We had a great experience! We received outstanding service, especially from Rick. He showed us the type of service that I miss in the world. There needs to be more people like him. He even remembered our names when we came in the second time. Not only did he remember our names but he remembered what my boyfriend needed from our first trip when they were out of stock on some items and we needed to come back. Thanks for such an awesome experience. We will be getting our supplies from you from now on!
Ive shopped at Renaissance Fine Art Supplies a couple of times now and all of my experiences have been great! Usually I am just shopping for art supplies for my young kids, so I dont take advantage of the high-end art supplies they have in stock. But they do have a lot of kid-friendly art supplies as well. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help you find what you need, without giving you a hard sell on something that you might not need. The prices are comparable with other art shops and its great to support a local business with deep roots in Hamilton.
Trying to protect my baby during the pandemic, it has been very difficult to get the supplies needed to pursue my art work. I called the other day and asked if this store had a curbside pickup, and the staff was more than happy to assist me. I wasn’t even sure which supplies I needed, but they helped walk me though what they had and put together a cart for me and even made recommendations. The BEST service I have EVER experienced. ❤️❤️
Ordered on line, my first experience with Renaissance Fine Art Supplies store. Best price on foam core to be found. And when I picked up my order, it was all I could do to make it out of the store without stuffing my bag with supplies....so much eye candy! I am so grateful to have a local art supply store again, and one so well provisioned.
Its so awesome to have a little local art store! Im a watercolorist and they carry a wonderful array of paints, brushes, papers, and palettes. Im super pleased to see that theyve added some professional grade half pans. Theyre a smidge pricier than other stores, but its so worth it to just pop in and get what I want rather than spend a week waiting online, or hoping that a chain craft store has what Im looking for in stock. Cant reccommend them enough!
Locally owned, the staff working is knowledgeable and friendly. They have a great selection of beginner as well as more advanced art supplies. Theres even a try me station where you can try out certain products before buying them. Their prices are great too, theres really no reason for me to go to chain art stores anymore.
This summer I took a painting class at the Fitton Center, great class by the way, and our teacher suggested that we stop by Renaissance Fine Art Supplies if we wanted to continue with our efforts. So I did and I found a great little shop with a great selection of products and brands to choose from. Add in a truly informed staff and it was a very successful shopping trip! They add products often and support a growing range of art forms. They have recently added pottery clays and supplies so if you want a more complete source of art supplies than the big craft stores can offer check out Renaissance! It doesnt hurt that there is free street parking available in front of the store during the less busy times of the day.
I absolutely love shopping at Renaissance!! It is by far one of my absolute favorite art stores. Every time when I go in I can find exactly what I need and if I dont see it myself all I have to do is ask for help from the workers. They are so knowledgeable and have helped me countless times to find the right thing that I need. They are so nice to talk to and are very personable and friendly. Every time I walk in to the store my artistic self gets so excited and happy to see all of the amazing art supplies. If I had to choose my favorite art store it would definitely be Renaissance!!
The family that owns and operates this wonderful store are the reason that I have been able to pursue my passion as an oil painter. With their amazing sales, awesome selection of supplies, and the best customer service from Dayton to Cincy, I was able to get very high quality supplies at very reasonable and fair prices. Im currently working on selling some of my paintings and finding a gallery to display my pieces in. And it is all thanks to this amazing family and their wonderful store. Thank you all so much for your dedication, patience, and hard work. -Jared
Was trying to find gum arabic, but couldnt find it and was about to order it online. Then I thought maybe there is still a real art store somewhere close... I was guessing Cincinnati. But Renaissance came up on my search and yay it was in Hamilton! I had no idea. Our son was thrilled with the store. Its well lit, and I like how the store was organized. So many supplies! I wish I would have known it was there for the past few school years. We were exploring pencil, pastels, charcoal, and this year its watercolor. Oh, and if youre into alcohol markers, they have those too. Loved the local feel. Really nice customer service and family owned!
