Salt fork lodge is a good enough get away if you live nearby. I don’t see it as a great destination point. The building could be a very beautiful property with its amazing architecture, but it doesn’t seem to be cleaned. For a property that could possible rake in 9 million+ dollars a year, you’d think they could have the windows professionally cleaned every once in a while. It’s hard to see the views because of the years of grime on some windows. The restraunt insides food was good, you could just tell it was ran mostly by underpaid teens, there was lots of confusion and seemingly poor communication between waiter and the cooks, as a couple of our meals where messed up.There where lots of fun activities you could go to, such as the game room and the pool inside. Would’ve been nice if there where more seating around the indoor pool though. My bigger complaint over all is the fitness center. I’m an active weightlifter so when I seen that there would be free weights and cable machines I got a little excited. When I got there I was shocked, no free weights, there was a two practically uses less back machines and a bicep machine, without a functional trainer or free weights it is basically impossible to get a normal work out in.For the yoga folks out there, your “yoga mat” is a wrestling padOverall though, it’s a good get away spot and I do plan on coming back (maybe in the summer next time)
I recently had my wedding here. It was beautiful, especially this time of year. I personally thought the food, lodge and staff were great. Yes, the lodge and cabins could use a little updating, but it has a lovely rustic feel! I, and the rest of my family enjoyed the visit very much! Would recommend.
Large state owned lodge and conference center. Has something for people of all ages. Room are tastefully decorated though some areas could use updating. Nice outdoor pool, patio, and picnic areas as well as several firepits though I thought th $75 to rent the firepits for 2 hours was priced too high.
We had our family reunion at the Lodge in July! Overall appearance of lodge is nice, but the rooms are very outdated, refrigerator didnt work and left over snacks were left from previous guests in the upper bunk (which leads me to believer sheets where not changed). The outside and indoor pools were really nice, but the indoor hot tub could use a little repair. The handle for the hot tub steps move all over the place. We reserved a pavilion by the lake and were expected to park in the general parking area, which is way to far to haul food, grilling supplies, chairs, etc. We basically drove on wide sidewalk and parked by the pavilion, but were told to move or wed get ticketed. There should be parking for each pavilion. In my opinion the rooms were very expensive. We used the fire pit, which they charge for as well. We opted to have a group breakfast buffet, but Id recommend going out to eat. The food will be better and A LOT cheaper.
The park is beautiful. So peaceful and well kept. My granddaughters and everyone else enjoyed the pool. The food at the lodge was very good, the service was exceptional...especially our server Jennifer. This park is truly an unknown gem and it was wonderful to see all the families and friends having so much fun and the memories will last a lifetime. We already made our reservation for next year.
10+ years buying yearly family pass . We were denied Fridays and Saturday swimming for lodge guests only , indoor pool shut out for months for guests only. They opened up 100% around July- August & extended our pass until 12 -31 . We lost out and they raised the pass price from 300 to 400 . Several attempts made to reach main office . Not one call back . Sad management ethic . Desk employees always cordial and sympathetic but their hands are tied .
We stayed in Cabin 54 and really enjoyed our stay, as it was clean and comfortable. There are plenty of things to do in the park and nearby. If you are planning a visit and want to rent a boat or ride horses, make your reservations well in advance to insure availability. My grand daughter left her phone in the cabin after check out and the staff was very helpful in getting her phone back to us.Overall, this is an awesome place to visit and the staff and management are doing a great job in displaying hospitality. We look forward to our next visit.
This place is absolutely awesome! I wished i had more money to stay longer!! 😆 the place has excellent customer service and the lodge is amazing! They have a game room, indoor and outdoor pool, pool table, hot tub, a restaurant inside the lodge to. Too many luxuries to list. And its not far from the lake. I love this place and the prices are great considering what you get for your money!! Couple summers ago i came and we stayed in one of their cabins which was awesome. This time I couldnt afford that so we reserved a room. I think its better than the cabins honestly because at the lodge having all of the wonderful things to do at your finger tips. And the gift shop is phenomenal.. I wish i could for a whole week. Maybe one day but i would recommend this place to anyone wanting to have a good time!!!!
