Red Roof Inn Cleveland - Independence in other cities:
Plenty of burn holes in the bed spreads and random stains on the floor. To top it off there were people going and leaving at all times of the night slamming doors and being ridiculously loud. But other then that the staff was kind and allowed us to have two dogs in our room which was against the policy and the location was really close to the national parks we were going to So in my opinion you get what you pay for. Im going to rate it 3.4 white claws out of 10.
Only stars are for the front desk because he was great but the room 246 on 4/3/22 was horrible (not his fault) it wasn’t clean and it was the last room of the night that was available so I pretty much had to suffer. I should’ve just slept in my car during my road trip which is much cleaner smh
I love this place. I travel alot and I always come here whenever Im in town. My kids even choose this because they have ID tv!! Lol. But I have to say the employees deff do a great job. Always there with a smile. I have to say even during stressful busy moments dealing difficult customers this Aaron handled it very professionally, made sure to give one on one attention and really made everyone feel as if they were important and didnt make you feel dumb for having a card issue or whatever. Deff will come backThank you Aaron lol♡
Definitely deserves 2 stars.Pros:Good shower pressure, consistent good hot water. Comfortable beds. That’s about where it ends.Cons:Not very clean. Had to wear shoes to keep the bottom of my feet from turning black. Sheets were waxy, and there was a bandage very stuck to one of the blankets. Got no house keeping. Other guests were very loud. It’s overall pretty run down.Overall: works fine if you need a place to sleep. Don’t expect anything great.
Do not stay here. I stayed here with my family on 8-18-21 til 8-19-21. The room was dirty when we checked in. The furniture was worn out. The door handle to get in the room was loose and about to fall off. The bathroom didnt have a lock on it. The desk lamp has rust on the base, there was a water leak at some point in the room they fixed the water leak but they didnt fix the damage from the water.
This hotel was not very clean especially the parking lots in front of some of the rooms. There was debris in front of the door of the entrance into the main area where You get the keys to Your rooms. There were a couple of people working who were cleaning the rooms but, no one cleaning the grounds around the perimeter. I was there to deliver a semi catering order for the employees but, could not find the actual person whom I was to give the food too. I did lose a lot of time and money waiting for the person but, I always prefer to leave the food with the person who ordered the food.
If I could give this rating a zero I would. The rooms we so dirty they do not mop at all my feet had dirt on them walking around the room barefoot and I stayed for almost a week and a half here. The second to last night they even made me move rooms because they had to “paint” and promised a “deluxe room” and it was the same exact size as the last one and dirtier than the last one I was put in to begin with. I just had surgery so we had to move all of our belongings in a short period of time when Im on crutches. They checked me out with no paperwork at all and charged me a $200 fee for smoking when I did not even smoke in the room. This was a terrible stay I would not recommend staying here at all.
I checked in early and went to work. When I arrived late that night, the room was clean but there were lots of people hanging outside. The next day someone else checked me out of my room. The desk people removed all my personal items and then called to double check it had been me checking out. When I explained it wasnt, they checked me back in, put all my personal items back (including unpacking me) and then to make it all better, they serviced room. They then called me at work to tell me they did all this. When I arrived very late from work that night, I had to get the key redone. And of course no manager. When I did check out there was still no manager. Suffice it to say I am NEVER staying here again!!
When I walked into my room, I immediately saw that it hadnt been cleaned. There was something spattered on the alarm clock and when I laid on the bed I saw more of whatever it was on all the reading lamps, crusted drips of whatever. After 30 minutes I went back to the front desk area and cancelled my stay, but because Id been longer than 15 minutes I didnt get any money back. Went to the nearby Hilton for about $30 more and had a room that was twice the size, was cleaned and included a hot breakfast.I dont give many low reviews unless I feel like I need to really warn someone about the safety of the place. Considering what others have said about bedbugs, Id avoid this stop just for your health.
I booked there for 4 days! We got there and our room wasn’t ready! When we got it, it was a “smoke free” room but as soon as we opened the door room smelled like cigars or something! I checked the bathroom, and it was dirty! Toilet had pee around, there was dust on the floor, microwave did not work! We ended up just staying one night and canceling the rest of the days! I showed the receptionist how the bathroom was looking and he just said “sorry”. It was firt time staying at a red roof and definitely the last one!
The staff was very friendly and efficient when it came to check in. The rooms were very unclean and even though was supposed to be a non smoking hotel, smelled badly of smoke. We had bad allergies and felt sick once we checked in and immediately felt better upon leaving the hotel.
Red roof inn is usually amazing, But this experience was definitely lacking. The rooms were ok not really worth the price but the location was great!! Its near a lot of restaurants in walking distance. The customer service was HORRIBLE. I stayed from Thursday to Monday and only asked for houskeeping once. But apparently that was an issue because they only clean extened stays on certain days so I switched rooms. Moved too double tree hotel and so happy I did its gorgeous!
