Service was really nice. The medium rare steak I ordered was blood raw. Staff replaced it with a properly cooked steak which was almost edible. The seasoning was good but thats all I can say positive. We fed the rest to our dog.The old fashioned cocktails we ordered were basically straight bourbon. The schick giant ice they put in them for appearance defeat the purpose of adding water which is needed in this drink.Kroger has better steaks. I hate to be this negative about a local establishment but Id never go back.
We went for the first time tonight and everything was amazing! We had the bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer and they are a must try. My wife got the Bourbon Glazed Salmon and she loved it.I got a 12oz NY Strip and it was grilled to perfection, very juicy, and cooked exactly how I asked for it to be.The salads were great, you have to try the Bacon Vinaigrette! The jalapeño coleslaw was the best coleslaw I’ve ever had in my life. The drinks were on point as to their description!Braden was our server and he was very prompt, polite, knowledgeable, and friendly. Very large portions for the price and worth every penny! Keep up the great work Speakeasy Staff! We will be back!
Server initially said there was a 10-20 min wait. Then we were offered the bar or a table.Craft beer (IPL) was very good but would have even been better if were a bit more cold out of the tap. Staff was very friendly in helping make a choice and offering samples of the various craft beers. Clearly Everyone Wants Some (IPL) is definitely a win if you enjoy great flavor.Ordered the shrip cocktail for an appetizer. Cocktail was delived timely and had a plesant presentation. Martini glassware with green leaf trim, cocktail sauce filled , and large shrip that rested on green leaf around the trim.Entree was a 30oz med-rare bone in porterhouse with 5 oz Maine lobster tail and asparagus. Steak was well prepared and needed no sauce. It is a true task to find a place where you dont NEED (not want) steak sauce due to either dry or flavorless meat. The lobster tasted great with the melted butter, but left sonething to be desired if ate alone. It had a bit of a chew if consumed as prepared without any dipping butter. The asparagus was spot on. Well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The slight glaze and crunch was prefect. No over-cooked mush at the Speakeasy. Finally to desert. Tiramisu was ordered with an oldfashioned. Took a bit longer than told, but still arrived fairly timely. The tiramisu was served slightly chilled with a chocolate drizzle. A true delight not too often found. The old fashioned was nice but a bit on the strong and bitter side. Would have been better if the balance could have been met.Over all the staff was friendly yet seemed a bit slow, especially for the small size of the place. Food was well prepared overall and nicely presented. I would certainly give this place a round 2.
Ordered grilled chicken with rosemary... they need to call it what it really is... precooked chicken heated up in microwave tough and chewy. Mac and cheese that was good. Coke was nasty... they need to have their system serviced the lines are dirty and you can taste it. Someone else got new York strip medium and it was over cooked it was well. Server had to be flagged down twice before he came to table.
Excellent food. Fantastic beer wine and drink selection. Atmosphere decor and music is fitting for the name. Service is top notch. Seating is spaced appropriately allowing for conversation without having to raise voices. All in all a perfect destination for a great night out! Took only one visit to place towards the top of the favorite restaurant list!
This place wasn’t as good as I thought it would be! And for the price everything should’ve been great! Ordered steak well done it was still bloody, the asparagus were tiny little pieces. And the service wasn’t very good! Had to wait for refills! But I would have to say the filet kebabs were awesome. Don’t think I’ll waste my time going back
Not a steak house ..... There are many great things about dining at Speakeasy -- the salads are really great and the parmesan fries are best Ive had. The ambiance is very nice. But do not order filet mignon kabobs. Twice Ive ordered this and twice Ive been disappointed. The steak pieces were full of grissel, hard to cut and harder to chew. I paid $24 for a meal I could not eat.Why did I order this a on a second visit? I figured the first time was a fluke. Its too bad they dont order meat locally as opposed to ordering it from who knows where? Guess they are going where its cheap and you get what you pay for. Its awful and its over priced. This is a great place if you want to stop in for a drink and an appetizer, or a salad. Im sure other items are good, but dont order the filet kabobs. We wont be going back anytime soon. Speakeasy is NOT a great steak house. Lesson learned.
Walked in at 5:15, was promptly seated and got drinks. Placed our order and waited and waited, and waited. Our food was served at 6:30...stone cold. The kitchen staff was blamed, but Im sure the food was cold because it wasnt served in a timely manner. We complained about the cold food, it was taken away and returned in 5 minutes. It was obviously the same food, microwaved to reheat it. The chicken was rubbery and the steak was tough...thats what microwaving does. The owner came and talked with us and comped our meals. That was very generous.
This place was absolutely fantastic. The food was amazing, I recommend the Ghost Pepper Burger. Their beer selection was absurd, they had so many IPAs and things Id never heard of. Service from the waitress was great; the kitchen messed up a few small things, she handled it all well and with a smile. A fantastic place
1st time dining here and wont be my last! Service was very welcoming and our Waiter was on point and provided perfect service throughout meal. Enjoyed the atmosphere of the resteraunt and all the food items were cooked perfectly. I had 8oz NYS medium rare with scallops, asparagus and jalepeno coleslaw. Try the bourbon bread pudding...doesnt dissapoint! Will return!
As an out of town patron, our family decided to try this as a dinner place. The bourbon selection is excellent, which is rare when outside of Louisville or Kentucky (hometown). The whole staff was accommodating, the scallops entree and filet entree were absolutely superb. Might stop by again if we have time! Absolutely excellent experience.
We went for our Anniversary.I ordered the lobster tail.It came out half cooked.Sent it back and when it came back it just looked terrible!I didnt eat it, and told the waitress when she finally came back I was not paying for that. Terrible experience, especially on a special occasion!I was VERY disappointed.Service was not very good either. Will never go back!
Service was great! I had the bison burger and really enjoyed it. My wife had the New York strip. It was cooked exactly the way she ordered. Excellent. Large selection of craft beers, both draft and bottles. 20s music in the background, not overbearing. Very nice looking bar. Will definitely be going back!
First time here. When they brought my fillet I noticed it was small. I did not complain. The taste was amazing. Shortly after our waiter shows up with another plate with a fillet and says the kitchen noticed they sent you a very small cut of meat, here is another on the house . That is service. The food was very good. The desserts were also delicious. Recommend the place with out reservations.
Service was great very friendly. Had the porter house steak. Not a fan for 38 dollar was about 7 dollar piece of meat very poor quality. They did take care of some of the bill for us. Wont stop me from going again just might of got a bad cut of meat in. Will be back soon to try the place out soon