I love this store and I love that it is so close to home even more! They have a lot of great supplies packed into such a small space and if they dont have it Rick & Chris will get it for you. They are knowledgable, friendly and so easy to work with. Every time Ive gone into the store it has been a great experience. Were lucky to have a fine art supply like this in our neighborhood!
Rick Jones and the staff at Renaissance Art Supplies are extremely knowledgeable and helpful about any supplies you may need or project you are working on. This is a great place to get Christmas gifts for the artist or wanna-be artist in your life. Rick will spend one on one time with you helping you choose the right gift or supplies for any budget. They even have coloring books now for those of us who are not so artistically-inclined. I love supporting small local businesses where the owners treat you like family.
Love this place! Its my go-to art supply store. Renaissance has the best selection of any art store Ive been to and they have specially ordered the items my wife and I use the most. You wont find a happier group of people that love all things art and who want to see you further along in your creative endeavors. They offer classes, and have tons of professional training resources. You would be hard pressed to find a better art store.
Local art stores are the BEST!!! Rick and his family truly make everyone feel at home. Whether you are a seasoned artist, beginner, or trying to brush off the dust like me, they will give you the personal attention you crave! Wonderful product! Fabulous service! Intriguing events! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
Renaissance Fine Art Supplies is a wonderful store. It is well stocked with quality art materials for the beginning to the advanced artist. Cant find that special art material you have been looking for? The owner Rick Jones will be happy to order it for you. Dont miss out on this great store.
Renaissance Fine art is a great place for artist supplies. Whats great is that the store is centrally located in town so its not far to reach, especially since Hobby Lobby relocated its a time saver not to have to drive to the other side of town. Additionally the staff are willing to bring in items if they are not currently stocked. I have been trying out aqua board for watercolors and had gotten the only piece they had a Micheals (where I hate to go) I mentioned the product to the owner of Renaissance and the next time I was in he had it. The space is small but they have had anything Ive needed and more every time I go in. I hope more people will take advantage, including the art school kids at butler tech school for the arts and art space.Keep up the good work!
Long ago there were independent art stores, I used one in Dayton for my supplies in art school. You get a specialized touch in a place like that. Just a couple years back I decided to bring a budding artist to a REAL art store, and found out my old place was long gone. Thats when I found these guys. Their location is heavily stocked in a smaller space. Its very easy to get to and the knowledge is top notch.More recently I reached out to them over the internet for so advice and information and was not steered wrong. Its easy to just click away and have it delivered from Amazon, or run to the nearest big box with your coupon. But what do you really save, you may make the wrong purchase more than once , you miss that personal touch and that expert knowledge. BUY LOCAL
The owners are extremely helpful for finding the product that best fits your needs. They have a great knowledge of the products and are very friendly. They have good prices and have a great selection of art supplies! If there is something you need and they dont carry it, they will even order it for you! I love the store, the people, and the products!
This store is like candyland for an artist. I do not know how an independent shop like this can carry the inventory they do. Always great service and good specials. Make sure to sign up with email to get instant alerts for sales and special events. Love that a town like Hamilton can have such a great store to indulge our familys creative whims.
In the time of big box stores and Amazon purchases it is refreshing to still find a local, well stocked, and inviting art supply store! The staff is so knowledgeable ( all of them artists in their own right) and kind and approachable. They’ll answer your questions without being “salesy” and help you find what you need. If you are located anywhere in the Cinti or Dayton OH area you need to stop by!
Wonderful experiences every time I visit this store. Previously, I felt like I could only get quality art supplies through chain stores. Having a friendly, knowledgeable staff just down the street in Hamilton is great! They have so much in stock and if you need something they may not have, theyll put it on the shelves shortly.
I am very fortunate to be within easy driving distance of Renaissance Fine Art Supplies, but even if I were not, their web site has it all. My favorite art medium is colored pencil, and unlike the art/craft stores and even a couple of the fine art stores which carry mainly Prismacolor, Renaissance carries open stocks of two other high quality pencils, specifically Polychromos and Luminance. That means I dont have to go online when Im running low on a particular color. So glad they opened so close to me!