The location was not bad but my luck may have been. We arrived before our check in time and the very nice clerk found us a room right away. We checked in and realized the heater in the room was out. It was 15 or so degrees so that was kind of important. Went back to the desk and she found us another room. This room had a working heater and a musty smell. We didn’t want to chance asking for another room so we decided to make the best of what we had. The refrigerator was filled with left over food from the last guest. The door was clearly had pry marks all over it, so much so that in the evening you could see a steady stream of light from that side of the door. Around 2am there was an extremely loud argument in the parking lot. We couldn’t wait to check out and be on our way.Just across the road there is a good place to grab a drink and good food!
So I just checked in around 2:53p.m. on 07/17/2020. The girl at the front desk very professional. Pleasant with manners. So we go to our room 220. Tried open the door but I couldn’t because it’s broke, jammed, or something. So we saw a housekeeper. I asked nicely Can you please open our door for us? She never looked up and acknowledge us. So I repeated twice. She finally looks up with a nasty attitude replying I heard you. Like girl you glad I’m saved now!!!!! You should not be working customer service with that attitude. So I asked another housekeeper to open it. She must has previous customer service experience because she did it without an attitude!!!! The room is one of the cleanest rooms I have stayed in when staying at the Red Roof Inn. I would of given you five stars but your housekeeper attitude and the door blew it for me.
I travel throughout this country visiting differenthospitals and there is nothing better than staying at a nice quiet Inn like this Red Roof Inn is. Management, namely Angela, is very polite and knowledgeable when it comes to this business, I was very impressed. Not to mention Sara at the front desk who was absolutely as pleasant as could be and very helpful. The entire staff fantastic and I recommend this Red Roof Inn each and every one looking for a nice place to stay at a reasonable price and very clean. Very safe area as well... I sure dont look forward to going back to the Cleveland Clinic but at least I know I have a nice place to stay when and if I do.
Ive stayed at the red roof multiple times and only had a few complaints. This room in independence is one of the worse though. The ceiling is chipping away and there is a wall mount for a fire alarm but the actual alarm is missing, I think that is a great hazard. There is dog food by the air conditioning unit..we have no dog.. and stains on the bathroom door like a can of soda exploded. We will not be staying at this red roof again.
I wasn’t a guest here but my friend was staying here who I came to give a ride. I guess something went wrong while we were out and the manager Angela had everything removed. She demanded we give her $200 for the things but my husband left his heart medication in the room. I guess he violated some rule but I think the medicine should be an exception right? We never stayed in the room. We just forgot something in his room and things went sour. Thanks for the lose.
The pictures are deceiving. It was just ok. Smelled like smoke even though they say they are 100% smoke free. Walls were paper thin. I could hear 2 ladies in the next room to us talk about how they were glad their luggage made it from the airlines at 1130 at night. Not a bad place but it wont be our first choice again
Great location with friendly and attentive. An older motel but was clean and neat. Felt comfortable and safe there. Only request would be a coffee maker in each room. A room with a safe, iron, and dryer should certainly provide this accommodation. Otherwise, very happy and would stay here again with no reservations.
I stay here often. The price is great for the location and convenient for those traveling back and forth across the highway for appointments and those who work close by. Ive never had a complaint. The front desk staff are always friendly, courteous and very helpful. Only thing I wish is that they served breakfast and had better cable tv with better channels. The rooms are always clean and well stocked.
I got a room on July 31st 2019 for my mother and sister to stay at this hotel for the night while I am in Cleveland Clinic. Upon arrival they found a HUGE bed bug crawling on the night stand and lots of poop specks on the beds. My sister took the bug to the front desk and showed the front desk clerks. They agreed it was 100% a bed bug. They gave them another room and told them they would refund their money back to them and they were sorry. We have since then called 4 times to talked to the manger and left messages for a returned phone call. It’s now Aug 4th and we still haven’t herd from her. Not to mention it was dirty and not AT ALL what the pictures on the website showed. Very disappointing
The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. Its little things about this place that make it less than great. The rooms are equipped with a safe but no refrigerator. The outlets are too far from the bed to use your phone while it charges. The lighting is awkwardly placed. Its not bad, just off.
Encountered bed bugs the second night. Caught the actual bug in the plastic cups provided and took to hotel staff. They were very nice and called the manager who they could not get a hold of right away. I returned the keys and was told in order to get a refund they have to have the room inspected. Seriously? I brought the bug to you to see. I was bitten and had a bad reaction and had hives all over my body. My daughter found the bug crawling on her head and now she had a swollen eye lid. And had to go lock up bed bug spray to spray all my belongings so they do not transfer into my house. I deserve to be refunded for this stay.
The front desk was very friendly and nice she walked me thought the payment and still kept a smile when someone came in rude as ever did understand the rules of smoking. The room was nice and clean. Also the housekeepers kept us with clean towels and a made up bed. Well go back there any day
The staff in the office was nice and when I got to my room I was happy to find that they have changed their bed spreads to the softer ones that we can now use bcuz they get washed every time there is a new guest!!!The only problem I had was there was stuff on my floor. I kept stepping on little pieces of something and I didnt appreciate that. But other than that, its still the Red Roof Inn!Id recommend it as a place in need.
