors and techs. I wont come back neither should you go their at all
I cannot say enough about the awesome care that was given to my dog Maisie during her two night stay. She was suffering from seizures and was unable to walk, eat, drink, could barely lift her head. Her medications were not working. They figured out it was an autoimmune inflammatory process and got her on the right medications. After fearing she wouldnt make it, or I would have to make the decision to put her down due to how sick she was, I now have my sweet baby home, happy, back to her old self. Thank you Dr Lafreniere, Kimberly, Aly, and the rest of the staff. I know there are several names Ive forgotten. Yes this was a costly situation, but they saved her llife. Having my lil princess back is priceless.
My mother and I brought her cat here and they were AMAZING. They were completely honest, treated the cat with such sweet care, and didnt talk down to us. The best part was that they gave her a few different options to choose from for care. They didnt make us feel bad if we didnt want to spend $1000. I highly recommend this place.
On multiple occasions we took our dogs in for emergency medical intervention. One was having seizures, another developed HOD (identified immediately by the ER vet), a puppy needing meds for an allergic reaction - the list is long over the last 9 years. In all situations their staff was professional and courteous. The techs are kind, they try to console the animal who is stressed. The vets are thorough, wanting to get an accurate diagnosis the first time. ER vets in general are expensive -its the nature of the beast- they are providing services unavailable by other vets during their hours of operation. They are not out of line with other ER clinics. I recommend them completely.
Thank goodness for emergency clinics like Stark. For all the people who say they are money hungry please remember having a pet whom you are responsible for is a luxury not a requirement. I have two because that all I can afford and I use care credit for my vet services when I dont have the money up front. Its absurd the amount of people complaining reviews on here how clinics expect money for the services provided, duh how do you think they can pay the staff, doctors and stay in business.
I normally dont write reviews but felt compelled to write one for Starks ER for animals because I disagree with the existing low rating reviews. Last night our cat got into cat fight outside and was bleeding from his paw. I had to make a decision on where to take him. I googled and here found these reviews. These reviews scared me and I was very close to just go to the one in Akron. However, since it was already 1 in the morning, I took a gamble and went to the Stark ER.Let me tell you, there are some things you will always find in ER, like long waiting time. We waited about half hour before we saw a doctor. Other than that, no issues.I also disagree with others that this place is costly. Yes, my bill last night was $160. But what do you expect from ER? The $160 bill included ER visit, medicine, antibiotics and exam fee.Sorry for long review but I dont want someone to not go to ER just because of these scary reviews. My cat is happy, I am happy and all is good.
I called to see about a price on an allergy shot. Said there was no way they could help, the vets were the only ones that could say cause its based on size of animal. I was able to give size, history, breed.. anything they needed to just give me an idea. I figured they could ask a vet.. whats the point if they refuse help. I wouldnt trust my pet to somewhere that doesnt even attempt to do there job.
Terrible people! Rude and ignored me and my dog for 10 minutes! After making eye contact with me twice! Finally a very nice man who was polishing floors acknowledged me! Not even a staff member! When I did speak with staff she was rude and condescending! Telling me to take my dog to her regular vet! They had no doctor till 6! Well genius I already tried her vet! They couldn’t see her till Monday! That is why I’m here! This place is awful, rude and they will not be open long! You will never Keep your doors open with staff like that! Good bye!
Took in a STRAY kitten that was sick. When I called I was told to bring the kitten in and sign surrender papers, even though it was a STRAY, and they wouldnt charge me. Whwn I got there they had me stay and first said itll be 220 plus visit costs to save the kitty. Then they said 806$ plus visit costs but there would be a 60-80% chance itll DIE. i kept telling them it was not my kitty and it was a stray so after arguing with them and saying everything the lady on the phone said wasnt true they would put the stray down and only CHARGE me 90$ but id have to take the remains home. They put me on a payment plan and never gave me the remains so the receiptionist gave me the ok to leave. An hr n half later i get a call saying i wasnt supposed to leave and that the kitten has passed away on its own because they didnt know what I wanted to do and make sure i make my payments. I will never ever pay them! You just let the poor kitty lay there and die instead of putting him out of his pain, then expect me to pay...i dont think so!
We took out pregnant English bulldog. And they were with her immediately and kept us informed through the entire birth of our 7 puppies and the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable .. and Misty the girl that helped us the whole time was great with our dog and great to talk too. I would recommend this place to everyone
We just got a new puppy we had one week and he developed an extreme cough. We called and they were stuck on having to do a parvo test instantly... nothing else until then. We told them we would bring his paper on what vaccinations he has already. We got there and they didnt want the paper and again insisted on doing a parvo test. He already had his vaccination for parvo. Needless to say of course the test was negative THEN they would see him. They are out for money not to mention the long 3 hour wait to be seen by a vet and they werent even busy!!! Would not recommend!!!
