This was our 1st visit here .. but definitely not our last .. the staff members were very pleasant and extremely helpful .. the food was delicious and very plentiful .. I got the chicken parmesan and Johnnie got the seafood platter .. we both had leftovers to bring home .. we were so full that we werent able to eat dessert .. but that didnt keep us from taking home some fabulous slices of cake and pie .. the menu has a large selection to choose from .. cant wait to go back again, theres so many more entrees I want to try ..
Made reservations for a 1960s classmate luncheon for 20 people and separate checks. They gave us a private section with an unbelievable waitress. She was very patient with all of us mingling. She kept drink orders and food orders straight. Good food, great drinks and good time.
Good food and service. Casual. Low to medium prices. Fireplace. Bar or dining room areas. Daily cheap specials for lunch like fish or chicken paprikash. Love the chicken parmesan! Best and most beautiful desserts and deli for dine in or take out. Always have homemade gigantic cream puffs, some sort of decadent cheesecake and other beautiful cake!
After a slightly rough, but fully understandable start, they pulled out all the stops and totally rocked our lunch. They were profoundly gracious hosts, and the hostess cared for us, personally. Every bite was excellent, and we left stuffed to the gills!. When in the area, we will DEFINITELY return. Kraut balls are a must-have, sandwiches were amazing and large. French onion soup was excellent. It may have been my first stop, here, but it wont be my last!
Simons has been around forever. I remember back before they redid the design that we used to go there for matzoh ball soup and sauerkraut balls. Now that Im older, I appreciate the local small town feel when I stop in for a sandwich and a beer. Would highly recommend their carrot cake! It is out of this world!
Used to eat here often for good home cooked meals. The last 2 times the food was not up to their usual standards. The vegetables were over cooked, no seasoning or butter, corn mixed with green beans! The meat loaf was burned and the pork chops were nasty. They were out of baked potatoes.. The waitress flew by our table asking how everything was yet not stopping for the answer. When she returned we told her, about the food.all she said was Ill tell the cook. She brought the bill without another word. We will not Return! We have eaten there many times before this is sad.
Good old fashioned deli. Theyve expanded since I was last there, adding the shop next door and building a bar/counter seating area and larger dining area. They seemed to a bit under staffed, like every restaurant in the covid era. The food was good, as always. They also shrunk their menu a bit from the last time I was there. Hopefully, when things get back to normal, everything will be made whole again
Absolutely love their corned beef sandwiches. You can ask for lean Its just 50 cents or a dollar more. Theyre quick in their preparation and I believe its approximately $10 for an 8-oz sandwich. The last time I came I needed sandwiches for five people and it was more cost effective to just order the corned beef from the deli and make the sandwiches myself since it was $14.99 a pound. Try them out I think youll like it.
I have never been disappointed eating here. Corned Beef Sandwiches are great and just as good as Slymans. Actually, better because they cost less. Chicken Cobb Salad in a Tortilla Shell is the bomb. Cant go wrong here. Full service bar as well as regular dining area. One of my favorite places to visit.
All I can say is WOW! The food was fantastic (the beef stroganoff tastes like moms home cooking), the restaurant was very clean, and our server Emily was outstanding (many thanks for your service and being super at what you do). One of the most pleasant and enjoyable dining experiences Ive had in years. I was in the area but live 35 minutes away and I would make the drive just for dinner.
Mom and I stopped here around 2pm today. When Dad was still with us, they used to visit Simon’s. My first visit. Food was fine...definitely not the best Reuben I’ve had...not the worst. Mom had City chicken which she liked. Our server Lorna was great. The place looked clean...but first thing I noticed walking in was a bad smell that turned out to be coming from the bathrooms off the lobby. We walk toward the back and later I visited the ladies room and the odor of mould/sewage hit me. The ladies room definitely needs a power scrubbing of floors and drains and under sink counter. I assume the men’s room too.For this reason I won’t return.
This restaurant is amazing! We had their New Yorker, which is a corned beef sandwich and it was loaded. The cheesecake there tastes like cheesecake from the cheesecake factory! The blintzes are amazing and their bagel and kid sandwich also was amazing! We stopped on our way to Pennsylvania and on our way home back to Michigan, went out of our way to stop there again and had corned beef sandwiches made up to go!!
So Friendly! The waiter was super sweet being attentive without being intrusive. Meals came out perfectly when we were done with our salads. Glasses refilled without having to hunt our waiter down. For dessert I ordered the triple chocolate layer cake and asked for 3 forks so my friends could help me with the calories - which they did without hesitation (do I have the best friends, or what!) Dont hesitate - go/enjoy and thank me later!
Our group of 28 enjoyed the separation from the dining room in a well appointed side party room. Preparations were excellent and the pre-ordered party trays of vegetables and cheese were very fresh and attractive. Servers Kris and Steve took good care of us with drinks and dinner. Food as always is very comfortable and delicious. My first party here, but Ill be back.
Ohhhh, my gooooodness, I could eat Simons Delis pork chops every day of my life! This restaurant is not overly fancy-shmancy but, holy cow, theyre doing it RIGHT! I live in Akron and I dont mind schlepping out to Brecksville for their pork chops, ohhh, yummm! Go! Youll thank me!