Comfortable room, clean bathroom, and I liked the small kitchenette. I was able to adjust the temperature in my room. The balcony was really nice for relaxing. The staff was professional and friendly, and the restaurant servers were attentive and helpful. I stayed for a convention that used much of the space of the lodge. The windows and design of the lodge were beautiful, and the layout reallyshowcased the beautiful surrounding forest and lakes. I got take-out for breakfast both mornings and I was pleasantly surprised by the large portions. The food was delicious. My only complaint is that the lodge layout was a little bewildering and I found myself on the wrong floor a few times, and the ladder-like stairs between floors are not all in the same location. This may lend to the charm, but it took me some time to find my way around. If you plan on visiting, please note that the lodge itself is set back into the woods, so when you arrive at the main drive to the lodge, you will have to drive within the park for about 10 to 15 minutes. The roads within the park are well marked, and signs for the lodge will become more frequent the closer you get to the lodge itself. Overall, I look forward to another stay.
Was attacked by thousands of bugs. we could not even enter or exit the cabin. We called front desk for help and they switched us cabins but that one was even worse so we had to stay inside with the windows closed all night and ended up getting intoxicated by the chlorine in the hot tub because we could not open the windows. There were bugs all over the place and, in all the cracks, on the couch with us. I have bugs stuck in my hair and some were still alive. Front desk refused to help which is why I left my review. They told me I should expect bugs but no one else had this problem and we’re free to come and go as they please. The cabin right next-door to mine already had this problem because there were thousands of dead bugs everywhere and it was empty on a night where they were totally booked. Horrible customer service!! Do not stay here it is not worth $400 a night.
Outside looks nice and great but inside is very outdated felt like I just stepped back in the 70’s.. our room had a strong odor near the fridge I had to smell all night. The rooms are pretty small for getting the biggest one, and the staff outside at the pool were very rude during my interaction. However the pool was great, love that it wasn’t ice cold.
The grounds are very nice and plenty of things to do. Please be very careful about staying in the lodge! The rooms are very, very dated and need a good cleaning of cobwebs above the bunk beds, curtains and in the corners. Our reservations were made 6 months in advance. When arriving to our room the room had not been cleaned and the air conditioning was broken. After talking to the front desk a maintenance man arrived at 1:25 am. Was told they were having problems with this unit, it had stayed at 74 and would not lower. Front desk told us the air conditioning only works if your in the room! After about 30 minutes the maintenance man fixed the air. No one was available to clean our room and was not able to clean the bathtub. It was the most disgusting dirty, filthy and nauseated looking bathtub and we had cleaned a few spiders that were in it. We were promised that someone would clean our room by 9:00 am the next morning. Arriving back at 10:00 pm the room was NOT cleaned. Front desk sent people up to clean the room especially the bathtub and change pillows because blood was all over a pillow, the bathtub was forgotten again to clean it. We were told both nights that they did not have any other rooms so we could take a shower after two nights. We had a refrigerator but was not able to use due to the door on the freezer was missing and caused everything to freeze. We have stayed in hundreds of hotels and never had such a bad experience with the cleaning of a room or rudeness of the front desk.
My husband plays in a chess tournament here every fall. I tag along because it is a beautiful lodge with lots to do in area. There are hiking trails, camp fires, golf course, boating, gym, pool tables, ping pong, arcade, play ground for kids, basketball and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. I am never bored even though I spend most of the time alone. Lots of history in the area also. Recommend !!i spend most of the time there
Thoroughly DISAPOINTED. Your lodge is SEVERELY outdated! The diner was absolutely horrendous. It looks like the stuff hasnt been cleaned in 30 years. The food was terrible. This is not the fault of the staff (besides the 2nd person I spoke with since booking, every staff member was friendly and tried to be helpful) they are the only thing keeping you guys open. You made the front of the lodge look beautiful but the inside is creepy and old in everyway. It even smells old. Please consider a major overhaul - when you charge people $330 a night they should see some kind of value. $330 is the price for a 5-star hotel stay and youre at a 1-2 star at best. Very sad time was wasted on this anniversary trip. There was no pleasure in the much needed get-a-way at all and no good memories were made. If you look at all of my reviews youll see that I dont give 1 stars often. This was hard for me.
We had several reasons as to why our visit was a poor one: cleanliness of the rooms, rude front desk, poor communication from the staff, etc. Our initial review was one star. However, after reaching out to Matt, he was set on making things right. He expressed his sincere apology and further ‘handled’ the issues of his staff and cleanliness of his lodge. We were able to settle things rightly and, therefore, wanted to be sure to leave a review expressing my gratitude toward his commitment to make things right.
