Amazing doesnt begin to describe this place. From the staff and atmosphere to the amazing dishes coming out of the kitchen, everything feels right.Stopped in during a road trip 10 days ago, and im planning my third visit already.Yesterday we stopped in for some JFCs and a beverage, and took the rest of our meal back to Columbus. Everything was just as good at home at it was in the restaurant. I cant recommend this place more to my friends, and with the variety of ramen shops in Columbus, this place is always worth the drive over local.Picture is extra pork belly on the side, after the 45 min drive.
Spectacular!!! As one reviewer said - “a very unassuming place” but, oh!! What a diamond in the rough!! Everything lovingly and beautifully presented! And the taste?? Whoa!! Perfection!!We ordered Takoyaki and Tonkotsu Ramen. I could not have been happier!I also had the Rosemary Spritz drink and it was amazing- light, fizzy, crisp.I can’t wait to come back!! (Tap the photos so you can really get a good look!! 🤩)
This place is about 45 minutes away for us and its absolutely amazing! Definitely worth the drive. We took the family a couple days ago and it was absolutely the best bowl of soup I have ever had in my entire life. We had a couple of the house cocktails everything was fresh and original. It definitely plan to go back!
Christian bros recently collaborated with Speakeasy Ramen and makes their own smoked pork belly and broth for the Smoked Tonkotsu Ramen and let me tell you…it’s so good! Our family lives almost 40 minutes away from the restaurant and we’ve ordered to-go three times this week. Please don’t keep this as a limited menu item!!! It’s hands down the best ramen I’ve had in Dayton.
This place is beyond your diamond in the rough, this place is a true gem. There complex flavor pairings, traditional recipes, fresh ingredients, and wonderful staff cant be beat. They have earned themselves a repeat customer and I will do my best to spread the word on the great food and atmosphere at Speakeasy Ramen. If there is a long line, please do yourself a favor and wait...I promise its worth your time.
Been going to Speakeasy Ramen for about 2 years. My wife and I agree that we have never had a bad meal here. The food is fresh, inventive and so full of flavor. The service is always spot on. I can recommend anything on the menu and you wont be disappointed. I try something different just about every time I go in. The beer selection is always changing with truly local craft beers and they make great mixed drinks. Look forward to going back every time I go!
Wow - what a great place! The pork belly buns were amazing and the shrimp ramen was as well. Definitely more of an experience than you expect!! The dive bar vibe is fun, and plenty of outdoor seating if youre distancing. Will definitely do again when we are in the area!
Excellent food and service. We went with a large party and ended up ordering almost everything on the menu. It was all fantastic. Other reviewers posted about the decor. I find that odd considering they proclaim themselves to be a dive! Not sure what they were expecting but it’s well represented as is! We will 100% be back!
So I travel long distances for ramen 🍜 and id have to say this is one of the best spots I been to 💯 not to authentic but very laid back and friendly 😊 I recommend the Takoyaki as a appetizer And for there ramen cant go wrong with the Tonkotsu! If your feeling extra hungry and want to take A snack home get those ribs they are worth trying they were also very good over all I would come here alot if I could 😭😭😂😂☺️☺️
The lady taking the order seemed nice. My teen said they liked the food. I dont know how to explain it, but the atmosphere just raised my hackles like nails on a chalkboard. I mean no harm, not so much a judging a book by its cover, but a vibe kind of made me relieved to leave. I dont mean to be negative, but thats just how I felt. 😶
Small, cozy place with plenty of uncovered outdoor seating when weather permits. Indoor seating limited. Look at the menu online before arriving as they do not pass out menus due to covid. Not a large menu but everything was delicious! Specials change daily. Appeared to have a full bar with decent selection of craft beers including local brews. Only kids menu item is noodles with broth so picky kids might want to eat before coming with parents.
This place is absolutely amazing! They are pretty busy on Fridays and Saturdays, and you might have to wait outside, but its worth the wait. I got the Thai Curry Ramen, the pork belly taco and the fried chicken taco, and they were all excellent!Their menu changes often, but if you can get these items, you wont be disappointed. The rotating menu its great for the variety, but if you find something you like, it might be while before you can get it again. Thankfully just about everything on the menu is super tasty!
