Highly disappointed right now. I ordered a #17 (roast beef, turkey, swiss) and not only did I not get any roast beef at all on my sandwich but the meager amount of turkey I received is appalling. I cant believe I paid $11 for a bread and cheese sandwich. Never expected this from the sandwich factory.
“The best sub place in Youngstown!” Was my old review. This place has really went downhill. I’ve been coming here over 20 years, and the service and food has become very mainstream, the extra meat ribeye sub had like 4 pieces of meat, sandwich factory, more like ripoff factory. You guys lost our business.
This place has gone downhill drastically. I understand being short staffed and remain patient in those situations. When finally getting through on the phone to order, I am told “we are closing in 1 minute” when actually it’s 30 minutes before closing time, that’s frustrating considering they NEVER answer their phones anymore. Can’t support a local business if they don’t answer the phone.
Drove just under an hour to go here after hearing how “huge” these sandwiches were. Well, we order 2 Italian subs, “giants”, 2 steak and cheese half subs and a small turkey. We get our food, drive back home to be Very disappointed at the sandwiches. The Italian was like 1/4” total of the meat, cheese and lettuce combined. The bun was tasteless along with the sandwich being basically All Bun. Ends of sub, 2” both ends, Nothing there. So, we were absolutely disappointed with this “giant” sub and lack of ingredients on it and no flavour. Well, major letdown but will Definitely Not be going back OR recommending this place to Anyone. We will Definitely stick with Jersey Mikes much closer and their Giant is an Actual Giant that the sub is loaded with ingredients And Flavour. Went to the one on 46 and mahoning ave.
Ordered chef salad (wilted lettuce 1/8 mushy tomato , no eggs? ,Large chicken salad, chicken on side. Chicken crumbs only in box. (Employees must have been hungry) large breaded veggies ( taste like they were sitting there min 3 hrs. Mostly crumbs. Not the first time had awful food there but definitely the last🤢, firehouse, dibellas, save us , Please come to austintown!
Best subs in town. Would give em a 5 star but man u gotta get organized. If u order over the phone have a place to go for pick ups. No one knows where to go so everyone just meanders around in front of counter and looks at each other. Get some organization and speed things up.Several months later .... They no longer answer the phone to take take out orders. You have to place your order at the counter. The service has been terrible. Still the best subs in town, but with new competition popping up you have to wonder if they can remain in business. The life blood of any business is customer service and no matter how good your product eventually the customers will discover newer better alternatives. If you need help, hire! Increase pay! Attract good labor. I hate to see an icon of the valley failing
Robert Kelly, same exact thing happened to me today on ordering the #17, only small amount of turkey and no roast beef. Must be their way of saving money, as you dont find out until you get all the way home..Done with this place. And they do not answer the phone. While we were waiting for our sandwiches, phone ringing off the hook, never phased any employee there to answer it. Very disappointed in service and quality of sandwich.
Disappointed 😔 tht was my second time there and I ordered corn beef and swiss and a order of fries well the fries was great fresh hot and on point but whn I got to my sub it was kinda upsetting because I didnt get what I paid for meaning a nice size portion sub instead I got this😒 it was more bread ( tht I broke off )cheese and lettuce than anything and very dry due to not having enough oil on it.😔
Food is good the service not so much. Ordered a cold sub over the phone for a specific pick up time. Get there at the specific time and they hadnt even started making the sub yet. If youre in a hurry and trying to call ahead to save a little time dont waste the effort.
I know there is a shortage in the workforce these days, but I think their prices are too high. I always get the chef salad and it cost more and salad is smaller. Wingdings are too much for as small as they are and youre supposed to get 6 I always it never fails get 5.
I ordered the grilled chicken salad and it was very good. I did think the meat would have been different but it was more like sandwich meat...ya know sandwich shop...lol! Very nice people and they move quick. All of the food looked great! My salad was enough for me and my spouse. Nice! Thanks folks!
They dont bother answering phone. They put one very thin single layer of meat on a loaf of bread and if ya ask for extra meat they use 2 thin layers of meat and you are lucky if it even reaches both sides of the bread. These subs use to be made with an obvious pride and that is definitely no longer the case . Sad ...
This place is awesome. The best food & sandwiches, hot or cold, very good fried cheese w/marinara red sauce. Had the steak sandwich with peppers & onions & melted swiss cheese, was out of sight good. Tuna salad sub, another great sandwich. Everything on their menu is delicious. Ive been supporting this Sandwich Factory for more than 25 years. Still some of the best food around, very fresh & youll love everything.
My husband and I stopped for dinner and ordered subs. They were not exactly what we ordered. We asked for Mayo and the oil and vinegar on the side- we got Mayo on the sandwiches and NO oil and vinegar. There also was no tomato on our sandwiches. His was cut, mine wasn’t. I think it’ll be a long time before we return. Very disappointed! This was one of our favorite sub places
Even though they were extremely busy they still managed to get our order out to us in a timely manner. Only took like ten minutes. The one thing that frustrated and made no sense to me is we tried to call our order in and no one answered the phone. But, like i said they were really busy. In my opinion the best sub sandwiches around !!!!!