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID - My wife and I had a very bad experience at the Stark County Veterinary Emergency Clinic (SCVEC) with our cat. We brought our indoor cat into SCVEC due to the fact that it was limping and our normal veterinarian was closed. The initial estimated cost of $400.00 plus dollars was raised to $500.00 plus dollars when we were informed that our cat was morphine resistant. The SCVEC administered morphine to assist in taking a simple x-ray. Research on the Internet indicates that the use of morphine in cats is very controversial due to the fact that cats do not have the enzyme to metabolize morphine. Administering morphine to cats results in a very heightened state of excitability. SCVEC administered TWO doses of morphine that did not work in calming our cat so that a simple x-ray of her hind leg could be taken. Our cat was then given a dose of propofol . An X-ray was then taken and sent off on the Internet to be read by a unknown radiologist. The radiograph was inconclusive and was not properly marked (tagged). No official radiology report accompanied our results (we found this out later from our normal veterinarian). (Also, our normal veterinarian DOES NOT USE MORPHINE in his practice). Our regular vet took his own X-Ray and found what could be a small hairline fracture in the fibula. Our vet was able to take the X-Ray without any type of sedation. Our cat was actually worse upon returning home from SCVEC. Our cat became very lethargic, would not eat or drink, and eventually became dehydrated. Also, the cat started to run a fever (104.5) which indicated the cat now had an infection. THANKFULLY due to the care and skill of our REGULAR veterinarian, our cat is now starting to heal. Our vet had to retake the X-Rays... administer fluids via an IV bag, administer antibiotics, and force oral feeding of a moist high calorie food.SUMMARY - AVOID this place if at all possible. Go to your regular veterinarian or Google Emergency Veterinarian Green, Ohio . Our cats health actually became worse for going to this poorly staffed emergency clinic. We spent over $500.00 and were there for over 4 hours. Because there is only one veterinarian there, your pet may be under the care of a vet tech who is being directed by this single vet which may be busy with other pet emergencies. NOTE: It is NOT the cost that bothers me the most. It is the level of non-care and inappropriate-care that my pet received at this clinic. Giving our cat morphine for a simple X-ray was a big mistake!!! The vet tech even came out after the second dose of morphine and said that we could simply take the cat and forget the X-Ray if I wanted to because they were unable to get the cat comfortable. Furthermore, our cat was given a take-home drug that our regular vet does NOT use in his practice. Our vet indicated that it makes animals dopey which is exactly the opposite of what we needed when our cat was given an overdose of morphine (total was 1.5mg - Internet states that maximum dose should have been no more than 1.2 mg based on weight) I am contemplating a small claims court action against SCVEC. I simply do not want other pet owners to suffer the anguish that I have suffered with our cat. In my opinion, the costs at SCVEC are EXTREMELY HIGH ($$$$$) and the level of skill for caring for your animal is very low. Note: the level of care and skill may vary depending on what combination of you get at the time of your visit. Is the vet skilled for your type of animal? How many other cases are being looked at? Who is the vet tech at the time of your visit, etc.....
I read the stories most part if your animal is relatively quick fix yes i suppose they are super at it. However, when you have a sick animal such as ours yes they took him back asap at 1:20 and we sat and waited until around 200 i think before tech came out and said he was dehydrated and waiting for doc to look at him.she showed us what is what as to expenses and what we wanted to do so we said do the blood work and urinalysis thats it !she said okay and left so we sat there prob another 25-30 minutes then they came and got us took us to a room doc wanted to talk to us and we waited another 40 so by this time it is around 300 pm he comes in says he has low blood count anemia prob cancer needs blood transfusions yada yada and will do blood work !i said wait you didnt do it yet ? that was over an hour ago she tech said and we agreed. so now our baby our boy has been here for hour n half almost and nothing was done yet !!!!first off they told us he was dehydrated so i said so he is on iv right ? no doc replied i was dumbfounded so for hr n half he was here you knew right away he was dehydrated and no iv ???just want to have us to a blood transfusion well life can sustain on water if he is already deplenished that should be your first action period regardless of anything else secondly : you have your priorities backwards to office procedures when a pet comes in any pet that is lethargic iv should be the first and foremost then blood work then !! not hour n half later because you just wasted precious time for someones pet that could be the time is of the essence no !needless to say we took our baby home they gave him a shot charged a fortune for 30 pills that you can buy off chewy for pennies and then when we received our records it stated in there customers agreed to radiographs as well blood etc etc Well NO !! we did not agree to radiographs which is xrays for all us normal people. I do not appreciate them stating this we did not agree to anything other than blood work.should be ashamed to even put that in there and let alone i saved the best for last since i m deaf i cannot hear very well the tech told my wife well i doubt he will make it by time you get him home.. seriously !!!!!that is totally unacceptable on any level so those who may have had a grand experience with simple things like sprains etc really check the time when you get in there with a sick animal for me they take priority over a sprain or broken nail.we will not ever go there again may have a dence office price but they want to get the main monies for xrays , drugs etc and stupid comments like that no way !!first ivs then blood work should be stated automatically period saves precious time after all would you not want that for your wife, mom, dad son daughter etc ????
Absolute crooks! Dont get me wrong, they took adequate care of my pet, but they know youre desperate to help your animal and they take full advantage of this! They easily chargedo me 3 or 4 times the amount a normal vet would, and that was after I had them drop unnecessary charges from my bill! Very disappointed, and they should be ashamed!
Took my dog their because I believe she ate rat poison wanted to get a test done to she if it was actually in her they check her weight heart and temperature then told me she need treatment for 4 days but couldn’t tell me if it was in her or not wanted to charge me 3000 for something they didn’t even know that was in her but I still got charged 80 bucks for something I could did at home nothing but money they seem to only care about never again will I take any pet i will rather google or YouTube something before I go back. If I could give a 0 I would
