Dont believe the hype. This is nothing but a tourist trap. The shop is so small you can barely turn around in it. They are selling overpriced Ritter candy bars -$5 each when you can buy them for 2.49 each at Target or pretty much any grocery store. I bought a pecan turtle and the caramel was so hard it broke off the chocolate when I tried to take a bite. Masks are required but the woman working there making chocolates was playing on her filthy cell phone with an ungloved hand WHILE making the candy. Yuck. No hygiene standards at all but I had to wear a mask. Unbelievable. She never even looked up once to greet or welcome us, which was very off putting, especially since we were in such close proximity to her in such a small shop. She was obviously aware of our presence and we were the ONLY PEOPLE in the store at that point. We also had to listen to her conversation with someone about her booster shots when we first stepped in the door. Yeah, I really want to hear about the employees personal medical info while shopping for candy. NEVER AGAIN.
Great selection of chocolates and candy, a little on the pricey side though. I almost always stop at Schmidts Sausage Haus whenever Im in CMH, but dont always take time for the fudge shop. I recently did. They have chocolates commonly found in Germany such as the Milka and Toblerone brands. I bought some milk chocolate with orange flavored filling which were great, along with some Milka and Toblerone bars for my family. The staff were very friendly to me and another customer who wandered in after me.
Some of the best chocolate and fudge in Columbus. Nice traditional chocolate shop featuring multiple varieties of house made fudge, chocolates and a selection of some nostalgia candy. Very friendly and helpful staff as well as very reasonable prices for the high quality of their products. Would highly recommend.
Went here after a meal at Schmidts. Typical gift shop with homemade fudge and chocolates. That said, the employee was making almond crusted toffee--one of my weaknesses. I ended up buying an 8oz bag. $$$, but probably one of the best toffees I have ever had. They have many other chocolates there as well. Bring some extra cash and treat yourself to some very tasty chocolate.
I have lived in Columbus for 15 years and never been here before. Today I had some time and I was in the area and stopped in. Man this is some good stuff!! I didnt catch the guys name working, but he was so very nice and answered my questions! I bought so goodies and will definitely be back!!
This is a nice little store. Not only can you find some delicious candies/fudge here they have other souvenir type items. The prices are fair. The employee who was working was so friendly and helpful. He actually talked to my girlfriend and I about our trip and give us pointers on where we should visit while in town. He was a genuine person and he made us feel very welcome! Highly reccomend you stop by
This is the best candy and fudge shop in Columbus. Their turtles, buckeyes, peanut butter cups and of course fudge are unmatched in quality and taste. The prices are very good too, almost too good in comparison to the quality and delicious product provided - but Im not complaining! :)The customer service is out of this world and you can tell that your business is welcome and appreciated. I recently had an inquiry on the status of some gift orders I had placed on their website and received a friendly prompt response and was also able to call and speak with Tim, who was just an absolute pleasure to speak and work with!Tim also let me know that there is a Village Lights event this Sunday, December 2nd, where you follow the luminaries from shop to shop and enjoy the sights and tastes of the area. I had no idea about it however am so happy Tim made me aware. Hopefully my family and I can attend and of course stop back by Schmidts for more treats! Please go visit this wonderful location and wonderful people who run this shop. Its in beautiful, historic German Village and I can promise you wont be let down. Now, you may gain a few pounds from all of the delicious offerings but dont say you were not warned! Also please dont be selfish and keep them all to yourselves lol. They have an amazing website where you can order their treats and other gifts to send to your loved ones outside of Columbus or Ohio. We sent some to my parents and my in laws up in Cleveland :)Ill be back again, and again because you just simply cant match their confections and customer service!
There a few times that an adult can feel like a kid in a candy store and visiting here was one of those times! From the local artwork to seeing the candy being made in large copper pots and on a marble slap this place was a visual delight. The shelves and shelves of hand-made chocolate candies made me question my adult decision making skills because I could have easily spent a hundred dollars here. An amazing and delicious experience!
There selection is so good. The chocolate covered almonds are to die for! I have also gotten assorted wafers and they are pretty delicious. The staff are kind and friendly. Would totally come again. The prices are pretty OK. (If you have a high/unlimited budget.) Good way to end lunch/dinner at Schmidts Sausage Haus
We were just leaving Schmidt’s Sausage Haus around 9:30 and happened to walk by the Fudge Haus when Tim came up and asked if we wanted to check it out! He just needed to get ribbons but still let us come in and browse. Upon telling him it was my birthday he let us sample some chocolates and provided me with a special birthday discount! Tim was overall a very wonderful person and was extremely nice! I will definitely be recommending Schmidt’s Fudge Haus to all of my friends as we felt extremely welcome and had a wonderful close to our evening!
Everytime I am in Columbus I go there. For sure it’s the best candy and fudge shop.Their staff is always friendly and I always feel really welcomed!!Their chocolates and fudges are delicious!!German Village is a nice and pretty area. Good to go with family and friends!!
My sister placed an order in early December of a chocolate order for my mom for Christmas but something happened and she had to place the order again in January. We received the box of chocolates in mid January with a hand written note apologizing for the delay and to inform us they included extra chocolate products to show how sincere they was for the delay. It was the hand written note that really made the difference. They really care for their customers which made the chocolate all the more delicious!
This store has a nice selection of sweets to chose from and some nice souvenirs. The employee, tim was great and super friendly! He made us feel very welcome and gave us tips on what to do while in town! Lovely little shop and we will definitely stop back when we visit the german village! Highly reccomend it!
Everything is great, Im sure of it! They make all their own fudge and chocolate candies. Buckeyes are candies with chocolate and peanut butter and signify the buckeye tree and its nuts. Every candy shop makes them. But here they melt in your mouth and are so creamy. Now the best reason to come here for me is that they make their own sugar free chocolate candies! Thats great since I am diabetic. Peanut Butter Meltaways are the bomb. Chocolate Caramels and Peanut Chocolate Dips and Chocolate Covered Raisins and Peanuts. All in both regular or Sugar Free.... You will regret coming for one reason - you will want to buy it all. LOL
Was in there today and was looking at item number 1802 which is a 5 piece German village set. I was taking pictures of it to show my wife. I was interested in purchasing it. The sales clerk was excessively rude and talked down to me about taking pictures in his private business. Quick way to run off customers. I will never refer this business to anyone.

2022-03-08Its a trap! Youll probably end up walking over here if youre waiting for a table at the wonderful restaurant next door. And then youll see all these delicious treats, and because youre hungry (you did, afterall, come to eat a place that offers all you can eat sausage), youll load up on sweets that your waistline does not need. And boy did I.They have quite a few of the chocolates that are native to Germany and other countries, as well as a small selection of less-guilty sugar-free chocolate offerings.

2022-07-03A German Village treasure, this little shop is so much more than delicious fudge. Unique imported gifts and treats, nostalgic sweets, and much more. Topped off with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, Schmidts is well worth the visit.

2021-12-15Great place to kill some time if you are waiting for a table nearby at the restaurant. A large selection of German sweets, fudges, and assorted chocolates are on display. As this is effectively a gift shop, expect the prices and the quality to reflect that. Either way, they will have a favorite for everyone (I thought the buckeyes were very tasty!).

2021-11-24My family is visiting from Florida and of course the kids wanted to stop in here for some candy. My husband, who does not normally eat sweets, fell in love with the turtles. I found some nice souvenirs. Our kids found a few extra candies in the bag thanks to Tim, a true Willy Wonka at heart. Wish we had such a warm and inviting candy shop as this in our hometown. Keep up the good work Schmidt’s!
