Place is fantastic, I cant believe it isnt a bigger deal than it is. There was barely anyone else there, but maybe it was just what a normal Sunday is like. Bartenders and drinks were unbelievable, so imaginative and well thought out. Easily some of the best cocktails Ive EVER had, really unreal. Definitely worth the price!
Have heard this place was amazing but was severely disappointed! The cocktail was just ok for the price, the service was awful and when he did come back was given check and told he already put a 20% gratuity on it. Now normally I tip way more than 20%, but when it’s added automatically I tend to not. For the service it was not worth that much! Wont be going back!
The Gentleman behind the bar with the short hair was beyond rude. He didnt greet us properly and was dismissive from the moment we walked in. I work in the industry and know how customers should be treated from the moment they enter, to the moment they leave. I was very disappointed in his service and his demeanor. We ended up leaving because of how he treated us. I expected better service from such a highly reviewed establishment and am sad we had to give such a poor review.
The Christmas cocktails leave something to be desired this year. I normally adore Societys varied selection of mod cocktails but this year nothing speaks to me. The atmosphere is festive and makes for a great place to start or end still. Society ranks as a go to among the downtown areas drink spots.
Cool speakeasy style place but TERRIBLE service and overpriced drinks (min $15 each). We sat for 15 minutes waiting for a server while one of the male servers stood at the table beside us chatting up girls. Once we did order drinks we could see them sitting at the bar for a good 20 minutes before someone brought them over. Would not go back.
The best atmosphere and the best cocktails in town! My husband and I frequented Society Lounge while staying in Cleveland over our anniversary weekend. The staff was so friendly and enthusiastic and even remembered us each time we stopped in. Each cocktail was an exquisite and esthetically satisfying experience. The cushy candle-lit art deco atmosphere was perfect to cozy up for intimate conversation over cocktails. Thanks for the experience guys! (And gals!)
Out on the town in Cleveland with the girls for my daughters 21st. Birthday. We had a great time and loved the Society Lounge the best out of the several places we visited that night. In all honesty, I wished now we would have stayed there, but it was fun seeing a bit of the city night life.
Great Gatsby realness! This place is almost perfect but they are still getting five stars!Walk into this rather unassuming store front and greeted by a friendly yet very quiet (and handsome) host who leads you downstairs to an intimate speakeasy vibe. But not that fake type you see popping up all over the country but an honest vibe that is only accented by Sam the bartender, also very handsome. His passion for drinks is unmatched by almost any mixologist Ive ever met. And dont get him started on Sherrys he can talk for hours about their characteristics and profiles. The drinks are priced very well for the passion and dedication behind each one of them. Friendly and nice from beginning to end.I would have loved a unique Lou ge act playing softly in the background, something like a drag queen playing an accordion or a burlesque dancer (real one) dancing to traditional music. Thats the vibe if this place. Different, unique, embracing, and charming. MUST TRY!
Scam artists. I closed out. Asked the bartender for a receipt. He said we dont do that. Then later on walks up says hey. Heres your receipt. You need to pay. I have to sign into my bank account to prove payment. This place only cares about making money. They pass unpaid bills onto their patrons. Please pay attention to what you ordered and what youre charged
Not sure why this place is rated 4.5 stars. Ive been precovid and more recently. Drinks are pricey for the Cleveland market. Service has never been very good. And now a days they just blame poor service on being understaffed. They dont respond to reservation emails when you do have a crowd trying to come in. Drinks are decent but with so many other places to drink on e. 4th, try somewhere else, especially if theres a line.
Ordered a premium bourbon, William LaRue Weller and was charged approx double, $108, than the last time I visited this bar and the pour was skimpy. Buffalo Trace Antique Collection whiskies are difficult but not impossible to purchase and the cost for an entire bottle is less than what I was charged for 3/4 of a shot! Hostess, on the other hand, was great. Will not return.
Im not normally the type of person who goes to bars but me and my family stopped in before we went to a comedy show and had an amazing time. Our server was Austin and he was absolutely amazing. All of the hosts were amazing. The door girl (I didnt catch her name) was hilarious. We had such a great time that we ended up going back after the comedy show was over. This was by far the best bar Ive been to.
