Incredibly nice people and they handle the animals during the examinations very well. However, the diagnosing has gotten so poor and everything is because of fleas, on indoor cats who arent scratching or showing signs of fleas, eggs, or flea dirt. This is the second time Ive had a cat go through months of misdiagnosis costing me time and money along with my baby girls comfort and well being. I know were all human and we make mistakes, but if an animal comes in consistently with the same problem logically you would think a vet would want to try something different or reconsider the diagnosis. Nope, not here. Theyll just try the same thing then ask for your money as they remind you about pet care that has nothing to do with the issue. On top of that they told my cats eyes were fine, she regularly used to walk around with her one eye closed, even while playing with her brother. I thought it was weird, but Im not the vet so I trusted them. When taken to a new vet she was given medication and now has no issue keeping both her eyes open. When I called to ask for her previous treatment information their story changed. Now they agreed with the new vets diagnosis and that had been her problem all along. Well if you really believed that why the hell did you treat her for a different issue? My family as been going here for over 20 years and I am very loyal to the companies that have treated me well. But my baby girls health comes first and if I cant get the necessary resources to help her here, with a heavy heart I have to move on. I also found it extremely frustrating that I had only got my cats vaccination records from them a month and a half ago despite asking for them multiple times for over two years. I also asked them multiple times to send them to the new vet and they never did.
I trust Dr. Alcorns decision regarding the care of my dog and know she has his best interest at heart. The staff was fantastic with handling my Rottweiler Zeus before, during and after the appointment. I’ve been going to this office for about 10 years and I will continue, because of the care given. Thank you!
Rainbows staff is the best! As busy as they are they still allowed me to bring my sick cat in without a prior appointment. And they took such great care of her! And after all of that, they still call, followed up and check on her status. Rainbow is the best of the best. Thank you all!
I have been taking my 14 year old Lab there for almost 12 years. Putting aside the normal Old Lab issues, hips etc, he is happy, alert and still enjoying his life. Me Too!I believe that Rainbow Vet has a lot to do with that.I highly recommend them to anyone in the area who needs a good vet.
An absolutely wonderful vet! All of the staff at rainbow veterinary clinic are friendly and knowledgeable. My twelve year old kitty had to have dental surgery and they didnt have any appointments before my family moves out of town so they figured out a way to squeezed us in! They called us the day before to remind us what we to do to prepare and they even called three times after her surgery to check in and make sure she was doing well and to offer advice on anything we needed. By far the best vet clinic Ive ever been to; if I could take them with me when we move I would!
Very clean!!! I was the first patient of the day. I met Dr. Mitchell for the first time. She was very open to answering my questions and concerns about my dog. She was very adamant to make sure my dog was up to date on her medical history. The cost of the total visit was cheaper than what I predicted. I would recommend this facility to anyone. The dogs are the patient not an animal I felt welcomed and so did harley.
I cant speak highly enough of Rainbow Vet and especially Dr. Mitchell. My boyfriend has been taking his cats to see her for a long time, and now that we are living together, Ive decided to switch my own cats care to their office.Yesterday, we had an appointment for one of our cats to be seen for a minor eye infection, and were on our way out the door when we found a very sick, very matted, and very scared cat in the basement of our duplex. We dont exactly know if she was a stray who got in or if she belongs to one of our neighbors, but we immediately got another cat carrier and took her with us. When we arrived, we apologized for bringing another cat without warning, but said that we couldnt just leave her the way she was.Dr. Mitchell and her staff were wonderful and accommodating - they took care of our Eponine, but spent a good deal of time with the unknown kitty as well. They drew blood and did a physical exam, including shaving what they could of the matted fur around her butt. It turned out that the poor thing also had a significant mass on her forehead that was causing eye bulging and probably an infection, and that she was also blind. We said we wanted to take her to the humane society and that we were fully prepared to pay for her treatment, but Dr. Mitchell said that they would like to adopt her into their charity rescue program. They covered the cost of her treatment and took her into their care - even if they cant save her, at least they can give her a warm, safe place to live out the remainder of her days. This office truly goes above and beyond for their clients, and you can tell that they care deeply about each one of them. HIGHLY recommend them to anyone new to the area or looking to change vets.
