Planet Fitness in other cities:
The cleanliness of this place is horrible. No one cleans the equipment on a regular basis that I’ve noticed, the locker rooms are dirty & bugs are present The shower curtains and stall is horrific. There’s trash, clogged drains, hair balls, handles missing etc. The whirlpool is dirty and inoperable from time to time . I stopped using the sauna because it’ makes me feel uncomfortable. I’ve altered management regarding my concerns especially with COVID however very little if anything is done. Therefore so am I. Definitely wouldn’t recommend!!!!.
The location is great and the staff is polite, but the showers are disappointing. Several showers have the same hair and soap residue on the walls which lets you know how thorough they are being when cleaning. I’ve mentioned it a couple times to the staff, but you can tell they only clean the shower floors. Barely. Makes you wonder how thorough they are with the rest of the gym.
Update, I recently moved from Cincinnati to the Charlotte area, this perspective makes me want to say just how good the management (Josh and Jake) and facility is in this Oakley facility. They were extremely helpful to me in this transition and let me say the Charlotte facilities could learn a lot from how to run a facility and deal with people. I actually miss this gym and management, I wish them continued growth and success. The facility, equipment ane extremely well designed and maintained, even the gym membership it self seems more fitness conscious than ever so I can 100% say this place is great and can recommended it 100% as a gym rat for over 50 years….
I just joined here as a member for the first time. It’s a great facility, very clean, staff is friendly! Has lots of equipment.I have to rate it 1 star though because literally no one wears masks here. Every single person in the downstairs weights area today wasn’t wearing a mask; not even pulled down, just didn’t have one. People walk around freely all around the facility and stand in the lobby with no masks on, and as much as I want to work out I am incredibly uncomfortable being here. :/ I wish that the staff could be more proactive in making sure people were wearing their masks during the pandemic.
Black card member - felt compelled to put out a review. Just returned from only my 4th or 5th time at this location since March 2020. The gym is great overall, and Ive always had a great experience; however, Im very disappointed in the policing of mask compliance. I know theres a delicate balance with enforcing this policy, but each time Im in the gym mask compliance for men is 25% at best. The majority of the guys dont wear a mask when walking around on the floor period. I have discussed this with the local management twice and didnt get much of a response. Ultimately Im comfortable taking the risk, but I do wear a mask when Im actively working out because of this. If youre comfortable with that risk, then youll like everything else about this location. I just cant wrap my brain around having a corporate policy focused on permitting members to safely work out, but then not enforcing it, especially when the non-compliance is so blatant. Just know theres elevated risk with this location not adhering to its own corporate policy despite them being made aware of it repeatedly.
Its huge but filthy. The employees pretend like they are cleaning everything and wiping the floor but the mop doesnt even touch the floor. Hey manager, you can watch them through your own security cameras for proof. You are probably one of them too! Please keep your facility clean for peoples sake.
I love planet fitness and this particular gym is so well equipped and it’s also huge. They have every other treadmill/elliptical/etc. blocked off for “social fitnessing” and their new app has a notice when you sign in reminding everyone to wear masks. It also has a “crowd meter” that monitors how busy the gym is at the time which is helpful if you’re trying to go when not a lot of people are there. Still, however, people wander around without masks which is frustrating given the signs and app reminders.