Society lounge is our favorite through and through! Although this time I felt even more inclined to leave a review because of our server Cassie- she was so vibrant and full of life! Best server we’ve had in our time in Cleveland. Thanks Cassie for our surprise bourbon cocktails and a great experience!!
The hostess was incredibly rude. We approached the podium and she never looked up at us one time and doodled on her notepad as we stood there. I gave her a friendly greeting and told her we were looking for a table for 3 people. Again, without looking up at us and continuing to doodle, she responded “I saw” in a rude tone. Eventually, she asked if we wanted to put our name down but her hostile attitude turned us away. There are plenty of bars with a more friendly staff to go to in Cleveland.
Lovely speakeasy atmosphere, great service, excellent cocktails. I especially appreciated the cocktail legend which described the characteristics and flavor profiles of each so you werent guessing as to whether or not you would like it. Rare bourbons at reasonable prices in comparison to many other by-the-pour places. We will return!
Great atmosphere and very knowledgeable bar tenders. The drinks are a bit pricey but its worth it considering the level of skill and knowledge that goes into each drink. The bar tenders are also happy to share their knowledge if you have any questions and they do it in a way that isnt pretentious.
My favorite bar/lounge so far that we have visited in Cleveland. The bar tender was super friendly and helpful. My boyfriend and I didnt know what to order so she asked us what we liked and made us drinks based on that. They were some of the best cocktails we ever had!
Really cool bar with craft cocktails. I went on a game night. Service was a little so when we first out there but 9nce the game let out it ground to a halt. The issue with craft cocktails is they take a while to make. Only having three bar tenders that are working the floor as well is an issue. Great drinks, just needs more staff so drinks come out quicker
Drinks are great, servers are fantastic. As if that wasnt enough - we had a situation where some rowdy guests were bothering us, and a server calmly and amicably diffused the situation before it escalated. Great service. Singer was fantastic as well. Good job to the owner for hiring great people. 👍
The quality of drinks and service is unmatched. Regardless of the city or state I have seen nothing that has come close. By far the best drinks I have ever had, well crafted and high quality ingredients. Great atmosphere and a great place to take a date. Love the speakeasy theme!
We absolutely loved the atmosphere of this bar but the rap music was very unexpected. I loved everything, but music means the world to me. Ive been in the bar business almost 30 yrs and the music definitely did not fit the clientele. A little jazz or cabaret music would be perfect. The opening bartender should not have the decision. Im not at all trying to be disrespectful. I just feel this place could be introducing better music to the younger of our society while pleasing the older and more blessed if you will.
This was our second visit in about 2 months. The cocktails are fantastic, especially the rotating specials. There is a lot of care and passion put into each one. Both bartenders (Misty and Tim) have a great style and watching them make drinks is almost as enjoyable as drinking them.2 drinks really stood out from the rotating special on our last trip. The Honey trap was a fantastic warm cocktail, great on a cool winter afternoon. The one that really stood out was the Copito the Giver. A great balance of smoke and spice. Also a final plug for the music selection. The playlists on both visits really set the atmosphere. We plan on returning often.
Not from Cleveland. This is a premier cocktail bar. The vibe is subdued and refined with an emphasis on quality. They have an expansive list of hand-crafted cocktails that will impress and surprise you. The level of knowledge displayed by the bartenders and owner is impressive. This is the place to relax and enjoy every aspect from the music, atmosphere and finely made drinks. A must see for anyone coming to Cleveland!
Cool underground speakeasy with awesome cocktails. They make the best gin martini that Ive ever had. Theres also a drink with a cucumber in it which may have been one of the top couple drinks Ive ever had. Snooty crowd which sucks, but the drinks and small plate foods are awesome. Looking forward to going back soon.