With one watercolor lesson under my belt and more questions than answers and confusion from the internet, I found Rick and Chris at Renaissance Fine Art Supplies! They both provided a wealth of information without pushing a line or product or making me feel like the neophyte that I was. Their prices were very competitive and best of all You Get To See what you are buying. They seem to have a full complement of inventory and can get you most anything you want! I will definitely return and support an indie art establishment!
Today, I met Rick for the 1st time. I came here for the selection and ratings - and left not disappointed. Rick listened to my needs and actually saved me money on the supplies I thought I needed. Highly recommend and will be returning...soon! Thank you Rick and staff!
I love that they opened up right near Miami University! They have been a life savior in providing a wide range of art materials for students and local artists. I am able to quickly pick up specific items, instead of having to order online or drive all the way to Cincinnati.
As a professional painter and illustrator I love that Renaissance Fine Art Supplies carries my favorite brands. M Graham, Daniel Smith, Winsor and Newton, Sakura of America (Micron/Gelly Roll), Prsima, and Liquitex are artist grade brands that I daily depend on. Having the ability to shop locally is a blessing and a rarity. The owners are not only friendly but also willing to go above and beyond to help each customer who walks through their door. If they do not have what you need they will order items in. Overall, this is a FANTASTIC small business with the key brands and quality items any artist needs. In the faceless world of online ordering it is a brilliant opportunity to find a store such as this.
Awesome place ! To be able to shop locally and not have to pay more for that luxury 👍 Makes it Great. Giving classes is another plus to be able to learn about so much more..... Sometimes a person may be uncomfortable to try new things. You are able to find out up close if it is something you would give a go at. After the class, everything you need is right there to get started on the new adventure as well as great help on products needed. The personal e-mails on what is going on, advise, etc. makes you feel great. From a doodler on up, you are a person enjoying art and given 100% back from the owners on sharing this enjoyment ! A place to check out for sure, if not for you....at least you checked.😊
I visited this store recently looking to get started with oil painting. I couldnt have found a better store for quality supplies and more so the expert guidance and advice in getting only what I needed to get started on the right foot. This is the place to go for help and materials. Its worth the drive downtown and a great resource to help you along the way.

2022-01-19I bought an art easel from them, and I absolutely love it. I use pastel as my main media, and its great because I can lay the easel down straight or flat or tilt it and it has a storage shelf on the bottom, its got four legs that make it sit very level and secure. Again, I absolutely love it. Thank you Rick for your help. Totally a five-star, place you will not be disappointed! Also, I have been ordering my pastels through Rick and he has been very, very wonderful with getting me certain colors and so many sticks of a certain color etc, and its great to have a place that can still do that. I used to buy individual sticks at different places but now, it is hard to find them, so thank you again Rick!Ronnie Taulbee

2022-04-19They have an excellent selection of art supplies and on the rare occasion they didnt have what I was looking for they were willing to order it for me.Perhaps even more valuable is the vast knowledge and advice Rick and Chris are so willing to offer. As artists themselves they share their passion for making art as well.I recently wanted to break into painting with oils. Rick was so helpful in his recommendations on what I should get to start and also what I didnt need to buy yet until I became more experienced. This is also your place for framing! I had a couple prints I needed framed and Brant did an amazing job.

2020-06-22Excellent place with a great selection of supplies at good prices. Frequent sales as well, so that helps. Very friendly and helpful staff as well. Its mostly focused on paints and painting supplies. While there were lots of drawing pads and charcoals/graphite pencils to choose from, theres almost no mechanical pencils to speak of. I only saw GraphGear 500s (which is a good one, at least), and some lead holders. Id love to see a good selection of mechanical pencils here someday.

2020-04-23They’re a local business that really goes above and beyond for their customers. They put together a care package of age appropriate art supplies to ship to our nephew during the quarantine while they were closed. (Before the quarantine, we’ve found the selection in the shop to have a wide range of high quality products.)We have also had several pieces of art framed here and were really happy how it turned out. We appreciated them offering professional advice and taking the time to help us select mats and frames that made our pieces really shine.