My fiancé and I stayed at Salt Fork State Lodge for my fiancé’s 30th birthday. We really loved it there. The rooms were very clean, the workers are all very friendly and knowledgeable with the lodge, and the great bonus is the lounge and game room. Even being an adult you feel like a kid. There’s endless things to do there. The only things we wish we could’ve changed was when we showered the water was either very cold or very hot. The tub fills up with water quickly as if the drain is possibly clogged. The last thing is it would be better if they had a little more lighting with a better walkway to the bonfire pits. It’s very dark over there with a steep hill. Otherwise it would’ve been perfect!Room: 314
I have stayed here many many times either at the Lodge, Cabins and even camped in the campground. I even keep my boat docked here every year. They keep this place very clean and well maintained. The staff are awesome! They will go out of their way to make your stay the best as it can be. The restaurant has great food and they have a beautiful bar to enjoy a nice drink afterwards. If you havent been here I highly recommend it!
Honestly i wasnt really to impressed with the rooms. Bathroom was really small the shower was super hard to turn on. The room was really small too. But it didnt stop me from having a good time with my friend and sister. we got lost a lot haha. The resteraunt is amazing great pizzas! I would denifenly recommend this place having chips candys popcorn etc in a separate area instead of the gift shop.
Wonderful lodge on the most beautiful lake in Ohio. We had an excellent stay and enjoyed the lake, the pool, and the great food and hospitality. Staff work very hard to make your stay enjoyable. I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a nice getaway.
While the rooms are dated, they were comfortable and nostalgic. Each room at the lodge has a patio or balcony so you can take in the nature around you.The double queen included a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, iron, and hairdryer making for an easy stay. The beds each came with 3 pillows a nice touch that any weary traveler can appreciate. As long as you remember this is a place designed to connect with nature you accept the little things that nature sneaks in now and again. The lodge itself offered plenty to do if you don’t feel like spending the day in the amazing state park it is in the heart of. Making rainy days for us nature lovers a breeze to get through.*****Covid-19 precautions are being taken here and they are up front about that when checking in. Just another bonus from this great Lodge.
Beautiful lodge that has held up wonderfully all these years. Location is peaceful yet has many things to do. The employees obviously take a lot of pride in making your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The restaurant food was very impressive - though I would also recommend bringing food since the nearest store is several miles away. Our family had a great time and will absolutely visit again. We live in a flat area of Ohio so this felt like we were much further from home than we were. Salt Fork truly is one of Ohio’s gems.
This trip to Salt Fork was amazing. The lodge was beautiful, clean and had so many activities to do. We loved the common areas, the beauty of the architecture, the pool and hot tub, fun of the arcade, sledding hill and winter hike, the rooms were clean and spacious and food was amazing. The reason I am giving a 4/5 because the staff was not kind at all. They seemed under staffed as their moods seemed as if we were an inconvenience to be there. We didnt feel welcomed and felt like they were being bothered by anything we had questions about or needed. Saturday night we were told our pizza would be done in 15 minutes and it took over an hour to get it. There was one lady working the lounge (bar area) and she was sprinting back and forth between the lounge and restaurant to get people food. It took forever to even get a drink or ask for a fork. Again, we felt like we were a nuisance. Front desk also seemed very annoyed that we were there. We do plan to go back because we loved the lodge and all there was to do. Hoping the staff gets some help and a smile.
We made a quick weekend trip and stayed in a cabin. The views of the lake were incredible. The cabin was clean and comfy. The restaurant at the Lodge had good food, reasonable prices, and the staff was very friendly. We always enjoy walking around the lodge a bit, the building is truly amazing. Thank you Salt Fork staff for another great weekend!
The area is beautiful and the rooms are clean and well kept. The outer decks looked pretty rough, but they may not have started getting ready for summer yet. Just looks like it needs some fresh paint and cleaning up. The staff was very friendly. This was my third visit and I’ll be back. Great for a getaway for a few days!!
Very peaceful and relaxing and back in and close by the lake , I may edit this again but the reason for not 5 stars was its pricy but I also understand running a business and am slow at being negative about a place on a review unless I feel that someone is truly being dishonest, I will edit this again once you respond
An outdoor explorers wonderland! The park is huge, so youll definitely need a map, but the trails are beautiful, and the history of the entire place is fascinating! Chief engineer Matt was the most friendly and helpful, and the housekeeping and reastaurant staff were top of the line! Our room was very clean, and the view was phenomenal! Will definitely be staying again!
The state park is huge and visually appealing. The lodge is pretty big too. Indoor & outdoor pools, game room, plenty to do. Lodge rooms are nice, but showing some rough edges from age. Dining room is just ok. Service is ragged and the food was hit and miss. Signs everywhere in the lodge say masks are mandatory, but half the visitors dont bother and no one is enforcing it. All the more reason to enjoy the outdoors.