Fun, swanky place for hand crafted cocktails. They put a lot of work into their drinks and theyre delicious. Probably one of the better places downtown for crafted cocktails. The only reason I knocked off a star, is bc it used to be more 20s themed, with a singer and piano player, etc. A REAL speakeasy vibe. Nowadays its just loud house music. It needs to go back to the theme
My boyfriend and I went to The Society on Halloween night. Our bartender Juan, the nudist on strike, was excellent. It was relatively his 7th night working there and he was really excited to be part of such a great team. He made my boyfriend a rosemary infused vodka drink and made myself a Hemmigway Daiquiri. Both drinks were amazing. I would highly recommend The Society not only for their fantastic drinks and atmosphere but also because of Juan and his great knowledgeable service. We definitely will be back.
The atmosphere is awesome and I had a lot of fun when I came but I minused two stars since getting a drink was a terrible experience. The first time the bartender ignored me to serve others 3 times then forgot my drink at the back of the bar and only brought it to me after asking for my order again. The next 2 times we went up separately and whoever got attention first ordered for everyone. We were a special event and warmed them that there would be 40 of us but they still only brought 2 bartenders.
You walk in to a beautifully decorated, very romantic hidden gem on E 4th. The staff is amazing, I wont even call them bartenders, Id say they are more like wizards of cocktails. I have had drinks from some of the fanciest bars from L.A. to NYC, and Society is right on par, if not better. This is the spot to end your date night with.
Fantastic selection of ultra unique cocktails, appetizers and spirits. We arrived at 6:30PM on a Saturday night and the place was relatively empty. That changed after about an hour. At this point, there was live music and the atmosphere was filled to capacity. I received a very underground almost speakeasy vibe from Society Lounge. The live music was high quality but the genre wasnt suitable for the environment, I felt. Instead of live acoustic, EDM or electronic would have been far more complimentary. The age range is primarily 25+ and I was definitely the youngest in the building. That didnt stop me from enjoying all of what Society Lounge has to offer. I would recommend this place to friends and couples. Its a very intimate environment, perfect for a romantic night out or time with friends. Dress code is business casual/formal. My favorite aspect had to have been the drink menu, its beyond impressive!
Had a drink here on Halloween, Juan made my girlfriend and I two drinks, a Hemmingway Daquiri and a Rosemary infused vodka drink. He provided excellent service and offered us suggestions based on our preferences and hit it out of the park. We highly recommend The Society for a unique experience and knowledgeable staff!
Society Lounge is an A+ place for a high end speakeasy vibe in Cleveland. House cocktails are phenomenal and worth every penny; even if they are $15. I recommend getting the smoke infused bourbon. It’s quite the show.Besides excellent cocktails, Society offers excellent small plates and an excellent live music scene and the comfort of couches and lounge chairs to fit the high end atmosphere.Give it a shot on the weekend. Expect a lot of traffic but it will be well worth it.
The people behind the bar certainly know what theyre doing at Society. They each have their own flair, in personal style as well as drink prep, and the atmosphere is cozy. Other than the occasional networking event that gets hosted there, this is a great place to go relax with an expertly made cocktail.
DONNIE! I have been traveling to Cleveland on business for the last several years. Ive seen 2 major regiment changes in bar staff - yet Society Lounge has remained consistent in the quality of craft cocktail. KUDOS! I meet all kinds and feel like I always leave with a new friend. You absolutely nail it when it comes to atmosphere. However, one of your biggest standouts is Donnie at the door. While Cleveland is many great spots I always swing by and say hello. Awesome guy! Heres to you, dude!!
If I could live here I would. Never thought I could find a place that makes me so happy in Cleveland and this spot would actually bring me back to this city on a regular basis and no I’m not drunk. Lindsey just makes the best cocktail you’ll ever have. It’s a very nostalgic and chill lounge and speakeasy-feeling bar that I like more than friends. If you come and don’t like it then nobody probably likes you. At all. Cheers!
Stopped by Society Lounge last night with my wife and another couple after a comedy show at Pickwicks. Heard a lot of great buzz about the place and especially and it didnt disappoint. I really enjoyed the live music and relaxing environment. Staff was very great and helped us choose a few drinks from their huge menu. The Moscow Mule, in a copper mug, was my favorite. Wife liked the Manhattan. Best place on the street for an after dinner drink and relaxing time.