We loved it so much that we are going back this weekend. We like the idea of the Ralpie Rate. You get the 20 inch leg lamp, two tickets to tour the A Christmas Story house and museum and two mugs for one low price. The bed was so comfortable that we asked for the same room again, I really hope they can accommodate us. If not I hope the other beds are as comfortable. Great place to stay.
Our first stay in March was non eventful. This most recent time the room was disgusting. It looked like the room hadnt been cleaned in months. There room smelled awful. There was a roach in the bathroom. When I picked up the phone there were age old crumbs on the handle and in the cradle. The remote was also filthy. You could see where the sink had been wiped down. You didnt even want to take your shoes off in the room bc the carpet felt disgusting..
Traveling with my wife and 9 month old daughter and we asked for a crib for the room. They didnt have one...thats a first but ok. So I asked for an extra blanket to lay her on in one of the dresser drawers and they told me they didnt have any spare blankets...no spare blankets in this entire hotel?? Come on. In addition to that Im giving one star because there was leftover food in our fridge, no coffee cups for the coffee maker, and the bottoms of my feet are literally black from walking around the room barefoot. This place is absolutely disgusting and obviously hasnt been cleaned in ages.
Liked the stay, staff friendly and helpful, the room was clean . The only criticism would be leaving to go back to the street, city planners must have had a few too many drinks before they approved the plans to that street had to go over to another street to get out or cut through a couple of parking lots to get back to the street. But my stay was pleasant and my cat gave it a paws up.
This place used to be good. No one that works here cares to clean properly. Since this location turned into a franchise everything had gone downhill. Bed bugs do not stay here. Housekeeping cant clean a dam thing so nasty . Nasty nasty nasty nasty . I used to work here 5 years ago and i actually cleaned everything . Left here now Im at Holiday inn in a higher position due to my cleaning skills.
The best place to stay if you have to go to Cleveland Clinic. It’s 7 miles from the hospital, but if you tell them you are there to be seen at the clinic, you get a special rate of about $62 per night for a room with two beds. Very well kept, very, very clean. Not fancy, but very affordable and plenty of places to eat and shop all around you. Motels only walking distance of the hospital are around $200 per night. This is definitely worth the money. The staff is so helpful and friendly. I have stayed there four times and will stay again.
Normally a better experience - but this time not so great. Checked into our room to find that even though housekeeping had readied it, the trash cans had not been emptied: we had an ice bucket lid but no bucket; a burnt-out light bulb; a used bar of soap and used shampoo tube in the shower; and a TV remote that basically didnt work. Got the ice bucket, bulb, and a new remote from front desk that night, so they were responsive there. Later that night we discovered that you had to hold the toilet flush lever until the tank completely drained in order to fully flush the toilet, plus the hot/cold balance in the shower and sink made it almost impossible to set the temperature low enough to not scald. At best, the bottom 25% of the knob ranges were safe to use. Then the next morning, we discovered that the refrigerator was set to maximum cold which meant that everything we put in it had frozen overnight :-(To be fair, weve stayed at this location several times in the past and never had problems like this. Not sure what happened this time though!
The room was very nice. But the beds are not the most comfortable and the shower doesnt have a liner and gets the floor very wet. The TV remote doesnt work and the side buttons dont either. Its also a 100% smoke free hotel, which I didnt really like but then again I chose this hotel knowing that.
Let me start this by saying I’m writing this in the actual hotel room at 1am. The walls are paper thin; I can hear people talking outside in the parking lot. Now there are people yelling at eachother and surprise! I can’t sleep. The room feels extremely dirty, and the front door doesn’t close all the way! The TV remote doesn’t even work; you can turn it on and change the volume, but the select button doesn’t work which is needed to watch tv. The only reason this deserves even one star is that the beds are comfy and the AC is cold. So happy I’m only here for one night. Avoid at all costs!Update: the bathroom door also doesn’t close. This place is a disaster.
My lady and I got a room at the Red Roof Inn on a whim after attending a concert in Cleveland. We didnt feel like driving back to her apartment in Akron. After looking at the hotels in the area on Google Maps it seemed like the nicest hotel for the price. When we got there the front desk guy was extremely nice and helpful. Unfortunately, the rate we saw on Google Maps was for rooms that were sold out so we got the upgraded room. It was more expensive than we anticipated, but since part of the reason we decided to stay in a hotel was for a bit of novelty, the nicer room was actually pretty neat. After putting our things in the room, we walked across the street to the Winking Lizard and had a bite to eat, which was convenient and pleasant. We went back to the room and pretty soon thereafter we went to bed. Overall the room was clean and well decorated. We enjoyed our stay.
For a budget hotel, their concierge was great and their registration lobby smelled wonderful. That might not be a BIG deal to some but for me, having been in really smelly lobbies, it was a welcome surprise. Dominique, our concierge was great, she had the best personality ever! While trying to check is in, her mustve rang at least 5 times, each time she simply excused herself and answered the call, all while remaining professional. The rooms have ample space for two ppl and were clean. Bed was comfortable but pillows couldve been a bit more fluffy (but you get what you pay for), and that goes for the towels too.Overall great stay. Definitely a Red Roof Inn fan now!
