St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store and Donation Center in other cities:
For the past couple months its beginning to look like most thrift stores…unorganized and left-over yard sale junk. Where’s the good items that use to be on the shelves? And the prices are close to retail – seriously, your given this stuff for FREE! And a couple floor staff people can be rude and lots of complaining. Not what it used to be – something has changed!
Love this shop.! Half my wardrobe has come from here...even found a formal dress for our 15 year old daughter for $.49 and it is gorgeous on her. Perfect fit. Last September, my dad needed a suit for our sons wedding. He found a nice black suit, two shirts, and ties, all for under $20!
This used to be an awesome location until they got greedy. Everything is priced at retail if not more. Stuff that used to come in bundles is now individually priced and overvalued. Instead of selling a pack of pencils they separate each pencil and charge you per. $200 for a Dr. Seuss book.Saint Vincent Ebay Outlet.
The furniture personal are awful. Ive been there 2 times, but I wont be there again. We, myself and 2 kids, were shopping in the store and they turned off the lights. Then they realized we were still there and said we had 5 mins. A second later as I was looking for my cart, another employee said we needed to check out, NOW,. I told her I was looking for my cart and she said we put all the carts up. So I threw down what I had in my hand and we left.I felt our business was not wanted. It was beyond rude.I have not had an issue with the Clothing Dept. hence the 2 star rating.
I have donated for the last eight years to this store. I love this store and I usually find what I am looking for. I think now that they have expanded they need to be a bit more organized but with the amount of people who are there at all times it might not be possible.
If you close at 8 then close at 8. Not 7:30, not 7:45 not 7:50 but 8. It’s not right to lock the door early and turn people away when it’s not even 8pm. More so you were asked what time you closed through the door because you had it locked and to top it off you refused to answer him. He had to ask you 4 times for you to finally said 8pm turning him away when it was 7:45. Just wrong. I get it’s Friday night and you don’t want to work but that’s wrong.
The staff is very nice and the store is well organized and clean. My only nitpick is that I can only shop on Saturday and for the last 2 Saturdays there has been 2 women cherrypicking the carts that arrive with new items. They are very rude and block others from looking at the cart. I was even told that one is an employee. Why would SVDP allow this?
Shopping tip....... Employees during the day set aside the good stuff and place it on the cart after 4pm. That way when they get off work they can go buy it. They mark prices that are pennies on the dollar (stealing). Sometimes the pricer has her husband come buy stuff directly and in that case were all out of luck. Too bad management lets this occur.
Need to open another register. At least 3 for when the place is really busy. In a pandemic, people having to stand in long lines is not smart. Also observed an elderly man try to buy a used pair of tennis shoes, nothing special about them to warrant a $12.00 price tag! He walked away without them. For something you guys got for free..$12.00 for used shoes. Really? Your not a department store!
They get all those donations free donations but want to charge 159.99 for a mattress because it was new when given to them. She said well we bought those to resell. Ummm no St Vincent de Paul doesnt work that way pay low dollar so they can make a profit. If thats the case buy my shirt for 2 dollars so you can sell it for 6.99 like you do your free ones given to you
This is the worst St. Vincent I have ever been too. Funiture is not cleaned. Its broken down and very much a impoverished area look to it. They sell items that are broken. And still they want consignment prices here. Things often are for 100+. 100$ for something donated thats covered in dust and cobwebs and has a live bug in it? No thank you.
Easily the best thrift store on the east side of Cincinnati. Large selection of clothing, books, dvds, and household goods. Check the sales board for discounted categories. Have seen some really nice clothing here for reasonable prices. Edited (Oct. 2019) to add: Rating now 4/5 instead of 5/5. Check your items closely to make sure they actually work. Have purchased a few items that didnt including a dvd that wasnt playable. Have seen quite a few items with condition issues here that were not taken into account when pricing so buyer beware.
Ridiculously overpriced, along with unclear pricing. Considering that all of their items have been freely donated...theyre asking for way too much money. I dont think they realize that if theyd lower the cost of everything, theyd be able to empty and refill their stock much faster and ultimately make more of a profit. Thrift stores should be a cheeper alternative. Regular retail prices for second hand items that are in poor condition is only going to hurt them in the long-run. Thrift? Not thrifty to me.
First time visiting this store yesterday. I loved it! Prices were great on most things. Better than the otherSt Vincent de Pauls that Ive been to, and definitely way better than any Goodwill that Ive ever been to. The staff were friendly and helpful. When Im in the area, I will definitely make it a point to stop here again.
I really love shopping @ St. Vincent de Pauls Thrift Store. The only thing is I cannot find any pants to fit me theyre either too small or too big or too short. I like to go there also to see if I can find any antiques too. Sometimes I do find some. You just have to look 👁
I buy a lot of vintage jewelry and like to contribute to local shops. I could not get waited on here. I told them there were several things I wanted to see, they took out one ytay and then ignored me. I asked again for help and they waited on several others paying. If you cant see items how can you buy anything? I wont bother them again.
I occasionally like to purchase jewelry here. I was appalled to learn that an employee and her sister were allowed to purchase over $500 in jewelry before the public had a chance to see it. This is supposed to be a Catholic based charity but is managed like a shady pawn shop.
Vintage costume jewelry and precious jewelry is now priced by an antique jewelry dealer so items are priced as if one is shopping in an antique mall even though one is NOT in an antique mall. Items are as is, not cleaned, missing parts, damaged, etc, which is what one would expect in a thrift store, but one would not expect full retail prices. I found a couple of comparable items online (eBay) priced below the Milfords stores prices (even with shipping) and the advantage is that online I get an item that has been inspected and is fully backed by a return policy if Im unhappy with the item. You dont get that at a thrift store. I can skip this store altogether now and will!
Much more impressed with Good Will.Store looks dirty and old.Had to put donated items in outside bins. They didnt close completely after I placed good clean clothing in them.If it rains the moisture will be a problem. Will take future items to Good Will because they will be kept inside in a cleane and dry space.
It is nicer since the remodeling ...but the prices are too high and are not consistent......you have so much stuff given to you, you would have better sales if you came down...mason jars range from a 1.00 to 4.50 ...i can go to the store and get 12 for 12.00 or less with lids...just for instance...
On July 3rd at 10:30, I visited SVDP and made my first purchase ever at a SVDP. I purchased a $150 dresser that had been discounted to $80. When purchasing the item, I advised the cashier that I could pick up the item in a couple hours when I return with a bigger vehicle. I signed an agreement for same day pick up, the clerk signed the document and I swiped my card. 2 women were looking at the item when I personally placed the SOLD paper (which included purchaser details) on the item. The same two women spoke with an employee T and next I knew, employee T was moving the item from the floor. This being my first purchase, I figured they had asked him a question and then he moved my dresser to another area of the store. I assumed he just moved it based on policy and I did not watch for the dressers location. When returning for pick up at 3PM, the dresser was no where to be found. I requested the dresser to be brought to the front but one manager, three employees (including employee T) started scanning the floor for the dresser. All four searched for 20 mins without success. After employee J reviewed the cash register, the cash receipts, my receipt (which I brought) and my paperwork, I was told by employee J that he would go thru the cameras and fast forward thru the whole day to find out what has happened. I waited for 30 additional minutes to hear that we cant see anything, we cant even see you in the store at that time. They requested my number and told me the manager would call me in a couple hours after she spoke with her boss.By 7PM I still had not heard back and called twice. I returned to the store at that time to find two of the same employees there (including employee J). I requested the dresser of my money back since we all signed a same day agreement. They told me that they hadnt figured anything out, told me that I have to wait to here from the manager that had left (without calling me) bc she is reviewing the video tapes and apologized. I requested a manager and the money but was told I would have to wait bc they couldnt help and only have a key to the store. Wierd bc I waited 30 mins earlier in the day for them to review video tapes... I then walked to the other store, requested a manager and employee J showed up. The same employee J who purposely lead me to believe he wasnt a manager. He acted like he wasnt a manager and the employees at that store was like you are a manager right? And he said yeah but he has to wait... So I Called back on July 4th, and called again. Employee J then called me and left a voicemail confirming he was a manager who could give me the money back plus a $20 store credit. I called back and spoke with him and arranged to come in. When I returned, Employee T was the one who reswiped my card and issued the credit. The same employee who moved the dresser, yet couldnt remember the item or what happened. So not only was there three managers (the manager, employee J and emplooee T) who could have issued an immediate refund the first time, they apparently didnt check the cameras the first time... There were two managers (employee J and T) the second time I returned since not one of the three called me about my disappeared purchase. Two that couldnt help. Altho I did get my money back and a credit, I do not plan on returning. I would not recommend this store- no one saw the piece get loaded in someone elses truck? No one requested a receipt from who ever took the dresser? The cameras couldnt see me or my brother in THE ENTIRE store? The cameras couldnt see the cash register or the front doors? The cameras couldnt see employee T move the dresser?... Nothing about this situation made sense, something is wrong here and god forbid something happen and the cameras nor the employees will be able to see what happened? The store isnt even safe...