It would be really great if the employees answering the phone and making the sandwiches could follow directions. I placed an order for super bowl Sunday, and every sandwich was made incorrectly. I placed an order tonight, and again, the order was made incorrectly. This was the last time I will be ordering from here. How difficult is it to make a sandwich correctly???? It is such an inconvenience to order from somewhere and to get home only to discover the order is wrong.
Well since the review will only allow me to put a one star I wil just have to say I rate it 1/2 star for poor management and quality. We placed our order for a giant meatball and one half and got bread instead with one meatball on the half my wife ate had. The bread was even stale. If I wanted bread I could have went down the road to Giant Eagle and got dinner. I called and complained and the manager said that they put 4 meatballs on each half now because the owner made the change and there was nothing he could do and would not even try to make it right. I checked the other half and there was 2 meatballs cut in half making their 4 meatballs. When you say 4 meatballs you would think they would be whole ones not halves and they tasted old, dry and there was no sauce.Never going back again. What ever happened to try to make the customer happy if there is an issue obviously it does not exist here. $14 for bread.
Still my favorite sandwich shop. After all these years, none has been as good as this. We even get a bunch of Giants to eat on the flight home. Sandwich factory has made it 38,000 feet in the air and all the way back to Arizona. Now if I could just get my hands on a sweatshirt. =)
There are several very good sandwich shops in the area, but the Sandwich Factory is my favorite by far. None of the other chain sub shops can compare. To start, the bread they use is always fresh. The sandwiches are very large but are still reasonably priced. If you are not a big eater get the half. The subs are made fresh with the meats and cheeses sliced as needed when they are ordered. They have a wide variety of cold and hot sandwiches. My favorite is the meatball with provolone. If you like sub sandwiches, give this a try.
Unprofessional staff. While waiting for my order they told me that I was waiting on the fried cheese and 3 people that ordered after me got fried cheese and left while my sandwiches sat there and aged. They really need to do a better job at taking care of the customers that are waiting for their food already than the people that are coming in behind them. Wont go there again
Ok. I went to The Sandwich Factory on 11/12/20 to order a grilled chicken salad. By the way, I have bought this salad before. So, when I got home, I saw little pieces of what looked like flat pieces of bread. I told my friend, they put bread in my salad and no chicken. My friend said that flat stuff is the chicken. So I looked closely, and to my surprise, it was flat fried cold cut meat that looked like it was torn to little pieces instead of sliced. I guess they didnt have any real diced or shredded chicken breasts. They couldve told me. Im very disappointed right now. 😬 Not sure if Ill go back. But I tell you what Salvatores down the street makes great grilled chicken salads. Thats where Ill go next time.👍🏼
Food is pretty decent. Bread is extremely dry though. Everytime Ive ordered tomatoes on my sub they are almost always left off. Odd too that lettuce, onion, and tomatoes are the basic toppings for a sub here but you have to ask for tomatoes. The people working can be pretty rude. If you go later to closing its like a group of teens are left alone and they seem like they dont care.
Ordered 85 dollars worth of food. Employees were annoyed. After throwing food in the bag we specifically asked if the oil/vinegar/ranch was in bag, told it was, ( like how dare we even ask)....it was not! Called to complain, put on hold to get manager and then was hung up on. I end up with 9 subs no dressing!
The service was OK... My order was taken by someone who appeared to be new which isnt a problem. They wrote the sub number and everything correctly on the sleeve but when I got home to eat the sub it was a completely different sandwich. I went back in to explain what had happened and the manager said i would have to call in for her to do anything. Why? Im here, in person, holding the incorrect sandwich. Do something. All i asked for was a refund. That seems fair seeing as i have been coming here for years and i was polite, but what can you really expect from a group of teenagers? I may or may not go back. I felt disrespected.
Service is slow and extremely rude. The order is always wrong. Its a shame! This use to be a family favorite. We now refer to it as Mystery bag lunch. You never know whats in the bag, but you can bet its not what you ordered. This my be the reason the staff is so rude, they dont want you going back to complain.
Although the food is great, I believe it is wrong to turn their fryers off a half hr before they close. If they are open till 9, fryers should not be off till then. We went there tonight specifically for wings, fries, & veggies. What a waste of our time & gas as there is no sign stating fryers are turned off so far in advance of closing.
Ive loved sandwich factory since I was a kid and my dad would bring it home for us. Back then Id get the hot chicken sub which I absolutely adored. Today Im more partial to the #6, but no matter which sandwich you pick I can guarantee itll be delicious.I havent had too many of their sides, but the fries are that awesome festival style fry, hand cut and skin on. I could eat a bucket of those.