Location was right off the highway which was nice. Easily accessible restaurants nearby. Room was clean however both the TV and a light in the room didnt work. Id suggest asking to be on the 2nd floor as the noise from ground level can get pretty bad. Overall it was a decent place to stay considering the price.
The management put a trainee on the front desk alone at 10pm on a Friday. Her computers went down so she ended up with a lobby of about 6 people trying to check in. She had no way of knowing which rooms had which types of beds. It took 30+ minutes to check in. I felt so bad for her! Once in, the room seemed clean enough. I was surprised to find dog food under my bed the second night. While housekeeping came by our room, they didnt make the bed or anything. For a place to sleep it was good enough but seems mismanaged at best.
It worked for the night i thought it was a little bit more then I expected price wise i had a truck an trailer hard to park the gentleman at the desk was very polite and friendly he explained what i needed to do to park my truck and trailer for the evening. Room was clean little noisier then i expected but its one of the cheapest hotels around with that you get alot of people....
Do not book a room here!!! Let me start by saying that I cant review the rooms since I never got to see the room. We made a reservation online through the hotels website a couple of weeks earlier then arrived to check in. The poor woman working the desk had no idea what she was doing and repeatedly told customers she hadnt been properly trained to be working on her own. She was having issues getting anyone checked in and even couldnt find one guests reservation at all. We had reserved a room for $97. When it was our turn, the clerk kept saying she was having all kinds of issues with the system. We got so frustrated we told her to cancel our reservation completely. At this point she said she would at which point she somehow charged our credit card $256. She radioed the manager to come help. When he showed up, we asked if he was the manager and his response was, sort of, the manager is on vacation. He managed to cancel our reservation and it appears the charges on our card have been reversed, but we will be keeping a close eye on our account over the next week or so to make sure the charges dont return. To summerize, I wont stay here. I will make sure that no one I know stays here. This is the worst experience Ive ever had at a hotel.
Stayed here for one night and it surpassed my expectations. For how cheap it was it was very clean and nice comfortable bedroom, free coffee and wife. Oh and arrived an hour and half early for checking in and the guy at the front managed to find me an empty room so that I wouldn’t wait that long. Great service overall.
My girlfriend and I stayed here in October of 2018 for one night. It was pleasant enough. The man working downstairs in the lobby was very conversational and kind. We were stumped by our door (hint: pull up!) and he came upstairs to help us figure it out (without judgement, which was appreciated, lol). Our room was cozy for what we expected and there was nothing really spectacular or wrong about it.However, we did find a semi crushed peanut on the floor under our mini fridge that was out in the open and what looked like an oil stain on our sheets which made us question the cleanliness of the room. We didnt see the need to complain about it at the time.Secondly, there were no shampoos/soaps as is customary with most hotels, which was strange, but thankfully I bring all of my own toiletries and my girlfriend was able to use mine. The lighting in our room could use some repair as one of the lights above our bed was missing its covering and the light by the bathroom over the mirror was flickering a lot, like a strobe light.Additionally, the shower only had one temperature: HOT! I could barely stand to be in the water and it kept going cold for a few seconds before getting scolding hot again. We could not get it to be cooler. We wanted to watch a movie but there is obviously no DVD/Blu Ray player in the room, so we looked into renting a movie.. $19.99 was the cost of ONE movie, more than wed pay at a theater. Next we tried connecting our phones to the TV as instructed which was a bust as the TV/app refused to communicate. So cable TV it was.. which wasnt horrible because Halloween movies were on, thankfully. Finally, their 100% smoke free signage and claims are not true. Our room did not smell of smoke, but people were smoking on the balconies, in breezeways, and right outside of the hotel rooms on the floor level. It was gross, but I didnt understand how they had a lot of signs up saying people were not allowed to do this and yet many, many people were doing it.There was a safe, microwave, mini fridge, and TV in the room. A chair, a desk, two mirrors, and a vanity along with a shower and toilet. Parking was close by and unproblematic. Wifi worked great. It was a run of the mill hotel room. Not dissatisfied and not overly pleased. Okay for what we needed it for.
Staying here indefinately for family in Cleveland Clinic, so shopped for lower rate hotel. Nice clean room BUT...UNBELIEVABLY noisy. Not sure if its the class of people that book a lower end hotel or what, but all night long people come and go without even trying to respect others who may be trying to sleep. Seems that is why you stay the night in a hotel...lol..? Police here twice..a fight one night and a robbery another. If you book here, for sanity and restful sleep...ask for a quiet room..second floor best, and away from stairs.
Disgusting. First room was unlocked. The door was literally wide open and the room was filthy. Next room is just as filthy. Dirt and grime in the bathroom, on surfaces throughout the room, and hairs in the bathroom. Then I find a stink bug on my pillow when I get out of the shower at 1am. I will not be sleeping. What a nightmare.
