Our First time here & we will DEFINITELY be back! I live 1.5 hours from Canton, Oh, so if you are in the area, you ABSOLUTELY MUST stop here for dinner. They open at 5pm and get packed fast!The waitress was fantastic and the food was the best Ive had in years! My sister and I ordered the Cajun platter with steak, chicken & shrimp with a honey mustard sauce. Im not one for a honey mustard at all but that sauce was excellent with the Cajun spices. The meats were juicy, very tender and had fantastic flavor! 😋 The chicken and steak were the best Ive had in my lifetime! The waitress was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu and very helpful.
I love this place so much and yes they do have the best steak in town. And they were so nice made me feel right at home my first time there. Great place i recommend Sparta to any and everyone that has never been.
4/5 because our waitress was the nicest person ever! The food very good. Very buttery! What I did not like was the conversations being had with the bar tender and others involved with the restaurant. It was all about masks and vaccines. Other than that. Totally worth going to. I will be back!
My wife and our friends went there for our anniversary. We asked for specific seating and we were cheerfully accommodated. We had a round of drinks and were not rushed. Our meals were outstanding, best Greek salad around and great super tender fillets. Sparta made our celebration quite special!
We were in town for a dart tournament and found this cute little restaurant for dinner. The owner came to our table and showed us the best hospitality weve had anywhere and the food was outstanding!!! Highly recommended, prices are a bit above average but not bad at all for the fresh food.

Well run family owned steak house by a group of folks who are passionate about the food, drinks and service they deliver. I have eaten here dozens of time and have never been disappointed. Lately their large filet mignon has been our go to steak, add a side of mushrooms and peppers and the dining experience is very good. My wife ordered a small strip cooked medium to perfection. The server was a witty, fun individual who can read the table and know just how far she can tease, hands down Nicole makes dinning at Sparta fun. It’s also notable both the father and mother ( owners) make rounds offerings the warm welcome and when you leave the fond farewell. The drinks are generous, professionally poured with a great variety. Still the blue berry martinis are the best. Sparta Steak House in Canton Ohio - a class act.
Great place good atmosphere they were so kind. It was my birthday and the owners daughters as well...they brought me and my husband a piece of the birthday cake...so nice and the steak was great!!!
A great experience overall. Very accommodating. They do not have a handicap accessible entrance. But, they guided us threw the back. One of the best steaks I have had in quite some time. Great crabcakes. I was told by quest. Best octopus in there life. Awesome cherry coke from the bar. Good job guys.

This is a family owned iconic Canton Ohio restaurant. The staff are amazing only second to the food. I had a amazing steak perfectly cooked. The side dishes were classic with a new twist. The all around experience was amazing.

Very disappointed. Shrimp Primavera over linguine. Tastless.6 of us and all of our meals were the worse we ever had anywhere. Havent been there in years and will never go back. Wilted salad and 4 people they forgot to put salad dressing on. Unacceptable.
I personally love love the food and the place . I always order a Greek burger it’s my favorite . I always order carry out . I gave 3 stars because the last 3 times I’ve ordered my meal wasn’t correct . As I said I always order the Greek burger and I got my burger the last few times with nothing but lettuce very disappointed one of my favorite places . I eat here 1 a week maybe . Still very recommended to go dine in very friendly staff
Amazing dinner tonight! While the place was packed I came in and sat at the bar and felt like I was at home! I will be back! My food was 5 star! My dinner was perfect! I had the Steak, Shrimp and Chicken dinner and it completely exceeded my expectations,wow!
Food was ok. Overpriced for sure. My date wanted to set in the corner booth but the hostess refused. He even offered to pay to rent the booth. She said no, I like to keep the bigger booths for bigger parties. This was on a wed night around 7pm when only 1 other party was in the building. We left around 8pm and still only 1 other party there. While the booth still set empty. Our waitress was polite and courtious. Menu is very limited.

Went with my husband last weekend and everything was amazing. We both ordered the steak and had calamari as our appetizer. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The calamari was amazing! Light and crispy. Not tough or over cooked! A lot of places tend to over fry calamari and it ends up tough. Not here! We loved it. They also make awesome drinks! My favorite was their blueberry mule! I definitely recommend them to everyone. Cant wait to go back!!!Also, side note..... Everyone was wearing a face covering and practicing social distancing. They are definitely taking all the precautions!

