ATTENTION: FIRST TIME HIKERS at Dale Walborn Reservoir Stark Park. Please make your pre-hike checklist! Be sure to bring water-proof boots, your favorite filled water bottle, your cell phone, and a MAP of the trails. You might also want to bring a compass if you have one. I live near the reservoir, and over the years I have had to help people who get lost on the shoreline and loop trails and end up in the Reeder Ave NE parking lot instead of returning to the marina parking lot on Price St. NE. The trails are not well marked and it is easy to get turned around on your first visit, if you dont know the landmarks. Permanent trails signs and markers should be an Eagle Scout project! Also, there is a restriction for the bald eagle nesting area at the west end of Walborn Reservoir. There are signs and buoys posted in the area, to keep hikers, boaters, and fisherman out of the nesting area. There is an eagles nest viewing area with a limited parking area and a viewing pavilion, accessible from Marlboro Ave. NE. Be courteous and have fun - good hiking!
Super nice place to ride the horses. Everything is well maintained and the paths are really nice.Last time our group went we noticed new signs that recognized hickers had to yield to horses. In a lot of parks its becoming an issue on the horse trails. I am glad that is a thing. I really hope other parks follow suit because I truly believe a lot of people just dont know. :)
Great place to go canoeing with kids. Beautiful scenery, saw lots of blue herons. Staff was very nice and helpful, helped fit us with life jackets, loaded us safely into canoes, and were ready for us on the shore when we returned. They went above and beyond chatting with our kids and giving them a frisbee. $10 to go out on the canoe with our family for 1 hour, great price. The only improvement I would suggest is purchasing one more life jacket for kids under 30 lbs. I recognize thats probably rare, but we were glad we had our own with us.Well definitely be back.
I have come here to rent a Stand-Up Paddleboard several times this summer. The staff is friendly and helpful, the reservoir is peaceful and uncrowded during weekdays, and the experience of being on the water is so relaxing. I love it! I have also hiked some of the trails here, and theyre very nice. Do bring bug spray for hiking in the summer months -- tons of mosquitoes on the hiking trails. I havent needed bug spray out on the water at all, though -- its lovely out there.
Its a nice park for fishing ,hiking and horseback riding. Approximately 7 miles of horse trails. Hunting is limited to bow only with the exception of designated duck blind hunting areas. I believe that there is a 10 HP limit on the lake. I have heard fishing is good at Walborn. Restrooms are available.
Had a picnic out there and everything was great. Trails were awesome, kayaks, grills, staff, and pavilion was clean. Wildlife was amazing. Nice to know we have a place that quiet And you can be one with nature 20 minutes outside of Canton. Like going to Michigan or Alaska
Cant wait for boating season to start. Walborn is the greatest lake for our small fishing boat. No large motors permitted. We can spend a quiet day fishing and relaxing. The marina is great, too. Good hot dogs, snacks, and ice cream treats, too. And the clean rest rooms are a big plus.
Walking the green trail (or at least part of it -the part that just basically looped us around a hay field) was underwhelming, but the blue trail was just gorgeous with a bunch of fungi to explore (but not touch! Especially since alot of it is surrounded by poison ivy)
Saturday was a Stark Park open Bass tournament. They had 25 boats and it was a blast! Great to get outdoors, have fun with a buddy and take 2nd place with a big bag of Dale Walborn Bass! 16.9 pounds for second, over 20 pounds for first. What a great Jewel for all of us
Great little lake with a few islands. You could spend all day canoeing or kayaking around, and find new places to visit. Kayak and canoe rental is easy and affordable. Theres a tiny beach, but swimming is probably not recommended. Plenty of parking, and easy access for any kind of watercraft. Small snack shop, restrooms, picnic shelter.
Do not take your fishing boat here. You will go from 8ft drop offs to less than 1ft of water. Thank god my boat propeller is set up with a shear pin. I broke my shear pin on my motor. This place is only good for kayaks and canoes. My setup is 14ft v-boat with 7.5hp motor and bow mounted trolling motor and transom mounted trolling motor. Please be careful on this lake

2022-06-14Nice relaxing paddle. Didnt catch any fish, but did see some jump out of the water. Saw many birds, a couple turtles and one deer. We brought our own kayaks, but there are rentals available for reasonable rates. There is also a snack bar. The restrooms are clean with flushing toilets. There are walking trails and many little fishing spots.

2021-07-02This is one of my favorite Stark parks! There are nice hiking trails here. My family loves taking a canoe out on the lake. They allow horses. There is a small playground area for small kids. You can fish from the dock. They have a small snack bar. The views of the lake are spectacular!

2019-08-12Nice calm lake for kayaking and SUP. Wasnt overly crowded and I was there on a Summer Sunday. Not a fisher but saw several people casting lines. Spent a couple of hours exploring, its a big lake. Sand beach for kayak launch which I like since the concrete launches scratch up the bottom. Definitely recommend.