Best Cobb salads on this planet. One of the few places I’ve ever been to that serves city chicken which is a huge novelty for me. When they make the bagels fresh you absolutely can’t find a better one in the area. Been a customer for 20+ years and applaud their consistency of serving up great food
Came for breakfast. The experimence was kind of weird because the guy at the front signaled to us that hed walk us to a table so we followed but he walked directly into the back kitchen so we sat ourselves. The waitress seemed confused as well and helped us without asking us to move, which was nice. We didnt get silverware until we asked but it was probably because we sat at a random table. It wasnt a big deal. The 3 star rating is because the food was mediocre. The restaurant is cheap both in quality and price.
My co worker brought me here and the food is absolutely delicious. The food is so good that I went back a second time in the week even though our server wasn’t friendly or helpful. Our bad luck, we had her a second time lolThey have a little bit of everything, it’s very clean and tasty. The desserts set up as you walk in make it a killer hard to be good, we gave in the second time around.
I ordered a Reuben sandwich and coleslaw with coffee xcetera the sandwich was perfectly made along with a dill pickle the sandwich was high quality had a very reasonable price in my opinion and the coleslaw was pretty good also how come back and by the way they serve corned beef and cabbage everyday and this large portions Ive had that before alarm time ago
We would up at Simons because we needed somewhere quick. The waitress said Order deli so we did. The kraft balls and mozzarella sticks were very good. I especially liked the horseradish sauce for the balks. The corned beef Reubens were very good. No room for dessert so I got a cream puff to go which I really enjoyed the next day
Good tip from Good Day Cleveland. From what we viewed on the TV program and our own experience, Simons is dishing up some fine food. High marks for their Matzo ball soup and French Onion soup which were seasoned very well...Roast and Corned Beef selections were very tender. Colel slaw is nicely shredded and dressed (Pleased to see that they drain the dressing before serving so the flavor is present but not the sloppiness of the dressing). Also really like the Potato pancakes that are used with the Corned Beef selection, making it a well constructed sandwich that doesnt fall apart. Even the pickle was extraordinary: crisp not mushy. We will be interested in making another trip very soon to sample the rest. Hoping their ribs are great too.
Best dessert selections! the triple mousse is amazing I have stopped to purchase just that to go for dinner guests, everyone loves it. Call ahead and u can get a whole cake to take if you stop in and they have it available in the case they will let you purchase the whole thing. Worth the price.
Ordered the large corned beef sandwich called the downtowner.. Was supposed to be 12 ounces, was more like 8 oz. The corned beef was terribly dry, tasted like it had been pre cut earlier in the day. The steak fries were great and served hot that and the sweet waitress is the reason I have 2 stars
One of my favorite places. I used to work nearby and would grab lunch here from time to time. This is my wife and my place of choice to take a break during full days at Brandywine now. Their matza ball soup is the best Ive had, and I love ordering the Mediterranean platter. Their staff is extremely friendly, and Michael seems to always be at the door.
Lunch, Saturday, Feb. 2. My son had their hamburger and fries. This is our second visit. Four years ago was our first. My son (14) regards as one of the best burgers hes ever had - Cooked Medium. I enjoyed the Walleye Sand. from their ample and diverse specials menu. I did not eat the bun b/c the pcs. of perfectly deep fried walleye were 3 by 9! He got fries, I got o rings. O rings so good (his 1st ever, he has never eaten o rings before). Service - Excellent! AND took 2 pcs. chocolate suicide cake home to share with wife and daughter. Only regret, dont get to Brecksville enough
Went for lunch today , have eaten there several times , had the worst waitress, we were there for 1 hour and 20 mins , the restaurant was not even close to being packed , I think she forgot to put our order in , walked by us 5x times without bringing more coffee ,had our cups at the edge of table , had to ask for more coffee each time , many more mishaps to mention , clearly A was not meant to waitress. Disastrous!!
Ordered soup 1/2 sandwich. onion soup cold, had to send backsandwich good but had to pay 50 cents extra for lean meat, and $1extra for soup, price on menu was $7.99. Price on bill was $10.49.asked why the difference, and told for the $1.00 and .50 but thatonly comes up to 9.49. Some creative charging going on. Watchyour bill and food not that good.
The kids chicken tenders were raw in the middle. Glad we cut into them before the kids had a chance to take a bite. Not much was done to ameliorate the situation other than make us a fresh order with one extra tender. Pasta salad was lazily made with big chunks of onions.
MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN TO SIMONS 3 TIMES, THIS TIME WHEN WE WENT, THE WAITRESS SAID. ILL BE RIGHT WITH YOU BUT SHE WENT TO THE BACK TO GET A PATRON A DRINK. NO PROBLEM, THEN SHE CAME BACK , AND WALKED PAST US AGAIN. THEN PROCEDED TO TAKE HIS ORDER. STILL NO PROBLEM. THEN SHE WENT TO THE BACK AGAIN. WE WERE LEFT STANDING FOR ALL OF THIS TIME. I AM HAND I CAPED, AND IT IS VERY HARD TO STAND FOR MORE THAN 10 MIN. WHEN SHE WENT TO THE BACK ,WE WAITED FOR APPOX ANOTHER 6 OR 7 MIN. SO WE LEFT. I WILL SAY THAT THE FOOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN GREAT, AND THE DESSERTS EVEN BETTER. BUT THIS WAITRESS NEEDS TO BE A LITTLE MORE OBSERVANT.
Went their for a very important reason, we had 7 different checks and we had horrible service, the waitresses were very ignorant and disrespectful, made us wait for refills, and couldnt remember our orders forgot food and everything came out cold and when asked to speak to manager the owner came over and asked if we sent back our food and when told that they were just going to microwave it we said no..She was also very ignorant and disrespectful...I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE!!!!!