I am in love with the Szechuan ramen! Its perfect in every way and the tea brine eggs are my favorite part. I love the JFC tacos and the specials they always have. The marine salad is amazing if you like sashimi. The 1st picture posted is the salmon carpaccio which is just beautifully crafted and similar to the marine salad. The chicken wings when they have them are the best, especially with the boom boom sauce. The chef is a genius and im so glad this place is around.
The flavors! Rich broths that make great bases to their pho and the Bahn Mi was amazing! Fries were seasoned and crispy. Would ask for the Bahn mi bread to be toasted more(especially for take out) but then the sandwich would be perfect! Tried it with the catfish and was pleasantly surprised. Eat here!
Delicious! We had a great time. Good selection of local beers and the cocktail menu was fun and creative. We had the pork bao, two of the sushi rolls, curry ramen, tonkatsu ramen, and ban mi. Everything was delicious. Would recommend coming on a night when sushi is available.
My family and I stopped in late on a Saturday morning (right around open) after a run out to Columbus and back. So well start with the good news. The service was attentive and patient, but clearly overworked. My wife had the Thai Curry Ramen. It was wonderful. Deep and flavorful; umami and sweet and silky. The noodles were just the right amount of toothsome. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly. However, the lime slices were overripe and not well cleaned (one slice still had part of its produce sticker). My son ordered the plain noodles with pork belly and a tea egg. While I only got to try a little bit of the pork belly (twas quite tasty!), my son reported high level of satisfaction.Along with my bowl (which Ill get into in a moment), I ordered one of the $7.00 bao buns. It was less a bao bun and more a Thai pulled pork taco in a steamed yeast soft-shell. Not bad, but it didnt strike me as a bao bun. Cant recommend it for the price. Now for the bad news. For my lunch, I ordered the Szechuan Ramen. The noodles were perfectly cooked, but thats all I can compliment. At the time, I was warned that the Szechuan Ramen is spicy: a 6 or 7 out of 10. It wasnt. Its spice level was a 2/10 at the spiciest. Meanwhile, its flavor was very disappointing. It had no flavor besides the chili oil floating on top. And the oil coated my mouth, somehow leaving a soapy aftertaste. I wasnt able to get the dishwasher flavor out of my mouth without slamming the remainder of my water.Summary:Thai Curry Ramen: ✅Make-your-own from the plain noodles: ✅Bao buns: 😔Szechuan Ramen: ❌
Amazing! Small quaint little ramen and sushi shop. I cant wait to come back to try some of the sushi! I got the curry ramen and it was great.Just make sure if youre coming on the weekend you dont come too close to close. Theres not much seating here! Definitely give them a try tho!
I got the Tonkotsu Ramen and the Shrimp Rangoons. Wasnt a huge fan of the Rangoons. They just kinda tasted like spicy cream cheese to me, idk. I think that was just a personal preference. The ramen had a good, rich, creamy broth and the toppings were generous and delicious. My only complaint in that regard was that the noodles were a little overcooked. I dont like soggy noodles in my ramen lol, but they were still good. Overall, a really good place with fair pricing. Definitely worth a visit.
Walking up to this restaurant brings up images of the old neighborhood bar and the entrance is a little tight. I had the Thai Curry Ramon, it had a little spice which gave it great flavor and a beautiful presentation. Add a local brew and you have one if the best meals in town.
This is a cool place to go for a bite to eat. The bar had plenty of selections and the ramen is really tasty. They have good social distancing methods in place, so space might be a bit limited at times. The ramen and pork belly tacos were really good, but a bit salty do its not something I can eat too often. But if you want ramen, they cant be beat! The staff was very nice as well and provided great service.
This ramen place is a great addition to Springfield, OH. It still has Nifty 50 on the outside, but dont let the outside fool you! Very different on the inside. My four friends and I visited this place on a Wednesday night, a week or so after they opened. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is inviting, the beers on tap are yummy, and the food is amazing.Definitely recommend, we will 100% come back for the ramen when they have it on their menu in a week or two.