This is a very clean and professional establishment. Please keep in mind this is a emergency hospital for pets!! Do not expect your basic vet prices. We had to bring our cat here on Christmas Eve over a life threatening condition and she would not had made it over the holidays until her normal vet office open so it was a true medical emergency. Just be prepared for high cost of treatments!
The lady that helped us was super rude and act like she was super irritated.I have no problem paying for our dogs care. We sat in the waiting room for over 30mins.Working in health care I know your not suppose to eat while helping a client .They were just munching away. We will not go back here. Oh and we were the only ones in the waiting room.
While I could make this review detailed/lengthy, the takeaway is after 2 visits (the 1st visit we were unaware of the careless unfeeling nature of the veterinarian, and the 2nd visit was strictly due to a life/death emergency rather than travel to the next closest ER clinic + 20min further away), we became VERY aware that the SCVEC was both uncompassionate and inconsiderate. Beyond their ludicrous over-charges, snail-like speed of service, and total robotic adherence to the fallacy of safety measures related to the media propagated Covid creation...their staff veterinarian said word-for-word on the phone to us while our dog was IN LABOUR We can either do a c-section, or you can take her and she can continue to push, but Im not all about giving her oxytocin and waiting around 4 hours to see if she gives birth, we close in 15 minutes... NEEDLESS TO SAY WE GOT OUR DOG AND LEFT -- *but we suffered the death of one of our puppies as a direct result of their negligence and refusal to follow-through on the process they started. I guess it was more important to clock out, than care for such an important part of our family we were at their mercy for. LESS THAN 1 STAR WOULD BE APPROPRIATE. // STAY A-W-A-Y
I have unfortunately needed to use this clinic 3x in the past 3 years. Each and every time the staff has been helpful, kind, courteous, knowledgeable.... I am so thankful for the stark county emergency vet. One great perk is they take care credit, no interest for 3? Months.Thank you for taking care of my Windsor.
My friend brought her dog here and has had nothing but problems!! They were INCREDIBLY rude to her not letting her talk and refusing to fix a mistake THEY made operating on her dogs ear!! I am LIVID for her! Save yourself, dont go here!!! Find yourself a vet that actually cares about people and their animals.
Let me start by saying I was nervous to go there due to the bad reviews on Google. However, the staff was amazing and Dr. Knoblich was very understanding and kind. Yes our visit was costly, but it was a Saturday night @ 9:00pm and our fur baby was seriously injured. I would highly recommend this hospital!
Found a stray, starving dog. Could not bring it into my house due to my dog being aggressive towards it. Took it here just to keep overnight until I could take it to the Humane Society but they said it would cost 500 dollars for the night. Seriously! ! And they wouldnt scan for a chip. Told us to let it go. Really horrible place.
I have been to this place a few times, not terribly impressed nor dissatisfied, until I called the other day. I started to ask a question and explain the conditioon of the dog when I was rudely cut off by the receptionist and told there was a two hour wait. I then said ok, I dont care about the wait and continued to try and explain the reason for my call. She again cut me off and stated firmly theres a two hour wait. I then said ok I said I do not care about the wait... do you want us to go somewhere else? Because your not convincing me I should come there! She then said Im just trying to make sure your aware of the two hour wait. To which I said forget it we will just go somewhere else bc clearly you dont want to help me...then she hung up on me! Worst customer service skills Ive witnessed in a while. I will never go back.Went to Green Emergency Vet they were kind, efficient and quick. No wait when we went and the receptionist was patient and sweet. I will take my money there from now on!
Some of the most heartless and cold people I have encountered. The only thing these crooks want is absurd amounts of money. They prey on people who love their animals and gouge them beyond belief. This place needs to be evaluated themselves which is basically a monopoly in this area. Should be named Dewey Cheatum & Howe : Emergency Gouging Vet Clinic. You truly dont care about the animals : all you care about is the almighty dollar. Ill pray for your souls
Had to take our precious kitty here to be euthanized after a lengthy illness. Even though it was close to closing, they told me to take all the time I needed to say goodbye. Dr. Bridges and the staff there showed the utmost compassion and caring during this very difficult time. Thank You.
I would give no stars if I could !!..I took my female pit in for a hematoma and they did surgery said it would fix the problem and same day after stitches came out it filled back up and when I called they didn’t care and said I couldn’t bring her back without paying full price they ONLY care about the money nothing else !!! They were super rude too don’t recommend them at all!!! They wouldn’t even take a look at her after spending over $700 dollars ??!!!
William came in for a horrible arm injury (unknown dog, hawk)... went there & they did not follow any logarithm to get bill home safe Horrible staff, they killed my cat bc the overdoses of antibiotics... he was given at first.. But nothing I could do! They put him in organ failure... which then they refused what was promised to save Bill....he went into organ failure & I held him during his tramatic last breaths.. #billwilliam do NOT let this happen to your fur babies 😻🐶💕😇
I’m just confused on the service they provide , in ther business name it says that it’s an emergency clinic . I tried to bring my dog their because he wasn’t breathing . NO ONE WOULD HELP SO HE PASSED AWAY IN MY CAR . They had told me to drive all the way to Copley Ohio Which was passed Akron . Shame on you guys
Money grubbing heartless mouth breathers must run this place. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE UNLESS THEY ARE SERIOUSLY, SERIOUSLY BAD. They demand payment upfront and charge insane prices. 1,600-1,900 to unblock my cats urinary track. They demanded all the money that night or they wont treat the animal.
Thank you guys... my baby started having seizures... he was rescued and poor thing was too small for this world. They helped him by putting out of his misery... i hated that I couldn’t be there bc of stupid covid rules but you guys were amazing to me and helped me get through it

