Great fishing, clean, quiet Overall couldnt ask for a better place to throw a Pole in and stretch the line. 30# and a 14# shovelhead cats. 5 channel cats 1.5#, 2#, 2.7# 4.3#, and a 7.45# channel cats. Plus two 20#plus snapping turtles. All was released back into the lake. Bring the kids, fun day for all
Fall soccer started a few weeks ago and they still dont have the goals or lines on the fields. Kinda hard to coach kids when 8 of the 10 are first year players and we have no fields to practice on! Awesome job!!The road is awful, and the whole back parking lots are closed off. But the jungle gym looks lovely as ever!! Pretty cool place to take your kids and play if you enjoy spending time in the ER removing all the sweet aids/hepatitis needles out of your kids!!
I love this park! Plenty of space to kite fly, walk, fishing is available there! Has bathrooms so no need to worry about when nature calls. Has a splash pad for the kids and covered pic nic areas with grills there. Just bring some charcoal and lighter fluid and utensils food and get to partying! This park also offers the 4th of July firework show complete with music and vendors food and souvenirs and in the winter does an excellent Christmas light show! A great park to go to! I take my dog there and he loves the trails!
Beautiful clean park with plenty of parking. Festivals held there when i went was the ohio challenge and omg cant wait till the next one.I come from new jersey and Ive never experienced any thing like this before. You felt safe and bewildered by the beauty of the hot air balloonsband sky divers. It was like a scene in a movie just perfect
This park has always been a great place to take the kids. They have a nice play area away from the picnic shelters, and they have plenty of those. Nice place to go alone too. watch out for the squirrels! They get very close to you, people feed them so they beg for food now. (I dont know if you are allowed to) Theyre adorable though!
Great Park Ive been playing soccer down there for years been going there for skating now Im down there coaching personally I feel like the City of Middletown to do a better job of maintaining the fields the grass I mean its a wonderful part for parties taking the kids on a afternoon getaway nice place to just walk if the fields and the grass was taken care of a little better if they were more trash cans around and I say this with all my heart Middletown Smith Park needs more trash cans around we have a trash problem yes people can throw their trash away but if we had trash cans closer around then be less of a problem oh no its a Great Park Ive been going to it for years and I continue to come back
My son and I enjoy the splash pad and park. The skate park in the back is very nice too. We play soccer here during the week and its a very family friendly park. It offers awnings to cook out, gather, or even a birthday party. It also has bike trails and a pond to feed the ducks. It can be very busy at times but still a nice place to have fun with your kids.
The path is nice and long to get a good walk in. The splash pad area is a great fenced in area so the kids cant escape the area very easily. The skate park area is great for older kids and the pond in the middle is nice to sit and eat a picnic at. The Christmas season is when the whole park is decorated with lights and scenes and theres even Santa pictures available too. Overall, this is one of my favorite parks.
I like this park year round, plenty of room to stretch out and do various activities and for the most part its a clean park. I definitely recommend going when the Christmas lights are up though, theyre fantastic...and I typically hate that season, years in retail ruined it haha...to enjoy it again was refreshing and an accomplishment on their part for such a great display.
Nice park for the kids to play in the splash pad. Fishing pond .no fishing license needed. Great place for walkers. There is a skate board park. Great place to have a b day party . there is grills and picnic tables. There is also shelters that you can reserve for the day.
Huge park at the center of downtown. A scenic bike path and workout stations allow a blend of health focus with the deep breath of a nature hike. Event park with music, fireworks, balloon shows, airplane stunts, skydiving, fishing, festivals year round, car shows, and a splash pad for the youths to splash and splash. Also it boasts The Baker Bowl; a skate park built for the extreme sports to flourish. Baseball, soccer, softball, and peewee. I have even seen disc golf there. So, rent a shelter today and enjoy this space like we middies have. Tribute to Jerry Hurley, my grandfather and longtime football coach of years past.
Ehhhhh had a nice little bass on the end using top water/whopper Poppler DID NOT Have my drag set tight enough . lost him in the fix .lol errrr. PS. Awesome place to bass fish early morning/ late evening. (((UPDATE)))Got-Him this time .lol Whopper Plopper think i spelled that right..
The wife is not fond of this part and prefers taking the kids to a different one but I dont mind it. They have new playground equipment which is fantastic. They have a splash pad which will be open for the year very soon. Theres a fishing lake with a path around it and a skatepark. Plus its right next door to the airport where they skydive and the kids loved watching the skydivers parachute down to the ground
Stopped in for a quick picnic lunch and to enjoy the beautiful day. Everything was great until that sweat bee decided that it wanted to take up residence inside my skull via my mouth, nose, ears, any way it could find to try gaining entry. I couldnt allow that to happen. It seemed slightly perturbed, bouncing off my windshield repeatedly, as I was leaving. I drove in large meandering circles doubling back and crossing my own tracks several times in hope of it losing my trail and being unable to follow me home!
Nice little park. Plenty of trees and shade as well as fields for games and sports. Biggest highlight for me and my lady is its a great place to play pokemon go. Great place to play, a few gym and different stops and its also like less than a 10 minute walk to downtown Middletown, another pokemon go hotspot. ;)
CLEAN, big, great jungle gym for kids & water park in summer. Big grill spots for family gatherings, trails, skate park, skydivers and airplanes doing tricks in summer. Lots of beautiful wildlife. Grest place to walk dog or just exercise. Best park in town, no druggies or trash! Safe for kids and families.
