Was invited here and must say it was a treat!! Waitstaff was very friendly, Kanna was prompt and went above and beyond to make o.r stay the best!! Food was awesome! Sux the price of inflation but definitely worth the price which was still really reasonable!! Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back🙌
Clean, well lit, staff were ok. WAY WAY overpriced. $5.99 for a bowl of oatmeal? $9.10 for oatmeal and coffee? LMAO. I can get a bowl of oatmeal, order of toast, and orange juice for $4.50 at Uncle Johns. Oatmeal was mushy. No breakfast specials. Coffee was good with huge cups. IMHO, there are better diners in Toledo. Will not be going back.
The restaurant is nice and clean. Overall the food leaves more to be desired. The prices are absolutely insane! $13.99 for a chicken salad sandwich with fries. The chicken salad had zero flavor. We received no refills on water. I also dont like that pretty much everything is Ala carte. You want waffles, ok, pay 10 bucks but the meat is $4.99 on its own. A bowl of oatmeal even is overpriced. No thanks.
I would love to review their food but unfortunately we had to leave after waiting 40 minutes for our order. I was really excited to eat there too. The menu was awesome, but after this experience, and the manager not seeming to care that we were walking out 100% unsatisfied it’s more than likely we will not be back. Apparently they are so successful they can let business walk out the door.
Great environment. Incredibly kind people and wait staff. Brittney was excellent.I got the creamy scrambled eggs with redskin potatoes. The creamy scrambled eggs were incredible. I wish I was hungrier so I could finish them. Im definitely going to try making eggs with cream cheese at home in the near future. It was weird having to ask for butter with my toast though. They had freshly ground Kona coffee, which was exciting. My wife got French Toast. Which she wasnt thrilled with. The bread was incredibly thick and clearly hadnt absorbed the egg that you grill it with. It was nice though that it came with cream. They use paper straws, which I dont love. I just cant stand the mouth feel of paper straws, and the integrity of the straws breaks down over time. All in all, nice local eatery with kind and helpful people.
First time there. Place is nice and clean, people care friendly. Cant say I was overly impressed with the food. I had a sausage omelet, ordered it with American cheese, it came with Swiss and cheddar. Couldnt taste the sausage over all the cheese. Red skin potatoes were good. Service was friendly but kinda slow. I thought prices were a little high. Two omelets with potatoes and 2 coffees $ 32.41.
We showed up at 10am on a Saturday. There were 8 of us and the hostess was very accommodating with getting us a table for our size party. Our server was fabulous!! Very kind, detail oriented, and wonderful with handling our specific orders. The food came out quick and tasty! Pancakes were the size of the entire dinner plate! Yum!! It was a great experience all around! Only downfall was that the prices on the menu dont match what is posted online so we paid more than what we originally thought.
Clean, the smells of real food, warm inviting staff!!!! Deanna our server was knowledgeable and accommodating her suggestions show she knows her menu, and never once said well everyone else gets.....!!!!! This is a huge wow factor to me. Had the Irsish bennies and it was out standing a perfect egg with unbroken hollandaise!!!! The coffee was velvety the home fires so perfect in texture dare to say al dente. The spicy blt was superb with homemade slaw! The in house bloody mary is a must get it spicy!!!!
We went yesterday for lunch. Overall the food is quality. A bit pricey but you get plenty.I had the chicken McKenzie melt.was very good...but Im not a fan of the grapes in chicken salad. Maybe its a sophistication healthy idea..but the taste does not bode well to at least my palate. The tomato soup with basil was delicious and the french fries were really tasty and kept crispy.love how they do that coating on the french fries! The service was very good. The smiling faces and the polite checking up were pleasant. The garden salad was fresh. Love the mannequins and stuffed figures at some tables...brings a smile to your face. I Will update as I return to Ricks to try other menu items.
From out of town, came in for breakfast. Staff was very friendly, and food was delicious. We appreciate the real butter…. Unlike another diner we tried in the area that serves disgusting oil based margarine. The Irish Benedict was amazing and the English muffins were fluffy and tasted homemade. The combo plate’s eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage was not dry at all. Would come again!!
Kinda busy, but the hostess was not a person who has a clue how the job is done, not friendly at all, more than a couple of minutes never said a word. If she doesnt have a clue, Im not spending money to find out how bad the rest of the staff is. Point being customer service starts at the door and greeting.
I travel around Toledo sampling breakfasts at all of the local Diners, and today has so far been one of my favorites.Pretty straight forward brekky here. Just the basics executed fantastically. Not to mention my awesome server Amy.Ricks City Diner has scored rather high on my list thus far.
This was our first visit to Rick’s since pre-covid days; something we had been anticipating for months. And it was well worth it.The food was as good as we remembered - my BLT was loaded with bacon and the fixings and the fries were crispy and delicious. My wife had an omelet and roasted potatoes that was not only scrumptious but way too much food. The restaurant was clean and we felt perfectly safe from covid.Staff were friendly and efficient, even though we could see the stress from a shortage of help, but a little patience goes a long way; heck we were just happy to be back. All in all a great experience and we will certainly be back.
On November 7 went by Diner twice and people were waiting outside. Went back around 1:30 and went inside. Lady finally came to door and said they were closedI said sign on door said 2pm. Told her we had been back three times and no one waiting this time and we were from out of town and when we get to Toledo we eat at Ricks. Did not matter to her. Too bad you have so many customers you chase them away. You have lost a customer.