2021-08-25The food was all good. The menu selection was good and service was top notch. Try the corn beef or the pastrami youre going to love them. Dont forget the desert, we had a cream puff and it was just as good as the sandwiches.

2022-03-05We’ve dined at Simon’s for years with great service and tasty hot food. Last night was a nightmare. Surprisingly, it was not as busy as we had anticipated given the first Friday of Lent. No line. No wait. We were greeted by a lovely hostess and seated in a booth at our request. We were greeted by our waitress and she brought us water upon our request. It then took 21 minutes (we timed it) for our waitress to return to take our dinner order. Meanwhile, many guests who came in well after us, were seated and eating. I asked another waitress walking by if we could have our order taken. I received her reply, “we’re busy tonight”, and she kept walking past us. Our waitress walked by our table 4 times saying “I’ll be right with you”, over that 21 minutes. She then took our order. Our soups came out literally lukewarm. ( I won’t eat a cream-based soup if it’s not hot with steam rolling off of it. ) We asked to have the soup heated and received a glare with no reply, grabbing the soup, banging my soup spoon against the side of my bowl 5 times and placing the spoon on top of my wrapped crackers. Not a “sure” or “sorry about that”, not even a grunt. No eye contact. My husband walked up to the store front to the counter and asked to speak with the manager. She took 10 minutes to arrive to our table. Meanwhile, the soup had been returned hot. I ordered a side of macaroni and cheese at our initial order. It finally arrived 30 minutes later, before the manager came by, and it was cold to the touch. The manager took my Mac and cheese and it came back 5 minutes later. It was warmer, but not hot. Not sure what’s going on with the food coming out NOT HOT!After the end of our meal of fish fry, and after asking our waitress for utensils, we were almost finished eating, and the manager stopped by again. We asked her too, for utensils. She obliged but also forgot. So my husband ate his meal with his hands and his soup spoon. The manager came back, we asked for utensils again and she replied, “Damn!”, and went to get them and returned with them. So after over an hour, we finally finished our meal. The waitress was clearly in a foul mood. When we shared our experience with the manager, her reply was “She’s worked here for 20 years”, giving a grimace on her face. Given our waitress had no eye contact with us, would not communicate or appear to be engaged, this was quite honestly a frustrating experience. We planned to meet a friend and drove in 30 minutes away for a nice meal and good conversation. No apologies were made by anyone. The waitress took care of the bill and said, “Thanks for putting up with us.” We paid our bill in full. No discounts. No apology or “Come back again”, no offer of free soda. We’ve always enjoyed dining at this establishment. We’ve brought our relatives and friends from out of town (NY, NJ, Columbus, Cincinnati). We love the location, atmosphere and down-home menu with a variety of choices. But, sadly, we won’t be back.

