Inexpensive compared to other vet offices. Best vet I have ever been to. Nina’s comfort seemed to be one of his top priorities! Even though I was late they still took me in and provided quick service. When Dr. Kim walked in he noticed my Nina is a little nervous but also protective of her mommy, so he suggested that he hold her in his lap, pet her and give her a treat before moving forward, just to show her that everything is ok. He was very respectful when telling me that she is a tad overweight and I need to make some changes😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Dr. Kim caringly cradled Nina while the vet tech tried one leg to draw some blood, and unfortunately it didn’t work on the first one. But she did not just keep poking my dog, she suggested Dr. Kim do it but he encouraged her to try again. So, she took a deep breath and tried the other one (she seemed nervous, so she must have been new at this). But she got the blood they needed on the second try☺️ I think I have finally found Nina’s permanent veterinarian!

Follow up to a review posted by my son. He was upset because our dog did suffer needlessly. Dr. Kim never spoke with me about this, and no one ever called to follow up to see if Ollie was ok. I do not post but after reading Dr. Kim’s response and all of the blatant inaccuracies, I feel compelled to share my experience. My 5 pets were patients of Dr. Kim’s for 2 years, beginning Oct 2019 (Georgie, Chance, Luci, Niki and Ollie). Ollie was neutered on Tues Oct 12, 2021. I did not purchase a plastic Elizabethan collar because I had one at home and it was not included in the $500 neuter fee. 20 years ago, before becoming a nurse, I managed an animal hospital and I tend to hang on to things I may need again.Ollie was obsessed with the surgical area right away, much more so than my other male dogs. The razor burn, visible in the photo, likely also contributed to the irritation and discomfort. He could not eat or drink with the plastic collar on. Removing it at all proved to be risky because he would go for his backside in an instant. Even though I work from home, and he was not out of my sight, he got a couple licks in, one time, that first day–literally a few seconds. After that, if the plastic collar had to come off, he wore an inflatable or soft e-collar for added insurance, even while supervised. On Fri Oct 15, Ollie had some swelling. I took him to Dr. Kim’s office. He wore the inflatable collar for this visit and in the car. I did not see or speak with Dr. Kim. It is true that I mentioned to the woman at the desk that Ollie couldn’t fit through the narrow hallway from my office to the kitchen, or to the door to go outside, with the plastic collar on. He also banged into everything inside and outside while wearing it. I asked if the plastic collar in the next size smaller might be worth trying. She took Ollie in back, came out and said no. I purchased a soft Elizabethan collar to try for supervised bathroom trips outside. I could hear Dr. Kim say from the back room that I should be using the plastic collar. There were people in the waiting room, so I did not mention what we were doing at home with the plastic collar, how I’d gotten a larger crate to accommodate the collar, or the added precautions we had been taking. On Sat Oct 16 I called the clinic about 8:30 am. The swelling increased overnight - walnut size to lemon. With my background, I knew we needed antibiotics. I was told I could not bring him in. I said I didn’t even need to speak to Dr. Kim, offered to drop off or wait while they just ran Ollie in back quickly. Again the answer was no. I begged (not demanded) for “15 SECONDS” of his time just to eyeball the surgical site. I said I understood they were busy, and if it required more time than just a prescription I would take him to the emergency clinic. I thought I was asking very little. Still no. I asked the woman on the phone to make sure to tell Dr. Kim that I did not think he should schedule and perform $500 procedures if he was too busy to provide the bare minimum follow up.From there things got worse. We went to VCA emergency clinic but could not be seen. Every emergency clinic within a two hour radius was on diversion, only accepting life-threatening emergencies because of staffing. We could not get in anywhere, and called periodically for status updates. On Sunday, a nice tech said to bring Ollie in. She met us in the waiting room and confirmed the infection, but since it was not currently life-threatening, there was nothing they could do.Dr. Kim did not speak to me about Ollie’s procedure, discharge plan, follow up, or my concerns. He was not aware of our level of oversight and diligence, yet he made assumptions that influenced the level of care he was willing to provide. Regardless of his perceptions he should have provided a 15 second visual follow up and 5 min of staff time. Even if I had made mistakes, he chose to let an animal suffer.Pics:- soft collars - feeding, going outside- plastic collar – banged up and cracked from so much wear- scrotal sac (razor burn visible) morning of 16th

My two dogs have been going here for at least 4 years and we are so happy. Dr. Kim is kind and gentle with both dogs and doesnt suggest services he doesnt think they really need just to make money (like our last vet did). The staff is very professional and I have never waited more then 5 minutes to be seen. They are also great with follow up. I felt like the techs really cared about my dog and I also liked that they did respond to emails, which not all vets do. I would recommend to anyone.

We are very comfortable with taking our dog here. She gets the right kind of care (not over-the-top = $$$). Dr. Kim was able to diagnose an allergic reaction that she had in the back of her throat that two other vets missed. The staff is very caring and friendly. We are glad that we switched vets.

I went there for a consultation for my sick cat and paid $295.50 to get his bloodwork done along with a few injections to rehydrate him and try to stimulate his appetite. Dr. Kim left me a message explaining that the blood tests were inconclusive. My cats condition did not improve, so I called them back three times to try to speak with Dr. Kim again at the very least. I never received another call back and eventually gave up and went to another vet.

I wanted to establish care for my recently adopted kitten as the kitten had been seen at Shaker Square with her litter-mates via the Humane Society. I was told by the Humane Society that my kitten tested positive for parasites (test performed at Shaker Square); she was having pretty bad symptoms, so I wanted to get her treated promptly. I called Shaker Square every day for a week and a half with no answer. I left several voice messages and finally received an email confirming that my kittens litter tested positive for Giardia and coccidia. I promptly responded, asking if I could get the treatment for my kitten, with no response again. After waiting several days for a response, I finally decided to go into the office to see if I could get the medication as my kitten was becoming pretty sick, and I didnt want to wait for the office visit I had scheduled a couple of weeks out. Upon arrival, the receptionist was extremely rude and defensive. I calmly explained that I just wanted the appropriate medication for my kitten, and after 30 minutes of waiting, she finally agreed to dispense the medication. The lack of communication and poor customer service prompted me to switch care for my kitten to another clinic. Please be wary of this clinic, as the staff will not advocate for or look out for the best interests of your pet.

I couldn’t give a higher recommendation to Shaker Square Animal Hospital. As an owner of a dog who can have handling issues and has a tendency to be a bit dramatic, I was so thankful for how caring and understanding the whole team was at SSAH. They were so sweet to Remy and did so great with him every time we brought him in! They were very responsive to questions or concerns I would call with, and their pricing was really great too. We moved recently and our new vet has big shoes to fill! Thank you Dr. Kim and team for all you did for us while we lived in the area!

Convenient and reliable. Dr.Kim is patient and friendly. He even knows that the name of my cat, Geralt, is from the Witcher. Recommend!!

I added a new puppy to the family recently and started taking him there, Dr. Kim and staff are great. I was so pleased that I transferred my other two dogs care there as well. I am a big fan of Dr. Kims more natural/homeopathic approach to care. The location is excellent for us as well. I strongly recommend.
