My experience with Skip Potter Law Office was pretty awesome. Awesome is actually an understatement. I found Skip Potter Law Office from google and immediately called them to see if they were able to help me with my situation. His beautiful assistant showed me the best customer service by being patient, listening to my problem and making sure I was able to get a meeting with Skip immediately. Skip took on the challenge and not only took on the challenge but handled it in a manner which I left as a satisfied customer. I found Skip through Google and read a lot of great reviews on him and gave him a call in regards to my husband. It was a weekend and I got a prompt call back from him. This is the first time I have ever written a review for a service I have received. My experience with Skip Potter, however, was so unique and it has given me hope that there are people you can trust and depend on.I found the Skip Potter Law Office on Google and called Mr. Potter right away and left a message. He called me back that same day. During that first conversation on the phone he gave me information about my situation and we scheduled to meet in person. In the meeting I gave him all the information and documents the he needed. He explained what he was going to do and told me what I had to do. After I left his office I was another person because I felt I could trust him and he gave me hope. After that, he or his assistant would call me to tell me any news.I’ve never seen a person who works like he does. He took care of everything from A to Z in a very short time. I came to Mr. Potter for a custody case in 2017, and he was great! Before I saw skip I was very nervous and stressed out about the whole thing constantly doing research and gathering documentation. Skip was very calm and took the time to see me as soon as possible. In a custody case parents sometimes loose sight of what is really important which is the child, skip was insistent that we take the high road and coached/steered my in a direction that kept the case as civil as possible. In the end we settled on a shared parenting arrangement and me and my sons mother actually co parent better because it! I had heard skip was a good attorney which is why I sought him out, but it did not take long to realize that he is also a great person who truly cares about his clients! Thank you Skip!

Skip was a great attorney for me. He is very professional and has a lot of connections within Wood County. He was able to help me in a OVI case where a State Trooper wanted to also get me for a felony fleeing and eluding charge. Because of skips knowledge and connections he was able to get the felony charge thrown out. I still got a First Offense OVI charge. But it could have been a lot worse.Thanks again Skip! You the man!

I had seen Skip’s reviews on google, and was very pleased with his 5 star ratings. I called Skip on a Saturday, spoke with him personally which was very nice and unexpected, and he had listened to the importance of my case, he was aware of the county I was in, knowing it was 1 hour away from him. He acknowledged this and I asked if my situation sounded like something he would be willing to take on. He assured me that he does these types of cases and situations for a living and was More then willing. I wanted to schedule a consultation with him, and he said he was not near his calendar and for me to call him Monday morning to set up an appointment. Come Monday, I called him Monday afternoon, his secretary Summer who was very nice, took my info down, for a quick sum up of my situation, and told me Skip handles his own appointments, he was on the phone and would contact me in about 15/20 mins maybe an hour depending on who he’s speaking with. Okay, so I didn’t hear anything the rest of the day, which is understandable I know he has to be busy. Tuesday, nothing. Wednesday, Nothing still. Today is Thursday, I called again just to see what was going on and spoke with Summer again. I said he never gave a call back and was just wondering if he was able to schedule yet due to the severity of my case. She said “ let me look at his notes, okay it says here that he wrote he does not handle criminal cases in your county”. Um okay, I said “ I spoke with him saturday and he specifically said he knew I was 1 hour away and that was okay?” She replied “ I’m just looking at his notes would you like a referral for another attorney?” To me this was just very unprofessional. I really was looking forward to speaking with someone I thought had good reviews and would take the time to be on my side considering they knew all of this 5 days ago, now they don’t do my county? He could have atleast called me back and told me himself, or had Sunmer courteously call me back and let me know that herself since he wrote it in his ”notes”? I canceled appointments with 4 other attorneys who were closer to me all to have an appointment with Skip. I just think to let someone hang without a call back who was actually depending on that consultation is really unprofessional and low...
Skip got me a deal that included a 16-day stay at the Hancock Hilton, along with a mandatory assessment at Century Health and presumed treatment. Early May. I did not know there was such a strict timeline for completing the assessment (30 days) and skip did not go over the importance of all of it with me. I wish he had looking back on how it played out. I was to report to jail June 15th to do the 16 days, and because of overcrowding, I was told to go back to court and reschedule. All along my plan was to serve the 16 days, then go to Century Health and participate in their 3 days-a-week intensive outpatient treatment group. My new day to report to jail was July 18th. This time they let me in, and on the 19th, my second day in jail, the sheriff paraded in with a warrant for my arrest for what they call non-compliance. To them, it didnt matter that I hadnt served my sentence yet, or that I voluntarily showed up to jail to comply with my sentence and serve my 16 days. All that mattered to money-hungry Hancock County is that I didnt complete the assessment within 30 days.The paperwork for the warrant showed I was to serve 285 days in jail, time that was suspended as a result of multiple traffic infractions. All I wanted to do was speak with Skip, the attorney I paid for to represent me regarding the matter. A simple phone conversation would have sufficed, I merely wanted someone experienced with the local court to give me advice on how to proceed. Instead, I got his assistant summer who told me I could pay Skip $850 to represent me for early release and that my money was good for up to two court appearances but that it didnt come with any guarantee of release.I decided to file the motion for release myself once I completed the original 16 days. It took about 10 minutes to complete the paperwork, and a few days later it came back denied. I waited 3 more weeks and filed again. This time, after serving an additional 20 days, I was released, but put on probation. Never went to court at all.In conclusion, I think skip did a good job with getting me a decent outcome for my multiple traffic convictions. However, it is apparent now that he has considerable experience with the local court and how they operate when it comes to the Century Health dog-and-pony show. He could have advised me that they were going to throw me in jail for not going to the assessment within 30 days. Especially knowing I had a sentence of 16 days to complete. In addition, he could have made a quick visit, or even gave me 5 minutes of time over the phone to offer me simple advise. Or at the very least, offered a more reasonable retainer fee for his representation in such a simple legal procedure. But in the end, its all a well-oiled machine, the business of processing people through the system and litigating for their defense. If you dont have loads of cash laying around, I wouldnt advise consuming alcohol or smoking a joint outside of a locked room.

