Siam Thai in other cities:
I would give it another star but it seems that I can never get sticky rice or the nam tuk with flavor... the nam tuk has been pretty bland and Ive always thought that Lard na is supposed to be this thick sauce to help ease the pain... not a soup that falls through the given fork... But then again, even the hot 8 was really bland of heat, lime, and fish sauce.Larb gai is tasty but then again there was no heat or sticky rice. Sadly, I find it heartbreaking to have either of nam tuk or larb gai without sticky rice.Johnny, our server was awesome and very patient with our disheartened reactions to no sticky rice. (I legit almost cried 😭😅)All in all the good experiences are an ebb and flow and nowhere else in Athens is doing anything remotely close; so, I continue to eat here because its the most different of Asian influenced restaurants in Athens. And def wanna say that when Siam is on point, its the best.
Even with the change of ownership, and a couple of lengthy closures during the pandemic, Siam Thai, formerly Thai Paradise, is still one of the best restaurants in Athens. Also, one of the few restaurants with an outdoor patio. Im a huge fan of Thai food, and they do it well.
My family had recommended eating here so I finally have made it and tried it.Came for lunch. Was served in a timely manner. Server was attentive and helpful with suggestions. Food portion was generous (ended up taking half home). The hot and sour soup is the best in Athens. I’d been told the food is spicy. I ordered a level 3 and the server cautioned me it might be hot. So she brought a side of Thai chili paste to add if I wanted it hotter. The garlic mushroom chicken was wonderfully spicy. I did end up adding a bit more spice but my mouth was at a comfortable level of fire when done eating. My daughter had the orange chicken and wonton soup and enjoyed it as well.Would definitely recommend and I will be eating here again
See update.Original: Appetizers (hot and sour soup and egg rolls) were great. Entree (hot and spicy chicken) was okay, but the onions were too many and hardly cooked. My stomach is turning at having eaten half an onion for lunch. Also, no beer? This is Athens, dude.Update: I went back today for a to-go bowl of hot and sour soup. I waited 10 minutes for it, and IT’S NOT EVEN THE SAME SOUP. It looks and tastes completely different.
I was hesitant about eating here as I am not a big Thai food person. I was pleasingly surprised to find that the also serve a wide range of other Asian cuisines such as Chineses and Koren. So I thought what the heck you only live once and its time to try something out of my comfort zone. I ordered the Naum Toak which is grilled steak thinly sliced with onion,s cucumber and tomatoes tossed with lime vinaigrette on a bed of lettuce. My wife ordered the Island Chicken which is chicken breasts lightly battered, fried and wok-tossed in a brown coconut sauce with carrot, onion, pineapple, and red bell peppers. So let me warn you that both of these are on the spicy side and they tasted sensational! The service was simply outstanding and the prices are very reasonable compared to the big city. Youll find no complaints from us! Great place, great food, and great service!
Before the pandemic this place was really great and I loved their Island Chicken a lot, however since the pandemic it has been terribly hard to get ahold of them, despite their hours online claiming they are open. My boyfriend called three times today and no answer. Sad, considering they could probably use the business if they lost a lot during Covid.
I love Thai Paradise and I order from them often, but we went to their restaurant for carry out and were extremely dissatisfied of their Covid-19 protocols. The hosts and cooks were all out on the patio drinking beer and playing beer pong without masks. None of them acknowledged that we were there or cared to stop playing their game. That is definitely not what I would want to see from a restaurant during a pandemic. I will not be eating there again until the pandemic is over and recommend that others should stay away as well.
This place is very good but, they use fish sauce in the curries so anything you take home has a very fishy smell once it cools off. Other than that the food is decent and the atmosphere is nice. Very small restaurant but, its cozy. The booths and tables are all set with walls between them so you dont have to look at your neighbor. Theyve expanded their menu from Thai to Asian (They now serve Chinese etc).
This is a place i can go everyday and not complaint. I generally go for lunch there and their lunch menu is perfect. One of my favorite food there is hot and sour soup ❤️. The atmosphere is great. Some of my friends have had parties and its a place where you can sit and talk with great food. Must visit if you are in Athens !! Hope the review was useful.
Thai Paradise has the best food, but the worst service that I have ever seen. My party and I were sat at a table and not a single server said anything to us for 20 minutes. I kept trying to get anyones attention but no one would stop at our table. The hostess did come and give us water and said that our server would be right with us. After another 10 minute wait and not a word from anyone, I had to leave. There was staff around the bar and door and once again no one said anything to us as we got up and left. Every time I go to this restaurant I experience extremely poor service and rude wait staff. On a previous visit, our waiter left in the middle of our meal and was nowhere to be found. We believe that he just left the restaurant. Finally another server came and handed us our bill without saying a word. I wish that the service would match up to the excellent food served at Thai Paradise. These experiences make me not want to come back.