The accommodations were more or less what we expected, family friendly, pretty well kept, even if not cutting edge. While not recently remodeled it is a very nice lodge. What really puts this rating up to where it is, however, is the staff. Restaurant staff were very good and Jenny at the front desk went way above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated when there was a minor problem for which the lodge was not responsible. She didn’t have to try, but try she did and it helped really make our experience great. Way to go Salt Fork staff!
We had a wonderful one night getaway. The lodge was great as we spent time in the nice indoor pool and hiked around the grounds. We booked the one night package which included a nice breakfast for 2 at the in house restaurant. Wed love to return during the summer to spend time on the water with our kayaks.
We have gone to salt fork lodge for years, for our anniversary. A few changes due to Covid but, nothing that made it any less enjoyable. The Timber staff was great, everyone friendly and accommodating. Free dessert in honor of our 40th. Other than the weather which is out of their control it was great.Look forward to going back next year.
We were here for a family reunion and none of the family that stayed here WOULD EVER COME BACK AGAIN! I would have given only one star, however as I stated there were a few good highlights of our stay. The absolute worst experience I have ever had. I would be more apt to understand the mishap had I booked the room online, however I booked the reservation over the phone directly with a lodge employee. Before hanging up, I specifically asked the person on the phone if there would be a sofa bed in the room and she said yes there would be. We get there, check -in, go to the room and it was not what I was told by the lodges employee when I spoke to her on the phone while booking the room. After moving to a room with 2 queen beds and being disappointed about the whole situation, we finally get into our room, throw our luggage in quickly because we are meeting the family in the lounge for happy happy hour (Cheryl who worked the bar was excellent). On my way to the bar I decided to stop by the front desk for one last plea to get the proper room since it was not my mistake and I was pretty much told by, Susan, the manager at the front desk, we are over booked and so we have to inconvenience you. I felt as though she didnt care one bit!We planned on dinner for the group dinner at 730. We get seated, order wine from a local winery (the wine was spoiled tasted like vinegar), we ordered a different kind and it seemed to be ok, we then we order our meals, they come out pretty quick, however the mashed potatoes were instant and were not mixed properly they had lumps of instant powder throughout. We get our bills and see that the waitress charged us for the spoiled wine and had no intentions of removing it from the bill, we asked to see the manager, explained to her the situation and she did take it off of the bill, it is not as though we didnt drink we ordered a bunch of bottles of wine for the table, we head out to my uncles room to sit and catch up with everyone. Finally we get back into our room to relax and shower when we noticed that the shower had not been cleaned and was filthy. I go to the front desk and explain to I think Nikki, or maybe Aleshia (I spoke to both ) she looked to see if there was some place else she could move us, she was unsuccessful. Although Nikki was very nice she never asked if we would like housekeeping to come to the room at the very moment and clean the room. She only asked if we minded staying where we were and move in the morning. We went downstairs to the front desk in the morning and asked if we could get the shower cleaned wile we waited to move rooms, they said they would send someone right up, 2 hours later no one came up and we wanted to shower we had been traveling the day before. Susan was back for the and didnt address us. Aleshia called Matt, he came and was a pleasant as could be and tried everything he could to give us the room that we originally ordered, however he could only give it to us for one night and then we would have to move to yet another room at this point we just wanted to take showers and grab some food (breakfast was good). At breakfast we decided that this place just wasnt worth the aggravation of having to move from room to room and went online and got a room at the Hampton Inn miles away for the next 2 nights of our stay. We would have left all together but they wanted to charge us for the room if we left so we spent the night and left in the morning. Since they were unable to accommodate on the final night Matt did agree to reimburse us for our lasts night stay!I cannot express enough how helpful Matt, Nikki, and Aleshia were and yet at the same time how much Susan wouldnt help. Generally you lead by example and your staff is only is as good as the management, but thank goodness they did not follow in her footsteps. Its a shame because the location is beautiful and we would have loved to have made this our yearly family vacation spot and add more family from the in-laws side.
Dirty facility - unmopped floors in common/pool areas, cobwebs on all the chandeliers, windows look like theyve never been cleaned. Food in restaurant pretty terrible - stale bread for kids sandwiches, dry salmon, etc. Beautiful lodge and could be fantastic but management/cleanliness an issue for us. Beds were comfortable and views are nice. Front desk staff pretty darn unfriendly.