I was referred to Skip by a friend of mine in early 2012. I was told he was a good lawyer and would do well with my case. My friend was right. We went to court in may of 2012 and settled a custody case fairly easy. Both me and the mother of my daughter decided on an equal time sharing plan but left her with the custodial parent. Both parents were satisfied at that time. In Feb of 2013 the mother of my daughter filed a false protection order against me. Skip represented me in the case and he prepared an amazing file that had the judge stunned. Skip had caught my daughters mom and her mom in so many lies under oath that the judge had not choice but to rule in my favor and dismiss the case.The most recent case, I wanted full custody due to the neglect and lack of time my daughters mom was spending time with her. Skip told me i had to have evidence if i wanted full custody. So i documented everything that had happened since may of 2012 in case i ever wanted to go back for full custody. I retrieved every piece of evidence i could off of Facebook, twitter, and instagram. I turned over my evidence to Skip in November of 2013. Skip had a guardian appointed. The guardian came out and inspected both of our houses and gave his conclusion in may of 2014. His first proposal was shared parenting and equal time with each parent. I was not satisfied with that and neither was Skip. So we rejected the proposal and my daughters mom accepted it. We then had to go to court for a hearing since we could not agree with the guardian. I met with Skip several times before the hearing going over our case. he had me prepped and ready for the hearing. Skip had prepared a portfolio with all of my evidence and gave a copy to the magistrate, the Guardian, and her lawyer. There was 14 exhibits he had prepared. Such as, exhibit 12 pic 3. We went through the entire portfolio and nailed every point we wanted to make. When Skip was questioning my daughters mom he had her so flustered and uncomfortable. She actually admitted to not making choices in the best interest of our daughter and not being stable also stating that i was a great dad. I recently received the papers from the court ruling in my favor with me as the sole residential and custodial parent.I am a 26 year old male and now I have full custody of my 4 year old daughter. I could not be happier, I also could not have done it without Skip. I have won every case I have went into with Skip and if i ever need an attorney again I am sure I will call up Skip again.
My teenager was on the wrong path a couple years ago and it was necessary for us to hire a lawyer. Mr. Potter was recommended. It was a difficult time for us and there was much work to be done before we could move on with our lives.Skip put things in perspective for us and truly helped us get through it. He worked with our family, the court, and the procecutor on our behalf. He suggested changes we could make and professionals we could contact and concrete actions we needed to get back on tract. He presented our case and our progress to the judge and the procecutor and we felt like they were actually all there to help us and support us.Its been almost 2 years. Our son is going to graduate soon and head to college this fall. I was in a bad situation with the worst possible timing. They really helped me out, solving a few of my major headaches. I was stuck in a series of Catch-22s that didnt seem to end, and I didnt have a clue how to solve some of the issues I was facing. It seemed like every time I thought I found a solution, it wasnt an option. They helped me get the extra time I needed to set myself up to work through my problem. They also provided me with a solution at their expense when I couldnt find one. It really helped me out. The outcome was a lot better than it could have been, and the price was really reasonable. They worked with me on price and payment because of just how bad the timing was. It helped me feel a lot better about everything, and I dont know what I would have done without their help.

