In the year I spent at this apartment it has been very peaceful. The neighborhood is quiet and the manager has taken care of every request Ive had. There was even a time where I had issues with my internet and she drove out during a blizzard to get me a new router. The manager is very hard working and shes constantly trying to fulfill the needs of her tenants all while juggling her normal duties. I had a job in which I worked until 1 am and I thought it was unbelievable that I would see her in her office still working. She cares for the apartment and her tenants deeply and shes shown me that through all the hard work Ive noticed. Ive really enjoyed my stay.
I would never recommend this place to any people. I had the worst ever experience with its management. Broken promises one after another. For example, they suddenly decided to not have the room promised me before. Would another more expensive one fit? Or, until I move out, I hadnt received the garage key promised to me on day one. The manager decided not to answer calls most of the time. You left messages, you texted the manager. Trust me, one out of 20 chances you would get her call back. The only chance they contact you is for rent payment. I feel so lucky that I moved out quickly. By the way, when you move out, they charge high cleaning fees and others.
At first this place seemed decent, the lady in front office seems willing to do anything and is super nice. But then it seems she doesnt remember what she told or promised you.My car was broken into twice and the catalytic converter was cut and stolen, nothing done except for me to pay for expensive garage parking. On top of that my wife got trapped in their elevators as did multiple other people.I asked if we could move out early of our lease and was told Oh yeah no problem at all, just give me a written notice and we will re-rent it easily. We gave a written notice with plenty time for them to find a new tenant on top of us advertising for them. Come to find out this place didnt try to advertise our apartment and later gets Powers Friedman to sue us for some 9 months of rent, not even including our deposit.I would avoid this place and find somewhere better like we eventually did. They are sketchy management at best, and will do anything to gouge you for money.
Honestly? Where do I start! The location, room size, amenities, neighbors, and management are beyond amazing here.I looked for apartments all around Akron and I can say I have not regretted my choice to come to Portage Trail East. On top of being the best bang for your buck, the building is made of concrete, so it’s quiet! You can’t hear your neighbors talking in the room next to you and you can’t hear the neighbor’s stomping above you either! The building itself is located under a minute away from RT 8, so it’s awesome for commuting to Kent, Cleveland, or Akron! The people that live here all get background checked so it’s been an awesome experience having such nice and cultured and understanding neighbors, it’s amazing and diverse “neighborhood”.Now as for the amenities, there’s a rec Room with weights, and another room with treadmills and bikes and all that good stuff which saves you hundred a year on a gym membership. Now if the weight room isn’t enough to sell you, there’s a party room & a sauna! With a pool table, a 60inch flat screen, a full kitchen, a seating area, and it’s right by the OUTDOOR pool. And I haven’t even mentioned the huge apartments. It’s spacious and comfortable living at an amazing cost.If I still haven’t managed to convince you to come to these apartments, there’s an ace I kept up my sleeve which is by far my favorite part of living here, the management and maintenance. The manager of this building is beyond amazing and goes above and beyond the job description. She’s available literaly at any given time and will bend over backwards to make sure you’re happy. The maintenance staff is also awesome because they actually fix stuff quickly! I have never had to wait more than 4 hours to get something checked out, and mind you I called at 4 AM. By 8, they had the tools and the replacement fan ready and it was done and over with.I can honestly say that this is the best place to live in Akron, whether you’re a family, a student, a professional, or just someone who’s looking for a place to enjoy for a few years, Portage Trail East is definitely your go to place around the Akron Area.
Dont waste your time. Place is run down, expensive and the has a bizarre staff. They use high pressure tactics to lure you. Once you move in they ignore your request for repair. I would highly suggest using caution before you spend your hard earn money at this flim flam excuse of an apartment. Consider living in a hotel first.

2022-02-25This has been a great experience renting here, the building is clean and safe. My apartment is beautiful and new. The granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and new lifetime vinyl flooring are top notch. The new laundry room and private garage are great perks. The 24 hour available staff (Flory) has always been curtious and helpful. I highly recommend.

2021-11-29I really enjoyed living at Portage Trail East. The building is well maintained and quiet. The building manager, Flory, is friendly and helpful and the maintenance staff is great. The building has great amenities with updated laundry with plenty of washers and dryers, a room for entertaining family and friends a large pool and exercise rooms. Extra storage is available as well as secure garage parking for a nominal cost. Lots of space in the ground lot at no cost. Having a quiet place to live was important to me and PT East was that place. The building is in a residential neighborhood and convenient to the expressway, shopping and restaurants. I would not hesitate to rent here again and would definitely recommend it.