Get there early to get a bar spot if thats what youre looking for because it gets crowded quickly. Thats because these bartenders are experts mixologists who will make you fabulous drinks. They have the artillery to blow you away with any drink you can imagine. Be creative and go off-menu and challenge them with flavors you like and they will deliver. The basement feel of those bar is cool, they often have nice live music playing. The food is like gourmet accoutrements, sometimes with foie gras, hell yeah! Love this place!
Zero stars if I could. We walked in and took a seat at the bar. Bartender served us water and after we looked at the menu she took our order and the order of the guys next to us (who sat down after us). She even came back to confirm the one guys order. She made their drinks and apparently drinks for everyone else in the place. After 10 minutes of her ignoring us (save for the water) we left. Not going back. Lived on E.4th for less than a week and I already have a least favorite place.
Drinks were overpriced and music is bumping like a club. If you want to price a cocktail for $13+ you should have an environment that replicates those “social” aspects....too much to ask for a place called society lounge....relocate to west 6th, replace with a true social experience
I would give zero stars if I could! Door is locked with your greeter sitting at a podium staring us in the eye as we stand there waiting to be let in. No idea if there was a private party or what. No sign and the guy just stared straight ahead at us. Lost our business forever. Which is sad since we can easily walk next door to 10 other bars.
By far the biggest rip off place to drink. What they charge for a single drink you could by a whole bottle. They claimed to have top shelf liquor but its by far middle of the road and watered down. The menus come with flashlights because its unbearably dark in the converted basement. Will not return.
I gotta say, this is the first/last/everything in between name in hospitality. If theyre drinks dont win you over (and they absolutely should), they (the amazing bartenders) will. An ability to give you what want, even if thats not what you think you want. All with a non-pompous extensive knowledge. Its hard to ask for more.
Joseph was very accommodating in our request for a meet n greet for a pre-wedding event Friday sept. 4th when numerous other venues downtown didnt want to be bothered. Adequate space was set aside and even a signature drink on the blackboard in tribute to the bride and groom. Service was great. Staff friendly and professional. Thanks for a memorable evening.
I visited here with a group of friends and was not impressed by the least. I know it is part of the vibe but it was way too dark and you wait way too long for over priced drinks. The staff was great and the presentation was good but everything else was quite a thud! Will not return to again.

2021-12-29The best cocktail bar in Cleveland hands down. Its the best for sports games downtown also, they have a huge discount on the valet parking across the street. You wont find better cocktails unless you cross state lines I promise you that. The atmosphere here is outstanding and unmatched.

2022-03-08This little speakeasy probably has one of the best and unique cocktails in the city. The area is walking distance to many local restaurants and the casino. The bartenders are always well mannered and knowledgeable about their liquors. The whiskey collection contains one of the rarest selections and are priced decently for pours based on secondary market values.

2022-03-29Really cool place. Well made atmosphere, definitely a gem. Had some excellent cocktails and really enjoyed our server, truly a fun time. Wish the music choices were a bit more fitting of the atmosphere though.

2021-12-19Very cool lounge-like atmosphere. We went during the Christmas season so the bar was crazy decorated. That was neat to see. The drinks were very expensive but thats how the city is. My fiancees drink came in a cute Santa mug. The server saw I didnt want anything from there fancy dancy menu and hooked a beer up with the not listed Christmas ale. It was very good. Ironically enough my girl and I end up switching drinks because she didnt like what she got.

2022-07-02My husband and I went to Society Lounge for the first time to celebrate our small wedding ceremony. The atmosphere is incredible and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly! We mentioned our wedding to staff member Tails and she promptly brought out a couple glasses of bubbly so we could celebrate. I definitely feel like every bartender and server here goes out of their way to make their customers feel like VIPs. If you haven’t had the chance, please visit this unique speakeasy-style cocktail bar!

2022-06-14My wife and I went out to E 4th St following our wedding reception over Memorial Day weekend. We ended up going Society Lounge around the time they were doing last call and initially told us they were not accepting anymore guests. When we said we had a large group of people coming and they saw our wedding attire, they made accommodations for us and our wedding guests to come in and have a final send off drink for the evening! Couldn’t have been a better end to an amazing night. Thank you Society and your employees!!!!