Though our server Nicole was awesome, the place was a little over priced and wasnt as cool as many have made it out to be. Thanks for a good Ribeye though, but Ill stick to Longhorn Steak House! At least of my 45 years of being alive, I can now take your restaurant from my bucket list finally.
Steak had a great taste and cooked to perfection. Grilled chicken breast was good as well. The only complaint is that the Kids cheeseburger was way to big for my son. So that in my opinion is not truly a complaint. Very Friendly staff.
I am very picky, to the point where I refuse to eat at most places. I am a regular here. That should say how good the service, and food is. It is well worth the trip downtown. The owners and staff really do treat you like family, and once they recognize you, they even memorize your favorite orders. I could write over a thousand words about this business, but you really should discover some of the magic on your own.
Just went there for my birthday and it was a fabulous dinner! Filet, cooked perfectly and the coconut cream pie was awesome! The staff was great. Also you must try the Blueberry martini!
Food was ok, but not as good as it used to be. Always had great steaks before, but not anymore. For a party of 2, with 2 alcoholic beverages, and 1 appetizer, our bill was over 80.00. Come on guys, do you really believe your steaks are that good? There was a time that you could claim that but not now. Top it off, we waited 15 minutes before a waitress even came to our table. There was 2 parties there, but 10 people or less in each, and they had already eaten. No one else in the whole restaurant. So whats up with the service guys? First time after frequenting this establishment that I noticed the change in quality and service. Its too bad too, since this has always been one of my favorite steak places.
Ive been going here since I was a child. My grandparents are good friends with the owners, so ever time they would come visit, we would get dinner here. Now its mine and my husbands favorite date night spot. The food and cocktails are very yummy.This place is ALWAYS fantastic. Its a little pricey but very much worth the money. And the staff is extremely kind as well.
Go to Bubbas 33, Texas Roadhouse, or Longhorn.Seriously.You will pay half the price and wait half as long versus here.

Grape leaves were a great appetizer, filet and scampi were perfectly cooked! All of the staff was PHENOMENAL!! They worked together and it definitely showed. I would recommend going there
We had three bad steaks tonight. Asked for one steak to be recooked and still came out raw in the middle. The manager didnt even come to the table until one our party members stopped him. The manager was very defensive, unapologetic and cared more about the fact he had to cook two steaks then trying to make it right for the customer. Our server was very rude and also very unapologetic. The manager seemed to want to sit at the bar with his buddies than mange the restaurant. We understand not every steak can be cooked perfect but the second time around should of been cooked correctly. For how expensive the food is, it should be cooked to your preference. Poor management, poor people skills, poor food quality, and rude servers sums up our experience at this place. They will not get a second chance after I saw how much they care about the food they serve and respect to their customers. There are plenty of better places in town. check out benders they have way better quality and service!

The 5 stars is for the fantastic food we had. No one has a burger to compare. BUT, sorry to say I wont be going back for some time. The owner, waitstaff, and bartender were not wearing masks and youre pretty confined there. Maybe after a vaccine.

We eat here weekly and everything the kitchen makes is the best in town. Some hidden gems to try though are the Sparta Burger made from steak, the Blackened Cajun Platter and Prime Rib. Ask for Nicole for a special treat and tell them Mike and Alexis sent you.
First time here and we will be back! The food was wonderful and our server Katie was the best we have had take care of us in years. But the whole place had a relaxing, fun feel and they all made us feel welcome. Very impressed!

I have been going here for the last 20 years. Another Canton treasure . Kitchen is open later than most places. Call for times to be safe. Steaks and seafood and specialty drinks are their Staples. Great wine selection. Nick and his dad and always wonderful crew are always ready to exceed your expectations. Especially for being in the hood. OPPA!
My husband and I both thought the steaks were good. I ordered the Sparta fries based on reviews but I was not impressed with the fried potato slices. The twice baked potatoes I saw on other peoples table looked good but I think they only seeve them on Fri and Sat.
We love this place and the people. They treat you like part of the family. We almost always get the same meal and to say its delicious is an understatement so definitely try it out!!

Save your money..very expensive and food was mediocre at best. Slow service but they were friendly. Questioned a couple bills the next day but got a big runaround rather than a breakdown of bill. Not professional at all
They had super nice waitresses. But my $19 small strip steak was priced about $5 too much, and was tough. Could stand to have had some seasoning as well. Had a twice baked potato that was best thing on the plate. I really dont want to call this
The waitress was great, food was good, steak was tender. The crab cakes were to die for just needed to be bigger. Overall a very satisfying experience! Will definitely be back next year
My husband is from this area and we go to the Sparta Lounge each and every time we are in town. We find the food excellent and the service can not be beat. Everyone there is very nice. We will be there in a few weeks for one of the best steaks ever.
Always a great meal at SSH. Server was very knowledgeable about menu and provided some excellent tips, regarding entrees. We enjoyed ourselves prior to a performance at The Palace Theatre.

Creepy entre. But dont worry, everything tastes much better than what you might think at firdt sight. The interior decoration is enjoyable creating this Greek style with modern blue lighting combination -very cool. Fillet mignon was cooked to perfection just exactly how I asked. Simple garlicky flavor yet delicious. This place is perfect for families, romantic dates, friends hangouts and there is a bar so I would also suggest for single visitors.
The best steak I ever ate in all my life. It was at the Sparta on July 30-31, 2013! Cooked to perfection! The saganaki was flamming good! I recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a great place to have a nice evening and enjoy steak!
A wonderful family owned steak house that makes you feel welcomed as soon as you walk in the door. Tonight I had the best filet mignon ever. Perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Great sides, and homemade bread. Very nice waitress too!