We have gone to Thai Paradise quite a few times since it opened and the food has always been very flavorful. The reason for the less than stellar review is that all too often our food is far too spicy for us to eat. We enjoy spicy food a lot but theres just a great point where it just hurts and no matter what number of stars we all for its not consistent. This last time I confirmed with the woman in the phone that you order out of 5* and she said no its our of 10. So knowing the usual heat level I asked for 3 out of 10 for me and my wife. The food was so spicy we couldnt eat more than a few bites. This is a constant problem do we have decided we probably wont order again
The staff is very friendly and good at what they do. The food is on a whole diffrent level, if you want it spicy, and I mean having some serious heat, they can and will accommodate. If you want less heat, they can do that too. All the food my wife and I had was fresh tasting and fast, and the drinks were awsome too. I highly recomend this place if you like Thai food, and I cant wait to go agien myself.
Aside from a wait time of 30 minutes to get seated, and the food taking another 20, it was all worth it. The pad thai I had was excellent. Although I was the DD the smell of delicious wines also hung in the air. The outside patio was a perfect spot. When crunched from time due to the long wait time our waitress was expeditious in bringing our checks and togo boxes. It was overall a very good dining experience.
Thai paradise has become a favorite of my family. The food is spectacular, the prices reasonable, and if you like it spicy, just ask the cook to make it Thai 10 hot. (Warning, this is ACTUALLY spicy).I love the garlic pepper calamari, and their cocktails are super tasty.
We ate there last night for dinner, and went back AGAIN today for lunch!!!!!! ( which we NEVER do, because we usually want to try a new place) Everything was delicious and very fresh tasting!! We received excellent service both times. Drunken noodles, crab rangoon, hot and sour soup, calamari....ALL very good! Tender meat, crispy vegetables...you can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they do!! KUDOS!! The patio is super cute and cozy, to! Keep up the good work cuz I cant wait to go back!!
This place has amazing food, great staff and on point atmosphere. Its small but never feels like youre crowded or rushed. Servers are very knowledgeable about menu items and service is always quick but it doesnt feel like their pushing you out the door. Glad theyre finally open again!
Small location, lots of flavor. Great for sharing dishes and the portions are large considering how tasty it is. Waiting on their reopening and am excited to see any changes they made in the interim. Glad that theyre coming back, it must be hard to deal with something so random closing them for a while.
This place has me very torn. I want to desperately love it because it’s a very inviting atmosphere and the staff is always unbelievably nice, however the food is just not my style. I continue to go because all my friends love it (as the food is great, however I’m not an Asian food lover) and the staff is amazing. I will keep going to support such a great restaurant until I find a dish they serve that I like.
I came down to Athens from Columbus OH for a visit and to see my mom. I took her out to lunch here a couple weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. I could tell that they used fresh and good quality ingredients. Every part of the visit deserves a 5 star rating including the service. I have no idea why this place wasnt packed. Location could be part of it, although its pretty close to uptown. If you havent tried this place you should.
I ordered garlic chicken without bell peppers. It was very spicy, but nonetheless fantastic. Quick service as well. I got there around 8:40, so I decided to take my food to go since they close at 9. I was told that Id get my food would be ready in 15 minutes, but I got it in 10 minutes instead.
Celebrated my birthday with a DELICIOUS Pad Lao with tofu and veggies. My daughter had Pad Thai and my husband (Mr. Steadfast Finicky) who began dinner as a skeptical visitor had Pad See You and LOVED it. 20 minutes later of almost virtual silence all plates scraped clean.😋 Also, they were very accommodating with gluten free and vegan requests. We will definitely be back...in a day or two! 😉
Normally I would rate this place a 4. The quality has been going down. I only get one dish so it has been noticable. They frequently get my order wrong, as if they dont read the order fully. This past time I asked for a refund so I could leave on my trip but was told that cooking a new curry fried rice would be faster than getting my money back. This was false. The replacement dish was gross and left a bad aftertaste. Definitely not coming here again. Also, very overpriced. They have no competition so theres no price comparison in town. I suggest driving to Columbus or Parkersburg for thai food.