I used to be surprised at the bad reviews for this company until the last few times I have ordered food from them. Employees cant seem to get orders correct and it is written right in front of their face. I agree with multiple posts, young kids and adults moping around waiting to get off of the clock. Good food if it is actually made right. Best advice to give you if you still go here is check your order before you leave, it will save you disappointment and a trip or two possibly. This is why I do not support fight for 15 campaign, people want to make 15 dollars an hour and cant remember to put a straw or napkins in a bag, put the correct sandwich or side in a bag from an order receipt stapled onto the bag, cant remember to make a sandwich without lettuce 30 seconds after being told to. Thank you.
Love the Sandwich Factory, but the dinning room is ALWAYS filthy!! The same food splatters have been on the walls for months and baseboards are black with dirt. Not appealing to anyone dinning at the restaurant. Makes you wonder what the back looks like. There are always a ton of workers behind the counter. Send one out to do some housekeeping. Even if its just a little.
Usually very good however last time i asked for extra vinegar and oil and I swear to god they poured the whole bottle on. The sub was complete mush and disgusting, I however live to far to go back. I ate it anyway. The time after that I asked for extra again and its a good thing I did. there was hardly any on there that time. Get it right for once.
I have been going to Sandwich Factory since the 80’s. I have ordered the Number 4 no ham sub turkey has been my personal fav number, since then for over 35 years now. A true fact, I never had a bad meal and when I do stray from my magical number I have always been totally happy. The food is always delicious, and the 🍞 bread has never ever once looked or tasted more than a day old and easily measures over 6 inches for a half and everything is sliced fresh.
Meh. Personally I think the Poland Sandwich Factory is the best. Followed by the Boardman one. Then this one. I think the sandwiches are better made at their other locations. And I also think the staff is friendlier at the others. I will revisit here tho because I have an obsession with cherry fountain soda. 🤗🐽
This is the BEST i have tried the Columbiana store thinking o man yes the have one out here by the campground well i was very disappointed, This one in austintown where they started is the best by far love my #16 the meat at the store in Columbiana sucks i know they use cheap meat to be honest i will never go back to that one, i herd they have 1 in poland i am never in that area so i will never know about that one. A-Town location you rock.
Nasty employees, terrible service. food is great however the Austintown location is completely different from the Boardman, Poland, and Columbiana location which are great places to eat. Its like this place doesnt have a manager and theres just a bunch of kids and miserable adults running around just waiting to get off work. The phone rings non-stop and nobody answers it, then they give you an attitude when they finally do pick up.Would not recommend this place to anyone. Drive 15 minutes and go to the Board or Poland location!
When I was little, there was a sandwich factory in Warren that my mom always took me to. Then it closed (and now little wings is there, so it’s ok). When I found this one in Austintown, I was so excited and they lived up to my memories! The bread is amazing and when you add the vinegar, I melt. I’m almost drooling just thinking about their subs! I try and stop every time I go to Austintown now! Thanks for keeping a littles girls memories alive!
Worst service and sandwich I ever got. Sandwich sat on the shelf for over 10 minutes while everyone else walked in to pick up orders by the time I received it they said it was hot I picked it up walked out the door sandwich was cold that was supposed to be a meatball with provolone cheese I wanted a hot sandwich not cold never go there again. Definitely not the place to go if you want a hot sandwich terrible service
This may take a while, but please bear with me.About a year ago,I was traveling to Pittsburgh to visit my sister in a nursing home, and my only brother in the hospital, being treated for cancer. When I called totell him that I was visiting,he was not enthusiastic, due to his treatments.UNTIL I told him that I would just droo off the sandwich that I was bringing from The Sandwich Factory. He had raved about this place,so I thought I would indulge him, since cancer treatments dont do good things for your appetite. The sandwich I brought was tne only thkng he had eaten in days. The manager of the Sandwich Factory, after I explained the reason for needing the order so early (I called in to place it),actually came in early to make it,so I was able to pick it up as soon as the doors opened.Unfortunately,I lost my brother in December, but that one simple act of kindness earned them a lifelong customer.
Terrible eating in experience!!!!!...they close at 9...at 8pm every night they come out and vacuum with this super loud vacuum and start cleaning while your eating....so un-professional......they have did that three times in a row....found a new place down the street “RUSSOS PIZZA AND SUBS”...fantastic subs/wings and pizza and more...and the best thing...they don’t vacuum till after closing!!!!....bye bye sandwhich factory
I asked them for a little Xtra mayo and the jerks put Soo much Xtra mayo on my sub I would swear they were pissed at me....and for sure they werent.....it was like at least HALF A FRIGGIN JAR OF THE STUFF!!WONT GO THERE AGAIN!!!it was like a money-shot right on my sandwich!!
Best sub shop Ive experienced since The Yellow Submarine, downtown Youngstown and the campus of YSU....of course, I worked there, but I think the Sandwich Factory would have put us out of business...thank God that was in the 70s...whoa..just outed myself on my age...lol.. Keep up the great work guys!! jtr.