The first time I went, I made sure to try a good portion of the menu. In total we tried tonkatsu ramen, Thai curry ramen, half-rack of ribs, pork belly bao, and Shanghai chicken bao. I will say, I am very impressed. Tonkatsu ramen is by far my favorite type of ramen and I believe I have now found my favorite place to purchase! Everything on the menu was delicious, including the cocktails we got as well. I live about 40 minutes away from the location so the second time I visited, I ordered for pickup. One thing I always search for in restaurants is consistency. I was very pleased to find that I received the same quality from my first experience there.
We got there before 5. Party of 12! Had to sit at separate tables because they dont have room for a big long table like that. It would have been a really long wait if we had come after 5:30. This was on the day after Christmas 2019. A Thursday night! Rangoon was really cheesy. Some in our group thought it tasted like it had Velveeta in it. It was very different. Good! Also ordered their last few orders of spicy wings. They nailed it. Very spicy but Not too spicy. Beer and wine selection is excellent. Just because its on the menu doesnt mean its in stock☺️ JFG tacos were excellent. My wife hates seafood and prefers less adventurous food, but she liked the tacos a lot. I ordered Thai coconut curry with GF Noodles. They nailed it. It was amazing. I was supposed to share with my sister and she was supposed to share her Tonkatsu but mine was so good I couldnt share. Also she didnt get the GF Noodles. I tasted the Tonkatsu. It was great but the Thai coconut curry was amazing. In the Tonkatsu, I could really tell the noodles were homemade. Tasted fresh. Server was very nice guy. Food took a while longer than expected but it was worth it for the GF Noodles I ordered. Fun vibe in an otherwise sad neighborhood. Hopefully the vibe spills out into the neighborhood.
The staff was AWESOME!!! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The drinks and food were AMAZING!!!! The only thing that would make this experience any better would be a few more offerings on the menu. I love that its a small, unassuming neighborhood place. Definitely will be returning for more. My complements to the chef
Speakeasy Ramen was so so good! My husband and I got a half rack of the ribs and we both got the tonkotsu ramen with extra mayu (black garlic oil). The ribs were super moist after braising and then quickly fried...then drizzled with a sweet glaze on top of some cabbage slaw. It was delicious! The pork belly in the ramen was fatty and crispy- loved it! The noodles had a great chew to them and the broth was rich and flavorful. So glad we found this place. I cant wait to go back!
Located in Springfield, I have to admit, I wasnt expecting much. But they delivered. The sushi was well presented and quite tasty. Odd location, but interior is cozy. Lots of older folks day drinking at 1pm. Came for ramen, but at $16 for ramen I chose the sushi instead.
Me and my fiance decided to grab dinner here. Its in A slightly sketchy part of town but its well worth the vist. The tonkotsu ramen was good and id die for the ribs again they were divine! Would love more options for non-alcoholic bevs thou. Worth a visit if your in the area and want to feel welcomed and love ramen.
Had the noodle bowl, little spicy. WOW, tasted very spicy to me but good flavor. I enjoyed. Great service. Very informative of the menu and selection. Great little place. Menu is a little limited right now. Service is fast. Try it out.Had some take out from speak easy today. Had the opportunity to try the double California roll. It was excellent. I highly recommend that roll. Im coming back for more sushi. Pretty good ribs as well.
A ramen spot in Springfield, OH!? As a native I had to check it out. Absolutely impressed. I opted for the Thai curry ramen and an order of rangoon. The ramen was cooked perfectly, the broth was rich and flavorful without being over salted. Delicious soy sauce egg, enoki mushrooms and pickled bamboo shoots. The rangoon were stuffed with cream cheese and shriracha sauce, a little salty but still tasty. Lots of local brews available along with wines and sakes. Best of all, not overpriced for the serving sizes. Will certainly be back for more.
The Speakeasy Ramen is a wonderful new restaurant in Springfield, and Im so glad its here! The food is so good- I would especially recommend the Squash Blossom. The shrimp Rangoons were not a personal favorite but my friends I was eating with really loved them. The staff and chef were so friendly and helpful. Looking forward to returning soon!