2022-06-28We took our dog to this emergency hospital…..they took her in gave her oxygen and X-rays….they gave her a diagnosis and medication…..as she is a little older we were concerned that this sickness might be the end. We were told that she will be fine in a few days. Well here it is 18 hours later and my baby has passed. We called the office only to be given attitude and rudeness from the person answering the phone! I do not recommend this place. They have no heart or compassion.

2022-06-14We brought our sweet Sadie in for weekend hospitalization. My regular vet sent her because she was desperately ill and needed serious medical care. I was made aware that her chances were very slim. We wanted to do all we could. Dr. Bridges was wonderful. He took time to explain and make sure our questions were answered. Every single staff member we dealt with were extremely kind and compassionate. There prices are a bit higher than the regular vet, but they are worth every penny and more. They provide fantastic service during the times when no one else is there for you. Sooo very thankful for them!

2022-03-21Beware. Go the extra distance to Metropolitan in Copley.Took my Great Dane in because of excessive bleeding from a tail amputation. They did take her in right away and restitched her. One of the only things I can say good about this place. The woman who called to say she was out of surgery was extremely rude to my husband. Told him “Well if you don’t know what happened to your dog how are we supposed to know what happened to your dog” and swore at my husband (he did swear first). That’s still very unprofessional. She claimed they did not have any documentation. Could not tell us any details of what was done to our dog during the two hours she was inside (nobody can go inside). The vet never spoke to us about what was done. Did offer me wipes to clean my bloody hands because their bathroom was out of order. The girl who brought her out to us was very nice and apologized because she was not there when we brought her in. She offered to see if she could get us some details but we will call our vet when they open. Hopefully they can find out exactly what was done.Overall I feel as though they care more about volume rather than the care and compassion of the animals and their owners. Peoples emotions are running high when they take their pet in for an emergency.I generally never do reviews online for anything but I’m hoping people will heed my warning and go the extra distance and go elsewhere.