Amazing food! The Bison Burger has got to be my top burger Ive ever had the the steak there is just delicious. The Salmon has also got to be the best Salmon Ive ever had and is for sure the best Salmon you can get in Ohio! Not to mention the bacon wrapped scallops which I get every time I go and eat from there along with the Mac n cheese! I definitely recommend this place if your going to dine somewhere! I mean I cant pass by it without stopping to eat, its just that good!
Fantastic experience, 2 visits down and 0 disappointment. I ordered the filet both times, the quality was fantastic and it was cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered. The salad with housemade bacon vinaigrette was delicious, mac and cheese as well. Service was on point and great liquor selection! We will be back.
Its like being in a downtown Chicago restaurant but right in Celina. You wont get better frog legs anywhere and the drinks are awesome. Finally, a margarita that isnt made with margarita mix! Actually, a real margarita. Those are hard to come by! We visit this place often and would encourage anyone to check it out.
Best beer and bourbon menu around with hard to find drinks. It helps that the bartender knows the proper way to serve a bourbon (finally someone gets it!). The food and service is a big step above what you can get elsewhere, and I love the classy 1920s atmosphere. A lot sounded really good on the menu, so will definately be coming back!
Extremely professional staff! Food was prepared by order. Served up hot and fresh. Very delicious. Speakeasy Ale and Steak House has definitely done its homework finding a wonderfull assortment of ales and lagers, to match its unique style and flavorings. I have never been dissatisfied by anything that has crossed my pallet.
Let’s me say, the food was delicious. But that’s the only good thing I can say about this place. Our service was terrible, and our party of 8 sat at a plastic table with folding chairs like we were at grandma and grandpa’s for Christmas. It was weird and cheap. We were put in a dark and dank backroom that had very low ceilings and looked like an old abandoned Mexican restaurant. They apparently don’t take reservations, but when I used their call ahead option at 5:00, to let them know we would have a large party coming at 7:00, they were sure that they would not have room for us until 8:00 or 830. But how would they know that if they didn’t take reservations? Like I said, the food was great, but it just gave off a very weird and cheap vibe.
Awesome atmosphere and amazing craft beer list. My husband and I both got the ribeyes and they were huge and cooked perfectly. The server was friendly and attentive, and the bread pudding was soooo good! The bartender made a great cosmopolitan. I dont mind paying more for good food and service - its great to have such a classy steak restaurant in the area. Will definitely be back!
Waitress forgot about us and the place wasnt even busy. I was looking forward to the sirloin steak special, but when we finally got to order, the cane back 10 minutes later and told us they had no sirloin. Fine well take the New York Strip with mashed potatoes. 5 minutes later, they say the mashed potatoes are not any good, would you like something else. Check please! The complimentary bread and butter was good but the service was horrible. Maybe they were just having a bad day. I dont know.
Visited to Celina for work, stopped in here by random. Happened to be perfect timing for trivia night on wed.The medium filet was perfect and absolutely the best Ive ever had.The flight of beer was delicious.Note to self dont check out till after trivia is done, in case you win. (I got 2nd, all but myself but gave away my winnings)
Great food and huge selection of alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages. Bison burger was amazing. Jalapeno slaw and gouda on top was great compliment. Bacon wrapped scallops cooked to perfection. Must visit. If you dont like the food here, I will literally fight you and Im a big guy.
The food was alright, expected better. They did run out of a few things that was supposed to go with the meals. Service was ok tho...I guess from what I have heard from lots of people that it was an awesome place to eat, I would say its just average, isnt the best steak I have had, ...Very high prices
TERRIBLE service. Walked in, was told a 30 min wait. 3 min later sat us. 10 min later a waiter walked by and put the bread on our table, another 10 min went by and still no waiter asked what we wanted to drink or anything. The foods expensive, small selection and would have spent about $100 on date night at this place, if only we were even noticed because Ill pay good money for a steak. Around 9 waiters were walking around, 2 tables empty and had ABSOLUTELY no service. We got up after waiting a total of 25 min and went to a different location to eat.
To start with the shrimp tacos were AMAZING. No where else around here can you get a dirty martini, a cold Bohemia, and I would guess about 200 other unique brews, with great service from incredibly accommodating, open minded cool people ....while chilling to the Dave Brubeck Trio.
This was my frist time there. The food was PERFECT! Im so glad I stop by. The only bad thing is that they were out of alot of items i wanted to try ...... by 9pm?! This is not a good look!!!!!!! I think management really underestimate how good they really are! Having a Blueberry Moscow Mull made it better😀 I will be back to try those items they ran out of!
The first time we was there wasnt the best as it was new. So thought we would wait till they got use to everything.everyone been saying how good it is so thought we would try again after a long day. Working. Waited 45 mln for table gave them our order setting there waiting on food they came and said you have to move we have a big party that needs this seat . So we left and will not go back . There loss .
Its not a bad place as far as a bar goes. Good selection of beer. Food is way over priced. Freezer pre packaged steaks that were mostly grizzle and fat starting at $17. Baked potato was cold. I would recommend beer and tenders from the kids meal unless you enjoy dissapointment.
Wife and I had our anniversary there this evening. It was very underwhelming, as I had hoped it would be as good as everyone said it was. The bacon wrapped scallops were delicious, especially with apps being half off. The drinks were good. I ordered a filet medium and wife ordered the Bone in ribeye medium. Her steak was cooked just fine, my 8 oz filet (which was a cheap cut of meat that looked like a hamburger for $32) was brought out well done and no asparagus. I brought it to the servers attention, and she was apologetic and offered to have a new one remade. She brings out the new one and one cut into it....it was rare, like purple rare with a cool center rare. At this point I wasnt going to complain and just eat it, and honestly had it been mid rare, I would have. Alas I couldnt do it. We brought it back to servers attention, and she was once again apologetic. She took the Filet and Lobster tail off the bill. She did ask if we wanted to eat the poorly cooked steaks as well. We declined and instead of risking a third miscooked filet, I just ordered a bison burger. It too was cooked well done, bit at this point we were just ready to finish and leave. They did take the filet/lobster off the bill l, however the bison burger we paid for. Looking back I wish I hadnt ordered it and cut my losses. Not once did a member of management come out and apologize or offer an explanation. We did see the owner there so I assume he was in charge, but I dont know since he never spoke with us.Like I said, I really wanted to like this place, but I just cant see us returning.