2022-07-09My daughter and I were in the area from out of town, and decided to try Simons. We both had French onion soup and it was wonderful! I had a fish sandwich and she had the chicken sandwich with turkey, bacon, and mozzarella. They were both huge and very good. We got strawberry cheesecake and carrot cake to go, both were delicious! (They didnt my it home.) Also ordered a lox and bagel sandwich to go, cant wait to try it! Lots of leftovers 💜

2021-03-16Wow this place is amazing!! Its a very nice atmosphere. The tables were neat and clean. I had the French onion soup with 1/2 Ruben sandwich. The garlic bread that came with the soup was honestly the best Ive ever had. The sandwich came with 1000 island and real horseradish. It was so good! My friend had their Simon burger and said it was fantastic! He could tell that it was made from high quality beef. I cant wait to return and try some of their other meals.

2022-02-23I enjoyed their lunch special of Fried Bologna and tater tots. It was delicious and a treat from their regular excellent menu selection. Their corned beef sandwiches are the best and also excellent tuna melt sandwich. Breakfast items are also consistently delicious.

2022-03-17One of the BEST eggplant parms Ive ever had! Daughters Reuben was very good as well.Atmosphere is generic and unremarkable. Service was efficient, but not the least bit friendly.

2022-03-22Excellent service. Food very warm when served. Large group obtained meals in a close time frame. Everyone raved about the food. I had stuffed cabbage, which revisited me for hours accompanied with epigastric pain and fever for 2 days. It may be a coincidence. I still plan to return.

2022-05-06Simons made the food for my wedding and it was fantastic! Even a month later and a lot of our guests are still talking about how good the chicken was! Thank you so much for adding something special to my big day!

2022-03-08The food at Simon’s is always good, which is the reason we go back. Last night (03.04.2022), the service reached an all time low. Our server Chris asked to take our drink order and after she delivered three waters, she disappeared for 20 mins. During this time she walked by 4 times and said either I’ll be right back or I’ll take your order in a minute. When soup arrived and they were warm at best. When I asked her to heat it up, she said nothing and walked away. Not a word! When I finally found the manager, she was apologetic in her speech, but never said Im sorry for your experience or Im Sorry. After a discussions about make excuses for her, I asked for her for utensils since we were short one. Our food arrived and I ate my dinner with a spoon, since the manager never returned. When I flagged her down again, she said “dammit” I forgot. I did get a fork but I was done eating by the time it arrived. If Simon’s wants to survive, they will need a change of leadership.