Very dissatisfied, was not the room I booked on line, there was garbage on the floor, dirty sheets and towels shoved in the drawers, NO CLEAN TOWELS OR WASH CLOTHES AND NO REMOTE TO THE TV ! Oh and the bathtub was slimy , talked to staff in the office they didn’t really care! I stay there a lot for business but I will go to the holiday inn from now on unless someone makes this right
Found out the shower curtain was full of mold after taking a shower. Im highly allergic to such and the front desk lady refuse to refund becuae i stayed to the morning. But coincidentally thats when i discovered the mold. She she Said would check into it. She Called me back and said i was there was no traces but i have everything on camera! Horrible staff and she thought i was just trying to get a free room.
We stayed there for a total of 7 nights in a three week span. Close to the interstate but we heard no noise from traffic. We had two different rooms and both were very clean and well kept. The second room had a tub that drained slowly so we asked for maintenance to take a look. The maintenance guy followed us back to the room on the spot and had it fixed in less than 5 minutes. The rest of the staff was equally responsive and helpful with anything we needed. There were several eateries nearby within walking distance to a short drive including Bob Evans, Dennys, The Winking Lizard, McDonalds, and Delmonicos.
You definitely get what you pay for in this place. When we checked in the front counter was extremely friendly but we got to our room and the fridge/microwave werent even plugged in and they were shoved awkwardly behind the front door, most of the plug-ins didnt work, phone didnt work, and the tv remote worked when it felt like it. When we left at check out time the front was definitely not friendly at all. Definitely just a place to rest your head for a night but not somewhere I would choose again.
This was the worst and the most ghetto experience I have ever had. When I got to the room it smelled like pure marijuana. They say they are smoke free. I went to change rooms they gave me the key to a room that was already occupied when I opened the door there were people laying in bed. The worst.
Horrible place. Shady people. Smelled like cigarettes and urine. Guy at front desk didnt even have a pen for you to sign paperwork. Got to the room practically has to bust the door down to get in. Deadbolt didnt work. Toilet had a big chunk out of the back AND didnt flush. Called in advance to let them know we were bringing our dog, so of course we were on the third floor and the elevator was temporarily out of service. Marched right back down to front office to demand a refund which the guy had to call someone to tell him how to do it. And killed a cockroach on my way out. Horrible place. Wouldnt even really give it one star.
The front desk worker was very helpful. My friend needed a shower chair and he tracked one down. He also brought us a discount promo code for food delivery to our room when inquired about food delivery. The location is great to get food. A nice American tavern called Wiinking Lizard Tavern in walking distance was right across the way with seating on the patio. There was also a steak house too. I forgot slippers and was wearing only sandals I was barefoot a few times in the room and the rugs and floor were filthy. I asked housekeeping to mop the floor and I think they did. But the rugs really need cleaned though too.
Last Saturday our truck broke down on the Ohio turnpike. Thankfully there was Red Roof Inn. From Saturday night till today we waited while our exhaust manifold and turbocharger were replaced. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, even doing a load of laundry. The staff were friendly and courteous as well as funny. Just want them to know that all their kindness was greatly appreciated.
I don’t do this often, but because of the multiple things that happened during our stay, I felt it was necessary to voice my disappointment and anger with my stay at one of your Hotels. I am writing again, because I sent one message already, and it is now the 14th and I have had not one response regarding my complaint.I stayed at the Red Roof Cleveland-Independence location in Room 126 from 11/9-11/12. When I took the ice bucket to get ice, underneath the ice bucket were two little yellow pills. The room was kind of run down, and a little shabby. The toilet ran and ran and ran, and when the room behind us flushed, it looked and sounded like our toilet was going to overflow. We left our room on Saturday morning to go sight-seeing, and when we got back to our room at 11:30 p.m., we were very shocked, angry and disappointed to find that our room had not been cleaned, and there were no clean towels. I walked to the front desk to complain and the front desk clerk swore, and said “Not again!” Then she proceeded to talk to the other person behind the counter about the cleaners and them not doing their jobs. I asked for some clean towels and was given some. No apology, just handed two towels and nothing else. When I left on the 12th, not one person asked about my stay. I got home and realized that I had left a satin nightie and robe on the back of the bathroom door in my room, and surprise.......when I called to say that I had left it, no one had found it when they cleaned the room........Not happy!!We chose the Red Roof Inn because of the location, and convenience. We could have chosen multiple other Hotels in the same area. I paid a pretty good penny to stay at this Hotel, and the only expectation I have is that I won’t find pills in my room, and that my room gets cleaned every day of my stay. I don’t think for the price, that that is too much to ask.Needless to say, I was and am very disappointed with the experience I had during my stay. I am not at all happy with my stay, and am even angrier that I left something in my room and it was not turned in to the front desk. Not a happy customer at all right now!!!
Good place to stay the night. Clean, quiet. IBut I do not appreciate the surcharge for a safe that I have no intention on using. You can ask for a refund on checkout but thats an unnecessary hassle. Dont change me in the first place! The price I agree to online is the price I expect at check in! No more hidden surprises!