I normally don’t write reviews, but I received an email asking for one, so here it is.We stayed 2 nights in a hillside pet friendly cabin. It was not clean by any means. Our dog found empty NyQuil pill packs, a used earplug, and plenty of crumbs under the beds. I would bet the rooms were cleaner after she found everything there was to find. The floors were dirty and I don’t think they were swept very well, if at all, before we arrived. There was plenty of dust everywhere. There was one roll of tp for a family of 4 for 2 nights. All the lamps worked, but the decorative bases were all broken. We’ve tent camped before, and if I had known what we were getting for our money, I probably would have opted for a tent, to be honest. We definitely debated even staying for the second night, but ended up staying since we were exhausted after our day on the lake. The first morning of our stay I went to make coffee, and the coffee pot had been put away with the last person’s grounds still in it. Based on the mold growth, I could not bring myself to clean it up and use it, so I called the front desk and asked for a new one. They delivered it, but it was over an hour wait. The kitchen is fairly stocked with what you would need for a stay, but after the coffee pot I was afraid to even look inside the microwave let alone use anything. The silver lining for the entire trip was the lake. We spent a full day on the pontoon we rented from the marina, and if I could give that 5 stars I would. The boat was in great shape, and cleaner than our cabin, the lake was beautiful, and the staff was friendly. There are courtesy docks near the cabins and near the beach area, which made it easy to stop for bathroom breaks. In all, I was disappointed. This was our first trip to Salt Fork, and I had previously read great reviews. It seemed like the perfect way to have a socially distanced time away. Instead I spent 2 nights being fairly grossed out by our accommodations and feeling like it definitely was not worth the trip.
Came for a very quick get away. As usual my stay was great! Just wanted to come here and comment on one of the staff. Julie who works in the gift shop is amazing! She is so nice and went above and beyond to help my friend and I. She’s great and I really appreciated her!Thank you for another great stay, and I will probably be back in the next few months :)
We decided to get away the week of July 4, made last minute reservations for a night. While we were there we decided to stay a second night. Rooms overall are decent. A little dated but clean. I’m not there to hang out in the room anyway. Staff is fantastic! Everyone is pleasant and helpful. Special shout out to Carie at the pool! All of the pool staff was pleasant. We appreciate the safety measures put in place. Not convenient but it’s the times. Made us feel safe. We have been back twice since the initial visit, each time two nights. Always treated very well.
We did a stay and play weekend. 2 nights all you can golf, and free breakfast. Didnt really know what to expect going in but it exceeded our expectations. Rooms were very nice. Comfy beds. A lot of room. Very nice pool. Dinner and drinks at the bar were great every night. (A little pricey) the golf course is insanely hard. Many dog legs. A challenging round for sure. I highly recommend this place and we will be back!
Our second stay here, the visits were about a year apart, but our stay was exceptional both times. The facility is currently undergoing some renovations but that didnt have any impact on our stay. The room was nice, the staff excellent, and the food at the diner was very good. We werent looking for Bigfoot, but we also werent looking, however the deer coming up to our balcony for apples and strawberries is always a treat! We will be back again, no question.
Had a great time. Took the kids on a pontoon for the entire day and it was absolutely wonderful. The food was fantastic! My wife kinda likes pizza but loves the lodge pizza. We had it 3 times and my wife and kids just raved about it. Room was clean and the pool was wonderful. Looking forward to our next trip.
Stayed there for the weekend. Beautiful place but our cabin smells cleaning chemicals. seems like they just sprayed all over the place to make it look like they cleaned well. We arrived late so I was expecting I can lay down as soon as we get there but upon stripping the blankets saw lots of hair and dirt all over the sheets so I waited for another 15minutes for new bedding sets and I have to change it by myself since they have this covid policy thingy. Microwave still has ketchups. Susan at the front desk was not a big help when I am asking about the property before booking she’s kinda rude. My friends are asking about the place but I am not sure if I will recommend it with the experience we had.
The lodge was decent, clean. Wed never been there before so we werent sure what to expect. Dinner menu and wine list were limited, maybe covid related. Our breakfast omelets were wonderful! The rooms need to be updated. We hiked two trails and they were well marked. The pool looked pristine, but we didnt swim. Next time Id consider a cabin or cottage to get away from the outdoor lighting that is all around the lodge. Very relaxing overnighter.