This was my first experience at this place and i can say that i wasnt particularly blown away. The waitress did sit us right away and got our drinks as well, however i was not very happy with it being i was brought out a 20oz coke and a glass with ice to pour myself with no refills or offers on top of that it was $2.99. Not really good for customers to be paying for just one drink they have to pour themselves, the food was ok not terrible but not really all that great, $4.00 for a side of bacon with only 3 strips. Overall the place is overpriced for the quality it offers. $37 for 2 plates of breakfast. It wasnt terrible but probably not coming back
Food was good and despite the lack of staffing, service was as well. My only disappointment was the price. $11.00 +tip, for 1 piece of toast, 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, coffee and potatoes. Lots of food but I can get the same breakfast at a number of diners for less than $8.
We ate lunch and had a good meal with good sized portions. My wife said that the chili was the best shes ever had. Even better than what she makes. I had a burger it was good and also a very generous size. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. The only minor complaint I had was that a burger that big needs more than one slice of cheese. This is a good place for lunch. I would recommend it to anyone. Next time Ill have to try breakfast.
Rick’s is a FANTASTIC locally owned breakfast spot. Owner Rick Salem serves big portions and his food is always fresh. You can come to expect excellent food, with a family friendly wait staff and a spotless environment. In today’s world of COVID, you can feel safe here while supporting a terrific local establishment!!
Normally a 5 star from me. This time the food was cold, egg shells in the eggs, and a hair in the eggs as well. Informed the waitress and she had the meal removed from the bill. They were very pleasant and apologetic. This one experience will not keep me from dining here again.
Food was edible and thats about it. I didnt complain, but the lady next to me did. My server was fantastic though, she gets 5 stars, but the cooks get a 1 because I was able to eat a bit of what I ordered. Averaged out to a 3. Ill give it another shot someday soon, everyone has a rough day. A second chance is coming.
Pricey, but the service was great, the food was delicious and as busy as they looked we were seated immediately and had our food not long after we ordered it. Great place for a couple or for a whole family. Boston breakfast is what I recommend, cant wait to try their different versions of eggs Benedict!
I only ever eat breakfast at Ricks and its good altho a little pricey. They have things like avocado toast with egg salad and eggs Benedict made with pork loin instead of ham, so pretty different from other places like American Table. They have lots of the usual choices, too, and a kids menu. The owner is always there and is a friendly, cool, guy. Its a very nice place with lots of stuff on the walls, like pics of the owner with celebs, and plants and stuff. Its in an old big box record store but doesnt feel all glassy and fluorescent. Its good!
Usually good food, however it can sometimes be a miss. The wait staff is always very kind and helpful. On the weekends between 8am and 10am it is usually pretty busy, however the staff works as quickly as they can so your wait probably wont be too long. Overall worth coming here for good breakfast food.
Food was great, hostess not so much. she sat my wife and I at a very small table near the kitchen bar area. When I asked to be seated somewhere else like a booth she said there are others waiting to be seated. Problem was that we were the only ones being seated at that moment. No line and no people. So I asked our waitress to seat us at that booth and she sat us there with no problem. After we sat down the hostess gave the waitress a vey dirty look. I dont know weather race had played a role in this or she was having a bad day but I and my wife were not having it. Manager took care of the situation. Our waitress, however, was amazing.
Rick’s has been recommended to me many times and the menu looks awesome. Upon being seated I noticed a server with her mask under her nose and that the kitchen staff didn’t wear any masks; server and kitchen staff member were talking over the plated food station. Said server came over to wait on me and kept touching her mask. Being higher vulnerability for covid due to pregnancy I told her I wasn’t comfortable with those two issues, and was just going to go home. She just kind of shrugged and that was that. She said the kitchen was exempt from masks - whether or not that’s true, I don’t know, but it worried me.I was looking forward to finally dining here but now don’t know if I’ll be back 😫😕
This diner has long been one of my favorite restaurants for breakfast and lunch...however, today I ordered a spinach/cheese omelet and was charged extra, ---- more than it would have cost if I had just ordered a spinach omelet, which would have included cheese and tomatoes. (I did not want the tomatoes.) Most of the breakfast meals on the menu offered the option of fruit in place of potatoes, but I was charged extra...and another extra charge for one English muffin in place of toast. Needless to say, I was disappointed in this visit. As for food and service, they are usually excellent.
I wasnt impressed yes they have a large quantity of food on the plate but i prefer quality. I had the Boston open faced omelet and it looked like a plate of slop and it wasnt very tasty. The waitress was friendly but the host was not i dont even think she spoke to me or my husband she just grabbed menus and seatted us. I probably will not return.
My grandmother said that everyone loves this place and it has wonderful eggs. Her basted egg looked good. But our poached eggs were runny and undercooked. We had the avocado toast with smoked salmon and both of us agreed it was tasteless. On top of that the waitresses have long hair worn down and it gets in everything. I watched a girl wipe up the table next to us and her hair practically mopped the table. Its unsanitary and not worth the hype at all. The bathrooms were also small and cramped with a broken door.