2022-01-27Had multiple amazing experiences with the team here. For being an emergency vet the prices are very comparable to our normal vet. Our animals sometimes get hurt at inconvenient hours or on weekends and I can count on them to be honest and up front each time. We unexpectedly had to put our cat down and everyone was very caring and compassionate. They even sent a sympathy card afterwards.

2022-01-07I brought my Sophie in at midnight, convinced I wouldnt be leaving with her. She had a bleeding ulcer. Dr. Bridges was amazing. Every step of the way, he explained what was going on. He knew, with my husband and myself being on disability, what financially we had to work with because of Care Credit and was able to work within the parameters. He gave us so much hope. 3 days later, we are seeing signs of our girl again. Thank you so much! Words cant begin to express how we feel.

2022-03-20This place is a joke! All they care about is making you wait, taking your money and not answering their phone. We called ahead to take our cat there on a weekend and was told it was a 1 hour wait time. We arrive and call to check in and we were then told it was a 4 hour wait time because the vet was going into emergency surgery. We waited in our car for 4 hours and they finally came out to tell us they could take our cat in but it would be another 4 hours or so before he could be seen because the vet was going into surgery. I said We were told the vet was going into surgery 4 hours ago. She stumbled on her words and said well the vet got held up. Our cat ended up having to spend 3 days there and having surgery. It was the worst 3 days trying to get ahold of these people. I spent a straight 3 hours trying to call them for an update and the phone rang busy the entire time. Once they did answer the phone the staff was rude and all they worried about was making sure they told you the cost of the bill so far and getting payment right then and there over the phone. They have no compassion for the pet owner and the trauma ourselves and our cat were going through. Not to mention the cost of the bill was over $3,600. Once our cat was ready to come home they told us to call before we got there to make sure he was ready. We called before we left for an hour drive there and ended up still waiting almost 2 hours for them to bring him out. They said in 10-14 days to bring him back to have his staples removed. We did so and they kept telling us they were to busy for that to call back tomorrow. Very unprofessional and just an all around horrible place! I will NEVER take another one of my pets there and I dont recommend anyone to go there! I wouldnt even give this place 1 star!

2021-08-08About to go pick up our kitty from an overnight stay due to extreme constipation, and I just cannot get over how wonderful the staff was. Everything he needed done was not cheap by any means, but if it means saving our baby boy, I’ll take it. The amount of times the staff reassured me if I wanted to check in on my cat overnight, I could, and that was truly wonderful. They accept Care Credit, which I highly recommend to all as it’s a pretty quick and painless sign up process and gives you some relief to your bank account. We waited awhile, but we also got there when there were a lot of cars there so that was to be expected. They were open and honest anytime I had *kindly* asked for ETA’s to be seen or updates. Hoping to see our baby make a full recovery!

2022-06-12My mom had to make the hardest decision today for her 17 year old dog. She called me afterwards and told me how kind and comforting the doctor and technicians were. They gave my mom time to say goodbye and were gentle with little Marcie. I used to work in the veterinary field and my husband currently works at an emergency vet. We know how hard it can be to remain empathetic and present in that line of work..we have seen the good, the bad, and the extremely horrific. It definitely takes its toll.. So I just want to say thank you to those wonderful people for making a terrible day somewhat easier for my mom..she adopted Marcie 6 years ago and had loved her unconditionally right to the very end. You do make a difference and we see you. ❤️

2022-02-14I would just like to extend my sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff. My boy, Frizz, got very sick and, even though he ended up crossing over the Rainbow Bridge that day, the staff did everything they could to try and save him. They called to give me updates and to keep me informed of what was going on. Im glad he had compassionate people there with him as they helped him along to his final destination. They let me come get his collar and carrier and they gave me as much time as I needed to sit and hold him and to say goodbye to him. They even gave me some ink prints of his paws. Thank you again. Ill miss my boy immensely.