Wow. What?! I dont even know how to begin describing the event that is Speak Easy Ramen.I couldnt believe the depth of flavors in these dishes. We enjoyed the Fried Mushrooms, the Sticky Rice, JFC Moo Shoo, the Noodle Bowl (perfect spicy level) and a couple special cocktails like the Forbidden Sour, Jalapeno Margarita, and the Island Mule. After tonights visit Im already trying to figure out who I can bring back and how quickly it can get added to the calendar.Yuuuuuuummmmmmmm.
I generally only post great reviews but here, well, its a Real mixed bag:Friendly staff ***** 5Presentation *****5Bonita sushi roll ***** 5Thai ramen ***** 5 so far so goodTonk Ramen ***3All ramen was ice cold and the broth was not quite lukewarm. Is it supposed to be that way? I wouldnt think so. 0*This is the fourth time we tried to eat here and our first successful attempt. We have allowed a lot of grace because of covid issues in a small busineas. I REALLY wanted to like the food. I loved the sushi but the pork belly ramen was, well, just not good. I ordered online, picked it up exactly when they said to, and went straight home. I think because it was 11 am up some things were leftover? Not sure. I am not afraid of $46 but not for cold food.If you like sushi, go for it, but definitely not to go.
I can not describe in words how delicious this place is. Its amazing. It is my favorite place. I drive from Jamestown to come. To say the chef is 5 star would be an understatement. The menu changes frequently and you will never be disappointed. If you havent been....go!
I spent a long time thinking, and I can not remember a single bowl of ramen better then the one I had here today. This was an incredible experience, and easily the best bowl of noodles you can get this half of the state. The sushi was top notch, the tap selection was incredible, and that ramen was so good Ill likely be back tomorrow.Go here, just go, now. Dont wait. Stop reading, tap the directions button, and go. Bring a friend, bring two. Youre still here, why? You could be having this ramen. Life is too short to not enjoy something like this.
I am overwhelmed by how great a dining experience my family had on our first visit. At the recommendation of a friend, we went out to Speakeasy Ramen for my birthday. The staff could not have been more courteous or the food any better. The Philly Roll was so good, we ordered another to go. The Pork Ramen is an amazing group of food and noodles I never knew went together. Check out this hidden gem in Springfield. You will not regret it!
Ordered through door dash. They forgot an item I ordered yet again. When calling them, they flippantly said they wondered who the item belonged to. If you can’t be organized enough to know who has that item and blame me for ordering it, don’t expect me to order from you anymore. Absolutely mediocre service for overpriced noodles.
They say places in the middle of nowhere are usually the best, and this place proves that. The menu is not huge but everything we had was awesome. The takoyaki was to die for, my son drooled through his tonkatsu ramen, and my thai curry ramen was delicious. I am only sorry the place is almost 3 hours away from my house, but Im glad I found it during our mini road trip.
This has been the best dining experience Ive ever had! The food was amazing and came out quickly; staff was extremely friendly and fun to talk to; the location and interior are humble and cozy; it feels like youre going to a cliché movie bar, where everyone knows your name! The foods a little pricey, but for what it is and the experience you get, its entirely worth it! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a homespun, traditional, and delicious place to spend the night!
Have been following this place for over a year but havent been to Springfield area for anything. Finally made it in, and it was everything wed hoped. The ramen was way more elaborate than anticipated, great presentation and that broth was heavenly. The rolls were excellent, and the cocktails hit the spot. Will definitely be back.
We just visited for the first time. I cant believe weve put off going here for so long! The staff was very friendly, and the food was really unique in all the best ways. The atmosphere was almost perfect for a ramen dive. It does need some decoration work, but the neon lights are the right direction to go! I highly recommend the spicy sake slammer! Were definitely adding the Speakeasy to our dinner rotation.
Speakeasy Ramen is AMAZING. No matter what else you do in Springfield, you have to visit. The food is flavorful and has a variety of heat levels. The chef changes the menu seasonally, so make sure you visit quickly to try whatever is his newest dish. Definitely recommend!
Amazing food! I can’t say enough about this place. I felt like we ended up trying everything on the menu. The Infinity Roll was amazing and so good. Be ready to fill up just on that! The JFC Taco is so tasty and the flavors work perfectly together. The Bonito roll was crispy and super flavorful. We had the Tonkatsu Ramen and it was as tasty as it was beautiful. Please, if you can take the time to check this place out, come hungry! You won’t be disappointed!!