This gym is just alright. It’s so busy most of the time it’s hard to get on some machines and the team members do not manage people’s time on machines. The mask mandate is not enforced at all. It’s one thing to be on your own machine wo a mask but people walk all over the gym, from machine to machine, wo a mask. On the cable machines there isn’t social “fitnessing” due to how the machine is set up and still masks aren’t worn. I wear a mask at all times during my workout and the mandate needs to be enforced. I have even had another person come up to me and ask to use the machine right next to me (less than a ft away) and I said no we are social distancing (she also didn’t have a mask on) and she used it anyway. There is no enforcement of any covid regulations at all. I gave three stars bc the staff does keep it pretty clean. I see them vacuuming all the time and they refill the towels and cleaner multiple times an hour. I do like that smoothie king is right next door but since they are working together and that smoothie king is advertised throughout the gym you’d think the smoothie king would be run better. Overall this gym is just okay. You spend a lot of time waiting on equipment to open up and it’s NOT covid friendly but if that doesn’t bother you then it’s nice enough. Also by restricting hours you force everyone to go around the same time bc those of us who would go late night no longer can forcing more people in the building at the same time. W more people and no masks this place is just festering w covid. I see a lot of the workers just standing around the front, why aren’t they out enforcing the mask mandate?Edit to add again that the workers don’t manage people’s time on machines. A girl just yesterday was on a stairstepper for TWO hours while people were standing behind the machines waiting to get on. The workers do not kick people off machines. The same goes for the barbells. A single person will have up to three or four different sets of weights at once and others have to wait just to get one set bc several people have multiple sets of barbells. Why aren’t the workers out enforcing the rules? I spend more time waiting on machines/weights than actually working out bc they do not monitor at all. I have taken off another star bc I shouldn’t have to tell the 5+ workers at the front to monitor when it’s part of their job.
I signed up for this location a year ago and have since cancelled my membership. The staff is overall friendly and the facility is clean, good equipment and ample space with great amenities. I would recommend BUT I have 2 issues:1. There should be childcare or an area where kids can work out, not a MUST but it would be nice2. Some of the newer staff are very loud and obnoxious in an otherwise very relaxed and down to earth setting this is big for me since customer service is everything, it represents the facilitySo not a terrible place but there’s definitely some things that need improved before I’d consider a membership again.
Very clean, great staff and definitely no judgement, as they advertise. I was thrilled to find they have rowing machines! Seems to be a well planned out gym...an area for everything! Being a new starter after a long hiatus from being a gym junkie for many years, I feel like Im back where I belong!!! Its never to late to start over!!!!
Staff are friendly. Facility is clean. Not too crowded when I was there on a Saturday afternoon. They do not have as many offerings as some of the competition in the area but if all you need are some free weights, machines, and cardio equipment, this place should work well for you.
The Western hills planet fitness location is my main location that I usually go and work out at I love how they have two floors of equipment very large open spaces for anybody who feels claustrophobic when they are working out when people are too close the Western hills location will fit your needs 👍So when you want a good quality tan.I prefer the bronzer beds ❤️The bronzer beds at the colerain location are amazing as well as the bronzer beds in the Kentucky I think its the Newport location.Absolutely amazing Im always astonished by all of the employees of planet fitness theyre always so sweet. and always ready to help in any way they can. Theyre doing an amazing job at keeping the equipment sanitized and everything is always clean and well put together 👍
I just don’t understand why there are huge fans in the gym especially the second floor? If I am sweating I don’t want cold air blowing on me and giving me shivers. Sweaty body and cold air constantly blowing at my head is a recipe for getting sick. Also I am tall enough to touch the blades on the second floor if I jump high enough, how is that safe? Can you guys just get rid of the fans, this isn’t a warehouse.
This is our regular gym, weve been going for about 4 months now almost daily. Its great but it fills up fast, I wish there was more space for the free weights but people are respectful and once they complete their workout move out of the area. Its nice that they have two levels and the upstairs is mainly treadmills and ellipticals. I also love the area dedicated to abs and legs!
1st time back in over a year. I was shocked to see so many peoole not wearing masks. The people not wearing masks were younger so i know they were not vaccinated as of yet. Its unsafe and no one was asking them to put them on or pull them up. Free weights were a joke! You could not get to the weights with outbeing right next to soneone and no one in that area had a mask on. Tread mills were fine because you were 6ft away but the gym was si unsafe.
Stopped in tonight at 5:15 PM. for a tour. I wanted to go at a busy time. I must say it was busy, but they had empty machines. The staff was great and very friendly. I was impressed. I did not join yet. I will be stopping by tomorrow morning to see how the crowd is. More than likely I will be joining next week, I will keep you posted.