Though the bed was lovely and soft, our request for new sheets was ignored despite them smelling of urine. Hotel bathroom supplies was one small bottle of shampoo (barely enough for ones hair) and a small bar of soap. The hotel also does not have any sort of breakfast- only coffee and you have to go to the lobby for that.
CHECKED ROOM WITH BLACKLIGHT, NOT A SPECK! GETS A 100 A + If I could give the staff Cindy and Keith a 10 star rating I would. Excellent service, good people who are willing to work hard to please their customers. I was a night auditor for years in Gatlinburg TN and they would have been well rewarded for the effort and hospitality. 10 Stars! Rooms were clean, good area, a few cracks here and there in plaster but nothing a little love wont fix. I will be returning here from here on out! For Cleveland Clinic patients like myself who cant afford 150.00 - 300.00 a night this is the best little kept secret in the area to help keep your costs down and not worry about the area you are staying. I was also informed by staff they give a discount especially for Hospital clients if they bring proof of an appointment at the local hospital Cleve Clinic.
This was going to be a one star review, but Thank God, David (the front desk clerk), corrected everything. They have the best lotion and shampoo! The location is amazing- shopping, restaurants, etc- all within walking distance! Added bonus- your furbabis stay free! Its also less than 8 miles from the Cleveland Clinic- added bonus! ; )
Okay for price, but seriously outdated and uncomfortable! The light above the mirror was basically a strobe light, couldnt keep it on bc I started to get dizzy, the shower squealed while showering, the tv is small and the buttons were hard to push in, the furniture was dirty, there was bbq sauce or something on the computer chair that I had used to study with a night before a nearby exam. This place is not nearly as relaxing as I thought it would be and what the pictures showed! Bleh!
The bed sheets had stains on them, the hair dryer wouldnt stay on, the shower was dirty, the drawer handle was about to come off on one of the drawers, even though it said smoke free it always smelled like smoke as soon as we walked in, this was our second time staying there. The first time was like 2 or 3 years ago and it was better then, then now.
Just stayed here last Sunday. I was in complete shock when I walked into my room, the smell was horrendous and to the point where I had to buy febreezd. Also, I now have multiple bug bites which appeared after my stay.DO NOT STAY HERE. Pay a little extra money and stay up the street.
Bedbugs. I stayed in room 228. I turned out my light at 2am and at 2:45am I felt two itchy bites next to each other that werent there when I went to sleep. I turned on the light, flipped the sheet and immediately found the bug (see picture). Bottom line: the motel is refusing to treat the room. I wouldnt take a chance, find a different motel. If you want details continue reading.I immediately packed up my belongings, put the bug in a plastic cup and sealed in a bag, took it to management and went to a different hotel. The night manager assured me that I would receive a full refund. This is all more of a pain than just switching hotels, my belongings need to be washed and my luggage sprayed. A considerable hassle. This afternoon I received a call from Red Roof in stating that they had an independent contractor come out and they didnt find anything. (tbh I did a minor check for eggs before I even laid down to sleep because I dont normally stay at motels or Red Roof Inns, and I found nothing too. But then, Im not a professional). I confirmed with them that this would mean the room will not be treated. They told me that since I brought something to the night manager they would still refund my money, but no there was nothing to treat. And I get all that. But I dont carry around bed bugs for the fun of it and its kind of absurd to think I would change hotels in the middle of the night just because I felt like it. And Im a frequent traveler, I rely on reviews to make the wisest decisions. So I think people deserve to know there are bedbugs in room 228 and the motel is refusing to treat it. Bedbugs are unfortunately something travelers occassionally encounter. I could respect Red Roof if they apologized and treated the room. Its irresponsible not to do so and will only result in the spread of the bugs. What a lot of people dont know about bedbugs is that there is only a small portion of the population who are allergic to their bites. So chances are many people have been bitten by them, they just dont know. They are more prevalent than you think. I am highly allergic to the bite, my daughter is not. The two bites (they normally bite and walk so you will often find lines of the bites) have now become one huge, hot welt on my arm. I will never stay in a Red Roof in again. You truly get what you pay for.
Checked into my room and immediately left to see a show downtown. Got back to my room at almost 11 and got ready for bed. The room looks very nice. Nicer than I expect for the price. Temp control works well. Tried to turn the tv on, and it wouldnt work... Looked behind the tv to see theres no powercord. Went to call the front desk from the room phone and the phone was dead. Checked that the line was plugged in properly and still got nothing. Contacted the front desk from my cell and they sent someone to my room to check out the tv. He couldnt find the power cord either. He left the room for a few minutes then came back to offer us a different room, but it was 2 beds instead of the 1 king that we had because every other room was booked. At this point it was almost midnight so I declined. The last thing I wanted to do was gather my stuff together and carry it to another room. Woke up this morning to discover that the iron is missing from the room as well... Rather disappointed. Wasnt offered any type of compensation.