I was very disappointed. I had been told great things about Speakeasy Ramen. So I begged my husband to there for lunch about 2 weeks ago. When arriving we found there was only on-street parking, which I can forgive for the most part. Our waitress was very nice and personable, and I loved the support of local artists. My husband ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen we both tried it and the bone broth tasted muddled and one noted and the noodles were overcooked. I ordered the Philly Roll, and it came smothered in too much sauce and it was all you could taste besides the huge chunks of cream cheese. I never got a taste of any of the other ingredients. To add more to the underwhelming experience, another member of the wait staff had brought their child into the restaurant while she worked. The child was running around wildly in the already cramped dining area as hot bowls of ramen were being served. I was in pure anxiety the whole meal, I feared hearing a crash and a child scream in pain. This was possibly the worst dining experience Ive ever had. I regret making my husband take me. We will never be returning.
Since Jonathan Sawyer’s Noodle Cat closed in Cleveland, I’ve been searching for a great ramen place. Our daughter lives in Springfield and introduced us to this AMAZING place!I had the Tonkotsu Ramen with pork belly, which was perfectly done and delicious. The takoyaki dumplings are also AMAZING! If you don’t like octopus, you should still try this because it’s finely chopped/ground inside and you’d never know what was in it.Two of our party had the Thai curry; one felt it was a bit hot, and the other felt it just warmed them inside, but both liked it very much. They were out of ribs this time, but it gives us something to look forward to next time besides revisiting the yummy ramen!
So where to start. So first I came from about 45 minutes away. And yes it was worth it. I tried the phili roll it was a little different than Im used to but tasted great. Had some type of cooked onion between each peice.I also had the opportunity to try their whisky smash which tasted great as well. For the main course I tried their Thai curry Ramen. It was superb! Tasted great with the coconut broth and various ingredients of which Im not going to name because Id butcher the names.Point is this place is awesome and definitely worth the drive. Well be back! Keep the food going for us. 😁
ExcellentI had some mis-givings about the neighborhood and the curb appeal is horrible, but the food more than makes up for everything. This was my first visit to a Ramen house. I had the Tonkatsu Ramen which has pork belly and marrow broth. My guest had the Vietnamese salad with burnt ends. Both were outstanding.
We thought we had the wrong direction going into an old residential area in Springfield but Speak Easy Ramen really is there. You may have park on the street a block or so away but its worth the effort to eat here.It was PACKED at 4pm on a Saturday. There is outdoor seat with heaters if you choose not to wait for an indoor table. We had Thai Curry Ramen with sweet potato tempura and the Binito Roll. Everything was delicious!! Amazing flavors & beautifully presented. They also have a full bar with cocktails, wine, sake and many local breweries beers .The food is 5 stars & we will be back
We were the only ones that were there and it still took 30 minutes for the food to come out. They kept the front door wide open so as soon as the food came out, flys and gnats were all over our food. Literally landing on our food. When we asked our waitress for a box because we could stand swatting gnats away her response was okay. No apology or anything for the bugs being all over our food and in our faces. Will not be back and would not recommend to anyone.
My partner and I came out to Springfield from Columbus to get a Covid shot so we went hunting for some local food. Boy were we surprised! This place exceeded all of our expectations! The ribs, sushi and ramen were all delicious, delightful, and unique. The service was friendly and welcoming. Truly, a memorable experience! Were looking forward to coming back to Springfield for our second dose so we can also get a second dose of Speakeasy Ramen.
Astonishingly good! Ate here yesterday. Started with the JFC Taco and the Bonito Roll. I dont have a lot of words to describe how good they were. Kids has Tonkotsu Ramen and I had the Thai Curry Ramen. Just simply amazing. Beautifully presented and delicious. We drove about an hour to get there and it was worth every mile. Looking forward to getting back and trying some of the mixed drinks!