2022-03-12I love Sandwich Factory but the last handful of times I’ve ordered, I’ve been disappointed. It’s a cheap lunch or quick dinner which I appreciate but I just spent $3.50 on literally FIVE onion rings. 3lbs of onions costs $3. Barely any meat on our sub but a ton of lettuce— a literal salad sandwich. I love the food but it’s not worth it anymore. Literally every and any sub shop around will have at least double the protein on their subs compared to what SF charges for maybe 3oz of meat. They have maybe 2 friendly employees and that really depends on the day. I’ve been a restaurant manager for half a decade and I never judge based on one bad experience but after today, Sandwich Factory will no longer be in my regular rotation. Do better y’all.

2021-11-07I dont understand the bad reviews. I got the number 7- super sub comes with cheese, Salami, ham and turkey. Oil and vinegar, onions and I added pickles and mayo. This is half of it. I got the giant. It is huge and generous portion for the price. There is plenty of meat on it. They were very busy and not answering phones so you probably have to go in and order and have to wait for 20 minutes but it was worth it. Best sub Ive had in awhile. I usually love diles market in Leavittsburg but we ordered subs there earlier this week and they were awful. There was a ton of meat on them but the turkey didnt taste good.

2022-07-16Love this place until recently the quality control has been slipping. Got home tonight both sandwiches were not made right both dry no oil n vinegar no mayo etc. The cheese curds were over cooked. Such a shame and not worth the 23 dollars. Before covid this place was awesome.

2022-04-13I have been a customer since 1974 and have to say I was always pleased until today. I tried repeatedly to call and place an order the phone was not answered. I decided to drive to place my order much to my surprise the store was not open it would have been nice to have had that listed on your app. I was very upset that I made the trip for nothing . I do not like wasting my time and at this point do not know if you will be getting my business in the future . As a customer for 48 years I expected better.

2021-05-27Food was good. However the service unfortunately has taken a significant drop to service standards. I ordered my meal today at 7:15pm over the phone. They said 15 to 20 minutes. I arrived at 7:31. I did not walk out the door until 7:58. Meanwhile there are 4 others that had waited just as long while the kids(the entire staff was high-school kids) were laughing, playing and throwing fries at each other. I listened to the phone ring non stop till someone must have hung up and called back to listen to it ring again non stop. The associates were saying we close in 40 minutes. Im not answering. This use to be the place for 25 years I enjoyed. But the store hiring seems to be killing the quality/professional and service standards. It hurts to leave this comment as I grew up loving this place. But to feel like I am at a kids playground, while waiting for my food that took twice the time I was told. Not for me, but you are all welcome to try and I hope that your experience is SOOO much better than mine.

2022-06-26Amazing food, but they advertise open until 8 and shut down their grill and fryer at 7:30. So, sure - you can still order - from half the menu.

2022-06-02This place used to be delicious but the last couple times I’ve gotten it, it’s gone way down hill. There was even a hair in our sandwich during our last order.

2022-06-27They have the worst service. I rang the phone forever and never any answer. I’m afraid to even drive in because of the reviews I’m reading they might not even be open. This place used to be good but now it’s a joke.