Thai Paradise is one of those local gems you find in a town. The location is not in what I would call a main area but when you find it, go! The lunch menu is large and offers not only Thai cuisine but Chinese as well. Obvious care goes into the preparation of offerings. Portions are large, prices are reasonable and staff is always friendly. At times, the wait can be long but the food is always worth it. My favorites are the lettuce cups, singapore noodles, general tsos chicken and yellow curry with chicken.I have yet to be displeased with my meal and would recommend giving it a try!
Me and my husband along with friends visited Athens to see the beautiful cherry blossoms last week. We had lunch here and food was very delicious. Being vegetarians we ordered Singapore noodles, house fried rice, drunken noodles and pad Thai, all with added vegetables and tofu accompanied by extra hot sauce and soy sauce.
I LOVE the food! It is the best Thai food in Athens. I go at least twice a month. The most recent time was last Saturday. My boyfriend got pad Thai, (which he loves!) and I got sesame chicken with white rice. We got it to go. I was missing my white rice and my boyfriends meal was missing his peanuts and lime. (Which according to him is a staple in Thai food because of the spice) this was frustrating because in August I ordered war su gai and my sauce was not given to me. I appreciate it they comped the order and I was able to get the correct thing. However I did not get the sauce and couldn’t eat my lunch that day. I called immediately on Saturday to tell them and they said we could come pick up the items. Well being that we were already home, I didn’t want to leave again. They said they would have the GM call me. Well no one called, so I called back and Wednesday and an employee said yes I see the note right here, they must not be here because of the holiday. Well I called again today, the general manager Rashi, (spelling) was extremely argumentative. And had said they would not comp anything that they see where they messed up previously but she wouldn’t do anything. She offered 10% off the next order and at the end of the conversation offered a $5 gift card on a $30 order. However I couldn’t use both I had to chose one to use. I kid you not when I had to talk her for seven minutes on the phone. She said she was the owners wife. I’m sorry, but that to me is awful customer service. Especially because I go there so often. They have lost a loyal customer.
Vegetables in stir-fry were raw and hardly cooked...chicken was over cooked, hard and cold..not enough sauce...way too expensive..no combo plates on dinner menu. Let me add that service was great...no problem there. Nice atmospere. We didnt complain as we just wanted a quiet dinner with our kids but after the manager came to our table inquiring about our food, I just had to be truthful. She seemed very defensive rather than appreciative of the honest answer. Tell you what....we will try you again! Maybe you just had a bad night.
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant and unfortunately was unable to even try the food. I called ahead to see what time they served lunch til. I spoke to a foreign lady and had to repeat myself 3 times before she understood me and said 4pm. I went there only to receive the dinner menu and when I asked about the lunch menu they said they do not do the lunch menu on the weekends. I explained that I drove 30 minutes to get there and was told on the phone prior that they served lunch till 4pm and asked if I could receive the lunch prices. They told me they were sorry that they messed up but they would not give me the lunch prices. I myself work in the food industry and have for years and know that the customer is generally right, especially in a case like this. The restaurant should have given me the lunch prices because it was their fault that their employee messed up and told me the wrong information. Its a shame I will never give this restaurant a try because of the way management poorly handled a situation that was clearly their fault. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Our Entrées were fine. The Papaya salad - horrible. And that really would have been alright, if not for the floor manager that persistently questioned why we thought it was bad, and then refused to grant us another appetizer in its place. Something about fresh ingredients and company policy. Whatever the reasoning, theres no excuse for such a policy or impolite service.
I would give it a solid 4 or 5 stars, but they use way too much sweetener in everything from pad Thai to the teas. I figured Id give the cranberry Thai tea a try, since the Thai tea (milk tea) was way too sweet, but it is sickly sweet, so Im not sure if I can drink it without adding more tea...
I dont get to go there as often as I like (which would be daily truth be told) - this has to be the best value, atmosphere and taste in Athens (and there are a couple of quite good restaurants here ). Thank you for doing your jobs so well and making our community that much richer for it.
Never order out here. Never get crab fried rice.. UNLESS you want to pay $13 for just a spoon full of crap. JUST RICE... No crab. No shrimp. No nothing. These people giving 5 stars... Straight liars. You all below me should be ashamed of yourselves. Save your money. Youre welcome.
I ordered a food and I asked for no onion but it came with onion! it took them more then 10 mins to come and take the food back to fix it. I have not got any apology. After waiting for 30 mins, the food did not came and I had to leave without getting food or an apology. I am pretty unsatisfied and I would not visit them again.