Our waitress was on her phone behind the bar the entire time. My friend and I ordered our food at 5:50pm, there were around 2-3 other tables being served, the place was very empty. 2 tables arrived after us, ordered after us, and got their food before us. After waiting 20 minutes we asked our waitress where the food was and she replied: oh I forgot to check, she came out and let us know that the food would be right out, at which point she went behind the counter and started frantically tapping her ipad. 40 minutes had passed, and at this point the tables who had arrived after us were already paying and leaving, and we still didnt get our food. We told the waitress to bring us the check and she asked us if we wanted our food to go, but we refused. We left a $20 bill on the table to cover the drinks and left. We concluded that our waitress probably forgot to place our order with the kitchen. She could have just admitted this instead of lying. Ramen should not take 45+ minutes to make, we will not be going back.
Hubby and I were looking for something to eat on the way home to Columbus from Yellowsprings and we found SpeakEasy Ramen. Do not walk- run! It was so so so so good! I was a little worried that they wouldn’t have vegetarian or vegan options- especially the broth and they did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and delicious and hot. I throughly enjoyed my vegetarian meal! I was super impressed. The ladies running the bar and the dining room were on point and the chef was amazing. He came out to ask us about our meal and you could tell he was so passionate. 10/10 would eat there many more times!
Nice cozy place.. loved the food, got ramen and a roll and a pork belly taco.. all were delicious! Servers were nice and friendly. Also, not a criticism but it would be nice to have more variety of Japanese rolls or ramen on the menu.. but looks like they have some specials from time to time :)
First trip here last night - in short is was spectacular food. I had the Thai Curry Ramen and our waiter recommended the spicy oil to supplement it. So amazingly good! We also tried the rangoon and it, too, was tremendous. The place isnt much to look at, but if youre more into good food than ambiance, this may be the place for you.
Food is great but the price is not. portions are quite small for what you pay, occasionally the eggs are cold. It’s good food but they seem to be exploiting the fact that they are the only place in quite a large radius that serves a decent bowl of ramen...honestly after trying the place a few times im just as content paying half the price at lihns bistro or thai9 than eating here. another qualm...you can hardly get a seat because the dining area is so small. This is great food but people in the area are hyping this place up because the area is so deprived of good eateries..advice: fix your prices or portions....you have minimal overhead and make a killing. 4 dollars extra for some small slabs of decent grade pork is robbery, not to mention 14 dollars for a below average portion of ramen. wish i could give a higher rating! also your cooks are always outside smoking .....fix that.
This is legitimately some of the best ramen i have ever had in my life, and I have been to Japan over 22 times, and used to live in New York City. The broth for their ramens is actually unbeatable. The chashu pork literally melted into my mouth while somehow still retaining the perfect amount of chew and smoky char. The soft boiled eggs were exploding with flavor. On top of everything, the people here are so sweet and passionate about ramen - true sweethearts. If you are EVER within a three-hour radius of this location, I URGE you to come here because it will be a turning point in your culinary journey. 5/5 stars, I would give it 6/5 stars if I could because it is just THAT AMAZING.
This place may seem a little run down. But the food is awesome. The shrimp Rangoon was spicy hot and fresh out of the fryer. Really yummy. The Tonkotsu is the real deal and was super delicious too. I have been really disappointed with restaurants in Springfield, this one is easily one of the best.
I ate here two months ago and was very impressed. Now that I can’t eat here, I’m daydreaming about the food so thought I’d leave a late review. We ordered the ribs to start and they were fall off the bone delicious. We tried both ramens (Thai curry and tonkatsu) and both had unique flavors, were presented beautifully, and were filling. I highly recommend this hidden gem, aptly named Speakeasy as it’s unexpectedly located in a neighborhood. The staff was kind and attentive. Will definitely go again as soon as restaurants are open again! Actually, will probably order take out now.
This place came highly recommend by a friend of ours we were visiting in Springfield and I am glad he did! The ramen was absolutely delicious and so beautiful that you almost didnt want to eat it. As we were on our way home we could not stop raving about it hours after the fact. 10/10 would go back!