When it comes to planet fitness its a like it, but for Oakley planet fitness its a love it. Oakley has the largest planet fitness in Cincinnati ( this might not be a fact ) its always clean the employees are super sweet, the locker room always has spaces and there are always machines available even though the place is always filled in the evenings. I never feel self conscious or put down here, its a great place to go and feel your healthiest!
I love this gym. I am not comfortable in gyms and I do not know how to use all the equipment. I dont feel stupid when Im trying to learn how to use the equipment, and I highly recommend taking the classes. The Trainers will teach you how to use the equipment and keep you motivated! I even have two little abs starting to show!
Over all this is a nice clean and its brand new. The only thing that bothers me is every time I go to work out the staff is always miss treating and being rude and mean to the African American young man that works there. Its always done where people can see it. And I dont like it at all. Its better ways to treat your employees.....
UPDATE (10/30/2020): Decreased my rating from 2 stars to 1In May 2020, I moved to New Hampshire, and in early June I called to cancel my membership. I was told they needed me to appear in person or they needed my physical signature on a letter. I confirmed that I could fax it, and then faxed them their request.Just recently I realized I am still being charged. I called today and spoke to the manager, Jake Schenz. He told me he had no proof that I had sent a fax in June (reiterated several times, thanks, I did send it, sorry no one documented it but not sure what I could have done about that), and that their policy anyway was that they ONLY accept a mailed letter or an in-person visit to cancel membership. He stated multiple times that he could not let me cancel over the phone (which I never asked for). I was annoyed and asked what accommodations they are making due to the pandemic and offered that I could video chat with him to cancel it, fax, scan and email a request, or use my verified electronic signature (which even the U.S. government accepts for my work-related documents) and he told me the only accommodation they are making is to freeze the account temporarily to prevent further charges. When I told him I am concerned with depending on the U.S. Postal Service at this time (they are experiencing issues due to the election and the cuts recently implemented by the Postmaster General) he restated their policy and then offered that I could send a friend in to cancel my membership if I wanted. I told him that of course I wouldnt ask anyone I cared about to enter a fitness facility during a pandemic so that wasnt an option. He reiterated multiple times that my only options would be to send a physical letter in the mail, or come into the gym (I am in New Hampshire permanently and have been since May, which I reminded him of).His approach to our discussion was combative and borderline rude from the start, which frustrated me. For example, he kept saying something along the lines of If I bend the rules for you I have to bend them for everyone (to which I responded why on earth shouldnt everyone have the option to cancel remotely during a pandemic and without having to rely on the unreliable post office?) and like I mentioned, was asserting that I was asking him to cancel over the phone (I wasnt). His tone was harsh and annoyed, his sentences were quick and clipped. I understand he is probably dealing with a lot of requests, and may have his hands tied in some ways, and he may be frustrated and even worried about his own future (I imagine they arent doing while financially due to COVID) but none of that should be put on me. I felt I was making a reasonable request but his response lacked any empathy and implied that I was being unreasonable. He softened a little bit at the end I noticed (when I finally agreed to send a letter- probably thrilled at the prospect of getting off the phone with me) so maybe some of what I was trying to say got through a little bit. I dont blame him for corporate policies but I do blame him for his lack of empathy and people skills, and for not pushing the issue up the chain if PF is requiring enforcement of outdated and nonsensical policies, especially 6 months into the pandemic. I hope this information is helpful for anyone considering signing a contract with Planet Fitness Oakley.ORIGINAL REVIEW:For $10/month keep your expectations low.PROS: I like the large selection of cardio machines, even when its busy its not hard to find one usually. The staff seem friendly and there are a ton of keyless lockers. It is always really clean.CONS: Not enough parking. Vibrating floors. Machines seem 20 years out of date- cant even change the incline on the ellipticals. There arent enough mats available for stretching. The sun comes in really harshly at certain times of day and there arent any shades on the windows. The free weights selection is SO SMALL - only two of every weight and people hog them. Low price isnt worth it if I cant actually work out.