This is a very hit or miss place. Its very $$$ for a diner, coffee is two and change. The first time we went the server and the food was great! Then next time a different server seem like she didnt have time to waste on us. This last time will be the last time we go. The server was in her own world. I ordered coffee and got water. Then she forgot part of my breakfast. When my husband asked for more coffee it took her 10mins and then she only filled it half way.
First time here, and it was disappointing. The menu said fresh bread, roasted meats inhouse. My husband ordered egg salad sandwich that was very dry, I ordered Turkey sandwich that tasted and looked like ham? The chips with my meal was a bag of Ruffles. My sandwich and chips were $9.99.
Theres nothing wrong with Ricks Diner except its not one of my favorite places to eat. Its clean, the food is good and the staff is professional. I just feel the food is way overpriced. If someone in our group wants to go there Ill usually go but I myself would never pick Ricks Diner. This is just my personal feelings.
Just awful, management act like they don’t need customers! How can you treat people with so much disrespect! Lucky I’m nice that’s all I got to say! Seemed like the lady who said she was the manager was on a meth bender! Here’s some advice go to rehab then you may treat people how you would want to be treated! Don’t EAT Here
I have been wanting to come here for sometime and that I have made Im glad I did the Service was great Sam and Carrie I would rate a 10 as far as service goes they both goes the extra step for there customers been a few time and the food has always been awesome the Advocato toast was the best ever had Everything I have eaten there so far has been excellent
Normally we are a big fan but after sitting there for 10-15 minutes for the waitress to come take our order, because they also had her working their party room, we got fed up and decided to leave. Only to be asked if we wanted to place an order to go? What a disappointment.
Paid $33.00 for 1 BLT and chicken salad sandwich and one pancake. They charged us $4.85 per bottle of pop. With no refills. The chicken tasted dri like gordon food service garbage. The service was good. But food and cost was deff way over priced. Could have eat fine dinning restraunt for same cost and way more food.
Well I have been there a few times. Food is good. However this morning I went I was by my self and because I didnt want to sit at the counter she said they had no small tables and all thought there were others tables did not offer me one. I guess they can afford to turn away business.
I ordered eggs Benedict. It comes with a pork tenderloin on it instead of Canadian bacon. The pork tasted spoiled, so I sent it all back and reordered something else. My eggs were inedible. The bacon tasted spoiled as well. The server was nice enough, but I definitely wont be back. Food is horrible.
Food was good the reason why they will be getting a 1 star is because the hostess was very rude my husband and I wanted a booth and she sat us at this at a half booth half table ( very little table) and when we said we wanted a booth she argued with us claiming that was a booth , then we said again can we have a booth and she huffed and puffed , then when we finished our meal and started to cash out I was explaining it to the lady that cashed us out ( she was so nice) and the dumb hostess came and thought it was a good idea to try to argue with me. It’s unfortunate that that is the first person that you interact with , it really makes the food not worth it.
Stopped for breakfast after a doctors appointment. Huge amount of food. I had one disappointment. Beware that when the waitress asks if you would like cheese and/or onion in the hashbrowns as those items will cost you an extra .59 per item. It was my fault in not asking prior to saying Yes or seeing the extra charge listed on the menu. And when the hashbrowns arrived the amount of the cheese and onions added on top of the hashbrowns was about a tablespoon each..not worth the money. I know extras cost money but when you can get 3 pounds of onions for .99 the .59 seemed excessive. Just include the onions in the original price of the hashbrowns..a tablespoon of onions will not be missed in the big scheme of things. Other than this, the food was great with a wonderful presentation.
I just left ur restaurant on Monroe St and its 11:30am on Saturday. Upon entering I was pleased to see there was not a wait and there were 6 or more tables available. U can imagine my surprise when I ask to be seated at a table for 4 and was told no we r too busy. Now mind u Im 66 and weigh 270 and was looking for a place to stretch out and read my paper. As a result, I was placed at a small table that butted up to a wall and was close to a walk way. After being bumped five times I Wolfed down my food and preceeded to pay my bill. At which time a cashier, somehow knowing my predicament, told me that if I came back during the week they could accommodate my request for a table more suited for my wishes...NEWS FLASH...if u cant respect my request on a Saturday with NO ONE WAITING there sadly wont be a next time.
My family went to Ricks City Diner on New Years Day. We found the food to be fine, but nothing special. When this is the case, any diner, including Ricks, needs to also focus on the little things to set themselves apart from their competition. For example, a cup of coffee is $2.99 with free refills, but when my wifes cup was empty, the waitress was nowhere to be found. There was a man that came out of the office who could have lent a hand (Rick?, the Manager?), but he was too busy having a very loud conversation with a large table of people, giving the place more of a sports bar atmosphere than a family diner. In addition, throughout our meal, there was a continuous cold breeze blowing over us from the opening at the bottom of the back door. This was exacerbated whenever an employee came in from a cigarette break dragging their trail of smoke behind them.My advice to Ricks is to add focus to the little things that can make an average meal something special. Meanwhile, we will keep shopping the competition.