2022-07-10The restaurant was fairly nice inside however the service was terrible. When the brought our salads we had remind the person that we still didnt have silverware. Then the waiter asked if we would like bread and we said yes. We never did get bread with our salad or dinner. I ordered ribeye steak medium rare, it was well done. My wife and I both ran out of water about half way through our meal. Our waiter never came by to see if we needed anything. I still tipped the waiter 10% but he didnt deserve it.

2022-06-18We LOVE everything about this place. Located in this century-plus old building with original touches from the “Speak Easy” days. Music from this period enhances the ambience and takes you back in time. The food is fabulous. The salmon and scallops are winners. Check out the fresh & summery cocktail menu. Highly recommend this place/experience .Note: At this point in time, every retail business is operating seriously understaffed and working very hard to just keep the doors open. If you cannot exercise reasonable patience and understanding for their limitations, rather than complain …..stay HOME.

2022-07-03Cute restaurant. Food was ok. Arrived before my party, explained there would be a group of us and would they be able to accommodate us? Yeah sure, no we should be able to do that. Ok, cool. So I sat and waited an hour, the rest of the group came in. Then they said they weren’t sure if they had room for us! Are you kidding me?! I’ve been here an hour, you knew we were all coming, then you’re bold enough to say they don’t know if they have room for us? Why didn’t you tell me that when I first asked? I could have went elsewhere. Next time I will. I won’t be back.

2022-07-17This place is an ok, maybe a ,once a year, place to go. We had some family come in from out of town and we decided to go here for one of the family members birthday on a Sunday. The food was pretty good but just like any other steak house. Service on the other hand was very slow getting out drinks, taking our orders, ect. Very polite but very slow. Cant imagine, if the place was full, how long things would take. At one point I had to check to see about my sons drink order. I was told we are backed up at the moment. Now I want to say they had maybe 4 tables including ours at that point. So not sure how that made them busy but ok. The food came out at a reasonable time though which was good. All in all, it is a decent place to go and we will be back. We just definitely know it will take a while if we do.

2022-03-19Filet was cooked perfectly. Salad was fresh and well prepared. Bread was not special just ok. The side of slaw didnt taste fresh. Other than that I really enjoyed the ambiance. Soft music soft lighting very laid back. Located in an older building downtown so it has a lot of character. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