For starters, Im aware that the Red Roof Inn is not some upscale classy hotel, but $80 and some change per night was entirely overpriced for a standard room that was slightly bigger than a walk-in closet. To top that off, the lighting was so finicky that there was literally a 50/50 chance it would work when you go to flick the light switch on. Also, dont count on basic amenities like a microwave, closet, or mini fridge. You wont find that here. Ive been to comparable hotels and found that these amenities were offered. One of the amenities mentioned on the website is cable TV. Dont get your hopes up, youll find about 7 channels at max. Also, the bed wasnt exactly what I would describe as comfortable. It was hard and creaked like a door. We were actually afraid it was going to break. Also, DO NOT book this hotel for the purposes of resting, because thats next to impossible here. Unbeknownst to us, we were placed in a room next to the laundry room, where a big industrial washer clanged and hummed loudly promptly at 7 am like a unwanted wake up call. If the noise from the washer doesnt wake you up, the loud music the workers play while washing sheets will. It doesnt stop there though.... Saturday a biker gang showed up and hosted a huge party right in the parking lot outside our rooms, laughing, talking and swearing loudly, playing loud obnoxious music, and revving up their motorcycles, drinking.....keep in mind this was at 1 oclock in the morning. At no time, was the police called, or did staff attempt to quiet them down in consideration for the rest of their guests. After hours of drunken biker partying, the party finally wrapped up. When I was finally able to drift off to sleep, I was awaken by the bikers shouting loudly about finding someone to kick their ass, mind you....this was about 4 in the morning. I would NEVER stay another night at this hotel, in this location. I would also NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy.
Service was great, the people there were extremely friendly and made me feel welcome, however the bed was unimaginably uncomfortable. It was an old box spring bed and it felt like at least one of the box springs was digging into my back, the bed was very uncomfortable.
The staff is great! I walked in late one night after missing my bus and my phone was dead. The guy at the front desk let me use his personal cell phone and gave me a few suggestions for different ride services I could contact. Thanks to him I was able to find a safe ride home around 2am. Im forever greatful!
Awsome hotel. I had the most expensive room. Had all the luxuries. King size bed, 50 inch flat sceen tv, my own refrigerator, with ice machine. Coffe Machine, Air conditioning, A Safe to put your belongings. They also had some kind of room service I didnt use. Definitely going to stay at Red Roof Inn, when I go back to Cleveland..
The place was very clean. My mother had surgery and I needed a hotel to stay in. We had a coupon that they allowed me to use for a couple days which was nice. The problems started when my card was deactivated and I got locked out of my room in freezing temperature wearing little. When I went to the lobby, the person demanded to see some identification. I thought that was very rude. The room didnt have a microwave in it and they didnt have a microwave in the lobby and they wouldnt let me use one, and said I could purchase a room with a microwave and fridge but then Id have to take all my stuff out and move to another room?? Its -5 degrees outside.... I dont want to even be out. So I had to drive to the gas station in a blizzard cold weather to heat up my soups when I was deathly sick. The next day some jerk-off almost came into my room without knocking, I was naked and sleeping, he asked me if I was going to stay another day and then demanded that I re-reg, WHY ON EARTH WOULD I HAVE TO RE REGISTER?From my experience the rooms were great but the people that work there are very rude. I called the front desk to file a complaint and they waved todays charge. That was ok which is why I gave them an extra star. All in all, if youre a fan of RRI go to another one.
Horrible noise issues! Heard car doors and room doors slam all night till I fell asleep at 3am. Woke to some white trash screaming and cussing outside my window at 8am. Construction going on at 9am. Reserved online, and then they charged me again when I got there. It tied up an extra $75 in my bank account for 4 days. So if youre on a budget, beware! Cigarette burns and stains on bedding, little black hairs on towels, tv channels all fuzzy. The deadbolt plate on my door was broke. I have nothing nice to say about this place. When I checked out they didnt even bother to ask how my stay was. Guess they already knew. I drove 5 hours to go to a concert in Cleveland, and had to drive back home after not sleeping at this horrifying dump. If you are looking for a place to SLEEP, stay away from here. Even with earplugs, the a/c on high, and the bath vent on I heard loud bangs all night. I didnt feel safe. Kept looking to make sure my door wasnt kicked in. The room doesnt get dark enough either, the light comes in through the curtains. Never again! You couldnt pay me to stay there again. Overpriced too. This felt more like a $30 or $40 hotel room. The $75 price does not keep the riff raff away either. I tried to save a little money by staying there, soooo wish I didnt have to live through such an awful experience.
Really nice hotel. Located near the highway just up the hill. Plenty of restaurants near by. Clean facility. Beds comfortable, rooms clean, water really hot. Beautiful view. Friendly staff. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. I will definitely return when in the area.
I’m currently staying here, have been since January 2nd and the past couple of days have been horrible! First I stopped getting any kind of house keeping, I have to walk to the office to get tissue and towels myself after working 16 hours and on top of that the staff has been horribly nasty to us.... Today the guy tells me for a second time Dave didn’t charge my card like I requested and now I owe for TWO days instead of one, my mom (a71 yr old disabled elder) wants to know why this keeps happening and needless to say she got nothing but nasty attitude, hateful words, the guy hung up on her after threatening to call the cops to put us out because Dave didn’t take the payment(he also says that’s outlet fault he didn’t take it properly) now after 2 hours of trying to pay him I get screamed at because Dave DIDN’T TAKE THE PAYMENT the guy tells me he won’t take my payment and he’s going to kick us out because we won’t pay BUT I’m standing there trying to make the payment! Please go somewhere else the headache isn’t worth it!!!!