It was prime rib weekend at the Sparta. The Sparta has the best prime rib in Canton.Of course all other aspects of the meal were great as usual. Our server was attentive as are all the servers there. I have been going to the Sparta since 1975. Great steaks great scrod great beef kabobs great everything!

It was ok. As the other reviews stated, decor from the 80s when sponge paint was in style, dingy ceiling tiles, and odd entrance. Signature blueberry martini is potent, though it tastes more like prune than blueberry. Food was just ok. Waitress was fabulous.
Its been awhile since Ive been there and I used to love to eat here for over 30 years but our meal was awful and unless I hear that they have changed things to make it better I most likely wont be going back.
Food was good, service was poor. We were 3rd class citizens. There were 3 tables and no body ever checked in on our table. Servers sat at the bar instead of checking in on their three tables. These folks are going out of business at this rate.
My wife and I have been eating at Sparta for years. Since moving to Phoenix we make sure every time were back in town we stop and get a steak and a blueberry Moscow mule.

The food here had no flavor!! They were out of most of the foods we tried to order! And the service was really slow! And our waitress was doing shots at the bar with the other waitress instead of tending to there tables!

I have been going to Sparta for 40 years. Unfortunately this time they were out of hamburger, then out of pork chops, ended up with the spaghetti. Decided on dessert, they were out of Coconut cream pie and the chocolate peanut butter pie! Why be open at all if the items on the menu are not available. Will probably never be back.

Great service. Great food. My steak was perfect. Im from out of town. Only my 2nd time there.
On this night we had a party of four. Two of us had steaks and two had seafood. As for the steaks, one a Porterhouse and one a Ribeye. Both steaks were on the bland side, not much for seasoning. The Porterhouse was about $8 more than Ribeye, which was told was around a 10oz. The Porterhouse was supposed to be around a18oz cut. They looked about the same size when they arrived, and the Porterhouse maybe being the smaller of the two. Broiled Scrod was very good. And linguini and shrimp was said to be satisfactory. The waitress was very nice and humorous. I would probably go back to try something other than the Porterhouse I had. The salads were very basic. Lettuce a cucumber slice and a hot pepper.

I had the worst T-Bone steak known to man there. My wife had an aweful steak also.The juice on the plate tasted like bullion cube and horse menure. I cant believe this place gets good ratings. The chain steakhouses are a lot better than this dive.
Best filets in Canton. The service is friendly and the food is consistently good. For a change, try the cajun blackened dish (small filet, chicken breast, shrimp) that has a sweetend cajun taste. If you like old-school, family owned establishments, this is the place for you.

2022-02-19This is such a cool place. It is essentially a house rennovated into a fancy restaurant. Perfect place for a date night. The food was spectacular and the portions were huge; I brought half of my meal home with me. Our waitress was absolutely fantastic and our food came out really fast for how busy they were. Would definitely recommend making a reservation as they get really busy.

2022-06-21Another solid meal at this Canton, OH staple. Parking is a little tight but park on the back road if you have to. Four of us went and had excellent service from one of the family members that owns it. I had the filet and Sparta fries (get them crispy) and just about everyone else had the scampi. A literal must if you visit. Always some good specials and tasty dessert options.

2022-05-05My daughter wanted to eat her for her birthday. I heard great things about the food and staff.I ordered a strip steak cooked medium..nice size and perfect color of pink but so darn DRY! I had a terrible time trying to chew it. Also ordered a twice baked potato. There was an upcharge for it. I got a half potato and it wasnt full. And as I said they charged more for it.It was a take out order but that shouldnt make a difference. I wont go back and I wont recommend this restaurant. What a waste of money!!

2022-05-19Well! I’ll never go back there again! Very disappointed with the whole experience! Me and my son went last night for dinner! I ordered a porterhouse, and my son ordered the grilled chicken! The side salad came to the table and it was literally lettuce on a plate with 2 cucumber slices and pepperchinis, and a drizzle of dressing, if I wanted a lettuce salad I could have had that at home! The steak was good and my son said the chicken was good, but if your going to serve fries you should let people know that there not really fries but thick half cooked potato chips! For $38 a meal, should have been more classy!!!

2022-06-24This is by far one of my favourite restaurants in Canton. The food is amazing, especially the lamb chops. The atmosphere is great and the waitresses are all so nice. Nicole is an amazing waitress here!

2019-11-30The meal was just OK. Did not like the baklava unfortunately. The appetizers were very good, we tried the cauliflower, the flaming cheese, stuffed pepper and pita one? all were a hit! The highlight of the evening was the great service we received and the warm inviting atmosphere!

2019-12-24What a great find! Up the stair and enter the cozy confines of a second floor bar and restaurant! Excellent food and nice atmosphere. The staff was amazing. Helpful and friendly. Pricing was reasonable for the high quality of the fare. The only downside is parking but the hassles there were quickly forgotten. Well be going back!