My spouse and I feel so fortunate to have such wonderful vets close to our home! Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Alcorn are excellent and have give very fine care to our cats for many years. The vet techs and other staff are very kind and responsive. I highly recommend Rainbow, and if 6 stars were an option, Ive give them that as well.
I’ve been taking my dog here for two years and always had great experiences. Their costs are reasonable and they always help me find the lowest price for prescriptions. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They don’t take on a large patient load (which I appreciate) but I always recommend them to anyone looking for a new vet.
Weve been going here for a little over two years and have had nothing but positive service and support. Weve taken our three cats to them and have had success the whole way. Dr. Alcorn and Dr. Mitchell have a great manner toward our cats and have been extremely supportive through any hard-times our kitties have had.
I cant say enough wonderful things about the staff at Rainbow Vet. The assistants, especially Diane and Brandon, are knowledgeable, patient, and take the time to explain my pets care needs. All of the assistants are gentle and affectionate to my cat and dog: exactly what they need during a stressful vet visit. Dr. Alcorn always takes her time to complete a thorough physical exam, and I never feel rushed during our appointments. I appreciate that she focuses strongly on preventative care and includes diagnostic screenings for common illnesses in annual exams. She was also very kind and empathetic when delivering palliative care to my previous cat who passed away from cancer. In the past year, Ive had two surgeries performed here (spay surgery for my cat, oral surgery for my dog) and I was very impressed by the clear, detailed estimates given for both procedures in advance. Thank you Rainbow Vet for keeping my little fur balls happy and healthy!
Extremely knowledgeable and compassionate staff, even the assistants were able to offer great advice. Fair pricing of services and they quoted me before they did anything. Taking any pet to a vet is stressful for the animal and owner but they made me and my cat feel good about coming to them. Would definitely recommend.
Called on a Friday to make (hopefully that afternoon) a follow up appointment for my just adopted APL cat. Im concerned because my kitten has been licking at her surgery stitches and I think there may be an infection. Was told they are booked until Tuesday. I cant even schedule an appointment until after I fill out their online form AND submit her medical records?? That makes no sense. I should be able to bring her records to the appointment. Thats how MDs work! Now I remember why with all my past pets people told me to avoid Rainbow like the plague.
I was recommended to Rainbow by a few people who I know from around the Heights. I grew up here and wanted to support a local vet. The first time we called, we spoke to someone who told us that there was a lot of availability during Monday and Tuesday and that we could do a walk in visit with our new pup. We called on Monday to let them know we were coming in, the lady told us that there was no availability and that we had to wait until NEXT Tuesday for our puppies check-up. Like I said heard great things, so we set an appointment. On the day of the appointment, I was stressed (as new puppy owners often are) and had to be late to my appointment by 10 minutes. I called to let them know, they said ok. 2 minutes later I get a call back saying they had to cancel, and theres no availability until FRIDAY. I understand people have to run a business, and late customers are never wanted, but this is absolutely no way to treat a potential new customer/long-time community member. I wouldnt have written this if it werent for me saying looks like I have to find a new vet on the phone, and the lady just saying ok. I just feel that a vet not only should give an animal great care, but they should also be supportive of new pet owners.
Dr. Mitchell adopted a proactive approach to preventing my dogs recurring bladder stones. My former vet just changed her food to prescription and told me that its a recurring problem in some dogs. Treating my dog with potassium citrate and extra fluids has kept her healthy. Dr. Akers did surgery on my cat and offered me a solid recommendation that ultimately was the best decision because of an underlying disease. Both docs are extremely compassionate. I would trust either one with my dear animal companions.
We were clients at rainbow for several years until recently when we took our dog in for an urgent visit due to vomiting. When I arrived the vet seemed unconcerned about his vomitting, telling me to put him on a bland diet (which I had already done) and monitor him; she didnt give us any nausea meds or antibiotics. She did however say he had a significant heart murmur and had X-Rays done for him. Upon her review of the X-rays behind closed doors she told me he had an enlarged heart, but didnt show me the radio graphs, just sent me on my way without reviewing any of the images with me. I called later that day to have the radio graphs sent to us, as it was over the holidays and we wanted a family friend veterinarian who lives in another state to give us a second opinion on the images. Rainbow sent us the WRONG radiographs unbeknown to us.... they sent the images of someones CAT. Upon the review of the images by 5 different friend/acquaintance veterinarians, the consensus was unanimous: our dog had a splenic mass and no enlarged heart (this was based on the WRONG IMAGES!) After a very difficult and stressful holiday weekend of dealing with doggie stomach issues that we thought were related to a splenic mass, we went in to get a second opinion from another local vet immediately upon resumed business hours. This vet took new images (and didnt charge us) which showed a very different internal picture of our dog, thus leading to our discovery of the wrong images being sent to us by Rainbow. I do hope the people whos cat had spleen issues received their images.