2022-07-17Pretty good thrift store! Sometimes the prices are a little high on some items, but total deals on others. This store is always packed with tons of cool items (and people). I have found awesome furniture, great kitchenware, and vintage clothing in my years shopping here. The employees work hard and are always pretty friendly.

2022-04-19Prices are high an inconsistent. Meaning one coffee cup could be 75 cents but another one exactly the same will be 2 dollars. ALWAYS REMIND THE STAFF WHATS ON SALE WHEN CHECKING OUT. Dont know how many times they didnt ring up items right that were supposed to be discounted. Why have sales if we dont get them. Staff is 50/50. Some are nice and some (mostly higher ups) are rude and greedy. Just a few checks to think of. Other than that, go here almost everyday. Lots of stuff to find.

2021-03-15This place is split into two stores. The original store has a bunch of furniture and stuff you would find in a garage or attic. Well organized but would be nice for better prices or discounts. The clothing store has a bunch of clothes for the whole family, shoes, dishes, and other goodies.

2021-11-06I love this store and have donated multiple times. The only frustration I have is with their book sections. I can never find anything. There needs to be some kind of organization. Just by author would be great as that is usually how I look at them. Other than that great

2022-07-01DO NOT DONATE TO THIS STORE. Watched an employees sister purchase sterling silver and original oil paintings for $1 each. These items were brought out of the back room and handed to her just before closing. I complained and was told it would be addressed. A couple weeks later shes handed sterling silver from the back room again! Complained again, nothing happened! Organized theft ring and management does nothing.

2021-07-27They have great deals and great workers. Always happy to help you with prices and to help load and unload your car. You can donate anything and they wont refuse it unless its stained, ripped, or has dog hair all over it. Other than that anything is what they take. The store clothing is colored and sized. Everythinf is its own row like short sleeves, long sleeves and shorts, skirts, pants. Then in the back is there Plus sizes. They always have two colors on sell a week. One is 1.49 and the other is 2.49. They have a white dry erase broad with other items that are on sell. There is two buildings one is clothing and small appliances. The other is furniture and big items. You will love how organized the stores are. Hope this helps

2022-04-07Great store, reasonable prices. Clothes a little expensive for used.