The tonkontsu ramen is a great choice for those that dont like spicy food. It is hearty with several bold savory flavors. The pork in it is seriously cooked to perfection as it divinely melts in ones mouth. The Tai curry ramen is a great choice as well as it is spicy but not uncomfortably so. The flavor has many layers that might take a few trips back to fully discover as they can be subtle. This one is my favorite. The sushi is also outstanding here. The Bonito roll has a strong salty seafood flare to it that centers around the bonito flakes that encompasses the vibe of the ocean. The double crab and philly rolls are great for those that want to try sushi but might be apprehensive about raw fish or strong flavors. The sunset roll is my favorite combining the classic California roll topped with spicy tuna on top. The spice and acidity in the tuna complement well the flavors from the California roll. The wings are full size wings not the half tiny ones you get at most places. The sauce has an outstanding heat to flavor profile. They are thickly coated, so this one is for sauce lovers.Always check the online menu each time you come as daily specials will pop up often and new things are always showing up for a day or two depending on supplies.Lastly the staff has been outstanding each time Ive been there. They always make me feel welcome and well looked after each time I drop in.
We got 3 things - shrimp taco, tempura sushi, and vietnamese salad. Wife liked the salad; I didnt. I liked the taco; wife didnt. Both liked the sushi. Busy when arrived so slow service but it didnt improve after crowd lessened. I didnt dislike the experience but wasnt great for the price
I was visiting Springfield for a teaching conference, staying two nights. While preparing for the trip, I happened to see this place on Google Maps and knew I HAD to try it. I arrived about an hour before closing; the GPS took me right past the Frank Lloyd Wright house! but no time to see it :(I accessed their online menu through their free Wi-Fi (they had no printed menus). Within a few minutes of ordering, there was a chilled bottle of sake and a steaming bowl of Tonkotsu pork ramen on my table. The sake was good; the ramen FANTASTIC!!! I had a nice, relaxing meal on their patio with my bowl and my book.My only regret is that they were out of their takoyaki (fried octopus dough balls) which I also wanted to try. Just one more reason for me to return for another meal the next time Im in the area.
My dad suggested we go here on based on the reviews from some of his co-workers. Upon arriving I was HIGHLY SKEPTICAL. The location was kinda sketchy, but he was like lets just try it. So we go in, the dining room was small and all the tables were taken so we sat at the bar. He ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and I ordered salmon tacos. First off, his ramen bowl was so big. And my tacos were amazing! He told me I had to get some ramen because it was delicious. So I ordered the Thai Curry Ramen and I was blown away. It was the best ramen Ive ever had! The broth was so silky and creamy from the coconut milk. It had the perfect balance of spice. And dont get me started on the staff. They were so friendly and inviting. This is now one of our favorite spots to grab lunch or dinner.Moral of the story, dont judge a book by its cover. The location may be a little off putting, but once you walk inside its a whole new world. Im so glad we went.
Excellent!! Springfield is developing a food scene and Speakeasy Ramen is leading the way! Chef Clayton and staff have created quite a hit with what can best described as a Japanese leaning pan asian menu. The menu, while small, hits well above its weight class. With a selection that will satisfy any connoisseur and a drink menu that is creative and delicious. The restaurant is a converted neighborhood bar and has a smaller dining room and is frequently full, but the service staff and patrons seem to keep the flow of the restaurant moving in a reasonable manner and if there is a wait its not usually terribly long. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation.
Everything was so, so delicious. Their menu changes daily, but the Shrimp Banh Mi, my god. We also had several cocktails which were excellent, including the Grapefruit Smash and house margarita with jalapeño added. Everyone who works there is super nice. They were incredibly busy but we hardly had to wait for our food.It truly is a speakeasy. Once you’ve found the retro 50s looking place, you’re there! Can’t wait to return.
Just wow. Not exactly what I expected, but then I didnt really read the reviews or menu much, I just went by the pics. Not exactly easy to get to from the interstate. But definitely worth it if you have a little.extra time. If I was a local, Id stop in regularly for sure! It looked good by the pics. But the food experience was fantastic! It is a small local place, with a fairly simple menu, And little bigger and more diverse drink selection beer - wine - mixed drinks. They really just have like 7 things on the menu, but man, they rock it. I got the thai curry ramen. It came out fast, and WOW. it was fabulous. Explododing with flavor, good heat, and filling. I saw an order of their crab rangoon come out too, it was the best I have ever seen. My only regret was that i did not have room to try it. Next time.Do yourself a favor and check it out of you are in the area!