2022-05-05While the food is a tiny bit on the high side for a diner, its deserved. The food quality is excellent and dear goodness their bread is excellent. Something I dont usually care for really was an allstar. Will return.

2021-07-25Great flavor and service- I enjoyed eating here. Great Benedict dishes, kids meals are too crazy but covered all basic stuff, scrambled eggs, bacons and toast. I ordered French toasts , came out with 2 pieces and a syrup, for kids meal. I had Benedict Florentine, substitute potatoes with cottage cheese. Good coffee too. Service was very nice and quick. Breakfast took 20 mins for 4 orders. I would come back again.

2021-09-21Clean, upscale restaurant that serves you breakfast, lunch or dinner all day long. Food is good and service is fast. Lots of windows that help bring in the natural sunlight.

2022-06-14What a wonderful place! Id not been there before, but my sister told me that the food was great. I found the food to be fresh and healthy. Rick uses good brands and organic like I do at home. The servers were nice, the atmosphere was pleasant, and I was pleased to see that tables were spaced nicely. I will definitely place this on my restaurant list!

2021-02-26What a fun, beautiful place!! Youre greeted with a smile and an enthusiastic, Hi! How are you? Meaghan was amazing!! GREAT service!! Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast. . .this place has them 7 different ways! But dont worry. . .if youre not into that, theres PLENTY of other options: pancakes, omelets, waffles, French toast and a multitude of egg dishes. The food is delicious and generously portioned. Theyve been very creative in social distancing their tables/booths with life sized Micky and Minnie dolls, mannequins and other entertaining images. Ill be back!!

2022-04-28Based on a well developed website, and our search for a favorite go to diner, me and wife went to Ricks for breakfast. Nice decor and atmosphere. Waitresses were prompt and quite pretty. Ordered the scrumptious French toast and was surprised to be presented with a bowl containg 2 hot soaking wet, quite a mess, pieces of French bread pudding something, Was very disappointed. Maybe try separating the 2 slices on a plate? Not sure if we will go back. Rest of menu looks enticing, somewhat expensive though, but now days whose isnt?

2022-05-04Most expensive diner I have ate at. Sandwich $15, kids grill cheese $8, hot dog $7. Salads are $15! For two adults and 1 kid it was $52 with tip. Typical prices for diner lunches $8-10. Price gouging! They should be flagged for this.....Food was just alright. Its diner food. It should be cheap and mediocre food.

2022-04-25Food was good...my brie and fig jam omelet was tasty. A bit pricey for a diner but the cocktail option is a nice addition. Staff was friendly and service was good.

2022-06-302nd time here. Nothing to write home about. Just okay food. Eggs benedict had so much sauce on it, it was covering entire plate as well as on top. Eggs were hard boiled, no run at all to them. Cranberry Mimosa was just okay. All I tasted was cranberry juice. Didn’t even finish it. Other meals at table was okay. Service was okay as well. Not busy as at all. Seem it took longer for our orders to be taken. The food arrived pretty quick though.Need to relook at the sauce for the benedict. Just had an odd taste to it. Wouldn’t come back again