Horrible experience, got our room keys thrown at me, then shes complaining about not getting to eat dinner bc we just keep ruining for her. Then pest control being there this morning then when we go to complain about our service her husband, who btw doesnt work there tries to help, no we need the employee not him. Also my daughter was building a fort with our blankets and we found a baby cockroach. The manager that we spoke with on the phone for customer service was great, wish she could of been more helpful and she apologized for it.. we left and didnt look back
Upon arrival I was informed that the computers went down and so had to be checked in by paper. I was given a room number and a key. My daughter opened the door to the room only to find there was a FAMILY already in that room! When I go tell the clerk, her response was well youre going to have that when the system is down! Get second room key, and it didnt have the fridge or micro that I paid for in my package... So, third time was the winner, no family and the amenities where included, but there was a strange odor and there were only 2 towels with NO soap, or shampoo in the room for a family of 3! I went to ask for more towels and soap as I had showered and my daughter was getting in the shower, I was told okay, ill try but to get you some but Im not making promises...... Eventually, the towels and supplies was brought. I will NEVER stay at a red roof again
Reserved a room online. Front desk receptionist let someone else stay and modify my reservations without my premission. Even gave my room key to someone else without checking their ID. Privacy and Security issue. The supervisor then called me to say that the only mistake that the front desk receptionist Cindy did was not switch the name on the reservation. 🤔 How can you swap someone elses name on my reservations? lol this must be a joke. Took them 5 days to get back with me about my complaint.
Visiting a friend and was a bit anxious for some reason coming to this hotel and my results came out as I thought. The bed was not comfortable, heater was damage, the toilet paper felt like sandpaper, and while i was taking a bath the water did not fill up all the way, as soon as I turned off the water the bath drain. Pillows were hard as a rock. Not planning on coming back here again.
This place is not updated at all, neighbors can hear your conversations and you can hear theirs... Beds are close to the floor. This was a last minute stop. Oops I forgot to mention that there was a WET SET OF TOWELS IN THE BATHROOM. I guess from the previous tenants. NO MORE RED ROOF INN EVER!
This is a good hotel with a great view of City. Sits in an area that is about 20 minutes from down town Cleveland and has ease of access to almost anywhere in North East Cleveland. Popular with contractors in area as well so dont wait to last minute to get a room here.
Our stay at the Red Roof Inn in Independence Ohio was good at first front desk very friendly accommodating but the house keeping was a different story .First couple days asked for clean towels girl said she would bring us some were still waiting for her to come with them .Then house keeping was rude to my boyfriend because he wasnt 100 feet from the door while he was smoking we understand theres no smoking in the rooms thats not a problem but the girl doesnt need to be rude about his smoking .They need to train the girls about being a little more friendly
My stay here was trouble I dont like about this place is they dont clean your room if you stay a week or longer , no clean lining you have to walk and go return the dirty lining ,just to get clean lining the room phone in the didnt work had to use my cell phone just to call the toilet didnt flush to may issues and I paid 560 for one week never again.😩

2022-04-14Staff was accommodating and apologetic for anything that was wrong. They worked quickly to remedy what they could. There is no laundry at this facility. And there were stains on our top coverlet- it should have been changed. Room was comfortable. You get what you pay for!! So dont expect a 5 star hotel at 3 star prices and you wont be disappointed! Other than that, this hotel is good value for the money.

2022-04-15Aaron who greeted us at the front desk was friendly, helpful, & welcoming. He was also the one who checked us out & his demeanor was the same. You can tell he likes his job & helping customers. He is a great asset to Red Roof Inn.We had two minor issues during our stay. Our bathtub must have been recently caulked. It was not properly cleaned out and there was caulk pieces everywhere in the bathtub and around it. We cleaned it up.After we left the next day to go visit our Grandma at the Cleveland Clinic and came back our room had not been cleaned, meaning we had no clean towels and such. We had piled them up for housekeeping. No big deal as we are not all that fussy so we hung them all back up so they could be dry for the morning when we showered. We would stay here again as the room was essentially clean aside from the bathtub & housekeeping missing us.

2022-03-01They never came to clean the room we stayed there for4 nights .we had to put out the garbage outside door to get rid of it. Never cleaned the room while we stayed and also never got clean towels or washcloths during our stay either. We could pickup the laundry if we wanted more. We were in the area due to a family member in hospital. They stated that they were short staffed and didnt have a cleaning lady. Poor management. Also party people staying in the hotel. Alot of noise during night and evening.

2022-07-03Hope you have a good chiropractor as the mattress was horrendous. My white socks turned black from the filthy floors. Need new housekeepers that actually clean and new beds ASAP. Stayed on July 1, 2022