If I could give ZERO stars I would. This place will rob you blind!!! They are ALL about the almighty dollar! My dog, according to them, had pancreatitis. I had heard from a friend that they routinely diagnose pancreatitis. Sure is a lot of that going around!!!! A physical exam blood work and a few pills cost me $450!!! I would pay anything for my dogs health but there is expensive and there is overpriced. I wasnt happy with their care of my dog. Three girls need to hold down a dossile chihuahua (and I mean a very sweet mellow dog) to draw blood???? It took them 20 minutes to do it too! I wouldnt recommend these people to my worst enemy!!! Oh and I love how you have to order your meds through them! You should be able to get your prescription and order from wherever you want! This practice is horrible!!!!!
Grotesque Negligence. The fees and prices charged at this veterinary clinic are by far the highest Ive seen at any animal clinic I have been to before. Ive been bringing my two cats there for approximately a year now, and though the care theyve received has always bordered on nearly adequate my latest experience with them turned into a complete nightmare. My 7 month old kitten was suffering from a severe eye ulcer that was only becoming worse over the course of 3 weeks of treatment. Though he showed signs of feline herpes and came from a shelter that had a feline herpes outbreak when I adopted him, Dr. Mitchell failed to diagnose him with a herpes induced ulcer and despite the ineffectiveness of the treatment she prescribed insisted on continuing it until the ulcer reached a point that his eye nearly ruptured. One $2500 emergency surgery later, at the Metropolitan Animal Hospital, barely managed to save my kittens eye. We both now have many months of more vet bills and future procedures to look forward to thanks to Rainbow Vet Clinics failure to make a simple diagnosis that could have resolved this very serious problem with a few weeks of anti-viral medicines. Ive since learned that feline herpes induced eye problems is such a common affliction among kittens, especially those from rescue shelters, that the fact that a trained veterinarian dropped the ball in a situation like this truly boggles the mind and can only be described as malpractice. Needless to say I am done here. Only take your pets to Rainbow Veterinary Clinic if you have excessive money you want to get rid of and dont care about your animal companions well being.
40 YEARS OF HAVING DOGS AND CATS HAS GIVEN ME A KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT MAKES A VET HOSPITAL GREAT OR NOT. RAINBOW IS ONE OF THE BEST, NOT ONLY IN THE TREATMENTS OF MY FURRY BABIES, BUT ALSO THEIR COMPASSION FOR ME AS THEIR MOM.ALSO, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR AND I BELIEVE THEIR PRICNG IS FAIR.

2021-11-18My doggies and I have been with Rainbow Vet for about 10 years. I tried 2 other vets before, I even changed vets briefly because we moved a good distance away from Rainbow. But I quickly returned. I missed the professionalism, the quick call backs and appointments, the follow up calls, them always remembering everything about my doggies, and mostly the genuine care, compassion and love they have for all of us. Their prices are awesome and they always offer tips on how to save money on meds or other services with no benefit to them. My doggies are my babies, Rainbow is our family. I am eternally grateful for such incredible care.💜

2022-06-10AMAZING!! My dog has been going to Rainbow vet since I got her 16 years ago. She is very anxious and can be very high maintenance. Everyone there is very welcoming, loving and attentive to all her needs. She has been a patient of both Dr. Alcorn and Dr. Mitchell and they both have provided excellent care for her over the years and still to this day with all of her medical issues. Not to mention how patient and caring the vet techs are with her. All the pets in my family and a few friends also go to Rainbow. Highly recommend! Excellent Care!

2022-06-22Dr. Alcorn and Dr. Mitchell keep aware of scientific breakthroughs about pet care--it is sad one cannot say that about all vets, isnt it? They always provide great advice and have the best interest of the animal at heart for both care and confort. These two very cool docs with a passion for pets have a great sense of humor to boot. The clinics staff us super efficient and very friendly. Wholeheartedly recommend.