This was one of the most relaxing weekends Ive had in a long time. My daughter and I took my 3 grandkids and spent 4days in one of the clean, spacious, and well equiped cabin. The food and service at the restaurant was amazing and the new bartender in the lounge named Gavin went above and beyond to ensure we were well served. Cant wait to go back for a girls weekend.
All areas were very cold, they need to find some way to get sitting areas, elevators, etc. warmer. Our phone did not work, told the front desk on Friday and by Sunday no one came to investigate. Because they were testing the fire alarm, ALL guests were awaken this am at 7:45 am!! Why couldnt they test it later in day when there are fewer guests trying to sleep.Restaurant food was good.
Although I was just visiting I had the opportunity to interact with the staff. They were very friendly and provided my with the information about the facility. They all wore masks and had hand sanitizers available. The guests arriving to check in were able to maintain a comfortable 6 ft of social distancing.
Overall we had a good time, BUT, the place is under construction for some sorely needed repairs. When it rained the amount of water leaking in the roof caused them to close the Wild Life Lounge! It was raining inside! All the hallways had lots of buckets to catch the water, the amount of water inside the building was incredible, which leads to the mold smell in the rooms! The staff were not rude, but I would say they need some training in customer service and hospitality, they werent friendly, but again they were not rude. The food was a little expensive for what you got. The quality of the food was ok and the service was average, we searched and went to dinner outside the park 2 of the 4 nights. Breakfast was the best of the meals, but there were several items on the menu that they were out of waiting on the truck, dont ask for strawberry jelly! The free boat slips was really nice and they were in decent condition but are going to need to work soon. The grounds were nice but in some need of maintenance, loose blocks on the steps. The grounds were clean and looked nice. The room was very standard and in need of updates, for the price it was not a good value. The mattress and pillows were comfortable and the AC kept the room cool, but was a little loud. The pool was nice, clean and the covid restrictions were handled well, closed every 2 hours for cleaning (15 min.) The gift shop workers were very nice and they had some interesting souveniers. The lake was easy to access and well marked. We were there during the week and it felt like a private lake. We had lots of fun tubing with the kids. The boat ramps were in good condition and there are two marinas on the lake with limited amenities. Overall the Park is a great resource for Ohio residences and I hope our tax dollars are used wisely to get this place back up to par with the other state parks because it has huge potential but currently missing the mark.
I understand the lodge is old, but the condition of it was very disappointing. We stayed on the first level and our room had a horrible, musty smell and was VERY dirty. In fact, the entire facility was dirty, inside and out. Our room patio was covered in bird poop, and had a bird and active wasp nest. There was construction taking place on the roof with equipment and mess surrounding the perimeter of the lodge. The indoor pool was closed as well. The on-site restaurant food and service was good and the outdoor pool is clean and clear. This lodge is located in a very scenic area and has lots of potential, but will need a serious overhaul before we will consider ever going back again.
We have been a life long guests of Saltfork!!! The management team is amazing and a special shout-out to JENNY!!! She really made my daughters birthday something special❤️ The management team goes above and beyond and everything is always so clean!!! See you next year!!!!
Lakeside cabin was great! A few hangups with the bed sheets not being clean when we arrived and the kitchen sink leaking, but we called maintenance and they came and took care of it.Rented a pontoon boat as well. They are new and very powerful. The lodge is older and the amenities like the indoor pool is a little dated, but it has aged well.Lots to do, looking forward to coming back in the future.
I had my granddaughters 14th birthday at Salt Fork… The girls had a great time.! They spent time in the indoor pool during the rain, then off to the game room and then spent the rest of the day in their beautiful outdoor pool..! We spent the night in one of the cabins where we sat around our campfire roasting marshmallows for s’mores… Salt Fork is one of our closest destinations for fun.!