2022-04-13Called them three times and inquired online twice and no one ever called or emailed me back. Why advertise that you have units available if you don’t want to speak to anyone. If this is how they treat potential new tenants I can’t imagine how they treat current ones

2021-04-15I have been lucky to call this place my home for the past 4 years and cannot speak highly enough about it. As a young resident physician, this place had everything I needed and more. Large units, concrete walls (essentially soundproof), low prices, great location, easy access to the highway, safe neighborhood and environment, extremely helpful staff, and friendly neighbors and other tenants. The building is filled with young professionals (a lot of young physicians) and some older population that has lived there for many years. As such, you can imagine the building is quiet, clean, and safe, and the tenants are respectful and kind. The units here are very big and the size you get for the price you pay is unmatched, plus everything is updated and every apartment has a balcony included. Gas, water, sewage, and trash are all included in your rent at a flat cheap fee; all you pay extra for is electric which is also cheap because its through the city of Cuyahoga Falls. Not to mention the apartments have a ton of natural light so you rarely need any lights on during the days. The concrete walls make your apartment practically soundproof from your neighbors, which was perfect when I needed to study or catch up on sleep. The location is right by route 8 so highway access is a breeze and my commute to work at the hospital was always

2018-11-13I absolutely love living here. My apartment is incredible. The kitchen has top notch appliances and there was so much counter space to cook! I cook all the time and this kitchen is perfect. The view from the 8th floor is fantastic and there is so much natural light that comes through. The apartment is very quiet because the walls are concrete (this does make it hard to decorate/hang stuff... but the maintenance guy can help you out). Laundry is shared and it doesnt get too incredibly crowded. There is a little room to workout in and the two treadmills are nice. Used the pool in the summer quite often. I lived here for almost 2 years and the only reason I am leaving is because I have to relocate for my job. Flory is incredibly helpful, kind, and goes out of her way to answer requests. I honestly loved everything about living here and I am very sad to be leaving. If you are thinking about renting here... do it! You will not be disappointed!

2018-08-23Flory was the best landlord I have ever had. I firmly believe it will remain that way. She was extremely attentive to my personal needs and went above and beyond to make my experience there as memorable as possible. She delivered over and over again. The maintenance staff exceeded my expectations too. They were respectful and ensured that whatever issues I encountered were resolved in a timely manner.I am going to miss living here. The concrete walls and wooden doors made the apartment incredibly sound proof. It felt like home every time I ran into Flory. There is no harder working landlord out there. Give it a chance...you will not be disappointed!

2017-10-03I lived here for over a year and feel very safe and comfortable. The building is in a very safe in a quiet neighborhood. The residents are quiet, lots of young professionals, University of Akron or Kent State graduate students and older residents that lived here for many years. The manager, Flory is wonderful and very accommodating and hard working. The unit I rented was updated, clean, very spacious, and with plenty of closets. I like the easy access to Akron or Cleveland as the complex is located near an exit on OH State Route 8. Walking distance from the Falls River Square, where you can enjoy a host of festivals, summer concert series. Love this place.

2017-11-18This place is amazing they took me in when I didnt barely have any money and the manager worked with me every step of the way. Seriously nice apartments good price for all the amenities that come with it. Maintenance is great my sink was running and wouldnt stop they came that morning and fixed it. Ive locked myself out a couple of times when it was super late and I just call her and she lets me in with no problems. Security is great and it really feels like home. 10/10 would definitely recommend to teenagers just starting off or even college kids who dont know what they are doing like me. They are also super nice penthouse apartments too! You pay a dollar per square foot and thats just amazing to me! You really get what you paid for and way more. Thanks again!

2019-01-03I have been a resident for 1 years and I absolutely love it. All apartments shown to me were completely renewed. Of note, the appliances that are of high quality and easy maintenance, as well as the beautiful marble finish in the kitchen and the bathroom. The entire building feels solid and is incredibly well insulated.Coming from the city, the view is absolutely breathtaking and incredibly soothing (trees for days!). I cannot express how relaxing the view is for me. And yet, Cuyahoga falls downtown is only about 10 minutes away and has everything I need in terms of shopping, restaurants, and recreational services.I have not had any issue with my apartment since it was completely remodeled but I have to speak to the quality of the staff. The building manager is a wonderful woman that works tirelessly to improve the complex and helps residents in any possible way. I have seen her bend over backwards so many times. Even when I was being difficult about the garage spot given to me (I have bad legs), she did everything in her power to satisfy my request. The maintenance folks are incredibly friendly (without actually forcing it, I dont know how to explain, its just the right amount of friendliness) and always helpful.Neighbors, I have no idea, and that is because of two reasons: I dont want to meet them and I rarely see and never hear them (these walls are amazing!). To me they are the best kind of neighbor. There are, however, plenty of activities for the more outgoing and social folks. Whether you want to meet your neighbors or isolate yourself, this place will satisfy! All in all I would recommend this place to anyone looking for peace and convenience. I havent been able to call an apartment home for a very long time. And that is both thanks to the wonderful staff and the incredible peace of mind this complex gives you.One last thing worth mentioning. This place feels (and is) incredibly safe.

2019-04-24I spent the past year living here and I really enjoyed it. I never had to worry about bad neighbors or noise from other apartments. The pool is great during the summer and parking was never an issue. Quick access to highway 8. Lots of space and a comfortable balcony overlooking Cuyahoga Falls. Never had to worry about bugs. Only moving out due to a work conflict with commute time, but once I start school in Akron this will be the first place I check for openings.