I have been going to Smith Park all my life. From baseball and football and fishing , To just for the exercise and the Christmas displays. I live in Florida now, so i dont know if the overall experience has changed. But when i do come up to visit i always go to revisit the park.
We went for the Light up Middletown holiday lights which are set up every year by volunteers which itself was great and a big part of our family Christmas traditions, but the roads are in awful shape. There is a large pot hole every few inches which is a shame and it is clear that the city has not prioritized the park in many years.
This is a wonderful park in Middletown, Ohio. You can fish, there is a water playground for the children. They have games in the fields you can watch, the airport butts up to the back of the park. People skydive, ride balloons, this is the park where they have a weekend balloon festival at every year.
Grand kids loved it, and so did we.I suggest you get there early, there will be along line to get in.Donations for entrance and picture with Santa. Santa times are 7 to 9 and the line starts forming about 630. They have a heated tent for everyone to stand in waiting for the Santa Shack doors to open.Mrs Clause co.es out a talks to each child before the go in to see Santa. Lines moves quicklySanta looks very real and he and mrs clause are extremely nice. When we left the line was so long not sure everyone got in before it closed
A very nice park. Lots of things to do and a great place to just walk around. The park has many annual events. I have been to the ballon festival a few times and although the ballon ride companies are shady its still a cool event to go see. The christmas light diplay is pretty nice because yoi can see it all from your car as the drive through.
Restrooms always locked probably because they would be unsafe. Potta potty way to gross to even consider using. I drive pretty far away to take my kid to a different splash pad because of lack of bathrooms and there are too many kids there who are Ill behaved and almost knocked her down last year. Its dirty and Im not blaming the city, its just the homeless and vagrants that live and frequent the park. The rest of the parks are fine
Nice place for a summer picnic at 1 of 5 shelters or choose a shady picnic area under the trees, all have charcoal grills. Splash pad for the little kids all the way up to adults young at heart. Playground next to splash pad is a great place to wear the kids out. You can walk the path, visit the old canal museum. There is a skate park, fishing, ducks who LOVE people, and bonus points its right next to the airport where you can sit in the gigantic field and watch the skydivers. Smith Park hosts many events including The Ohio Balloon Challenge, where you can visit plenty of vendors, listen to live bands on the main stage, have a front row seat to the balloon glow, and a fireworks show. They have a GREAT Christmas light display you drive through, and the kids can stop by and say hello to Santa and get thier picture taken.
I have only been at this park 2 times before my most recent visit. All 3 times it was to workout. They have a nice long trail for cardio. Not much scenery though. Its flat and boring. The playground needs updates as its rusted, faded, and not to many ootions for kids to play on. Additional swings should be addes to. Pavement is also tore up and needs repoured.
I have never been here during the warm seasons, but I do go every year (for 3 years now) for light up middletown. Its beautiful... the 1 thing i would change is the radio station because it is usually full of static. So we go through the lights 3 times. 1 with the radio channel. 2. With christmas classics and 3. On a playlist we take a vote on (this year was dubstep Christmas) I have 4 boys and they always enjoy it.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Smith park for a lot of reasons...a few is the Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon festival is tbere, as well as a HUGE Christmas light display drive through which my daughter and I got to every hear... The airport is also right there so you get to watch small plans going and people skydiving or learning to. There is also a skate/bike park and a splash pad!
Recently they have made an effort to remove the stray cats, over 30 taken out to shelters. Local authorities have ordered no feeding strays. They are cleaning it up. Great effort has been made and local businesses are chipping in. The food trucks that show up for festivals are many and great. Major step up lately.
It was visually stunning. Listening to 98.9 on the radio as journeying thru the park was outstanding. Best park in the entire tri-state area in my opinion. Reminds me of the Lady of the Snows, in Belleville, Illinois, where in from. Thank you Smith Park, Middletown, Ohio. Grandkids thourghly enjoyed it.
I really love walking my dog thru Smith park so nice but what I dont like is people bringing there dogs with out a leash there should be a poo ark law to have a leash on your pets at all times while being at Smith park I would give it a 5 star if they would make this a part of there park a leash law
Awesome park do know there are many cat colonies so do not let your dogs chase them. There is a skate park its awesome to walk if you stay on the trails it will take you across the road to the river ...just keep in mind to be aware of your surroundings. ...in the summer there is alot more weird stuff going on in there with teens with homeless .with passing byers and drugs every once in a blue moon you will see horses wagens ext. So be aware and keep your animals on leashes it is the law of the land and pick up your dog poop makes you a good furparent 🍅
Smith Park is one of Middletowns larger parks. It is adjacent to the Middletown Airport. Smith Park is the annual destination of the Hot Air Balloon Challenge held every summer close to 4th of July. Someone built a cat hotel and many semi feral cats make this their home since they can be outside and hunt in the woods area but also have shelter from cold winters. Smith Park also has a fishing pond with ducks and geese, a skate board area and a water slide play area.

2021-12-24Smith Park Cmas Light display is A+!The only price = requested charity donation placed in a box at entrance. Many new and unusual displays. No burned out lights. Areas in route where car can pull over and enjoy the show. (Stay in vehicle)In my opinion much better than Pyramid Hill display.Enjoy!