This little place is competition. Absolutely amazing food, prices, and staff. Dont let the neighborhood fool you, this establishment is very clean and welcoming. The owner and staff should be very happy what they have accomplished! If you do not try this, you are missing out!
Ive been here before and the food is delicious. Thats why I was so excited to go after a workout with my partner! Unfortunately, we were turned away at the door. For reasons unknown, they had closed at 7:30pm despite their website saying they were open until 9pm. Thats the only reason Im giving a 3 out of 5.
My mom has been raving about this place for months, so I came in with very high, 5 star expectations. Now I’m bummed that I can’t give more than a 5 star rating! Food was delicious, presentation was gorgeous, and service was above and beyond. I cannot wait to come back!
Grabbed Speakeasy Ramen for dinner tonight and it was fantastic. The rangoons are great, theyre a little different, but loaded with shrimp instead of crab. The tonkotsu ramen broth is really tasty, but the star for me was the ribs. Theyre soft and tender on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside (because they braise THEN fry them), plus tossed in a really good sauce. Everything was awesome and the staff was great. Dont be fooled by the appearance, this place is legit.

2022-02-09Amazing food! Some of the best and most unique and flavorful dishes Ive experienced in quite awhile. Started out with the shrimp Rangoon and JFC taco.(Japanese fried chicken) and both were simply amazing. Finished up with schezwan ramen which was perfectly balanced with both flavor and heat. Service was exemplary and I loved the relaxed atmosphere. Only downside was lack of parking, but its worth it.

2021-10-17I would give it 6 stars if they would let me. Will definitely return to try more of this menu.Came in on a lark, and the unassuming hole-in-the-wall delivered probably the best food that has crossed my palate this year. You can tell the staff care about the ingredients and the food that is produced.I will be back soon to try more of this amazing place.

2022-05-20This is the place to go for ramen. Amazing. Ragoons were top notch. The vibe and dining area was unique and inviting with some privacy screens. Also has a bar. Only complaint is the bathroom could have been cleaner.

2022-06-09Shhhhhhh, dont tell anyone else about this place or you may never get in. Actually we got right in, went midweek and they were holding a table open just for us...just kidding. My daughter and I ordered the jfc taco and the fresh bao to start, and added in a sezchuan Ramen with lots of heat as well as the Tonkitsu Ramen with some amazing flavors. Tried lavender 💜 drink 🍸 it was beautiful as well as flavorful. So glad I just happened across this place. Dont let the outside fool you, it has got some amazing food inside. Outside patio was getting redone today 06-2022. I look forward to going back and enjoying. The inside had some fun artwork on the walls as well.

2022-06-25This place was absolutely amazing. The pork bao was phenomenal, especially the kimchi that came with it. That was one of the best kimchis I’ve ever had. The Rangoon’s were a whole new experience and the hot sauce was an amazing addition to the traditional recipes out there. The Tonkotsu was out of this world. The broth alone was clearly well thought out. It reminded me of my childhood, when my Korean mother would make it. It brought back so many memories!! The waitress we had was also completely down to earth, friendly and an super quick to make sure we were satisfied. Well done!

2022-07-08We were very disappointed. $16 tonkotsu ramen that was nuke warm broth with soggy noodle. They did good with fixns but way too smoky taste. This place is located at the rough area, and inside is bit dirty.

2022-04-22Great broth and easy going environment. This is my new (relatively) local ramen establishment! They have an excellent beer selection, large assortment of cocktails, and the chef seems to understand the delicate balance of flavor. Im absolutely coming back, maybe Ill try their banh mi this time!

2021-10-09Wow. Such flavor in each bite. The food not only was presentable but was priced fairly as well. Staff was super friendly and the place was decorated in a hip fashion. Nice and clean. Try the Thai curry

2021-12-03Never did I think I’d travel to Springfield Ohio to find the best ramen I’ve ever had in my life. And I didn’t. But it was very good ramen. Cool ambiance, friendly staff. I’d come here again if we’re convenient. If you like ramen, you should eat here because unfortunately you have no other options for miles and miles. But it’s OK because this is a fine place