2022-03-14Not impressed at all…. I originally had another lawyer hired that was beyond understanding and reviewed everything with me, sent me a questionnaire to fine faults and to use to fight for me but unfortunately came down with Covid so I was in a rush to find a new lawyer. Someone through out Potter and worst mistake ever. He didn’t fight for me nor did he listen to me or try anything for me. Come to find out he represented my brother 4-5 years ago and did exactly the same to him. I could’ve walked into court and at least tried fighting for myself and got shot down without wasting money if I had known but I do know I would’ve fought harder than he did. Summer was amazing and who I kept in touch with the most and was way more understanding than Skip with his mono tone personality. If my cousins husband hadn’t became judge in BG I def would’ve went to him. Never rush into someone without reviewing them. Unfortunately I didn’t have anymore time left to decide.

2021-12-05I never write reviews, however my experience with attorney Skip Potter was so positive on two separate occasions that I feel obligated to share my experiences. I was involved in two cases in which I retained Mr. Potter. While I was confident of innocence, the local legal environment where I live is one of back room handshakes and leaves little room for defendants to have any positive result. I did originally choose Skip because he wasn’t in my city’s “boys club”, but was in a reasonable proximity. I read other reviews for attorney Potter with skepticism. Nevertheless, my fiancé and I retained his services and I was skeptical no more. When a similar issue occurred a short time later, we again asked for his help. I have a limited legal history, but from my perspective both were losing cases. Both were littered with conflicting statements and flat out lies from local law enforcement. I was blown away on both occasions. Not only did he get charges reduced to nearly nothing in regards to the first case, the second case was dismissed entirely. I genuinely dont know how he did it, but we are so thankful!! If you are considering an attorney for any criminal charges, trust me, choose Skip Potter. I am confident you won’t be disappointed! I wish you could give an extra star, because he definitely deserves it!!

2018-03-27Bring from out of State we turned to Google to find and affordable lawyer who wasnt just trying to make a buck based on their own lies and deceit! Taking our chances on these reviews we set out and hired Mr. Potter! We couldnt have been MORE please with the end results! Under the circumstances and not given much to work with Skip went above and beyond for our case. He truly put my sons best interest first! He was also very straight forward and honest. 2020-04-13I was referred to Mr. Skip Potter by a family friend. I have to say, I was extremely impressed with the services Mr. Potter was able to provide to me. He was very proficient, always kept me in the loop of the status and or situation of my case at hand. He is always true to his words and very honest!! If for some reason he was unavailable Summer his Assistant was always there to answer any questions you may of had. She is awesome as well! Everything he said he was going to do with my case is exactly what happened down to the last detail. 2020-12-14Skip and Summer were both amazing throughout the whole process! I was facing a very serious charge that would have been life altering. Skip was able to get my charge dropped lower and I was simply placed on community control. They were both VERY responsive any time I had concerns or questions. 2017-06-09Ive met with several lawyers in regards to my legal issues and Skip was by far the most genuine, authentic lawyer out of the three I was deciding between. Skip takes the additional steps necessary to do everything in his power to help the client as best as he can. The most substantial difference I noticed between him and other lawyers is that Skip genuinely cares about the client as a person. Im beyond satisfied with the outcome of my situation and dont think another lawyer could achieve the same result Skip did. He also has a great staff in Summer. Theyre both very genuine people which made for a positive experience.

2020-01-24Skip Potter is a great man and an even better lawyer. I had been charged with some very rough charges, that would have really put a damper on my career.