2021-09-26Thai Paradise just open with new ownership!Their food was so good! I recommend to try Pad Thai, Pad Kaprow and garlic pepper calamari! (Thats what I got) they all taste like home in Thailand with fresh ingredients. Its better than before! If last time you were here you didnt like it that much, come back, it will be better FOR SURE!If you never been here before, give it a try and you will love it!The menu might be change a little bit, but only good stuff!

2021-09-30My friend and I went to the town and stopped by. They’re just reopened with new owners. Foods was delicious and I can tell that they use a fresh and good quality. I recommend the drunken noodles and fried rice. The papaya salad and Nam Tok are Signature dishes. You can tell them to do like no/ less spicy. Don’t forget to try Thai tea. The owner came to asked us if we’re satisfied with foods or need anything that they can deserve more. Staff very friendly and I absolutely want to go back and try another menus in the future.

2022-04-02I got the chicken pho, and flavor/temperature wise the food was good. Was it 2 hour wait good? Absolutely not. We waited at the door for 15min before anyone even acknowledged that we were there. It took us TWO HOURS to get our food once we were seated. The wait staff was not attentive at all (although our waitress was friendly and apologetic.) None of the customers were happy. In fact, the people at the table beside us left after waiting an hour. If you were there 4/1/22 from 7-9pm, I know you feel my pain. Poor service all around.

2022-04-24Wow, talk about beyond mediocre!! Taste a shrimp….oh no… no different from a piece of chicken….. the sweetness…. All right up there, all sugar and fat…the art of the Thai cuisine…..nope….not there…all filled with sugar. A diabetic? …. likely shock outcome…. Avoid if you like quality!!

2022-04-02My friends and I arrived at Siam Thai at 6:55 pm. We did not receive our food until 8:55 pm. We were told multiple times that it would not be much longer. Several people left before they received their food. Food wasn’t great snd service was absolutely terrible.

2022-02-28My wife and I take a weekly road trip to a different county seat in Ohio and eat at a local restaurant when were there. When we visited Athens County Siam Thai was our chosen restaurant. It was a late lunch time and the service was quick and friendly. The food was fantastic! It was a great choice.

2021-02-15Used to be my favorite place but not anymore. Crowd is making place go crazy so much that customer service is going down. Ordered vegetarian dishes. Received chicken dish and bland fried rice. We had to throw the food in the plate at home. When returned never got a Sorry from any of the restaurant manager, employees anyone. Instead what they did is made 1 dish and other same in box. I had to ask them in restaurant to make it Not bland. So they took the same remaining rice threw spices in it and gave it back lecturing how should I be ordering next time. Ultra pathetic. Food used to be good, but hey looks like they have too many customers so atleast I wont be going there. Attaching images as well.

2022-02-27General tso’s chicken is completely different with the new ownership. It used to have a spice kick to it and it had water chestnuts in it as well. The general tsos is very bland now and no water chestnuts. 3/10 recommend this meal. I’m sure other meals are great!

2021-05-30Good Thai food. Had the pork Lardh Na. Not spicy at all. Didnt ask how many stars for heat. Huge portion, lots of meat. Only doing take out now