My husband and I stayed at Salt Fork Lodge and Conference Center for our honeymoon on July 30th to August 4th, 2020. I had done a lot of research prior to making our reservations. I knew there was going to be construction going on prior to booking from reading reviews. The construction did not bother us as our room was on the second floor. The only downside was the indoor pool and hot tub were closed. When we arrived on Thursday we went to the front desk to check in and was surprised at how unenthusiastic the staff members were to greet us. They gave us our general check-in information but nothing more. (For example, when checking out we saw hiking maps that would have been useful beforehand). They did not give any recommendations or information about the lodge itself or surrounding activities. When booking we decided to do the breakfast package and thought it was a good idea. We are still unsure if it would have been cheaper to just buy the breakfast at the Lodge the day of. The vouchers do not specify what is included. It seemed to cover a meal and drink for each of us. One morning we were able to add a side of bacon and the other morning the waitress said it was not included. Unfortunately, we didnt have great experiences at Timbers restaurant. The servers always seemed so busy, there was rarely a hostess or someone to greet you as you entered. Usually you waited until someone finally came over to seat you even after multiple people have noticed you. Upon being seated, the servers took some time to get to your table (15 minutes on one occasion just to figure out who our server even was!). Most of the food was okay and reasonably priced, nothing fancy or spectacular. There is a dessert menu, we figured this out from overseeing another customer looking at one, they dont offer it unless you ask. The customer service of many of the staff members were not great, at all. Almost everyone seemed too busy that they didnt have time to give you, even when the restaurant was not busy. Very forgetful and unapologetic staff members. We also decided to book an all day kayak rental at Sugartree Marina at the time of booking our reservation. It appeared to only be $30 for an all day rental for two kayaks. I wasnt sure about the accuracy of this booking. We decided to change our reservation for the kayaks to another day due to bad weather predictions. I asked the staff member if we had two kayaks reserved and she said yes. They changed our reservations to another day, with no issues. Upon arrival at the Marina, Paul greeted us and got us set up with our reservation. He told us that it was going to be an additional $30 for a second kayak and that only one can be booked when making reservations on the website. He said this was a common issue and decided not to charge us for the second kayak after I told him they confirmed over the phone that we had two kayaks booked. He was the most informative and friendly staff member we encountered during our stay.Despite the unwelcoming staff and mediocre service, my husband and I made the most of the stay and really enjoyed ourselves. We did enjoy the adult swim time at the end of each night and had a great encounter with one of the friendly lifeguards. This place has a lot of potential but is limited by their customer service. If you dont mind researching and exploring on your own then this would be a good option for you.
The lake is amazing! The lodge is disgusting! The carpet was dirty and hadn’t even been swept, our toliet broke, our air conditioning broke, and the room smelled like dirty feet. A rotting peach and leaking water was in the ice room for all three days of our stay which shows you the level of cleaning. The workers at the front desk where rude and nobody had any clue about what was going on. The ponds that used to be at the entrance and by the pool are both overgrown and filled with trash. It breaks my heart that the State of Ohio has not maintained the lodge. While mai
Our room was $286 after tax. For that price I really thought this place was going to be something special. It is not. It does have a nice pool area but it was very run down and dated. We had a lake view room and the brush was so high you couldn’t even see it. So disappointing. Never again. You would be better off going down the road to a Microtel.
This place is a great, very cozy lodge, full of many lounges, fires and views to relax. It is a great place to host your family reunion, but know it is a very large, hotel-sized building even though it is styled like a lodge. It is a great, cozy place to come during the winter and enjoy the snow from your warm hotel room view.
Prosbeautiful locationlodge staff and restaurant staff were very nicebeds very comfortablehuge portions for appetizersconsrooms dated and very dirty, peeling paint, behind bed just nasty, the door to patio was filthy like it had not been wiped since it was put in, very hard to keep room warm, once heat kicked off it became very chilly till heat kicked back on, bathroom floor was so cold it was like standing in the snow barefoot. For the price we expected a bit more.
I would have left 5 stars, however, this morning we decided to have breakfast at the restaurant before we checked out. We were seated very quickly, but after that no one acknowledged us for over 30 minutes. I had to go find someone to wait on us. And then when the finally did wait on us, the excuse was “sorry, no one wrote down your table.” We were a little confused as to how no one noticed us sitting there waiting. We both work in customer service so we definitely understand that mistakes happen, but we just thought it could have been handled better than just passing the blame off on somebody else. Besides breakfast, our stay was wonderful and we had a great time.
Great place! Very nIce room with great view.. Lots of amenities. My only complaint - lack of signage to direct you to guest rooms, dining room, bridge to parking etc. It was hard to find our way from one part of the lodge to another. On several occasions, we asked staff members how do we from here to (there) and they didnt know.
Had to get a last minute room for a good friends funeral. Not somewhere wed usually travel to, but we liked it enough that we may go back with our kids once theyre vaccinated and covid safe (masks were not enforced ANYWHERE in the facility, fortunately my husband and I are fully vaxxed).
The bathroom was very dirty. Toilet and shower had hair and mold. Fridge smelled like broccoli. Coffee was the worst Ive ever had. Beds are comfy. Needs severly updated. Breakfast was great at the timberwolf . Dinner was expensive and threw most of it in the trash. Wont be spending that kind of money for that kind of experience ever again. Highly disappointing.