New location that opened up. Everything is very clean, which I have found to be the case at all locations I have been to in the last few years. I really like that they have lockers with locks already installed in them. I would also like to give a nod to the folks that work here. They are also very professional and friendly.
Ive been trying to cancel my account for nearly 6 months Ive been told it had been cancelled twice. Now Im being told I need to write a letter to the club to cancel my account. I suggest going to another gym because this gym will charge your account while their closed during a pandemic and then take you through hoops to close it.
My boyfriend went to start us a membership today, he walked in and the employees looked at him, ignored him, and continued their conversations amongst each other. There were 5 employees and they all ignored him for 10 minutes... He left and called the manager, only For the manager to say I remember you! You were just infront of us, I didnt know you needed help. Last time I checked in customer service you always greet people with how may I help you right when they walk in....
Scam alert! Gym staff refused to cancel my membership over the phone as I requested and also told me it could not be cancelled online. They are saying it can only be cancelled by a written letter, making it much more difficult to cancel memberships. Be careful before you let them rip you off!
I enjoy how involved the staff are with the members, making each of us feel like family. Thank you PF. AND CICI I want to through out a shout out to Jawanna, and Jake , These staff members have created an environment that is Unmatched. Thank you again for the world Class service you all provide.
Ive been a planet fitness member for several years, I have the black card and have been to multiple locations. Ive never had such an embarrassing and emotionally devastating experience as I did tonight at the Oakley location. After a misunderstanding with another member over a machine in the circuit room, who shouted at me in a gym full of people that I didnt belong there, I went up to the Assistant Manager Jake and had a conversation with him about the incident and asked him to hit the Lunk Alarm. He told me directly to my face, surrounded by other workers that he would hit the Lunk alarmand understood how I felt. I walked away and went upstairs but the alarm never went off. I came back down to ask why and explained that he just decided not to because it would escalate the situation. For a gym that has signs everywhere that they dont stand for gym intimidation... I am absolutely appalled. How is yelling at someone that you dont belong here not the exact definition of gym intimidation? All I wanted after being extremely humiliated was to know that I was still safe and welcome in that gym. Jake proved that Oakley planet fitness in fact stands for humiliating and lying to their members. After trying so hard to build my confidence this situation is devastating. Canceling my membership and filing a formal complaint asap!
Ugly hand chairs upon entry. Ugly purple paint throughout. Loud and oppressive pop music. Cold and flat-rate architecture. Vibrating upper floors from armies of people doing cardio. Poor design choices leading to clogged hallways. Just too many people. Employees all standing at the front doing nothing.

2022-04-25Good club overall, nice staff onsite. I moved out of State after having a membership for a couple years. They told me I couldnt cancel the membership without sending a hard copy letter with my signature. They said I could also fly into town to cancel the membership. Pretty disappointing considering they have a full understanding I cannot access the facility any longer.

2022-03-31Visited the other night, found two employees working, one was cleaning and the other well lets say he is a heavy sleeper. Myself and another woman wanted to use tanning beds, but as you can see by the attached picture we were unable to. We tried to wake Sleeping Beauty but couldnt wake him up, so we just left. Gave it four stars because of how clean the gym and womens locker room were.

2022-05-21Always clean, staff is typically friendly and I go 2 to 4 times a week on average. Spacious but can surprisingly get crowded. I love it

2022-03-15I appreciate the cleanliness of the facility and friendliness of staff however, I give a 3 star rating vs 5 star because of how cold they keep it with all the ceiling fans and air conditioning on high even during winter. Its irritating and strips people of working up and sweat and being motivated to workout with the gym being so cold.

2022-05-26Arrived little after midnight and gym was full of teens, there should really be some sort of policy concerning underage members in the gym after midnight, isnt there a curfew law in Cincinnati and shouldnt businesses enforce it by not allowing the underage to be in their place of business? I decided to leave wasnt gonna keep asking teens to please get up off machine they were just sitting at

2022-04-25Planet Fitness, is one of the cleanest gyms Ive ever been to. Their gyms are clean, tidy, smell good and looks good.