Absolutely wonderful family fun vacation! We had a blast!! The staff was fantastic, especially the foreign exchange students, they were so great with our children!! I loved all the activities that had for our kids to do pool side! The Lodge was amazing!! We will definitely be returning!!!
Our stay was absolutely amazing!! We relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. They have everything you would need to, restaurants, games, pool, gift shop. You dont have to leave once you get there! The staff is the friendliest staff Ive ever had. We will definitely be coming back here when its time to rejuvenate again!

2022-01-03This lodge was a great get away.I gave it a 4 star due to the staffs lack of provision of regular supplies. The room was great. It sleeps 4 to 6 comfortably but, we only had one roll of toilet paper for 5 people. The pool area was nice but, nobody kept up with the towels. The restaurant was decent but over priced.Salt fork lodge Is far from town so, I definitely recommend picking up snacks.I did love the multiple variety of activities to help me interact with my grands.Overall great value but, the staff needs to be able to more customers service driven

2022-01-17We had a really great time at the Lodge! The staff was so kind the entire weekend, recommended us different trails and how to get there and we had such a cozy stay. The views out of the rooms in the morning are gorgeous. The only thing I would say is the blankets were a little thin, we just asked the front desk for an extra (but we also went in January).

2022-04-04I cannot say enough good things about Salt fork state park and lodge. I have visited the lake since I was. Kid. But never had stepped foot in the lodge. Let me tell you the lodge takes you back. It’s rustic reminds me of a hunting or ski lodge which I absolutely adore. The food in the lounge was amazing but not bad priced for a resort lounge. The cabins were amazing they are being updated on a yearly basis so that is encouraging. we had a waterfront cabin with a Jacuzzi amazing clean. Although the weather was rainy our trip was fantastic I find my set day dreaming about going back while I’m at work.I accidentally left my make up case there when we left and filling out a survey they found this out and contacted my husband and offered to return it to us for FREE!!! Now I know postage is not cheap and state parks do not have any budget so this was amazing for me I would’ve been more than willing to drive down to get it.All I can say is this was an amazing trip and we had an amazing experience with all the staff. Superb and stellar and I’ve been to five star resorts that didn’t have the hospitality this place has. A-1 classy! There will be another stay we are bringing friends this time and our boat to enjoy the lake as well

2022-01-03We stayed at Salt Fork Lodge over the New Years holiday. They had a full itinerary of both family friendly and adult oriented events to celebrate. From scavenger hunts, game options and ice cream bar, to special dining, live music, movies and bloody Mary bar. You name it, they had it all! The rooms and facility were clean. The staff was phenomenal, extremely friendly and accommodating. I cant say enough! I believe we may have found a New Years Eve tradition! We will definitely be back.

2021-12-17We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The staff was nice, and the fireplaces throughout the lodge were fantastic! Loved the Christmas decorations and everything about our stay was perfect and exactly what we were hoping for. Cant wait to come back!

2022-04-04I normally love this place but it seems that the housekeeping has gone downhill. We had to clean our cabin for the first 30 minutes of our stay. Wiping of all surfaces and the kitchen appliances because of dust and dried food. The floor was completely unswept and dirty but there was no vacuum and we didnt pack ours. Im not sure that we will be staying again after this experience.

2022-04-30For starters are room was not clean. My mother wasnt feeling well at dinner and began back to our room when our name was called because we were put in the wrong room. We were told to go back to our room to collect our things and the key card was already reassigned so we were locked out. My senior mother had to sit on the floor while the Manager went and got her lunch. Upon me getting to the front desk the entire staff was either rude or clueless to what the situation was and even tried to blame us. Our second room was also not clean. When we showed concern about our stuff being stolen by the people who entered our room she told us we shouldve checked and theres nothing she can do. If I could do 0 stars I would. I honestly wouldnt recommend this as a place to stay to anyone. Total lack of respect from everyone especially the Manager and could not take blame for her mistakes.

2022-05-22Was pleasantly surprised at how nice the lodge and entire property was. Their restaurant served one of the best blackened chicken fettuccine Ive ever had. Plus, it was very busy and the food came out fast and very hot

2022-04-01Friendly staff. Ask to see Winnie at the front desk (she is their pet hedgehog). Find the life size Bigfoot which is a fun picture opportunity (hint: on the same level as the restaurant) Pool, game room, restaurant and gift shop also available. Rustic atmosphere.
